If you're into Japanese food, this is the place to be. Nothing fills up a hungry belly than an authentic ramen! Nao gives you choice selection of noodles from the regular white to the more exotic black ink infused. Servings are generous and maybe enough for two. Wait time is less than 10 minutes and the staff are friendly too. Ambience wise its a bit low key with jazz music playing in the background. All in all I highly recommend this place whenever you fancy something Japanese. Will definitely come back. Itadakimasu!
I tried seafood miso ramen and takoyaki and it was sooooo tasty and unforgettable. the broth is really balance, and seafood is fresh, juicy plus nori and bone fish, so perfect and one thing amazed me they manufacture the ramen noodles by themselves in front of the customers. there are some type of ramen noodles and broth u can choose. they provide 2 size for ramen. regular and large. but regular size is already fully enough. the price is reasonable around 14$ for ramen and 9$ for takoyaki (6 pieces). the restaurant itself is small n not too eye catching but u can notice from the outside by the numbers of peoples who queuing to get their table. hahaha

Hands down THE best ramen place in Perth. The noodles have a nice bite to them, perfectly complimenting the delicious broth (just a touch salty for my tastes, although I have been told that is authentic). A double thumbs-up recommendation from me!

The ramen noodles are authentic and consistent. However, the lady boss can be rude, jumping into conclusion before attending to a service request. She accused us of finishing one of the entrees, then complain to her staff about the cold dish which is meant to be served warm. She did not apologise after clarification. Reluctant to go back after such an offensive encounter.
I came here with a work colleague for lunch. It was very busy, but we were able to secure a table fast. Service was prompt and friendly. Cool ambiance with funky music. Delicious fresh ramen and octopus balls! Yum!

Nao has egg now!! Very exciting. For a long time the only ramen in Perth was Nao but then a few and now a lot of ramen restaurants opened. From the old to the new store Nao didn't used to have egg but I am very happy to have a perfectly boiled egg in my ramen at Nao, although the egg is served cold. The servings at Nao are the perfect size and the simple menu allows for small changes which customises the dishes. The ramen remains to a high standard with balanced and delicious flavours and great ingredients. I like the spinach noodles !
Very friendly staff. Place is full as soon as the door opens. Loved the choices of spinach, chili, squid ink flavour noodle on top of the original ones.

Pretty decent ramen. The noodle is perfect; chewy without being too hard. The soup is thick and fragrant but lacking the umami flavour.
A word of warning that their large noodle is quite a big serving.
Simply wonderful Raman. I had the spicy miso with squid ink noodles and lapped up every last drop. Beautifully balanced broth with just the right amount of everything.
I have been here 5 times now, the shio salty pork broth is divine! Our favourite ramen in all of Perth and our top pick so far to date. The serving size is very generous, well worth it! The line out the front is always long so make sure you are there early!
Great authentic place for lunch. After watching Terrace house, my friend and I totally vibed japanese cuisine and this place is awesome. Great flavours and great ambience, we were satisfied!

PROS: Good value and fast/great service. The spinach noodles are surprisingly good, and for a vego I was very happy/well catered for. Big serves and the broth is really flavourful/tasty. Great lunch spot in the middle of a busy work day.
CONS: Word of warning for meat eaters, you only get one bit of chasu with your ramen typically.
Also importantly, they don't seem to do split billing.
Prompt service for mid week lunch. I must have just beat the rush. The new location has more room and is more organised, with the red carpet outside. Still authentic ramen.
Loving visiting this place every now any then for lunch, hay street premises has more tables and seats than their older hay street place, but wish the air conditioner could be turned up a notch or two on those warmer days.

arrived here in a Saturday afternoon, modern layout, friendly staff. Simple menu focused on Ramen with a selection of styles and additions. I ordered the spicy pork ramen which was well priced, sizeable and have good levels of flavour and freshness.
Highly recommend to order soy base with seafood as extra topping. Miso base taste better with extra pork ribs~ For me white, green and red noodles all similar in texture and taste. The green one didn't have strong spinach flavor so save that money and spent it on the extra toppings or the Japanese soda.
The prices were a bit high considering the quality of the food. It’s not bad, but for the same price, there’s better places around. $8 for 5 pieces of takoyaki? No thanks
Great ramen! Broth is flavourful and the toppings are good, but you have to pay extra if you want more. Overall, service is good and the waitresses are very friendly - they cater to your questions and the atmosphere is very welcoming. This place can get quite busy so it's best to arrive early if you want to avoid lining up in a long queue!
The Ramen here is really good but is better to add the toppings otherwise is just noodles soup with a tiny slide of pork , the chicken is not the best I've tried but is ok, the place was very full but the service is good and they even have me a little fan after dinner.
I went with my friends (5 of us all together) at around 4pm, so there was no line. The restaurant was basically empty with only another group of people dining. I got the miso ramen with white noodles. The broth tasted nice and they were good portions. The texture of the noodles was also good! A bit sad that only get one slice of pork. We also got the takoyaki which tasted nice and flavourful and large sizes compared to what I normally see. The staff were kind and efficient.
Very busy during peak lunch hour but the ramen is amazing and the portion is huge so it's still worth it. Always coming back here for a bowl and will still come back hehe
I like their miso ramen with added dried seaweed. The ramen with added seafood was also good. The gyoza didn’t disappoint. Good value for money!
I came in around 2pm since I heard it’s always packed with a long queue during lunch hours. At 2pm the place was only half full. The shio ramen with spinach noodles, extra steamed vegetables, corn and side of karagge - yum. I really liked the texture and taste of the noodles! The karagge was a bit too salty. And this place does not have high chairs for babies/ toddlers. Other than that, it was a great meal.

We got to Nao around 2pm on a Sunday, and there was a couple in the line before us, we thought there was going to be a wait but we were let through straight away. The first thing I realise is the great customer service we received, and the interior of the restaurant as well. I really liked the menu, because it allows you to customise your ramen which I enjoy! Me and my boyfriend both ordered the spicy ramen, where I ordered extra chasu and corn, and he ordered red chilli infused noodles. We also ordered gyoza and karaage chicken. The gyoza were delicious, and was not dry. The chicken was juicy and crispy which we both enjoyed a lot, they give you some lemon which is definitely tasted a lot better with it. The waitress dropped one piece of chicken, which wasn't an issue, however, she came back to bring as extra dish of chicken free of charge which I thought was very nice of her. My boyfriend enjoyed his ramen, and he said that he noodles tastes like tomatoes and capsicum. However, I thought the soup was not spicy at all, even adding extra spicy to it. This may be different to other people's tastebuds, but I like my ramen very spicy, but I did not receive that. I enjoyed the noodles as well because it was soft and wasn't stuck together. Nao Japanese restaurant has great staff and service, and the interior is modern, clean and nice, side dishes were excellent, however, if you love your spicy food maybe ask the chef to add extra chilli.

Delicious ramen!! I believe it’s the best ramen in Perth that I’ve been too! Each of the broths are very tasty and unique in flavour and being able to customise and add whatever you want into the ramen is the best thing. Also I find the different type of noodles don’t change much, mostly in nutrition and texture. Overall, as usual ramens not something you should eat everyday but Nao definitely delivers the ramen cravings I earn every once in a while! Also the new location is larger and has quite dim lighting but it adds to that modern aesthetic it’s going for
Hands down the best ramen I've had in Perth. Authentic and a good reminder of ramen I've had in Japan. Broth is flavourful and they do not overcomplicate it. Lines can be long so get there early if you can.
Until Ippudo arrives in Perth (if they ever do) this is the place to go for ramen.
I have to say, I'm very impressed with this place. Despite having to wait quite long for our table. Service was great and food was delicious. I recommend the fried squid and the takoyaki

I think their ramen is the best in perth! The broth is not too creamy/thick is just nice and tasty! Their 4 types of broth are all delicious and they serve different types of ramen too (plain/green/spicy/squid ink). Good place to eat during cold weather!

Great service, amazing food and well priced. Had the Takoyaki balls and Okonomiyaki-on-a-stick for entree. Both delicious! Then the large ramen for main. Very tasty....possibly the best ramen I have had in Perth. Dinner and drinks for 2 people was under $60....amazingly affordable. If only they were open later.....
I always get the spicy miso, the portions are quite big and the chasu is delicious, would be better with a half boiled egg though, overall best ramen in Perth!

Nao Japanese. Hand made authentic ramen noodles (4 types to choose from) in delicious broth (again various options) with accompaniments of choice. My favorite is the egg noodle in a shoyu broth with spicy cod roe. It's delicious and very filling. Don't forget slurping is expected.
Nao ramen has really great tasting, authentic ramen and their service is great - oishii~~ They definitely deserve more certificates of excellence!!
I must say we missed the old store whereby that little ramen ya feel of authentic Japan is so blend in with that bowl of hot noodles. The new store lack that ambience. The stock makes me a little thirstier than before too. The noodles are still springy that's great.
Great flavpurs in their ramen. I've tried the miso base and shoyu base. I do find that their menu is a little overwhelming although I do understand what they are trying to say. Menu aside, it was a great experience and delicious food. We also had to wait for about 20 minutes at the door which was ok after we had tried the food and received good service. We will be back!
We ordered miso and spicy miso ramen with gyoza. Great bouncy noodle texture! One of them we ordered with black ink, does very little, if not nothing, to the flavour but I prefer the original as the black one came out a little more soggy. Broth was pretty good as well, but not a mindblowing flavour explosion. Chashu was buttery and melted in my mouth, shame that you only get ONE slice. That said, it is a pretty good portion for the price. Service was fast and standard.
Amazing ramen, so delicious and full of flavour. The home made noodles were a great touch and the service was wonderful, which made the wait in line well worth it. Can't wait to go back to this gem.
This is my comfort food on a cold winters day. Love the new modern establishment. Great depth of flavour in the soup, good choice of ramen & tasted great(i also like the fact they got the ramen making machine out front so patrons can see how its made). I would have loved abit more spice in the spicy ramen broth personally. Service was quick even though there was a queue out the front.

My most recent visit to Nao I had Takoyaki and the spicy ramen with red chilli noodles and extra chashu (roast pork).
Both of which were delightful.
The service was excellent and the wait for the food was very short.

Excellent service, as the staff were very accomodating.
You can really taste how fresh the noodles are! Cooked to perfection and a rich broth flavour (I had the large miso chicken ramen). Had to get a doggy bag as couldn't finish it in one sitting! Would prefer the chicken to have been steamed and not deep fried but it tasted amazing!
I have knocked points off for;
1) the venue which would be nicer if a bit more roomy but it's still a great setting - dark and cosy.
2) There was a bit of a wait time (Friday lunch) but the orders were taken while we were in the queue - great thinking 😜

Love their ramens but their gyoza is a hit and miss. It is either burned, still cold inside or dry. Decided to give it another go last time but still disappointed
Great springy noodle texture with flavoursome broths! Have always had their Spicy Miso ramen until I tried the Kombu (seaweed) soup; very well-seasoned and full of flavour. Had this with spicy ramen (for a bit of a chilli kick), seafood and grated garlic- a great combination. Karaage chicken and dumplings here are not the best, but fair enough this place specialises in ramen and not fried chicken/dumplings.
Such yummy, generous, well priced food. They now have pork free options which I love. There's almost always a line when it opens but the new location is big and service is very fast and efficient. Turnaround time for a table is about 30 minutes

One of the best ramen joints in Perth that I keep coming back to. Definitely my pick for best miso ramen in the area. The spicy miso has a very different flavour from the regular miso ramen and is my favourite soup base at Nao by far. The soup isn't very spicy, but you can taste the chilli flavour, don't be afraid to try it if you are adverse to spicy food! If you're looking for some good tonkotsu ramen, this isn't your stop. For Tonkotsu your best bet is to head to Kizuki. The chashu at Nao Ramen is probably the best I have tasted in Perth. Nice flavour and soft texture. The noodles are made in house and have a good firm texture without being too chewy or soft. The size of the bowl is large and very filling, but don't be afraid to order extra noodles or a large size bowl if you are feeling hungry.
If you are feeling pecky and wish to have an entree, the takoyaki is some of the best takoyaki in Perth. It has real pieces of squid inside and a nice soft filling. The takoyaki is definitely a must try. Nao Ramen also boasts one of the larger takoyaki sizes in Perth.
The restaurant itself has a very nice and cosy atmosphere with its very dim lighting. Nao ramen also has a set of clean toilets for patrons to use. The staff are also very friendly and attentive.
When ordering at Nao, remember to ask for extra toppings. The ramen itself only comes with 1 slice of chashu(pork) so remember to ask for extra chashu when ordering.
Waited for 45 mins for a table. Almost give up waiting. Luckily the food was great! The ramen was cooked just right for my taste and reasonable priced. Another must try is the takoyaki☺️.
Hands down the best ramen in Perth. Love trying new ramen joints, though this is one I'll always come back to. The new black ramen noodles are also a good addition to the menu. The only downfall is that I think it slightly lacks condiments, could do with half an egg or more pork as a standard.

Nao ramen has moved to one of the Arcades close to where it used to be. Loved the new place. It is more of a restaurant now rather than being as a street food kind of feel. Had the shio ramen and was not disappointed. But I just ordered the plain one. So it was the most basic ramen. I was expecting that it would have egg and more chasu. You can always add the items that you like for an additional cost. Service was great. Staff was friendly and approachable.
Delightful place. Nice, springy, well-cooked noodles. Recommend the spicy or miso broth with nikumiso or butter corn extras. Pork rib extra came cold, tender but not ideal. Vegetarian ramen isn't bad too (they replace the chashu with more veg).
I came both times before and after it moved. Gotta admit, the old place had a better and more authentic Japanese vibe to it whereas the new one just didn't have that authentic, homey Jap ambience.
Food wise the ramen is still kept to its standards. I love the portion sizes it's massive (as you can see), for us Asians at least. Me and my friend shared a bowl of the spicy ramen and oh was the broth to-die-for. Can't beat the takoyaki here as well! Super good and fried to crispy perfection yes🙌🏼 Reasonable price as well but this place always gets super packed so be sure to come early!

Update: went back to the new Nao. Shio ramen was super flavourful. Let's be honest, ramen joints have been popping up everywhere recently, but they're all kind of... shit. Nao's broth is the real deal - there's a layered sweetness to the broth. It's salty, sweet, and unlike some of the new places, has a deep, rich lasting flavour that doesn't just disappear. It lingers and slowly dissipates, leaving you satisfied, satiated and happy. I did find the noodles that came standard were a bit softer than when I had it last, will ask for more firm noodles next time.
Basically it's good ramen - been a few times, usually have to queue. Not going to say what its like compared to Japan, that's just STUPID. The soy sauce, water, pigs, seasonings, produce and all the ingredients that make a bowl are different. The food is good, love the noodles. It's good eats, these guys obviously have experience and they are doing something right. A little cramped but that contributes to the ramen store atmosphere.
The dumplings, friend chicken and chilli chicken miso ramen with squid ink noodles were all OUTSTANDING. The noodles were made fresh in house and the flavours were so delicious. I'll be back, for sure.
have not visited nao since they moved into their new place so decided to give it a go today. found the new place really spacious and cozy. i had the shio ramen with extra garlic, it was really good but i thought the noodles could've been firmer as i do enjoy firm/harder noodles. will probably mention that in my next visit. 😎 aside from that all was good, we waited barely 5 minutes before our ramen was served. 👌

The noodles are springy and bouncy holding the wondrous broth when slurping them (as you should) all you can do is smile and say Oishi!

First time trying ramen. Got there mid afternoon on a Sunday and there was a line out the door. Didn't have to wait long to be seated. Wait staff were very patient and understanding of you trying to order. Well priced, large portions, delicious food and such a cute atmosphere. Would go back and take friends.
Still a very hot day in Perth and for some reason, a few friends and I decided to eat ramen for lunch.
I had the regular Shoyu ramen with white noodles and it was great! The soup was just the right amount of salty and I loved the texture of the noodles. When the food came, I was shocked at the size of the bowl. But it turns out fine because the actual portion is not that big, enough for one person (I'm not sure if this is a good thing). If you have a bigger appetite, a large portion is available too!
My friend ordered the Spicy ramen and she said it's not spicy enough, though. I'm not sure if it is really not spicy, or because she enjoys spicy food. I personally can't take too spicy food.
Overall, I'd say Nao is a great ramen place! A bit on the pricey side, but still fine given the flavour of the food itself. Service was also fast and good!

This has always been one of my favourite places to get ramen ever since I was in uni (which was a long time ago). Their portions are incredibly generous but most importantly the flavours and textures are really spot on. I have thoroughly enjoyed every bowl of ramen that Ive had here, and even the side dishes are a hit as well! The dipping noodles I have yet to try but I’m going to guess that they’re also great. Parking is quite easy to find around the area and they have an overflow section now so there’s really no reason not to try this place! In a city with ramen stores popping up everywhere this still remains one of my favourites.
I came to this restaurant by chance. I ordered shio ramen and miso ramen to try. In the meantime, the waiting for ramen with gyoza, which was delicious, was very pleasing to me. The gyoza was a bit hot and smelled of mild spices. I'm not sure if it's the pepper mix or not. The ramen portion is quite tasty. I wish the ramen was a bit more intense because I like the rich flavor. Overall I really like it.
NAO's expanded to the shop lot across from it. Still order like you do (at the current shop), but you might be seated across the arcade, which is quieter and roomier. Great for the weekday lunch rush periods.

Server at the counter was friendly and polite. Ramen is definitely decent, noodles were chewy the way I liked it, and the karaage was the breakout star, well marinated, battered just lightly and not greasy. Lost a star for the greasiness of the broth, and a tad too salty for me. But excellent meal worth a try when in the area.
