Review Viet Hoa Vietnamese Restaurant - Perth

Adrian M
Almost an institution when it comes to Vietnamese food in Northbridge, this restaurant has been around for what seems like forever. Over the years it has been consistent in its offerings which were maybe not the top but still a good average across the many Vietnamese restaurants around. However, on the latest occasion we went, the food was a little less consistent. On one hand they offer some intensely flavourful broths like with the Braised Duck Egg Noodle Soup, but on the other hand the pork chop in the broken rice was quite dry and lacked enough flavour. However, overall it's still a decent place to go for Vietnamese food with a reasonably large dining area. They also currently run a 10% off promotion for takeaways.

Great Vietnamese food! My goto place for Phó in Perth. Tasty not too salty beef broth. Silky soft Hofun noodles. Giant stuffed chicken wings with soft moist fillings. Always satisfied never disappoints.
Sunwoo Kim
Went to grab lunch as we felt like some Vietnamese. The pho tai and garlic king prawn were very good but not sure if I am going to try the stir fried veges again... The customer service was very exceptional, will be back to try some other menus soon😋🍤🍲🍜

The best Vietnamese food we've ever had in Australia. Ordered the boneless fried chicken feet, beef vermicelli salad, and pork chop with rice.
Jez Robertson
Eat where the locals eat. This place has been a Vietnamese food go to for years. Always great service. Never booked ahead but always got a table quickly. Food is great and very well priced.

Good food and fast service. Tried stuffed chicken wings , chicken mince rice with lemon grass and chicken curry with noodles . All the dishes were good. Do not sit opposite to the main door as it gets cold when ever some one opens the door. Will definitely go back

Had beef with lemon grass and rice noodles. It was very delicious! Good prices (11-16$ most of it). But sitting near the door is not a nice atmosphere. Felt the cold wind blowing into the restaurant every time the door opened. Second time we did not sit at the door and the food was again excellent. Prawn dumpling soup, huge portion, $15.50. A friend was also more than happy with a seafood soup.

We ordered "fried rice" and for whatever reason it was with bacon! Why?! Come on - bacon in fried rice?! Seriously??? Stir fry veggies with tofu were all right, but not going to come back

Viet Hoa is a bit of a Perth institution and we have visited several times. It does Vietnamese food, cafe style, and it does this very well. The menu is enormous, really enormous, and you will dither over the array of goodies. They also have specials which are on the board above the kitchen hatch. Some of my favourite entrees are the rice paper rolls, and the vietnamese grilled beef skewers with wine. The omelettes are also pretty good. The choice of soups is amazing, pho and bun, rice noodles, vermicelli noodles, then there’s chow mein, duck and rice, chicken curry, laksa, sweet and sour, satays, stir fries. There really is something for everybody.

I often came here with friends coz of great food, but today very disappointed with the services the host is very rude after she gave me table followed 10 minute she asked me if my friend is coming I told her she will be here in 10 minutes I still looked at the menu she asked me again for second time if your friend not coming in 10 minutes would you waited outside coz we still have customer waiting and I looked around there’s no customers, a lots of table empty a few people waiting for takeaway what a joke??? All the staff never smiled a shame I will never comeback here not because of the food but with their attitude 0 out of 10

*Rating is a 2.5*<br/>It feels like Viet Hoa has been around forever and day. Was a bit disappointed in my most recent visit. Ordered the Vietnamese fresh spring rolls (good), Kai lan with garlic sauce (very bitter and sauce had no flavour), Seafood hofan noodles (ok), and Tofu & vegetable rice noodle stir fry (bland). Decor is tired and the restaurant feels a bit grimey & grungy, food came out fast, and the menu is extensive. Stomach was a bit upset for a couple of days after which I’m guessing has to do with some pretty high levels of MSG in the dishes.
Harsh But Fair
Feels a little gungy due to high turnover of tables and flooring. Tasty food once you can get past those things.

I went here to have a lunch on my business trip with my colleagues and clients. Super delicious vietnamese noodle. Good service from the staff.
Food Mania
We ordered curry chicken and broken rice. Food is normal. Service is ok. Take a while to service us. Maybe less staff in public holiday. Overall, it is normal food.
Reuben Black
Canteen styled interior with average service. Got the pho dac biet which was really good! Meat and noodles were top notch but my friend commented the broth was a little salty. Not too over powering though - overall it was a nice experience. Would give 3.5 if I could
JuYeethejoey
Ordered the rice drop noodle which is available on Sunday and Monday only. It actually taste a lot like 'lou shu fun'. It comes with prawn crackers and its best to eat it asap otherwise its gonna get soggy. The broth is clear but so flavourful. Didnt enjoy the chicken much as it is too dry and the pork too fat. Overall the price is cheap, food is good, service is quick and they even throw in complimentary chinese tea.

Nice ambiance, huge restaurant.<br/><br/>Broken rice is my favourite.<br/>And the pork and prawn rice paper rolls.<br/>For soup I normally go for combination beef hofun soup<br/><br/><br/>

It is always busy but it won’t take longer for you to get a seat. The service is efficient and the staff is friendly. <br/><br/>For entrees we asked for pork and prawns paper rolls they were just outstanding. Now the meat balls Pho is the best that I have had in Perth.
Rachael
Always been a favourite of mine, the taste isn’t quite what I remember. The prawn crackers are a must have as they’re nice batter with crispy prawn base, it is a bit oily. The pho was super disappointing, the broth is balanced wrong, the meat was fatty which was rendered, the noodles were very starchy. Waitress forgot an order for iced coffee which was also disappointing.
Foodie In Paradise
I really like the pho at this restaurant even though it was full of MSG. Very authentic Vietnamese food with reasonable price. Service was fast and efficient.
Belicia Tjendera
Love this place! My favourite Vietnamese restaurant in all of perth. I always get the same thing on the menu, Pork Chop & Broken Rice. I can’t speak for the other dishes but my friends were really pleased. The portion sizes are massive so it’s definitely worth the price.
The Go Go Mumma
My favourite dish every time I visit Perth, is their BBQ Pork, wanton egg noodle soup; which my rating is purely based on. <br/><br/>The venue isn’t fancy but all of their meals I’ve had, have been fresh and filled the spot without that heavy feeling. <br/><br/>My favorite dish is a must when you visit!
A.Buccheri
The most disgusting food I have ever eaten! Found two hairs in two different dishes! A table of 11 people and not one person said it was good. Revolting! Service was a joke too had a waitress burp on my sister while she was being served. Yuck!'n
Tia Chiellini
The most disgusting place I have ever been to! We went for my husbands birthday 11 people and many dishes and not one of us was happy with the food! Also found two hairs in two different dishes!! Disgusting! Serves was also very poor. Never ever again
Good Food Good Mood
I did not care for this place. Possibly because it's super super authentic and we were ordering to share for the table so I didn't really get the dishes I personally would have chosen to eat. Not much to speak of atmosphere wise but certainly traditional flavours and recipes. Laksa and pho are not my bag so I mainly ate the rice paper rolls The rest of my dining companions were definitely satisfied though
Covert
The best vietnamese beef salad in Perth. No if's or but's or maybe's. Quality is outstanding every time and have been here dozens of times. Tried other places but they all come second.
Wulan Sucipto
The food is authentic especially the pho. I always come back again for it especially in winter time. This place is always busy, no wonder because their food is nice and they serve fast.
Carmen Wong
Ordered the pho tai nam and seafood laksa - was not disappointed. The pho broth was pretty good and hearty, to my liking at least. It was clear and light, but had that beefy flavour to it. The beef was real tender and fresh as well. <br/><br/>The seafood laksa's broth wasn't the best, but I mean, it's a Vietnamese restaurant so that's okay. I love how well-cooked the noodles here are! They aren't too soft or hard which a lot of places actually mess up with. <br/><br/>Overall, I wouldn't mind coming over again for a quick pho-fix! The prices are reasonable and the food is authentic.
Nicole Chiplin
Without a doubt, Viet Hoa have the BEST chicken Hofun soup in town.. I haven't been able to find a competitor.. <br/>Restaurant always packed, service is whirlwind, food comes out in a speedy fashion even though they are pumping. <br/>It's pretty No frills as far as dining In goes, but the food is sooooo good!!
Eero
Have come here several times and for a good reason. This time on the menu: duck with soy sauce and rice, beef hofan and fried squid. The food came out quick and this is one of the reasons I like this place. If I go to a restaurant I'm already hungry and don't want to be waiting 45 minutes for my food. Squid was amazingly well fried and serving size big, duck with sauce on the side tasted good too. Hofan needed a bit more seasoning but was in general nice.
Kazzablanca13
My favourite Vietnamese restaurant for pho and boneless chicken wings. Always busy but tables turn over relatively quickly. They will take bookings for large groups. Try the avocado milkshake.
Perth Eater
This food is delicious. Very busy restaurant but worth waiting for. Service is good. Parking can be difficult with the busy Street. Prices very reasonable.
Missdelish
Very good Vietnamese. Viet Hoa is one of many Asian canteens on William St but is always busy with large serves of delicious food. <br/><br/>A gigantic bowl of irresistible combination noodle soup will cost you about $13 - and you won't need to eat again for ages. There's a big basket of condiments you can add, as well as beam shoots, Vietnamese mint and lemon delivered to your table. Chinese tea is free but it's worth paying the $6 for the refreshing avocado shake. Service is fast, friendly and family oriented. Go as often as you can.
Maria
It has been almost 20yrs since I have visited the original owners of Viet Hoa. It used to be very fresh and succulent . My favourite dish was The Duck Noodle soup. But today craving for that duck dish we went to eat it but came out to be a huge massive disappointment. Not only was the soup noodles were salty but the duck meat was even worst. The meat wasn't fresh hardly any meat on it but the sauce was also very salty couldn't taste the sweetness of the meat at all. It was excessively salty to the point that my taste buds after eating was tingling awfully. We told the staff member/manager there but disappointed in the fact that she refused to acknowledge our view. You need to listen to customers comments because we are the tasters and payers to improve your business. We will never come back again.
The Culinary Enthusiast
Really delicious Vietnamese food and fast service. Great for a quick pop-in and pop-out! I tried the pho tai bo vien and the traditional com tam. YUM!
Billylamb
The broken rice is delicious. Pork chop is marinated well. The combination egg noodle soup is nice and has great noodles but would choose other dishes over this. The tea could be a bit stronger and more fragrant though.
Hospo Twat
Best Vietnamese in in perth for sure. Came here desperate to fill the void that was our Sunday ritual of pho in footscray, and this place came up with the goods! Damn good pho. But zomato seems to think the average price is $68 for two people....my family of 4 eat ourselves stupid for $70. Just sayin'. And I'm talking like pho coming out the wazoo. <br/><br/>Bangin' viet iced coffees too. <br/><br/>See you again on Sunday!
Casey
The food here is tasty. I have been coming here for years. Ordered the stewed beef with egg noodles. I highly recommend trying this as it showcases the French influence colonising Vietnam.
Dee
Unauthentic...<br/>I don't know why there's so many people that dine here. It's busy, bad customer service and a queue to pay the bill. Confused.
Hippo309
Every time I pass by this place, it's always packed. So thought I'd give it a try. Service was mediocre, the broth for the pho was a little too "much". I like my pho broth to be clear and sweet.
Reynaldo
Don't think this will be the best vietnamese place you could find in perth, but it has reasonable price, decent food, and fast service. I think it deserves a visit for a quick vietnamese dinner.
Oiaimee
I love the bustle of Viet Hoa, it always has such a lively atmosphere. The portions are really generous, reasonably priced and the food is always full of flavour. The last time we went we ordered the stuffed chicken wings, spring rolls, beef vermicelli salad and grilled pork with rice. The grilled pork had a lovely char grilled flavour and the pork a nice hint of lemongrass. Drinks wise, I love the pineapple shake but the Vietnamese ice coffee gets delivered to your table using the traditional contraption and condensed milk, which is quite cool.
Katie Donnelly
Yum. Great value, don't be put off by the basic old function room setting. Great for a cheap casual meal with friends. We will definetly be back.
Renato
Even after 8:30pm on a Tuesday night Viet Hoa was mostly full, which is a great sign. We decided on the $28 banquet and were fed a huge amount of food for that price. For no-frills it's great. Will defo be back.
InMyFaceHole
I've never eaten in the Asian district of upper William St. It always seems busy and too manic but a friend suggested Viet Hoa so I braved the masses. <br/>This place is quite big but busy (Monday lunchtime). Service was a little slow but my friend commented they're usually much quicker. <br/>We shared two servings of spring rolls ($7ea for 4), super crispy and not at all greasy. Highly recommend. I then had the seafood laksa ($13.50). The soup was spicy and tasty, absolutely LOADED with seafood and yummy egg noodles. The prawns in here were super meaty, suspect they were WA tiger prawns, YUM!!<br/>I thought it was excellent value for money and the meal sat really well in my belly. Will def be back!

Very lucky to get a table for one at 6pm Sunday evening - the buzz of a popular restaurant crossed between the silence of people enjoying their foods is Viet Hoa and you get what you want out of it. <br/>I ordered the Bun Bo Xao (braised beef with lemongrass and vermicelli noodles +salad) which came out fast, hot and delicious. I'm not a vietnamese cuisine connoisseur by any means but it was full of flavour, infused meat and a spicy kick exactly what I expected. The dish is huge so bring your appetite! I did have the same dish in London recently and what my Viet Hoa Bun Bo lacked in comparison was the freshness that balances/cuts your palate from the meaty and spicy flavours.<br/>Satisfying for a Sunday eve on your own!
Aisha Handa
The place is cheap but quite huge, so doesn't give off the dingy feel found in some smaller cheap asian eateries. Instead it is cheerful and always bustling, with prompt service. The pho is huge and flavourful, I can never finish it. Ive tried the roast duck, also nice. Recently joined a group of friends and sampled a variety of dishes they'd ordered, fried rice, tofu, chicken with cashew nuts and fried chicken, unfortunately quite meh this time around. Well, can still be back and find more favourites from the menu without burning a hole in my pocket!

Good value Vietnamese food<br/><br/> Viet Hoa is your typical cheap and cheerful Vietnamese eatery.  It was crowded for a Tuesday night, but despite that the service was good.  Our food came out quickly and we were given a dish of fresh chilli without being asked.  The food was good - very tasty.  Definitely worth a second visit.
Tobin Zorz
Great food. So tasty. Chicken Hofun Soup. Has such a nice punch and aroma to such a clear looking soup. And the green tea tastes special as well. Enjoyed! Go get some.
Lachlan J
I checked out Viet Hoa with my girlfriend after seeing that it was often busy. We ordered the Beef and Beef Ball Pho and the Roast Duck Egg Noodle Soup. The pho was lighter in flavour than what we usually prefer, and the meat was rare and tender. Overall, a solid Pho, but not memorable. The Roast Duck Egg Noodle Soup was the better of the two dishes, especially the soup which was ever so tasty. The duck was decent, but slightly on the dry side. Taking into account value for money, Viet Hoa is excellent, but about average when accounting just for the food.
Sophley
The service here is so atrocious but Viet Hoa is not about service.. it's about cheap cheerful meals in a seriously casual setting. The Pho Tai is always great and while the restaurant itself needs an extreme decor makeover the food is what the people come for.. I wouldn't bank on being impressed by anything else.
Evonne
Tasty pho and broken rice. The wanton soup/chicken broth is way too salty though. Great range of specialty drinks. The decor leaves a lot to be desired. Great for a cheap, satisfying, super casual get-together with friends.. not a place for romantic dates.
Jade Dolman
I have timed how ling it takes for the food to come out from the time I place my order and record is 2 minutes. My favourite noodle soups in town.
Venusandgraham
I have been regular customer since the 1990's, and its the first time ive been disappointed !<br/><br/>The quality of food, the speed of delivery to the table is unmatched, and the price just completes the cheap night out.<br/><br/>However, tonight was a glitch on the radar, with the roast duck full of bones and dry and  MY FAVOURITE, the bun bo xao (#40) dipping sauce was obviously out of date...ewww.<br/><br/> This place is a budget priced-quality food, establishment, with 1980's decor and slightly lower house cleaning standards than your average pub. <br/>Grubby mouldy walls, dirty air conditioner outlets and greasy tables are "par for the course" of finding a low cost, high calibre eating experience! <br/><br/>Just put your rose coloured glasses on when glimpsing the the surroundings!
Inners
I've been coming here for over 15 years. Always great food at a decent prices. This is the perfect spot for a quick feed with the family. The service is always quick and entres arrive within 5 minutes.
Sybarite
This place makes my skin crawl. It's filthy. They must only bother cleaning the kitchen and nowhere else as the place is packed so clearly no one is worried about food poisoning. Or customer service. If you want cheap food in a hurry and nothing else, come here. If you want to make pleasant conversation with the staff in a beautiful setting, keep walking.
Veevee
Great, affordable dining. The vermicelli salad is always a winner at Viet Hoa- you cannot go wrong. Chicken curry is also a favorite of mine. Chicken sweet corn soup is tasty.
Pedro
If you were coming here for the decor, you'd be very disappointed - simple & outdated sums it up. I go to Viet Hoa for the food & service, both of which are exceptional. Perfect rice, delicious roast duck, awesome soups, and all at very reasonable prices. Worth a look if you're after good food!

The best vietnamese I've had in Perth. <br/>Fast and efficient.<br/>Even tho they are in north bridge i still rather drive there because I know its always good.
Chihiro
My favourite Vietnamese place in town , very good value for money for the quality of food served!<br/>The place is always full lunch and dinner sometimes u have to wait to get the table but when u seated and order the food come out very quickly ! My favourite dish is hofan rice noodle soup with prawns and pork !!😋😋😋
Mango
One of the best cheap eats in Northbridge. Pho is delicious and worth the extra 5 minutes of walk and wait. Waitresses are attentive and quick. Been eating here since 2012. One of the places I will recommend off top of my head if you like pho and Vietnamese cuisine.
Patty Flinders
On the 5th of October me and my family decided to go out for dinner thinking to try something different. We went to Northbridge and following our sister suggestion we bumped into Viet Hoa! Despite it was a Monday once we entered the restaurant we had to wait 5 minutes before to be seated as it was full.<br/><br/>Looking at the pale pictures on the menu and at the neglected decor I was wondering about my dinner, then eventually I opted for a traditional plate of dry noodles with bbq chicken and a white nuts drink.<br/><br/>Drinks were served in less than 5 minutes, and the dinner arrived after 10 more minutes notwithstanding the amount of people in the house, we were quite surprised! The white nuts juice was DELICIOUS even though half of it was just some kind of a hard jelly, and the meal was presented in a MASSIVE plate with a side of a tasty lemongrass soup and complimentary Chinese hot tea!!! At the end of the dinner everyone was really full and happy and the flavor of each dish was authentic and well balanced!<br/><br/>The customer service wasn’t very impressive but the value was just GREAT as well as the timing, so we’ll definitely be back!!

Vietnamese food is my vice. I love it a lot! I've been to quite a few Vietnamese places in Perth and still on the prowl for greater ones.<br/><br/>Viet Hoa isn't one of my favouritest. But how can I argue with the huge portions and affordable price? I always share my portions! Nevertheless, the one thing that I reckon they do the best is their Vietnamese iced white coffee. It has got kick and will raise your heart rate just slightly. It is sweet but I recommend that you let the ice melt somewhat to dilute it. But if you are like me, just chug it down and enjoy the effects.
Teebo
Pre drinks dinners are a god send, and Viet Hoa does it better than most. This big corner dining room has been feeding the masses for years and is right up there with my favourite cheap and cheerful's around. The menu is extensive but we know what's good and ordered the San choi boa to start, and the beef pho, bunni chow and the chicken chow mein. All dishes had great flavours. The BYO option is what it's all about cause let's be honest, the room is a little tired. Definately recommend for a cheap pre drinking feed.
Foodlover
Honestly, doesn't matter what the food taste like, <br/>with the way they taste their customers (Asian customers)<br/>Theres no way I'll be coming back. <br/>Overall just rude and unfriendly. <br/>and the place just feel and look so dirty.<br/>food wise- it was ok. not that I can't find somewhere else.
Deborah Archer
The food is ok unfortunately there is no love here. Very tired and dirty room so tends to bring everything down. My husband had nice hofun mixed noodle my soup was not good meant to be seafood but tasted very porky broth! Couldn't eat it. Wait staff couldn't manage a smile so little love here it's such a pity
Lily Liew
I've been coming to Viet Hoa since I was a little girl, it has always been my favourite Vietnamese restaurant for Pho and Pork Chop Rice and I never leave feeling unsatisfied! Fast service, quality is consistent and pricing is pretty reasonable.
GeeFood
Love this place! I've been here countless times and the food has never dissapointed. My favorites are the stuffed chicken wings, king prawns, and pretty much all of their noodle soups. So much still yet to try. Such good value for money, also byo drinks is a plus!
Gabrielle Trenbath
Viet Hoa is not fancy but the food is nice for the price. It is a good place to visit if you want to share a meal with friends that won’t cost a fortune. If you want somewhere that is swanky and opulent then Viet Hoa is not a place for you.
JO
Such good Vietnamese food for very cheap prices. There is so much variety available and so it took forever to decide what to eat! I had the Hainanese Chicken and it was very tasty and cooked well!
Alfred
Been there a few times and still love their roasted duck. The service is average. The carpet floor is a bit dirty. However, considering the pricing and food, it's still a recommended Vietnamese eating house.
Foodlover
Excellent pho, quick staff and busy restaurant. Sometimes due to busy periods staff mix up orders or in a big group some people get their dishes within 10 mins and another person 40 mins later. Anyway cheap eat out
Peter Koong
I don't really understand the poor reviews because this place is great. Viet Hoa is a restaurant which is very oriental in nature. The staff will respond to you if you wave your hand at them. They will explain to you what is in each dish, and you can ask them to omit certain ingredients from your meal if you wish. The reason you go to this place is for the food, it isn't a place for dining. The food comes out quick and hot. It's very delicious and filling with their large portion sizes.<br/><br/>I've been here many, many times. My favourites are the Phnom Penh Hofan Soup and the Pork Chop with Broken Rice. This is always a regular place of mine and I wouldn't dream of not coming again.
OnePointFive
Only been here twice, both experiences were bad . Really don't want to go back if I don't have to. I seriously don't know why people like to eat at this restaurant when Lido or Tra Vinh are way better. <br/>Food: poor quality.<br/>Service: bad.<br/>Venue: filthy<br/>
Cindy Estrada
One of the best dining places for those craving for some Vietnamese cuisine. Meals are huge servings at a great price. The place is always jam-packed with customers wanting hot soup and this uptown resto definitely offers tasty hot sips of soup with fresh rice noodles and flavorsome ingredients.
Occasionalist
Not a fan of their pho. The clear soup base was distinctly full of the smell of masala and cinnamon ... Why? Why do you do this? Must've been an off day.
Rikki Burns
When I was 17 a boy took me here on our first date. Afterwards we went tenpin bowling, because that's what you did before Facebook was invented. He put our names into the scoring computer, but instead of writing his name, he wrote 'I LUV U'. I broke up with him the next day.
Chris
Service is not what I come to these places for and neither should you. I want my food fast and plenty of it and thats what this place does time and time again. I am always amazed how fast the food gets to the table and how full I am when i leave... Good place
Michelle Yvonne
Bad service and bland food, I only go for the pho but don't bother with the rest. The pho is really well priced, good serving size and tasty. The rest of the food I've tried, like the satay, black bean chicken or sweet and sour, is watery and not very flavoursome in my opinion. I find the service rude and pushy.
MF
Very good reasonably priced Vietnamese restaurant  the soups are fantastic especially the braised duck soup - as are the home made iced teas!<br/>Service was a little less attentive and slower than usual tonight <br/>Food tasted as good as ever and the price is right<br/><br/>Returned and agree with what I wrote above
Cat Erpiller
Brilliant Pho Tai Bo Vien takeaway. Noodles, raw beef, scallions, bean spouts and beef balls packaged separately to the broth.  Beef balls packed full of flavour, no gristle and delightfully springy, fresh, tender raw beef, noodles perfectly al dente- best Pho broth I've had in Perth. delicate, flavoursome and perfectly seasoned. Brilliant for a takeaway pho option.  I'm sure it's stunning in house.  Friendly, humble service and a lovely bunch Aussie Vietnamese folk working there, 10 minutes on the dot for my order as promised. Highly recommended.
JC
This restaurant is in my top 5 always been a favourite of mine - I would recommend booking a table if a group of you are going on Friday or Saturday
LittleGirlBigFood
Best hangover cure in town. Spicy pho with prawn dumplings. With extra chilli sauce. Swear it out. Fast service and cheap prices. 12.50 for a soup and only 20 mins of your life.
Gabrielle Trenbath
I went on Saturday night and it was super busy but our pho came out super quickly and it was delicious!<br/><br/>Look, this place is super cheap but the food is honest and delicious so if you want sliver service, this place is not for you!!

I had lunch here with my sister today and I have to say, we didn't love it.  I have eaten here before and it's always satisfied but today it missed the mark.  It was really busy so clearly I am in the minority but it just didn't live up to my expectations. <br/><br/>Ordered the satay beef skewers, the roast duck noodles and the pork and spring roll noodle salad. <br/><br/>The beef was thinly sliced and smothered in a coconut and peanut butter sauce. The meat was quite tough and chewy and the sauce was quite heavy.  The sauce once cooled was thick and congealed so the third skewer was given a miss. <br/><br/>The noodles were in a light broth with lettuce and other Asian vegetables floating amongst it all.  Nice but a bit bland. The duck was ok but lacking a lot of meat and I think it could've been crispier.  My salad was ok but it missed on the flavour.  The spring rolls had a lot of white pepper inside and were overpowering the rest of the filling. <br/><br/>It was alright but I won't be rushing back.

Best and fastest service in Perth. We first visited Viet Hoa a couple of weeks ago and tonight was our third visit. We have tried and loved the combination laksa and roast duck & egg noodle soup. The entrees are superb and amazing value for money. The hot fried squid with plum sauce, stuffed chicken wings, spring rolls and marinated beef skewers are all extremely tasty, hot, fresh and satisfying. The pineapple shake was super milky and delicious. Overall we can't get enough! An old Perth faithful but a new favourite for us. Cheapest and yummiest eats in Perth!
Gabrielle Trenbath
I had the braised duck with egg noodles and it was lovely and the dick was cooked to perfection. <br/><br/>The restaurant was packed and the staff were flat out but we didn't have to wait long for our pho to come out.
Lewis Robertson
Great food but the watermelon was a little floury!
Triona Mc Cann
Hainese Chicken Rice. Hai Nam Chicken & Rice...delicious and great value for money...kick-ass nuoc cham sauce...Ginger, garlic, chilli, sweet and spicy, broth is delicate and herby, chicken breast tender and rice delish!

Already addicted. I came here with some friends a month ago and loved it so much I dragged my hubby back to try it again a few weeks later.<br/><br/>The menu is overwhelming with choice so I played it safe with a Combination Laksa, which was delicious! <br/><br/>Portions are huge - everyone I've eaten with here has struggled to finish their dinner and we had complimentary green tea. It was inexpensive as well - 7 of us ate a satisfyingly large meal here for $96 . In Perth? Unheard of!<br/><br/>Service was fast. Restaurant was packed both times I've been here with a line of people outside eagerly awaiting their turn for a delicious meal.<br/><br/>I will be back!
Robyn
Love love LOVE this place. Viet Hoa is my default place for delicious food, great service, and at a good price. <br/><br/>Everything on the menu is amazing, but some of my personal favourites are a combination noodle soup, anything with the duck, hot pots, damn it is all good.<br/><br/>Never had a disappointing meal.<br/><br/>On a scale of 1-10, Viet Hoa is an 11

Speedy and Great. Viet Hoa is always great for a quick bite to eat. Service is speedy and food always great. <br/>BYO which is also plus ++
Marieslats
Not impressed. I had the wonton egg noodle soup and I liked the broth and noodles but I only got 2 wontons and the chicken slices looked like processed meat. I also ordered the chicken lemongrass and chilli, again the chicken was not breast meat and even had left over feather roots. The sauce was very artificial and shiny I didn't eat it. Very disappointing, will not be returning.

Always good. Totally love this place, cheap, cheerful and good food.<br/><br/><br/>-----15 Dec, 2014-----<br/><br/>Stewed Beef Hofan Noodle Soup. Just yum!

Got to love this place. Simple decor and no frills service but delicious food at a very low price. Can't argue with that. And it's always packed, which says it all really.
Angry_cat86
Great food, poor service. Food consistently delicious, pity about the rude service.
Madi
Cons: poor service, devote leaves much to be desired<br/>Pros: lots of choice on the menu! Fresh and tasty food, authentic, good atmosphere at night

Food was really fresh and super tasty. Although the decor leaves much to be desired this place serves fantastic food.

Great viet restaurant. Great food and service.<br/><br/>Very authentic.<br/><br/>Urban spoon rating is spot on.<br/><br/>8.5/10

Rare and cooked beef pho. Pretty good but our favourite is a few doors down :-)
Sarah
Love love love this place. Don't go for service or peaceful dining - go for the tastiest Vietnamese food on that strip. God damn that's some tasty pho.
YuMMM.com
So so. I didn't mind it but the food was very average (maybe just what we ordered). Not sure how they do it so quick, especially when it was totally packed. Service was ok, but didn't expect much anyway. Will give it another go and try something different before passing judgement. I like that it was BYO.
Ray
They had the audacity to charge $5 for a broken wine glass which shattered when I put it down. I lost my $50/bottle glass of wine and had glass in my food and then they very abruptly said 'we charge you $5 for breaking our glass.' Not impressed
Artiom Moscaliov
Average/poor.... Nothing special, cold meat in luke warm broth, pork in soup had strange taste as if its gone off... forgot to put noodles into soup. Many better places on same street.
Sez
We come here for one thing, and that is the hainese chicken rice. Hubby absolutely loves it. Great value, always tasty, just be aware service lacks big time.
Adam Co
Had a late night visit to Viet Hoa. as much as the setting was a little bland the food well and truly made up for it.. Large selection on the menu and the food was delicious, I had the combination laksa and my partner had the prawn and chicken soup. Very generous serve with tones of flavour. We will defiantly be back again.
Natasha Elizabeth
If this restaurant was a person I would confess my love to it- via an urbanspoon review.. Kinda like right now. <br/>Except I wouldn't do that to an actual person. So it's lucky that you are a restaurant.<br/>Ps best chili lemongrass tofu
Kelly Iannello
Great Food (but dont come here for Service). Always enjoy the food here! Be prepared for minimal service and possible wait for a table though.<br/><br/>You order, the food comes out, that's it. If you need cutlery rather than chopsticks ask at the beginning.<br/><br/>Vietnamese spring rolls, satay sticks and the boneless stuffed chicken wings are a family favourite. Combination Laksa and Pho come out piping hot, absolutely delicious. Recommend either a soup to share and some mains, or just the soup. Very filling for around $12. For mains the honey king prawns, Viet Hoa Hot Beef, and the combination noodles are favourites again.<br/><br/>Go for the excellent food, don't expect good service!

Poor service but the food was pretty good!

Used to drop in a lot until they jacked the prices,I miss the tofu and minced chicken but I have cracked the code on that recipe and prefer to make it myself with enough change for a few beers
Auschow
Fantastic food, with amazing flavors, the waitress was very polite

Not as good as it used to be. Went there for lunch today<br/>Won't be going back<br/>Only ok dish was the fried rice with chicken and salted fish<br/>Can get much better for less in other places in north bridge<br/>Very disappointed ;(
Alexa Crupoene
Disgusting!. Probably the most disgusting vietnamese food i have ever had the unfortounate experiance in eating. i went with friends and spent over $100. it was cheap and distasteful. we literay all left half of our food. it tasted like it was from a packet. dont go here!
Jen Bagust
Love this place so cheap so good recommend #35! Don't expect heaps from service but still delicious!

What happened to the standards. I used to frequent Viet Hoa a lot, when I lived in Northbridge. Since moving I do not go as often so it was my first time in about 6 months.<br/><br/>The curried Vegetables my GF had was the most tasteless disgusting curry I have ever had. We were shocked. We tried to speak to the staff about it but they did not seem to care at all.<br/><br/>We left in the end without finishing. We will never ever return as we found better Vietnamese restaurants in the area.
GF Girl Foodie
GlutenFreeFoodie: Good & bad.... As a Pho loving gluten free customer, most Vietnamese restaurants are accommodating and use the traditional methods...<br/>Non GF laksa, rice paper rolls and beef satay were good. The wanton soup was overrun with coriander.<br/> Unfortunately according to one of the many waitresses I asked (and i asked about 5,each passing me over to the next) this one adds soy sauce to ALL the broth, ALL the meat, and I was offered one menu item- the ginger bean curd.<br/>I ended up with a 'gluten free' No40, braised beef with vermicelli-one of my favourites-but could or be guaranteed the 'rice noodles' weren't a wheat mix.<br/>Great atmosphere, but service not up to scratch and difficult to order.
Eileen Sung
Standard has dropped. Ordered the pho and prawn dumpling soup. Both were so salty tat we could not eat them. 8 ppl, we had to ask separate times for bowls, spoons, chopsticks, etc. it was early in the evening, and not tat busy, so can't understand why service was poor.
AJ
Never disappoints. Viet Hoa is our family Sunday night dinner location and it never disappoints. We regularly get soups, but have tried a variety of dishes on the menu and have enjoyed all of them. The roast duck, and the pork and wonton soup are a couple of our favourites. We keep coming back for the food (not for the ambience or service). It does get busy and you’ll likely have to queue if you don’t have a booking.
Michelle Hiding
Viet Hoa. In years gone by this use to be a very reliable noodle house.<br/> . Not anymore. I found the meals flavorless and bland I'm sorry to say. The value is not there anymore.
Natalie Van Der Burg
This place has been a family favourite for years...<br/><br/>When we dine here, we always struggle to order anything different because we lllllooovvveeee eating the usual of: Fried rice, rice paper roll with prawn only, seafood egg noodle dry and sometimes the lamb chops and/or the stuffed chicken... Mmmmm... Yummy...
Kjm
Totally rude service!! Waitresses just completely ignore the customer when they want to place an order!
Pablo Francisco
So good! been a regular to this restaurant ever since my dad took me there 6 years ago. very nice food, probably the best asian cuisine in northbridge at a very affordable price. their soups (especially beef wanton soup) are delicious. as well as their main dishes, all very good. food always comes out very speedy. customer service could probably be a bit more friendly but seriously guys i could not give a stuff, you don't come here for the service. come here for a very affordable (even a uni student can afford) meal which is absolutely gorgeous.

My experience in Viet Hoa. I went there today and this is my experience in Viet Hoa.<br/><br/>We went as a group of 8, found seats relatively quickly and ordered our food. I went for one of the rice dishes. The venue was quite full and we were prepared to wait a bit for our food.<br/><br/>Around about 30 minutes later the first dish arrived and the rest arrived in a span of about 20 minutes, all except mine. It took another 30 minutes before my dish would arrive at the table and by then everyone had finished eating and were waiting on me to finish. <br/><br/>But before that, I've tried multiple times to ask the waiters if they could check on my order but all they did was mumble something barely audible and walk past you. Some wouldn't even acknowledge you even though they could clearly see you. Finally after trying multiple times, one took the time to stop for a second to hear what I had to say but you could tell that he was being extremely impatient.<br/><br/>So, the food finally arrives and I'm eager to start eating but my day in Viet Hoa could only get worse. My rice dish came with a bowl of soup on the side and after the waiter set the rice on the table he spilled the soup over my right arm and leg giving me painful burns. I quickly went to the toilet to run it over some cold water and when I got back the waiter didn't even apologized. He just looked at me with a confused look as if I was the cause of the spill and went about his business. <br/><br/>I didn't want to make a scene or to have my meal for free but the least they could do was apologize and ask if I was alright because he did spill steaming hot soup over a customer. <br/><br/>So, if you don't mind having something to eat before coming to Viet Hoa and waiting long enough for yourself to get hungry again or to be served by rude, impatient and lack luster waiters then by all means dine in at Viet Hoa.
K
Great & Good Value! :D. Always full of people, great food, fairly good quick service :)
Baristagal
Still yummy and fast. I had bean curd with chillie and lemongrass. So good! It came out really fast too.Chillie was the perfect heat, and there were nice big bits of red capsicum throughout.
May Mich
Yeah! it's got good fried chicken red rice! my vietnamese food cravings orient around the red rice, pho & vermicelli. most places offer pho & vermicelli, but this one's got good fried chicken red rice! the fact that it's packed with asians says something~
Iloveaioli
NEVER COMING BACK! We were .... NEVER COMING BACK!<br/>We were planning on going to this place for over a month since we always used to see this place crowded. Last Friday we went for dinner and oh dear, so disappointing! My veggies satay and rice were warm, boyfriend dish was revolting! . Service was rude! And you have your own audience looking at you while waiting for a table.<br/>Def never coming back! Lido is 1000% nicer and friendly service!
Kencho
Went for a lunch on a sat, we ordered fresh spring rolls - lacked flavour & pork chop with broken rice, not too bad, chicken curry shocking, a tiny drumstick chopped up with meat cleaver no chicken just sharp dangerous bone you could choke on cut up in small pieces. What the..... Definitely wont be back not worth $$ surprised the place is packed some nights! Disappointed as we thought we might go there often.
Hayden36
Great food. With Viet Hoa, diners need to look past the dated interior and the staff, who may come across as rude (travelling through Vietnam and Asia in general, service is much the same). The food here is fantastic and cheap. It comes out quick and hot and is with out a doubt one of the better value for money establishments in Northbridge.
Wisatakuliner
Average Viet food. This restaurant always busy, but for us who travelled to Vietnam find it average. You can get much better Viet food elsewhere. Sweet lip service is uncommon in any genuine Asian restaurants even in Asia except those that are frequented by mostly westerners.
Simba
Tasty Food. Went for dinner and arrived at a good time as 10 minutes later there was a line and it went out the door as all tables were full. The place is a bit rough/dated, could do with a major makeover nonetheless the staff are very friendly, fast and efficient, the food was delicious i will defiantly return and recommend to all if you can look past the restaurant itself being rough/dated.
FoodLover
I love the duck & noodles (dry). Goood noodles!!!!! I come here when im in need of some VIETNAMESE NOODLES & DUCK!! YUMMAYYY
Chica
Cheap and cheerful. Awesome for a quick bite to eat food and service prompt, cafeteria style dining but thats all part of the appeal - a Northbridge institution. We always go the san cho bow and rice paper pork and prawn rolls to start, then follow it up with po thai, duck egg noddle soup (dry) or bun bo xao.
Shankala
Didn't know better. I haven't been to this establishment ever since my Vietnamese friends recommended me other authentic Vietnamese food in and around Northbridge.
JamesP
Great Soup. Stopped here today for lunch, after consulting Urbanspoon (we ate at Lido last night which was quite good). The two of us both had soups, a combination laksa & wonton soup. Both were very good, probably one of the best compared to various places interstate. The place is very basic, certainly nothing flash, buts ervice was good & meals came quickly (2pm on a sunday afternoon) This will definately be a place we will be eating at regularly while in perth.
Kat Ahlers
Beautiful fresh produce used!!!! Unreal prices!! The place is very cluttered and loud but who cares when the food is so wicked!!! Yum
Contessa.Eats
Never wrote a review before, but after dinner, I felt compelled to. This restaurant is bad. Would definitely not be going back at all.
Ben
Underwhelming. Food and service pretty underwhelming. Won't be in a hurry to return
Roelien Van Biljon
Great soups!. I visit viet hoa about once a month, when im craving one of their divine soups or the amazing stuffed chicken wings. definately worth a try.
Tess Kathleen
Always worth the treck:) The atmosphere might not be the best nor the waiteresses but for the quality of food and the price how could you complain. We always order the fried squid and stuffed chicken wings for entree and are always tempted to get more. I'm always debating whether to order the prawn dumpling soup, seafood Laksa or the roast duck noodle soup. They are all really yummy!! Try and book if you can or go there early because it is always packed!
Jennifersilverii
Love! Every time I go the food is amazing.
Grace Weaver
Been going here since I was a kid!. So this restaurant i've been coming to with my family and now friends for a very long time. It looks deceiving from the outside- not very trendy or appealing. But once you see the menu and how fast they bring out the food. It is great!! Always get the prawn salad- so refreshing! It is a must! The place is usually packed on a Saturday but never had to wait for a table, not once!! Highly Recommended!
Amy Thomas
Good, authentic Vietnamese food, very good service, free tea yay! Can never get in though! It's always so busy!
Don't Mind If I Do
Still going strong. Great reputation, the place still heaves with people, mainly westerners on the weekend. Food was good but made us really thirsty so wondered about MSG content? Still good value for money.
Melissa Yeung
Getting more and more expensive. I've been eating there every year and realised their prices have been increasing at least $1 to $2 every year. I think now, it's definitely not value for money. I would rather go somewhere else with same quality with cheaper price.
Nicholas Lee
Best!. Viet Hoa has gotta be the hardest working restaurant in Perth! I've been a customer there for at least a decade if not more (since the Uni days.) Never will you find a restaurant open almost every single day of the year from morning till night. Their food is not the best vietnemese in town but what I like the most is the consistency which never dissappoints if you have a sudden craving. Yes on the odd occaison I find their Beef Pho can be a bit bland, and service standards have dropped a bit too. In my opinion, still the best no-fuss cheap/healthy eatery in Perth.
Evezz
Love the food!! The yumminess make me craving for their food in my pregnancy. Ive been there at least 3x a week n need to travel 40 minutes just for the pnom penh noodle soup. The owner was friendly n nice. Sometimes it's hard to get attention from the waitresses, so it's better to not eat there on the busy hours.
Bricky84
Viet Hoa - Northbridge. Went to Viet Hoa last night, 20th July 2012, was seated quickly and food was out quickly. Entrees of spring rolls, samosas and rice paper rolls, were all excellent. Rice paper rolls at $8 for 2 seemed a bit expensive, but they were lovely.<br/><br/>Mains were seafood laksa, wanton soup and beef, braised combination and steamed rice and fried rice with chicken and salted fish....all under $15 and all great food.<br/><br/>Interior is pretty bland, but is a nice place to get some good hearty Vietnamese for a good price.
Food_Hole
Fast and delicious every time. The noodle soup dishes are highly recommended. Service could be friendlier but they deal with masses of people, I'd be grumpy too!
Jay Martin
Great food - often packed and there's a reason. My tip: crispy fried noodles with sea food. Yum!
Jeanette Maddison
We regularly visit for yummy inexpensive food. Our children are always well received and catered for, we never leave hungry and I have day dreams about their dumplings. Thanks Viet Hoa for providing great food for a reasonable price
Ben
Great Pho. I alway come to Viet Hoa for lunch on a sat or sunday and order Rare beef Pho, its just the best I have had so far in Northbridge.<br/>Why is it so busy well lunch its alway packed its a good sign, never been for dinner so can't comment.<br/><br/>servings are pretty good. Have tried a few others places but I always come back to this place
AGrace
I come all the way from Fremantle to north bridge for this place! Delicious!
Lara Bloxham
Best Vietnamese restaurant ever!! Awesome prices, quick service, bonus BYO. I've eaten here too many time to remember and would recommend the BBQ pork wonton egg noodle dry. Add the sauces from the tables and it taste a million dollars!!
MissPicky
Very cheap. Needless to say that means the quality and presentation were 3rd rate. I brought my friends there on a whim and regretted it ever since. This is NOT a good place to go if you're trying to impress someone. Not happy.<br/><br/>If I had to describe Viet Hoa in one word: Regrettable
Gordon Milne
Best noodle soup or laksa we've found in town and great value
Miss EggsBenny
Amazing!. Oh my god so cheap, everything was fresh, even the noodles were made from scratch! you cant go wrong....the restaurant is like a classroom but who cares when ur eating amazing traditional vietnamese! yummmmm
Oscar
Disappointed. Tasted like kantong jar sauce all 4 dishes.
Timsee
USED TO BE GREAT- NOW...... Another one bites the dust... We have been going here on and off since they opened many years ago and sadly we wont be going back again. Chilli Lemongrass Chicken @ I think $19.50 with powdered lemongrass and powdered chilli? It tasted like cheap Food Court food. All our dishes were poorly constructed imitations of the real thing, shame on you Viet Hoa, did you think nobody would notice? Just because your cook leaves does not mean you cannot train the new cook. So many resturants have no quality control whatsoever. One a brighter note the entrees Spring rolls and Stuffed Chicken Wings were all OK but not good enough to make us come back again. Sorry Viet Hoa
Andrew
Always great. Love Viet Hoa. This is one place that is all about the food. Seafood Laksa is a winner, and service is prompt and friendly.
Seb
Affordable and great quality food, we have been coming to this place for the past couple of years and have never been disappointed.
Masterchef
Saturday night & it took 20minutes to be seated..... But worth the wait!!!!!! It was heaving with people :))))) Food was fast, fresh & oh so YUM!!!!!
Sarah Scott
I love this place. Food is always good and comes out quick. Try the hofan stewed beef noodle soup.... beautiful. Cheap, cheerful and clean.
Daniella De Pretis
Fave restaurant. Its not the best food, or the nicest looking restaurant, but for the price you pay and the servings you get it has become my favourite restaurant in Perth! Its always consistent
Jbaby
Delicious!. What this restaurant lacks in decor it more than makes up for in food. I have been here about 6 times now and have always had great meals. The service is really quick and we have never waited longer than 10 mins for our meals to be brought out. The restaurant itself looks appalling and reminds me of a school canteen but luckily the food is AMAZING and priced really well. We always look forward to eating here!
Jack
Nice. We've been visiting this restaurant for ~ 14 years it's been consistently great for a fast office workers lunch, 45 minutes and your back to the office with time to spare, friendly, tasty and terrific.<br/><br/>To us it's is a landmark, I won't tell you it's the best food we've ever eaten, but we really do appreciate Viet Hoa, and if we ever find they are just too busy, we can't easily walk away and go else where. We often drive (~20km's) across town just for a lovely lunch date... and we love it.<br/><br/>Yes - sometimes you may have to queue if you're a walk up, but man that queue moves fast, and overall the number of people moving through there shows just how good and popular this restaurant is.<br/><br/>Some might thing of this as HJ's of Asian restaurants, but they serve you at the table, they are prompt and spot on for service, yes it's not the RITZ, so airs and graces, (which aren't really required in my book), I just want to order a nice meal and within 7 to 14 minutes it's on your table - YUMMM.<br/><br/>Price is more than reasonable.<br/><br/>I can recommend this restaurant for singles, couples, families and groups, they are perfect.<br/><br/>The food is not too heavy and you will feel satisfied without spending a fortune.
Some Guy
Charming. If the owners of Viet Hoa read the negative reviews here and changed accordingly it would lose everything that makes it great.<br/><br/>If you don't want surly staff, food coming out at the same time and too much noise then keep driving. If you want a restaurant with plenty of SE Asian charm and character with a great selection of noodle soups, then you're in luck. <br/><br/>I hope this place never changes.
Kyle
Only problem is when you order a starter they dont wait to bring out your mains
Optimus Prime
Worst customer service ever !. Grumpy owner, waitresses who do not know how to frame a sentence in English - forget about asking them about ingredients, tweaks.
Rebecca
Brilliant food. Can't speak highly enough of the food here: I've had a bunch of things and it's always delicious and very reasonably priced. I need to remember to go back more often.
Holly Doll
Not Impressed Much. I dont know what all the buzz is about with this place, I have been a handful of times and it is always packed and I dont know why.<br/><br/>The staff are extreamly rude, they rush you when ordering and make you feel very exposed there when you are trying to have a conversation and eat, and the food is very very average!<br/><br/>I dont like going back, but so many others want to try or hey love it. Each to their own I guess, but I will always try and miss it.
AsiaPacific
No second chances. I can't say the atmosphere of the place is very pleasant. Sure, the food is cheap but it was lacking in flavour and quality. My family was complaining the whole time we were there. I will make sure not to make the mistake of coming back.
Jonathan
Low price and low quality. I must say it is cheap but the quality is revolting. I don't want to sound like a horrible person but I would rather eat somewhere else.
Angela
Busy busy busy. This place is always Busy... for some reasons... i mean... the food is good but not the best... likewise with the service... and the price as well. <br/><br/>i would probabli rank this the 3rd or 4th best vietnamese restaurant in Northbridge<br/><br/>i would always choose tra vinh over this place tho.
Perth Eater
Easy Cheap Meal. Great for a group of friends. I used to go here quite allot as a uni student as you could bring your own alcohol have a cheap meal and stumble into northbridge and still enjoy a meal here every now an again. Cheap good food and always fast service. You do not come here for fine dining. Its always busy and a little bit hectic but you always seem to get seated and served quite quickly, you can BYO alcohol and enjoy a cheap meal with friends.
Jen
Good value and fast. The food and service are below standard. However, we pay what we get.
Terrine De Lapin
Do not try anything that resembles Chinese here. Just stick to the Viet staples...this is what they do best.<br/><br/><br/>-----05 Sep, 2011-----<br/><br/>Food still nice & fresh. Noodle soups really satisfy. Very busy as usual, even for a Monday
BettyCrocker
Prawn wonton soup and the cooked beef pho were pretty bland and the stock/broth seemed really watered down. Very little flavour<br/><br/>go to Pho Vinh Hong instead. No cue and much more flavoursome noodle soups.
Natalie Tierney
A bit lacking.... I think it needs to be said - Viet Hoa is in need of a bit of a re-vamp. I used to come here frequently, especially in my student days, and even though I was younger and a bit tight with the dollar, I definitely remember that the food was better.<br/><br/>A and I went to Viet Hoa for a casual Wednesday night dinner. We weren't looking for anything fancy, otherwise we would've gone elsewhere. Even so, we were both really disappointed by the quality of the food served to us.<br/><br/>Our first order of the evening was the entrees. We decided to go for the classic fried spring rolls and Vietnamese rice paper rolls with pork and prawn. The fried spring rolls were good, however the rice paper rolls were hard on the outside, and really rough to break apart. The filling didn't taste fresh and all in all, was a huge let down.<br/><br/>For my main, I ordered my favourite dish - the combination laksa. Now, I know this isn't typically Vietnamese but I have loved this dish for years and will continue to order it wherever I find it. Viet Hoa's rendition was quite tasty and wasn't overly disappointing. The rice however that I ordered as a side dish was dry and rubbery. It wasn't fresh and was a sad version of fluffy, Asian rice.<br/><br/>My partner ordered one of the "specialities of the house" - the boneless roast duck stir-fried with snow peas. It's understandable if there is a bit of fat on duck when you order it, however this dish consisted mostly of fat and its skin. The meat ratio was quite behind what was on the plate in terms of fat. It wasn't worthy of the $18.50 price tag and was quite basic in flavour. At the end of the night, I was quite disappointed with the food and its lack of fresh, quality ingredients.<br/><br/>The service has always been a bit lacking however you don't really go here for the service or atmosphere. Ultimately, you venture to Viet Hoa for the cheap, yummy meals. <br/><br/>We didn't get either. Will be a while before we return, as there are other lovely Vietnamese venues close by who take more of a concern into what they are providing customers.
The Contessa
Never had a bad meal here. We bring our visitors to Perth here for a meal too. Ingredients always fresh and tasty.
Out And About
I have been to Vietnam and although I did not expect a total pound for pound replication in food authenticity, I was at the very least expecting quality. <br/><br/>I thought the noodles in this place lacked quality and food were just churned out quickly without much love. They seemed compromised and fell short compared to some other local Vietnamese restaurants in Perth and Melbourne, let alone Vietnam. <br/><br/>In my opinion, the food quality in this place is on a down-hill slide. I was once a fan... but not anymore. Not until Viet Hoa picks up its game in quality of ingredients and autenticity.
JVG23
9/10 - Drove past this area last week & nearly every place packed. Chose this restaurant due to being chokers. Wise choice. The place is run down & needs more than a lick of paint but fast meal/drink service. Flavours outstanding. Overall great experience & recommend
Babe
I used to like this restaurant, but recently tried and very disappointed..they changed the noodle to cheaper qaulity as well as the seafood becomes not fresh anymore..guessing there is a cutting cost kind of thing happening but then you lose me, won't recommend to my friends anymore and I won't come back.
Bigtummy
This place is awful, bland and is second rate Asian food. Bad service bad atmosphere! Wouldn't go back.
K
Popularity killed the Pho. I used to head here quite often, the queues are a good sign. It's not a bad pick for <br/>Northbridge but there are better executed Vietnamese dishes within a hundred meters. The shabby interior never bothered me (added character) but there are cleaner places. Still drives the hoards but is it the best?
Chiipmunk
Viet Hoa. The Roast Duck Egg Noodle soup is my favourite.<br/><br/>Oh and the pork and prawn rice paper rolls are yummo too!
Chef Mlo
Always full. Perhaps there's a reason it's always full. Acceptable and generous food for a low price. Viet Hoa is cheap and cheerful. Seriously, where else in Perth could you get entree AND main course for two for under $40? Sure, pay more and there is better around (the corner such as Phi Yen) but for the price, it's excellent value.
Perth_local_eats
Always a favourite. Fast service, amazing food and cheap prices. Highly recommended!!
Natasha
Great food and prices.makes eating out with family affordable.we had just visited Vietnam so we were missing the food ,and it's really authentic in Viet hoa.
Mztiff
Better Viet places out there. I haven't been to Viet Hoa for years as i remember it being run down with really average food. Went the other day with some mates and it seems like nothing has changed. The service was terrible, the food isn't great, you're better off taking a 2 minute walk down to Lido or around the corner to Tra Vinh.
Jonas
Superfast service, consistently great food and amazingly cheap in an expensive town.
Raccoon
An oldie but a goodie. Hmm. I always order the lemon drink and it always comes out when I'm about half way through my meal. But I keep coming back. I love that it's a little bit tacky (okay, a lot tacky). The food is consistently good and reasonably priced. I recommend it with a warning to all my friends- I love it, it tastes great, food is pretty quick and delicious, but don't expect great friendly service- they are too busy for it!
Nabs
Quick and cheap so I go here all the time. My fave is the hai nam chicken and rice :)
Rosie Marks
Love it. We go here almost once a week. Fast service great food every time!
Foodie Cravings
No taste...wouldn't go back. Use to be good back in the old days but quality has dropped over the years. The pho has no taste - I've had much better vietnamese food elsewhere for the same price.
Trust Me
Not as good as before. This place needs a re-vamp. I find the soup stock to be a bit "smelly" - What I mean is not as fresh as some soup stocks I have tried in other Vietnamese restaurants. The restaurant is a bit dirty now, compared to some of the new Vietnamese restaurants in Perth. <br/><br/>I'd rather go to Lido's down the road where the inside is new and modern. <br/><br/>Good thing about VH is they have a large menu and service is fast and the girls are sweet (nice)! They have two chicken & rice dishes which are pretty good and the wonton noodle dish (dry) is awesome. It has a sweet soya sauce dressing.
JG
WORST PHO - Viet Hoa. My wife and I have travelled Australia in search of the best Pho, sadly to say, Viet Hoa in Perth 1/349 William St, Perth is the WORST Pho in Australia.<br/><br/>There is no beef flavour in the soup as it is made of 95% water. They are SO STINGY with the rice noodles that they fill half the bowl with bean sprouts, and VERY LITTLE rice noodles.<br/><br/>We would never ever return to Viet Hoa, and will be telling everyone we know NOT to visit Viet Hoa.
Js0n1
Not authentic. For authentic Vietnamese food try Tra Vinh
Sloppy
Wow all that for $9.50 !!!. OK so you guessed I like value for money and good food to boot. Liike a number or Northbridge restaurants this one fits the bill. My 11yo ordered the roast duck soup. so he gets the standard BIG bowl of soup which he loved and a big plate of roast duck on the side. omigosh, it ended up as main for him as well as entre for the 4 adults.. I have eaten here previously, the food is always good, oh and did I mention good value.. :-)

Poor Service. Went there with a couple of friends recently and the service was abysmal. After we were seated and had decided what we wanted to order we signalled to a waitress to take our order, she looked at us and simply ignored us. Finally after trying a few more times she came over and said she would get someone to come and take our order, she then left and started chatting with one of the waiters . After about 5 more minutes of no one coming to take our order (and the girl still chatting) we tried another waiter who was bringing food out and he said he would come back. This didn't happen for another 5-10 mins. Bear in mind that this was on a tuesday arvo and there were only about 4 other tables occupied, some of which had arrived after us and were served as soon as they were ready. All in all we had to wait about 15-20 mins for our order to be taken and then another 20 for our food to arrive. The next problem came when it was time to pay, we asked if we could pay separately and the owner said no and this was fair enough so we asked if she could give us a minute to work out how to pay since we didn't have small change. She said that was alright but as soon as we started to discuss how to work it out she started to talk over us and suggest ways we could pay. I asked her if she could not interrupt but she just looked at me and continued to talk. We paid and couldn't leave quickly enough.<br/><br/>The food was alright and the prices weren't too bad but we won't be returning anytime soon.

My favourite Vietnamese noodle house. Fast service. Good food. Not as cheap as it used to be but still reasonable value for money. This place is on FIRE.

Cheap eats. Food here is good and well priced. there are lots to choose from. I love the different desserts/ drinks you can have. It can be very busy during weekend lunch time.

Tasty Food. Viet Hoa food reminds me of good eating and the price is so cheap and most of the food are fresh...my wife and I are regulars....we love their fresh spring rolls, beef satay sticks and pho beef soup and also other menu...we have been going for number of years the food taste consistent..we are glad and bless we found such restaurant ....i hope they keep going.

Doesn't do it for me. Freshness and big flavors are what Vietnamese food should be all about. Viet Hoa has neither in the dishes we tried. The soup stocks were bland and lacking the clarity indicative of care in the kitchen. We walked away nostalgically longing for our favorites in Richmond or Footscray.

Great food fast service one of my favourite places to eat. It does get very busy so get in early or make sure u book.

....nothing exceptional about the broth of each pho, just a solid straightforward mildly salty and flavoursome backbone for your choice of raw beef, tripe, prawn, pork, chicken, dumplings, wantons, or a combination thereof. The ingredients used are again solid. Freshness is guaranteed by the crowds that even on a Monday night can be lining up for short periods.

Viet Hoa is an old favourite. The restaurant, menu and dishes are still the same and ever reliable! Whilst the pho and rice paper rolls are delish, I always order the roast duck and egg noodle soup. (You get half a roast duck!) Service is as expected. Food comes out super fast. Servings are generous. 349 William Street, Northbridge Share this: Twitter Facebook Google +1 Like this: Like Loading... The plates are plastic. The plants are plastic. The decor is atrocious. The wait staff are rude and hardly speak any English. The menus are dog-eared and covered in a sticky grease. In fact, everything feels like it is covered in a sticky grease.

The drop in mercury has cravings for hot soup and comforting food emerge.   We dropped into Viet Hoa for chicken rice and hot beef noodle soup.  I should really say hot beef spaghetti soup as there was something oddly Italian about my noodles.

You should never judge a book by its cover and this proves true for Viet Hoa in William St Northbridge. From first glance you may have second thoughts about entering with the daggy decor and food hall type set up. You then wonder why the restaurant is so full and buzzing and decide to give it a go?

If you’re looking for some tasty pho that is reasonably priced, look no further.

The portion sizes are generous – both the meat and rice dishes – and will be plenty for one, even two if you’re not starving. I quite enjoyed this dis, my one complaint regarding this dish however there was personally not enough broccoli in it compared with the large amount of onion and mushrooms – however I do love my broccoli so there could have possibly never been enough broccoli for my liking… still overall the dish was nice and mildly seasoned.
Queen Of Bad Timing
Cold nights in Perth go hand in hand naturally with indulging in fragrant broths and hearty soups. Viet Hoa offers a great number of pho dishes to choose from and escape the chill.

At the end of the night, I was quite disappointed with the food and its lack of fresh, quality ingredients.

Continuing on my recent foray into the Vietnamese pho, I visited Viet Hoa in Northbridge during a particularly ravenous state as I foolishly skipped breakfast that morning. I was in the neighbourhood running some errands. When I finished getting the things I needed to get, my stomach was my next urgent priority. I carefully looked at a few restaurants before settling on Viet Hoa. About 7 years ago now, I went there with my parents, and we did not have a particularly good meal / experience, we never came ba
