Review Chee Tayeb - Perth

TheNewsOne 92
Beautiful place. Amazing owners. The chicken wrap is amazing and the outdoor seating is wicked. Can smoke outside which is cool, COLD beer available which is great. Every time I’ve came here I’ve really enjoyed it. Highly recommend it. Great prices too, just be aware they do close quite early tho
Perth Halal Culinary Experience
The waiter was great. The chips were very good, so was the chicken kebab. My friend got the lamb kebab and it was terrible. Tasted like straight blood, probably bad meat quality or the marinade was totally non existent. I also found the kafta to be very bland. Other bits and pieces were good too. Price is on the expensive side.

Service was polite but unatttentive and unorganised. Food was authentic with an Aussie twist. Coffee is no longer served.

I quite didn't like their shawarma ! Its nothing when compared to what we get back in Lebanon. However, all 4 stars for the warm hospitality I received. The guy at the reception is very caring and polite

Probably the worst Lebanese food I've ever had, except the bread which was delicious. The fatoush salad was soggy & didn't have any crispy pita in it, the lamb with hummus had a strange taste to it, the water bottle stopper was covered in mould, the sparkling wine was awful (not the restaurant's fault but there are better low cost sparklings around). The service was good which is a shame when the food was so ordinary. Give this one a miss.

Best place for Lunch in the city. Love the ambiance, the yummy food and the hospitality. Suzanna is so friendly and definitely we will be back soon for more😍😋

Amazing Lebanese food!

Wanted to like this place more but the food wasn't amazing. The hummus dip was great along with the pita but shwarma plate had "fried potatoes" which were just ordinary chips. The meat and garlic sauce tasted very "kebab shop" and not Lebanese at all. Not terrible but not amazing either.

We came here tonight for the first time with a group of friends as we are old friends with the owner. To be fair I didn't no what to expect as I have never had Lebanese food before, but what we were served was truely amazing! What I can say is I am not a food connoisseur by any means but have been in the hospitality industry for the last 9yrs and I could not fault anything that we were given tonight. We were all so impressed by the food, wine (Lebanese of course) and service. Everyone agreed it was one of the tastiest meals we have had. If you have never tried Lebanese I would 100% recommend coming here, even if you have tried Lebanese food I guarantee you wouldn't have tried as good as this in Perth

Do yourself a favour and check our Perth's newest Lebanese restaurant (they have recently changed hands) - Chee Tayeb. The only thing better than the food was the service. Peter was a fantastic server, who truly went out of his way to ensure we had a great evening, topping up our fresh bread during the meal and even giving us a complimentary cardamon coffee to finish. The food was delicious and very authentic - I recommend the share plate to try a little bit of everything. Will be back!

Followed by mains of chicken tawouk & kafta lamb The chicken was scrumptious ! There was absolutely no remnants left on the plate Great service Fantastic food And beautiful decor A must for a lunch or dinner date

We had a lovely dinner at your restaurant tonight. The food was delicious and Joseph an excellent host. The chicken tawouk is probably the best I've had

Delicious flavours, incredibly friendly proprietors and exceptional value for money! Chee Tayeb are putting modern Lebanese food on the map in Perth! We've made our lazy Sunday lunch a weekly thing at Chee Tayeb, the outdoor seating is glorious in the sun!

This restaurant just reopened , with a new menu , tried their charcoal grilled mixed grill , served on a bed of chips . With freshly baked bread , houmos garlic dip tomatoes and pickles , the best I tasted for a long time . Service excellent . I will visit again

I don't recommend this place at all! Rude owner and his knafeh was off he refused to give us a refun. I don't understand how he ignored the fact that his own chef agreed that the knafeh was weird
Worst place ever

*Rating is a 2.5*
Food was unfortunately pretty disappointing at this little middle eastern restaurant located on Murray street (very close to the King street shopping strip). Ordered some hummus and eggplant dips and bread as starters (very ordinary), the zaatar and cheese ‘pizza’ (ok), the fattoush salad (awful - the dressing was bitter & tasted terrible and the salad itself was soggy), and finally the lamb kebab (undercooked, small serving size and not tasty at all). Service staff were really friendly however, but food took a long time to come out. There are definitely much nicer and more authentic middle eastern restaurants to dine at in Perth.

Great food, service and large servings, would recommend and will be going back. We had hummus entree, spinach pie and a chicken burger - impressive!

Ordered the shared platter, kafta lamb and chilli fried chicken. Food was good and portion was huge. It was a pleasant dining experience until we walked out from the restaurant and noticed the sign says get 2 pints free with every purchase of share platter. The staffs who took our order didnt even ask or inform us.

This place is an absolute gem in the middle of the city serving some real good, fresh and authentic middle eastern delicacies. Their hot bread is simply amazing (haven't found that quality in any other middle eastern restaurants; only remember that quality while I was working out of Abu Dhabi) and I highly recommend their hot wraps (the business chicken wrap, the veg zaatar wrap etc). Even the regular items like the falafel, hummus etc taste much better here. The service is always fantastic, the portions good, and the short wait for the freshness served on your plate is completely worth it.

P.S: Please bring back your original chicken business wrap. That tasted great, the one we had a couple of days back had very different "fried chicken" in it - completely killed the original taste.
PerthfectBreakfast
Dined for lunch and ordered the share plate for 2 as a main to share. It came with hummus with lamb mince, meat balls, sausage, lamb kibbeh, fried chilli chicken wings, grill haloumi, labneh and bread. Decent size for lunch especially since the bread was bottomless.

My fave items on the platter were the lamb kibbeh and chicken wings. I found the sausage to be way too salty. The bread was freshly cooked and came out warm but I found it to be a little doughy.

Overall a great place for lunch and would return

Awesome. Joey so friendly and helpful. Never full of flavour. Never had Lebanese before so no idea if its authentic but it tasted great. Thoroughly recommended.

I've lived in the Middle East for a long long time and have been to many middle eastern restaurants in Perth but Chee Tayeb is one that serves authentic middle eastern food.

We ordered the zaatar and cheese bread, chicken shawarma and chicken sheekh tawouuk.. All the 3 dishes were delicious. Their portions are big so we had to pack some of our lunch. The ambience is cozy and the staff are courteous and friendly. They know their dishes! The menu isn't as extensive as other multicultural places but everything on the menu is prepared really well. Unfortunately they did not have their traditional Laban drink.

Thoroughly impressed with this place! Will definitely come back again for more!

Really this restaurant is a real picture of a lebanese restaurant, so authentic and modern ! Service was outstanding and food so yummy and delicious. We had the plate to share and tried few mains the kafta and chiken tawouk platter! Highly recomended

Amazing and fast service. Came in close to closing time but was still served. Food came out hot and looked/tasted very fresh. Their coffee is very good also! Will be going back very soon. Highly recommend.

Came here for a breakfast, brunch, amazing food and amazing hosts, if you're in Perth and have a chance to check it out, do yourself a favour and do so! Lebanese coffee to wrap up the meal was perfect!

Delicious food accompanied by extremely friendly owner and staff. Succulent chicken tawouk and scrumptious lamb pizza. Can't recommend highly enough. Try the candle!

Beautiful flavours of the Middle East, huge portions. The service from the owner "Peter" is exemplary so attentive to your every needs. When we informed him of our birthday celebration, he brought out cake and ice cream for the event.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
I came here for lunch it was not to busy,

The gentleman offered. Me a seat at the table offered me water, he took my order,

He brought the food out and said would I like anything els to drink I said coffee please he said now or after your meal? This is good service

The falafel wrap was pretty nice I wish it had more salads it had pickle veggies on it but could of had some nice salad, over all it was nice,

The Lebanese coffee is so strong lucky I got milk on the side. Good food good price good service! I highly recommend it

We had a lunch here last week it was amazing lovely food well presented and tasty never had better Lebanese food in Perth and also the service was really good and professional good luck guys and keep up with the good work

I had lunch here today and it was lovely. Nothing flash but perfect for a casual snack or lunch. The host working was lovely - attentive but not over the top. We had the sharing board which was very tasty and a very divers mixture of flavours. The little sausages were very tasty and I loved the fried chicken and humus. The labneh was the absolute best! I loved that everything was served on a bed of rocket, it's a great fresh snack in between tapas.

Great food at a great price and really friendly staff. Will be back.
There is currently a lack of mid range middle eastern restaurants in Perth. Happy I found it.

Seriously amazing food!!

Service: excellent, minimal waiting time with prompt table service.

Food: to die for! The lamb kofta was cooked to perfection n fresh bread with hummus is also a crowd pleaser.

Cost: Around $25 -30 pp

They have been open for 4 months but I would highly recommend this place.

It's nice to have an authentic restaurant such as this in the CBD.
The owner is very welcoming and friendly. I could have eaten the fresh hot bread with the Chee Tayeb hummus only and been extremely happy. The bread is very soft and somehow not dry at all.
The Falafel was definitely good but a little dry. The Kafta Lamb was cooked very well with a good blend of traditional spices but the portion was tiny.
The Beetroot Latte is worth giving a shot - very delicate flavour similar to a proper Matcha Latte (i.e. using proper Matcha tea and not the sweetened liquid stuff).

We came here today for a girls lunch and were very happy with our dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious (we ate some before I remembered to take photos. The servings were much bigger than shown in the pics). We had the haloumi stick entree along with the hummus and bread. They even made gluten free bread for our friend who is intolerant. So tasty! Then for mains we had the chicken and lamb share plates (I forget their formal names). Honestly it's the best chicken I've ever eaten! Dessert was a strange cheese and syrup combination with pistachios, but very tasty. We enjoyed red wine and Lebanese beer with our meal. The service was excellent an we will definitely return

It was my first time visiting this restaurant last night and first time eating Lebanese food. Great little place, very central. Friendly staff. All the food we had was delicious, including the bread and hummus, spicy friend chicken and a salad (I think it was called Fattouch). The salad was amazing. Highly recommend. Prices were average for the area.
Yonatan Sehayek
I ordered the hummus with minced meet and pita bread using "Uber eats". The hummus was tasty and creamy while the minced meet was salty and slightly crispy. The pita bread was soft, moist and the best I have had in WA so far.

Service is excellent and very friendly! The goat cheese dessert was really really good too!! Highly recommended ! Very tasty and cozy place. Located just next to CPP car park, very convenient
Caleb Leong
The service is really good and the waiter is really really friendly and polite. The dessert - with goat cheese is really different and delicious! The coffee and drinks are very authentic, definitely will come back again!

I popped in for a second visit, a light lunch and got the fried falafel wrap and then namoura for dessert.

Fried Falafel Wrap - Falafel, parsley and tomato with Chee Tayeb sauce
The falafel is a little intense at times though very tasty. I like the crunch from the fried falafel coating which contrasts against the soft warmed pita and the tomato filling inside.

Namoura 3pcs - Traditional Lebanese dessert topped with walnuts.

The knafeh from last time takes some beating but this dessert was delicious in it's own right. A lovely firm cake, nicely warmed with a slight crust and light syrup for just a touch of sweetness. The walnuts provide that crunch factor.
Catherine
Beautiful dinner. Hummus and freshly made bread was quite special, and teamed with a plate of fatouch... yum. Kafta with more fresh bread, salad and hummus, and zaatar wrap with olives, tomato and cucumber. Beautiful, and we will be back.

Best Lebanese food I've had in Perth! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal of baked eggs - cooked with gooey cheese and lamb mince, our hummus with lamb mince and our baked flat bread!!! Every bite was perfect, you could taste the freshness of the ingredients and the bread was very more-ish!!! Authentic Lebanese cuisine all the way! Would highly recommend this place, keep up the great work!!!

Chee Tayeb is a relatively new addition to the Perth CBD. Located on Murray St, they serve a range of coffees and teas but they also serve Lebanese cuisine. Open for breakfast and lunch, I popped in for lunch. I decided on the tawouk, marinated chicken skewers that were removed from the skewer and served with super light soft warmed pita bread, a rocket salad, tender slices of thick grilled potatoes, and the chicken of course which was moist, tender, and carried a light subtle marinade. The flavour wasn’t overpowering and a touch of the mayo added more pep to each bite. Deceptively filling. I was also keen on dessert and the customers next to me got something interesting that wasn’t on the menu. I got it too, knafeh, a semolina dessert with a most delicious gooey stringy elastic cheese topped with a fine crumb and served with a touch of syrup and pistachios and walnuts for some crunch. Oh wow, what a delicious dessert! Cheese is unusual in a dessert, but while rich, the touch of sweetness works wonders in this wonderful traditional Lebanese creation. Excellent service, pop in for a coffee, a takeaway wrap or come in and taste the menu.
Chris Kirkby
Worlds most expensive Lebanese restaurant. $46 for hummus, labneh and falafel. 2ppl for lunch. Not even that authentic - stick to the Prophet in Vic Park for authenticity and value.
Oussama
Very nice concept, cozy and warm. Service is great and food presentation is perfect. Fresh food and ingredients with reasonable pricing. Worth a visit for sure
Daniel Wright
If you have a sweet tooth like mine, there's every chance you'll be back for the Semolina cake (Namoura). Never met more friendlier staff! great location, great food.

Really nice establishment with a very classy feel. The wait staff was friendly and the food was really tasty. Highly recommend trying the Alicio steak which was cooked exactly how I wanted it. Will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu.

What a cool place! Middle Eastern-French cuisine at the corner of King and Murray streets. Seriously lovely staff in what I think is a family run business. We went for the Kafta & Cheese and the Kafta Platter (too much mince beef maybe!). The kafta and cheese was like a hamburger cross pizza, especially with the pickles/gherkins on top. Was soooo yummy. The kafta platter was beautifully presented and consisted of little minced beef kebabs, some roast potato slices, some hummus, flat bread and a lovely refreshing salad. I couldn't get enough of the salad! I will definitely be back to try more dishes and one of the authentic desserts.
PerthFoodieGirls
Attended the launch of this new Lebanese cafe in the city. We were all treated to a 3 course meal that night.

On arrival Joey explained what we were all going to be served a few minutes later we got a bowl of hummus and and 2 warm flat breads which are made in house.

The mains came out and it was chicken skewers, with salad, chips, flat breads and a dollop of what to appeared to be raw minced garlic (woahhh - talk about getting your head blown off) but it did go well when you added it to the flat breads with the chicken and salad. But talk about garlic breath =p

For dessert it was a semolina cake with the tiniest amount of syrup and walnuts. The cake was nice and had a lot of flavour and the top was nice and crunchy - but it could have done with a bit more syrup and maybe a side of cream / ice-cream or custard.
Inexology
Our main food was a platter of Tawouk, very tender marinated chicken skewers with pickles and garlic sauce which also accompanied by crispy chips and Fattouch. Contrary to its name (fat-touch), Fattouch is a very refreshing salad which contains tomato, cucumber, capsicum, spring onion, mint, parsley, and topped with vegetable oil, salt and lemon dressing. The whole thing on the platter was really delicious and I really love it!

We finished off with Namoura, a rich and dense traditional Lebanese cake bar topped with walnuts or almonds which was really great to be enjoyed after a delicious meal.
Vaidehi
Had Zaaftar & Veggie Wrap here it was really tasty and fresh, hero of the dish was the flavour of dried thyme. Looking forward to try some more dishes here.
