Review Chicho Gelato - Perth

Melissa Soh
Had the lavender and honeycomb — was average at best. Flavours didn’t come through as strongly as I would have liked it to unfortunately. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either haha. Cute store though.
Amy K
The best gelato in Perth. Feels like in Italy🤩super authentic 👍really love the Lavender flavor one.
Victoria Coleman
Chico's has the best gelato in Australia imho. Always a must stop. The '22 Easter special Philly Fig is a masterpiece. 🤍

This is my favorite Gelato place. Always line up till late . The gelato here is creamy, comes in intersting hard to find flavors, and not too sweet. My favourite are the Pistachio (it's extra $) and the Dark Sesame Yuzu. Place is always clean and has cool design. Great location in the middle of Northbridge is a bonus
Christina M Giuffre
Good ice-cream (not creamy enough to be called gelato) plus has vegan options.
Courtney Price
I ordered a 2 scoop of Cappuccino and Mascapone Frutti, both were really yummy and rich in flavour which is what I love. My husband ordered a 1 scoop of Chocolate which wasn't my favourite because it had a really bitter taste to I. Overall if I'm ever in Northbridge I would definitely go back.

lovely, one of the few places that serves hojicha ice cream, been here 4-5times for the same flavour! Slim male long hair glasses staff was polite and friendly

How fabulous place this is. Just dropped by with my friend whose favorite gelato place is here. As I was told, it was fantastic. I love here in every aspect: romantic interior, professional service, great gelato of course. I'd be absolutely willing to make my next visit to taste other flavours later on. Wish you the best💕👍🍀
Cailin Brennan
Every time I come here the ice cream is incredible and the flavours are inventive, delicious and imaginative. Service is wonderful and the staff friendly - I will continue to recommend you!
Sara Ambrogio
I had to come all the way from Italy to Perth to taste the best gelato ever! Amazing flavours, cool place and very cool staff! Highly recommended!

Super dissapointed, have to give one star as i was unable to taste it, and there isn't a 0 star option. Checked the website and Thursdays the closing time is listed as 11:00pm. Drove into Northridge and arrived in store at 10:35pm and was told that they were closed, even though the door was open and the lady was standing in the door way talking animatedly with a friend. I mentioned to the lady that their website listed their closing time as 11pm, which is 25 minutes away, and was provided with a shrug and "we're closed?" Again. Would have really liked to taste it, especially after trecking to Northbridge specifically to get this gelato.

It's worth actually heading in on a quieter night and talking to the staff or the owner whilst you order, as they are really knowledgeable and passionate about their creations. It goes without saying that, with such passion comes a consistently good product.

We hired Chicho Gelato for our wedding (8 December 2017) and Chez was fantastic to do business with because of his great communication and presentation on the day. The guests were very happy to see him on a 35 degree day and many complimented on the originality and convenience of having gelato on hand. The gelato of course was delicious as was the sorbet. I look forward to visiting the Northbridge shop again soon!
Jodie Wong
Best gelato in Perth, hired the gelato cart for our wedding ! They have the most amazing flavours! :)
Megan Devenish-Krauth
Bought Gelato here a few times now (I know, fatty) and it's the best quality I've had in Perth. Staff are always so well presented and polite. They make a very decent macchiato too.
Sian Hockridge
amazing gelato, staff are always really friendly. We make sure we visit every time we go to Perth. The roast macadamia with white chocolate is the best gelato I've ever had ❤️❤️
Sara Condron
Wonderful flavours had great difficulty in deciding which one to select. Blood orange sorbet was my final choice and it didn't disappoint
Michelle Maraldi
We have always loved trying gelato every chance we get. This has been the best! So happy Emilou and Bart had you come to Baldivis Farm Stay for the wedding!
Melanie DeLeo Parkinson
This is good gelato but I ordered 2 scoops for $8 and it was tiny, not good value. Other great Italian Gelato shops in Perth & Freo will give you double this amount for less $$

My friend and I came here after we had lunch. The person that served us was older looking, grey hair with dark eyes. Didn’t greet us. Whenever we asked for a taste test, literally had a blank face and looked somewhat annoyed when he gave us the taste test of the gelato. (We only tried 2 flavours nor was there a sign that said we couldn’t try the gelato.) My friend and I decided we wanted to explore somewhere else as we weren’t feeling the flavours that we thought we would like. As soon as we left. He tells us: “don’t come back here” twice. He was incredibly rude as both my friend and I did absolutely nothing wrong. Very disappointed because we heard good reviews about this place. Especially the customer service but I guess it was not our day. Note: be cautious of that particular worker because he does not treat his customers nicely!

A must visit for true gelato lovers! I find myself keep going back for their pistachio gelato. Very addictive! One of the best gelato place in Western Australia. The staffs are all very friendly and happy. Well done! Can't wait to go back again.
Food_Glorious_Food
Love the ever changing, creative ice cream flavours (and the classic staples) at one of my favourite ice cream joints in Perth. You can’t go wrong with their Piemonte hazelnut (creamy and delicious), Sicilian pistachio or their signature Lavender & honeycomb. Love their original flavour combos, and seasonal specials - it’s a refreshing change from the norm. Ice cream that is definitely made with love.
Mr MM Smith
I've had a lot of gelato in my time and then I went home to Perth for a few days and stumbled on this place and wow! The lavendar gelato is literally the most deluxe gelato I've ever tasted, it's magnificent. The staff were welcoming and super friendly too, and the decor and layout are beautiful. I'll be back next month!
Britney Mosley
Absolutely. Delicious. Super cool interior too, feels like you're stepping back in time but in a good way! Staff are always really helpful and give you honest opinions about the flavours

Rating: 4.5/5

Never disappoints. The gelato is luscious and creamy and they have many excellent flavour combinations to choose from. Personal favourites are the fig + marscapone; and white choc + macadamia. Coupled with super-friendly staff and a comfortable, tactful fit-out, Chichos offers a wholesome and satisfying dessert experience every time.
JuYeethejoey
We were here on a friday night and there was a queue. Plenty of interesting flavours to choose from. Most of the flavours were sold off leaving about 4 flavours available. I had the watermelon mint and it was good. There is also an open seating area behind the shop that is great to chill and unwind.
Mildred Pearce
Love their interesting flavours and their constantly changing menu! Great vibe about this place and it’s open til 10pm most nights. One of my most frequented places in Northbridge.
Arijit Das
Amazing selection of flavors (try the lavender honey flavored - it’s like you are literally eating a sweet flower). The staff are super friendly. The benches outside add an inviting welcome to Chicho to the passerby.
The Aftertasters
Below average gelato.

2.5/5

TASTE

Chicho has great flavour creativity, with plenty of unique flavours on offer, including vegan options. However, the taste doesn’t quite meet our expectations.

TEXTURE

The texture comes across as more of an ice cream texture rather than a gelato consistency. There is also a very ‘fake’ taste, similar to supermarket ice creams, which and leaves an annoying ‘milky’ sweetener aftertaste in your mouth. This is most likely due to the type of sweeteners they use to make their product.
VIBE

Pretty good, they usually get pretty busy on weekends and their popular/special flavours will sell out when they are busy. Service a bit mixed, been there two times overall, and they have come across as a bit rude.

OVERALL

Chicho gelato failed to meet our expectations. While we liked their unique flavour options and ideas, when it came to taste and texture it was a letdown due to the way they create their gelato and their ingredients. Personally we would not return, as it does not seem worth the price of premium gelato.
Conor Richards
Very cool place, average gelato, average service. A lot of hype and quite frankly didn't live up to it. It was also really quiet but took forever to get served.
Cony Huang
Brand new ice cream shop, also have coffee.Good design.Friendly staff and fabulous Gelato~I can't love it any more.Recommend to ALL of you!!!!!!!
Pia Kehal
Love this place! The unique flavours that change every time I visit are so amazing, I especially love the violet lemon meringue...with massive swirls of actual lemon meringue pie! It's a completely different flavour to anything I've ever had before. The staff members are also super nice and service is quick.
Reuben Black
Cant not love this place, had the opera something special which was chocolate and cherries, absolutely delicious. Been here a few times and service is always impeccable. Also love how you can buy a shirt of your favourite flavour. It's a must visit on a night out to northbridge !
Lunarcry
We’ve visited this gelato shop about 3 times now and have always tried different flavors and they have all been good. I went for the dairy-free soy snickers this time - which turned out to be rather bland. Might stick to the conventional choices next time.
Elizabeth Last
Best option for dessert in the city (or a daytime snack in summer), we go back on a monthly basis to try the new flavours and chef collabs they do. If they have a limited edition flavour do not miss out on trying it, even if it sounds weird!!
Levina
What a great gelato place! Their flavours are unique, and all the ones that we tried were absolutely delicious. I especially loved the Sicilian Pistachio. Must must try when you’re in Northbridge.
Ilovebeansprouts
Was drawn to the interesting flavours on the menu board, so we ordered a few to try. But tasting them was quite another story. Liked the Malted Milk Cornflake Cookie and Sicilian Pistachio, but the Thai Milk Tea, Black Sesame Grilled Banana, Mandarin and Guava Yuzu were just lacking boldness to their flavours. There wasn't much punch to these flavours, in fact they tasted a little flat. We've tasted better ones, so overall, what we had was pretty average.
Thegreeats
Price is reasonable; perfect place for dessert after dinner out in the city or in the heart of northbridge
Very unique flavours; would recommend trying a few before picking!
The single scoop was on the smaller side but it was so rich and sweet it was probably the right size.
I tried the salted caramel and it was delicious
Loved the courtyard space behind it to enjoy our icecreams!
Sha30m
Travelling from Sydney we saw this cute little shop and wanted to try it. A lady was there before us (only 3 customers at the time were us and this lady) trying every flavour possible and bought one scoop. There were two of us wanting to buy 2 cups of 2 scoops - when our turn came we shared 1 miniscule spoon of salted caramel to taste and 1 hazelnut and then we wanted to try another one were rudely informed " it is usually 2 flavours to taste". Well there was 2 of us - does not that make it 4 tastings? And why would you penalise customers when they have just waited 10 mins when another customer was tasting every possible flavour?
At $5 (almost) a scoop this is not cheap - gelato should be fun and the experience fun and friendly. Okay gelato, my partner is Italian - thought it was okay but not worth the rudeness. I would tend to agree.
Papillon
This place is so amazing. Every time I come here I am never disappointed with the friendly service, beautiful and clean space and of course the delicious flavours. I don't particularly have a "go to" flavour as I think pretty much all the I've tried have been great. Of course there's been some that I've taste tested that didn't suit me but it's just personal preference there's always other that I can choose from.
Crazy Cat Lady
One of my regular dessert spots in Perth.

My favourite flavour is the cold brew coffee. They’re always really busy and you’ll most likely have to wait in a short line.

The thing I like about this place is it doesn’t matter if you get a cup of cone. It’ll still be the same price unlike some places who charge you more if you want a cone.
Eurazn
I finally made it to this place after chasing them around at the hawkers markets on a Friday night! Still delicious ice cream! tonight we tried the specials; Davidson plum gelato and the Persian love cake. Both unique and yummy. Will be back soon.
JC
Top three for Gelato in Perth. Interesting flavours as well, and generally buzzing with people even late in the evening. A great place to grab a few scoops and walk through Northbridge.
Foodie In Paradise
We tried out the matcha with red bean and roasted macadamia flavor gelato. Both of them were delicious. Service was great and will definitely come back for more.
DforDee
Absolutely Wonderful on this 36 degrees day! 😬 their pistachio is different from other gelato places. Nice taste. A bit salty tho. And I also tried their chocolate and that was too sweet. Both combinations together are good!
Kitty
Always drop by this place when I go to Northbridge. One observation is that they can be quite skimpy with their chocolate drizzle. Sometimes I don’t even feel like they’ve put anything much on even though I pay for it. Shouldn’t it be a little bit more generous? No?
Lady X
Despite it being cold and windy that night, there was a queue forming outside this place! I bravely joined the queue wondering what the fuss was about. Tried the pistachio gelato and it was yums! Smooth and full of pistachio flavours. The burnt butter popcorn flavour which I only sampled had actual popcorn bits in it, will definitely be back to try that soon!
Kencho
Tried it after much excitement but was disappointed as gelato is meant to be rich, dense & creamy & got none of that we found it watery. Have had gelato all through Italy & it didn't compare unfortunately & lacked the ingredients listed. Also got charged an extra dollar for the tiniest of drizzling of chocolate don't mind paying but for $5 per scoop it's quiet up there in price considering. Tried it but to be really honest Gusto gelato do more a scrumptious job!!
Finleyhimawan
Love their gelato!! One of the best gelato in town for me. I’ve always come back to this place for a good reason. They have a good range of flavours from classic to more interesting flavours. This time we tried the tasting plate, you get to try 5 flavours, it is designed for dine in only. This time we tried lavender and honeycomb, rose water white chocolate, black sesame and banana, green tea matcha and macadamia. They’re really good and none of the flavours disappoint us at all. Will definitely come back for more!
Marcus
It pains me to give this rating for what is possibly the best Gelato around but they need to get the message that portion size is really too small (see lamb pickles review below). If you get a double serving the second flavour is half a scoop. We're talking $8 for a small ice cream. It'd be a 5 if they weren't so stingy. I should have taken a photo and shared it with you.
Little Aussie Epicurean
Pretty damn delicious. Best ice-cream I've had in Perth. This place always seems busy whether it's summer or winter, 5pm or 10pm. Service can be a little slow with often only 1 server but worth the wait. I'm pictured here with the limited edition opera cake inspired gelato.
Lamb Pickles
Favourite gelato flavour of any ice cream is Chocolate mint. Loved the flavour they had here though preferred it to be more mintier along with getting more out of a drizzle of chocolate.

Edit: the hojicha w Hazelnut limited flavour tasted so weird to me. Perhaps I prefer the matcha green tea taste. I was so disappointed with the portions for two scoops.
Perth Foodaholic
Every time I think of ice cream, I think of Eddie Murphy’s skit from Delirious. “ICE CREAMMMM! ICE CREAMMMMM! THE ICE CREAM MAN IS COMINGGG!” If you don’t know what I’m talking about, we can’t be friends anymore haha. Chicho is a quirky little gelato shop in Northbridge known for their interesting flavours. Every now and then they also do collaborations with other people. Currently they have a flavour with Little Matcha Girl (see previous post). Unfortunately that night, that flavour was sold out. So I guess I will have to come back another time!

What's great about this place is the different flavours that they have to choose from and also the aesthetic. They keep the icecream away in tubs with lids so you can't see, adds a bit of mystery and drama ;)
Ay
What a cute little gelato bar. The staff are lovely and the amazing flavours offered make it hard to choose. I enjoyed the rosewater, white choc and pistachio and the lavender and honeycomb. Will definitely be back.
Matchamadeinheaven
Lavender honeycomb - you will NOT regret it.
The gelato here is absolutely ridiculous. It is so good that every bite feels like you are transcending into a cloud filled with soft cream and frosty treats. No but really, it's really really excellent.

It's also not extortionately priced, it has a running chocolate tap and the chocolate gelato is the best I've ever tasted!

Staff are cooler than your teenage next door neighbour in the house you grew up in and it's in a good spot, with heaps of seating in the nearby gallery.

Try this place ASAP! You won't regret it 😛😍

Best Gelato in all of Perth, amazing and unique flavours that change every week. Simply a must visit for the ice cream connisuers of you out there.
TheCubanCigar
Yum yum!
Amazing tasty Italian style gelato !
Lavender & honeycomb together - unbelievably flavoursome !!!!

Love the unique flavours of icecream & great speedy service

Perth Food Blogger
To me this is the best gelato bar in the city. The gelato is fantastic and the coffee is also very nice. I tried the Sicilian Pistachio which was definitely in the top 3 Perth has to offer.

The place was beautifully appointed with stone tops and stainless old school icecream tubs.

The service by Luka was also very good.

Check it out!!

Best gelato I've had bar Messina in Melbourne. Great flavours, friendly service. Blueberry Ricotta! And banana praline, macadamia and white choc chips...all so good. Not cheap, but great quality, also have a chocolate fountain.
The Chefs Wife
Working from home means that I’ve been able to enjoy all six weeks of the school holidays with my Little Chef. After taking him to a show at the State Theatre, we headed right next door to Chicho Gelato for a treat. Chicho, means “Cheeky Kid” in Italian and Chicho Gelato is a little bit quirky too. They create some really interesting flavour combinations and there are around 20 flavours to pick from. Choosing just one or two flavours is a very difficult job!
@Foodieguide_lily
It's hard for me to rate this place because of very inconsistent experiences. Because of the great location I've been several times with friends after dinner or a show, and sometimes I get great service or flavours. Other times I've had regret. It's worth a try but I find the serving sizes quite small compared to other places, especially if you get 2-3 flavours. 2 scoops for example is actually just 1.5 scoops in size so I thought this was misleading and expensive. With flavours, I had an amazing roasted macadamia but the matcha was quite weak and several others I found to have bland or unappetising tastes. I do feel like the service has picked up a lot though, but if you go make sure you taste what you order first and it should be fine.

Bloody bellissimo !

Yaaasssss to Chicho Gelato! Firstly, I love the interiors. The first place I have seen to not display their gelato in a standard ice cream display fridge, but in old school silver cloche lids and you can't actually see the ice cream.

Then the gelato. I tried the Chef Collaboration that they change often which is such a cool concept. This was El Publico's Char grilled street corn gelato w tortilla crumb and dolce de leche. HOLY GELATO. This was insane. I ended up choosing the mint choc brownie because that is my all time favourite ice cream flavour and I was not disappointed. So creamy. I will be coming again and again.
Dumpling Love
I’ve always felt Perth is lacking in the gelato and dessert department. There are now quite a few popping up (e.g., Whisk, Gusto Gelato, Bites by D, Chu Bakery, etc). Gelato, for me, is a bit of a hit and miss. I’m the type of person who loves frozen hard ice-cream (Baskin Robbins is a childhood fav of mine), so when gelato is the really soft type, it isn’t the most enjoyable or satisfying thing for me.
Billylamb
Oh my! So many interesting flavour combos to try. This place is amazing and I could come back again and again. Settled on the mochi green tea and was not disappointed.
David Barton
Very tasty gelato. Really interesting flavours that taste authentic rather than the usual boring ones. Can't wait to try some more. Nice seating out the back
Max Kamien
Very light gelato with not much body. Interesting flavours like my favourite of honeycomb and lavender. Very small servings. Also can't see the produce since it is in metal containers each with a lid. The service is always painfully slow. The whole place needs a bit of efficiency. That could start by indicating that although there are 2 doors one is for IN i.e. the beginning of the queue and the other for OUT.
Matt
We've come to Chicho Gelato a couple of times now and have always left satisfied. The gelato selection is very different to the norm, offering some excellent flavour combinations. The chocolate tap is a thing of beauty... I could literally watch it for hours. A must try desert destination!
Michael Thompson
Their limited run dessert they posted still lured me in to try their gelato. The setup there is really cool with the chocolate fountain topping and the fancy looking lids for the gelato. I had the banana with peanut brittle, salted caramel crack and the hazelnut. The texture was very soft and smooth which made it taste so much better. The hazelnut was my favourite of the 3.

Chicho Gelato has come a long way since its market cart days. I remember being first enamoured by a deliciously fresh mint and watermelon sorbet offered one hot day at the Perth Upmarket. Since then both myself and a handful of other gelato fanatics were in love and Chicho had a following. The little gelato cart continued to move throughout Perth's markets, scoring itself a regular attendance at the Twilight Hawkers Market where flavours of strawberry mascarpone and banana and Mexican chocolate surfaced.
The City Lane
ChiCho Gelato is the brainchild of partners in life and business Chez and Carly De Bartolo, who set up a portable gelato cart business after being inspired in London then travelling the world, learning how to make the perfect gelato.
Bettyhadditch
The flavours are sooo real and epic!!!! So difficult to choose so take advantage of the tasters. Cool and funky decor and great service - love this place.
WenY
Located beside the state theatre, Chicho Gelato is putting up some finger licking goodness for the sweet tooth in you. The products from these globe trotting Gelato duo are no less impressive than you would expect from a person who’ve graduated from the school of Gelato. The staples like hazelnut, chocolate and fruit sorbets are on the Gelateria’s menu but there are also unique collaborations which change every month or week.
Happyeats
I like the whole concept of the place and how they've designed the interior and displays of ice cream flavohrs as well as the storage.

Nothing overly special though, some flavours are nice but the texture of the ice cream is so soft I wonder how fast it'll melt in Summer (it also reminds me of the texture I get from my ice cream maker at home)

First time I went there I got the Rosewater pistachio flavour and the lime and coconut. The rosewater one was quite nice but the coconut lime was a bit overkill, all I could taste was like grind.
Tonight we went again and I was kind of excited to try the special - smoke manuka honey with rosemary and walnuts.
(We also got vanilla and the banana and peanut brittle)

WOW how disappointing. The first taste of the smoked manuka honey was horrendous. I couldn't eat it. Tried a few more bites but it tasted like smoked salmon.

I would say yes, go try it but be careful what flavours you order because for the price you'd want to be able to enjoy it not feel like throwing it up after.

I don't think I'd go back after tonight. Even the vanilla and banana was so plain.
J Smith
Oh wow.. This was heavenly. Salted caramel crack was just that, so tasty. Rose water was refreshing. I got the mascarpone rhubarb which was creamy with fruit bits. Love how they put chocolate inside the cone and on top. Cool fit out, looks like a bar for gelato lovers. Great service!
Smithyy
This place has awesome creative flavours. The salted caramel, matcha w/ white chocolate, and Nutella flavours were amazing. Love having the option to cover it in chocolate too. Would be better with chunkier pieces in the gelato. The place always looks busy but the line moves very quickly and the customer service is great.
Chut
I wish they'd make more of the gelatos which are sold out available. Service is great with all staff very quick to take your orders. I have been here a few times already and its always fast and friendly.
My first time going into ChiCho's was to buy water and a very odd request of purchasing warmed up full cream milk for my friend's toddler who was screaming on the top of her lungs for milk. The staff were ever so kind to help me out with this request. From that moment on I have came back every so often to buy a scoop of gelato because it's great to know that ChiCho was able to help us in a time of need. Keep up the good work ChiCho!
PerthfectBreakfast
So many interesting flavours and I'm forever sampling them but I always fall back on old faithful, roasted macadamia white chocolate crisps. It is by far my favourite flavour of the bunch. Honorable mentions go out to blood orange sorbet and mascarpone with rhubarb and strawberry.
Food Explorer
this is what an ice cream should be. an authentic gelato that melts in your mouth. not too sweet that it kills the flavour...but just perfect
Elsie C
Exotic and exciting flavours like lavender and pandan were enough to entice me down to Chicho's last Sunday night. Being able to try samples before committing to a particular gelato sealed the deal. Hubby had kaffir lime + coconut and rosewater + white chocolate, as well as what he described as one of the best espresso coffees in Perth. The weird and wonderful gelato flavours are great for the novelty factor, and are nice in their own right. With the lavender though, I just couldn't get past feeling like I was eating talcum powder from the floral scent! I settled on peanut butter + jam and salted caramel. My corrupted taste buds hoped for some chunky PB or caramel to intercept as I made my way through the scoops, but I appreciate that is not what Chicho is about. Unique flavours they may be, but it is true to old fashioned gelato style, free of 'mix in' distractions from the delicate flavours and the soothing creamy texture. If you have a penchant for pure and honest gelato with a twist, Chicho is well worth a pit stop.
MSG Foodie
Love their gelatos!!! Talk about new interesting flavours everytime i go there. It's tasty, quite light and the combination of flavours just make you smile and wanting more. They have a nice open area at the back to just enjoy your gelato and relax. Must try!!
Foodieperth
This has got to be one of my favourite gelato places in Perth. Stemming from a food truck, Chicho Gelato has become a full fledged gelato bar. The flavours here are very weird and different, but they still taste amazing, and the combinations work well together. On my first visit, I ordered the cinnamon gelato with toasted brioche pieces swirled through, and it was amazing. I also had the chocolate tap, which was a free flowing tap of hot melted chocolate. It only costs an extra dollar which is amazing!! The second time I came, I had the white chocolate and macadamia gelato (in a cone with the chocolate tap obviously) and the flavours paired perfectly well. Overall big scoops, the staff are friendly and helpful and the flavour combinations are complementary. The only let down is it is quite milky and the good flavours tend to get sold out quickly.
Irenenyein
Such a cosy, little retro dessert spot! Ordered one scoop of rose water, white chocolate & pistachio - delicious to say the least! Every bite has a hit of rose water with a hint of white chocolate, absolutely divine! A second scoop of pandan & roasted peanut brittle. The pandan on its own doesnt taste like traditional flavour but with the addition of the peanut brittle, brings out such an amazing flavour combo!
Emma Louise
tasty gelato in northbridge for reasonable prices. Love all the unique flavours they have here. Ive tried a few but my favourite would have to be the lavender and honeycomb, sounds unusual but really works
Renato
Funky little place with a cool setup for service. I had the cinnamon, brioche and Nutella swirl in a cone and it was delicious! Others had the roasted macadamia (yum!!) and the Mexican chocolate. Maybe not Gusto quality, but great if you want a $5 scoop at the end of the night... or a brioche ice cream sandwich 😜
Brokefoodie
My go to gelato spot! Since I discovered it I have been at least once a week. It has indeed become a guilty pleasure of mine. Cheat day is most definitely spent at Chicho. Unique subtle flavours. Complex combinations that compliment each other perfectly. Gelato that even people who aren't so keen on sweets will enjoy as the sweetness isn't overpowering like some gelato places. The owner definitely has a inventive flare and I am so happy that this place exists. My favourite so far is the marscapone, quince jam and smoked almond flavour which was a collaboration with neighbour bivouac, unfortunately this flavour is no longer available but excited to try the new specials!
CiderCraze
Love the flavours! Matcha and caramelised white chocolate, rosewater, White chocolate and pistachio to name a few. And the Brioche con Gelato, Sicilian delight! Location is great, friendly patient staff, strongly recommended.
However to me it's a bit too light, doesn't mean it's not delicious it's just I'm used to heavier tasted gelato at Gusto. I'll certainly be back for more when I'm in the area.
Kudokun
Say hello to the latest addition of awesome desserts place in Northbridge! Chicho gelato offers not only plenty but also unique flavor of gelato! Jalapeno gelato anyone? Mexican chocolate (which is spicy btw)! In addition, the rich flavour comes at the right amount (ie as to not make one feel sick after eating too much - if you know what I mean >.
Cadie
Definitely I will come back. Firstly, I didn't intend to visit this store and my colleague convinced me to give it a try. I tasted smokey Mexican chocolate that was not nice. It tastes as pepper. So i decided to buy chocolate gelato instead. I am not disappointed with my choice. It is really worth to buy gelato here.
CLu
Flavours are quite unique which I liked however too much of it did create a sickly feel to it.

Decor was cute and love the outside seating area and the chocolate fountain but customer service does need to improve. I found it ridiculous that a customer can't "sample" a flavour before committing. As a customer you want to pay for something you enjoy, so why shouldn't we be allowed to sample.

I was tossing up between 3 flavours for my 2 scoops but I was told by the girl I could only sample one flavour. However, I told her I was planning to buy two scoops each for my partner and I, so I want to make sure we get the right flavours. Then she reluctantly gave me the sample with a side eye.

Have to admit the attitude of the staff did dampen my experience.

so nice to have an interesting ice cream place so close to home...well...nice and dangerous for the waistline at the same time...lovely and interesting flavours...friendly service as well...big fan of the pandan & peanut brittle...can't wait to go back and try more flavours...good ones always sell out quick though...

Smooooooooth, creamy, not overly sweet and nicely balanced flavours. They're not too tryhard but also adventurous and creative, all very well executed. Service is prompt, people are friendly, love the decor. Great gelato! Good eats!

Interesting array of flavours. Service is v. Friendly. Definately coming back to try others. Best tasting by far. Enjoyed my green tea and white choc.

I have lost count how many time I have visited this establishment since they open their doors. Absolutely amazing gelato flavours, I have tried almost all of them and I have yet to dislike any one of them. But if you must, pistachio and get the additional $1 chocolate topping (the last bit of cone will send you to chocolate heaven and back), you would not regret this, nor will your a waistline.

All the way up there along with Messina and Cow/Moon. I can see Chicho going really far in this game if they maintain their standard.

I'm so disappointed to have to give this place such a low score. Ice cream is a passion of mine and the flavours they offer are very exciting but went there to check it out and the owner was extremely rude and aggressive. It was quite upsetting. Such a shame :(

One of the best value for money ice cream stores I have come across in Perth. I ordered 3 scoops because I wanted to have more variety. I didn't expect the scoops to be huge! Wow! Gelato is deliciously soft and creamy and those flavours...crazy but awesome. Personal favourite is the PB&J. The current special with Saffron and Olive Oil is so unique and it actually works very well.
The staff are very friendly and allow you to taste test and the store is cute.

Gelato, gelato, gelato… everyone loves it. I have the fondest memories of having a daily midnight gelato in Torino like all the Italians do, and now we have this place in Northbridge that does wonderful and interesting flavours. It was the first time I tried this place out of curiosity to try the new flavor launched for the Eat Drink Perth Festival, the olive oil and saffron with burnt orange caramel swirl gelato. There was a bit of a line, but when it’s good it’s worth the wait. I took two scopes and went outside in the courtyard of the State Theatre, which was decked out with armchairs and high stools. Nice place. The gelato was perfecto. The olive oil and saffron gave it a savory flavor, not too sweet, and a nice tanginess from the orange caramel. I really enjoyed it and will be back to try their other flavours.

Simply delicious gelato in amazing flavours. The best in perth by far. Great stop after dinner with its chic marble interior and a chocolate fountain

This is the first time I visited the store and third time I've tried Chicho and I must say I'm still so impressed and want to go back tonight! I have tried Gelato Messina which I think is a bit overrated and I frankly think Chicho beats it by far - the texture is better and it is less sugary. I had the black sesame last night and am hooked!!! I tried my husbands coffee flavour and that was also amazing. My only criticism is that I find the cones a bit too sweet so a less sugary cone option would be great.

Good value for your moolah considering how much flavour they are able to jam into those scoops!!!

Their pistachio gelato tasted like real pistachio and came in a great colour.

Their mascarpone and fig is the bomb.

And last but not least, their seasonal collab flavour which is currently a miso caramel with something something - which is simply out of this world. Do yourself a favour and get your (taste)buds a treat they deserve.

I love the atmosphere in and around a gelateria. The excitement of selecting flavours. People’s delight, lingering around the shop front licking gelato whilst conversing. Inside Chicho there are even words of woooo and ahhhhh upon discovery of a tall tap that releases a stream of chocolate. Just like something from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Went with a scoop of cactus fruit (prickly pear) and lime sorbet, as well as mango and passionfruit sorbet. Both gelato choices were GF, creamy and very sweet. The choices were flavoursome, and the mango and passionfruit was by far the best. The lime gave the sorbet a nice tartness. I couldn’t get enough of it.
We also tried the fig, mascarpone and balsamic caramel, as well as a scoop of salted caramel. Definitely a caramel intensity over the fig and mascarpone.

We love stopping in here for a late night gelato. The flavours are super original and delicious. So many flavours to choose from but we can never go past the cold brew coffee. The guys behind the counter are lovely, friendly and passionate about awesome gelato! Cool fit out too!

Visited Chicho last weekend and tried: rosewater, matcha, lavender, watermelon and miso caramel..
The miso caramel was the best flavour out of all :) rosewater was good too and has white choc bits in it.. Matcha was okay but the lavender tasted like soap and we couldnt finish it.. Would love to get some more of the miso caramel!

Really like this gelato shop, and so do many patrons judging by the queues it generates throughout the night. Their flavours are actually true to the description and taste genuine rather than artificial. You can taste all the individual flavours! Tried the watermelon mint, rose water and pistachio, peanut butter and jelly, and the pandan with roasted peanut brittle. They were all so rich in flavour without being too sweet. A must try with a good variety of flavours.

The ice cream flavours are so different compared to the similar shops nearby. It has some weird but worth-to-try flavours such as chilli passionfruit sponge, parsley and banana, and jalapeño and pineapples.

Good ambience with friendly staff. Great and quick service as the queue was so long when we went there on Sunday night. Good job!
So here's the deal: despite some caveats this joint is well worth a visit & should be supported. Great authentic concept & equipment & highly inventive flavour combinations (eg goats cheese & chilli passion fruit sponge). Negatives: decor of light blue/pink & lavender tops is a little naff and already dated, appalling 80s style electronica muzak is off-putting and flavours (I've tried 80% of them and let's face it you're here for the GELATO) tho ok have not been as spectacular as names would suggest. 17 gelato and 4 sorbet flavours is a decent range however I found the gelato in general to be a little on the icy side with a lack of flavour intensity.
STAND OUT FLAVOURS: peanut butter & jelly; banana & parsley; mint Choc brownie.
So I'd do a rejig of decor, ditch the muzak & work on flavour intensity & gelato texture if I was serious about topping the field.
(Purely on marketing grounds I'm surprised why blue was chosen in decor since it's well known psychologically to be one of the least likely colours to stimulate appetite as distinct from say the golden yellow used in Maccas' arches.)

Tried :
Green Tea
Pandan and Peanut Brittle
Rosewater and caramelised White Choc
Salted Caramel Crack and
Pistachio
The green tea was the only one that had a strong flavour and it was very much one note, no depth. All the icecreams were very bland, icy and milky. not a rich creamy indulgence.
The decor is gorgeous and i love the peaked domes and cute uniforms.

You won't find any tubs piled high with gelato at Chicho - the ice-cream is hidden under stainless steel domes in true Italian style. The fig and mascarpone was smooth and creamy but lacked flavour, the macadamia and white chocolate was more successful.

The pistachio and the chocolate however were a different story - intense flavours, creamy texture...sadly I could only taste since they were not the flavours on my cone!

This place makes the best gelato I have had in Australia. Second to none. Icey, smooth and not laced with sugar. Try the Lavender and Honeycomb. Be daring and don't look at the price - it is a luxury product!!!!
ChrissyK
Tried the fig mascarpone balsamic ice cream. Tasted really icey. Appart from little chunks of fig, the flavour wasn't there. One of my friends had the strawberry sorbet which she said was good. Waited in line as the place was full. Most of the flavours were sold out so didn't get a chance to try what I wanted. A little dissapointed.

Chicho Gelato have great combination flavours you cant find anywhere else! We loved what we had tonight:
- Green Tea Caramelised White Choc ***
- Roast Macadamia White Choc Crisps ***
- Fig Mascarpone Balsamic Caramel **
- Cold Brew Coffee **
- Salted Caramel Crack *

The only flavour we didn't enjoy as much as others was the Lavender & Honeycomb, just not a big fan of lavender. I would go back to try other flavours: Sicilian Pistachio, Mint Choc Brownie & PB&J.
Pris
Right next to the awesome bookshop is a little gelato bar with some curious flavours - watermelon and mint , coconut and kafir lime, PB&J , black sesame, lavender and honeycomb, banana and parsley...

$5 for 1 scoop in a cone. Good value.

Banana and Parsley was pale green in colour but very yummy. PB&J was ok I wished it was nuttier and jammier. Coffee flavour gelato was fantastic , not too sweet and tasted like a REAL coffee though a little course (a tad icy). Kaffir lime and coconut was ok but forgettable.

Waffle Cone is your average cone (doesn't look unique or made in premise type). Prefer the cone at Ben and Jerry's or Baskin's.

Disappointing service, tiny serves. Yes it was the end of the night, but I took my family there especially, and was treated like it was way too much trouble to serve me 4 tiny scoops for $20. If you're going to charge obscene prices for a tiny amount, shouldn't the service should be fantastic??
Chantelle Hiley
Yummm!! We came here around 11pm last night so by that stage a lot of the flavours had run out. You can never go wrong with chocolate and it was so creamy and delicious. The chocolate drizzle on top for an extra $1 makes it extra special

This #gelato was off the charts! #threescoops Banana & Parsley 😳 Lavender & Honeycomb 😍 Honey Sesame Crunch 🍯 #nextlevel #northbridge #chichogelato

Ive been there twice, service is fast and friendly, flavours didn't come up as expected and serving size is really tiny
You could get generous portion from Ben & Jerry w more taste as well
Vink
The flavours were divine. So divine. We tried the black sesame, green tea and white chocolate. The price is ok but it's really small. Ben & Jerry's size is much more generous for the same price with comparable flavour, imo. Inside is cute and they have a chocolate fountain 💯 Might come back for the coffee ~
Michelle
The prices are about usual for gelato ($5 for one scoop, $7 for two) and the service is friendly. There are interesting flavours. I would recommend sampling before buying - the mint chocolate brownie tastes like someone had too many mint leaves in their garden that they needed to get rid of (though aside from that, it's quite nice!)
Eight Seconds Of Food
Cacao stout beer gelato! It was a special collaboration between Chicho Gelato and Mane Liquor using the Eagle Bay Brewery cacao stout beer.

Never had beer gelato before so I wasn't sure what to expect but it tasted surprisingly nice and well balanced - The light cacao stout flavour comes through really well with the gelato.

My wife isn't much of a beer person but she also loved this gelato. I went back and bought a couple more. They are only available at Mane Liquor and I heard they will be doing some more liquor gelato collaborations in the future.

Salted Caramel was Great- Delicious. At Twilight Market- me and my pal thought we try this gelato since we saw it on the news.
Not overly sweet, smooth, perfect consistency.
The flavours were unique and some seem odd, so we thought we could ask for a tester before commiting to a flavour (lavender gelato).
The guy seemed pissy about this but hey, the lady before us tried 3 flavors before buying (she was served by a smiling girl). Also I wanted to confirm to have it served in a cup, not a cone he replys 'this is a cup aint it'- good thing customer contact is less then 1 min.
Will go again, but the guy may put me off.

My first stop was at Chicho Gelato to check out the new Chicho Panino , intrigued after reading the post from one of the EDP bloggers, Laura Moseley. There were three flavors available and we went for the gluten free mango, papaya sorbet with coconut cookie ($8). Loved the sorbet that was sandwiched between two coconut cookies! Great start to the night!

Delicious. What a treat! we loved all the flavours!

Mmm yum. Good quality, delicious ice cream =) chocolate and salted caramel, white choc rosewater and black sesame. Will keep chasing this cart down to experience more flavours!!

Lovely salted caramel gelato... I'm quite fussy about gelato and ice cream and this is definitely my equal (of 2) favourite!

Halloween Treat !!. these guys had a special halloween only gelato for the maylands hawkers market ... spiced pumpkin with toffee popcorn and pecan crunch ... and it was amazing ... definitely taste the pumpkin at first bite, then cinnamon, then the toffee flavours to finish. this is seriously good gelato.

-----13 May, 2014-----
tried the chocolate and salted caramel gelato at the twilight hawkers market. very memorable. great fresh gelato with no flavourings, preservatives or colourings. just all natural.
Queen Of Bad Timing
Their gelato is creamy and milky, with shards of smashed meringue and ribbons of raspberry. It's the perfect sweetness to bring my tastebuds back to life after so many bites of different flavours throughout the day.

o with the cheese alley explored we decided to call it a day. But as we walked through the new addition of artisan lane I got slightly distracted by Chico Gelato…. I’d seen their pavlova gelato on instagram and I couldn’t resist. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d had an ice cream in a cone. Growing up that was the go to dessert. It was a really generous scoop and was really lovely and creamy. Plus there was the added bonus of some crunch from meringue pieces and added sweetness from the swirl of raspberry sauce. Delicious!
