Review Bambamboo - Perth

great for a yummy and quick feed. you can order at your table. not there hugest range of vegetarian options but you will find something. the shallot noodles and steamed buns are good. staff are great too.

I am blown away by the food! Ordered via ubereats and the food came all fresh and hot! Tasty plus was on discount Kudos to the chef and thank you for the sticker! Will definitely order again
Anthony Matteo
Kinda overhyped if I’m honest. Was thoroughly disappointed with the price u paid vs what you got. Although the chicken and rice was super tasty, the duck and noodle dish was practically just bone with minimal duck. Disappointed in the dumplings. I’d pass for alternatives in the vicinity.
Arianne McKenna
Really nice Chinese food. Decent prices, good serving sizes and very quick service. I like that you can order on the tablets available and then go up to the counter. Definitely more designed for sharing platters. I got the vegetarian dumplings and loved them!
Tabitha Ong
Limited vegetarian dishes. But better than a lot of dim sum places that have only desserts for vego. Still a pretty good feed. Staffs are friendly too.

Great selection, good atmosphere. If you are in the city and you haven't been here, then I highly recommend you give them a try. Filtered water, not tap water available at your pleasure, but why would you when they cheap and available beverages to suit your desire. We had several dishes and a delightful green tea for myself and it was all as expected, with the right accompanied sauces and all you need for a reliable dining experience.

This restaurant doesn't have a large variety of dim sum, but, the food quality is good, e.g crispy duck rolls, pork dumplings, xiao long bao and sticky rice 👍
Bombay Buzz
Good dumpling place. Rice and bbq pork was okay.
Kristie Atkins
Love the iPad ordering concept! Food came out all at once, fresh, hot! Love that you can just grab your own condiments and refill your pot of tea. Will definitely be back!
Karen Greenwood
Great food, delivered fast by friendly staff in the height of the busy lunch time service. A few selections were a tad too salty for our palate though. Highly recommend and will visit again.
Linda Gibbs
Had early lunch on Tuesday before lunch time rush. As per usual the food was delicious. Had various dishes and shared with my partner. It was his first experience at Bambamboo and he can't wait to come again. Highly recommend for a mouthwatering experience👍

I don’t know how they do it - lots of customers and our food arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. The wait staff were rushed off their feet but obviously love their job because they were really polite and extremely helpful - not to mention cheerful with it. The jasmine tea was a thing of beauty, and the hot water station meant that we could top it up to our hearts’ content. It’s been a long time since we ate there, but it won’t be long before we go back. Well done!
Noddy Calderbank
Very well organised. Place was quite busy but still easy to order. Food prepared fresh but was delivered in a timely manner. From ordering to finishing meal was just over 1/2hr. Even when busy. Food is still amazeballs. 11/10 will go again.
AnKristine RLipnik
I love the roasted Duck, cooked perfectly...though it takes a while to have it ready but its worth the wait.Would love to visit there again.

Great staff, great food, fast service Rate it !

Friendly staff, love the BBQ fried rice, steamed pork buns and noodles. Excellent quality and quick service.

Prawn wontons are the best here best vale for money
Dianne Rostron
I must say the best. 😊👍good food fast service.
Karen Forbes Watson
Very impressed have never known a place to have your order served as quickly as here. Food tasted great, definitely will be back
Joy Anderson
Yummy food and exceptional customer service by the young Asian guy who was working on 21/11. Will be back again.
Caroline Marshall
Beautiful lunch on Saturday- we selected a number of dishes to share, they were all mouth-wateringly good!! It was busy but we loved the fast and professional friendly service!! Thank you for making our hard day out shopping in the city end in such a tasty and wonderful way!!
Cassandra Clark
Great food fast efficient service but i didnt like the ipad ordering system was hard to find everything we were looking for
Kyle J Andrich
I would live off this if I could, I've never been disappointed here, favourite food in Perth!!
Laxmi Rana
Had the chilli tofu and the chilli crabs, the batter was extremely salty. Couldn't finish the food, rather disappointing.

Nice food and well prepped. Good portions. Yum. Will be returning .

No service, not cleaning ipads, asked me to order on the ipad after 5 ppl before me used, rude staff as well would not go again
Good place for a quick bite to eat in the city. Food is simple, tasty and affordable.

We used to come here quite regularly until we stumbled upon one in Northbridge which is amazing & we always go there but as we were in the city tonight we decided to go to BamBamBoo, which was a bad idea.
The squid was burnt/ over cooked, so I told the girl and she happily gave us another plate of them which wasn’t much better. The dumplings were not nice either. This place is over priced for what you get. Definitely won’t be going back. Will stick to Northbridge.
You really need to pick up your game BamBamBoo...

Were after a yumcha style dim sum meal and got quite the opposite. Not the lazy, mouthwatering picking through whatever rolls past your table on tea trolleys, but you have to figure out how to enter your order into some computers attached to tables in the far corner of the restaurant. Then everything arrives at once, ...well... you have to pick it up yourself when the buzzer goes off. You have to organise your own crockery, too. You watch staff drying crockery in the seating area. There is a continuous background hum of some machine, you can hear the kitchen noise, and we got eaten by mosquitoes that had no business to be there, as the place is quite a way inside the building. We started just after 7pm, which was a mistake on our behalf, because the place closes at 8h, and people started cleaning around us when we were still finishing. So, not a cozy, comfortable, relaxed, ongoing meal in a group with food that keeps coming, but first a puzzled order, then a big bang food arrival, hurried eating, and a quick leave. In a cold, artificial setting. Not what we were after. The food was OK, had better. Staff were friendly and nice. The prices seemed high for that we had to input our own order etc. Tried it and decided not to go back.

The place is attractive with iPad ordering system, but foods are very average in term of taste and variety.
There are many better chinese foods in the next neighbourhood Northbridge
Evelyn Tan
Only great thing about this place was the service. I would rather walk to northbridge for some proper XLB and dimsum food.
Michael Stevens
The food at Bam Bam boo is phenomenal and there’s a great deal of variety. Within having ordered our meal off the tablet, the meal was ready within 8 minutes. Props to very efficient service, however the service was a tad cold, very little interaction from the gentleman who served at the counter. Nothing to write home about but nothing to break the experience either. Would definitely recommend Bam Bam Boo just based on food quality and fast service
Saurav Jha
This place has been consistently awesome over the years and no doubt it remains hugely popular. The pricing is good and the portions reasonable. I have been her 10+ times and have always returned more than satisfied with their range of offering (dumplings, noodles etc.).

Highly recommend to anyone who's after value for their money for some very very tasty food! Pretty sure you'll fall in love with their dumplings and go back again. The ordering system on the ipad can take a while to browse through for first time visitors (especially when this place gets crowded during lunch hours) but repeat visitor find it a breeze :)

A true fan!
Eptu
Tried a variety of the dim sum on offer. Not something I found to be that good. A little expenno and can get better food at other places. Self service restaurant.
Steve Doherty
Superb dumplings and pork buns. Ordering via iPad is cool, service was great and there are several beers available. What's not to like? I've been here several times, with both colleagues and personal friends - it's a great place for an informal catch up.
Brendan Roche
#bambamboo Refused service because of my disability. Having Cerebral palsy is not the same as being drunk. It's a life long condition that I have to live with.
Charlotte Rose Nicholson
Amazing food, ordering on the iPads was great and the food was out within 20 minutes which was so good! The soup dumplings were also great would recommend.
JuYeethejoey
Order your food through ipad, pay at the counter and they will text you when food is ready, collect food and condiments at the collection counter and enjoy your meal. I ordered the xiao long bau and har gau, they were pretty good.
Comida
Food is quick and tastes fresh- you can really taste how fresh the tofu is in particular. The dessert dumplings were definitely a desired taste (I did not enjoy). The pumpkin tarts were stuffed with peanut butter?. I have returned many times for the rice and tofu as its a quick, decent and relatively cheap meal.
Bree Gray
This place is awesome! We went for lunch for the first time the other day and absolutely loved it! You order your food on an iPad, which has photos and descriptions so you really know what you’re getting. You then go pay at the counter. Within about 10 minutes our table was full of the most delicious feast. They even do free refills on your tea, where most places charge just for adding hot water. This is definitely the best Yum Cha I’ve had and I’ll be going back as soon as I can!
Bee
Love this place! Really cool and hip with easy and quick service during lunch time. The squid legs are absolutely delicious, the best that I've had. It's tucked away in a lil arcade but once you find it, its super easy.
Jazmin Licup
Been to this place twice. Never fail to impress me. I love the steam buns, the roast duck and the chicken. The place is really nice and hidden. The staff are friendly and provided good service.
Onebiteatatime
Food did not suit me. The tofu was okay though, but quite average. Most probably would not return in the near future. The location and the place was nice though.
Marie Caramia
If you're searching for gluten free dumplings this is the spot! I have been allergic to gluten for 10 years and have been on such a hunt for them, I was so happy I nearly cried. They taste absolutely amazing! Thankyou so much bambamboo I will be back ☺️☺️☺️
Sarah Morgan
Best dumplings in Perth by far! We always get the Shanghai dumplings, lamb dumplings, bbq pork buns and the amazing shallot rice $23 for tasty fresh food! Always recommend to friends.

It’s been awhile since I have had time to write some food blogs. But I’m back!! Before Christmas, my lovely workplace were kind enough to treat us to some Ubereats. We got to choose from burgers, asian and pizza. I decided to choose Bambamboo because it’s been a place I’ve wanted to try for awhile. I ordered the Jian Jiao noodles which came with 4 plump dumplings and some dried noodles. The dumplings themselves were nice – juicy on the inside and pan fried on the outside. What let the dish down for me was the dried noodles – they were quite plain even though they were seasoned with sweet soy sauce and had fried shallots and coriander. I thought a bit of chilli or even sesame oil would added some more flavour to the dish. Overall it was a decent meal.

I love this place for so many reasons!
The ordering is on iPads & is so clear & easy to use. Ingredients are shown which is great for those of us with food allergies.
The team are friendly (you put your name in when you order, and they greet you by name when you go to pay).
You get a text when the order is ready & the food is delicious.
Great all round 5/5

Traditional Dim Sum lovers will call this place not authentic but overall i like this place. From the easy to use ipad ordering system, you know you wont get greeted by a snappy asian staffmember. The food is reasonably priced, fast and efficient, the ambience is contemporary and the food is tasty. Reminds me of Hong Kong for some reason which is not a bad thing..
Wilsen Lie
Ordering system is cool and it didn't take long time for the food to be ready. The food was okay. And they also have condiment station, which is good.
Authenticity
HK’s 大家樂 style yum cha with innovative iPad ordering system. As for the taste, it was better than ‘Dim Sum’ meatloaves in local suburban BBQ chicken shops, but no where near artisans craftsmanship in the food to worthy call them real dim sum.
Angela Kent
Been coming here since it opened not anymore. Ripping off customers by now adding bits of corn to the prawn wantons and not mentioning it on the menu. Dirty tactics will not eat here ever again
Samuel England
Good food not great, flavours on the weaker side. Interesting ordering system on the iPad, not sure how efficient it is as you have to go to another counter to pay anyway. Great decor and atmosphere.
Sandhya1814
Well, there is a large variety of dim sum catered to people with different dietary requires like me. Being unable to consume beef and pork, this place has more options compared to other stores. I tried the soft shell bao and 2 different dim sums. I am rating it a 3 as its nothing special in terms of food and service standards, jus a regular place. In my opinion, the concept of the store is similar to thats of KFC or Hunger Jacks, only difference would be the type of food you are getting.
DforDee
😩 I didn't like it at all. 1.5/5 is me being "nice". I didn't enjoy my meal. Next time I'd make a walk over to northbridge instead for good Dimsum/ Chinese food. This place is NOT suitable for Asian consumption.
Sarah
Great food! Noodles aren't as good as they use to be but still one of our favourite places. Roast duck & dumplings are great. Good prices and quick service
Jillchau
For the price you pay, compared to other places in and around the city this place is a joke. The really kind server/floorstaff and the location of the place are the only redeeming qualities that I can seemingly find. Really disappointed, don't get the soft shell crab. For the price you pay and the serving size you are better off going somewhere else. Unless the appearance of fried crab legs is appealing to you. The fried prawn dumplings came out warm with a odd sweet and sour sauce that did not compliment the dish at all and looked like it was slapped on the plate for the sake of having a sauce. The wonton soup with dumplings, bland and very lacking. The beef baos, beef was terrible and chewy the bun was stale and tasted like it had sat there for a week and only just warmed up. The steamed prawn dumplings came out cold, and again for the price you pay - shocking. These are only a few to list. The authenticity of the place screams food chain and is embarrassing to the cuisine.
Foodie
Great place!! I love how you can order on iPads really helps out and prevents there to be long waits in regards to lining up. Had the dumplings, chicken feet and wonton soup here. The whole restaurant has a collective feel to it with shared seating. Overall great place with reasonable prices.
@Foodieguide_lily
I was expecting a bit more as a few people said it was great. The atmosphere is nice but my food was lacking balance - I ordered a noodle soup with dumplings which were cooked nicely but the flavours just didn't impress. A bit too salty but a bit of sour which helped. The whole ordering thing of turning customers away to force you to navigate a tiny screen which is not user friendly and not having a memu available was not at all a welcoming experience - and you have to wonder that as you have to pay at the counter anyway is it even efficient given everyone seemed to have the same confusion as me. No one told us how we would know our food was ready. But after we ordered we saw many who arrived after us getting their food 20-30 minutes later and I went up to check as still no promised text, although when I went up our food was waiting and simply sitting out getting cold. When I asked about this the guy kept insisting we had been texted twice when I knew full well I had no text up to one minure prior when I went up. So they just let my food go cold and soggy. When I sat down I saw a text had arrived after I went to the counter and was even less impressed. I'm also not a big fan of all the plastic and disposable things being used. Prices are ok but you can get so much better nearby for this price. So I wouldn't return but the atmosphere is nice at a pinch.
Katie Donnelly
Very convenient, fast service. Delicious food. A little on the salty side. Great atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed, have been heee twice and will return again. Great value for money.Would be great to be able to pay for food using card also using the iPad system.

If you aren't sure what to have and just want to find a quick filling quality meal then bambamboo is the place!

Easy ordering system has you guide your way by using an iPad located at the front entrance and the side.

It's a funky little restaurant tucked away in the food hub of Perth bringing a fresh cool new vibe to Perth. There are communal tables and benches for the solo diners. The restaurant exposes a lot of cool art from the ceiling to the walls.

Only downfall I could say at this particular visit (I've dined many times before) the pork ribs were over sauced but still delicious.

Pork buns are always amazing. It's as if you're biting into a cloud of deliciousness.

Soft shell crab seemed to be a new addition but a yummy one.

Usually not a fan of anything with minced chicken, I was delighted with the chicken dim sim.

Serving sizes are always large for a single person, so great to share with a friend.

I had my first visit to Bambamboo on Saturday and definitely have to say if you're ever looking for something different try this place!
The ordering system is super cool and at your own pace on iPads so there's so rushing and you can take your time picking out of their massive menu. The menu items were super cheap which was our favourite part about the place. There was so much variety especially for vegetarians (try the chilli tofu!). The service was lovely and friendly. We found the best spot to sit was around the corner and at the back which was nice and quiet for a Saturday night. Highly recommend Bambamboo!
Kayla Maree
Amazing! While staying in the city we decided to take advantage of the short walk to BamBamBoo as the extensive menu was extremely alluring. Ordering on the ipad was a fun experience (with options to pay by cash at the til or card) and for two people and a drink each was only $50(and we ordered hungry), we ordered Prawn wontons which were easily the best i've ever had, small noodles, small fried rice, BBQ Pork, Porkbelly bao and Mince patty Bao. Nothing was too much trouble, everything was fast and perfectly cooked! 10/10 will come back and tell everyone!!!
Gabrielle Trenbath
I’ve found Yum Cha always a little too noisy and hectic, in the true. sense of the word. I always had this irrational fear about being run. down by a person with a trolley! But not at BamBamBoo. It was like an Asian fast food version of your local Chinese but better. Much better!
Joanneyl
I've definitely had better dim sums than this. The asian in me tells me that this is not authentic enough. Service was quick. Not the typical dim sum place in terms of ordering and how the food is served. Dumplings had thick skin, some dishes are too oily for me.
Olivia Dashwood
Inconsistent quality, stingy with the "expensive" components of meals like meat and dumplings, and avoid the kong pow chicken, it's the worst thing I've ever eaten. If you want Chinese or dim sum go to a proposer dim sum restaurant.
Vee Kee
The food is fine and the staff are friendly and helpful. The ordering system is needlessly complicated and it is evident with the slow processing of customer orders during peak hours. The iPad ordering software is glitchy and that didn't help with efficiency.
Claudette Rizzi
Today was my first visit. The food was fantastic, wheat noodles with chicken and mushroom in a gentle flavoured sauce and steamed chicken dumplings that were to die for. The ordering system didn't text me when my order was ready so maybe needs some work but I didn't have to wait long until a staff member told me I could collect my meal. I enjoyed the lunch thoroughly but maybe the ordering system needs work.

Visited this place on 27th March for lunch.
Ordered chilli prawn wontons, oolong tea, wheat noodles, veg dumplings and soft shellfish steamed bao. All food items and condiments were served fresh and piping hot. Food was delicious, service was quick and good.
Hardest part was ordering the items from the ipad menu which looks cool at first but an unnecessary investment as in the end have to pay at the counter to the guy behind the till!
4 stars for the good food but 1 star lost for the cumbersome ordering process and lack of dedicated seating... had to share table.
Bec Gavrilovic
Amazing food and fantastic atmosphere! We ordered 5 dishes and every dish was flavourful and delicious plus great prices! Will be back for sure.
Andrewrd1970
if bambamboo is the future of food, im on board, at the front, windows down, full speed. just so good. flavour, cooking, service and a great interior, make this the best noodles ive eaten since Footscray.

its been about 3 months since i ate here, and the excellence in execution remains superb. the balance of flavours has been thought about, tested and perfected. you'd think the kitchen would struggle with the new menu item's, but not so.

eat here
Krishnaa Thadeshwar
Visited this place with a friend , let me tell you the food was amazing.
It's vegetarian friendly as well , ordered their pan fried dumplings, sweet buns, steamed dumplings ; all of them was very tasty and amazing will definitely visit this place again
Thumbs up for this
Jackie
Come here often as you can always get a table when it opens unlike its northbridge counterparts. I always get a mixture of steamed and pan fried seafood and meat dumplings and they are consistently good. I find the iPad ordering system easy to use and it's a good choice for a quick takeaway mid week lunch.
MtLovely
I have visited Bambamboo several times now and enjoyed each time. Great dumplings. Last visit I selected the BBQ duck which was delicious, however the fried rice was pretty bland - had to throw two mini containers of chilli sauce in to get it across the line... the ha gao (my fave dumpling ever!!) was tasty but the pastry broke up when trying to pick it up to chilli dunk and gob... I will still be back because I love the no fuss way of ordering and of course the dumplings!
PacMan
Wham, bam, thank you ma'am.

When your kids recommend a cafe based on the fact you get to order on an iPad it is not necessarily a solid precursor to fine dining, however Bambamboo meets exactly the expectations that such an image conjures up.

Quick, easy, quite tasty, a little too expensive to be called 'cheap and cheerful' but not far off.

And so.....after co-ordinating the family lunch order on a single iPad screen (a little bit trickier than it sounds) the novelties continued with the giant, inflatable 'doughnut' table which more than comfortably sat the four of us and left plenty of room for bouncing.

And, contrary to the dire prognostications of dad and the best efforts of the bouncing six year old, the green tea remain intact!

The assortment of dumplings, BBQ pork, pork buns and a couple of serves of rice (to keep the younglings content) all arrived in reasonably quick time (another must of the family feast), which meant a more peaceful experience for the more mature diners!

By way of stand out, the pork buns were really pretty good, being light and fluffy (always a risk of too dense dough) and the prawn dumplings were flavoursome and well cooked.

The pork dumplings were reasonable, though a little flavour free and the BBQ pork was quite oily.

The abundance of condiments made up somewhat for flavour devoid dumplings though the chilli oil was a little ignominious and without punch.

But all in all, for under $50 a family of four was well fed and watered with enough room in the tummy for dessert hunting in the city markets.

Don't go for fine dining, but for family feeding with a bit of fun at not a bad price, it is not a bad little find.

Would do again with the mini-mes, but maybe not with the more discerning of dim sum diners.
Ss
Very poor noodle dish consisting of overcooked wheat noodles and flavourless mushroom/chicken bits. Ordered this as a take away and had to throw out this bowl of overcooked textureless noodles. Wont be returning.
Andrew Loa
I'm from Sydney and this is very good for price, quantity serving, food taste and facilites.

This is great BC you can order as much or little food as possible and it does fill you up. The iPad ordering system is very intuitive.

I had the fried rice and pan fried chicken dumplings.

Fried Rice was a little dry and dumplings was a bit pastey with the filling.

Given a traveler from Sydney and Perth was a ~40 degree day, I was able to fill my stomach, enjoy the ambience (the tyre seating is fun and good for back posture), unlimited refill, chilled water, (filled water bottle), clean toilets and enjoyed the air conditioning.

I only wish I could of tried the tea but it did not describe the differences in teas.
Really the only thing needed is free wi fi.

I would recommend and very innovative.

Shark82
I was a little disappointed as I'd read some great reviews of Bambamboo. It's ok-good but not great. The noodle soup portions are generous but like some other reviewers, I think the meat portions in the port soups are pretty small. In contrast, the prawn wonton and Jian Jiao noodle dishes have at least 4 BIG dumplings in them, well filled, so a really generous and filling portion. Noodle dishes and soups are reasonably priced but both times we came, we waited at least 10 mins after the other food arrived for our final meal to come. This is pretty poor and annoying when eating as a group.
Mena
Very disappointed. The process for ordering has you lining up three times, and using an iPad menu that really isn't laid out in an obvious way. Then our meals came out in bits and pieces over the course of 45 minutes. I ate my entire side dish then had to wait 20 mins before getting the dumplings, then another 15 before getting the pork buns. The veggies were covered in oil. I won't go back
Bree
The food was good and well-priced. But the store was lacking in cleanliness. The tables were dirty and the cutlery/plates still had pieces of food stuck to the bottom (poor dish washing). I liked how they had self-service iPads to order food.
Kim Law
Wanted to try Ribs & Burgers but was too busy so we went around the corner to Bambamboo for a quick lunch. Ordering was self serviced and simple. We were notified by SMS when our orders were ready to be picked up. Tried pork belly noodle soup, fried Rice and couple of other dim sum. Serving size of the noodle was pretty decent and soup stock was really nice. Xiaolongbao skin was a bit dry and thick but filling was good. Fried Rice was so so bit Jin liked it. Overall, I really like this little eating joint, great value and rather relaxed environment.
J Smith
Not bad at all. I don't mind the order on the iPad system, it's quicker. Pork buns, prawn dumplings and siomai tasted fresh. Pork belly baos were nice. The sweet chicken buns were an interesting mix of savoury and sweet. Yes it's a tad pricier than northbridge dim sum with less choices. It was easy to order, no lines and comfy tables so not a bad trade especially if you're in that area.
Ben Law
If you want Dim Sum quickly and don't have time to walk to Northbridge, BBB is an acceptable alternative.

Quick service, easy to find tables but unfortunately slightly expensive dim sum for the quality you get.

Personally I'd make the time to go across to Northbridge but if you're in a hurry, check them out.
Omnomnomnivore
Okay, so I was a bit sceptical at first, but they've won me over. As a bit of a dim sum purist (raised solidly on the 'good stuff' in Singapore and Hong Kong). Though it's missing the usual accompaniment of sliced ginger, the xiao long bao are actually pretty darn good. Sure, they're a bit thick skinned and certainly not as expertly folded as they should be, but I wouldn't have expected that from them tbh. The flavour of the soup and filling was good - and when I first tried them I nearly sang in joy for not being presented with the kind of gelatinous mess some other Perth places offering XLB have done. One of my other top picks for this place are the fried mantou with Singapore chilli sauce .. They are -so- moreish. Generally the dumplings and noodle dishes that I've had have been great, though their roast duck portions can be a bit miserly, and I don't really rate their cha siu bao (too sweet).

The bambamboo club deals have always been great, and service has been super friendly and super quick every time I've been. Overall, bambamboo exceeded my (admittedly, low) initial expectations and is a really solid city eatery for fast, delicious food. Big thumbs up!

My go to for quick lunches.

Atmosphere 6/10: It's a decent place to sit down and eat - I usually go outside because the inside can be a bit noisy. There are plenty of seats and if you're bringing a big group you won't have to worry about finding enough space. Nice decor and colouring, and spacious.

Service 7/5.10: At Bambamboo, you order on an iPad then pay at the counter which I find really efficient and easy to do. They send a text to your phone and/or have a board with your order number on it, and you go pick it up. For how busy this place is, it's a good system. I've always found the staff friendly and helpful. I've never had to wait more than ten minutes for my food, so if you need something to eat quickly, this is the place for you.

Food 6/10: The food's not bad. Sometimes the steam pork buns come out a little soggy on the sides, but I eat it anyway and enjoy it. There's a pretty big selection of food and drinks with some vegetarian options. If you like custard buns, try theirs! I'm a big fan of them.

Price 6.5/10: Reasonable, but the price has been going up and up lately. It used to be much more affordable so I'm a bit sad they've raised the prices so much.

Some good choices here but the ordering system could be more simplified. I'm not a fan of touching smeared ipads which could do with the occasional wipe.
This place offers freshness and value.
Shioh
I went there with my husband and ordered xiao long bao, panfried pork dumpling and pho beef noodle. Xiao long bao was too thick skin....but testy. Pork dumpling was average or under average of taste. I was expected coz article told that it is the best 10 of dumpling in Perth. However it wasn't. Also pho beef noodle was terrible and not reasonable. I've never returned here again....
T
The steamed pork buns were beautiful. We enjoyed the dumplings too- they were nice and crisp- but I thought that they definitely should have been hotter. It's a great location and I love the ceiling outside!
Asian's Taste
This place is located in the heart of CBD.
We tried their pork dumpling: love the way the Cooked it taste wise is not bad.
We also tried their
Bbq pork noodle soup and sweet sour noodle soup
Between those two noodle; I prefer Bbq pork noodle..😍
Vegetarian
I do love this place - on the face of it a little kitsch - but at its heart delicious food, good variety and cheery service. It's a vego's Sunday Yum Cha paradise, with no sneaky bits of prawn tucked into the meal. I had noodles, pan fried dumplings, greens and pot of jasmine tea for under $20. Good value and a magic remedy for a Sunday hangover!

I have a love hate relationship with Bambamboo. Let me start with the negative so I can end with a positive note. First, I think their ordering system is not good because you wait to order using iPad, and then you wait to queue to pay on the cashier, and then you wait again for your number to be called up for you to walk up again to collect your food. This can be an absolute mess during busy lunch hour. Second, I think the portion is too small for the price you pay. At $14 you get literaly 3-4 thin slices of pork belly with 2 dumplings and some vege on small fried rice.

However, on the positive side, I come back again to Bambamboo because first of all its strategic location in the heart of CBD and literally 2 minutes walk from my office with plenty of sitting. But more importantly because their food is actually really decent. Albeit the portion and size, their pork belly is soft and tasty. Their fried mantau is amazing especialy with their chilli crab sauce! Free sauces includinh garlic, chilli oil, and herbs on the counter for you to take and to add more flavour into your dishes.

We took a chance on this place not being locals and found the food to be delicious and very reasonably priced. Also the staff, particularly Zia & the young Balinese chap were very helpful & friendly. Highly recommended!

We absolutely loved this place!
Spent $80 (which is a huge amount) and got SO much food for it. We loved everything ordered and can't wait to go back. 5+ rating without a doubt. 👌🏼

Interesting concept for a quick lunch. Ordering on a tablet and pick up the food minutes later. I tried an assortment of dim sum dumplings and everything was really nice. Cool decor, would definitely return if I was in the CBD again.

The food was awesome. Staff were really friendly. Order on ipad, pay and then moments later we got the sms to collect the food. Was really great experience.

I think this place is hella cheap! good quality dumplings whenever i've been. i like the ordering system. They really gun the food out, which is great as they are usually busy.

Unsure why people said the price was high as you get SO MUCH!. The shui jiao. you get like 8 instead of the normal 3-4 from normal Dim Sim place.. and they are HUGE!
Coriander and Prawn dumpling, the skin was thin and fresh..
Been there twice now.. good value for money, you don't end up ordering a lot but what you order is very filling.

Good atmosphere, and the ordering system is good too (look forward to just using paypass at the ordering ipad). The food is fresh and comes quickly. I love the squid tentacles and the Singapore fish. Dumplings are nice too, but overall everything is a little overpriced. It is dimsum after all. Lower the price and ill be back.

I'm a huge dumpling fan so wanted to try this place out. Came here for dinner and ordered an array of dumplings. I was pleasantly surprised at how delectable everything was for the price. Between the 3 of us, we only spent $50 and had a hearty meal. Customer service was fantastic. Definitely recommend this place if you love cheap and delicious food.

Oh my, oh my. Bambamboo has nailed the criteria when it comes to a good spicy dumpling noodle bowl. The broth was not too spicy that it over killed the flavour of the prawn dumplings, noodles thinner than your average noodle but it doesn't bother me and the prawn dumplings were the star of the show for me! Prawn was plump and meaty and the dumpling skin delicately melts in your mouth. This is called the shuijiao noodles. Also, roast duck was super yum ☺️
Fast And Delicious Eats!
Went here for lunch. The pork belly noodle soup was delicious and so was the shanghai dumplings which were on half price special this week. The express lunches were also good value and ready to eat so great if you are short on time!

Yes, I understand the premium we have to pay for the CBD location but this is too much for yum cha. I have no real complaints about the dishes we ate, they were reasonable but the bill at the end was enormous for the four of us. The ordering system is pretty good though - nice and easy.

Not really value for money as the dim sum is pretty average and the prices are high. Easier to walk to Northbridge and get a cheaper better meal.

I ordered BBQ pork fried rice, lamb dumpling and mango pudding. The fried rice was nice but the rice is a bit dry so it is a little bit weird for me to chew it. The dumpling was ok, it's just tasted weird for me. Lastly, the mango pudding is good. Overall, it tastes ok, but I think they need to add more seasoning and made the fried rice a little more soft.

The spicy and sour beef shin noodles (with the northern Chinese wheat noodles, not the hor fun) was really yum! So much hype on their xiao long bao, but I didn't find it all that great. The har gao skin was really thick as well. The char siew bao tasted mostly of soy sauce, and don't have the char siew taste. And how come there was no ginger slices available with the vinegar for the xlb?

Visited bambamboo for the second time today and was once again impressed by the value for money. There is not much in the way of service because it is all done on ipads however it is an efficient way to get orders through. The venue itself is spacious and modern and has a great vibe unlike some other lunchtime options in the CBD. I had the BBQ pork rice noodle soup and while there was only 4 pieces of pork throughout the entire dish.. for the price I paid I was left very satisfied. I am also a big fan of the fact you can order dim sum alongside the various bbq, rice and noodle dishes.

My most visited dim sum place to date. While you shouldn't expect amazing food you can expect good food that comes out fast. And although I wouldn't call it the number one place for dim sum, I will always be loyal to it.

Located in the heart of the city above the train station, it's always busy on a weekday lunch. Order via ipads and self collection at the kitchen bench - this place churns out dishes pretty quick. I quite like the concept, very similar to many dining places in Asia. More importantly, I think their noodle dishes are quite nice with flavoursome sauce and plenty of ingredients added. Had the hot and sour beef shin noodles which was delicious. Their charsiew bao so so, but the lamb pan fried dumplings is worth a try. Their roast duck was also meaty and juicy.

Went here for lunch on a weekday and order a lunch takeaway special - yum!!! Such a variety of options in the one meal. Will be back with friends!

Yum! I love dumplings. Went for lunch with a colleague and I want to go back next week! Thought the iPad ordering was cool, and we didn't have to wait too long for the food.

Bambamboo is a great place for dim sum anytime of the day. Have been here several times in the last year last visit went with a group of five and managed to feed 5 people with tea for under $70. The pork buns are amazing, xiao long bao are nice but I do find they break way to easy or are stuck together when steamed and this results in no soup on the inside. The chilli squid and BBQ meats are also a must order. There is also a good selection of teas.

One thing I would like to see changed is when you order on the iPads after selecting every item it comes up with a message asking if I want soup or to add anything and then puts me at the top of the menu and I have to restart. Maybe just ask me at the end of my order.

Didnt really like the whole "ordering from iPad" concept. We ordered char siew pau, har gau, bbq pork slices and the bbq pork noodles. Dim sum was good but noodles were a no no.

I really enjoyed my experience here in bambamboo! A bit confusing using iPad for ordering first but I'll get used to it! Everything I ordered was good, especially for the price. There were quite some baby high chairs on my second visit, really happy about that🙌🏻
For The Love Of Food
This is such a great place in the heart of the CBD at 140 William for a few dishes or a full smorgasboard that is not too expensive. We ordered (on the iPads) duck spring rolls, pork buns, crispy squid, sticky rice, mixed vegetables and taro balls for dessert. Everything was delicious, even the free dishes we received from being signed up to their loyalty program that we thought we would receive upon our next visit. Luckily they are happy to give you a doggy bag. Would definitely keep going back. It was easy enough to get a table after work on a Friday and the service is super quick!

Went on a Wednesday after work for the first time as it's always extremely busy during lunchtime. Food was ok, and if you're happy with self-service then this is the place for you. Personally I wasn't a fan of ordering from an iPad and although there are several iPads around I can imagine the pressure one may feel scrolling through so many choices and listening to mutterings of "hangry" patrons behind you for taking too long to order. The service staff saw that we were
a bit lost upon arrival and quick to explain the process to us which was appreciated. After scrolling through the varied choices we ordered Peking duck which was so-so, but the glutinous rice and seafood & chives dumplings were tasty. Free refills available for your teapot! Three stars for food but overall experience resulted in a 2.5 rating.

This restaurant caught my eye as I was passing & needed sustainance! Colourful & clean with I Pads outside for choosing your meal. Am a sucker for good dumplings (from my hiking in Napal days) & these were delicious with a great vegetable componant. Service was good & food not overly expensive so an enjoyable lunch on the run!

Really love this place
Self serve is easy to use and very interesting
Staff always cheerful and the food is very good for value
Chilli dumplings are my favourite and normally are pretty on point

I wasn't a fan of the iPad menus, maybe I'm too old (almost 30) to see the appeal. I much prefer being able to see more things at once and found I had to revisit each of the tabs and scroll up and down several times. I really did not like having to enter my phone number to receive a text message to pick up my order; it hasn't happened yet but I'll be really annoyed if I get any spam/promotional texts in the future. We ordered the salt and pepper squid and a dim sum steamer selection, the squid came out quickly, but the dim sum came about 10 minutes after the squid, and we'd already finished it. We had to to up to pick up the squid, but the dim sum was delivered. I'd be wary about dining alone and having my seat taken while going up to collect the food.

In terms of the food, like many others have stated, the dumpling wrappers are on the thicker side, but that doesn't bother me. I thought the taste of the ingredients of the dim sum was of a higher quality than what I've tried in Northbridge and Vic Park. It's a shame because while I did enjoy the food, I think I prefer the carts/sit-down ordering system of the traditional dim sum restaurants.

I was walking through the arcade around 12:30pm and just as I thought about what I was getting for lunch, a nice girl gave me a voucher for two free dumplings when I order lunch. If this wasn't a sign I don't know what is. I went to bambamboo and waited about 5 minutes to use the iPad. After ordering I waited about 10 minutes for my tray. Not a bad wait but totally worth it. The free dumplings were yum. Veggie pot stickers and veggie pau. I also ordered chicken wings and duck noodle soup. I was pretty hungry and I love new restaurants so I went a bit overboard. Plus two plates were free. Total was about $15. Pretty good. Chicken wings were crunchy but oily. The noodles were good too.

Had the pork belly noodles, colour dumplings and chilli dumplings all the while sitting on donut table! Haha! Love the novelty!

The noodles wasn't as soft as I expected but everything else in the bowl was YUM!

The colour dumplings was ok. The skin was too think. Same with the chilli dumplings. But the fillings was great.

And the sauce of chilli dumplings!! Wow! Amazing!

We came to bambamboo with high expectations after reading a few reveiws. I think we were let down a bit after using the ipads. They felt unresponsive and slow. Although a great idea, it would have been nicer if they were on the table or wall. Other than that, the food came out fast and hot. It tasted amazing and everyone was enjoying themselves. Will go again.
