This was such a surprise. I didn’t expect Perth to have an authentic Japanese restaurant. I was really impressed with the spicy ramen. The broth reminded me of ramen broth I had tried in Tokyo a few years ago. The egg was prepared differently to most ramen eggs but I quite liked it. I also liked the serving spoon! Service was also helpful as well. I would have loved to try other dishes as well, maybe next time.
Not sure how I've managed to live in Perth for so long and never try this restaurant... but I'm glad I finally remedied that today. I went to Edosei for lunch with my family and it was excellent! We tried the set lunches (pork katsu, teriyaki chicken) and agedashi tofu. Generous serving sizes and the set lunches came with all the trimmings - miso soup, perfectly fluffy steamed rice, pickle etc. The food was well presented and very tasty. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection - not overdone or dry. Service was friendly and efficient (thank you Yumi) and its CBD location is very convenient. The restaurant itself is nicely fitted out and quiet - just perfect for escaping the noise outside and having a proper sit-down lunch with conversation. We were quite disappointed that we were too full to order something from the delectable dessert menu and then... as a thank you for booking a table, we each received a complimentary dessert - a warm taiyaki (sweet adzuki bean cake in the shape of a fish). I absolutely love taiyaki so it was a very nice (and unexpected) touch. Despite feeling full, there is always space for taiyaki! We will definitely return. Thank you!
Fantastic Japanese restaurant smack bang in the middle of the city. Really good quality sushi and sashimi and the Japanese staff and manager really add a feel of authenticity to the place. I love coming here. It is pricy, but I feel it's worth it.
Visited today for a birthday lunch. Attentive service. Generous servings. Lovely lunch box sets. Sashimi was fresh. We were each presented a complimentary red bean pancake for dessert which were just delightful- very fresh and delicate. Very much appreciated
Second time dining at this place and food was still excellent. Sashimi were very fresh, the most basic omekase came with a good variety. Buta kakuni was tender. Wagyu sukiyaki was very flavourful. One of the best japanese places in Perth.
Delicious Japanese restaurant - great for drinks and dinner. Anything that the staff recommend are delicious and they know what's best :) Looking forward to going again soon.
I had a lunch booking for 12 to celebrate a special occasion and the staff was very accommodating. I had to pre-order and ordered all the entrees (except the oysters), 5 kinds of sashimi, the lunch box sets (fried oysters, wagyu beef, salmon, pork katsu and teriyaki chicken) (total approx $600) Everything was delicious and sashimi was as fresh as you could get. Thank you to the very attentive staff and for making lunch very special! Highly recommend Edosei for big lunch bookings but understandably, you will need to book early and pre-order at least a day in advance.
I really enjoy coming to this japanese restaurant the staffs very friendly and professional.we ordered a otoro tuna sashimi duckbreast eel bento box and a panna cotta. The dishes are well presented and definitely cooked with care.great place for a date.
Staff are friendly. Staff asked us straight when we walk in whether we have booking. Once we reached our table, water are prepared on the table and menu are given straight after. Staff is very efficient. We ordered our foods and request all dishes to come at once. It is quite fast and we do not have to wait long for your dishes. It is very delicious meals.
went here for a work lunch. food was very good, the lunch menu has a lot of nice and convenient options (easy to choose and not too expensive). really good option for a formal-ish lunch if you don't have heaps of time and a huge budget.
Updated: Legend has it that when ninjas have to assassinate someone they cook noodles on their roof to mark the target ♨️🍝🤺. Well if the noodles are as good as these stir-fried matcha soba topped with wagyu beef and shredded omelette, then mark me away, any day 🎯! The dish is served on a sizzling hot ceramic tile so the bottom of the noodles crisp up nicely 🌱, only for the heat to be relieved when dunked into a sweet soy dipping sauce. So... when does the assassination happen again?

EDOSEI has been around for a few years and I wish I discovered their Tan Tan Men earlier because it is hands down my favourite spicy miso ramen in Perth 🔥! It has a slightly thick consistency, so velvety and smooth. The flavour is delicate and not at all salty, I can definitely drink a whole bowl of soup without taking a sip of water. Beneath that liquid gold lies chunks of moreish braised pork, fatty and satisfying at the same time 😍. When it's time to break the onsen egg open you'll wanna consume it in 1 go, where the yolk oozes out and quickly disappears into the back of your palate 🐣. The sashimi is also top quality, with freshly grated wasabi served on the side. I haven't seen a restaurant in Perth serves up fresh wasabi before and it's indeed a game-changer. The service is incredibly attentive, with Jun and Yuko being so helpful and hospitable. Once you've dined at EDOSEI you'll question the authenticity of any other Perth's Japanese restaurant you set foot in. Don't believe me? See it for yourself 😜
Went here for lunch today. I had the pork entree which was absolutely delicious 👌👌 I then had the wagyu beef and green tea noodles which was different but really tasty!
first dinner at Edosei:
sashimi - fresh
karaage - not dry
tataki - ok
simmered mackerel - sweet. but still great
chirashi sushi - plenty of sashimi
would i recommend this restaurant - absolutely
Absolutely love this place, service and food is always fantastic. I would have to say I have had the best black cod I have ever tasted here and the pepper salmon steak is also another winner for me.
I'm so pleased that I found this place...by accident as often the best finds are. I was lucky to secure the last table for the evening and I really enjoyed my starter of Nigiri and some Beef Tataki, followed by the Kawara Soba Green Tea Buckweat noodles. These are amazingly presented and I'm so pleased I tried it. I would certainly return here particularly for the elegant service
Lovely Japanese restaurant. Service was very friendly and all the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Would come here again, a pleasant experience.
A very nice relaxing place, we were seated fairly quickly, and attended to. Our waiter was Fabien, a very attentive and friendly waiter. The food was delicious, karrage chicken could have been better but the tatiki wagyu beef was simply superb!
The menu has finally changed giving people like me craving for new favours. Thanks for keeping your high quality food & services. Still my favourite Japanese food restaurant.
A great modern restaurant with a formal and well thought out interior. Staff were accommodating to our special occasion requirements. Food was very tasty as well, I opted for the Kawara Soba which was beautifully presented, along with all the items on the coursed menu.
This little restaurant fitted out well for a small space.
Lovely front of house. I loved the authenticity of this place and it's all Japanese diners.
We were here during lunchtime on a weekday. The menu at this time is mostly bento box and single dishes for one.
In any case we still ordered the mixed sashimi. This was fresh and the salmon was exceptionally fatty and delicious. The snapper though had tough layer on it still - although tasted fine I've never had that before on snapper or snowfish sashimi.
They were out of wagyu which was disappointing so I got the mackerel instead.
This was delicious And perfectly cooked. A decent portion. I found lunch prices reasonable compared to some of the High end new Japanese places in town at the same time.
Will be back to try the wagyu
Great little Japanese fine dining. Great service and friendly staff. Fresh sashimi. However, cooked food is a bit too sweet for me. Overall it is a nice restaurant.
Had dinner here on a week night and the place was busy, but not crowded.
We ordered several dishes that we shared including the grilled black code was a balance between sweet and salty and the tempura prawn roll.
The best dish for the night for me was the wagyu beef steak. It was tender and very well seasoned, it also comes with a dipping sauce.
Also worth trying is the Edosei special, something different with grilled crab cake and a creamy sauce.
Finished off with the Ama-Ozen - assorted dessert platter. If there's 3 or more people on the table definitely worth to share rather than individual desserts.
The staff were very friendly and attentive.
It's great to see an Authentic Japanese restaurant with with good atmosphere. Sashimi is very fresh and wasabi isn't the instant one from the shops. Japanese shiso herb is a good addition and makes it even more authentic.
Had an amazing family dinner gathering on a rainy Saturday night in Edosei. We were absolutely delighted by the great service we received.
Strongly recommend the soba green tea noodles that were served on a sizzling hot plate. Wagyu beef steak was cooked to medium rare perfection and grilled cod with crispy skin was full with flavour.
Will definitely revisit this place :)
Another lovely Japanese restaurant in Perth. My favourite is the Kawara Soba. Served on a hot plate. Simply divine. Great service and lovely staff.
Well-designed dishes and great service. I strongly recommend the black cod, which is very soft. But the fried chicken is too salty and oily.
Friends and I walked in and found the atmosphere very inviting. The staff were attentive and polite. We stumbled upon this by chance and decided to take a chance. We are VERY happy that we came here. The food is a bit pricey but so worth it. An amazing experiece that left we wanting more. We had a 3 course meal so for 3 of us it was around $180 which is decent. We ordered the homemade tofu cold entree which was tasty and different. The wagyy beef carpaccio which was great, cut very finely and seasoned well. The karaage chicken was also seasoned nicely and we were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. For mains we had salmon which was cooked pink and melts in your mouth, tanuki with hot noodles and tempura with cold noodles. The noodles were amazing, on the level of japan based restaurants and the broth, it's very clear and you're left speechless. One of the best place to get udon or soba compared to many other japanese restuarants in perth. We got the dessert platter and it ended our night on a high. Just tantalizing, the panna cotta was smooth and had a bit of a wobble. That was the best part of the platter! The rest of the platter was just as yummy though. I would recommend this restaurant for a nice night out for a date as the staff is so friendly, authentic japanese service. Will definitely come back!
Cod was incredible. Sweet and flavourful skin. Wagyu steak was so-so. Soba with tenpura was very pleasant - especially the buckwheat noodles themselves. Great texture and density. It's fairly pricey but it's in recognition of their very attentive service and well cooked food. Great for intimate dates, something special or a lone foodie.
I have been wanting to pay Edosei a visit since so long. When Mum and Dad were over east for work, it was just GC and I left to fend for ourselves. After a long week of hard work, we decided to treat ourselves and eat out. Chicken karaage – According to GC, this is *the* best he’s had. It came out fresh and sizzling. I could hear the crunch when he first bit into it. The chicken is supremely juicy despite the breast meat used. I must also mention there was no conversation, basically a monologue from me, because he was so engrossed in the deliciousness of this dish.
My wife and I are regulars here. Food is consistently perfect as well as the service. If you complain about the food being bland, then you obviously do not have the taste for authentic Japanese cuisine so I'd recommend that you go to one of the other chain restaurants/takeouts "prepared" by non- Japanese chefs. Anyway I digress. This place is so great that I've brought my clients here.
If you are not looking for Edosei you may just walk past it. It is almost hidden on Barrack Street, tucked away if not for the simple name plating outside. The decor inside is simplistic and beautifully refined. Following each other into the restaurant at the end of the working day are local salary men who are also eagerly greeted regulars, ready for a good meal and a bottle of sake.
such excellent japanese. honestly one of the best ive had. soba noodles were perfect texture, both the cold and hot style. the tofu entree was a melt in your mouth smooth creamy, unlike any commercial tofu, so yum! also got a dessert (panna cotta & soy choc pudding), again both excellent. service was fantastic and very quality. overall definitely a come again place
Lovely little restaurant with excellent service. I ordered the signature salad, three kinds of sashimi and skewered eggplant with miso. Everything came out quite promptly and was absolutely divine. The sashimi was perfect - not too small slices and exquisitely fresh. The salad was a revelation too - amazing dressing! Service is friendly and prompt without making you feel rushed. I heard quite a few people speaking japanese so if the local japanese are eating here then it must be really good!!
What a great restaurant. Fast service. Great food and ambience. Waiters were very friendly and attentive.
Had the wagu beef with green tea buckwheat noodles. And had pork belly for an entree. Also had teriyaki chicken. Will definitely be comming back here. 5 stars.
This restaurant attracts actual Japanese diners, so it must be legit right?. We ordered food to share, even though the lunch menu is mostly bento box sets or single person meals. I felt like a kid in a candy shop! Pork belly, soba noodles, a rainbow of sashimi, dessert platters, whatever my heart (and stomach) desired… my boss is pretty awesome right?
Likes: delish pork belly, super fresh sashimi, wonderful staff
Dislikes: servings a little small given the steeper prices, average karaage
Value for money: okay, but this is more expensive than your local sushi joint
Overall: fine Japanese food, great for business meeting or your in-laws
Excellent Authentic Japanese restaurant, Great quality with beautiful presented food. The decor was beautiful and service was very attentive. What a place. Highly recommended.
We came here for my housemate's birthday. The service was one of the best I have experienced in Perth and they were very helpful. The surrounding was certainly elegant and sophisticated with a pleasant ambiance. We ordered kaarage, wagyu beef, teriyaki chicken and soba green tea noodles. The food was undoubtedly tasty, although I found that there was nothing special about the teriyaki chicken. The wagyu beef was so so so delicious, it came with some sauce which complimented the beef so well. The soba green tea noodles was the best dish we ordered. Overall, the food is amazing but overpriced for the mains. We spent over $500 for 7 people and ended up making instant noodles at home since none of us were full.
Unfortunately I've only been for lunch at this place but Edosei's Box Set is definitely a perfect grab for lunch. It's a three course meal and all three were delicious. At first look not look very filling but I was pretty struggling to get up after the meal. It's worth the price of $40. Plus the customer service was exceptionally good, everyone was nice.
Possibly the best Japanese in Perth. Service is outstanding, the decor is high class and the food is sublime. Can't wait to go back and true ALL the noodles.
It is the best Japanese restaurant in Perth. If u like jap food, should go to have a try.Highly recommendation to try the Plum wine、tofu、and the roasted duck☺️
Came here for a friends birthday and for entree I had the edosei special which was the grilled crab cake ovals with avocado ($10$ it was super creamy and delicious I wanted to eat more. For mains I had the 5 kinds of sashimi ($45), they were all very fresh and delicious. We also had the kawara soba green tea buckwheat noodles ($30) which was served on a ceramic tile, again it was delicious but I wished it had more meat on it :( Overall food was good but service could of been a tad better, had to ask twice to get our tea refilled.
On the pricier side, but food is of quality. My girlfriend really loved the place. Nice ambience too. We had the 3 fish sashimi, the special sushi plate, and the pork belly entree. They were all very well made except for the bone I found in my sashimi which shouldn't happen for the price you pay. The green tea ice cream and cheesecake were awesome. Overall good place to eat.
Went here to celebrate my bfs birthday.. Service was excellent.. Pork kakuni is good and soft.. The duck was sooo good.. Cooked beautifully and the sauce was perfect.. It was melt in your mouth and just so soft.. The greentea soba noodle was great! Served in hot plate with some wagyu slice on top.. The flavour of the noodle work well with the dipping sauce and the radish on top.. Black cod miso is not as good as Nobu (Nobu is still on top of the list) :) The onzen desserts was not as impressive, everything is good average but theyre not really japanese desserts.. But overall it was a great dinner and satisfied with the food :)
Very nice experience! Staff and service quick and friendly! food yummy!
This place does not need another positive review but I'll still write one anyway. We came across this place by chance as Bonsai was closed on Monday. But we were so glad we came. The service was perfect - we were served by the courteous manager himself and food was served promptly. It was delicious and well presented. Ambience was lovely, dimly lighted room but not too dim for a good photo and jazzy music to accompany the good food. Overall there's nothing to complain about and we'll definitely be back!
Perhaps a bit pretentious & pricey yes, but great food. Miso cod was delicious, sashimi top class, nice ambiance & friendly, attentive staff.
My husband and I are vegetarians and they happily accommodated to our dietary needs. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, the service was attentive and very polite. The food was outstanding. We went with a friend and all of us shared entrees and had the soba. It was the best we've all had, instead of the usual wet type or served hot, it was on a hot stone that gave it a crispy smoked taste. Definitely coming back for another visit!
Small but cozy restaurant with modern decor. Entrees and mains portion were small. Food was well presented, visually appealing and full of flavor.
The meal was accompanied by a trio of sake. Gave you an ideal of the smoothness of sake according to grain percentage present. Which I liked.
Dessert was hit and miss. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Overall it was a nice experience, but on the pricey side.
Wow, fantastic! The Wagyu Beef Tataki Carpaccio was absolutely yummy! Roasted Duck was very good too! The Grilled Eggplant with Miso was not really that good though. The Kawara Soba Green Tea Buckwheat Noodles was also very yummy! Be careful of that hot ceramic tile it's served on though. The desserts in the Ama-Ozen was good, except I didn't really like the red beans dessert. Service was excellent!
Stumbled across this place whilst trying to find some good Japanese delicacies. Well worth the rating given, the cod and pork belly dishes are a must try and the service was unexpectedly good for an eatery in the CBD. Definitely recommended for a fine dining experience on a budget.
This has quickly became my favourite restaurant of all times in Perth! Everything they make is perfection! From the lunch menus to the dessert menu! Everything they have on offer is a must-try!
For tonight's dinner, we ordered the octopus, which had a plain appearance, but bursting with flavours; the wagyu tataki was absolutely amazing, 5 types of sashimi was literally an orgasm on a plate! Everything was so fresh! The karaage chicken was juicy and tender, the coating crispy, and the green tea soba was a fusion between normal soba with 麺つゆ and 焼きそば!
We had ordered everything on the dessert menu, because we are greedy people, and we loved everything single one!! The ice cream was obviously homemade, the Panna cotta was so creamy, and the cheesecake was spot on!

Went in for dinner again and found that they have added course menu option. It's either $80pp or $100pp, which is rather cheap as course menus go. We went for the $100 option and it was definitely worth it! Everything was expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection, though I must say, this was the first time I've had course menu and been stuffed to the full. Anyways it is definitely worth a try and I highly recommend it! Such a good way to sample their menu too!
What a find! I was heading somewhere close by there. Then I spotted a kind of modern Japanese restaurant which I thought it is new. But after talking to staff he said it has been opening about one year. I gave it ago as I thought it would be great. I order buta kakuni (slow cooked) pork belly which I always searched for at many Japanese restaurants but never found one. I also ordered simmer mackerels with side dishes, rice and miso soup. I love the mackerel because it was full of flavor and good and the buta but the miso soup I felt the soup was a bit thin. I expected the more flavorsome stock. At the end, I order cheesecakes Which came with green tea ice cream, nashi pear and chopstick chocolate $14. It was really reasonable price but I think the ice cream needs to be more creamy and the fruits should have ripen more so it gave sweetness. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I definitely go back soon with friends.
I don't usually write reviews but our dining experience here was too lovely not to do so! It was quiet for a Saturday night and the waiting staff were very attentive. I'm very picky about seafood but couldn't find fault with the quality of their cod and sashimi platter. We loved their dessert range - the cheesecake, mochi and green tea ice cream was so delish. We finished our dinner late but they were still very warm and friendly up till we were done. Not a single word or gesture that made us feel that we should leave! Excellent food, great service - def coming back again!
Absolutely wonderful service here. The dishes are beautifully executed as well. The miso black cod is worth a try even though it leans slightly towards the salty side. Definitely will be coming back for more!
Pretty good authentic Japanese food! Came here with my bestie for dinner a while ago, had very pleasant experience! The decor was intimate and cosy, very minimalistic and modern. The staffs were all Japanese and offered superb service. We sampled quite a large selection from good sized menu, ordered: Edosei special, 3 kinds of sashimi, seared salmon nigiri, grilled black cod and Greentea soba noodles. First off, the highlight of the night: the Edosei special... Man! SO GOOD! Everything melted in your mouth, so creamy and you can taste the under laying charred flavour from the torching of crab meat. I've had a very similar version over East, but this is the first in Perth. The Sashimi were so fresh and very well cut. The seared salmon was underwhelming, I thought it was going to be Aburi style, but it had no sauce on it and it was not torched to perfection as the salmon did not melt in your mouth and was quite bland. Next up, the cod, it was lovely! Very juicy and tender in texture, very flavoursome and I was genuinely impressed. It was not Nobu cod, but it would be the closest match in Perth. Given the price and size of this dish compared to Nobu, it was well worth it. Finally we fished off with their signature dish, Greentea soba noodles as recommended to us. It was such an creative dish, came out on a hot sizzling plate and it looked so cool. It was interesting to eat the soba hot and part of the bite crunchy from the hot plate, the dipping sauces were nicely presented and well flavoured. The wagyu beef that topped the dish was juicy and tender, the only thing I would pick out of this dish is probably its noodle to toppings ratio. Too much noodle and not enough topping. Hehe would definitely come back here! Well done Edosei!
Came here with friends for a birthday dinner a few weeks ago. The atmosphere is really nice inside and the service is really great. My favourite dish of the day was the cod as the flavours were really nice and the fish was cooked so well it practically flaked in your chopstick. I also liked the flavour of the dipping noodles especially because it's served on a hot plate which makes nice crispy bits. We also got the pork belly which I didn't really enjoy as I found it to be abit dry and the waygu however was cooked nice was abit plain flavour wise. For dessert we had the cheesecake and pannacotta. I'm not a fan of cheese cake lover but it tasted really good but the winner was definitely the pannacotta which was so smooth and silky. Was a really great nice with good food, will be back again in the future :)
A nice spot if you are after some finer Japanese in the CBD (similar price range to say Shiro and Sushia). I often see japanese office workers eat here which gives it a pretty big stamp of approval.
The dishes I loved: kawara green tea soba, white fish carpaccio with chilli, sashimi and the nigiri.
Great service and love the dark lush interior.
Whenever I'm with my mum, it's always difficult to decide where to eat because she's a picky eater.. but luckily we both like Japanese food a lot! After hearing only positive reviews from some of my friends, I decided to give Edosei a try. I got the green tea buckwheat noodles and I loved it! The wagyu beef was so so nice. I wish were there more of it though. It was served on a hot ceramic tile which makes the noodles a bit crispy! My mum got the conger eel which was nice but nothing special. The karaage chicken was not what I had expected; there wasn't the thick crunchy batter that I was used to. However, the breast pieces were so tender and paired really well with the citrus pepper paste. We decided to share the dessert platter which consists of their 3 desserts; home-made baked cheesecake, pannacotta and castella sponge cake. I really liked the baked cheesecake! The service was exceptional and it's always a relief when you see Japanese customers at a Japanese restaurant.
Edosei went straight on my list as it was highly recommended by a few friends & even claimed as currently their favourite Japanese restaurant in Perth. They're trustable sources so I decided to organise my 21st birthday dinner here with a group of 13 other friends :P. Overall, my experience at Edosei was a really good one. Having had to pre-order the food because we came in a big group, they made sure that everyone was here prior to serving the food. As soon as a dish was finished, the next would be ready to be served. I just loved how they were so organised!
Wish I had a photo for this place! Everything was fantastic. This might actually be my new favourite Japanese restaurant in Perth. Although can't wait to see how it compares to James Parker over in Northbridge. Me and the wife came here for the first time during the day after we had just got back from Thailand. We were all "Thai'd out" and had massive cravings for what we love most. Stumbled across this place by accident. It was pretty quiet when we arrived as it was lunch time during the week. The staff were very professional though and did not lack enthusiasm. I felt like I was back in Japan again! I loved the theme of the place, very modern and sleek looking. Our food was not cheap, but was well worth it. We went for the $40 lunch package and would definitely do it again. Best sashimi in Perth so far. Very succulent and generous in serving size. You know it's a good experience when you get what you crave and more. Totally unexpected. Can't wait to go back with friends :)
Aburi Salmon Nigiri 5eva
+4.5
Went here for lunch on a Thursday. It was quiet, but that's certainly no indication of the quality of their food. We had the sashimi entree, the beef tataki, and the caramelised pork belly. All 3 dishes were amazing. The service was fantastic, and I really loved the decor and fit out of the restaurant. I was really looking forward to coming here, and the only thing that disappointed me was the limited menu at lunch time compared to dinner. Will definitely be back for dinner!
Edit: Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We had the salmon nigiri, seared salmon nigiri, marinated tuna nigiri, beef tataki, miso eggplant, and black cod miso. All dishes were fantastic. The sushi rice lacked a bit of flavour, but overall it was still amazing. I think I ordered a bit too fast for our poor waiter, who must not have had a chance to write down the miso eggplant so I had to ask for it again later, but it came out pretty quickly after that.
Best quality sashimi I've had in Perth! Restaurant also had a beautiful, modern Tokyo vibe. Staff are attentive and polite.
Only change/addition I would like to see is possibly more noodle dishes. I'm a huge fan of both udon and soba and would love to see it on the menu!
Group of us (6 adults) decided to have Japanese for a semi-business lunch. We picked Edosei because it's in the heart of CBD and we have heard a few positive feedback among friends. The service was attentive and customer focused which their manners actually remind me of how you would be treated in restaurants in Japan. The lunch bento box has quite a lot of varieties to choose from and good value (as a la carte can be pricey in comparison). Everyone pretty much chose different mains which the presentation turned out good and tasted authentic with sashimi worth our high recommendation. We finished the meal with a dessert platter to share - thumbs up for $28 with six mini desserts to taste. Only criticism is that the main meals didn't come out at the same time so some of us have to watch others eat otherwise definitely 5 out of 5.
Perfect service, wonderful traditional Japanese food. Fresh fish, good options for sake, comfortable place. The only detail to be improved would be the rice, in my opinion. Other colleagues loved it, though.
I always walk past this place and have Korean instead but A friend suggested we try it and so we did.
We ordered the Entrée the Edosei Special Grilled Crab and Karaage Chicken
The Grilled Crab was fantastic and the special sauce was great. The Karaage Chicken was a bit average. And not the usual we see in other Japanese restaurants. It tasted like a chicken nugget.
For mains we ordered the 3 Kinds of Sashimi which was ok. And the Nigiri Scallop that was quite nice. The Kawara SobaGreen Tea Buckwheat Noodle was so good that’s a winner that dish.
Time for Dessert and I was going to go for a Panna Cotta, and wife and friend was going to share the Cheese cake. The two combined was going to be $28 dollars so I decided to suggest we try the Tasting plate which was $28. This was choice to make as you got all the above desserts. We looked at other tables and those who ordered individual desserts got the same size as what we did on out tasting plate.
Service was fantastic and atmosphere was good. Will be going back with a few more people to try other dishes
Great service and food however the black cod miso is not as good as nobu or even kuza ... And tempura is quite blend .... The rest is quite decent....
Great service, great food. This place is the bomb. If you're looking for a great food experience with attentive service go here. New favourite japanese place. Requires a bit of capital but worth it. Japanese businessmen were especially entertaining.
Couldn't fault it. If you've been to Tokyo and had sashimi or sushi there you will understand that it is impossible to find sashimi/sushi in Perth that is even remotely close to the quality and freshness of Tokyo's...
..however, Edosei proved me wrong! My husband and I dined there last night and were so impressed. We ordered the oysters, tuna nigiri, king fish nigiri, the chirashi, black miso cod and miso soup. We couldn't fault anything. We are both fairly light eaters and racked up $84 between us, I would usually be unimpressed by the price however believe it is fair due to quality and freshness. The waiter told us that their fish is flown in from Melbourne fish market where they get better quality fish than of Perth's fish markets. On that note, ill add that the service was impeccable.
Thanks Edosei for the amazing experience! We will definitely be back!
A Great New Japanese Restaurant. Popped in here yesterday with a friend for lunch. You would probably not expect to find a restaurant like this along Barrack Street as it would probably feel more comfortable along St George's Terrace or along Beaufort Street typically. The space is elegant and inviting, and great place for a lunch meeting in the city too. Food here is delicious and fresh. We had agedashi tofu to share as an entree and a sashimi lunch set each. The fish was so fresh and portions were generous although it did take awhile for our mains to come out which the service team did apologise for the delay. Service was great. Friendly, unobtrusive and genuine. I'm looking forward to trying this place for dinner sometime.
I have walked past Edosei several times and since it is relatively new I knew I wanted to try it sooner rather than later. Traditionally, I always get some Sushi if I am in a rush somewhere but recently I fell in love with Bento Boxes which made me want to explore Japanese cuisine outside the realm of the Sushi Rolls. I am so glad that I visited Edosei as my lunch there was so perfect in so many ways. I choose the Lunch Box Course which included 3 courses. The First Box included an appetizer and Sashimi. I loved the various slices of fresh fish (Tuna and King Fish) and Spiced Chicken. Next was the Main Course that was divided into five parts that included Sashimi, Tempura vegetables, grilled meat and fish as well as seared Sushi. I loved how some of the dishes had a garnish on to (lemongrass and ginger) which gave a perfect pop of flavour. The final part of the lunch was Sticky Rice Ice Cream which was a perfect end to the meal. My lunch at Edosei was so beautifully presented and was a joy to eat. Not only is the food beautiful in every way, the restaurant is well designed and a wonderful place to enjoy a meal. The staff were wonderful and I would recommend Edosei to anyone who appreciate beautiful Japanese food.
Really good!! The food are fresh and delicious! Especially the octopus~ we have two^^ Waitresses are very friendly~ worth to go! I love here!!
Quite good. Its not the cheapest to dine here but the food is good and service is great, We had: edosei special, octopus sashimi, agadeshi tofu with eggplant, chirashi sushi and the dessert platter.
I really liked the chirashi - fresh and a great assortment of seafood on a bed of rice. The rest were good too but not outstanding. Edosei special was tasty but i couldn't find much real crab meat (just that crabstick/seafood highlighter mix) and the agadeshi tofu was very dense (it was unique and it had a texture more like the indian cheese paneer) but would please any tofu lover, Octopus was good but not the softest I have had.
The dessert platter was good too - we had an assortment of mochi icecream, creme brulee, panna cotta, some biscuits and chocolate. creme brulee was quite light but i felt was a little bit eggy.
I would return to try other dishes or for a special occasion.
Amazing Japanese in Perth CBD. This is an incredible restaurant right in the heart of Perth CBD. The ambiance and service is of a very high standard. The food is faultless, best dish was Grill Eggplant with Miso. Will definitely be coming back here.
Finally! A fantastic Japanese restaurant serving quality sashimi - almost to the same standard as the East Coast! I was told by the owner they fly in their fish from Melbourne fresh every couple of days *big thumbs up*
Superb dinner and restaurant! One of the delicious dishes that we ordered was the special sushi plate, the ingredients were all fresh and high quality! Nigiri (rice) was in an appropriate size! On top of that, the serves was AMAZING!
I will definitely come back!
Highly recommend this restaurant!. The food was delicious and fresh and the staff was very friendly :)
Totally worth it. Thursday October 9 Dinner
Love the fresh sashimi served at perfect almost room temperature.. not too cold!
Love the presentation of each dish
Love the variety of dishes available
Love the FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice
Love the wonderful not-too-invasive service with that friendly smile
Love the dessert platter
Loathe the usual parking dramas of perth CBD
My friend who is male actually commented that the toilets were good too! hahaha thats got to be something right?
Definitely try the Edosei Special Crab Ovals and the 5 style sashimi dish. The scallops are some to die for and not to mention, the octopus was surprisingly delicious - lightly boiled but served chilled with a superb amount of radish and a tasty salt to compliment! Must have dessert mind you!
Though small, the restaurant has a warm and intimate setting. The restaurant has an open kitchen design, where a display case is perched on a ledge, showing the latest and freshest catch while diners can also catch a glimpse of the chefs preparing the food at the same time. The small mirror also played an effective optical illusion trick on Stan and I, making us think that there was an extra room and tables on the other side of the restaurant. The manager and staff were friendly, attentive and prompt with their service.
Came here with a bunch of people and kids as well, staff was very friendly and patient with us. When we dropped cutlery on the floor, she came up with new ones straight away without us asking for replacement.
Food is great, good seasonings, fast delivery with good temperature.
Presentation was pleasant, price is reasonable for good portion.
Would love to come back another time.
Booked a table last minute. Had no idea so fancy and beautiful this place is. Everything tasted delicious but the Black Cod fish is something from other world.
Environment was friendly and relaxed.
Definitely will recommend and will go back for more.
The sashimi is average nothing special compared to the other Japanese restaurants, the grilled eel rice called Unadon is well cooked and delicious the sauce make it perfect. The restaurant is busy after 12:30 the staff were attentive.
Very good Japanese food in CBD.
I had generous amount of fish. They are also fresh. Agedashi tofu and the seafood poke are my favourite.
Very recommended
The restaurant decor is quite pleasant and modern. The food were presentable and nice. Pricing is in the mid range. The waitresses were friendly and served us with a smile.
Simply Wonderful. Just having a simple lunch with the family. I've ordered 3 simple complete meals. Totally enjoying them... The taste were simply wonderful. A return is a must, to try other dishes. The restaurant is a bit small if you have a huge crowd. The staffs were friendly and very welcoming. I think prices are reasonable. I am just hoping that free teas were available. Many thanks.
Tried the lunch menu today, quality & taste was good. Service was friendly & swift. Nice & simple decor. Price on the higher end for what you get.
Edosei is a great Japanese restaurant with something for everyone. Even if sushi or seafood isn’t your thing there is something for you.
The ambiance is just divine. It’s a perfect mix of comforting and friendly.
