We have been here twice. First time for Valentines Day and the second with family. Both times it was a lot of fun. Great for something different than your normal dinner. The floor is a bit oily and one for the staff members looks like they need a career change but for the most part it's yummy and fun.
When I hear the word 'teppanyaki', what comes immediately to my mind is sitting around a small BBQ or grill, holding a bowl in my hand and attempting to catch the bits of egg being thrown to me by the chef. Then afterwards I would sit in fascination, watching as the chef cooks my meal in front of my eyes, and I eventually get to savour the dish as it comes off straight from the grill. I finally had my first experience at a Teppanyaki restaurant, and though my experience was not exactly having egg being thrown at me (actually, I did get one piece of egg thrown at me, in which I had to catch in my mouth), a Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant is a place all 'foodies', dessert or savoury, need to experience at least once in their life. So here I share mine. As you walk into the restaurant, there are about four different areas set up. Two areas, in the centre and on the right side are set up for the Teppanyaki, grills in the middle, surrounded by seating to overlook the cooking for the dining e
Best Teppanyaki we have been too.. We have been to Akira twice now and will defiantly returning. Service is excellent, have different price set menu's which were well priced for amount of food you get. Great night out :)
Thanks for a great night.... Chef Alex was AMAZING!! so friendly and happy. Food was fantastic and we have 4 very happy kids.
Tianas 21st. Thank you for a memorable 21st we had wonderful service awesome food and plenty to eat chefs are very entertaining my only complaint was we were charged for 3 children who didnt even eat but would recommend this place to all my friends and family THANKYOU
FOOD - Very fresh and full of flavour. Always cooked to perfection and just melts in your mouth!
SERVICE - Quick and entertaining. Chef was very engaging and didn't fail to make the whole table laugh. Nothing to fault with service.
AMBIENCE - Restaurant is well maintained an and clean. Modern decor is pleasant and creates a warm and friendly atmosphere. All staff are friendly and helpful.
COST - There is a banquet to accommodate for each reasonable budget. The $80 banquet is definitely worth its money.
ONLY COMPLAINT - They took deep fried icecream off the menu!!!
Great Birthday. We went to Akira for the third time tonight - it's been great every time and the service was always very friendly. I am gluten intolerant and every time they have been really helpful and catered to my needs. We took a cake along for my partner's birthday and they were fantastic - not only did they light the candles and bring the cake out on cue, they provided a "samurai" sword with which to cut it. I was pretty amazed that they took a photo, and delivered it to our table *framed* a couple of minutes later. Nice gesture. Good food, nice atmosphere and quick cleanup considering there were some patrons with pretty terrible reflexes. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Try it for yourself.... Having been to a couple of teppanyaki restaurants before I was excited for a fun and exciting dinner out but I must admit Akira fell a bit short of that for me. However, on the other hand, my partner who had never been to a teppanyaki restaurant loved it!
The venue is relatively nice, the food isn't a let down but you wouldn't rave about it, the service was average. The let down to me was that both teppanyaki chefs did not do any interesting tricks (and maybe they were new) but that's the whole point of it so that was disappointing but on the plus side they did play 2 "games" with the patrons that I have never played before which my partner loved.
All in all, I would go there again if I couldn't be bothered driving to a better teppanyaki restuarant that's a little further away. Aikra should consider lifting their game a little because it has a lot of potential.
Wow. My friends and I went to dinner tonight at Akira. Opposite us was a large party with children who were more than accommodated for.
I have to say that the evening was just perfect. The food was exquisite and the service was superb. The group across from us had a young baby and the host even offered to hold the baby so mum could participate. Nothing sweeter than hearing this man sing softly to the little baby so mum could join in and participate.
This evening was great. The restaurant catered to the needs of everyone there tonight - adults, kids, babies.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. I highly recommend this restaurant. My family and I went to a Teppanyaki restaurant in Adelaide and found that Akira was more entertaining, better food and better value for money.
I honestly cannot sing this restaurants praises enough - not one person would have left the restaurant feeling even a tiny bit unsatisfied.
Well done Akira and thank you for a lovely, lovely evening.
Loved this place!! Went for a birthday & they treated us very well & made the birthday person feel very special!
The staff are amazing, attentive & very friendly. The chef was very funny & made the experience very enjoyable! Definitely a place to try with family or friends you will enjoy it!
Fantastic! clean and friendly staff who entertained the children as we had 1 seafood and two vege teppanyaki between the four of us. Penrith really needs more places like this. Will definitely be back :-)
We had a great time, the chef we got had just started. Everything was great food was well cooked and everything was fresh. i particularly liked the dipping sauces. The beef was so-so in flavoring but not a big deal when there are sauces.
I've been here twice so goes to show it has decent food. First time we had a great chef with an energetic attitude to the cooking and customer interaction. The second time that chef was less enthusiastic and more quiet however. Also not the most spectacular tricks.but a good show.non the less and not a bad first teppanyaki experience
