Review Rusty Fig - Perth

Came in for a coffee to kill some time, such a pleasant experience!!!! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted. The young girl who made the coffee was wonderful, a little bit of a jokester which I loved!!! The coffee cup was so cute! As we were leaving we seen off pleasantly. Seriously recommend you going here. We are visiting from another state and this is the most loveliest we have been treated!

Wowwwww. By far the most amazing, enjoyable experience. Had my birthday dinner here with a few close friends a few months ago, best night I had in a while. The staff were so amazing and funny and so helpful with everything, they definitely made the night so much more enjoyable.. now the food is out of the world, so many flavours, so so so delicious, I dream of this night and the food 😆 well worth your money!! Also amazing cocktails.

We had the decadent degustation and it was sensational. The staff were very attentive and friendly but not to the level where we were constantly interrupted. Food was amazing.

Couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate my wedding anniversary; Food - Amazing Staff - Amazing Ambient - Amazing Chefs did an absolute outstanding job, couldn't believe the authenticity and quality of the food, for every single course of the 8 we had, simply splendid.
Stef Gregory
Went there with my partner Friday night and had the 8 course tasting menu. Flavours, quality and presentation of all dishes was exceptional. Front of house staff where clearly formally trained in the art of fine dining and service which was fantastic to see. The young Filipino waitress was absolutely fantastic, both myself and my partner are in the hospitality industry and we both agreed it was amazing to see someone still with passion for front of house service, not to many of them are left around. I was slightly disappointed to see such a high end fine dining restaurant allowing customers to sit down for dinner in shorts and a singlet and another couple came in, in gym wear. All in all food and service was great

Friends restaurant has always been a favourite. From it’s origins in the Swan Valley until it’s current location, it is an excellent place to celebrate any special occasion. The food is superb, the wine list is amazing, the service is excellent and the staff are friendly. A wonderful fine dining experience!

I honestly do not understand why it was so quiet on a Friday night. The food was sensational, the wine was fantastic, the service was brilliant and entertaining and the sticky date pudding was honestly the best I have ever had!! Highly recommend!

Customer service was amazing, unless you are relying on your server to create atmosphere between you and those dining with you...The servers are attentive and punctual but leave you to enjoy the company of those you are with which I personally prefer. Food was fantastic, though a little heavy handed on the truffle which I never thought I would say! We look forward to dining here again for another 5 courses!

We dined in the private room which is gorgeous. All of the food was delicious and well balanced. I particularly enjoyed the duck breast.<br/>

Visited here for the first time and definitely lived up to expectations, stylish and modern restaurant with exceptional food from the eight course tasting menu with paired wine. All the staff were attentive and very friendly with excellent knowledge of food and beverage. By the end of the eight courses we were bursting at the seems. Lesley and clyde Have a wonderful restaurant and I wouldn’t recommend this place enough. We can’t wait to visit again and see what culinary delights are on the menu

My partner and I decided to take advantage of the scoopon available at friends where they currently advertise a 5 course truffle degustation. We were extremely excited going into this food experience as we love truffle and how the simplest of dishes can become quite sophisticated and complex. Throughout each of our 5 dishes we experienced little to no truffle. Given that truffle was to be highlighted we politely mentioned to the waitress that we could not taste truffle in most of the dishes. 2 minutes later we have the owner shaving truffle on our plates and belittling our opinion as it relates to truffle. My partner and I don’t claim to be truffle connoisseur’s but we do have tastebuds of which tasted no truffle on this evening. This song and dance with the owner went on for most of the night and left us extremely disappointed with our experience. Word of advice....if you are advertising a menu that is meant to highlight truffle, you need to make it the forefront of each dish or at least make it part of the dish. Lastly, the owner should not be making comments that make you feel uncomfortable and inferior simply because he is holding “2k worth” of truffles in his hand. Have a little bit of professionalism and class. To finish this review, the waitresses were extremely polite and very tentative. We felt they were the only highlight to a forgetful night.

Having been locked up from covid9 my wife and I booked our 30th wedding anniversary dinner to get out and about. Well I was absolutely satisfied 100% the service and the food was fantastic. Couldn’t find one flaw at all. Just a lovely place for dinner and great service. Will be back again definitely. Wine list is excellent. Not too big and not too small.

I really don’t know how to describe the experience because I’m mindful that this is someone’s business and it’s clear they have been working in the industry for a long time...<br/>That’s probably why this restaurant is totally missing the mark for me: there’s nothing current about it.<br/>The food was weird.<br/>My barramundi fillet came with a crumb on top and was served with a purĂ©e of capsicum and some finely diced tomatoes.<br/>I ordered a side of spinach and mushrooms. It came baked with cheese!<br/>The freshly baked bread looked freshly baked and had 3 different flavours: they all tasted the same.<br/>You can tell the produces are fresh, and that the kitchen is professionally trained, but when you market yourself as fine dining, you need to deliver. I haven’t had that type of food since the 80’s.<br/>Because of that, I decided not to have dessert because I was afraid something weird was going to be served to me again!<br/>The lady behind the bar - which I believe was the owner - was SO sweet. She worked so hard and you can tell she cares about her clients. I feel sorry I have to give such a bad review because I really liked her.

This was our first visit to the new location on St George's Terrace.  The new space is contemporary and interesting yet still retains the fine dining ambiance upstairs.  I'm certainly looking forward to having a drink on the front terrace when the weather warms up as well as aspiring to not only a chef's table dinner but also a private room dinner which are both features of the new restaurant.  We asked for recommendations from Clyde and Jessica from the menu and their suggestions were spot on.  For our entree we chose seafood chowder and the scallops both of which were really flavoursome and very very fresh.  I was feeling like something a bit different so went with the slow cooked abalone entree for the main course whilst my husband took Clyde's recommendation and ordered the crispy pork belly. Again, both dishes were superb and the attention to detail with the different elements and garnishes was a highlight.  A mixed tomato, basil, field mushroom and bocconcini salad was the perfect accompaniment.<br/>We loved the little complimentary amuse bouches between courses that were tiny taste sensations and the house made breads were also sensational. For dessert we shared the mandarin with ginger that was an excellent light but tasty finish to our meal.<br/>All in all we had a lovely night with fantastic food, perfectly matched wines and friendly efficient service from all the staff.

It's always a delight to eat at Friends. and our evening last Thursday was no exception. Genuine fine dining from the quality of the food, the wine chosen by the owner for us and the wonderful service. The staff know the menu and the wine list, and we felt the attention was just right. Clyde and Leslie were perfect hosts and it's easy to see why their team is a Gold Plate winner for fine dining. We'll be back.

We’ve just had the most amazing meal at this restaurant. They have moved to 200 St Georges Terrace but left nothing behind at the old place. Attention to detail is second to none and the friendly staff look after you like you are an old friend they haven’t seen in a while. The food is absolutely stunning and great value for money for a top restaurant in Perth. The owners do what good owners should do, making sure the staff are being attentive, the food is going out on time and being delivered to the tables as it should and that their guests are happy. As a client who had booked a table for two for a romantic dinner the owner visited our table once to see if we needed help with the menu. Great customer service. After that we were left in the more that capable hands of the waitress. Love this place and the way it is run. We’ll be back for our next special dinner. Maybe EZ Clap should join us as I personally think you have reviewed the wrong restaurant or weren’t even a guest there? Google EZ Clap.
Ez Clap
The food at this once great restaurant has been deteriorating in quality for some time. The owners seem to think that they are capable working the floor but this couldn’t be further from the truth. They are unfriendly, pompous and rude to the extent that they create a bad atmosphere for the entire restaurant. These two elderly individuals hang around like a bad smell, limiting the amount of privacy and conversations one can have. The ambience is quite uptight and stale, everyone seems like they’re on edge and can’t have a laugh or be boisterous in the company of family and friends. Furthermore, the quality of food seems to have departed with the previous chef who clearly saw his talents going to waste.
Little Chef
New location to an old favourite, went for the 5 course Saturday menu at $95 which for Perth is good value. <br/>Every course was fantastic and hard to fault any of the dishes only small things which are probably more to personal preference. <br/>Only small issue was the service was maybe not a 100% with a few errors like forgot to give bread and clearing of empty side plates also not taken until the end. Apart from this still a 5 star venue.
Debora Haus
Great night. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was presented fine and the portion were big. All the plates were yummy. The sunset view was something a part. thanks for the experience

Friends Restaurant is next Level. This is the place to take someone special, to impress, but also to enjoy the very best Perth has to offer without the snobbery. Exceptional service, classic, classy and distinctively romantic.  Generous servings of stunning food that is at the very top of it's game. Every time we leave here in the car on the way home the conversation is always the same, when we can come again. Just delightful on every point.

We were 3 couples. The food and service was stupendous. We had complementary soup, starters and palate cleansers. We had a massive steak for mains. The tiger prawns were scrumptious and yummy. We had fine wine and good conversation. There was no room for dessert. Sigh! There’s not been such a good meal in Perth for us. The steak really fills you up. Not a bad way to end. Our friends were not in the mood to give up so had desserts. We looked at them in envy as the delighted in the sweet and creamy offering that made us look longingly. Another trip is required for the desserts and sweet wines.
Reshad Mirnour
We booked on a Wednesday and. They give us their best table with a nice sunset view. Staff are polite and serve you regularly, they also surprised us with some complimentary sides. Overall, if you want to experience some fine dining, this could be an option.

Friends Restaurant is back with their truffle degustation, featuring our locally-sourced Manjimup Truffles. Find this deal on Scoopon for 50% discount! The dego started with a creamy chestnut and truffle soup 🌰🍄, which had a thick consistency and set a great tone for the meal. The thinly shaved truffle slice on top exuded so much flavour that it's evident why truffle is a delicacy of such calibre.<br/><br/>Field mushroom lasagne 🍄🍝 was my favourite dish as the pasta sheets were silky and transparent. The smooth mushroom paste inside was enhanced by shaved truffle on top and brown butter sauce was a flattering accompaniment.<br/><br/>As much as I loved the previous course, prawn and truffle mayonnaise 🩐🍄 was easily my least favourite. There was a lot of wakame salad so sesame oil was very overpowering. The essence of lobster, prawn and truffle flavours was somewhat lost in the abundant presence of mayo and avocado.<br/><br/>Beef was beautifully braised, with the protein falling apart at the touch of a fork. The red wine sauce would have been great if the aim wasn't to hero truffle 🐼🍄 as without the extra shaved truffle on top afterwards we couldn't taste it. Potato mousseline was a dry and grainy circle of mashed potato that unfortunately didn't do the trick.<br/><br/>Although the savoury courses were not all satisfactory, we completely appreciated the hospitality 😄. Clyde and the team made sure we were comfortable and offered many generous rounds of truffle shavings. But have you ever loved an ice cream so much that you'd eat an entire degustation just to get through to the end for it?<br/><br/>Ever since we discovered truffle ice cream 🍄🍩, I was hooked and everytime we've had the truffle dego at Friends, we've had an extra scoop each for our dessert and some more to take away 😍. This time round the apple crumble soufflĂ© has risen beautifully, texture airy and soft. Truffle ice cream is forever so smooth and the earthiness is super addictive. The fragrance is unmistakably distinctive and it's the kind of flavour that lingers on your palate, and breath, for a long time, as long as you don't eat or drink anything else afterwards. Trust me you'd wanna savour it!

Took my lady for a night out here. Felt like a top class place from the moment we walked in.stunning decor ,great service. Great food.lobster was excellent. Even the owner was hands on . Enjoyed the night totally

I found this place online and thought we would give it a try. first the location was lovely. Elevated views looking over the water with the beautiful lights reflecting off the water. The decor is eclectic a mix of old and new which seems to go together and give this place it’s own personality. The staff are really lovely the owners and staff are attentive and want to ensure you have a wonderful dining experience. We started with the chestnut and manjimup truffle soup. Oh my this was just divine the other starter ordered was the crispy great Southern pork belly which was generous and just as lovely. Main we both had the Geraldton lobster which was as amazing as the menu described. The wine list was one of the most extensive I have seen in Australia. An amazing dining experience in beautiful Perth.

I would say that this restaurant has a great visual impact and very scenic. I enjoyed our degustation menu, but was not so impressed to come back..

Excellent Dining Experience<br/> We have always wanted to enjoy a Skyshow from Friends Restaurant so we booked a table with a fantastic view of the river and fireworks.<br/>  This is by far our favourite restaurant.   The menu on the night was extensive with many choices available.<br/> The stand out for me was the Lobster Thermidor sourced locally it was outstanding!<br/>  Clyde recommended some local wines to accompany our meal and they were perfect<br/>.  Staff were attentive and the hosts Clyde and Lesley are wonderful.  It was a fantastic night, can’t wait to go again. <br/> Thank you Friends!

This restaurant is fine dining at its best. Delicious melt in your mouth food. Flavours that burst in your mouth, a sensory overload with superbly plated master pieces. Fabulous service and friendly staff. My husband and I love coming back time and time again.

Wow! Dining at this restaurant was an experience beyond. It is truly how a fine dining restaurant should be. The service has to be one of the best I've ever seen. Very attentive staff who give you your space as well. Ambience is excellent with dim lighting to set the mood. We were delighted by the surprise complimentary dishes throughout the evening. We tried Barramundi and quinoa with canneloni for main which were just amazing. The sides of asparagus and potatoe fondant were not so good but that is a minor complaint. We had the chocolate & apricot cake & chocolate meringue dishes for dessert. The choc & apricot cake was sophisticated..you kept discovering more flavours with every bite. The meringue dessert was a bit less impressive as it felt a bit dry. We even got a rose as a parting gift. Overall a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended!

I have been to Friends a handful of times and it has always delivered high quality and most importantly tasty food. However my last visit to Friends wasn’t up to its usual standards. I had the Decadent menu and it could only be described as average. The food was fairly bland, lacked flavour and didn’t have any wow factor which is not what you expect for “fine dining”. The wait for the food also took longer then usual in fact it took 40 minutes between each course. Overall it was a let down compared to the times when I have been before.
Laura
Amazing food and great friendly service. Thoroughly enjoyed your degustation menu, everything was cooked to perfection. Thanks for the great experience.

Nice ambiance and attentive staff, loved the coconut Icecream. The view is excellent and above expectation. Overall would recommend this place as a fine dining  venue.

A lovely evening - truffle degustation. Beautiful food, perfect service over and above expectations. Wine matching was perfect. Can't wait to return, thank you.

This food at this restaurant is perfect!! I have now been to Friends at least 15 times and I have not had a single dish that I didn't like, the service is second to none and the wine list is extensive.

Amazing fine dine place, overlooking the Swan River.  We had the seafood degustation and every dish were very well presented. Food was excellent- Gratinated Scallops and Lime Souffle with Coconut ice-cream were soooo good, i wish i had seconds! Service was top-notch and definitely a highly recommended dining place for a special occasion. The only down side for me was the really sour taste from the pickled onions & citrus emulsion in the baked barramundi dish; a bit too sour as a whole that it marred the taste of the beautifully cooked fish. Other than that, everything was of high-standard.

We recently dined at Friends and very much enjoyed the dining experience. All the food dishes were simply excellent in their presentation & taste - First class compliments to the kitchen!   Service staff was excellent as is the traditional setting, which overlooks Langley Park and Swan river. There is plenty of parking in the area which is convenient.   My only negative comment is that the managing lady (a mature woman) seemed to put on a rather sour face towards our table - unsure if that is because we have young children (who were at times a bit rowdy) or another reason unrelated .  To be fair,  we highly recommend Friends for a fine dining experience and we are likely to return  again for a special occasion.

Always love an evening at Friends Restaurant. Amazing food, a wine list like no other and fantastic entertainment.<br/>The staff are always very friendly and professional. Would highly recommend.

Don't think I've ever rated a place 5 stars but this was the best dining experience I've ever had, based on a few elements. Atmosphere, service, food and that wow factor that makes you feel truly special and important. A really neat thing I liked about this place is you can get a really decent glass of wine without it breaking the bank which made the evening all the more pleasant.<br/>The view is beautiful, such a romantic place to take a loved one to watch the sunset and the atmosphere inside is truly the most comforting, lights are dimmed yet it still feels warm and cosy (unlike the dimmed lights at Rockpool which make it feel a little sterile). It must be the soft surfaces but it was so calm and quiet here which is rare for a busy restaurant and really fuelled the intimacy felt at our table. <br/><br/>Waiters are formal yet very welcoming and do not hassle you too much to buy more drinks etc which is refreshing. They brought to the table and introduced many complimentary transitional tapas between meals which were delightful. I had the scallops for a starter and they melted in my mouth! The lamb was also the best I've had for mains - the jus was the superstar that brought the dish to new angelic Heights. My partner had the duck which he said was a bit fiddly for him personally but still tasty. <br/>For dessert we shared the sugarless? Chocolate cheesecake with popcorn as the topping, it was really an experience and had clearly been designed to hit you with complimentary flavours and pleasing textures. <br/>I'd also recommend the jaffa cocktail if that's your thing! <br/><br/>Definitely a place to go celebrate a special occasion. <br/>

I came here for my partners birthday. <br/>The food and wine were amazing, aswell as the service! Everyone was so friendly, it was an awesome experience and I will definitely be coming back some time in the future!

Wow. Enjoyed a birthday degustation at Friends. Excellent service by all the staff. Delicious dishes with beautiful presentation and plenty of outstanding elements. Additional amuse bouche, palate cleanser and petit fours. There's a romantic, old-world atmosphere that styles the restaurant. It is so charming. Night ended with the very gracious hostess give a gift of a flower! Friends is a class above. Highly recommended.

Food is delicious and servings are quite generous. The corn and mushroom soup was amazing! Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Didnt expect to get so many complimentary dishes - a very nice surprise. Definitely left with a full stomach and even a flower as a gift.

Went to see Hermans Hermits who were fantastic and belied their ages. Totally professional and good size venue for the event and the band played to a full and happy crowd. Unfortunately the evening was let down by the food as the main course was almost inedible as the slow cooked beef was destroyed and represented a slimy mass on the plate accompanied by the minimal amount of accompaniment of vegetables. This was supported on other tables by the amount of uneaten food the was returned to the kitchen. Shame!
Linds
Food here is delicious and the service is exemplary. We had the five course degustation and enjoyed every course. Restaurant has a lovely ambience for a romantic evening.

Fabulous food and fine wine served by professional staff. Absolutely delicious food, the chef never fails to deliver on taste and presentation. It is no wonder that we have been customers of this great Perth restaurant for years and will continue to do so. The meal and show nights like tonight are great value for money.

WHAT A NIGHT!!!! I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing food and wonderful service that I received at an event I attended there the other night. <br/><br/><br/>For days after the event my friends and I were still talking about what a unique and treasured experience we'd had. The owners are obviously seasoned professionals. They skilfully transformed eating out to create a dining experience they took in all of our senses.<br/><br/>I could not recommend this venue more highly for an event. They treat you like royalty and will leave everyone with special memories and something to talk about for years to come.<br/><br/>Can't wait to go back !!
Alejandra Nucette
Awesome food! Came in with my partner for the truffle dego and we loved everything about it. The service was gorgeous, the food was fantastic (every dish was delicious and beautifully presented, so it's hard to pick a favourite but I guess I'll go with the one sheet pumpkin lasagna) and the wine pairing was spot on. Heck, I even went home with a flower! What else can you ask for?!?
Suzanne
Without a doubt this is one of Perth’s best restaurants! It certainly feels like a special occasion venue with its outstanding food and superb wine list, but don’t limit yourself. Once you sample the menu, experience the setting, the ambience and warmth of the staff, you will keep coming back. And if you’re lucky, you could catch some live music. There really is something special about it – do yourself a favour and check it out.

I've had the pleasure of dining at Friends Restaurant on several occasions and have yet to be disappointed. With it's unique charm, surprising complimentary dishes and a view overlooking the East Perth foreshore and the Swan river, Friends is truly a dining experience not to be missed. Wonderful food and warm, friendly wait staff make this my go-to restaurant for evenings in Perth. Definitely a must try for anyone looking for a true fine dining experience.
Lee_n_mick
Amazing food, we were also spoilt with lots of little extras between the courses we ordered. The staff are super attentive but somehow you forget that they are there and you feel like you are the only people in the world enjoying the experience. The ambience is so lovely and the décor is very decadent. I highly recommend the truffle menu. Yum!

We have been meaning to go to Friends for years and finally made it there last night. It was totally worth the wait; wonderful food, fabulous wine, exceptional service and a lovely ambience.<br/>I highly recommend this restaurant if you want a lovely, intimate dinner. Friends is the epitome of fine dining with all the class and comfort of a top restaurant. We will be going back soon.

Wow, what incredible food and service. Great value <br/>We had the eight course menu with wine pairings. We'd strongly recommend this venue to friends.

Dined at Friends using the entertainment card but felt bad to use it as the food was so good plus they included a few complimentary dishes even though we shared an entree and desert. 5 star service plus I got given an orchard flower when leaving. Loved this restaurant! ❀
TT
Pros: great food, very generous with their serving size, even more generous with their truffle, few extra dishes complimentary on top of what being ordered.<br/><br/>Cons: dislike the setting and decor of this place, outdated. The female owner is every distracting racing up and down the restaurant, very...

My boyfriend and I dined at Friends Restaurant using a Groupon last night. It was the best value for money. The 5-courses were absolutely divine and the service was 10/10. They went above and beyond to make our anniversary special, by lighting a fire sparkler and handing me a rose when leaving. My favourite dish was the scallops, but they all were delicious. <br/>I hope they continue to do Groupons as I will most certainly be back!
Lunarcry
Went on a groupon voucher. 5 courses: the French onion soup, Coquilles Saint-Jaques scallops, duck confit, beef fillet and Grand Marnier soufflé. Was stuffed to the brim by the fourth course. Portion sizes are generous and certainly not typical degustation menus! Go there with a big appetite!

I can't rate this restaurant more highly. The food is amazing, the wines outstanding, but what really sets this dining experience above others is the atmosphere. Clyde and Leslie know what every diner is having and are so passionate about the food and the wine. Their attention to detail is second to none, and all of the staff are extremely professional and seem to love their job, and it shows. I have not had a bad experience here in at least 5 visits, and cannot wait to return again.

Fantastic from start to finish We were met at the door by a very polite staff member who took us to our table which was near the windows overlooking the Swan River, drinks were ordered and the meal was served when I first saw the size of the dishes I was thinking I am going to leave here hungry, far from it by the time we had finished our 5 courses we were will filled with a range of beautiful dishes which were served just at the right intervals, our Host Clyde checked with us on many occasions making sure everything was to our satisfaction. I would recommend this venue to anybody who loves good food and great service
Sarah McDonald
Cannot be faulted, absolutely amazing experience. I have dined here several times and the food & service cannot be faulted. Such a warm welcoming into the restaurant and you feel like being invited into the owners home. Incredible food, incredible wine list and incredible service. The owner was even so concerned we wouldn't make the show we had following the dinner and drove us there personally, now that is service at its best. Such a beautiful view to watch the sunset as well. This restaurant is a must to go to.
Graham Jakins
My wife and I took her niece and her husband here for a promised birthday celebration meal. The restaurant has a great ambiance, the tables are not crowded next to each other so we could talk easily at the table. The service is impeccable and the food is amazing. The food choice covered all our differing palates and was excellently presented and tasted delicious. We would heartily recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a top class meal in glorious surroundings. We have also been to the event nights and even these - with a fixed menu - do not skimp on the quality and service.

Herman's Hermits. Dinner and a show. Overall, a great night was had by all.<br/><br/>When I booked the tickets, very little information was provided and because they don't send tickets or confirmation of purchase I was quite uncertain in the lead up to the event. I also wasn't informed that it would be a set menu. Luckily it came up in discussion prior to the event so I rang and asked. When I told them our table's dietary requirements they were very accommodating however so that is great.<br/><br/>The service was outstanding without being overbearing and the atmosphere was intimate and friendly. <br/><br/>The food was fancy. Fun to try truffle mayo and spun sugar etc but not the sort of meal I would actively seek out. Those with a more discerning palate can provide the food critique. <br/><br/>After dinner, the host asked that we dont chat during the show. I was worried that it was going to be a stuck up show where we couldn't sing aling. Thankfully, I was wrong. By the end, lots were dancing, nearly everyone was singing and even though I was the youngest in a much older crowd, I felt comfortable and welcome. <br/><br/>In short, I went for the show and will return for other shows and the great service.

Just everything is perfection ...its real and amazing food staff ambience if i could list more accolades i would..lucky we went before clyde and leslie take a well earned break

Flawless from start to finish. Had the truffle degustation and we were all impressed by the service and quality of food. The serving sizes were super generous! I've never had a degustation with such huge serving sizes before. The waiter was super polite and friendly, and also such beautiful views. We were also given flowers as we left which we thought was very sweet of them.

nothing to fault <br/><br/>we came on a Tuesday night and ordered the truffle degustation (we bought the offer on some coupon site)<br/><br/>I was recommended here by my brother <br/>and boy did it live up to the hype!!!<br/><br/>the food was delicious <br/>5 courses which truffle was used<br/>and it was amazing<br/><br/>the portions were massive for a degustation menu, so large that I had to force feed myself to finish it ( I decided to force feed myself because it was THAT GOOD)<br/><br/>great old school decor<br/>and very very friendly staff <br/><br/>highly recommend for anyone who enjoys fine dining <br/><br/>
Sybarite
This restaurant is faultless. One of few places in Perth that does complimentary appetisers and palate cleansers and the like. The dining experience was perfectly timed, food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I will most definitely be back time and time again.
Om.nom.nom
My friends and I dined here twice for the 2015 truffle degustation. Not a bad effort but it would have been nice if they could put some truffle in the dishes. Pretentious service, cocky unhelpful management, terrible truffle incorporation.
Eat Pray Love
Never disappointed. Great wine list. Degustations are alway exciting and not over complicated. They know how to match wines too. Older decor has a warm feel.
River Daisy
We had dinner here last night - the truffle degustation menu with matching wines. It was superb.<br/><br/>This is not a place for groups of young (or old) hipsters to hang out. The drinks do not come in recycled jam jars with paper straws and the food is not served on wooden planks. <br/><br/>This restaurant is exactly as The Woman from OZ has described it, and it was lovely to experience such an elegant - some might even say 'old fashioned' - style of dining.

This was our 3rd visit to Friends but our first at a "shared" table.  The night was very cold outside and so when we arrived and checked the set menu to see cold entree and cold dessert - pretty disappointing

..I know they have to serve a lot when there is a show but hey
soup would have gone down so well!!  Main course was okay but must admit other issues were jading my evening by then!  So back to the shared table

.the couple next to me were speaking so loudly and obviously new friends or something similar because they were discussing how their night was going to finish up?? I will leave that to your imagination!  By the time the show started they had consumed 2 whole bottles of red wine (good luck with the previous after plans!!) and needless to say were very loud even during the show - despite the announcement at the beginning of the show no chat during the performance.  Well, they were whooping and hollering all the way through - I don't mind a show of appreciation but not in my ear at such close proximity and then - to take the cake -  I was drummed on the back by the female to show her excitement when the performer walked past us!!!!  Not the restaurant's fault I know, but they do tend to push the alcohol a little and just saying
...  $135 per head, no choice of menu and a shared table, may make me think twice about a return - unless I can guarantee a single table.  I can live with the set  menu if the show is good and we haven't seen a bad one yet.

First time to Friends and we had the Truffle Degustation deal that was purchased recently online. <br/>This was a good value 5 course meal with the option of wine selection for each course which was also exceptionally good value.<br/>As a fine dining experience the service was okay <br/>The food was tasty and served in a timely fashion<br/>Our coffee was only luke warm and had been spilt a little prior to being served.<br/>The outlook over the Swan River and Langley Park is very nice, the decor is a bit of a mixture of antique and some serving plates more modern and the carpet was worn at the window which unfortunately was quite <br/>noticeable whilst admiring the view.<br/>Would we return - probably though not in a hurry.

My fiance and I came here for our 8 year anniversary and it was amazing. The restaurant isn't 'new' but thats what gives it their amazingly grand and exuberant ambiance that felt like I was dining on the Titanic overlooking the Swan River. I highly recommend this place to anyone who has never been here, you need to give it a go, especially for a special event or a romantic date night. <br/><br/>Food wise we had the 5 course Truffle degustation which was stunning, it was the best thing I've had in a while. The presentation was immaculate, flavours and textures were perfect, and the portions were so well thought out that it was just right. I was satisfied and not overly bloated nor still hungry. My favourite part was the main of beef cheek, as soon as i put my fork into it, it pulled away with ease and it was a melt-in-mouth experience.<br/><br/>I will most definitely be back, and raving about it to others. Love your work Friends!

I love the food here, it comes well presented and executed well on the plate, great textures and flavours, and the service is excellent. The waiters have knowledge of every dish and are able to answer any questions.

Superb birthday dinner. Friends is my husband's favourite restaurant and for good reason. Our most recent dinner there was just superb - great flavours on the plate and in the glass, and kind attention from the hosts.

The Real, Tasty Deal. My wife and I both had entrees and mains for dinner. All four of the dishes had many flavours at work - much more than just (for example) a steak with greens on the side. We were also given three complementary appertisers, one before entree and two before mains. These were just small samples to give our tastebuds even more to think about but added even more colours to the spectrum. The service was excellent without being invasive. The wine list is huge, but even the Cabernet at the lowest end of the price spectrum was very good. I expect the drinks list has been carefully chosen. Top notch all round - I have paid the same for food of far lower quality.

Special Occasion Dinners. Been going to Friends for many years from when they started in the Swan Valley. Went there last night for our Anniversary and as usual, we were warmly welcomed by the owners and sat down for pre-dinner drinks, which Lesley does to perfection. The food was great, the staff very attentive in a great atmosphere with the restaurant over looking the Swan river. I would recommend Friends for special occasions.

Beautiful degustation menus, good customer service. We really enjoyed the night and definately will return.

Lovely experience. Came here using a voucher for their truffle set menu and was pleasantly surprised. <br/><br/>As another user mentioned earlier, the cheese course was a bit of a let down, however I can say that all the other courses made up for it. <br/><br/>Keep your tastebuds out for the dessert! It's amazing! <br/><br/>I can say that I will be happy to return and pay full price.

You know it’s truffle season and the cooler weather is looming when Friends restaurant, a familiar and loved face on the Perth dining scene, offers its signature truffle degustation dinner. Entering Friends is akin to entering a restaurant of yester year; you feel like you’ve arrived at an establishment in Paris or Prague, complete with carpeted floor and white linen, and a centrepiece piano. There’s nothing contemporary about the atmosphere or decor at Friends, but that’s what makes it special. We sit in the bar area and enjoy a glass of sparkling wine before our meal. The five course set menu showcases truffles from Italy or Australia, and there are several alternatives on the menu for an additional charge, if you have special dietary requirements. The meal as is without any changes is a very generous $65, courtesy of Groupon vouchers. After my truffle degustation experience here last year, I didn’t hesitate when a friend asked me to join her and two other friends to see what culinary delights French chef Frederic had created this time around. House-baked bread is offered once we have placed our orders. First up is the corn, leek and truffle soup with parmesan puff stick, and it is a smooth mild-flavoured starter featuring a mere hint of truffle. Three of us elect to have the chicken roulade for our second course, although The Prof is captivated by the sound of the caramelised beetroot and apple tart. Her dark purple tart with goats cheese ice-cream looks wonderful, but our chicken roulade is nothing short of sensational. The chicken is so tender it melts in the mouth. The subtle infused truffle flavour is perfectly partnered with the mushrooms, rocket, roasted walnuts and piquant baby bell peppers. This is my favourite dish of the evening.

The tasting menu with the five star  matched wines was a perfect example on how to construct a classic culinary experience. The dishes were well thought through, firing on all cylinders with; quality produce, the flavours of the different ingredients interacting well with each other, a broad array of textures on each dish and wonderful aesthetics (both in terms of colours and general presentation). The wines chosen were interesting with some older and more unique wines to keep things interesting. The service was focused on being attentive and efficient rather than being overly friendly – although the hosts were charming. Friends Restaurant would have to be one of the best dining experiences in Australia.   Share this: Twitter Facebook Google Pinterest Email Like this: Like Loading... Flavour and quality. I dined here early on a weeknight and observed this restraunt to be well staffed. The complimentary canapés were 'interesting' and served as a good point of conversation. The entrées were divine and the flavor combinations were beyond perfection. I highly recommend the butternut soup (with black truffle slices on top), and the meat mains were well presented and typical of a classy restraunt. Our choice of 5 different types of complimentary water gave us a bit of a giggle and the service was extra attentive, although we prefer to be left to ourselves. A romantic location to impress a date with a divine dinner. Items generally ranged from $20-50 each.

Sunsets & Surprises!. I have dined here three times in the last two months, a Golden Wedding Anniversary, Christmas Eve and last Saturday for my Sister's birthday. The reason we came back after the Anniversary dinner was that we were so impressed with the food and impeccable (but friendly) service. On Christmas Eve we chose from the a la carte menu and were delighted with the complimentary offerings, so much so that we have told all our friends. On Saturday night my Sister was presented with a miniature dessert (with a sparkler) on a plate with the words Happy Birthday written in chocolate...she was blown away! We will definitely return, however it won't be on a Saturday night....beware the set menu at $95pp...I had no idea! I felt for my Mum who had offered to pay for my Sister's meal and she's on a pension. Overall it was a lovely evening and we were seated (by request) at the window so we were able to see the sunset....beautiful!

Great food, great service. A truly remarkable experience.

Truly outstanding!!. There is simply nothing to add to the already superlative reviews below! Is there a restaurant in Perth that comes close to the standard set by Friends? Professional, friendly, and always seamless, and reflecting the personal effort and expertise that Lesley & Clyde out into this place. Simply the best !!

Great night out. Extensive wine list and a great chef. Highly recommend

Perths best kept secret. Delicious food with five star service. The attention to detail was second to none, our glasses were never allowed to run dry & the wait time between courses was just perfect. The staff were not at all intrusive while still being friendly. A wonderful dining experience.

Last night I went to see a band from the 1960's called 'The Animals' and the whole show was fantastic.<br/>The meal before hand was delicious and so beautifully presented with very proffesional staff serving, The wine list is something to behold as they have a very impressive wine list. I highly recommend you go along and sample the show/meal combination. We've been to Friends restaurant many times and they never disappoint with their very high standard of service and fabulous food.

Perth's Hidden Gem !. Went to Friends Restaurant for lunch today with my cousin . The starters, Esperance Scallops etc and the Confit of Tasmanian Salmon was delicious. Then we went onto the mains - Rack of Lamb and Fillet of Angus Steak which was cooked to perfection . Lastly, For Dessert, we had the Pumpkin pie which was very good, but the Apple Crumble Soufflé was the best dessert I have tasted by far. I must say it was the perfect dining experience, the portions were generous and the service was great. To top it off, we enjoyed coffee with delicate sweet treats while enjoying the beautiful view of the river. We will definitely be back.

People of Perth, we are used to paying large sums of cash for mediocre things. The difference at Friends is that its money well spent.<br/>Everything was beautiful and fresh, the truffle shone through in every dish.... and the steak (jesus wept) it was unreal! <br/>What could make any of this better I hear you say? Well try an uber extensive wine & beer list to boot.<br/>Last but not least, the service is thus far unrivalled by anything we've seen in WA.
Ben Doncon
Sensational Restaurant. Sensational wine list (and a little overwhelming), faultless service, exquisite food. <br/>This kind of service is very rarely found in Western Australia!

Fab Friday night out. I took my nephews out for a birthday dinner treat to Friends. This is not the first time there for me.<br/>The service, as always, was attentive without being intrusive. Clyde and Lesley made us all feel very welcome and at home. The food was fabulous. Beautifully presented and delicious. The courses were well spaced out with tasting plates between each serve, making it almost feel like a degustation meal even though we were ordering from the a la carte menu. The wine list is extensive and has something for everyone. We had a wonderful evening and will be back again.

Went with a voclucher recently to have the truffle tasting menu. Staff were excellent. Soup was v tasty, salmon so so, beef cheeks excellent, cheese plate average and cheesecake v v good. Matching wines went well with all dishes. <br/>Will go again but probably not for the truffle tasting menu.

Was an enjoyable night went.... Was an enjoyable night<br/>went for the Saturday degustation<br/>food was yummy and very decent portions however dessert was very disappointing

Had a great time with the hubby. It wasn't very busy and the hosts are very accommodating! Food was great and I can't wait for another voucher of their 5 course degustation!

Great service. Mushroom soup was delicious. Atlantic cod was fresh and tasty. Beef cheek was soft and didn't need a knife to cut at all! Truffle cheese wasn't what I expected and need more punch and more crackers to go with it. The desert was very rich and I couldn't finish half of it but if you love sweets, then this is definitely for you. We had matching wines and they were worth it.

Awesome food experience. My husband and I treated ourselves to a gourmet dinner at Friends Restaurants and weren't disappointed. This place is a must for those who love overall food experiences that keep delivering throughout the evening. We chose a 10 course taster menu - WOW! Every dish was unique in its flavour, taste, texture, smell and such amazing presentation. <br/><br/>Our only down point on the evening was our view was a little limited as it was pitch black outside and a huge tree blocking our view of the River Swan.<br/><br/>Definitely a must visit to "experience" the food.
Shay Wilson
Amazing food! Truffle degustation yummmm! Only suggestion is pay more to get the beef cheeks swapped to steak!

Truffle Degustation. We went to Friends last night for the first time and had the truffle degustation menu. It was one of the best dinning experiences that I have had, the food was awesome and the service was spot on, will definitely be going back again.
The Flights
The husband and I went in for dinner on a Wednesday evening and we couldn't fault the food or wine. The food is classic fine dining at its best and the wine list extensive (to please every palate). On top of that the service is exceptional (which is rare in Perth). We highly recommend this place.
LGFantastic
Fantastic Experience. We had a lovley dinner seated at the window. The staff are fantastic, friendly, helpful nothing was problem. The food was devine and love all the little touches just made my first dining experience that much better. Best ever resturant especially in Perth. Highly recommend and can't wait to go to a concert I think that would be awesome. Already booked another dinner date :-) Thank you for fantastic food and service!!

We had a wonderful meal in this restaurant last night. I had the pork bello for starter which was yum and the steak for my main and it was melt in my mouth. Def recommend this restaurant. Food was gorgeous and staff were very friendly And catered for my food allergies. Thumbs up

Our go to resaurant. The food is always to die for, The description in the menu doesn't ready you for the tasty piece of art that they set down in front of you. <br/><br/>The atmosphere for a couple or group is great with a wine list that makes you wish you had your own collection at home. <br/><br/>The staff are attentive and well mannered, always ready to top your glass and make sure that everything is ok with your food.<br/><br/>The host's are charming and always in the mood for a friendly chat.<br/><br/>Will be back many more times.

Wonderful night. Tuesday night dinner and a show. Fantastic atmosphere, lovely food and great service. The entertainment was really good aswell, our whole table had a great night. The beef cheek was melt in your mouth yummy and the baked cheesecake was delicious!! Will definitely return for another special occasion.

Wonderful. Amazing food, great service, friendly and relaxed in a refined atmosphere! Recommended for a special evening out!

Very memorable evening, top-notch food. I bought a voucher for dinner and a show from one of those discount coupon websites, and don't regret it. Went there with my friend, and they seated us on a table with 4 others, which was good because it got us all socialising. The liked the atmosphere and decor, classic French style but not tacky, but not too wannabe posh like some of the expensive restaurants. The service was friendly but casual (they didn't put on airs or act snobby), which I liked.<br/><br/>I'd never had terrine before, but the chicken terrine was deliciously creamy, if one could get over comparisons with the texture of dog food haha. The main course - angus beef cheek with, if I recall, mash, and some sort of reduction with some carrots which served more as decoration, was exquisite. The beef melted in your mouth and exploded with flavour, while the other components complimented the taste beautifully.<br/><br/>The dessert, cheesecake with salted caramel ice cream, was probably the highlight, transported to tastebud heaven.<br/><br/>The Edith Piaf show was also top quality and very enjoyable. Overall a very enjoyable evening, would highly recommend Friends Restaurant.
Never Return
Have been there 7 months ago. What impressed me was their dessert. Really taste good and well presentation. But the same thing was disappointed me 2 months ago when I went for groupon function. We had panna cotta as dessert but it was awful. It was melting when it's on the table. I saw it almost fall down on the plate! It can't be told that it was made by a professional chef, if their chef is. I can even feel that they might changed the chef because 7 months ago was totally different. Come on, please don't put a home baker in this authentic French restaurant.
Eatingismyhobby
Memorable Experience. I ate here a few years ago and the fact I am writing this just now will be a testament to how memorable the evening was. I took my partner here for his birthday and we decided on a 5 course menu served during truffle season. Each meal was delicious- I specifically remember the terrine which tasted amazing, especially with the truffle shavings which were optional. The staff were so kind and friendly it made the night all the more special.
Chicken Mcnugget
Decor was outdated, we have been there twice first time was amazing for dinner however lunch at this establishment was far from great.<br/>Food had no aromas nor flavour and the flavour that did come with the meal.<br/>The desert was the good part of the meal but looked as though my grandmother presented the dish.<br/>We won't be returning waste of money.

Went here for lunch w hubby on our day off. We were after a fine dining restaurant experience. That's exactly what we got. Canapés were offered. Delicious. We ordered barramundi and lamb. Both perfect. Date soufflé and poached pear for dessert. Both good. Coffee perfect. Recommended wine and beer excellent. Service was friendly, quick, accurate. Decor classic, elegant, beautiful, comfortable. Didn't think it possible but I would rate Friends as a 10/10 this is MY opinion. My only question is why was there basil in most dishes? Canapés, both mains and both desserts? Still will be visiting again

Amazingly delicious food and wine! I'm in foodie heaven. The service and atmosphere were beautiful, we had a fabulous night. Highly recommend Friends and my partner and I will go back in a heartbeat.

West's best. We have returned many times to this restaurant and always walk away contented knowing that we made the right choice again. We are made to feel special and as we use this for our special occasions it is worth every cent. Looking forward to the next birthday.

Orgasm on a Plate. Over the years we have enjoyed the food and ambiance of Friends, including the cabaret nights which are fantastic, so this week we visited for an anniversary dinner. The music was taped jazz on this occasion and even combined with busy restaurant chatter, we could maintain a conversation without shouting. Wonderful. The food was delicious - causing my husband to state that his Duo of Rack of Lamb was like an orgasm on a plate - and the wait staff were excellent. Clyde and Lesley have got this business down to a fine art. No wonder they have a swag of awards under their belt, including the American Spectator's Award for Excellence for one of the best restaurant wine lists in the world. No need to wait for a special occasion. Just go!

Just Perfect. We finally got round to trying Friends Restaurant after procrastinating for years. We had heard nothing but great things about the restaurant from locals but we were always out of town for major occasions, and we live quite far out of the city. <br/><br/>Perhaps the main reason we hadn't been here until last week was that we had been so disappointed with fine dining in Perth. Don't get me wrong, Perth has some great cafes and restaurants, but fine dining has always been disappointing for us. There are numerous small cafes and casual restaurants in Perth that serve great food with enthusiastic service and we had just about resigned ourselves to only eating at top restaurants while abroad. This was only a minor inconvenience given the fantastic lifestyle here. <br/><br/>What a revelation Friends was! Booking was handled competently and efficiently, with suggestions for parking. We were greeted warmly and sat at a beautifully-laid window table. After our order was taken, the waitress discreetly reset the cutlery and glassware for our needs. By this point it was pretty obvious the staff new what they were doing.<br/><br/>The menu was divided between a la carte and a choice of degustation menus. We chose from the a la carte but the degustation menu looked equally delicious. What surprised me most was how reasonable the prices are. Nobody could ever describe fine dining in Perth as inexpensive but Friends was very reasonable compared to much lesser restaurants. There is pub grub in Currambine that is more expensive! After deciding on the food I looked at the wine list which can only be described as extensive. A nice touch was that several wines were available by the glass. We settled on a bottle of Bolly and a glass of red to go with my main.<br/><br/>It is difficult to say which was the best part of the evening: the ambiance, the food, or the service. All were first rate and would not be out of place in a Michelin-starred restaurant in Europe. The standouts for the food were the mushroom in flaky pastry, the banana souffle and the nicest soup I have ever eaten. Service was impeccable throughout. Finally, we have found a world-class restaurant in Perth, and at reasonable prices.

Excellent food, service and ambiance. Friends will always be one of Perth's traditional and iconic eateries. I hadn't been in a couple years and we purchased the Groupon mid-week truffle degustation offer they had last night and it was just delightful. Food was delicious and affordable - there were main upgrades where you could have a 400g rib eye for $10 or wagyu fillet for only $20! They wagyu was 'melt in your mouth' quality-something which would easily cost in excess of $80 elsewhere. The fine dining experience there hasn't dropped a single notch. My partner (who is a big guy and big eater) was full to the brim and loved it! Friends will definitely become our new local when we feel like spoiling ourselves!!!

Amazing is better than Amuseing. My husband and I dined at Friends last night. We had the Manjimup Truffle Degustation and what an amazing meal experience it was, from the moment we arrived to our departure. As we walked up to the restaurant the vigilant staff opened the door for us, very welcome on such a cold and blustery night. The menu was presented and explained by our waitress and we elected to take advantage of the matched wines, a bargain for the quality of the wines which had been chosen with great care to complement each dish. The first dish, the 11 vegetable soup with herbs and grated black truffle was possibly the dish of the evening, vying with the melt in your mouth, eat it with a spoon, succulent, flavoursome, awesome beef cheek in red wine sauce with truffle mashed potato and seasonal vegetables. I was in heaven. Throughout the meal, the level of service was outstanding with the owner making numerous visits to the table to ensure we were enjoying our experience. The thought put into the details, the flowers on each table, the quality glassware, the linen, the perfect serving plate for each dish is a credit to the team at this fantastic Perth Icon that has never failed to impress on any of the many occasions I have dined.

As good as ever. Actually, the truffle degustation meal we had last Thursday may even have been one of the best meals we've had anywhere. This is a restaurant we've been to on many occasions, and we've never been disappointed. The food, the wine list, the ambience, the hosts, all first class. Can't wait till the next time!

Fantastic. We dined there Thursday 20th June 13 on a voucher for their Truffle degustation with 5 courses.<br/>We decided to get matching wines each at $35 a head and were glad we did. They matched perfectly.<br/>What a wonderful menu. It was so delicious. The chef is outstanding.<br/>Even the day after we could remember what we had and reminisced about the yummy flavours.<br/>We are now on their mailing list and intend to return on one of the concert nights. Sounds fantastic.<br/>My only complaint would be the serving staff. Very wooden. No comments when any dish was complimented and very few smiles. Even when the dishes were served very dour.
Rosie
Traditional, fine dining restaurant. We had purchased a reasonably priced voucher for a five course truffle degustation. As the offer was not available for a weekend night, we opted for a Thursday instead. We also chose the matched wines for $35 each.<br/><br/>The restaurant is very traditional in its dĂ©cor and the waiting staff attire. As could be expected the quality of the dinner ware was also very good.<br/><br/>The food was all very appetising and tastefully arranged, however, I don’t think a lot of truffle was actually used in the dishes as the flavour was very subtle. The wines were all very fine and perfectly suited the chosen dishes.<br/><br/>It was a nice night but I don’t think I’ll be rushing back – although undoubtedly fine dining, it was all just a bit too staid and traditional for me.
Jason
Fine Dinning at its best in Perth. Friends restaurant has been my go-to for special occasions and I have been blown away by not only the food but also the service. Every dish delivered was an amazing combination of ingredients I would have never thought would result in such an incredible journey for the taste buds. The owners have trained their staff to what can only be described as best practice for others to emulate. If you are looking for a truly top shelf experience in Perth, this has to be it for sure. 10 out of ten every time Friends...and thanks for the memories.

Yummy Truffle Menu.... We had the absolute pleasure of coming in for the 5 course truffle menu with matching wines for hubbies birthday on Tuesday 29th. What gorgeous food....some of the best we have eaten...truffle soup amazing, beef cheeks tender and rich, presentation and service very attentive and smooth. Clyde went out of his way to make our night a special one...top host, very personable. We have been meaning to visit Friends for ages now ..and very glad we did..go ...you won't be disappointed! Thanks.

The best meals we have ever eaten have been from friends !!!

Food was good but service but was not friendly. I think the service was faultless, quiet seamless staff memebers, but firnedly...welcoming no:( Is this because we and practically all the diners were on the 5 course truffle vouchers (50% off) probably. That was the vibe.. the owners were not rude...but friendly no. And in all five courses did someone just once ask us if we had enjoyed our meal ...no. When we left..and paid..no.<br/>Good food can be had throughout perth, friendly service is something to go back for. I understand the concept of taking on discounts to get diners into your business, but you are creating word of mouth/good will. This did not happen the night we came. :(<br/>stand out dish..the truffle soup.<br/>dish to avoid..beef cheeks..stringy and fatty.

Just reading the mains $ 45 for onion compot with a turnip layer !! Wtf !! Has Perth gone completely mad!!

A wonderful experience, a great combination of excellent food, beautifully presented and superior, seamless service. The hospitality shown by Lesley, Clyde and their service team made for a memorable dining experience which was like a culinary journey. This place is worthy if international standards a rarity in the Perth dining scene.

Something special. On our recent visit to Friends, my wife, dear mum and I were welcomed at the door by owners Clyde and Lesley and treated to friendly, attentive service for the rest of the evening. My most difficult chore was to select from the extensive wine menu, but Clydes knowledge and advice ensured our selection was a perfect accompaniment to our meals. My entree of marron with eggplant and capsicum terrine was delicious and beautifully plated and my main of perfectly pink, pistachio crusted rack of lamb equally enjoyable.Mum had the same as me, and my wife had a warm quail salad followed by Rankin cod which was also perfectly cooked. None of us were able to sample dessert but retired to the lounge to enjoy coffee and petit fours. The warm ambience great food and excellent service did not disappoint.

Amazing 10 Course Tasting Menu!. Clyde I never got a chance to thank you for the amazing food, wine, service and finally the complimentary glass of wine. My wife and I had a great time and we both agree that we will back in the future. Thanks again to you and your excellent team.

Exceptional service. What stood out for me as a diner, was the friendly and welcoming service not only upon entry but throughout your dining experince. All staff were lovely and aware of each diners movements. The food....as I expected. Great tasting, great looking, perfect portions, and very well spaced meals. The additional "compliments of the Chef meals" were a delicate and appreciated touch, which encourages me to come back again!

THIS IS CLOSE TO HEAVEN. This Restaurant is close to HEAVEN, Food and Service all FANTASTIC.<br/>One Power Ball and I would eat here 7 days a week.

Great Food & Wine. Upmarket, polished restaurant with excellent food and a "to die-for" wine list. Pity the wine-by-the-glass menu was not a bit more extensive.Decor a blast from a Laura Ashley era. Generous portions - didn't have room for dessert ! Ox-tail terrine was crunchy and flavoursome. Unfortunately, the ambuse-bouche of coffin bay oysters was a little overfried but the carrot & ginger soup was bursting with flavour. Never fails to disappoint.<br/><br/><br/>-----24 Jan, 2013-----<br/><br/>Consistently Excellent. Go there are least twice year. Dego menu with matching 5* wines never fails to disappoint. Wines are well selected, food is balanced, polished and service is usually spot on.

Went for lunch. Once we got past the shock of having landed back in 1980's decor, we enjoyed a really lovely meal and excellent service. Couldn't fault it. Smoked salmon starter and barramundi main were superb

Excellent!. My partner and I had an amazing dinner at Friends on the last night of our recent honeymoon. The staff made us feel comfortable and welcome. The service was amazing and so was the food. <br/>The owner took a special interest in us and it was delightful to talk to him. <br/><br/>We enjoyed a lovely slow dining experience with a number of beatiful dished compliments of the house. The Harvey Beef was delicious and tender while the pork belly was absolutely to die for. It was also plated beautifully. <br/><br/>I would reccomend this resturant to anyone, do not be put off by the floral curtains!

Absolutely Great!!. Went here on 29th Dec 2012 whilst on a 3 day break in Perth. Everything, from the ambience of the venue, to the spectacular sunset from our seats was perfect. The friendly staff could not do more for you and the food was prepared and delivered with love. The complimentary appetizers and palate cleansers were a delightful finishing touch. The smoked salmon entree was like a landscape picture on a plate and included some very interesting items to tantalise the taste buds. The Kangaroo melted in your mouth and the praline souffle that was recommended to me didn't dissappoint. Top this off with a fantastic selection of recommended wines to accompany each course and we ended up with a faultless night out..... Hard to top it the next day:)

No more needs to be said!. Simply sublime 10/10

“Absolutely Perfect. From the moment we were warmly greeted at the door until we left late in the evening everything was perfect. The service is efficient and the staff attentive without being fussy. They are a credit to their profession. The food was superb with a varied menu. The steak melted in the mouth, the turkey was cooked to perfection and the kangaroo succulent. And the desserts were heavenly. The wine list is the finest I have ever seen with wine from very reasonable prices up to some of the worlds greatest vintages. All this coupled with a beautiful setting and views over the Swan River makes Friends one of the finest restaurants on the planet.

Friends. Last Friday night we had our anniversary dinner here and it was amazing- food, service and ambience of this restaurant is so good and unmatched anywhere else in Perth. <br/>And every visit is more perfect then the previous....5 stars

Went to see rocky horror "it's astounding" show. Food was great! Service impeccable and great friendly atmosphere. I'd now like to try the restaurant without a show :)

The best restaurant I have ever been to by far!. I have never been more impressed with a restaurant in my life! I booked this for my girlfriend 26th birthday. As we were taken to our table by the owner we asked if we were there for a special occasion. When I told him that it was my girlfriend’s birthday he was genuinely excited that we had chosen his restaurant. The whole evening was amazing. We had the degustation menu and the food was absolutely amazing. My girlfriend who is usually a fussy eater did not leave a skerrick of any of the courses on her plate. The owner even brought round a truffle (worth about $2000) for us to smell and when we said we had never tried it he shaved a number of shavings onto our bread place and then came back later and added more to out soup. The decor of the restaurant is so warm and comfortable. To top the night off after we had finished our dessert the owner had remembered it was my girlfriend birthday and the wait staff brought out a macaroon and a chocolate with a candle in it and happy birthday dusted onto the plate. I don’t usually leave review but this was just that amazing.<br/><br/>Thank you Friends Restaurant for an unforgettable night!!

Top class. My partner and I had a wonderful meal at Friends, from the moment we arrived and were welcomed by the friendly staff to the moment we left, everything was top class, the food beautiful, the superb service which was attentive and unobtrusive, the ambiance is just excellent. We will definatley be back again.

What an Awesome Night!. My husband and I went to Friends Restaurant last thursday night for the first time to see Diesel!! I'm a huge fan, but the venue was fantastic. The food was amazing - 3 courses and coffee and the wait staff were just..... well what can I say, we left on such a high note we are most defiantly going back!!!! Thank you Friends
Tim
More...you want mooorrre?. I know with 'fine dining' you should expect small meals but in the case of Friends, serving sizes are small to the extreme. Yes I acknowledge that they give you little appetizers between meals, but it still wasn't enough (the truffle soup is amazing though).<br/><br/>My boyfriend and I got a good laugh out of the decor though (seriously though, we understand that its not easy for restaurants to find the time and funding to do renovations)!

Never have I ever been so disappointed. Simply the worst experience and value for money I have ever had. Hopefully things have changed since I was there in mid 2010 - but the memory of the poor service, below par food on cold plates still has me reeling after nearly two years. I left the establishment $600 poorer and under-fed. I felt like I had been mugged! Never again will I visit this dump.

Very disappointed!. We had been looking forward to going to friends for ages, but unfortunately the experience left much to be desired from a 'fine dining' establishment. We opted for the 5 course degustation. After placing our order we were offered some bread, and within a couple of minutes our first course arrived. It was a beet root dish, fairly average, not much cooking required. No sooner had we finished and literally 5 minutes after our soup arrived. This was probably the best dish of the night. Again, we did not have more than a 7or so minute break before the next dish arrived. I had the terrine, again quite average. not another 10 minutes had passed and our main arrived. At this point, we has been in the restaurant for no more than an hour and felt completely rushed through the meal. For a degustation, you expect not to be rushed through the event as we were. For me, my main was the most disappointing, I had beef fillet cooked medium. It was very tough, certainly not what you would expect from a medium beef fillet in this type of a restaurant. At this point before dessert I asked the waitress if we could have a break before dessert of 20mins to half an hour. I was sorry I said anything, it took just over 50 minutes for the dessert to come! After being rushed through the whole meal, then such a hold up at the end it was disapoining. For dessert I had the hazelnut brûlée. What can I say, I think it was too ambitious, way to many flavours in the dish, so much is I ate the icecream and left the brûlée. My partner had the souflee, which they did not manage to pull off at all. It is supposed to be light and fluffy, but instead was really rubbery, so much he left most of it too. We had high expectations of this place, hearing about the chef and reference to Michelin stars. We have dined in many Michelin star restaurants in London and the south of France over the past year, and this, even for Perth, is not fine dining standard of food. The presentation of the food is good, but the quality does not back it up. Definitely will not be back!

Highly recommend eating here when there are special events/packages are available. Have ate here several times and it has not dissapointed. Best night would have had to been the Rocky Horror Show! Food is fantastic and i'm not one to fuss on service but they really do look after you here!

Ok so the decor maybe a little outdated and there is probably a high chance thay many people in Perth have already shared the 'friends' experience but if you are one of the unfortunate few that have not then..... Stop wasting time and get down there!! After many years traveling the globe and having experienced some of the worlds 'finest' cuisine's, I thought I had seen it all. After dining at Friends resturant tonight I had to change my tune. I can honestly say that I have never experienced such a high level of standard, service and attention to detail before in my life. I would like to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to the entire team at Friends for making the night one to remember!

Best Meal Ever. I went to Friends Restaurant tonight. I had the waygu beef entree, beef fillet main and the macadamia nut souffle. I have to say that I just got home and made a new account on Urban Spoon to tell everyone how magnificent and perfect it was. The entree was amazing, full of flavour and extremely filling- it was a perfect amount of saltiness and sophistication. The beef fillet paired with delicious purees, cooked to perfection and with brilliant potato "fat chips" made me almost collapse. I thought that the main would be the best dish if the evening but when I tasted the souffle... I knew that it would be one of the best things I would ever eat in my life! It was warm and just the right amount of sweetness mixed with the nutty flavour and aroma.. thinking that it simply could not get any better I paired the souffle with the chocolate icecream and biscuit and couldn't believe what I was tasting! I am so happy I tried for the dessert even though it seemed impossible ( as the other meals were quite filling and flavoursome).. Paired with FANTASTIC cocktails such as the Cosmopolitans and a lovely tingle drink that the waitress suggested for us it made for an absolutely perfect evening with brilliant customer service that I doubt will be rivalled anytime soon.

Highly unamusing. Having been to this restaurant numerous times over the years, the disappointment I experienced and the rudeness I was subjected to from the owner when I questioned the table we had been given, despite having booked (and paid) four months previously, still astounds me. It's clear Mr & Mrs Bevan you don't need my patronage and that's a good thing, because you certainly won't be getting it again. At the end of the day, as a friend put it, it's like going to a wedding; you don't get any say and have to put up with what you get. By the way, for a restaurant that prides itself on it's wine service, an ice bucket with ICE would have been appreciated. VERY average.

Beautiful food. Hands down some of the best food I have ever eaten. We had the 10 course meal- a little pricey but the experience was worth ever cent. The atmosphere is lovely and the owners are super friendly. Definitely worth trying.

Friends Review. My experince at Friends Restaurant the other week exceeded my already high expectations by far!<br/><br/>The service was exceptional, the waitress was great with recommending wines to accomany the meal and the food was just as beautiful to look at as it was to eat. complements to the chef.<br/><br/>I would definitely recommend Friends Restaurant

Marg & gunz. We have visited Friends restraurant on numerous occasions and have enjoyed the meals and shows immensely. Also we have been very impressed with the service provided by the staff and the courteous manner in which all patrons requests are attended to. It is the best night out I have experienced and that includes the many places I have visited overseas. Well done!

Pleasantly surprised. Apart from the old style decor, the service was great. The food was wonderful and tasty. The restaurant is not very loud so you can take a date and actually talk to each other and hear each other. We recently went to Rockpool and this restaurant killed them! Very enjoyable experience.

We Liked it. Had a fantastic degustation menu. Superb!

This is the best so far !. We were lucky enough to be invited here for a 21st last night 24/9/11. We enjoyed a three course meal. I've quickly gone down the reviews and besides the negative ones I have to 100% agree with all of them. Despite about 80 people being there eating at the same time nothing went wrong. I don't have words to describe the food and service. Someone has to tell those girls at Friends how good their service is. Truly great. And then of course the food. It was perfect. I will definitely be back as it has been the best meal we've had in Perth. This place is worth raving about !! Well done Friends.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!. By far the greatest restaurant I have ever been to in Perth. Amazing service and staff, amazing food, amazing view.<br/>I wish I could have eaten everything on the menu that's how impressed I was with the food, not to mention the in-between meals and pre dessert (you will get as excited as I did) <br/>The interior of the restaurant is not what I was expecting but defiantly added to the sophisticated feel of the place.<br/>I hope to take each and every family member and friend here as it was a real experience and i hope to return many a time.

It was simply wonderful! We had the truffle degustation andi it was one of the most memorable meal we have ever experienced. The service, the food, the ambiance, the attention to detail made this a dinner wellworth repeating. So we have already rebooked!

Died and gone to heaven. Headed out for a Last Supper before our baby arrives and could not have struck a better place. The food (degustation menu on Saturdays) was sensational. The service was impeccable and that fact that the restaurant was full but we could still talk softly to each other was most impressive. While the decor is a little dated, the food and service more than covered for it.

Wow!. A catchup review here as I've only recently discovered Urbanspoon. We went there for truffle degustation... speechless... definitely recommend the premium wine choice over the other option. The service was amazing and the atmosphere inviting, what a transcendent experience. It lasted five hours and was the greatest meal I have ever had... even as we tried the very first course of wild field mushroom soup with truffle, and the concentrated but restrained, finely sculpted flavours burst delightfully in my mouth and rolled across my tongue, only to be followed by a premium wine so perfectly matched that it was as if it had grown in the same field, I knew that this was to be a truly amazing gourmandising experience... did i know that it would be the best meal of my life, maybe I had suspicions, but I daren't even speak it aloud unless I jinx it and they change a single thing... thankyou chef, for the memories, and those still to come. :)

Best choice for the special occasion. We went for our anniversary and everything was perfect!<br/>First we were welcomed by the owner and served drink by the owner which dose not happen any other places.<br/>I had 'Manjimup Truffle Tasting Menu' with wine. All meals were excellent. Especially Jerusalem Artichoke and Truffle Soup was the best soup I ever came across!!<br/>staff were very nice and knowledgeable of wines. <br/>Excellent food and customer services especially by the owner will make you feel very special! We will defo come back again!!

If you're looking for the best of the best in every aspect and a truly luxurious experience, look no further.. My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere truly special to dine out for his 30th birthday this year. After scouring the internet for a suitable restaurant in Perth with a delectable looking food menu and wine list, we decided upon Friends, and we were certainly not dissapointed - overwhelmed would be a more accurate summary. <br/> <br/>Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a very friendly waitress who confirmed our booking. We were then given the option of heading straight to our table or having a drink at the bar first, so we headed to the bar. The bar had every imaginable drink stocked and the cocktail list looked very impressive, however being the English commoners we are we opted for a bottle of Stella each! Unexpected delicious hot canapes were placed in front of us, a sign of the unknown wonders and treats to come.<br/> <br/>When we were ready to be seated at our table the waitress guided us over. It hadn't occurred to me at the time of booking but it's a silver service restaurant. My key piece of advice to anyone as common as me who hasn't dined silver service style often before is don't be afraid to ask... the waitress will be more than happy to tell you which fork to use with which course (work your way in!) and help you find a suitable wine within your budget range from their extensive list. In fact, the waitress did an amazing job of suggesting suitable wines for us throughout the meal. We ordered a starter and a main each. Before the starters we were brought a small bowl of the most delicious soup I've ever eaten in my life, pumpkin and carrot - it doesn't sound like the most exciting combination but honestly it was so nice I could bath in it and eat it every day! I had the scallops for a starter - they were rediculously nice too, the best scallops I've had in my life in fact. Between the starter and the main we were brought a leek and potato dish which was also very nice. For the main, my boyfriend had the beef and I had the lamb - both of which were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. We asked the waitress to assist us in picking a glass of red each which would compliment our specific dishes, and the ones she selected worked tremendously well in each case. <br/> <br/>After the meal we skipped dessert and returned to the bar for a cocktail and a liquer coffee (both of which were superb and made to the highest standard). They brought us over a small selection of fine chocolates which were delicious. We got talking to the waitress and then the owners about how wonderful we thought the restaurant and the service were. We mentioned to Clyde the owner that we felt rather common to be dining somewhere so fancy, he was very open and understanding, and said that they like to think that their restaurant isn't exclusively for upper class people who know which fork is which, but also for every day people who are just looking for a very special experience. They overheard us mention that it was my boyfriend's birthday, so they brought us out another small selection of fine chocolates with "happy birthday" stencilled on the plate in cocoa and a fairy light in one of the chocolates, it was a beautiful and very heartwarming touch! <br/> <br/>Friends Restaurant was an unforgettable, truly magical experience for us. The owners and staff are lovely and very friendly and helpful, and the chef (who we later found out worked in a 2 michelin star restaurant in the UK for over a decade before he came to Friends) made us the finest food we've eaten in our lives. I can highly recommend Friends Restaurant and can't wait to go there again.

Extremely Good. Service was excellent, right from the greeting at the door. The food was perfection, just perfect for both of us. We had the degus meal. With drink driving it was really good to buy by the glass, with a terrific selection, including my old Adelaide favourite sparkling shiraz. An excellent evening, and well worth the expense.

A Special Evening. My partner and I recently celebrated our anniversary at Friends; our first visit to this restaurant. And what an enjoyable visit it was. To summarise the evening:<br/>Menu: A wonderful choice, where we were able to try dishes that we had not had before.<br/>Food: Each dish was beautifully presented, and so delicious. Certainly felt like we got very good value for our money!<br/>Service: Very friendly and courteous staff - which in Perth can sometimes be an exception rather than the rule.<br/>We both thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and are looking forward to our return visit, will probably book in for dinner/show night. <br/>Would definitely recommend this one!

WOW!. I was blown away with this place! The food is creative and delish! I went on a saturday night, and my partner and I had the degustation menu. For $95 we had canapes to start with (something which most fine dining resturants dont even offer), and then moved on the the soup, which was cider and white onion, with garlic chips, which was to die for. the next two corses we got to chose entrees. I had the scallops, which were mouth watering, followed by the chicken, which was beautifuly prepared and amazing to eat, while my partner had the oysters, which were fresh and amazing, and then the terrine, which had amazing flavours to it. <br/>For the main corse, I had the lamb cutlets, which were perfect, and my partner, had the Wagyu, which was only an additional $10! We both couldnt believe that Wagyu beef was only an additional $10, when in most places in costs an arm and a leg. The Wagyu was certainly worth the extra cost, it just melted in your mouth. We then had the Nazelnut Souffle, I could quite happily only ever eat the Hazelnut Souffle again for the rest of my life. <br/>For an extra $5 dollars each, we both had a coffee, which the person who made it knew what they were doing, as neither the coffe or the milk was burnt. The coffee aslo came with homemade chocolates. <br/>This was the perfect place for my partners and my anniversary. The wine which we were recommened complemented our food, and was a reasonable price. The waitstaff and owners were approachable, friendly, and would happily give advise and explain things on the menu. <br/>At the end of our night, I booked tickets to a show at Friends, and If it is anything like tonight, I have a lot to look forward to.

Yes to Gastronomy!. The menu is intelligent and convenient (i.e. you don't have to endure the 3-12 hours gastronomic experience some other establishments try to force down your throat). Instead it's a clever hybrid of the traditional courses + gastronomy experience.<br/><br/>For $90, you get a variety of choices per course and the food is truly deserving of the 2 Michelin stars of its cred. The dishes are cleverly put together and the taste is wonderful. The service is in a class of its own (can't beat international Hotels)<br/><br/>The wines are expensive but ordering by the glass is an option. <br/><br/>Wonderful experience & value for money.

Fine Dining at its best!!. Friends Restaurant is simply a dining experience!<br/>It serves a great board of fare. The steaks are excellent and their wine list is extensive and caters to all food. Te owners are hands on in the restaurant and really now how to run a fine dining establishment, attentive without being over-bearing. It's a restaurant to look forward to and then, afterwards, to reflect back on with a smile.

Had a lovely evening at friends watching mental as anything!! The band was awesome!! And the food was amazing!! The service was the best I've seen in Perth in a very long time!! Thank you so much I can't wait til I return!! Best night out

I love Friends. I have visited Friends on many occasions and it is my restaurant of choice in Perth. The food is always delicious and I have never been disappointed. The service is excellent with the staff being both friendly and knowledgeable. The ambience is warm and welcoming. Always a great night out.

A Cut Above. I travel to Australia frequently (from the US) and always dine at Friends. The menu reflects an air of distinction. The wine selection is exquisite, and the staff, from owners through to wait staff attend with detail to one's dining experience with class. Where many restaurants I have dined at appear to be focused on food alone, Friends, I have always found is devoted to the dining experience. I will be back again and again.

The furnishing at Friends Restaurant reminds me of an old granny's house, particularly the curtains and the chairs (although the chairs are very comfortable). Apart from that, the setting is great for a romantic dinner especially if you are able to get the window seats.

Although I would prefer to experience the summer heat over the winter chills any day there is one major highlight of the winter months: the truffle season. From the very beginning of the truffle season I start searching for events, dinners and menus that feature this delicacy and have been known to get a bit obsessed. We don’t often buy voucher meals as I rarely find them to be good value but I couldn’t resist when I spotted a Groupon for a five course truffle degustation for two for only $129 at Friends Restaurant at the Hyatt. When I called up to make a booking I found that there were very few options available for voucher holders as we couldn’t book on weekends or book when there was any theatre playing. Despite calling to make our booking shortly after purchasing the voucher, I was informed rather abruptly that there were only a couple of nights available. I enquired if my meal could be adapted to be gluten free and was told there would be no problem with this it would just mean I

My close FRIENDS and myself decided to try a degustation for the first time. We chose 'Friends' restaurant as the chefs scored 2 michigan awards in their pockets and at the price of $95, it seemed pretty reasonable for degustation in such a restaurant.

The six small but plump scallops were caramelised on the outside and, despite the rather scorched appearance of one or two, cooked to springy perfection. But what made my heart sing was the layer of tender Swiss brown, shitake and oyster mushrooms I had not expected to find served on top of the scallops and the risotto. The risotto was rich, well seasoned and creamy, one of the be
