Everything perfect. Would recommend to anybody if you loved Japanese food
I love Fatty Tuna and this is one of the few place around the serves the dish. Actually, this is the best place to eat sashimi and sushi in Perth! Place has modern design but not big, so booking is essential. We did order too many for 3 people, but every dish was very good with the SushiđŁ as the highlightđ« of the night.
One of my favourite things about James Parker is the decor. The artistic round arch entrance is a real statement and gives the restaurant a high end feel when you walk in. Came for dinner for 2 during the week and we shared the following:
Spicy Endamame - generous portion, tasty.
Grilled kingfish - simple, light but nothing overly special.
Prawn tempura sushi roll - again a generous serving, flavour was a bit lacking unfortunately.
Prawn tempura - fresh, simple.
Fresh Tuna aburi - delicious, my favourite dish of the night.
Grilled scampi and oysters - the oysters were a bit bland, scampi were however very tasty (& combined with melted cheese which somehow worked).
We finished the night with the Yuzu cheesecake which was light and fresh. Service although polite was a little hit and miss, and price is a little on the steeper side. Whilst I have eaten better Japanese in Perth, the quality of the food is there & presentation of the dishes was excellent.
Delicious food. Ambience is also very good. Design of the place is modern. Fresh sashimi and they do a good range of beers. The unagi was so good!!!
I would say this place has the freshest sashimi in Perth. I always get the mix sashimi with another serve of otoro. Got to have sake with it! Or even nice premium Yebisu beer. Other dishes I enjoy are spider roll and their udon.
Ambiance was terrific. Price was a bit steep for the portion. Service was not fast, waitress left out an order, all else was good. Had a little sake in a pot like cup that drips into a sake cup, pretty interesting. Unadon was served the way we had it in Tokyo, with a kettle of soup. Nice
Excellent food and decent service. Went there for my boyfriendâs birthday. It was a bit crowded when we arrived and had to wait a bit despite the reservation, but the staff was friendly and made our time there a delight. Restaurant had a very nice atmosphere and ambiance-filled music, a change from the usual atmosphere in restaurants, which we appreciated. Would definitely recommend visiting when less crowded.
Good food, fresh produce, good menu variety and choices and a wide range of Japanese alcohol. Only complain- tables are almost right next to each other.
One of the best fine dining Japanese restaurants in Perth. High quality, amazing food! Salmon was thick and fresh, ordered 3 different types of sushi rolls, their portions were decent which surprisingly was enough for 4 people. A little disappointed with the tempura as Iâd expect it to be bigger sized juicy thick prawns but all in all, would definitely recommend trying this place out! On top of that, excellent service and great ambience with immaculate interior designs.
My favourite Japanese in Perth. Nice fine dining with a casual atmosphere. Food is spectacular and of a really high quality, which is really hit and miss at other places in Perth. Highly recommended
What a sensational treat. Unable to name all the amazing dishes and sauces but absolute standouts were the soft shell crab, JP duck, wagyu sushi roll, cold octopus in some phenomenal sauce. Best sauce? Hands down the anchovy sauce that comes with the yam potato fries. Would prolly skip dessert next time. Beautifully presented food and artfully done sushi. A pleasure to watch them at work. Service is wonderful as well. Well worth a second, third, fourth trip! Thank you for a beautiful meal!
Having not been to Perth for a few years I was pleasantly surprised by the much improved food scene this time round, without paying iron ore prices. Simply put, James Parker sushi X Sake was impressive. I had 10 pieces of nigiri, outstanding pieces were the otoro, hotate, ikura. The aburi salmon, anago, hiramasa and scampi were excellent, but not unique. I was a bit let down by the uni, which were imported from Chili when they are actually in season in Australia at the moment. They were dark, small and a little bitter.
The service was pleasant and attentive enough, although as I was sitting at the sushi bar, getting attention wasnât too trying.
The mochi ice cream were unfortunately a let down, the ice cream was obviously of low quality, with poor texture due to undissolved sugars. Rather disappointing end to what would have been a 4.5 star experience.
Premium Japanese food here! We sat at the bar counter and watched the chefs prepare the food. You can see how much pride they take in preparing the food - cutting up each slice of the fish and the way they assemble the rolls. Sashimi was really fresh and the rolls had balanced flavours. Presentation on point for each dish too!
Enjoyable experience. Staff were friendly. Enjoyed all our dishes but would go back just for the salmon sashimi and prawn and vegetable tempura
You do have to make a booking in advance. The food was really good, we had the edamame and lotus chips (yum), salmon sashimi, tempura, chicken karage and wagyu beef croquette (these were all delicious). The volcano sushi was good too. We also had the wagyu don, this was the only one I thought was underwhelming, but my friend liked it. It didnât come with any sauce so it fell a bit flat for me but depends on what you like. The parfait was delicious đđŒ ambience was great, so romantic and such a good vibe
This is definitely one of my top Japanese spots in Perth. I really loved the sashimi especially the tuna belly. I also recommend the unagi/eel don and wagyu beef tataki. All the dishes though were really delicious. I also love matcha so I was really happy with the matcha parfait which was actually quite light even with all the glutinous rice balls.
The service is lovely and I love the decor and design of the restaurant. I do recommend to make a booking beforehand as the place gets quite busy!!
Really nice food. Enjoyed all the dishes we ordered tonight. I particularly like JP's duck, seafood don and grilled kingfish. Nice service as well, will definitely go there again.

Review as a fine dining sushi bar. Most tables are reserved and limited for walk-ins. The menu looks impressive with wayugu beef focus. Ingredients used are impressive but the nigiri craft has room for improvement. Customer service definitely needs attention as for fine dining experience.
Everything was perfect, service and food outstanding. Recommend the spicy tuna roll and mixed sashimi, the gyoza is amazing! If it's the two of you recommend sitting in front of the sushi chef to get a hit of a show as well

We booked a reservation to eat here at around 6pm, and received a confirmation call at around 4pm to ask if we wanted to sit at the sushi bar or on a regular table - we said the sushi bar, of course, and were so glad we did.
Eating by the sushi bar made the experience a lot more special. We were able to witness the sushi chefs prepare the meals and have them personally serve it to us directly over the bar.
My partner and I ordered the fresh tuna aburi, assorted JP sashimi, nigiyaka natto, sushi sandwich, and the yuzu cheese cake. We also ordered a plum alcohol.
The waiters at the restaurant have impeccable politeness. They all welcome you enthusiastically into the restaurant, and when taking orders they will kneel down beside you.
Overall the sashimi was fresh, and each element on the dishes (tuna aburi and assorted sashimi) complemented one another really well. The assorted sashimi was also served with a generous portion of salmon roe.
The nigiyaka natto was quite interesting. The waitress even warned us prior that there would be natto in the dish and if we were okay with it. It was my partner and Iâs first time trying natto. It was unusual, different to what I had expected. The dish was also served with a portion of âbrandedâ seaweed. Overall wasnât really to our taste, but at least we know what natto tastes like now.
The sushi sandwich was a fun idea. It wasnât the highlight of the night, nothing special but still tasty. The âsandwichâ was a light crispy wafer that adds a nice crunch to the filling.
The yuzu cheesecake was, to be honest, yummy, creamy and soft, but nothing special. The citrus sorbet was a nice complement to the cheesecake to enhance the âsournessâ.
This place serves very good Japanese dishes some of which are not commonly found in other restaurants. Quality is exceptional but are a tad pricey.

This is not my first time dinning in James Parker Sushi x Sake restaurant.
When you booked JP restaurant you only have a 2 hour sitting in the restaurant.
We were greeted by the staff and lead to a table by the window.
We had a good time dinning at this restaurant.
We ordered the sea urchin, sashimi selection dish, deep fried camembert cheese, beef tataki, and deep fried dish with selection of vegetables and seafood.
The overall experience of the food is amazing. The only dish that we didnât quite like was the deep fried dish with the selection of vegetables and seafood.
We will return again for another experience.
Heard a lot of this place and finally get the chance to try it myself with a group of friends. We started off with deep fried wagyu and potato as well as the chicken karaage which were quite average. However we quite like the maguro tsukune Japanese style and their gyoza as they're both tasty and I don't think you can find the maguro tsukune anywhere else in perth. We also shared some sushi rolls - aburi salmon roll, volcano roll, eel dragon roll, spicy tuna roll, soft shell crab spider roll and aburi wagyu roll. Our favourites and something different from this place on their rolls are probably the salmon, eel, tuna and wagyu roll. Our most favourite has to be the salmon and wagyu aburi which were really good that we finished them within minutes, the eel and tuna roll is also pretty good combination of flavour. We will come back for the rolls for sure!

By dar the best sushi place ive been to. Presentation is good. Food are fresh, ambience cozy, just that if only the uni is better, i would have given 4.5
Great experience! Nothing to fault except maybe the bill at the end. Food is amazing and service what you would expect from such a place but thought the prices were a touch to high? Bill was just a bit over $200 for 4 of us which did include a couple of flasks of sake. Want a special night with good Japanese food. Please go here!

Had aburi wagyu rolls, prawn anago asparagus tempura salad and fresh tuna aburi.
Wagyu roll was a stood out. The beef in the roll was perfectly seared and well intensified by the sweetness of the sauce. The ginger came with the rolls added some flavours to it.
The prawn was lightly batterred and tender, and nicely combined with avocado, salad and dressing.

Will definitely be back! Absolutely enjoyed my time at James Parker. Service was prompt & waiters were lovely & helpful in helping pick out popular dishes. Absolutely loved the aburi & the cold udon. Will come back and try the sashimi. Price point is more than reasonable for the quality & serving size. Would recommend
Food came out really quickly. The sashimi was really fresh. Tataki with ponzu sauce/jelly was another highlight. Free refills on the hot Japanese tea was a nice bonus. 5 dishes for $116. Not too bad for the quality! Lots of Japanese customers too so that's always a good sign.
Abit of a slow start with organising a table we booked, but no big issue. For a Tuesday, the place was bustling with activity.
Ambience and service was great, the food was good for what we paid. I suspect our dinning experience would improve once we worked out our favourites.

Second time back and loved it! Food standard and service did not falter. Portions are surprisingly substantial for the price and what is expected from a Japanese restaurant. Only 1 downside is that we weren't too fond of their range of sushi rolls, and didn't like the one we had.
We went here for a special occasion as a couple. The food came out fresh we had the gyoza , sashimi , octopus and wagyu roll and clam soup. It felt authentic along with the modern twist without it hurting the subtle traditional flavours of japanese food.
My only con with this place was portion size was quite small.
Service was quick and efficient flavours were all there but a bigger portion size would be perfect.

This restaurant is highly recommended due to the high quality of food. The taste is very fresh and natural, taste no msg at all.
Also love the lotus root chips! Agendashi tofu also tastes very authentic! For the main, the cold dip noodle was beautiful, pretty sure it is a handmade noodle with the flavored-rich broth! Delicious.

We enjoyed our dinner at James  Parker Sushi & Sake. Upon entering the restaurant, we were already impressed by it's interior and their friendly staff. This is not your usual suburban Japanese restaurant. Great variety and interesting menu, I was already planning my next visit while deliberating what to order for the night.Â
Highlight: Chawan mushi, Sea Urchin, slow cooked egg with dashi jelly, Cold udon, homemade tofu and aburi sushi
Can't get over their dashi, too tasty! We made a mistake by sharing 1 chawan mushi between us, we wanted all to ourselves. Our mouth were popping umami flavour when slurping down the sea urchin with dashi jelly, a must-try dish! We are big fans of cold soba noodles, but haven't had any cold udon before. This is not your usual thick and round udon noodles, Â the Inariwa udon has great texture and the dipping broth goes really well with it. Â All the dishes were presented beautifully and the sashimi was really fresh. There were no fault in their food.
Staff were really friendly and courteous, the whole experience would be perfect if only staff are more confident in explaining dishes to us.Â
We will definitely be back to try some other interesting dishes!
really delicious food, pretty huge menu as well. we had dinner here on a quiet monday evening and it was awesome. food came out roughly 10 minutes after ordering and everything was delicious, service was on point too. highlights include the wagyu steak and the aburi platter. would definitely return to try more.

Good place to get drunk on Sake and full on amazing food! I recommend this for people who would like a nice Japanese meal before heading out to town!
We ordered the volcano roll, spider roll, minced tuna balls things and octopus tempura for both of us. Obviously we over ordered! The food was excellent but wish the waitress had warned us about portion sizes (or we should've asked!). Tuna ball things were a standout. We will definitely be back again to try the noodle dishes and sushi.

Top notch food with equally outstanding service and ambience to match. Request to sit in front of the sushi chefs when making a booking because it is quite a feast for both your palette, with the freshest seafood, and your eyes with the sublime culinary prowess and meticulous preparation from the sushi chefs.
Amazing quality dishes! Ordered plenty when I went with my partner and family! Everything was delicious! Unfortunately they don't have any of your usual bento set or udon options on the menu, but they have really great sushi! Everything we ordered tasted great, there was not one dish I didn't like! It is a little bit pricey guys, but definitely worth the experience dining here!

Authentic Japanese on the quieter side of Northbridge. You can watch the Japanese masters make your meal in front of you. Amazing interior design makes you feel ike a celebrity as you walk in. Fresh produce and a must-visit for lovers of real Nippon food.
I would say this is the best Japanese restaurant in Perth. Reasonable price with quality foods. Nice atmosphere as well. Waiters has provided exceptional customer services.
My friend and I decided to go to this gem of a place about 1 week ago. Our orders were amazingly well crafted, freshly prepared and pleasing to both our eyes and tastebuds! Staffs were very friendly and knowledgeable in informing us about some unique ingredients and sake when we asked them. Simply can't fault this place!
I have already booked again to go back to try the rest of their gorgeous menu and drinks selection. It promises to be yet another of my Japanese food adventure! If you are a Japanese food fanatic then this place is the place to be to satisfy that craving!
Very impressive Japanese restaurant, we had a superb dining experience.
Booked a week in advance knowing how busy they get and we got a call on the day to confirm.
Showed up at 7 sharp and we were greeted and seated. Service was immaculate and the food wow the food. Every dish was prepared beautifully, fresh and tasty.
Strongly recommended: sea urchin yuba ontama with dashi jelly, that foodgasm is real! And the gyoza oh the gyoza, it was so juicy. I burned my tongue but couldn't stop eating. The ponzu complemented the gyoza well.
Desserts were delicious but not excessively sweet. Just right for us.
I'll certainly be back for more of this Japanese deliciousness!

this is my favourite Japanese restaurant for sushi! the selection is amazing and reflects on how fresh their food is. I went on a Wednesday with no booking after 6pm, food came out fast as we sat in front of the sushi bar, which I highly recommend if seating for two people dining. We ordered salmon roll which had big fish eggs that popped in your mouth. Octopus tempura, udon, scallop aburi and clam miso was ordered, all delicious! Sushi roll price is so efficient for the quality you receive.

Every dish we ordered was super tasty and delicious! This place is authentic to its core and different to the usual Japanese restaurants (bento/donburi kind). It is on the pricey end but every bite was worth its cent. Yum!!
This is the most favourite Japanese restaurant in Perth so far!! Friendly service and delicious foods, I normally go as a group, they provide us great service we all loved place! No many other places has range of alcohol selection! Especially I love chilli plum wine, if you are sweet drinker, must try! My favourite menu is sushi, gyoza, and tofu! Highly recommend to make a book before you go.
Great food, nice ambiance and lots of Japanese (which shows it's got to be pretty authentic). However a little bit too pricey and not value for money. $35pp for two serves of fresh salmon sashimi, udon, two sushi rolls, edamame and fried lotus roots chips.

James Parker looks quite fancy as you're walking in with all of its beautiful decor. We were seated right in front of the chefs at the small bar like area, and were able to watch on as the chefs prepared all the sushi and sashimi. Sashimi was beautifully presented and tasted so fresh.
This place is top notch. I've been visiting before they revamped and renamed it to James Parker Sushi. Service is typical Japanese hospitality and super friendly.
They update their menu pretty regularly but I ALWAYS order the grilled Wagyu steak whenever I come. Delish and a decent portion size for only $33. I also really like the aburi Wagyu roll and spicy tuna roll.
Whatever you order, it'll be good. They can do no wrong. Never NOT enjoyed whatever I've ordered.

Absolutely fantastic!! There is a not a single bad thing I can say about this restaurant and my experience.
At 8pm, the restaurant was still completely packed but our table was clean and waiting for us. The restaurant has such an elegant feel to it with the option to watch the sushi chefs a nice touch.
The service is extremely prompt but not pushy if you're not ready. The food comes out super quick and the sashimi is on a bed of ice meaning you can take your time.
And the food is just delicious! Tried a few things I have never had heard of before and had to google prior to ordering :P (aburi shimesaba, grilled mentaiko & grilled scampi) and everything was totally worth the gamble.
It's very seafood orientated though so be prepared.
For a good feed, it was $50 a person which I would normally find too much but in this case it's acceptable given the quality and experience!!
The first time we went to JP sushi was for hubby's birthday. We loved it so much that we've been back several times with family and friends. It is exceptional Japanese food with a modern twist. We are glad to have finally found a great Japanese restaurant in Perth.
Great food and dining experience though tables are a bit crammed together so definitely not a place for date night with the lack of privacy. Only real let down from the meal was the Agedashi tofu, was quite dense and batter wasn't crispy and bathed in a very thick gooey Tentsuyu sauce
My friend and I were craving Asian food that night⊠but despite finding a FREE parking spot right opposite James Parker (anyone whoâs ever tried to find parking in Northbridge will know how much of a miracle that was), we didnât take it as a sign. We walked straight past JP and headed for Wok St Chow House. Closed?!! HOW DARE THEY?! My hangriness had hit. âLucky Chanâs?â my friend suggested⊠but Iâd been there twice and wasnât impressed. So we asked our buddy Google for advice.
The Japanese food here is pretty good and taste authentic. Food were well presented and the service was friendly. Love the interior setting of the place.
Had an amazing dining experience in this restaurant. Food were absolutely amazing and beautifully presented. Definitely would come back again.
We asked for a quiet table, and we were seated next to a large group of 12 people, who were noisy and having a great time. The food was good, but the dishes were slow to come out of the kitchen, so we didn't get all our 'ordered" food, before the 2hr limit was up. We arrived at 6.30pm, and at 8.20pm, we were kindly reminded that the table was booked for someone else at 8.30pm. As we were waiting for one more dish to come out, we were offered to have it for takeaway!! We asked to have it brought out ASAP, and hurriedly ate it and left by the 8.30pm deadline. I have no problem with a 2hr booking, but as a group of 4 girls having a midweek night out, the time went quickly, and the food coming out so slowly from the kitchen did not help. It was a disappointing end to the night. A good tip would be to order all the food you want to eat, at the start of the night.
Delicious food! So glad we had the chance to dine here as we hadn't reserved a table (assumed it wouldn't be fully booked on a Sunday night). The staff member was extremely helpful and friendly (as well as other staff). Checking the bookings, he asked if we could wait a few minutes to see if a reserved table would open up (as the people were already 15 minutes late) and to allow him to give them a call. Having no answer, we were efficiently seated. A member was helpful in explaining the food when we asked what it was. Loved the presentation of the Volcano roll, but all the dishes tasted amazing. I definitely wouldn't mind going back.

I have tried some of the 'less than' usual dishes like the Ankimo Ponzu which is the liver of a fish, and while not for me - was interesting to try!

Everything was delicious and great. Sashimi is so fresh! The 3 citrus sorbet have very light citrus flavour but still great to finish the meal off. Only issue was the wait staff sort of forgot about us so we were left waiting for the dessert until we had to remind someone and ended up staying for 2 hrs

We started off with the lotus chips which was a great choice in my opinion- it was crispy and the wasabi sauce was a perfect combination. Additionally, the tuna aburi was fantastic! I'm kicking myself for not ordering another portion.
Not many Japanese places have chawanmushi on the menu so I gave it a try. I felt that it needed to be cooked slightly longer and for $10, I guess i expected a whole lot more. Same goes for the agedashi tofu- it was pretty tasteless and slightly undercooked.
The Assortment of sashimi- octopus, salmon, tuna, scallop etc- was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. I'd highly recommend it!
Off the grill and fry section, I picked the grilled wagyu beef sirloin tobanyaki. The tenderness of the meat just melts in your mouth.
Lastly, the eel dragon roll consisted of 8 bite sized pieces of sushi. It was a really normal roll, nothing fancy.
The staff were very welcoming and patient. I'd recommended this place for a special occasion - birthday dinner, date night etc. Overall, I had a wonderful night and will be back to try the other dishes.
Entering this place, there was such a unique Japanese theme, immediately set the mood to sit and enjoy, we ordered the sayuri sake to share and a few platters as well, the waiters and waitresses were very attentive and have such great service, we absolutely loved the dessert, will definitely be back here! Service and food was on point!
Authentic Japanese food. High end interior design. My favourite " Inaniwa udon" - cold Inaniwa noodle with miso soup. Great place to visit if you love Japanese food.
I love Japan, and all things Japanese. The language, culture, people, and definitely the food! To be honest, itâs a bit hard finding good Japanese food in Perth I think. I donât like the fusion things much so that automatically crosses a few off the list. There are a few establishments SOR and sadly, itâs a bit far for a simple casual dinner.

Faultless service and amazing food. Actually this place probably has the best service I've ever had at a Perth restaurant.
The staff are so attentive and friendly, there is no messing round here. We actually couldn't believe how good the service was- greeted at the door, ordering food was quick and efficient, plus our waiter paid attention to us all the time we were there in case we wanted to order something extra. They really went the extra mile, and we were also able to see the sushi chefs prepare the food in front of us.
The fresh made tofu is the best I've ever tasted, and I've tried a lot of tofu!!! It's smooth and creamy and tastes like a savory ice cream. Pairs well with the nutty miso sauce. The steak was so tender and the sushi was delicious.
The other highlight of the meal was the dessert however. You know how a lot go restaurants here skimp on the dessert menu and use premade desserts or unimaginative cooking flavours and techniques?? This place goes the extra mile to make dessert taste as good as the main courses and it really shows. The green tea parfait is so yummy and fresh, and the chocolate cake actually had a distinct hint of sake. Really nice touch!!!!

Thereâs a great selection - snacks, grill and fry, sushi rolls, sashimi, noodles⊠plus there are loads of drinks to choose from!
Likes: super fresh sashimi, fantastic mushroom tempura, plum wine (always)
Dislikes: agedashi tofu was gluggy and bland
Value for money: reasonable

This place is my new favourite Japanese restaurant in Perth. Sushi & sashimi are so fresh & I love how they have some dishes not often seen on menus in Perth like mentaiko (spicy cod roe). The buta no kakuni (pork belly) just melts in your mouth (on my last visit we ordered it twice!). Great selection of Japanese beers (reasonably priced) & other beverages, and friendly, attentive service.
Recommend making a booking as this place gets very busy. James Parker offers mostly your traditional Japanese fare but is presented and made with care. Its also very very delicious. Staff are super friendly which makes this one of my favourite Jap places in Perth.
Went here for Sunday dinner with a friend. Very nice atmosphere and looks very fancy from outside. Waitress was very kind and food was served very quickly. We had the beef tataki, unagi Don and shabu salad which was delicious. Will definitely be back.
Saw positive reviews of this place so went to try with great anticipation. Well I think the overwhelming reviews might be a little over rated
Nicely decorated place. Typical Japanese food where the food is freshly prepared with fresh ingredients. Some different dishes that are creative. But there are fundamentally standard dishes as well.
Well I didn't find the food overwhelming fantastic. Maybe I was expecting a lot so that could be on my part.
Well worth trying I guess at least once to satisfy one's curiosity.
We always try to have an early dinner with Little Miss so when we got there, the restaurant only has a few tables but it quickly became a full house. Service was fantastic and very accommodating to our needs. The food was delicious and fresh. Definitely will be back soon
freshest and tastiest sashimi ever! sushi roll, lotus chips and iced desert were good, but why we're definitely going back is because of the sashimi. oh, and service was wonderfully Japanese - friendly and attentive. I left my wallet on the chair and they rang immediately to let us know they would keep it for us to collect when we could.

Went to JPSXS to celebrate my birthday with family and close friends.
Dishes we had:
- Lotus Chips Wasabi Sauce *FAVOURITE* => Something different. Wasabi sauce was nice to compliment the chips.
- Eggplant Agebitashi => Good.
- Aburi Wagyu Roll => Ok.
- 4 Kinds Mushroom Tempura *FAVOURITE* => Lightly battered and not oily.
- Soft Shell Crab Tosazu *FAVOURITE* => Nice vinegarette kind of sauce.
- Grilled Hokke *FAVOURITE* => Soft flesh, right amount of salt, easy to remove and some of them are edible bones.
- Grilled Miso Pork => Ok.
- Mentaiko & Mochi with Cheese => Interesting but not my cup of tea.
Here's what I thought of JPSXS:
~ They have awesome looking venue (or entrance to be precise), simple yet looking really nice.
~ Food were tasty and very pretty in presentation, but the portions were too small for price we pay.
~ Moreover, food took a while to come out. They need to improve waiting time between dishes.
~ Floor staffs were friendly and accommodating, but inattentive. If you didnt call them or ask them for something (i.e. Green tea refill), they wont bring it automatically.
In summary, we enjoyed the food and ambience at JPSXS and hoping that they will improve few things to make our dining experience more memorable next time.
What's not to like about this place? Nope, can't think of any reason.
Awesome modern interior design, friendly staff to greet you, and, of course, delightful food! What's on the menu is authentic, prepared fresh, and these traits you can taste! Their home-made tofu is pure ecstasy, for a tofu lover like me. And I thought I died and gone to heaven when I took a bite of their freshest sashimi. Reasonable price, and you also get to go home with a full belly!
I was instantly in love, as I first visited this place. And yes, it is high on my favorite restaurant list!! Thanks team for making my visit so wonderfully memorable... we'll be back soon enough!
First step into the restaurant, I was so impressed by the interior. Very modern with a touch of Japanese heritage. Price is pretty decent and food was alright. Especially love the desserts.
Walking through that huge door through to that framed hallway sure makes an impression. The interior of James Parker is pretty impressive, (I'm not too sure how I feel about the astroturf), but must admit I preferred the ambiance back when this was Izakaya Sakura.Â
With that said looks like they've held onto the mentaiko cheese mochi which my boyfriend was pretty happy about. Food came out really quickly, and couldn't fault any of it.
For dessert, the Ujikintoki is pretty good value, although a little too chunky for my liking. It's quite strong on the matcha flavor and not that sweet which I liked. Service was attentive and polite, although we did have trouble chasing someone down at the end to get the bill. It's a little pricey here, but the experience is nice so, overall worth it.
James Parker (formerly Izakaya Sakura) is one of my top Japanese restaurants in Perth. Decent pricing with exceptional quality of food and very attentive wait stuff. The restaurant is cosy and comfortable and the menu has something for everyone! I love the house-made tofu and the soba. Take a look at all the photos on Zomato and you'll want to make a booking ASAP!
I like the look and feel of this place.. Looked chic and modern, felt warm and inviting. This place has had a make over!! Food looked like art when it arrived at the table. Sashimi/ sushi was fresh. Portion size was good. Food and drink menu was quiet impressive.. Good range to choose from. Staff very attentive and informative when asked about certain dishes we weren't sure about. Prices were towards the expensive side. Overall the dining experience was a good one.

I was surprised that a place which looked this nice was located right next to Russell Square. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. All the food was delish however on the pricer side (worked out to be $48 per person). It was still worth a try but for the price, I would prefer to go somewhere else.
If you want fresh sashimi and sushi this is the place! I sat at the sushi bar and could see how they prepare the sashimi and sushi. Attention to detail, fast and the taste... amazing! They don't drown the sushi with mayo and other condiments which a lot of places do whilst destroying the natural taste of the seafood. Highly recommend it... decor is amazing and the staff are very attentive and prompt.
My boyfriend's favourite cuisine is Japanese, so for his 21st birthday I organised a dinner at James Parker in Northbridge for him and some friends. The venueâs interior is modern with Japanese accents, and features a great sushi bar to sit and watch the chefs prepare your meal. They also have an extensive list of Japanese beers, spirits and wines, perfect for a birthday celebration.
I love this place, I feel so comfortable to having dinner here, I went there a couple of time, the sashimi is so fresh and really good quality. Sushis are meet my expectation.
Wayu tataki is nice.
The orange juice need to be improve , it taste sour and like juice mix water.
Deep fry oyster a bit over cooked.
Overall I will give 4.5, will be back soon.
Not a big fan of Japs cuisine but the Japs dishes here were awesome! Was astounded by the presentation of the food and the taste. Hence, prices were reasonable. Friendly staffs, lovely ambiance. A must go for date nights!

Nice decor in the restaurant, but tables seem not stable enough, why they don't have four legs table??
Otherwise, food was well presented and attentive service.
We had aburi salmon sushi roll, but I'm not sure about the cheese inside of the roll. because it says "sushi and sake bar", I may have appreciated it more if it was served without this twist(Yes I know even in Japan serve some sushi with cheese tho.)
For two people, one sushi roll, one salad, 3 beers and two other dishes $100 is well priced I recon.
Im glad we finally dined here! It's been a wonderful experience and I can't wait to do it again. This is high quality Japanese for Perth. Some very rare items on the menu indeed. Service is great, as was to be expected. Atmosphere was spot on. A little on the expensive side, but that seems to be Perth in general at the moment. So besides that, I have nothing negative to say.

Overall, the dinner was good. Coupled with two large warm sakes and all that we had shown on pictures below - it was quite worth it.
Service was very polite and attentive but it was very inconvenient to not have a teapot so we had to hail for a tea refill about 6 times throughout dinner. They were very busy.
Sashimi was fresh and prepared very well. All sashimi dishes, Aburi salmon, tempura salad, mushroom tempura and octopus tempura was good. The not bad dishes (ok to me but not too memorable) were aburi tuna, beef tataki, sizzling Wagyu beef (the cut had not much marbling), soft shell crab, potstickers, mentaiko (salty roe, would have been very good with rice) and agadashi tofu (didn't have a crunch - and it had too much gelatinous coating).
The dishes I disliked were the banana crepes (ice cream had such a fake imitation vanilla smell coupled with plain pedestrian crepes and grilled banana) and lotus chips which were not fried too well (oily, slightly chewy and not light).
Nato is not to my tastes but I imagine with fresh sashimi and egg yolk ; it would work a treat for nato lovers. Love their personalised seaweed wraps. I don't know how ankimo ponzu should taste like but I liked it as it was creamy and tastes similar to texture of a parfait.
Still, the goods were more than bads and I would return.
Always fully booked restaurant, we were lucky to pop in without booking. Food and service are excellent .:. Highly recommended .... There price is average to me as a Japanese restaurant.... Will definitely go again with a booking next time
The sashimi was oh-so-fresh! The staff were all friendly and courteous. They were extremely apologetic when I had to move twice from my seat to make room for the other party. Got complimentary matcha ice cream! Yay! The Aburi salmon roll melts in your mouth!
Restaurant highly recommended by my friend, so had to try it out for myself. The ambience is quite casual, not as intimate as I thought it would be. Started with the agedashi tofu, which had good flavour but not fried enough. Next was the grilled wagyu beef sirloin - could have been better. The eel dragon roll was satisfying, very nice eel and the cheese within the roll was a good twist! Also, we had to order the edamame with salt just to enhance the jap experience. Lastly, the Inaniwa udon was delicious, the noodles was smooth and fresh. The dipping sauce for the udon was well flavoured but too oily due to the chicken fats inside. Ended the night with Yukimi Daifuku (Japanese dessert - sticky rice flour ball filled with vanilla icecream) which was perfect, light and refreshing after a full dinner. Complementing the experience was our hot sake - Denshin Ine - which hit the spot on a cold night. Overall quite satisfied.

I'm originally from Vancouver, Canada, where Sushi and Japanese cuisine is very "high-end". Everything is quite inexpensive, tasty, and most of all, fresh.
After visiting multiple sushi restaurants in Perth, James Parker is without a doubt, the best so far. Compared to Vancouver, it definitely places in the top 3 for me.
Very fresh, perfect amount of ingredients in each roll, cooked to perfection and most of all delicious. Service and environment was quite welcoming. I sat at the sushi bar and the chefs were very friendly and social. You can see they take pride in what they do.

I liked the decor of the restaurant, when you walk in it's like being in the rib cage of a giant whale! The miso eggplant was delicious, and I enjoyed the other dishes we ordered but I found them to mostly be nothing special, nothing really setting them apart from other Japanese restaurants. I probably wouldn't come back only because it was average, not because the food was bad by any means. The service was pretty good.

My friend and I had dinner at James Parker tonight. It was the first time for both of us and we had high hopes after looking at the menu online! We made a booking for 6:30pm on the phone but were told we could only have the table until 8:30pm, which we agreed to.
The decor was classy and it was a comfortable atmosphere. The service was attentive and polite. The only mildly annoying thing was that we were asked three times by three different people to confirm that we had to leave at 8:30pm, as if we had somehow forgotten since we made our booking earlier in the day.
We ordered green tea, lotus chips, karaage chicken, the spicy tuna roll and volcano roll. Both of us thought the quality of the food was not worth the price. It's not that the food was bad but each dish was somewhat lacking. The lotus chips were not uniformly fried, and some of them were a bit brittle and not crisp. The karaage chicken had a nice flavour but had gone soft on the outside. The sushi rolls were tasty but a bit smaller than we had expected. The spicy tuna tasted better than the volcano roll due to its unique flavour.
Overall, we thought that this restaurant is in a good location and has nice decor and service; however, the food is quite average considering the price. For example, we paid $20 for one sushi roll but at a different Japanese restaurant, we could have had a larger serving of sushi roll that tastes just as good for $15. There are also places that do kaarage chicken and lotus chips better.
My second visit to James Parker was to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. The service was excellent and the food, delicious. My favourite dishes from the night would have to be the beef tataki, the aburi salmon roll and prawn tempura salad! I really love the decor too!
This is the second time I've been to this place. The entrance of this restaurant is breath taking. I celebrated my 21st birthday on Saturday and was very impressed with the service and the food. There's 3 areas to this restaurant and the one of the front right hand side was the biggest area which could fit up to 15 people, but the manager hiro helped me squeeze in 16 which was what I wanted. Me and my boyfriend had a meeting with hiro to prepare the menu and he was very professional and easy to get along with, helping us choose what to order. The food was incredible along with the service. All the staff were smiling and bubbly, and we even forgot candles which they happily supplied us with. So glad I chose James Parker to have my 21st in, and I would highly recommend this place đ

I went on a stroll around the CBD area when one of my friend suddenly suggested that we tried James Parker. I was up for it and he made a booking but little did I know that the booking was made for 8PM, which was another one and a half hour later (cheeky!).
It''s very recommended to book in advance because the place can be quite full, especially during dinner time on the weekend. Food price is quite reasonable for the area and quality that we received. One of the let down was agedashi tofu, the texture was fine but the taste of the sauce was quite bland on that night. However we were really happy because our sushi rolls, wagyu beef tataki and dessert tasted really yum! If you want to go economical for dessert, the best dessert to share for us was shaved ice matcha, which gave my cousin a big grin  when he saw the size of it.
Service was good as the staff checked on us when needed and to top up our water and one of them gave us recommendation on which sake to try on for the night. Parking can be difficult but there were a couple of nearby CPPs and free parking on the side of the street if you're lucky enough to score one.
I wanted a quick feed before heading into the city for a friend's birthday gathering. I didn't make a booking but managed to get a table for two when it opened for dinner. I used to love the restaurant K's which was replaced by Izakaya Sakura. It has undergone some serious renovation since then so I was excited to try this place. My favourite dishes were the lotus chips and the grilled chicken.
Love this place. Celebrated my birthday here last week. Very friendly staffs, Service is excellent. Most of the dishes are good except the lotus chips was chewy and not crispy as it supposed to be, told them, and they gave us a new one which was perfect.

New to the Northbridge dining scene is Japanese restaurant, James Parker. Why James Parker? Because James Parker is located on the corner of James and Parker Street. Put the two street names together and you get James Parker. I have passed by James Parker several times when I was in Northbridge and was attracted by the entrance. On a weeknight, my friends and I decided that James Parker will be a good choice to catch up over dinner. Upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted with a modern interior and welcoming atmosphere which has a feel of a modern Izakaya style restaurant. Itâs slick, intimate and classy.
Simply Divine.... Good Food, friendly staff & nice ambience.
My only disappointment was no BYO & the door probably needs fixing as it brings in a cool breeze for customers seated on the right side of the entrance.
The real japanese experience. We had just returned from a long holiday in Japan and were missing the beautiful food and service we had experienced there, when we discovered James Parker Sushi x Sake. I am in love with this place! It took us right back. Amazing food, amazing service, great atmosphere, and i love the staff and chefs. My absolute favourite new discovery. This restaurant kicks ass ;-)
Went to James Parker for my nephew's 19th birthday. The food is still as good, the service is still as warm and the prices are still reasonably priced for the quality of food that they serve and good environment. Love this place:)
Beautiful decor to match the beautiful food. The food we were served was absolutely amazing. Flavourful, beautifully presented, the place was buzzing with happy diners. Will be back there again soon. Such a delight!
