Review The Standard - Perth

Bianca Beck
We tried the hawker Wednesday special and it was such a treat. Great meal for a great price with a drink included and the restaurant had an awesome vibe and atmosphere for a rainy Wednesday night. The service was quick and friendly too. The meal was really delicious. We had the Thai duck broth. The broth was lacking a bit in flavor but the duck was delicious. We also tried the fried chicken and it was one of the yummiest I’ve had! So delicious. Would recommend trying it out.

First time here. Really liked the ambiance, especially the garden area. But it would be better during the winter, summer heat is crazy. We ordered the Lazy weekend and it was okay. Most of the food is sour. Huge portion tho, good enough for 4. Cocktail was great! Dont remember the exact name but it was Yuzu something.

Faultless food. Great service and ambience both inside and outside in the garden (and upstairs) My only regret is I didn't get time to take pics of the grilled Korean BBQ chicken noodles before we devoured it! Entree we got home made potato gems (is there anything better?) And shredded duck pancake thingy. Want to go back to try the sunday lazy Susan lunch too!

Delicious cocktails. However both vegetarian dishes were very disappointing. The roasted calabrese broccoli just an underwhelming cooked head of broccoli and that’s it. The black jasmine garlic fried rice was undercooked and chewy.
Fran Cormack
Great bar in Northbridge. Large space with an inside and outside bar. The food is very good. Try a selection of the share plates. Asian influenced tapas style. The Korean chicken is yummy.

First time here and I am very impressed!! Korean food was delicious in an Aussie restaurant/bar. Lovely!!! Will try something else next time:)

Not sure if the lady is a security guard/front counter staff memeber, but her name is Eleanor and she's from Italy. Absolutely outstanding customer service from her. So polite, friendly and caring!! Give her a pay rise!! Thanks for making our night pleasant 😁 If wanting to dine in for dinner, def book..however you can walk in for drinks in the garden bar side. Customer Service 10/10 Ambience 10/10 Drinks 10/10 Will be back to try the food for sure 🙌🏾

What great service !! Greeted with a smile and everything explained in detail. Gave me hope for service in Perth. The menu was a nice surprise, not your typical pub grub, lots of options and caters well for vegetarians and gluten free options. A tasty mulled wine to top it off too. Definitely returning for another round.

Rude, arrogant front of house staff & sub-par food. From the moment we arrived we had nasty dismissive service after informing the staff we had called earlier to extend our booking. After several papers were ruffled & standing at the bar without eye contact we were begrudgingly seated. The lazy susan platter was good value if the meat was edible, apparently cooked for 6hrs but was served gristly, rare & apparently fine for a pregnant person to consume (the chef disagreed after we checked with a different waitress). This was the last strike for us, in a city that's bustling with new eateries & good priced drinks we'll be going elsewhere.

I attended the latest long table dinner matching food with wine and without a doubt one of the best value for money events I have attended. The food was incredible, staff were great and the wine was second to none

Awesome food, cocktails were fabulous and the beer garden is a little piece of heaven in the city - my fave place to be after a long day at work 😍

I love this restaurant. The setting is wonderful, the food is fresh and tasty and very appealing, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the wine list is great. The chairs are just plain odd, imho, but that just adds to the quirky charm of the place. Do yourself a favour and enjoy a night out here.

I recently had my 30th birthday party here, and we were given a section in the garden to ourselves, perfect size. We had an amazing night at The Standard! Our area was all set up ready for our arrival. From start to finish the staff were fantastic, so attentive, polite, and so welcoming to us and our guests! The food was unbelievable and great value too. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Thank you!

Saturday night around 6.30 is busy time for many eateries. We didn’t realise we could book. But we should have. So we weren’t sure how well we’d be served. We were served very well. Overall the experience was good but a few minor issues spoiled a solid 4/5 stars. The food served was excellent but, one of our party hates coriander and the Roo dish couldn’t be served without. Which disappointed one of us. The waitress warned us the kitchen wasn’t peanut safe for our peanut sensitive friend. But a note on the menu would’ve helped. Our Garnacha wine was very nice but wine was brought to us opened and I always think that’s suspicious. The table water tasted awful and there was no still mineral water available to buy, just sparkling. That all said, the carpaccio, mutton, pork salad, chocolate ganache and coconut desserts were great. We’ll go back, but not especially.

We ordered the lazy Susan Sunday and the food was delicious and more than enough for 4 people although two post comp bodybuilders were able to smash it quite easily. Staff were friendly and attentive we would definitely recommend it to friends

Just go there and sit upstairs. It's a great spot. The lazy Susan mixed plate for $40 was excellent, so was the vibe and the service (I tipped the waitress she was so friendly).. Highly recommended

Had my 40th there on a Sunday afternoon in January 2016. The whole experience was great starting with Shenei who booked a private area for me and helped me select enough food for everyone. On the night, Patrick looked after us and ran it all superbly. The food was brought out with great timing and the bar staff smiled politely at our stupid jokes while serving up some damn good drinks. Totally recommended.
Bianca Koehler
Fantastic venue, but most importantly, great hostess and very good service from the waiting staff. The food is different, in a good way. Hubby was impressed with the great selection of gourmet beers.
Alicia Clark
Gorgeous place, we love sitting out in the garden corner or up top. Food always amazing & delicious. The cocktails are great but when ordering the punches for 4, it's really stretching 'a glass each' and for the price, could be a little more generous!
Jenny Dalby
Awesome food, great staff, cute spot out in the garden. Couldn't have asked for a better night! The roasted broccoli made my soul happy.
Bron Walker
Thank you to everyone at The Standard Perth for helping arrange a fantastic hens celebration on Saturday. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were awesome. Highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to arrange a hassle free and brilliant venue.

Interesting place will go back tried new beers good atmosphere friendly staff

Great place to watch people and enjoy top-class food and drinks! Amazing, carefully crafted cocktails!

I spent weeks organising a function with Alice and everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Long story short, my requirements weren’t honoured, I spent my night sorting out issues because of ‘miscommunication’ between staff members. When I emailed Alice about the problems a few days later, the impression I was left with is that I should have been grateful because I actually received more than what I actually paid for. Very disappointing!

There’s no denying The Standard has a great feel and ambience. Funky interior decor, and a really nice outdoor setting with additional upstairs outdoor seating makes for a really cool place to dine & have a drink (or two). Wait staff for the most part, are friendly and knowledgeable. Menu is interesting and creative - from tapas share plates to larger main courses, although not much has changed on their menu over the last few years. Came for lunch recently and shared the KFC Korean fried cauliflower- a bit too heavily battered and flavour was overpoweringly sweet. Kombu braised cabbage was interesting, but the sauce it was cooked in was again super sweet so it was hard to eat a lot of this. Thai herb salad was sensational, jumbo prawns were delicious and Stracciatella with zucchini & mint was simple but tasty. Finished with the honeycomb semifreddo, which was encased in a very thick log shaped shell of hard chocolate - really wish there was more actual semifreddo in this dessert than the other elements, as well as the passion fruit sorbet (nothing special). Food was a little hit and miss in my opinion, but there were a lot of dishes we didn’t get the opportunity to try. Still a great place to check out, be sure to book ahead especially on weekends as it gets packed.

Yes a straight 5* let me start with the venue itself, modern feel with touches of foliage around and plenty of places to sit/stand (whatever your into) at the bar, inside, outside, upstairs outside....you get the point. <br/><br/>There are plenty of food options for everyone, Im not going to single any out, but we have tried them all and can say let your imagination do the ordering.  It's definitely a style for sharing though but thats cool because that way your try more.<br/><br/>There are a few tap beers which are most often filled with Australian craft varieties that change seasonally. Plenty of others in the fridge and the wine lovers will find something with ease.<br/><br/>The pricing is about right for Perth in its modern form. Best thing is when the experience is this good your happy what you get for your dollars.<br/><br/>On a side note make sure you follow them on socials, you will get in the know early with their Sunday feast menu which you have to get onto, its one of Perth's best kept secrets!!

Was really disappointed with the cost of this wine bar.  A 285% mark up on bottles of wine is ridiculous.  $54 for a Mr Mick rose was unacceptable, especially when it retails for $15.  I did try to contact the establishment via email but never heard back.  Staff seemed lovely and the atmosphere and decor was very nice but pricing is way too expensive for what it is.
Medium Rare Steak
It was a good Monday evening and we got a nice cosy table outside near an outdoor heater which was fantastic. They have a beautiful but dim garden with led lights all around. Music was loud, but probably because we were seated directly under the speakers. There are plenty of seatings outside with a 'upper level' area also. Quite impressive!! The inside was also nicely decorated.<br/>We came here because of Hawker Mondays. It was supposed to be Crispy Roasted pork belly lechon. Upon asking about this special, we were told that it is 'sold out'. Really?! It was 6pm, and we were probably the first few dining guests.<br/>Feeling a little disappointed and also deceived, we still proceeded to order what's on the menu: Korean bbq chicken, and the Swordfish (fish of the day) with turmeric and coconut curry and rice gnnocchi.<br/>Both dishes were well presented and look appetizing. Although the rice gnnocchi was surprisingly the Korean rice cake Tteokbokki, it was still good. The Korean bbq chicken dish didn't taste anything Korean like, despite it too having the Tteokbokki in it. It makes me wonder if the chef is Korean or just a fan of the rice cake. Both dishes were unique and tasted good.<br/>Service was friendly and prompt. They do have more selection on their drinks menu, including cocktails and mix drinks. The food prices are higher than other nearby restaurants. I'd recommend this venue if you want to come for drinks and social catchups.
Magpie
Friday evening drinks and stayed on for dinner.<br/>Very busy, noisy and vibrant, however service and attention not at all compromised.<br/>Wait staff were brilliant.<br/>Great selection of beers, wines and cocktails and not over the top for price.<br/>We selected a fair number of dishes to share and were very happy. Presentation and flavour of all was spot on. The KFC was a standout!
Food And Wine Ombudsman
One of the best bars around – but more than a bar the Standard has an entrancing garden area at the back and the kitchen turns out some of the best food you could wish for – it has an Asian twist, and indeed each Monday is Hawker Monday with a new dish inspired by Asian street food. And the wine list is similarly outstanding with an emphasis on new wave wines from some of WA’s and Australia’s best young producers, but including, too, some fine international choices from Italy, Spain and France.
Benjiz
Friendly staff and lovely setup with rooftop and city views. The selection of plants, decor and lighting provide a laid back atmosphere which was very pleasant. <br/><br/>A varied selection of tapas dishes with original ingredients. Plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options means a variety of eaters are catered for and can feel welcome.<br/><br/>On the downside the music was thumping and although we were able to hold a conversation, the music level was more consistent with a night club than with a restaurant.<br/><br/>Food was original and well presented. Some dishes were quite a success while others a bit less so. <br/>The egg fried rice was far too salty. The ceviche serving was too small a portion - more like an appetiser. <br/>Customer service was top and the wait staff very friendly.

The rumours were right! This place is an absolute gem! First of all, the atmosphere is absolutely amazing, you have three different areas where you can be at. Second, I was very impressed with the lazy Sunday dinner option only for $50 dollars! It was three of us and we were so stuffed that we had to take some home! This is one of my local pubs so I will certainly be back some time soon!

2nd visit: Sundays are often spent lazing around and @TheStandardPerth gets it 🗣🗯! During July for #WinterFestPerth you can get the < Lazy Sundays > on Saturdays for lunch or Sundays for lunch & dinner. The menu changes each week so check back every Thursday to lock in your table for that weekend! $50 for a feast served Lazy-Susan style, designed to share between 3-4 people, or one very hungry person if you have no friends.<br/><br/>Our French menu 🇫🇷 last week included chicken coq au vin, braised peas, mashed potatoes and roasted baby onions. Massive marylands and drumsticks 🐥 were braised in tempranillo till tender, with the meat itself being under-seasoned but along with the buttery sauce, it was spot on. The sauce was full of bay leaf and thyme and had the perfect consistency 🌱. Would have been better if it was served hot and not just warm though. We especially loveddd the creamy mashed potatoes and precious caramelised onions.<br/><br/>We got some fried chicken 🍗 to nibble on and weren't really fans of the excessive use of tamarind. It also lacked salt so the balance of flavours was off. The batter wasn't crispy, rather soggy and doughy. My mulled wine and cider, however, were both awesome 🍷☕️. I loved the tannic mouthfeel in the shiraz cabernet and honey, ginger and citrus notes in the apple cider were divine. They were definitely an acquired taste though.<br/><br/>A massive shout-out to Jai, who went above and beyond to make our night comfortable 🙏! She demonstrated the kind of hospitality that would entice people to come back, even when the food wasn't perfect.<br/>__________<br/>1st visit: The Standard is equipped with a winning formula: rooftop view + wine garden + impressive bar + great cocktails + gorgeous architecture + attentive staff. The one missing variable from the equation is unfortunately exciting food.<br/><br/>Our beef carpaccio 🐮 arrived looking amazing, and upon the first bite I was in love. Wasabi cream and beef were delicious together but the excitement soon wore off. The dish lacked texture, everything was one-dimensional and tiny bits of crispy garlic wasn't enough to change it up. Miso-buttered mushroom 🍄 was good but combined with the stracciatella, everything was too heavy. Salty scalloped potatoes were soggy and did not salvage the dish. Korean grilled chicken 🐥 felt the most "complete", with moist chicken and vibrant herb salad.<br/><br/>Desserts were especially disappointing as they sounded great on paper. The flavour of kaffir lime mousse 🍋 was too subtle and mascaporne icecream was near tasteless. This was not a memorable dessert, along with the honeycomb semifreddo. I enjoyed pieces of honeycomb 🐝 and the milk cakes but the dish as a whole had too many conflicting elements that didn't hero anything in particular. Lemon myrtle curd and limoncello were especially irrelevant. Also that tempered chocolate pipe 🍫 was so thick that it was hard to break and not palatable.<br/><br/>As far as the regular menu went, nothing really tickled my fancy 😣. With that said, the Monday and Sunday specials look awesome 😊! Another visit might be in order & hopefully this time it won't be another case of sounding-great-on-paper-but-not-translating-on-plate.

Been here a few times now under a few different circumstances, each time it has been exceptional! Fantastic service, atmosphere and food. In fact I'd highly recommend going during the week rather than on weekends as the staff actually have the time to commit to their excellent customer service.

I like the courtyard and its atmosphere. Perfect for a summer dinner with few friends. Food and service are good. Convenient location in the middle of a vibrant area.
Caturday
Went along on Hawker Monday prior to seeing a show at the state theatre. Staff are awesome, efficient, friendly and professional despite being super busy. We didn’t have to wait around at all for service when we were after it. Kudos to the team. <br/>Was fully booked but managed to get seats at the bar. <br/><br/>We ordered some mulled red wine and cider ($8 each). Yum yum, tasted the same as mulled drinks we’ve had in Europe, very warming. I noted the espresso martinis were $10 with Mr Black coffee liqueur mmmm, will have to come back and get some. <br/><br/>We naturally ordered the hawker Monday special (laksa with Thai spiced chicken thighs, slow eggs, sprouts, fresh herbs, house made fermented chilli sauce, black bean ketchup (I think), fish sauce, bottomless broth. The dish was fab. Loved the rich coconut broth with plenty of shrimpy umami, bright acid tones and warm spice. My partner and I got two bottles each, and finished them. So good. It’s better than the laksa we’ve had around Perth which I find can be oily, watery or both. The egg was cooked nicely (watch out ramen joints) and the chicken was tender. Loved the herbaceousness of it all too. <br/><br/>My partner also appreciated the combination of great service with great Asian food (I tend to drag her along to Asian joints with great food but mmm lacklustre service). <br/><br/>If this is a reflection of their normal food then we’ll be back for more. Great place. The Monday dishes rotate (stay in tune on their social media) so I’m not sure if we’ll see the laksa again.

I came back due to my previous experience where I LOVED their fish curry and to celebrate my little business launch last Friday. Be aware they are strict when you book 10+ people as everyone needs to order their set menu even though it said it was an option on their website and menu. Also, I was disappointed with the service as one lady was very rude when she took our orders- really impatient and rude mannered where all 12 of my guests were apauled by how she treated us. So sadddd but other than that, some of the other staff members were really nice and friendly and food that night was alright, they do a good job on fusion inspired food. I would come back to try a new menu, they are creative.

Nothing better than a lazy Susan on a Sunday. I’ve been eyeing off the standard since last year and it’s safe to say there $50 meals on Sunday’s feels like a surprise party every week. With a new meal every week, this tasty platter could feed a family. I’ve been impressed every time! Can’t wait for next weeks

The only reason I keep coming to this place awesome and cozy place along Roe Highway in Northbridge is their wood baked goat’s brie! Amazing! It simply is. The way they make the brie melted sweetly in your mouth is just to die for! If only the price slightly cheaper, I would make its goat’s brie a more regular visit!

CRAPPY FOOD AND POOR SERVICEI went there for a Christmas work event and the food they served was crap. They served a deep fried prawn on stick with shell on it, it got stuck half way down my throat, shocking. Next was some type of bean similar to bake beans they made into deep fried chips it was weird, mushy doesn’t go well with beer.Service was poor I told the barman that I was here for the work party and he didn’t make me feel welcome.I have to stand in line for a long time to get a beer, I went at 5pm it wasn’t that busy but staff will pretend to be busy and walk straight pass you except for the Indian bloke he was good. If you want crappy food and poor service the Standard for you!
Dr Ross
I took a group of 11 guests to The Standard on Saturday evening and shared in an exceptional experience. The food was plentiful and of extremely high quality; the drinks list was extensive and well priced;  the service was absolutely exceptional; and finally the atmosphere was buzzy and vibrant. In short I throroughly recommend 'The Standard' as a premier restaurant in Perth for all ages and all occasions.

I came here with some friends after I chose this venue, as I had always had a great time here when I have been at night. However .... last weekend - not such a great time. We ordered the $10 espresso martinis and when we went to pay we got charged $18. Once we realised we thought "no big deal, they will probably just take it off our next drink" (after all we were planning on spending the day there). Unfortunately the bar tender became very hostile once we alerted him of the error, and told us we had to specify the $10 espresso martini if that was the one we wanted, as it was a different size. Ok legit fair enough! So I asked where on the menu that one was, as I hadn't even noticed their were two options. I was responded with, "Oh its not on the menu". Long story short after him telling us "well I don't really know what to do about it", he got his manager, who asked us "well who served you?!" (how is that our problem?) Then we had to speak to the waitress who served us who explained yet again that we had to specify the $10 cocktail or we would be charged the mystery 'not on the menu' cocktail.  Overall we spoke to three different staff members back and forth until the manager begrudgingly handed us back our $8 each. For a mistake that was no big deal, they turned it into something that was so uncomfortable that we ended up leaving and going elsewhere. The first time I have ever been anywhere who have charged me whatever they wanted claiming "well its not on the menu". In the future would much prefer to go to a bar where they are happy to educate you on their alcohol and provide you with the best drinking experience.

Overall a decent restaurant! It has a very nice aesthetic in its setting with a good mix of undercover and outdoor/garden area. The service is alright though.I was with a group in the outdoor area and the waitress left the cloth on the table, directly asking us to wipe it. That was a first for me but other then that the food was good and reasonable with its price and it’s presentation and taste. Not sure if I’ll go again for the food but a nice place for drinks!
Sonya
I have been to The Standard many times before for drinks but came for the first time for food on Sunday. Friends suggested we come for the Lazy Susan Sunday special which is like the nicest tasting platter you can think of and at only $40 is a bargain. We shared between four people (two boys, two girls) and all had plenty to eat. This week consisted of beef carpaccio, veg lasagne, creamy gnocchi, arincini and some other delights. The winner for me was the rich gnocchi which I wanted more of but really when I think of it I would have made myself sick had I had a full portion to myself so the tasting option is definitely for the best!!
Carolyn Field
One of our favourite places to eat in Northbridge.  The staff are so welcoming and the menu very interesting.   Great wine list too.  Not the cheapest place in town but the ambience and great food makes it worthwhile.  Every week I drool over their Lazy Susan plates - havent had one yet but they are high on the list for the near future.
Perth Food Blogger
Nice l place, with a great little courtyard at the back. Chilled out vibe, friendly staff and a good range of drinks. Definitely worth checking out!
GG
great drinks & food! The space is also cute. My only feedback is we had a larger table and the long share table is super uncomfortable the chairs are way to high to make it easy to get on or off which makes<br/>It hard to socialise with your dinner party.
Natalie
Always looked forward to trying this place out! Disappointed with their frosè. Their food looks amazing, may have to try it if I decide to go back.
Thunderous Wizard
Atmoshere is cool and trendy. Food high quality. Friendly and efficient staff. <br/>Good mix of clientele with oldies to young ones. <br/>Definitely worth a return visit.
Foodieperth
Pretty great feed for such a cheap price! We had the Lazy Susan- the Sunday special, selling for just $40! The Sunday we went we got a whole pile of pulled pork, guacamole, salsa, tortillas and rice. Delicious food, such fresh salsa! Friendly staff and great location xo
Serena
Just fab. Came for a pre-show dinner. Prompt, friendly service and delicious cocktails and food. 3 courses for $45 - bargain. Ambiance on the upper outdoor terrace was superb.

I have been to The Standard numerous times and every time they exceed expectations! The staff are polite and so are the cooks, I love how the food/ drinks are presented, they look amazing. I applause the efforts that the staff put in especially the chefs when it come to platting up as the food doesn't only look wonderful but tastes it as well and the interior design is just beautiful. Would 100% recommend anyone to try this place out.
Little Aussie Epicurean
Went on a Friday night and took advantage of their preshow menu, there are two and three course options each with 3 dishes to select from. Nectarine and Lamb were standout dishes. The Asian salad (Vietnamese) was overdressed and did not match the refinement of other dishes.
Dan The Cake Man
Came for quick Saturday lunch to catch some autumn sun in their garden area; but alas the outdoor area was closed for a private function. Decided to go with indoors which is a nice bright space; service is at the bar. I ordered the pressed lamb belly and cured loin, native plum, pickled kohlrabi, and corn bread, and a glass of Syrah from France. Drink came out quickly, but food took a little while. Barman apologised for the wait when he brought it out. Dish was beautifully plated. The lamb belly was cooked perfectly, perhaps a little salty, but worked well with the acidity from the pickles and sweetness of the corn bread. I did enjoy the dish and the ambiance of the place. I will have to come back to enjoy the garden and try the other menu options.
The Little Pantry
Had the zucchini dish last weekend and it was delicious. Took some friends back this weekend and the dish was fatty at not appetising at all. Service great but disappointed with the food😂
Maureen Krasnoff
Fantastic! Enjoyed cocktails, wine and food- vegan dishes including one made specially vegan for us- and the service was brilliant, very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Looking forward to coming back! Zucchini flower salad was to die for/

Have always really enjoyed going to The Standard and had a great experience again at NY.Booked their NYE special dinner(at $50 a head, an absolute bargain) and was not disappointed.  We arrived for our booking at 8 30, shown to our table and were served Aperol Spritz and snacks. The remainder of the food came out at a leisurely pace, giving us chance to chat and drink wine between courses.  The meals were beautifully served and with a choice for both entrée, main and dessert we tried both options. All were really good, with the chicken noodle dish and beef carpaccio being standouts.  The pressed lamb belly main was a tad too fatty for our taste. The atmosphere was bustling without being busy, and the music and vibe were perfect.  Wait staff have been attentive and friendly every other time we have been and this was no exception .We loved our night out - thanks guys!

A quick bite to eat before a gig at the Perth Arena.  We decided to slip into The Standard for a cheeky drink and nibbles.  The service was warm, attentive and friendly.  The food came out really quick and we even had plenty of time to spare before the gig.<br/>We ordered the Malaysian Chicken with Prawn sambal - yum! The chicken was juicy and delicious, the pork croquettes with pickled eggs - again another good dish, the Kangaroo with pineapple, peanuts and coriander which was delicious (my fav dish) and the potato salad with cured meat.  Overall really happy with all we ordered and we were really full (didn't finish the potato salad).  Rounded off with a couple of drinks.  I'd like to try one of the lazy Sunday specials and knock off a few of the cocktails too!
Offshore_doug
My first visit to The Standard and oh what a gem loved it. Could not fault it wine was great food was awesome. Definitely go there again only slight blemish is that it was quite loud in the bar area while trying to chat and eat but otherwise  a terrific place to go after work and in a great location.
Danni
Dinner at the Standard last night- just excellent! From the moment we walked in the door, service was outstanding- professional and personalised- a really great vibe! Food was just as special. Sunday special represents extremely good value for money and tasted absolutely amazing. Dessert was fantastic too! . Thank you Standard team and management- couldn't fault a thing and will definitely be back !

Fabulous Foods, outstanding service and great atmosphere. Will definitely go back!<br/>For a complete video review on The Standard please visit my YouTube video channel: Sayonira called Spring Lazy Sunday in Perth City.

My daughters 18th birthday tonight. Great food. Great service. Best service thank you Patrick and staff for making her birthday great. Everyone had a great time 🌹
Evline_v
We booked a table in advance as it was during peak time - Saturday evening. Both ladies who served us were lovely. Though there is a need to have more staff on shift as we waited quite long to pay our bill. We ordered croquette (delicious!), sambal chicken (top quality!), fish curry (average) though we were impressed with garlic clams. Overall experience was wonderful! Thanks!
Chut
The service was okay since we came on a busy Friday night. The cocktails and drinks were great and probably better than the food served. Perhaps I was ordered all the wrong things but I don't think I would come for food here but just drinks. It's a great little place if you wanted to have a gathering for drinks and a bit of a chit chat amongst friends. Atmosphere was perfect for exactly that.
Pris
3.7 rating <br/>We sat at the rooftop deck with a view of the city skyline to dine. <br/><br/>Special mention : Wait staff were excellent!! I would not say service was perfect but eg. If drinks we ordered didn't arrive, the staff would come, check, apologise if it wasn't there and promised to look out for it. Exceptionally accountable and personalised - mind you, it looked like a full house that night. Just really good front of house and service.<br/><br/>Drinks were good too. <br/><br/>Food was ok - some hits and misses. The beef dish was memorable and the rest were ok. I would say I will return just for drinks and some bubbles next time. Overall it was a good experience.<br/><br/>

I really enjoyed the chicken and pomegranate salad here and very much looking forward to the return of the summer menu! Oh, and of summer!
MunchingMadi
Beautiful staff and great food.<br/>Fava chips and blue goats cheese 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻<br/>Door lady was cool and sorted us a table when we were stuck at the bar
Chelsea
Good service, had the meat platter and a glass of red, hubby had a beer. Arrive just on opening, was cold initally, but they apologies and closed the doors. Good atmosphere. Would definitely return with friends.
Mr Robot
The standard is ironic in itself, as it bestows an eccentric range of sophisticated food and drink. If one were to define this as "The Standard", I believe society would be consuming an utterly unconventional meal.
Eatingismyhobby
Great atmosphere and service here. Food menu is interesting! Ordered Fava Fries with mushroom ketchup, pork and quail croquettes and the brisket. Fava fries were good, but more of a dish you would get with beers as opposed to a sit down meal, and unfortunately the mushroom ketchup tasted overwhelmingly of pepper. Croquettes were ok, the accompaniments were the standouts here with the pickled egg providing much needed acidity. The brisket was disappointing; slow cooked meat should be packed with flavour but this was rather bland. This place has potential if only they got their flavours right, and went more easy on the black pepper!
Hungry Hippo
Great place for catch ups. Service is great food is ok. Some outstanding dishes and then there were some sub par ones. However the atmosphere here is great for those who just wants to chill with a cocktail and nibbles. <br/><br/>Staff and service here is great and very accommodating.
Humlae
Had drinks with work friends here on a Friday night. It's great that you can reserve a space so easily. Staff were great though out, thoughtful and friendly! Great drinks, delicious food
Ben Law
We went on a Friday and it was surprisingly quiet.<br/><br/>Food was good, service better. The house recommended a rice noodle and chicken dish and it really was the best dish of the day.<br/><br/>The beef tartare was delicious as well.<br/><br/>Definitely worth a visit!
HotChocolat
Great place to catchup, grab a drink and get some food. Service is very good, one of the best in Northbridge I say. Hope it is a norm and was not a one off. Will go back.

This is a popular place in Northbridge. Can get quite busy, especially Fridays and weekends. Love the food here. The first time I came here, I ordered a Virgin Mary, it was by far one of the tastiest I've had. But when I came again, it wasn't as great. It was too watery. I guess they need to be consistent with their drinks. But overall a nice place.

Great place with a good vibe. <br/><br/>Extensive drinks list with good food options. I loved their chip things that were made out of beans:)<br/><br/>Staff are great!

"This night turned from debauchery to just eating"<br/>"... But this IS debaucherous"<br/>Great drinks, awesome staff and the cold meats, just perfect.

After a few enjoyable visits, The Standard in Northbridge often comes to mind when I’m asked for suggestions in the CBD/Northbridge area, somewhere cool but casual with yummy share style food. On this particular mid week evening, with a group of girls and a few glasses of wine, it certainly ticked lots of boxes.<br/> <br/>The bar and restaurant has a bit of a modern, industrial vibe with the concrete flooring and high ceilings and simple but trendy fit out. There is quite a large garden area out the back which is perfect for summery days but not quite as ideal as the weather gets colder and wetter. I’m a fan of the sparkly fairy lights around the trees as it adds atmosphere and gives the place a backyard, homely feel. This place can definitely get busy and a little noisy on Friday and Saturday nights but with food service going till late it’s certainly a great option to start a night out.

I was so looking forward to returning here! The Standard has been the recipient of many positive reviews lately. I had been here once for dinner aaaages ago and have now been for lunch. The ambience in the evenings is wonderful (fairy lights, dimly lit, lots of happy clientele) but I must say there is zero ambience during the day. <br/><br/>I also have to say that the service today was 5 star, however the food was so disappointing! :( The clams were extremely salty (edible for my friend, I managed to force them down with tearful eyes!), the brisket was flavourless (but cooked nicely) and the yellow curry was inedible for me (too sour and imbalanced). My friend liked the zucchini flower dish and I must point out it was an enormous dish (doggy bag!) but it wasn't to my personal taste (I had once had a zucchini flower dish with goats cheese between the zucchini and the batter and it was truly incredible and nothing has compared since! Hate when that happens :p)<br/><br/>To make things worse, all 4 dishes were brought out at the same time, for the two of us. So everything is sitting getting cold. Would have been nice to bring the dishes out sequentially. The restaurant was not busy so even if that were not normal policy an exception could have been made! <br/><br/>So yeah... I probably would return for the lovely evening ambience and I might retry their food after the next menu change.

Dined here for the first time on Friday night. The food was awesome! Chicken with tamarind sambal had just the right amount of spice and a beautiful crunch. The standard charcuterie had a great selection of high quality meats. Chocolate ganache with coconut and spiced rum was also delicious, though unfortunately was missing the rum (we saw them spraying it onto other diners ganache with a misting bottle). Service was good, with friendly staff. The prices are quite expensive for serving sizes compared with other tapas style restaurants

Great place, loving the atmosphere. There was a choice of indoor/ outdoor dining. We choose to stay indoor, too cold to sit outside tonight. <br/>The bar staff was amazing so too was my elder fashion drink. The wait staff were abit slow to take our order, food came out relatively quick after we ordered. Food was amazing!! We shared the crisp zucchini flower, beef brisket, squid in mango salad and chicken in tamarind sambas sauce which was the highlight of the night. Amazing wine list. We had a lovely bottle of Pinot. Lovely food and atmosphere. Will come back!!!

Food was amazing and came out within 15 mins. The menu in general was really good, tapas style food but also bigger meals. I was impressed with the kangaroo. indoor seating is limited, despite such an abundance of space, so we sat at the bar which was just as good but it started to rain and a swarm of people came in and flooded the bar. Still, the staff made sure we were served and all in all I was pleased with the service.

Wonderful tapas style restaurant in Northbridge. The decor is very hippy/hipster and fun. The service was excellent, the staff had us laughing and made amazing recommendations. We had the olives, sourdough, chips and zucchini flower salad. All delicious! Our waitress also made a great rosè recommendation! We were the only ones there but kind of forgot because it's just a nice and fun place to be.

The Standard is in an unexpected location, nestled in the heart of Northbridge between dim sum restaurants and tiered parking; it’s the last place you would expect to find a funky garden bar.<br/><br/>Yet here she is, industrial chic meets English garden party.<br/>Full review at <br/>https://dessertstomachperth.wordpress.com

Food was excellent. Pricy, but excellent. Service was also great, we asked our waiter what he recommended and could not be happier with what we ended up with.

After hearing good things about this place, we followed the map directions through some dark Northbridge back street alleyways, which was making Mrs Kiwichef a little nervy. Thankfully we were rewarded with a very warm welcome by the funky and friendly staff, who made us feel right at home from the get go. Armed with some sage advice on what usually makes up a filling meal for two, we chose 3 sharing plates to start with, and added on one more at the end as I was still feeling a little peckish (and there were more than a few items that sounded really interesting!) <br/>The portions were reasonable and the flavours divine! The personable service continued through 3 different staff who looked after us, including a lovely young lady who answered our questions about the brief history of The Standard, but long and interesting background of the building. The outdoor seating area atop the sea container is where we'll head next time, as it looked great from below. Looking forward to the next opportunity to get in here again.

The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. Great environment to sit back and chill out, with beautiful greenery and a rooftop area with table service. The menu was interesting and the food we ordered was tasty. The wine menu is impressive. The draw back for me was being asked if we want our bill now, despite most of us only being part way through our drinks. I felt like we were being moved on because we hadn't ordered anything new in about 30 minutes (we ordered carafe of cocktails and bottles of wine, and hence still had a lot left). I thought this was a bit rude as we'd given no indication that we were ready to leave. When we said that we were still drinking our wine the waitress gave us our bill anyway.

The Beef Carpaccio was to die for. Served with this amazing wasabi goats cheese sauce and pomegranate. <br/><br/>Such a great venue. Always tricky to get a table so book ahead.

Our first visit to The Standard and the rear garden undetectable from the street side is ultra cool, looks like a pleasant spot for drinking and eating under the darkness and cool of the evening. The small decking area over a re-purposed sea container has views of the city skyscrapers in the distance, and it’s not hard to see why all seats are taken. The décor is hip and retro. Wood tones offset shiny disco silver and mirrored objects. Sparkling fairy lights make it feel like we’re at a friend’s house for the evening. Good relaxed vibe.

The Caribbean Blush was a tropical, fruity concoction which was deliciously sweet, with a strong hit of alcohol.<br/><br/>Full of flavour, punch and tang, the squid salad was a beautiful little plate. The squid just melted in your mouth and was complemented by the tart green mango and the sweet mandarin and I absolutely loved the cuttlefish crackers.<br/><br/>The beef brisket was a flavoursome and hearty plate. Pairing the incredibly tender beef brisket with onion cream and mushroom was a winner. I liked the subtle flavour of the horseradish coming through, as well as the slight crunch from the daikon.
Emily
We were sat inside at the standard for dinner on a Saturday evening. We were swarmed with mosquitos for the whole evening. I am certain there is a mosquito infestation inside the restaurant. The food was ok but nothing that would particularly prompt us to return
Renato
Great setup and attentive, friendly service. We only went for an after dinner drink and we were really looked after. Been back and it got better. Awesome charcuterie plate a cute, cute barman. Yum!
Josephine Di Giovanni
As far as venues go, the beer garden out back is awesome, we went at night and was such a nice place to have a few drinks under the fairy lights. However, we weren't so hungry so just went for the charcuterie board and some extra fresh bread as a light nibble with our drinks. After waiting 20 minutes our food still hadn't arrived which, given that we went on a weeknight and it looked pretty quiet, was a very long wait for a board of pickles and cold meats. When I asked the waitress, she said it was because the chorizo had to be cooked. When the board finally came out, the chorizo was very chilled to the point where I believe it had been taken out of a fridge and placed on the board just before being served to us, and most likely they had just forgotten our order. I'll go back again for drinks as it was a great night regardless, and to properly taste what the menu has to offer.

This place gets very busy and very LOUD! I'm glad I booked in advance. It's a fun venue and the drinks are delicious. The food is quite pretentious, lots of small blobs of gel and odd flavour combinations that sometimes work (like the roast banana mousse) and ones that don't (the overwhelmingly strong and sweet caramelised kangaroo). Honestly, I left hungry and ended up at Maccas later on, so I wouldn't eat here again. I will definitely be back to enjoy the bar and atmosphere though.
Iluvfood
This place is more for drinking, it's nice decoration but slow service. The dishes are weird, bland and unpleasant. No flavour at all. We didn't order alcohol drink to "eat nice" with tapas. We left without delicious satisfaction. Never going back again.
Dale Pringle
had a table booking on Sat night before Fringe. one of the worse meals ever. would give this place a wide berth as a place for dinner. may be okay for a drink only. this is not a restaurant but rather a bar with a few random, yet forgotten tables.
Chantelle Hiley
Such tasty food and drinks! With the share punches, the put a yummy nectar at the bottoms of your class w herbs and then you pour the alcohol on top. The only thing stopping me returning is the price point. Quite expensive considering the small serves.
Mykindathing
We went mid week with a group and had no trouble getting a big table.  The food was good and the service was quick.  Fantastic cocktails.<br/><br/>The best thing about this place is the garden atmosphere, its a great place to kick back and relax.  It also didn't hurt that when the bill came it was only $40 a head!
Pineapple Soup
It was okay. Didn't get a chance to sample the tapas as too busy and we'd left it too late to get a booking (our own fault!), so only just managed a drink.<br/>We were out the back, and unfortunately the bins in the alleyway hadn't been emptied and the stink was a bit too much for us so we left earlier than planned

This bright, leafy sanctuary on Roe Street is one of my favourite places to stop by for an after work drink, a quick bite to eat or a leisurely Sunday lunch. On a sunny day their wine garden is to die for, and the menu is perfectly curated  to never leave you wanting. <br/><br/>They have such a varied menu, there is something on there to suit every tastebud. I cannot visit The Standard without having the fava bites, which are mashed and deep friend cubes of joy served with more-ish aioli and mushroom ketchup. I have a few other favourites on the current menu, including the blue goats cheese on oat cracker with honey and balsamic reduction; and the free range chicken with malaysian spice, and prawn and tamarind sambal. The potato salad with prosciutto was pretty rocking as well. Let’s be honest, everything is good – it’s a good thing the menu is designed to share, so you can go ahead and eat it all.
JC
Good layout and nice atmosphere. Came here with three others and we ordered probably half the menu. Staff and service is attentive, and the food came out in reasonable time. A lot of hit and miss dishes. Overall it's a nice place, but it's not setting a standard that it believes it is.
Erica
Casual, relaxed dining atmosphere with delicious food and a great garden area. Most of all they have real Sapporo beer not the Cooper's rebrand stuff you get elsewhere.
DiningoutPerth
Popped in for a few drinks after work yesterday. Thanks to the staff for getting me a table when it was very busy plus great table service from our waitress inside. Good drinks list and always enjoy the food which has some different fresh options.
Melpa11
Love this place. Food is great- the charcuterie boards are fresh and yummy. Drinks list is varied and interesting and the service is always fantastic!
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Love the outdoor area. Plenty of space for large groups to get together, and love the addition of an outdoor bar so you don't have to cue up inside for a drink. Great wine list with a few special cocktails and beers too. The tapas menu is divine, loved the Charcuterie Board, especially the chorizo. Staff are knowledgable and this place would be perfect for after work drinks if you are a city dweller.

Highly highly recommend this bar/restaurant. Popped in here on a Saturday night with my boyfriend and was lucky enough to get a table inside, probably a good idea to make a reservation beforehand as the place does get quite busy. <br/><br/>We both opted for the pre set $35 2 course menu where we could select an entree and a main from a list. For entree I had the garlic clams and this was literally one of the best clam dishes I've ever had. The flavours were so delicious I wanted more! My boyfriend had the beef carpaccio which he said was good too. For mains we had the curry and chicken grill rice noodles. Both dishes were super delicious, and I honestly mean it I couldn't fault them at all. <br/><br/>It's been a while since I've rated a restaurant 5/5. Will defiantly be back, so impressed with this place!

Had a wonderful Friday after work drinks here. Service was attentive despite how busy it was, recommending a lovely wine which was exactly what we were after. Cocktails were great! The bartenders know their stuff.<br/><br/>I wouldn't recommend the fava chips, incredibly salty. The tasty mushroom ketchup made it slightly nice.

Called them Friday lunch time, tried to book a table at night, but was told that they are fully booked, but we can go have a drink at the bar first while waiting for the next available table. We went in by 6pm, already packed in side, so we put our name on the list, then ordered drink at the bar. Soon after we got our drink, the manager told us they have a table for us ourdoor at the back, which was breezy and relaxing. <br/><br/>We ordered a few dishes to share, the meat and seafood sharing platters, the fava bites and the potato salad. Our favorite dish of the night was the Free range chicken with Malaysian spice, meat is so tender and juicy, we ordered an extra one.   In the middle of the night, it started raining, a couple of staffs brought out a huge umbrella, WELL DONE!!<br/><br/>Such a nice place to hang out with friends, love the vibe, especially the outdoor seating area. Price is reasonable, staffs are very friendly. Will be back soon.

A great place for a catchup and drinks - it has an indoor, outdoor and upstairs outdoor section to enjoy. The service was friendly and kitchen and bar were quite fast for a busy place. The range of cocktails was interesting and we tried the Elder Fashion - fragrant, sweet and refreshing. For the food, we ordered the house made chips and fava bites. These were more suitable for those only having drinks as they were just prawn crackers for the chips, and the bites were fava beans made into squares and deep fried - wasn't really a fan of these. We also ordered the clams - the sauce/broth was very nice. Lastly, the pineapple fish curry with gooey rice balls - definitely our favourite. The curry was so tasty and it went really well with the gooey rice balls - unexpectedly delicious.

Very impressed with this place - the service was great. Cool vibe with a delightful layout. Favourite dish absolutely was the standard charcuterie - the chorizo was AMAZING. Keep up the good work!

The Standard offers an open spaced venue and a garden out the back to enjoy an alcoholic beverage or too and munch on some dishes from their tapas menu. I chose the garlic clams which were tasty and thoroughly enjoyed in a delicious rich creamy sauce with garlic and chives. The toasted sourdough slices were used to mop up the sauce from the clam shells and then I proceeded to clean the dish. Then it was on to dessert and I settled on the passion parfait with lychees which was a stunning dish. The flavour of the passiionfruit comes through in the smooth light parfait but without the sweetness, just melting in your mouth. The dehydrated lychees carry all the flavour but without the sharp sweetness from the fresh version. I particularly enjoyed this element and it pairs perfectly with the parfait presenting delicious summer flavours. The gel carries more lychee flavour, moistness, and a slight burst of sweetness but is well controlled. The caramelised glass shards add a touch of richness via the sesame seeds and all elements tie together in producing an excellent finish to the meal.

We had a table booked for four people and were guided to our seats as soon as we asked about our table. A little about the layout of The Standard, there is both indoor and outdoor seating with an upper level outside also. The outdoor part is decorated with fairy lights. We were seated outdoors on the lower level at a very small table in front of the bar. I did not feel like the table was big enough for 4 people considering we were all eating and had booked the table for this purpose.

A couple of weeks ago, an invitation came from the lovely Laura Moseley for an afternoon gathering to check out the Standard’s new summer menu. I was quite excited as the Standard has been on my list to visit for awhile now but I never had the chance until then!. The Standard is located on Roe Street in Northbridge and is a bar, kitchen, wine garden all in one. On arrival, I was ushered up to the balcony located in the garden up the rear end. The balcony overlooks the garden and is perfect for a small event, away from the crowd giving us some privacy but open enough not to lose the ambiance. There were a number of bloggers and foodies attending the event and I managed to meet a lot of those I follow on Instagram which was so awesome. Finally a face to the page!

Went here as a rather big group. The food was tapaz style/small bites to share. They were all prettt bland unfortunately. Not worth paying the price, especially the squid with crackers! Dont bother coming here for big eats. Ok for drinks.<br/><br/>Customer service was ok except for one rude blonde waitress. Atmosphere and crowd was good. Wont be our first choice for next outing.

This place has always caught our eye and we have been waiting for the weather to warm up to enjoy it in the wine garden. We were lucky enough to be invited to attend a summer menu tasting.<br/><br/>We sampled some amazing dishes the beef carpaccio was amazing, as was the fish curry with gooey rice balls. The banana dessert was also a winner with amazing flavours and textures. <br/><br/>This place is definitely a place to relax and chill with some friends. <br/><br/>

Finished off a weeknight out with dessert and drinks at The Standard. Nice and chilled atmosphere and the desserts were delicious😊 We shared a banana mousse one that had peanut crumble and the lemon parfait with popping candy!

The food here is fantastic but although it's tapas each dish portion is fairly large so don't make the same mistake by over ordering them. The waitress who brought the food said she was disappointed that the waiter who took the order didn't warn us that we have over-ordered. Saying that each dishes were great (just way too much) <br/><br/>I also got the cocktail in a pitcher to share (which they have a large range to choose from) which was great. Can't wait to come back to try the other flavours. <br/><br/>I did sit upstairs which made me worried that I may not get any service but surprisingly the waiter came ever 15 - 20 min or so to "wander".

We were so looked after by the staff here! Hadn't booked a table, came at prime time, were seated but told we would have to leave the spot in 90 mins. Came to that time, and the hostess managed to move around some bookings so we were able to stay in our spot because she wanted us to relax and have a great time! <br/>Amazing wine, amazing service, yummy tapas. Thanks Standard!

What's better than catching up with friends and dining out to finish off hump day? Nothing! So, a couple of friends and I ventured down to The Standard in Northbridge. I was intrigued by this place after walking past it to eat at Northbridge Chinese Restaurant. For as long as I can remember the building that is now The Standard was a nondescript deli, now even though the facade has changed very little, it is certainly attention grabbing.

Loved tonight at the Standard! The food was great, really nice atmosphere, and the staff were lovely. Good quality for money, and vegetarian friendly too!

Nice place, great outdoor section with fairy lights and views over rooftopsof northbridge.Good cocktails. Food was nice, had a couple of the platters, plenty of variety and tasty.

Great food and really reasonable prices! Had the polenta chips, olives and bread! Simple and yum. Defo recommend for food and lovely atmosphere. Staff ok, not amazing, but food yum :)

Went for dinner on Saturday. Service was attentive and the food delicious.<br/> <br/>Started with the warmed sourdough and a blue goats cheese dish. The blue goats cheese was my favourite of the night and would go back for that dish alone. <br/> <br/>We then had beef brisket and grill chicken salad. The beer brisket itself was very good but I didn’t like the cabbage as it was too thick and the croutons provided the crunch element but I don’t think went well. The grilled chicken was the better of the two mains and tasted fresh with lots of flavour. <br/> <br/>Then we had the chocolate dessert which was everything it said it would be, not as good as smores from next door, but still a good way to end the meal. <br/> <br/>I would go back again to try other items and order the blue goats cheese.
Christine Powell
The food here is well priced and delicious .<br/> We would have had a perfect night if the same applied to the wine list.,$53 for the cheapest bottle of bubbly is a bit steep for the average person. If this was more reasonable would say this place has the perfect mix of location, ambience and food.

We made a last minute booking for 4 people last night. Our waiter was outstanding, and the food was delicious. We had a bottle of tempranillo, goats cheese crackers, fava chips, kimchi cauli, mushroom donuts, fish curry, and beef brisket. Everything was top notch, great flavours, ambience, service. Oh we also tried the Tonka bean dessert, which was interesting (in a good way) and not overly sweet, with balanced flavours.
Chris Jackson
I would like to say thank you to Sam for providing a very inhospitable environment. You truly epitomise the very kind of experience that most people are trying to avoid in perth. Poor customer service and consistent harassment does not lend itself to repeat attendance. Thanks Chris J

My cousin was in town recently (visiting from London) and we organised to catch up with some of our childhood girlfriends over dinner. We decided to go to The Standard in Northbridge.<br/><br/>I’ve been here 3 times already – I really recommend it as a great place to have dinner and drinks!<br/><br/>Each time I’ve visited, I’ve taken my big DSLR camera and taken photos of what I’ve eaten. But each time, the photos turned out looking quite awful because the lighting in the restaurant is low and red in colour. Even with colour correction, I still can’t make the photos look “natural”.

Amazing service!!! Lovely waitress who recommended us the most delicious bottle of wine. All the food is full of flavour and perfect to be shared!! Love it! Will always return :)

Absolutely amazing, the food, the waiters and the drinks. I will most definitely be going again. Yum, highly recommend the yellow fish curry and the mushroom donuts, all so so good!!

We went on a Thursday and it was PACKED. Bookings definitely essential. We had heaps of dishes, I enjoyed the chips and broccolini was nice as well. If you're in to tapas, give this place a shot!

The food is so yummie - we ordered in heaps of food. The only negative would the dishes could be a little bit bigger! The interior design, wow! So beautiful! <br/>Staff is professional and really love - perfect for a romantic date night!

Came here for a quick dinner on Sunday night after watching Absinthe. <br/><br/>The last time I came here it was a Friday night and it was packed. This time was different..there were plenty of tables available. <br/><br/>Service was excellent and staff were very attentive.<br/><br/>Their menu is well presented and shows a creative flair in the kitchen. Different from the same old aranchini and croquettes which have been done to death over the past two years at other establishments.<br/><br/>We ordered several dishes:<br/>Mushroom donuts<br/>Fava chips<br/>Blue cheese and honey on crisps<br/>Pork cheek<br/>Parfait<br/><br/>The food we ordered came out very quickly, and before we knew it, our table was full of the dishes we ordered. The dish sizes were decent - there is enough on each plate to share comfortably in a group of four. (We shared the above between two of us).<br/><br/>While I must commend them on their creativity in the menu, I found that each dish seemed to lack something. Either not enough salt, or too salty, deep fried food brown to the point of being unhealthy etc. Perhaps I went on an off night, so I will probably come back another time to see whether their food is any different. <br/><br/>Drinks on the other hand are pretty decent and I am yet (hopefully never) to be disappointed.

Every business trip to Perth is exciting for several reasons. Having lived in Perth most of my life there are opportunities to catch up with family and friends. It might be Monday tonight, but some of my closest friends have made the effort to get into Northbridge after work for a quick feed and a couple of beers.

Went on a Monday evening with a friend. It was very quiet but it had a great atmosphere and the service was quick and friendly. We ordered the mushroom donuts and garlic clams, both delicious and quite filling! Very interesting and diverse food menu. Will definitely be back soon!

My favourite savoury dish of the night was the yellow fish curry. The colour was a beautiful vibrant yellow and the curry sauce was packed with flavours. Whilst eating the dish we discovered there was very little fish in the curry, but what we did get was very soft fillets that were melt-in-your mouth. I really liked the pineapples in the dish adding a refreshing hit to the flavours. The dish was also served with deep fried gooey rice balls, which weren't so much balls as they were clumps. The charred bits were full of flavour, but the texture, unexpected, it was between overcooked rice and glutinous rice balls (mochi balls).
Kate
Went here with my partner to have celebratory birthday dinner. Everything we ordered was delicious, the coconut chocolate ganache was exceptional. The service was excellent. Compared to everywhere else in perth the prices are very affordable and extremely generous servings - I couldn't finish my main! Would return/recommend :)

an awesome tapas joint with an awesome setting. the restaurant/bar leads to an outside garden which extends upstairs so you can see some nice city views.<br/>food is a tad expensive, but you get what you paid for....DELICIOUS FOOD<br/><br/>highly recommended

Wow I have no idea where the below reviewer was, or what he was on, or in fact was it a very jealous competitor, or  someone who is looking too closely at the staff and clearly not at his food perhaps? second, there is no entree or main from memory, it is share plates . I have been here many times and it has been superb every time and in every way, I dont care what the staff look like, as long as the food and service is very good as it is every time here, the food is very sophoistacated  and modern, perhaps you are in the wrong place and need to be somewhere a little more sedate, if you are open minded and love good food, then don't be put off by the questionable review below it is fantastic in every way

BIG HAT... NO CATTLE !!!!<br/><br/>A really Sub-Standard (sorry) night.<br/><br/>From the utterly ludicrous chairs that required a ladder to slide into to Starlet #1 who could barely speak a word of English.<br/><br/>We had the bizarre situation of only being able to see the top of the head of Starlet #2 who was trying to take the drink orders. The table was SO high! <br/><br/>Starlet #1 came back three times to check our food selections... and still got it wrong! I received a (very ordinary) entree I hadn't ordered and a fellow-diner had his main course slapped down the same time as his entree.<br/><br/>The food was bland and uninteresting. Yes, Randy Newman... Big Hat, No Cattle.<br/><br/>My dessert was so damn COLD I looked down expecting to see the team of huskies that had hauled it to the table... at least they'd have been smiling and wagging their tails!<br/><br/>A ton of ATTITUDE here... as in BAD. They don't seem to like anyone over the age of 30 stepping in the door.<br/><br/>Lots of hats, as in baseball caps worn backwards, and thousands of square miles of tattoos... that's staff, not patrons.<br/><br/>But hell, who cares about the latter anyway?<br/><br/>Hey Boys and Girls, one day you won't see 20 again either.
Alyce
Great venue, amazing cocktails, food is on the expensive side for what you get. Outstanding staff - go above and beyond ordinary service so thank you for being amazing! The cocktails are amazing here - don't miss the opportunity to have one of their carafe. Had the little miss sunshine and it was delicious. Food wasn't bad - sadly a bit pricey for what you get but good atmosphere!

Went here a couple of months back for a weekend lunch and the experience was great. Nice layout, great beer garden and food with a twist. Love all these new places popping up with the Melbourne feel
The Food Enthusiasts
The Standard is a relatively new establishment on Roe Street in Northbridge serving Modern Australian cuisine. We've had The Standard on our bucket list of new places to try in Perth since it opened and we were very excited to give it a go! With the food scene expanding so much in Perth lately, we wanted to see how The Standard measured up against other new restaurants.
Stuffyaface
Must return for food. We wondered on in for a drink here while we waited for our table at a nearby restaurant. We sat at the bar for a drink and watched the chefs at work and WOW, we were drooling in our seats, the smells, the trays of food being prepared and the precision of their work was impressive. We considered cancelling our reservation and grabbing a menu but didn.t. The crowd was a mix of groups, girls catch ups and a few couples. Its a moody venue but I'd be comfortable taking anyone there. The fava chips and garlic clams are now on my must try list
Shoey Kay
Good, wine list, cocktails and atmosphere all amazing! If you want to enjoy some conversation with your meal avoid a weekend dinner as the delineation between bar and restaurant isn't clear.
Queen Of Bad Timing
Absolutely stunning in it's colour, the beef carpaccio ($14.00) was melt in your mouth and bursting with freshness. Comprised of Ranger Valley beef rubbed in coriander seed, paprika and peppercorns, then seared and shaved, served with dollops of harissa cream, pea shoots and Pedro Ximenez caviar.
Petersj141
It never disappoints. I have been going here for a while now and honestly never disappoints,<br/>The food is simple but tasty and the venue has a great vibe.<br/><br/>Customer service good use a bit of improvement it's good but could be better.

Despite staff being a little too laid back, making it a bit unprofessional, we had a lovely night. Food was excellent and of great quality. The octopus salad and fish curry were the highlights. The fava chips I'd take or leave. Overall a nice restaurant with good food.

10/10 ... really worth a visit!. 10/10 for food/venue/service/value for money. What a cool place. We went with 10 diners and all loved our food. Innovative Tapas style food. <br/><br/>We will definitely back!

Restaurant:  The Standard Comments:  It was a lovely Saturday afternoon and Laura had invited myself and a few other bloggers and instagram foodies to do a tasting of the new winter menu at the Standard. I had only been to the Standard twice prior to today and the most memorable dish for me was the chicken grill with rice noodles, it was simple and delicious. Today we got to try 7 items on the new winter menu and my favourites would have to be the beef carpaccio, the mushroom doughnuts and the passion parfait. Yes, you read that correctly. Mushroom doughnuts. Yum!!! A special thanks to John and Laura for organising this and chef Chase for the delicious food. Another thing I really like about this place is the layout (the upstairs section with some great views in particular). Oh and they have nice hand soap (very important).  Beef carpaccio, harissa, pedro ximenez - $14 Beef carpaccio, harissa, pedro ximenez - $14 Charred octopus, cauliflower, sour carrot, dill & pea - $17 Charred octopus, cauliflower, sour carrot, dill & pea - $17

Arriving at The Standard we are met with some surprisingly delicious smells. Freshly baked bread isn’t something I’d usually associate with a bar – but this is a bar with a reputation for exceptional food. There’s a second bar outside – housed in a shipping container. We head upstairs to the top of the container and grab a sort-after table on the deck, for a stunning view of the city skyline. The Standard is sophisticated, yet relaxed. Polished, yet gritty.

Great place, friendly service(mostly) but your seafood stinks. I love the feel of this place. Relaxed and anyone seems welcome. Too noisy inside. Drinks are great and food generous tasty servings. But all your seafood dishes smelt really fishy and the fish and prawn burger...oh nasty funky smell and taste.
Brigit
Lovely attentive service, great food and wine. I really like this place. I've been for drinks a few times but had dinner for the first time last week and it was good. The famous fava bean chips are awesome, and the wine list is always interesting. It's a great addition to the area.

Brilliant. Went to The Standard to have a quiet dinner for a friends birthday and we all left super impressed. Our waiter, Simon, was knowledgeable and attentive and spot on with his recommendations, even catering his picks to suit my partner who has a shell fish allergy. We hoovered down the fava chips, eggplant salad, pork croquettes and beef caparccio and although there was a small wait on the brisket it was definitely worth it. Our night was topped off with a complimentary dessert for the birthday girl. Will definitely be going back and spreading the word on this gem!
New To Perth
Great little find. Now living in Northbridge it was great to stumble upon this venue. Great atmosphere I only had a few snacks that were spot on but menu looks good. Will be back
Lucyscott321
...we went to The Standard for dinner. You should definitely try the pork croquettes, chicken grill and lamb belly for some seriously scrumptious food. The sweet and sour eggplant was probably the favourite though. Their Pimms Punch was delightfully refreshing and bonus points have to be dished out for giving us a fruit salad in every sip...
Trish
Great Food, atmosphere and the friendliest and helpful staff that I have met in a long term. A must go place in Perth.

Terrible service, mediocre food, won't recommend it at all. A couple of friends, my sister and I visited The Standard on Sunday night (8th March), to experience one of the "Talk of The Town" places in Perth. <br/>The waiter who took our order was very attentive and friendly, so we thought "what a great start to our night!"<br/>We ordered pork croquette, chicken wings and fava chips. The fave chip was quite nice despite it being slightly on the salty end of the spectrum. The chicken wings were disappointing because instead of giving us full sized chicken wings, it was 5 pieces of chicken wings that have been cut into halves and then halved again. So essentially we had 2.5 pieces of small halved chicken wings. The wings were dry too.<br/>The presentation of the pork croquettes was awesome, but we found bits of pork inside that were still pinkish. We notified one of the waiters about this. He told us he would check with the chef but he never came back to us. <br/>We were still dining when we noticed that 3-4 staff members were sitting at the bar, playing with their mobile phones and even gotten the bartender to make drinks for them! I personally think that it is unprofessional, by far the most unprofessional behaviour I have encountered from my experience dining out. Will not come back to this place and won't be recommending this place to anyone. I'm not even sure why this place is in the to 10 of "Talk of The Town" in Urbanspoon

Great cocktails, and the food was really nice. The beef carpaccio was beautiful and the charcuterie was amazing too, not too keen on the crab salad but apart from that the food was really good. The service was lovely and the atmosphere was great too. Overall I think The Standard is a great place to visit!
Daniel
Good Vibes, Ok Food. Great atmosphere and decor for a few drinks and small nibbles. However the main meals while reasonable in size and price they missed the mark on taste for me. Just an unusual combination of flavours with certain flavours being too overpowering.
Fancy
I loved it.. Friendly staff and it wasn't full of young pups with an attitude. <br/><br/>I had the crab salad with some kind of yummy crispy puff things, and some fava chips. Both were delish! <br/><br/>The cocktail carafes were super yummy too - although one had slivers of coconut which glued themselves attractively to my lips everytime I had a sip. <br/><br/>I thought the prices were great, given how much everyone complains about Perth being expensive. I'll defs go back!

Sometimes you have to take the bad with the good.... Overall, the food was lovely (the beef carpaccio was a real stand-out dish).<br/>Unfortunately though, the panna cotta either contained far too much gelatine or had been overcooked but the end result was inedible. When I raised this issue with with a waitress she took the dish away and sent the maître de over to talk to us. The maître de was rude and dismissive with our complaint. Her behaviour was unprofessional really soured our evening. To top things off, another customer had a complaint and when they left the restaurant, we watched her pull a face once they had turned away. Immaturity and rudeness have no place in fine dining. I understand that she may have been having a bad night but that really is no excuse to take it out on the customer.<br/>Would definitely return for the food but not the maître de.
Sarah Kelly
Disappointed. Looks like a nice place and staff weren't bad but pork croques came out cold and full of the pork fat, hardly any meat and then found a big bone and grizzel in one. <br/>Also both had fish burgers and they were not good at all. Greasy burger and strange taste. <br/>I don't like giving bad reviews but hopefully they will improve.

Been twice and loved it!. I have dined at The Standard on a Sunday and on a Friday evening with both times being memorable. The food is sensational along with the upstairs dining area with views over the city. The pork croquettes are a favourite along with the different wine and beer lists. Get along and check this one out!

Has fast become one of my favourites in Northbridge. The service can be a bit hit and miss, but don't let that deter you. The food is fantastic and good value for money. Excellent wine list. And I'm always a sucker for fairy lights.

Great Service, Great food, Great Atmosphere. We ordered the pre and post show menu which had a 2 course for $30 and 3 course option for $40. The servings at the standard far exceeded our expectations, they were massive! Great value for money and the service is exceptional. We were politely greeted, our drinks came within a resonable time frame, our food flew out of the kitchen, beautifully presented, extremely generous and absolutely delicious! The restaurant name is well and truly deserved, it is the standard! Compliments to the team at the standard, well done guys!

Love it! Fantastic food executed & presented with passion & enthusiasm. Love the space & Simon our server was excellent- knowledgable & friendly. Thank you for raising the bar for the Perth dining scene!

Impressive. I came to this venue when it first opened. It's hard to open a venue and tick all the boxes; I was so impressed when I returned tonight (some 4 months later for dinner before a Fringe show). The food was devine and the service was amazing. Honestly we could not fault our experience tonight... Please check The standard out!!! There is nothing standard about it... It's such a grounded but innovative venue for Northbridge.
Steven Harman
Hopefully this isn't 'The Standard'- tried to book a table. Got put on hold (phone placed on bench) to listen to the lovely noise of the restaurant for 4 glorious mins until I gave up the desire to eat here.
Katie Davison
Overpriced!! I was really looking forward to going to the standard.. But it's really nothing to rave about! Good service and great vibe- but $12 for 4 tiny chicken wings is not right.. A $45 carafe of sangria- which tasted like it wasn't even a standard drink it was that weak- delicious, yes... But worth $45? Absolutely not! Wouldn't be going back in a hurry unfortunately
Coff Dawg
One of the bar staff put a lot of peach schnapps in our pimms cup carafe which overpowered all the other flavours and made it taste disgusting, weird choice to put that in. The other staff looked like they knew what they were doing maybe it was just this one person.
Solidice
Bit pricey, food is average. The place has a funky vibe. However, it is a bit on the expensive side. A few snack sized meals and a drink each will set you back about $100. Food is good, but nothing to brag about!
Facebook User
Not bad. This place is probably one of the good tapa places I've been to, which I find confusing when I see other people saying it's overpriced for their portion size. Decent. Will be back.
Ludakris83
Overrated and overpriced!. Overall service and food quality was good, however the price and portion size were disappointing. Four dishes for four adults left both our stomachs and wallets empty. Add on drinks, and $45 gets you a tiny carafe of watered down cocktail. On a positive, the decor and ambiance was nice, but I don't think I'll be returning.
Hannah Etchells
Stunning fit-out and furnishings! And delicious, well-priced food. The prettiest bathrooms I've ever been in. The only downside was the sliiiight waft of bin smell occasionally from the alley out the back (and only because we were sitting near the back entrance - I'd recommend instead sitting inside or up on top of the shipping container)
Perthfoodreview
Great bar for a drink!. Great atmosphere and staff were attentive and friendly for a busy Saturday night. But I wouldn't come for the food. It was ok (fish burger was dreadful) but pork croquettes and other dishes we tried were great. Our group was after a good restaurant for dinner and unfortunately this really wasn't the place (all sharing/picking food and no 'mains'). I would definitely recommend for drinks and a small bite though!
WenJ
Bad Fish Burger.. Went there for a friend's bday drink and dinner - good experience in general.<br/><br/>Staff are attentive, satisfied with most food and drinks.<br/><br/>BUT did not like the fish burger at all. group of 15, 3 fish burgers were ordered. Non of us liked it. way too salty and tasted weird. Lamb belly was quite alright.<br/><br/>won't recommend fish burger but other stuff seem to be ok.
Georgie
Food was pretty tasty (except for the crab salad) but overpriced. Decor is cool. Only thing lacking is the service- why do Perth waitstaff (generalization, but pretty accurate a lot of the time) feel the need to belittle/patronize their customers? Nice drinks though.
HungryInLeederville
Come For Drinks And Nibbles, Probably Not For Dinner. Positives first, then moving onto the bad bits!<br/>Gorgeous fit out both internally and externally - sitting at a table on the top deck outside is the perfect place to be on a summer evening!<br/>Our booked table inside was served by an excellent and attentive waitress. <br/>Music was pretty eclectic and (for me) really enjoyable - just loud enough to flit your attention away from conversations every now and then without but intrusive.<br/>Drinks prices were middle-of-the-road, with an expected selection for this type of place.<br/>The food is expensive for the serving sizes. Plenty of the dishes were fine with stand-outs including the chicken grill and the clams (we got a second serving due to small size) but the salads were both average (in particular the spanner crab salad has compressed discs of crab), the croquettes were tasty but TINY at $4 a pop and if we didn't get 2 servings of bread we'd be hungry.<br/><br/>I'd return again especially if the weather is summery, but probably only for drinks and nibblies as there are other places that do better quality food with larger portion sizes.

Good for perth people. I really like this place. In the outside courtyard there are fabulous views of city buildings. Its obviously a renovated garage, and there are throwbacks to the previous use throughout the design. Its very nicely done but doesn't have a pretentious feel to it. The staff are all friendly.<br/>Unfortunately the wait staff stuffed up our order and didn't order the second half. Which led to a few mroe drinks than we needed whilst we waited. But the food was all good when it arrived. I will be back again, I like it.

More misses than hits, average experience.. Dinner at The Standard Perth, Northbridge @thestandardperth//more photos and food reviews at Instagram @mayybites!<br/><br/>Blue goats' cheese, oat cracker, honey, celery - great cheese and definitely one for a blue cheese lover! But way too little of it, more oat crackers and certainly did not have celery and honey. Abit disappointed.<br/><br/>Pork Croquettes, beetroot, horseradish, hazelnuts - i dont have much to say except it really wasnt good at all. Weird jelly texture/fats (?) within croquettes, didnt taste great at all.<br/><br/>Lamb Belly, Sweet & Sour Eggplant, Grapefruit @thestandardperth - this was the star dish of evening. The salad is reminiscent of a Singaporean dish called 'Rojak' and absolutely delicious. Great sweet and sour flavour, the fried eggplant has a very unique texture too. Lamb Belly is also done well. Not much grapefruit though but I ain't complaining ;)<br/><br/>36 pork, whitlof, onion, puffed grains @thestandardperth - a rather bland dish. The pork is tough and overall, not a fan at all. Another letdown..<br/><br/>Fava chips, mushroom ketchup and aioli @thestandardperth - the most reasonable priced and best for value dish! Very generous portion, and absolutely delicious. It feels you right up as well. <br/>My overall dinner experience at The Standard, Northbridge on an early Saturday night is a 5/10.
FoodGloriousFood
Gave it another go, still not impressed. I really don't see the appeal of this place, yet everyone is raving about it - maybe because it's new? 'Professional' food bloggers cant be trusted; giving false reviews for comps on food.<br/><br/>The service here the other day (Saturday at 3pm) was atrocious from the bar staff, considering it wasn't busy. Two bar staff on, one making cocktails, the other one...doing nothing. I stood at the bar for about 6 minutes, on my own, prompting her three times, to which she replied ''ín a minute''. Well, its been six already, love.<br/><br/>Takes my order; 1 glass of wine, 1 pistonhead, 1 cider. A further five minutes to get them. F**king atrocious. How does it take so long for bottles drinks and a glass of wine, were you crushing the grapes with your feet out the back?<br/><br/>The guy who brought out our bread and chicken wings however, understood service. Chicken wings were ok, bread was nice, didn't like the lamb belly; fat wasn't rendered.<br/><br/>Still don't like the interior.<br/><br/><br/>-----04 Jan, 2015-----<br/><br/>Really?. I really don't see the point in this place once the feeling of it being new wears off.<br/><br/>Décor isn't all that, menu is tacky - looks like you're looking through a kaleidoscope.<br/><br/>As for the food. Well, the 36 hour pork belly was atrocious. It was dry as anything, probably the worst pork dish I've ever tasted. If you go for pork belly, you expect it to be succulent, especially if its cooked over 36 hours. But this was worse than cardboard, and had no flavour. Extremely unimpressed.<br/><br/>The chicken salad had plenty of flavour - some sort of Vietnamese inspiration, I would eat that again for sure, and definitely the chicken wings, they were boneless and beautiful. But the pork, it left a really bad impression on me so much that I wont venture here again. Small bars are starting to become annoying now, when the product they put out is under par and the service poor. However, this place is new so there will be some teething issues.

Overpriced and underwhelmed. We ate the The Standard recently and were looking forward to a new tapas and wince bar. <br/>What we encountered, sadly, was overpriced and underwhelming. <br/><br/>The carafe cocktail selection was impressive, but at $45 for "1L" that really is 500ml of ice was taking the proverbial. <br/>The group of 4 ordered 8 dishes and all, other than the chicken grill, was less than substantial - even for tapas. There was very little or no morel of carb to compliment what was on the plate and the $25 lamb belly tasted like a cheap and nasty cut of meat that's not even in the same category as pork belly. <br/><br/>the final bill of well over $200 would have been ok had we all not left hungry and in search for more food from another venue.
Luke Jackson
Best venue in northbridge. Had nye there last night and had one of best nights ever. The look of the place is really cool, the service we received was by far the best I have had for a very long time, wine flowed, staff super attentive and friendly, food spot on, wine list awesome. Thank you so much to all the staff at the standard, myself and friends couldn't thank you enough. Cheers.

It was a Monday night, we did a walk by the seemingly closed venue. There were two young guys smoking out the front when a hapless older couple peered into the dimly lit restaurant and opened the front door. One of the young guys said, very rudely, a number of times, 'we're closed, we're closed!' <br/><br/>A young lady from within the restaurant ran to the front door and apologized, saying that a staff function was on, while the guy out the front kept on; 'geez, how hard is it to understand that we are closed?' <br/><br/>Look buddy, all you had to say was, politely, 'I'm sorry, but we have a staff only function on tonight.' Your rude and heavily accented rant was inappropriate and rude. It wasn't even aimed at me and I'm never going to step foot in this place.

Newest must do. Perfect for a summer night with fantastic views and good selection of tapas style food.<br/>Staff are still learning the ropes but very attentive and polite, which goes a long way these days.<br/>Put it on the list.

The (low) standard. Went there last nite. service was good except had to wait for a table but fair enough since it's popular at the moment. food wasn't worth the price. wait 3 months and you won't have to worry about getting a table.

Finally something Excellent!. Hey haters below, I smell jealous competitors or just cynical boring lonesome meddlers - snore. We all absolutely loved it and had the best night since forever. Excited to fiiiiinally be able to go to a bar that has it all in spades but keep it relaxed. Top service, beautiful food, great music, cool fit out. The kitchen is open always too - hello world! Can't wait to try the garden in summer.
Jules
The food is over engineered. We didn't enjoy any of the 3 dishes we ordered. Nice bar though and outdoor area looks promising. Service was great. Would go back, but only for drinks. Unless the menu was overhauled I wouldn't recommend this place at all.
Mili
Disappointed. With the restaurant being new in the block and in close proximity to Pleaded To Meet You my expectations were not meet when I visited the Standard after seeing a film at the British Film Festival. The restaurant was pretty well full. We got a table without waiting . Service was A1- couldn't fault. To read the menu I had to use my touch on my phone. The tea light on the table was more for effect. The food was presented well but nothing new and flavours did not wow . We had pork croquettes and charcuterie board.
Lemon Red
Great place, wonderful staff, awesome food. The drinks list is top notch, you can tell they have gone to a lot of trouble to source a fine range of bottled beers and ciders and even a Jamaican ginger beer. There could be more local beers and some tap beer too, though I hear the taps are on the way. Fingers crossed. The front of house staff are very approachable and friendly, I sat at the bar and had an enjoyable chat with the bar man over my IPA and croquettes which were delightfully gelatinous on the inside, salty and crunchy with the hazelnut dukkah and the beetroot purée was, well, beetrooty. Yum! Can't wait for the beer garden to open up, from what I can see its a good mix of urban and rural. With views of graffiti laden walls in the distance through potted green shrubs and plants an eclectic mix. These guys are doing a great job, what a wonderful addition to the Perth bar scene.

Setting the Standard ... HIGH!. Don't let the appearance of the shop front fool you ... this place knows how to serve up a mean old fashioned and food to match. We decided to pop in here for a last minute decision dinner option and were not disappointed.<br/><br/>Even though the fit out is what you could describe as more minimalist compared to some of the other new offerings in Northbridge, The Standard excels itself on the quality of its food and drinks.<br/><br/>It is table service here and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The place does fill up before you know it though so maybe try to arrive not long after 6pm for dinner. The croquettes and lamb belly were amazing and the garlic clams topped it all off. The carpaccio was amazing also.<br/><br/>Drinks were made to perfection and we could have no complaints in this department. With a beer garden seating 200 people on the way in mid November this place will definitely be on my return list in the near future.
Antony
Classy lunch today. Smart people are running the kitchen and front of house. Love the deco touches and cutlery. Croquettes and lamb with the puffed eggplant were gutsy and cunningly produced. Dunking housemade bread into the cider laden sauce of the clams was a pleasure. Clever and delicious desserts, too. Drinks list is interesting and service friendly and knowledgeable. In a word: exciting.
Donovan De Souza
..the Standard exceeded our expectations, serving up clever, technical food so effortlessly and casually that you don't even notice how thoroughly modern a lot of it is. Being someone who loves Modernist cooking I'm very open to new techniques and ideas, however the subtle and often hidden Modernism on display here makes it very accessible - even for those who would usually view such touches as unnecessary frou-frou.
LittleGirlBigFood
From the outside the Standard is nothing to write home about. It is a white building with a strange triangular facade. On the inside however it is beautiful. Light and airey - a perfect location for all your summer drink and nibble needs....there are no cocktails per say. Instead The Standard serves carafes of mixes that remind me of an English garden party. ...To eat, oh to eat, my favourite part...All in all I enjoyed The Standard. I have heard that it is going to be developing quite some more in the following weeks and come summer this really will be the place to go for your evening and sunday drinks. Keep an ear out for news on a possible rooftop bar. From what I heard this place is going to rock.
Take Me To Foodie Heaven
On a Friday evening, I decided to catch up with my friend, Giuls over dinner and drinks at The Standard, a newly opened bar and restaurant along Roe Street at Northbridge. One step inside The Standard and the atmosphere is bustling with people hanging out on a Friday night and having post work drinks and food to celebrate the end of another week. When you walk past the kitchen and bar, a door takes you to the outdoor garden where you can enjoy your food and drinks under the stars or head up the stairs to get views of Perth City and Northbridge. Fingers cross that it doesn’t rain and it will be perfect! When we first arrived, Giuls and I were seated at the outdoor garden upstairs. The atmosphere was lovely with a nice, cool breeze. Unfortunately, not long after we placed our orders, it started pouring down and we had to be moved inside to be seated at the bar at first and then a table when it was available. The Standard serves Carafes of mixes for 3-4 people but if you would like a single serve, they can also do it for $16. I had the Garden State which comprises of Tanqueray Gin, basil, lime, elderflower and liqueur. It was really light, fresh and had a nice balance of sweetness which definitely has the essence and feel of springtime. My friend Giuls had the Camden Gentleman’s Wit Beer ($10).

The Standard is a perfect example of the direction that Perth’s bar scene is moving towards. Roe street has been unloved for a long while, with memories of a lively street housing great spots such as the old Perth Markets long fading away.

Likes: house-made crisps, charcuterie board, gorgeous outdoor dining area; Dislikes: spanner crab salad was not great; Overall: great place to share tapas and drinks with friends in Northbridge, without an outrageous pricetag
Perth Munchkin
The dishes soon started to arrive in an exciting flurry. Exciting because everything looked delicious and it was tricky business to know where to start. We kicked things off with the spanner crab salad. It did present differently to what I had imagined, mainly I suppose because I’m used to seeing shredded crab in salad. I quite liked the chunky compressed disks of crab though that had been elegantly stacked throughout the greenery. It was all so artistic as if each sprig of radicchio and the microherbs had been perfectly placed just so in the dish. And the flavours were beautiful. There was a delicious elegance to the whole plate, with the slight bitterness from the radicchio offset by the sweet citrus slices and a decadent creaminess from the few dollops of buttermilk.
Foodie Cravings
I perhaps also had higher expectations as I love the food from Five Bar who are partly owned by these guys. Featured in the middle is burger boy’s Twenty with The Lot burger which had a Wagyu Beef Patty, Farm house Gold Cheese, Pickles, Fried Egg and House made Ketchup in a Glazed Bun $18. It usually comes with onion rings inside the burger but burger boy went without.

Wings can be messy to eat, but these were easy – succulent chicken lollipops. The sour pickled apple was cooling and balanced the sweet, spicy marinade. Forget your cutlery, just pick ‘em up with fingers.

The Standard Bar Garden Kitchen is a baby in the bar scene but it punches above its weight...it has a lovely vibe and a nice cosy garden courtyard...We started off the afternoon with a jug of Little Miss Sunshine – gin, citrus sherbet, grapefruit, topped with bubbles – it was a little bit of sunshine in your mouth. The Standard Bar’s menu is very modern Australian with definitely not your normal bar food, it’s a little bit fancy of course like any wonderful things in life, its perfect for sharing.
