Review Papparich Northbridge - Perth

Food is really tasty... you have a very wide choice to make.. price is affordable and their atmosphere is very pleasant.. and enjoy your time there..

Tasty satay chicken, tasty roti telur. Laksa was average okay. Fried chicken skin is a must try! Super tasty, despite being so bad for you. Fried chicken is pretty average though, not bad but I wouldn't get it again - it has a bit of curry flavouring like curry chicken but not as tasty, and is deep fried. Highly recommend the chicken rice, only $3 per bowl and one bowl is more than enough for 1 person.

It’s Fringe festival and went there after a show, place still very clean. Not many people in there but mid week or maybe the food is not what it used to be. I Roti Canai chicken curry, the roti was great but the rest left me very disappointed. I used to salivate to get there to enjoy my meal. Guess I will not be returning in a hurry

Been there quite a few times and the food is really tasty and reasonably priced for Perth. I was quite excited to find chicken skin on the menu but every time I have had it at Papparich, it was not very crunchy and seemed like it had been cooked a while ago and was just reheated. But otherwise food is really yummy.

with that much variety on their menu, didn't think it will be any good. but what we ordered was surprisingly really good. service was quick too, and staff were friendly.

If you want a incredible meal this not to be overlooked. The menu hear is quiet extensive an say would Carter for most if not all tastes. The food is superb, meals are prepared fast and well presented all 3 of us that dinned hear enjoyed our meals. Dishes are very well priced and good size meal portions.

I should put more trust on google reviewers. I went there for my birthday dinner but I was disappointed with food. However; dessert was not too bad over all.

Came in for a late night bite with the extented family from an art exhibition (also all in the family affair). Despite the rather late hour, we managed to get seats for the the 20-odd group. (Yeah, you'd have to queue during lunch time at Papparich QVB, Melbourne 😅). The food served is as good as what you'd find back home, plus for mine, with extra seafood variety. Plus the portion here is much larger 😊.. While the recipes have been somewhat adapted to 'western' taste (I stand corrected though), happy to say that still maintained the richness and nuances of what the dishes are special for. Service is excellent, everything came in within expectation with no one missing their order. Recommended for those missing or willing to taste Malaysian, Indonesian and Singaporean (I understand its Singapore-owned) food in Perth.

i tried this restaurant chain for the first time when i travelled to perth. friendly staff.. good food.. car park not too far from this place. i would like to try this restaurant here in Jakarta.

Well presented restaurant. The good is decent. Had the curry laksa. Tasted and felt a bit watered down and thin fir my liking but still ok. Drinks were good

The food never dissapoints here, but the highlight of our most recent visit was the delightful waitress. She was fun, full of personality and impeccably professional. She made sure each one of our group of 9 were completely looked after. Love your work Bivouac, can't wait to come back!<br/><br/>Actually....still need to mention the food. We had the 'feed me menu' and it was hard to pick a favourite, but have to say the lamb, oh my gosh, melt off the bone and so rich and tasty.

Great food at great prices. Actually amazing food. The fried chicken skin is to die for, wash it down with a teh tarik and I'm in heaven. I wish the yh would make their prices a little bit cheaper because i buy so many dishes it starts to get a bit too expensive
Davy
For a chain restaurant their food isn’t too bad. I like their prawn mee and curry chicken with roti. The curry is probably one of the better ones I’ve had. Very tasty. Quick service and friendly staff.
Derek Mar
Service alright polite and quick, I enjoyed the chicken curry that came with the nasi lemak, tasty and moist. Other dishes like stay stick and char kuay teow pretty good. Only thing dropping the stars was that portion size was small and I am not a big eater. For example the satay sticks looked rather small and at $15.90 for 6 sticks I think that's a bit steep. Have gotten entree at more posh places for less. Other than that yeah pretty good but expect to spend more than your local Malaysian restaurant.
Mildred Pearce
I used to love this place but the last time I went there, I was somewhat disappointed. The serving sizes are smaller and they now have a surcharge for eftpos. The roti is nowhere near as good as it used to be, sadly. The laksa was pretty good but I found it lacking in depth of flavour, compared to previous ones I’ve had there.
J
Severed quickly even when the store was busy. Food was delicious and is seems like the quality is consistent throughout all PappaRich stores. Their milk tea was sweet and similar to those in SE Asia
Comida
Food came out pretty quick even though it was relatively busy. The drinks were tasty but you could tell the watermelon juice had extra sugar added. My roti was a little small compared to my local PappaRich serving size but was still tasty. The 3 layers tea was yum.
ITSFOODNET
They provide a very cheap offer for the first timer who visited their shop, by downloading their apps and register with your email then show it to them, you can enjoy a AUD $8 for few choices food from the menu. The foods also taste similar with the one I've had in Malaysia. Good place to visit for lunch or dinner.

Great Malay food 🥘 🙌🏻 Ordered Roti Canai dishes and Pappa Fried Rice Noodles. Roti is a good size but if you’re hungry order an extra piece! No split bill & can pay by card.
Nicole
Not the best Malaysian food I’ve had but would say it’s decent as I have yet to find an amazing Malaysian restaurant around but definitely pulls off to satisfy my cravings. My go to order is their Pappa pan mee soup with a side of sambal chilli!
Fatima Moosa De Gois
Very bad service, preferred rotti chanai with coconut jam-pretty good. Ordered tali with chicken curry, roti and dhal. All tasty, but very very little dhal!
JuYeethejoey
Dined in and ordered curry laksa and iced lemon tea. The curry looks appealing but was too bland for my liking. I enjoyed the iced lemon tea and service though. Staff members were friendly and attentive.
Effy Stoner
Overall everything was pricey but acceptable. The Hainanese Steamed Chicken Rice was average but the Nasi Lemak was awesome. PappaRich is a nice place to go if you want some authentic Malaysian Asian food at Northbridge.
Sam
So disappointed with the service..served the food but there was no communication on the floor..after asking several times we have been served plates and the water.
Roni
All the PapaRich restaurants in Perth are great but Northbridge is the best. We usually order the Nasi Lemak and Hainanese chicken rice both delicious. Drinks are also yummy! Price is ridiculously cheap and food is delicious! There’s a reason why there’s always a line!
LoveToEat?
Food was pretty decent but super overpriced. Served warm coke that melted the ice in the glass within seconds and wait staff aren’t particularly friendly. Would give it another go but not in any rush to come back.
Rey Loh
Ah Pappa Rich. Clean, modern and tasty. The roti is really worth trying (it's their best dish here), but the drinks are overpriced and not too good. Out of all the branches, the Nortbridge is the original and the best. So I recommend this one the most, just be prepared for the loooooong queue.
Scott Graham
Midgies everywhere. Ordered curry chicken but they just brought out the curry sauce on it's own, apart from that quick service and food was okay
Liam
I had lunch here on a busy day. The staff took time to explain to me how to order here using the slip after she found out I have never been here. The food was so nice and nicely plated even it was so busy. Everything was so good that we have to go back for more. I love this place for the food and the friendly staffs. Best Paparich in Perth.
Sludge
Seeing this place overseas as well, I thought they must be doing something right. Portions were a generous size ( they should be as the place is quite pricey) but the flavours were quite bland. The roti was fluffy and crispy, but rest of meal was adequate rather than great with my sambal prawns having that mushy consistency which is a tell tale sign of the microwave and chicken curry lacking flavour. Service was fine.
JJ
Service was fast and efficient but a bit overpriced compared to other Malaysian restaurant. Food was quite authentic and the Nasi Lemak and Roti was really delicious.
Caitlin Mahony
Pretty good food, but service is very much a miss. I work two hospitality jobs and know how rude some customers can be, so I’m normally very lenient when it comes to these kind of things. We came in a big group, a bit more than 20 people, and all paid separately so I get that it could have been pretty easy to mix up some orders or miss items here and there. My partner and I ordered dumplings, and had almost finished our mains before they arrived. Which I don’t actually mind, but when we asked the waitress about if they were coming, I received a blank careless expression and no “so sorry let me check that for you”. She just walked away after we asked - quite rude. When she came back to give us the dumplings, she also did not offer any “sorry for the wait” or anything of the sort. Just dumped them on the table and walked away with no smile. Our friend also ordered an ice tea, that at present we are waiting on. We asked the same lady to help us with the ice tea and the same response. It is now 20 minutes later and no one has apologised or even said anything to us about this ice tea. The lady just walked away and continued to serve without resolving anything. *I would like to note that this complaint is only based on the rude red coloured hair waitress that has no idea how to work in hospitality, I can’t speak for the other servers who seem fine*
Finleyhimawan
Service is a little better than the other papparich branch. Ordered char koay teow and the nasi lemak with curry chicken with briyani rice. The fried koay teow is a little saucy, not dry enough but the nasi lemak is pretty good.
Foodie
oh wow!! the menu here is outstanding!! so much to choose from and because there was a group of us we got to try a really varied selection. the curries are fresh flavoursome and authentic. The homemade breads are divine. Been here three times in an attempt to work my way through the menu. Never been disappointed with anything that I have ordered. Affordable, authentic, amazing.
Lorenzo Klees
Had lunch here like every other day, but this time I had a waitress with a blue button shirt, that’s served us with such a terrible attitude, dropped the food without explaining anything or even a simple “enjoy” but nope slammed plate on the table and walked off without a word and that is the same with everything she dropped my table, where the other waitress/waiter was very polite and kind, Sorry to give such a bad review but I work in Hospitality and that isn’t Hospitality.
Nicole Tissott
Finally tried PappaRich with Uber Eats and it was delicious. Had the nasi lemak with beef rendang and egg sago dessert......................

5 of us went on Saturday afternoon, ordered Roti Canai, pretty good, except came with a tablespoon of Dahl, which was miserly. Nasi Lemak was good, Laksa very tasty, full of flavour!<br/>Service, unfortunately worse I have ever experienced in Perth! 3 waitresses served us at different times, the only one who was efficient and friendly was the Nepalese lass. The other 2 were vague and uninterested, one of them literally yelled at one of our guests ‘WHAT?’ She then proceeded to eat while working, had her mouth full of food when attending to table next to us, needless to say she didn’t speak to them. Before we left, myself and another Male customer waiting to use toilets, both engaged, before the waitress walked out of the Male toilet (??) She was a law unto herself, her ‘service’ was embarrassing, will never return to this establishment again.
Jargon
Average laksa at best, lacked flavour. Other dishes seemed to be OK, but nothing spectacular. For the price that you pay, I expected a lot more. The most disappointing was the service, or there lack of. Every young lady that worked there greeted with a frown, and every request for service seemed too much for them to bother, with a reply of either nod or a semi-grunt as if to say 'I can't be bothered'.<br/><br/>For good Laksa at almost half the price? Go to Tak Chi on William Street.
Essy Mark
excellent place. Zero customer service as this isnt the type. The food is so cheap and consistent. I wish their NB store was open till late, they'd be so busy. Love their malaysian bread, not sure what it's called.
Nothappy Jan
From the moment I stepped foot in this foodcourt-esque establishment I knew I was going to be disappointed. You CANNOT let people sit down where ever they want and then move them later to make room for a larger group..<br/>The queue often spotted out the front must be a rent-a-crowd ploy to lure in customers..<br/><br/>If you want good Malaysian go to the stall at the Wembley Food Court....If you want lots of MSG, poor service and flavourless food come here.<br/><br/>Pappanotrich
Cook.eat.carouse.
The good: I like the decor, has that modern vintage look. Dishes comes out quickly once ordered, and they're tasty. The menu is quite diverse.<br/><br/>The bad: For the price paid, the dish portion size isn't as big as I thought it would be. We got the char kwetiau and the noodle in egg sauce (wat tan hor), they're tasty, but a bit one-dimensional, bored with the flavours after a few bites. Same as other diner's review, the servers don't look very pleased when called, has a slightly snappy attitude. They weren't even that busy.
Sladjana Jocic
Good Malaysian food. The chicken curry laksa was quite tasty, however it only comes with a tiny amount of chicken and not a big fan of the bean curd skin. The crispy fried chicken skins were delicious! And the curried chicken, prawn and rice dish was very tender and tasty. Service is quite fast however they forgot our entrees until we asked where it was, had the chicken dumplings and the vegetarian fu chook rolls, both were disappointing and didn't taste great. The ordering system is very convenient and the and the restaurant itself is quite nice.
Foodie In Paradise
A good variety of Malaysian food and drinks on their menu. Food was okay but good to have some rice porridge on a cold winter day. Very average service.
Kudokun
The plus side of papparich is that they have seriously lots and lots of options for all sorts of types: snack, main meals, rice meals, noodle meals, vegetarian options, desserts, and beverages too! So much that I'm sure new comer will have hard time choosing! It's hard to recommend just one, but I like their briyani rice (with mutton - oh man - the meat is super soft), their pratta bread, the three layer tea for drink and the sago pudding as the dessert.<br/><br/>That being said, the downside is probably on their pricing and service. Price is slightly expensive given the portion you get. Service was not too good either. I think they rely so much on you choosing your own menu and writing it down on the paper so that the staff can take it quickly that IF you call the staff to come and you are not ready, they will just leave again and ask you you call them again when you are ready - well at least that's my experience. The female staff wasn't looked too please when we call her but not ready with our order. Not only did she look unpleasant, she immediately said please take ur time to choose and call me again and left us before answering all our questions on the menu. Well, come on, there was so many too choose from and it's not like we took ages! Oh well.

Place is very comfy and nice. Staff also friendly. Need to wait a while. Food so so only nothing special. For the price I'm paying I expect more. Not very value for money. Slightly on the expensive side.
Little Aussie Epicurean
Great Malaysian fare to be had. Alcohol free but the drinks menu is extensive, sweet and delicious. Can't go past a roti canai and a special mention to the vegetarian fried rice which is delicious. Also good for take away!
Shoey Kay
I love coming here to get a little taste of home once in a while.<br/>Ordered beef rendang and roti canai with a side of chicken curry and an extra roti. Authentic taste and nice chunks of meat, had enough left over to take for lunch the next day (and didn't have to pay extra for a container).<br/>$52 for two people (no drinks) and plenty of food.<br/>My only complaint is that the restaurant looks a bit grotty and the tables and chairs needed a good wipe down. It made me scared to venture to the bathroom.
Krishnaa Thadeshwar
Best Malaysian food I ever had; loved their roti canai and dumplings , even their coconut drink was amazing , <br/>Have amazing ambience. <br/>Thumbs up
Trent.savage
Service was ok and the place was clean. However, I can't believe people line up for this place. The worst rendang and nasi goreng I've ever had. Won't be going back.
Mr Robot
The fast food joint of Malaysia, Papparich offers a piece of Malaysian cuisine in Perth. There is a wide range of choices at reasonable prices, so you're surely to find something to your liking. The food has been good everytime I've been and there usually is a line so make sure you come early to skip the wait.
Love Eating Out
Friends recommended this place so we went on a Sunday night to try it out.  The service was good and the staff were very helpful as we had not been there before.  We had the chicken curry and noodles and they were both delicious.  We also tried the lime drink with the ice cream and it was delicious and very refreshing.

On Saturday 19 November 2016 I went to the door of Papparich Northbridge to be told that they were sorry but the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes.  On leaving the restaurant I saw two different groups of people go to the door and be admitted.  The two groups were both Asian, I am English.
Denise Koh
Not bad but nothing amazing! Some items are decently priced, some are a little pricey. I've tried the 'Roti Canai with Tandoori chicken', 'Nasi Lemak with Curry chicken', 'Pappa deep fried chicken skin', 'Ipoh Koay Teow soup with Steamed chicken' (I had the steamed chicken replaced with fried chicken), as well as some of their drinks (Coconut paradise is my favourite so far!) I wasn't a big fan of the 'Ipoh Koay Teow soup with Steamed chicken' but my partner enjoyed both the 'Roti Canai with Tandoori chicken' and 'Nasi Lemak with Curry chicken' very much and I enjoyed the 'Pappa deep fried chicken skin' as a side dish.
Whitney May
I love Papparich. It's great authentic Malaysian food. It's always very busy though so come early or be prepared to line up. Try the Roti for entrée.
Casey
The food is tasty, but I have been here before and ordered a curry to have it come out cold. I had to ask it to be heated again, but received a fresh plate of food, which is great. The laksa is very nice, not watered down like a lot of places do and is a high recommendation. Good option for cheap and quick food.
Gabrielle Trenbath
It was so hard to decide what to choose as it all looked so good but the Chilli Pan Mee that I ended up going for was just perfect. It was a good size and the chilli hit was just want I needed to clear a lingering cold.
Matthew
I come here with my partner as a regular and i love the ordering system, it is so easy and convenient !<br/>Love love the Pappa Chicken Rice, it is my favourite.<br/>However the Fish noodle soup with Tofu was disappointing no flavour in the soup, lacked salt and very oily !
Sybarite
Better late than never! I've no idea what authentic Malaysian food tastes like so had no expectations. The roti was freaking incredible. The mantau were sooooo soft. Beef rendang was good but I'd probably try something else next time (yes I will definitely be back). Side of rice is a good portion size, beef rendang not so big. Two others got laksa which size wise they were happy with but not so happy with the fat not being drained. No issues getting a table on a Thursday lunch time. Incredible drink menu selection. My first teh tarik was deeeeelish. $1.50 surcharge to not have ice in your drink is a bit much! Service faultless. Looking forward to a return trip.
Daniel Coicheci
Overheard about this place apparently having great cheap food and like they said you get what you paid for, nothing to surprising, all of our meals tasted just like an ordinary meal that you get at a takeaway joint, the meals where still quite nice but nothing too fancy, when ordering meals the menu's don't give a rough description of what maybe in the meal but yet they have pictures of what you will be getting, the place is nicely laid out but didn't say much about the Malaysian theme, they're not too bad when making your food when there's almost no one dinning but once you get a few tables come in they take a little too long cook simple meals and pore excess to having a late meal arrive.
Perth Foodaholic
I first tried Papparich when I was in Melbourne, however, since then the franchise has opened up in Perth at 3 locations: Northbridge, Carousel and Joondalup. When they first opened, there use to be a massive queue, however, this has definitely died down now and it is a lot easier to get a seat without waiting too long. The ordering system at Papparich is different whereby you write down your order on the ordering sheet provided and then ring the bell to get the waiter’s attention. I have been here a couple of times and enjoy some of their dishes such as the roti and satay sticks. Other dishes that I have had are ok but some are a bit bland. They do offer a variety of authentic Malaysian dishes such as Assam Laksa, which are not commonly available in Perth. In comparison to other Malaysian restaurants, I think that Papparich serving sizes are smaller and a bit pricier. I personally prefer some of the other restaurants that are south of the river such as Bullcreek Hawkers which offer similar dishes. Overall it is decent food for a franchise.
Big Trev™
This is some quality Malaysian style dining. A place with fried chicken skin on the menu? Yes please. I had the Chicken Rice with a side of satay. It isn't cheap but its a lot cheaper than a flight to KL.
Lady X
Order Pappa prawn mee. Not bad but not the best. Serving size is alright but could be larger with the price. However the staff were attentive and extra chilli was free of charge!
Abhishek Prasanna
I ordered a fish head laksa for dinner. It tasted really good!!! The laksa serving was huge. The service was efficient, as we had to write down the order.
Reynaldo
Definitely not the best Malaysian around. It is pricey and the food is not that great. The char kway tiaw was tasteless and more expensive than other malaysian place :(
Arale-chan
Roti telur and nasi lemak are the best dishes. Hainanese chicken is lacking in flavour. Laksa and prawn noodles are good. Fried kueh teow and satay didn't hit the mark.
Sarah
Loved the menu! Very true to Malaysian cuisine and although it's a franchise, it hasn't deviated far from the Paparich menu in Malaysia. It's downside is the cost; it's quite pricey for the serving size and quality.
LittleAsianGirl
The food here is very similar to the Carousel one. Of course they sell the same food. Can get quite busy and queues are long especially on weekends. Tastes are almost similar.
Andrew
Eat here to have my authentic Malaysian fix, great food, the nasi lamak is very tasty and generous in size, a large choice of dishes to eat, the roti canai is excellent, the staff could be a bit friendlier but overall a decent experience every time.
FoodLord
Ordered Char Kuay Teow. Is it just me or others that have noticed the portion has reduced so much?!!! I was really shocked by the portion when they put the plate down! Where is the quality standard gone?
Elssie
Super quick service and good value for money. We ordered a number of their noodle dishes and the nasi lemak. All really tasty and good serving size. We were way too full but don't regret ordering a side of deep fried chicken skin.... Not great for your heart but so tasty! Cold drinks selection also really good.
Fast And Delicious Eats!
Ate here for dinner last night. Faced a long line but within 5 mins we were seated inside smelling all the delicious aromas. For something different try the crispy chicken skin!
Elisha Allison
Excellent for a cheap eat. Food is good, service ok. Good for a quick bite to eat and good enough value for money. Have been a few times and I like it enough to keep going back.
Queen Charlene
Although I wouldn't eat it every day, the chicken skin dish you have is something original to me! The curry is very authentic to Malaysian cuisine and I thought the entire menu was very reasonably priced. The ordering system made things very easy too.
Wei Sheng Loh
Overrated! food is average and pricey. Stuffed up my order and didn't want to admit. My seafood laksa had only 2 pieces of fishcake and no prawn. Very disappointed. Could have gone to Hawker crusine instead. Don't waste your time queuing up.
Hui Cheng Ng
I first ordered the chilli pan mee as I have been craving for it and it was on the menu. When it came, boy was I terribly disappointed. It was tasteless and the chilli wasn't even spicy. It was rated 3 on its spiciness level on the menu but the nasi lemak's sambal was even spicier. Wasted 15bucks for that. It was so bad I had to order something else 😔
Pennae
Oh how I love roti canai, and it's particularly good here (if pricey). The rendang and chicken are a bit average, though. Teh tarik was fine, not outstanding. But oh the roti canai...
Whats_wong
Dinner for 2 - surprisingly no line<br/>Ate: laksa and Cha kuay teow<br/>Drank: Teh Tarik<br/><br/>Food: food was average, nothing special. Laksa was a tad oily and lacked flavour. Cha kuay teow was a bit mushy and missed the burnt flavour and egg you need to make it taste delicious. Shouls probably just stick to the roti canai<br/>Drink: sweet but I guess that's a Teh Tarik<br/>Service: fast and helpful<br/>Price: have they gone up? expensive for the quality ($15 per meal) <br/><br/>Overall: hype for papparich has probably reduced due to cheaper options around nb. However their service is good but food could be better.
Jay Cotterell
Roti!! Just like they do it in Malaysia. We had the roti chanai with extra roti. The sambal was delicious too. Good food, good service, great prices. They don't serve alcohol but their non alcoholic drinks are really good. <br/><br/>
Simson Charivupurayidam
Visited several times n enjoy the food always. I walked in paparich northbridge with a group on 22 feb for dinner . We are very happy with your service n food .
Eddoism
I came here for a quick dinner with some friends. Although there was a line, we got in after a 10 minute wait. Wasn't too bad considering it was a friday night.<br/><br/>I ordered the special nasi lemak. It came as a very large serving and I struggled to finish it. Very satisfying and tasty. I've been here before but my feeling is that it is on the pricy side for malaysian food. I guess the extra costs goes into good service, fun experience and good atmosphere.
Zee
Food was quite good. The staff were not as friendly as I thought they would be. We had to wait outside and they only let people in when everyone in your group was there.
Irenenyein
The food here is always amazing! The roti is soft and fluffy but i wish they gave more chilli sauce and yogurt with the curry. There is a variety of drinks to suit everyones tastebuds and they taste awesome
David
Was here on a sweltering day for a quick lunch. Crazy fast service with food and drinks. Everything tastes great but it was all at hefty price compared to similar restaurants.
Cecilia
I just had a very disappointing experience the paparich Perth. My friend and I went there at 12:30pm on 16th Jan 2016 for lunch. We ordered fried noodle, Onion Roti with Rendeng beef and ice team green tea. My friend's fried noodle was served first. Until he finished the noodle i was still waiting for my dish. I've checked with one of the waitresses twice, and was told that it was cooking and would be served soon. Around 1:05pm I was told that there's misunderstanding in kitchen and apparently my order wasn't placed and the kitchen just started cooking the roti. I was told by another waitress that it would take another 5 minutes and she asked if I want to cancel the order. I was very dissappointed as I haven't eaten anything and was starving. So I agreed to wait for another 5 minutes as she advised. And it pissed us off that instead of 5 minutes, we waited for another 25 minutes and still nothing came up. I saw roti plates coming out from kitchen to other tables and I couldn't understand what the hell going on with my order. I ended up cancelling my order, paid the bill and walking out starving. I sit in Paparich for one hour for a simple roti dish, asked 3-4 waitress to check my dish and ended up having nothing. It was not busy at least half tables were vacant.

Back in Perth so sick of Jamie's so walked to north ridge thought would try pappa rich again<br/><br/>Ordered entree and main meal well main came within 4 minutes gob smacked <br/><br/>Beef rendang fried chicken and biriyani cold and bland<br/><br/>Mixed entree satays average <br/><br/>Staff too busy fooling around <br/><br/>Can even buy a beer in this restaurant Pappa rich thank you you'll never see my money again
PerthfectBreakfast
Not bad, the only thing I really really enjoyed is the roti with curry dip. Both the plain and egg version were good.<br/><br/>Deep fried chicken skin is also really tasty if you can overcome the guilt of ordering it. <br/><br/>Chicken rice has always been a favourite of mine and theirs is way more expensive than Take Chee and not even half as good and clearly microwaved to order. <br/><br/>Fantastic selection of Malay style drinks though.
J Smith
Inconsistent. I had an amazing meal the first time I came here. Rendang was tasty, roti was freshly made. Coconut shake was a delight! I raved about it to my partner, when we went his noodle order was awful he left most of it and my roti was hard as if it had been overcooked or a few days old. Prawn dumplings were soggy and wasn't fresh. Third time was the nail in the coffin.. Dismal dishes.
Al P
Though papparich food is good it is not good that they are exploiting their staff at the Perth 3 papparich restaurants. My friend got paid $14 an hour and ripped off even more on her last money when she quit. They told her she would be paid a certain amount per hour yet when the money came it was well below that.
Bustola
This was YUMMMMMM! How good is roti!? Went with a party of 5 and everyone left satisfied. Super fresh food and flavours, plenty of spice. The roti bread was so fresh and delicious it was almost like eating a croissant... Definitely heading back to Pappa Rich!!!!

We were intrigued with this place always having a queue to get in, so curiosity took the better of us, so we took our place and waited 15 minutes for a very uncomfortable table that was so close to another table we could almost taste their food, and it was in the walk way from the kitchen to the tables, (more privacy at the local KFC).  Once we had been given the run down on how to order etc we selected our meals and placed our orders.  Mine and my wife's came within 10 minutes, however my daughters meal took another 10 minutes and only after we asked where hers was.   It was obviously forgotten as what came on a plate next was totally awful, putting it nicely.  It was the vegetarian sweet and sour dish which resembled a chopped up red onion not raw or cooked, canned pineapple which was cold and sloppy placed on a wilted lettuce leaf that you wouldn't feed to your chickens....but the clanger was the 4 pieces of fried tofu that were the size of peas and so chewy that my daughter had a sore jaw from chewing it!!  very embarrassing for a restaurant people where people are lining up.  Plenty better restaurants around Northbridge than this one.  Good luck
Yummilicious
Food - delicious so many to choose from 😋 <br/>Service - Excellent. The staff here are all friendly. <br/><br/>Can't wait for the coconut paradise to come back 😊
For The Love Of Food
Enjoyed my first visit to Papparich. Despite having seen queues before, we walked straight in and managed a table for 5 people. The restaurant was not even full. I ordered the Roti Canai and Satay Chicken. Everything was amazing. The dahl and sauce were delicious, the sambal was spicy and sweet and the roti was just like I remember in Malaysia; hot, flakey, crunchy, soft and delicious. The satay was perfect, chicken cooked well with really tasty sauce. There was a small side of cucumber and red onion. It would have been nice to have a few more vegetables, or just more cucumber to cut through the richness. The waitress brought tap water for the table when asked. They are friendly and service was relatively quick, although one person's meal did come out a lot sooner than the rest. Would definitely return.

I quite enjoy papparich, its not often you find Roti in perth as good as you get in malaysia, however papparich comes close. Didn't enjoy the chicken curry with it, the dahl was lovely though. The service here is terrible, zero talking to the customer just grab your ticket and leave ... very noisy but reasonably cheap
Jonnie Bee
Not bad - I only tried the Roti Chenai - the roti was piping hot and flakey, the chicken curry was boneless and authentic tasting with 2 great condiments- great service with a smile! Winning
Wulan Sucipto
I'm trying their nasi lemak and it was great. It so tasty. I love the one with fried chicken and sambal eggplant. Also the one that you must try is their roti canai. They make it fresh.

Whenever I miss Malaysian food, I know I can trust PappaRich to cater to my cravings. They have a huge selection of Malaysian yummies and drinkies! I would make this place a staple of mine if it's not for the price they charge.

Great food and atmosphere, the food took me back to Penang and the Cameron Highlands. Best beef rendang and chicken curry I have had in Perth (except for my wife's cooking) so good to finally get a decent roti in Perth, something that has been missing for a long time. The restaurant is modern, busy and yet inviting, we will be back and bring our friends! Oh get there for a early lunch or dinner to avoid the queues. Only complaint is that they don't open earlier for breakfast!
Too Munch To Handle
Have been to this branch a few times. The place is always packed, and staff always seem extremely rushed and not all that attentive. I often find that the main meals come out at very different times. Food is okay, with some hits and a few misses. I love the flaky, sweet roti canai with the chicken curry. Unfortunately the beef in the signature beef rendang is often tough and lacking flavour. Regardless, it still remains one of the more popular places for Malaysian food in Perth.

Roti Bom was terrific, just like in Malaysia. It's a slightly thicker and and more dense version of a typical roti canai and includes white sugar and condensed milk as dips. It made for a great dessert along with the teh tarik (which wasn't so sweet thankfully!) The hype has definitely died down for this place (about time too) as most Papparich stores in Malaysia are never this busy. Would definitely come back for the Roti Bom!!
Emily
Oh my gosh, we could NOT select what to eat! every meal and drink looks really nice on the menu.. We ended up choosing the fish anchovy noodle chicken soup (sounds complicated but its nice!) and Pappa Wat Tan Hor (fried noodle and prawn) for main, satay chicken for starters & soya milk jelly and barely grass jelly drinks (I know, what fattys!). We left feeling massively full (in need for a walk) and satisfied. Very casual dining with efficient service and everything came out together. With respect to authenticity of the meals, I don't know how similar or how close they resemble those from the home country but the satay sauce is very similar to that found on the streets in Senggigi, Lombok in Indonesia.Cant wait to go back & chose something else off the menu!x

Food tasted average & I have to agree it is pretty overrated. The sambal prawns tasted weird..almost stale. Food came out cold, however we got free tea and the total bill was pretty affordable.
Esme Watson
Tasty food. I had nasi lemak with beef rendang, the meat was super tender. The desserts were also delicious. No ambience here just a quick place to eat. We were rushed in and out.

Arrived and was seated quickly, waitress was lovely and helpful. Ordered and within 5 minutes our meals came out. The meals were awesome!!! The chicken rice was amazing and by far my favourite. Highly recommend it! <br/><br/>Definitely will be back

One word... Awesomeness! Being vegetarian it was lovely to see the mock meat on the menu, really made my day. The Roti Canai with curry mutton was simply delightful and so was the vegetarian curry mutton with fried noodles. I highly recommend to and vegans and vegetarians out there who enjoy Asian cuisine. Very nice, will definitely be back again!
Emily
I tried once in the shopping center, I had seafood dry noodle, it wasn't good, I only ate 1/3, those waitress wasn't very polite.<br/>I gave it a go for the second chance which is in north bridge, I went there with two colleagues, we are so disappointed. skewers are so dry, hot milk tea is too small, toast is full of white sugar on top, I feel like eating sugar, that's disgusting. Chicken rice's flavor's way too stronger. The price expensive.<br/>Once again the waitress want nice to customer, they seem aggressive and careless, specially the manager. The only good thing is the shop looks nice and comfortable seat.<br/>Three of us wasn't like it at all, it is the worse Asian food we have never had, I will not recommend to friend. Won't be back anymore.
Dale & Hannah
It was a pretty fun experience dining here tonight. The restaurant is very well lit and the decor is quite modern so it's a very comfortable place to be. The service is super efficient and all the staff were attentive.<br/><br/>The satay sticks were great. Probably the best I've had in a while. I ordered a Nasi Lemak and it was nice and spicy. Dale ordered the Dry Egg Noodle with Curry Chicken. He said it was the most satisfying meal he'd had in a while.<br/><br/>He also ordered a Lychee Soda which tasted AMAZING, and left me feeling pretty jealous with my coke zero.<br/><br/>Would go again.
M.elisa
Bland food but good Lychee soda. Was expecting more as the que line is always full. But I was disappointed in the food and service was poor.
Katii
Really enjoyed eating here. The food came out really fast and the place is very clean. I was quite impressed with their menu selection - especially the drinks menu. There's a lot to choose from. I recommend their seafood laksa, worth a try!
Sarah
I went here for dinner the other day. Good value for money and large portions but nothing special. I had the Wat tan hor and my friend had the assam laksa. It was OK but just like food court food. I don't understand why people would queue for below average food.
Maddi
Fantastic idea for a restaurant. Write down your order using the menu codes, push a button and wait... Minimal service is required as the food cycles through by itself. Fantastic food with great vegetarian options. Dessert is authentic and the drinks will have you intrigued! Fantastic place. Will go again.
Michele Augello
Food is always good , the constancy is there , drinks are delicious, hi recommended if you don't mid wait a little bit in the cue , service is very fast , food is nice and taste , sometimes there are so busy so one mistake really affect the system.
Eight Seconds Of Food
Can't believe this place still has queues for dinner given it's been open for so long now! <br/><br/>Overall the food is still pretty solid though a bit pricier than your average malaysian fare in Perth. You can find other places in Perth than do better versions of certain dishes, but few can match the variety that Papa Rich offers as their menu is very extensive and has pretty pictures next to every menu item =)<br/><br/>My favourites are the nasi goreng special, ABC mixed ice dessert, roti banana with icecream. Drinks-wise, I love the iced organic soy bean - Could drink it all day long.
OnePointFive
First visit to Papparich in Northbridge. We ordered 5 dishes. Really impressed with Roti Telur with Curry Chicken, Satay Chicken & Char Kway Teow. They were impeccable! Rendang Beef was average & Curry Laksa Seafood tasted a bit weird. We'll definitely go back to order more rotis and satays!
Bheema
I have grown to like papparich in malaysia. So it was a good welcoming move that someone managed to open one in Perth (or 2 for that matter). i had my favorite roti canai with dhal / sambal. the roti was so far the best we have had. now you may wonder if the roti is so good why did i score so low? bloody dhal was 2 teaspoons much. 2 teaspoon! even the sambal provided was ample! <br/>It might have been better to just serve the roti without any dhal on it, would have made no difference. When the amount of sambal is more than the 2-droplet of dhal curry, something is seriously wrong. apart from that, my wife had pan-mee, and according to her it was superb.
Claire
We were super happy to be seated straight away for 12:30 lunch on a Sunday afternoon- we'd previously tried at a similar time in summer and couldn't handle the big wait for a table then. I'm not sure there's a magic formula for timing- sometimes it seems very busy, but it ebbs and flows, and service is very quick, so turnover is pretty good.<br/><br/>I lived in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia as a kid, and one of my fondest memories is a Sunday morning breakfast of roti canai with dhal and chicken curry. Since the sad demise of Suria Cafe we've been hunting for a place in Perth that can do it as well, and I give Papparich a big thumbs up. Super flavour in the chicken curry, fluffy roti, delicious dhal. One of our other diners went for beef rendang instead of chicken curry, and declared it delicious- though it left something to be desired for temperature, being quite cold when served.<br/><br/>Our youngest diner had a go at the Pappa Wat Tan Hor combination noodles- thick, flat rice noodles with prawns, fish cakes and chicken in a thick egg gravy. The flavours were great, but the gravy was a bit more than we were expecting- it was more like a thick soup than anything, and we didn't end up finishing it.<br/><br/>We also had a classic teh tarik (yum) and a rose/ soy drink, both of which were very good.<br/><br/>We liked the novelty of writing down your own order and buzzing for collection- very efficient. Fun to watch the chefs making the roti in the kitchen, too. <br/><br/>Looking forward to coming back soon to try some of the noodle soup dishes as well!
El
So good!!<br/>I love this place! Ridiculously quick, delicious, big variety and cheap! What more could you ask for?<br/>I loved the flavour of the anchovy soup, never had anything like it before, they balanced the strong hit of anchovy so well. And the drinks....dessert in a glass!<br/>But oh man... The steamed buns with Kaya! I could have eaten 10 of those! I had only very recently heard about the idea of Kaya and was so excited to see it on the menu, now I understand why there were so many options with it! I'll be back to try them all!<br/><br/>I also like the "press the button" when you're ready to order... Cause it took me ages to decide.
PerthNewbie
Always busy, and always a line out the door but never have to wait long.<br/>Food is always served really fast, and is good value with big portions.<br/>Fast, cheap, quality food and friendly staff.
Anna
Smart idea to order by ourselves and press the button to get served. Wish most of the restaurants can have this system. Well priced food and big enough to feel full
Inexology
Food always get served really quickly. It's quite easy to find lunch spot during weekday lunch time. I like the way we can order food just by pressing the bell on the table. <br/><br/>Briyani isn't their strong point. I like their chicken rice, but some friends said that it was "just okay" (compared to Ipoh's). Everyone's favourite is: chicken curry chop and chilli pan mee. I can say that the food portion here is generous.
Audrey
Finally, some decent malaysian street food in a nice setting, with wait staff uniformly dressed. <br/>I didn't mind the 20 minutes wait out the door for lunch. The menu is extensive and spans across many pages. Making a decision of what to eat was the problem as everything looked so delicious!  The ordering system is smart, not as smart as what you would get in other modern IT savvy restaurants, but a good start for Perth. We had the roti canai with chicken curry, laksa and nasi bryani. Everything was delicious and looked exactly like how it was pictured and featured in the menu.  The chilli jam was to die for.
Katie Huirong Lim
Your gluten free options are the satay chicken and nasi lemak with fried chicken. Yay right? Definitely! Always better than nothing to do eat I'd say. I have had other food there before my gluten free weeks and I really enjoyed it. It's a taste of home in perth. It's almost there but not quite there but still satisfying. Definitely a go to place to try various Asian dishes.
Tash
Yummy food, cool ordering system. Good was well sized and cheap! I had an Indian settle sticky chicken with rice and a coconut bread - it was lovely! Would defo go again, for the price!

Love this place, never fails to surprise me, wide variety of Malaysian food and I love the chicken dishes!<br/>Drinks here are a little pricey but definitely worth.

One of the best laksa's I've ever eaten. Such good flavour! Well priced too. Food comes out so quickly after being ordered, so a great place if you are on the go. Also has some good Asian drinks.
PerthFoodieGirls
Love PapaRich! The crispy roti and the delicious moist chicken. This place is perfect and cheap too. Meals come out quickly so you're not waiting for long.
Baristar
awesome! I love papparich. been here so many times now and I still can't get enough. I like their vegetarian options. staff is always quick and helpful. won't be long till I'm back again.

Ok don't let the exterior fool you. .. Long lines don't mean good food. As I walk in and order my food a table direct from me had the misfortune of finding hair in their food. I'm thinking geez should I walk out or give it a try. The braver side of me said I'm here let's try this. First of the rank was my food , the noodles with their plain tasting chicken. Too no ones surprise my plate had an offending hair , waiters offered no apology except took my plate away. The rest of the group had there meals Brought out while my chicken went cold. My noodles eventually came back out but it made me wonder is this the same plate . for the rest of our meal we on our guard for more hair. They had an extensive drink menu unfortunately mine was undrinkable. I ordered the coconut juice thinking it wouldn't be sweet. Boy was I wrong . My 'juice' was full of condensed milk. Too sweet to drink and should come with a warning , drink too much and chances are you'll be a diabetic . My other two companion had dried up chicken chop with there rice . It was plated next to frozen veggies . My little companion had chips and nuggets. <br/>

First time at Pappa's. We got seated in a couple of minutes being a two. The ordering I read how to do online prior (fill out the piece of paper with the references on the menu and then press the buzzer) which is good as they don't tell you. I ordered the chicken tandoori roti, the roti was very good, the chicken well cooked but not too much meat and the sides complemented well, the chilli sneaks up on you! Partner order the chicken with noodles, the chicken was so tender and noodle tasty. We also order as a side the chicken satay, although good the price was far too high for what it was so I wouldn't order again. I look forward to going back and trying a few other dishes.
Jackson Browne
Good Malaysian food. I've been here a few times and tried a few things off the menu, it's always been delicious. I especially like the eggplants in the laksa! The only down side is we've had trouble on a couple of occasions with complex orders (when people have itemised things separately on the order and they've not picked it up in the kitchen) and the desserts. One time we cancelled the dessert as we were waiting for ages... But otherwise it's been good.

Wouldn't feed this to my chooks

Good food, cheap and comes out fast. Great quick eatery in the middle of Northbridge.

Love!!! Great service and atmosphere. Love the system of ordering my own food. Fairly quick and so cheap!!! The flavour in the food was great. Will be back for the roti bread and curry sauce for sure!

Heading to PappaRich on a weekday for lunch is one way to guarantee you’ll miss the crowds. We were seated straight away, and there was no sign of a queue when we arrived or when we left, unlike during the evenings. PappaRich was established in 2005, with its first outlet in Kuala Lumpur, and now there are 70 outlets in Malaysia and 16 in Australia with 2 in Perth – Northbridge and Westfield Carousel. Their menu features a variety of Malaysian favourites, including Roti Canai, traditional Hainan bread with Kaya and butter, Satay, Nasi Lemak, Fried Kuey Teow, Curry Laksa, Asam Laksa, Chicken Rice, Prawn Mee and Mee Goreng. PappaRich also has an extended variety of favourite Malaysian drinks, including Kopi Cham Milo, teh and jelly, and iced milo along with many more to choose from. The menu and ordering system at PappaRich is an interesting aspect – on your table you will find ordering sheets and pencils where you are required to put the corresponding number of your chosen dishes from the menu. When you’re ready to order, you press a bell to alert a waitress, which rings throughout the restaurant. Throughout your meal, you’ll hear bells ringing frequently. A ordered the Nasi Lemak with Curry Chicken and she was also impressed with her meal, especially with the chicken curry that didn’t feature any gristle unlike the version we had in Canberra. I ordered the Nasi Lemak with beef rendang and I was really impressed with the rendang curry. It had a deep flavour to it and the beef was really tender. The

A waste of time and bad customer service. Went in the place, waitress tried to squeeze us in a corner where there were already customers on the other end on the table. Asked if we could sit on the other table and waitress found it troublesome. The business was totally not busy at all as it was pass mealtime. <br/>Sat down and the waitress introduced the ordering system to us rudely. <br/>Waited for half an hour and nothing has come out, not even 2 cups of milk tea. So we asked the waitress what's going on with the order. Only found out they did not have our order and came back to ask us to put in another order again. Not even apologised. So we decided to just walk out as it is a total waste of time. Weirdly the manager doesn't even care about customers walking out.

Very nice food :) the staff are hard working and accommodating. Very nice drink menu - very unique. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends

No queues at 10.30am for brunch!. I read all the bad reviews but still wanted to try Papparich for myself and I'm glad I did. <br/>I ordered the assam laksa, it was hot & sour and certainly satisfied my craving for it. <br/>My husband had the nasi lemak which he was happy with, though he would've liked more of the sambal sauce.<br/>We shared the satay chicken skewers which I thought had an authentic taste.<br/>At this early time of the day the service was very attentive and fast.<br/>It was abit more expensive than other Malaysian restaurants but I thought it was worth it. We had a lovely brunch there.

All talk?. Why is there a line to eat here. <br/>There are alot more better Malaysian food out there and cheaper. <br/>Most of the food was dry or sweet. <br/>I don't like laksa but some of my family members had it and they enjoyed it. <br/>I got beryani rice with chicken, prawn and eggplant. Prawn was way over cooked but suprisingly eggplant was really yum. <br/>I think papparich is the fad at the moment. If you like paying higher prices to sit in a branded restaurant, this is the place. <br/>I went over to Malaysia and most of the time these restaurants were empty. I wonder what that means?
Luvochu.xo
Waste of time. I queued up the other night on a Wednesday at 5:30pm only to be seated at 6:15pm.<br/>I went in to find staff rushing all over the place to make ends meet with orders which is what I expected, however.<br/>What I didn't expect was one of the people in a black shirt, the young gentleman with a Mohawk or something, standing around whilst his fellow colleagues rushed to serve tables and whilst I was waiting to get my order. I am a paying customer and waited about 5 minutes to order. <br/>My girlfriends and I are appalled. Never coming back again.

Not up to malaysian standard. What a shame!, a beautiful restaurant but not showing off more of Malaysian cuisine. very limited cuisine, dessert was not as good as it show on menu, as a malaysian , what makes our cuisine unique , we used real stuff , not substitute, coconut milk is the major trick in most dessert and dishes..not much to invest in a coconut grater that grate fresh coconut, thus fresh coconut milk..what about showing off the nonya kuih, aussie would love them, real indian rojak or penang or sarawakian rojak will be refreshing.I tasted the satay, not authentic, needs more chargrilling of the meat and the sauce needs defining... I feel the raw ingredient have been compromise and authenticity is lacking..But I love the ambiance int he restuarant, staff is polite and excellent, service excellent but quite disappointed and so are my group of friend"s opinion,..oh the roti are excellent, curry too..<br/>p/s these are feedback and they are good for bringing awareness to motivate you to produce the best in town.thanks

Papparich. I had a great experience at PappaRich! I went on a Friday night and the line looked big however we managed to get in with only a 15 minute wait and with 7 people to seat. The service was very quick however we didn't feel any pressure to order or eat quickly to move things along. Across the table the food was given great ratings by the majority & it was cheap! Would definitely dine here again!
ZiYu Zhang
We have 3 waiting outside to be seated and the last 1 is on the way. It is ridiculous been told that we have to wait all my friends arrived before I could have a table for seat. Bad service!
Tisamystery
Tastes of sugar?. Is it just me or does everything have too much sugar at Papparich - and I'm talking food, not drinks. Prata taste sweet, curries taste sweet. Even the chilli sauce tastes like sugar.
T
Bland- Much Ado About Nothing. Had a chicken and rice dish minus the flavour. I could not eat even half of this grey blubber with the skin still attached (blegh) or the slimy tasteless noodles that came with it. The little food that I did eat gave me sharp stomach pains as well.<br/><br/>Did I order the wrong dish at the wrong time, or has everyone lost their taste buds? Because the restaurant is always packed and people wait for tables!<br/><br/>Also, there is nowhere to wait for a takeaway order (except perhaps outside) and I felt like I was in the way no matter where I stood. It is a very crowded and cramped restaurant, and I got the impression by the waiter boy that I should order faster, because I was obviously cramping his style!
Garystevens
We'll be back. We've often see the queues lined up outside Papparich and have planned to go there but never quite seemed to have the patience, nor the inclination, to line up.<br/>We had our opportunity on the weekend while we went to Northbridge for a fringe show, we walked straight in (mind you it was only 6:30pm) and were given a seat by a very friendly and polite waitress.<br/><br/>After perusing the menu for awhile we made our pick and rang for our waiter, within a few minutes of placing our order our drinks arrived, and not long after that our entree's followed.<br/><br/>For mains I had the Nasi Lemak, and whilst I read some of the previous reviews which bagged the dish, I for one would have to argue, it was fantastic.<br/>I'm not overly fussed if it was 100% original or not, it was a great dish non the less, and I would gladly have it again, I likes what I likes.<br/><br/>Do your taste buds a big one and get them into Papparich, the service was brilliant and the food fantastic and very cheap.<br/><br/>Gary
Pink_Tulips
One of the best assam laksas in Perth!. Arrived at Paparich shortly before 7pm for a quick dinner prior a show at the Perth Arena that was meant to commence at 8pm!<br/>Yes, the queue might have looked long but it moved fast enough. <br/>The waiter's assessment of how long it would take us to be seated wasn't too far off - we were seated at around 7.15pm and managed to (quickly) finish dinner by 7.45pm.<br/>Onto the food... the assam laksa was tasty without being too salty and went perfectly with the crisp chicken skin!<br/>Rather than gulp our drinks, we amended the drinks order to a takeaway and that was hassle free.<br/>Service was friendly and efficient which helped us get to the show on time.
Terry Tibs
Great!. Excellent value for money. A top Nasi lemak! Will return.

Overhyped and sweet curries, great roti. Was very excited as had seen the long lines in front of this restaurant, so assumed it must be good. I liked the different concept of writing down our order. The freshly squeezed juice was diluted with water. The service was quick, despite it being full. Most of the dishes we tried - the red chicken curry, the prawn sambal, the satay, the yellow dhal side was sweet with average flavouring. The curry chicken was cocunutty and decent, with a generous serving. Even roti canai was sweet, but delicious. Biryani rice was okay. Egg noodles were typical hawker fare- good but not exceptional, I guess reasonable for the price. They're surely banking on the ambience. If I come back all I'll have is the different types of roti!
Leon Kingston
Rocked up at 7:30 pm last night with about 5 groups in the line before us, waited only a few minutes and then we were seated. Ordered the satay chicken, fried mee, kuey teow and the roti Canai with beef rendang. Food only took 5 minutes for the first dish and only 10 minutes for all 4 dishes to be on our table. Service was great even though it was flat out. As close to the Papparich in MY as your going to get. Have no idea what the other negative comments were about as I read them prior to trying out Papparich. Price is a lot cheaper than mains in Northbridge at a regular Asian restaurant. Will definitely be going back.
PerthMakanMata
Rude young boy. Having dinner now. Young boy today 5:30pm serving horrible attitude and expression. Stood there instead of picking up the heavy menu asked to be handed. Not impressed. Won't come again.
Jason Ceilia Tan
Overhype and overprice. It is about the worse thing that can happen to perth.no thanks to soulless food at inflated price.now all the Asian restaurants going to up their price given that their food is way too cheap compare to what papparich is serving.damn.
THE FORK
Disappointing meals. Fairly bland, little flavour in the assorted dishes. The service was excellent & polite. <br/>Won't rush back.
Alanabanana1
Should have gone with all the reviews below and not go.. But as there was always a line outside I thought there had to be something good about it. Wouldn't go again, meal was just ok and too many other good Asian restaurants nearby much better! Won't return
I Eat Therefore I Am
Meh. Despite the bad reviews I still checked it out for lunch. I should have listened to the views of my fellow Urbanspooners and avoided. The roti with chicken curry was OK but the chicken rice was sub par.<br/>Considering that Tak Chee is a 5 minute walk away, cheaper and much better I should have gone there as usual. <br/>Alas.

It was fine. Went for Sunday lunch, 5 of us, waited in line 15'. Extensive menu, staff were quick and courteous and food arrived very quickly. We all found the food to be well presented and very tasty, and the wide range of drinks was interesting and satisfying. Prices are very reasonable. It made a nice change from dim sum. We have no complaints and will certainly go again.
Juldi
Whats the hype about?. Have been wanting to try this for months and finally had my chance last night but was disappointed. Kway Teow came out within minutes of being orderd and was more like chop suey. The rest of the food arrived in quick succession with only the satay arriving after what could be considered an appropriate wait. Rendang was just a beef curry and the roti like a (very thin) piece of fried puff pastry so thin infact that I couldn't use it to scoop up the curry. Barley a hint of rose in the rose syrup drink. Beef Satay I must say was enjoyable as was the sago pudding. We were done within an hour and a line of people were waiting for a table. Why?
James_ha95
Hit and miss. 2 great dishes versus undercooked chicken and misplaced dessert order leading to 30 minute wait for a piece of roti bread...
Stephen Wedding
Great food. Went for lunch with wife, then the following night with the wife and kids. Short queue out front as very busy - good sign. Food fantastic, came out quickly, no-one disappointed. Fed 4 of us with 2 entrées and drinks for $105. The roti, curries, sartees and laksas beyond awesome, traditional tasting food. Strange ordering system with doorbell buzzer but works fine. Will be back.<br/><br/><br/>-----30 Dec, 2014-----<br/><br/>Good malaysian food. I've eaten all through asia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, etc. I've eaten here twice and it was sublime, good authentic malaysian food, good price, good servings, it is what it is, I'll be back for more...ps : the queue to get a seat at 7pm tells the story...
Eat My Way Through Perth
Don't waste your precious time. This place boasts authentic Malaysian cuisine however you can make better cuisine with the 2 minute Coles branded chicken noodles !!! I'm sorry to say but the hype was not worth it for this chain of restaurants. Keep your hopes low as the food here is not what it's cracked up to be. We ordered the noodles with prawn broth (?) & chicken - this was tasteless. My friends ordered the roti - ok. The chicken & rice - go else where. I can recommend about 4 other restaurants in NB which blow this place out of the water.
Dn1977
Not good. The food we ordered was not good at, everything had sugar in it. Imagine chicken with sugar...was not happy at all. Thought the restaurant was brilliant because whenever you walk pass there is a queue to get in. Never go there again.
Candice
I don't understand the hype. It wasn't Papparich it was Pappapoop!!! The food was dry and bland. Won't be going back. Disappointed after reading all the great reviews.
Little Food Adventures
Good feed, but don't expect too much !. Very loud and lively atmosphere. Not the best chicken rice around but decent for it's price. Chicken is soaked in oil, soft and the bones are removed (very considerate). Rice is dry and hard to eat without some liquids. Sadly, the accompanying soup was way too salty. Drinks (very well priced) and desserts (slightly overpriced) are delicious ! I recommend trying the Teh Tarik. Don't expect a relaxing atmosphere since I felt slightly rushed by the workers. However, I will return to try other dishes as I am satisfied with the serving sizes, services (most of the time) and price.
James T
Overrated. It's not worth the wait and money. Nasi Lemak was OK,other than that, the food was literally worse than the majority of Asian restaurants in Perth.
Koala Koala
What is the hype, people?. All about the ambience and not about the food. Decent and edible food, although the long queues set standards which were unattained.<br/><br/>Wake up folks, it's just hawker food
Natalieb
Hmmm it's ok. First visit last night , the food is pretty good (especially for the price), however, the service is not. The buzzer system is effective once you get your head around the concept, but it seems if you want anything other than your options on the paper checklist (for example water or napkins) you will have to ask multiple times. Good for a quick, cheap meal.
Miss Piggy
It's good enough, but the wait makes it not worth it. Personal opinion - the place is over hyped and over rated. The food is good (unless of course you're from South East Asia or familiar with the food), but for everyone else, not likely you'll know the difference. It's pretty decent food for a decent price - of course you can get cheaper at a hawker center, but you go to Pappa Rich for the brand and setting anyway (dining snobbery is ok!). There is a large variety on the menu and service is not bad - they do try although the busy restaurant does make it hard to get good service.<br/><br/>However, depending on how long you wait - it can really tip the scale from acceptable to unacceptable. The food is not good enough for a 1 hour wait to make it worthwhile. So yes, do try it out, but make sure you go for an early lunch or dinner for a short wait.

Just terrible. Roti was nice but not worth the wait.<br/><br/>New review: <br/><br/>Had nasi lemak with the fried chicken. Food was fast but chicken was cold. Wanted to give you guys another chance but the cold chicken was cold

Absolutely not worth the money. I had the nasi briyani and it was subpar, overpriced and overrated. 15 dollars for 2 small pieces of chicken. The ban mian noodles are even worst. 3 mouthful and its gone. We lined up like sheeps because we saw the queue and thought it might be nice. turn out to be very substandard typical malay food. This is coming from a malaysian

Tad overrated. Came here for dinner at 7pm on a Saturday night. There was a huge line outside and we waited almost an hour. The ordering system is a bit strange but it's effective. You write the code of the dish you want from the menu on a piece of paper and press a buzzer so the waiters collect it. I had the dry kway teow with steamed chicken. It was great a little plain at first but together with the sweet moist chicken it's good but nothing mindblowing! My friends had the roti canal with curry chicken and tandoori chicken. The portions are a little small, you definitely should order extra roti canal. I thought both chickens were ordinary and the chilli sauce not even spicy. The drinks menu is awesome! The tropical lime is so good and the other lychee drink just as good. The food is good all round but does it live up to the hype? Not really. But it's worth a try even just once.

Went for lunch with friends. Waited for 20 min to get a table. Interior of the restaurant is good. Food is ok ok for that price. But service is very disappointing. None of the staff have basic service skills. Theyvdont even take the order, we have to write the order for them, new level of service?? If u need anything u need to press a buzze "wow".no body even care to ask you how the food was. Not even thanking any customer. Please improve your service standards and food standard as well.

Few things a favourite. There are definitely some good things and bad things from the menu.<br/>So far my favourite is the Chilli Pan Mee! Not as authentic but the flavours definitely worked for me! Yum!<br/>The Briyani was OK- sauce didn't taste very fresh prepared but still there.<br/> The plain roti pratha with chicken curry was sweet! Did not belong there, it was more like a dessert. However the pratha with onion and egg was much better. <br/>The hor fun with steam chicken- steam chicken was tender and flavours were lovely, however the broth of the hor fun was rather bland. <br/><br/>Drinks wise- the hot tea and coffee range was bland, very different from what I tasted in KL. Cold beverage selection were slightly better, the Special Sesame concoction is a must try !

Chicken skin never tasted so good. But if you are going to give me a buzzer to get your attention don't make me buzz you three times before anyone even notices me

Quick Service. My third visit to PappaRich last weekend. I ordered nasi lemak that comes with sliced cucumber, fried anchovies, fried peanuts, sambal, hard boiled egg, fried chicken and rice. I am pleasantly impressed with the quick service, just in time to satisfy that monster living in my stomach. It was a good feed.

RIPPED OFF RESTAURANT!!!!. Had to pay an extra $1.50 for a small serve chilli sauce is RIPPED OFF!...We went there last weekend for dinner. First had to line up for a table and we had to paid extra $3.00 for 2 small serve chilli sauce. IT'S TOTALLY RIPPED OFF!...I suggest people bring their own chilli sauce to the restaurant!!!! :(:(:(:(

Roti with Satay sauce was delicious. We totally over ordered for 2 people and it cost about $60.00 - Roti on a tray with 3 sauces and beef, Satay Chicken Skewers with extra satay sauce ($2.00), Chop Chicken with Rice and a Chicken Curry with Noodles. The roti dipped in satay sauce was the highlight for me. If I ever go back I'd probably just order that! The second best thing was the Chop Chicken. It had a nice crunchy crumb and was slathered in gravy but unfortunately the mixed veges were luke warm. The Curry Chicken was OK but I didn't really like the uncrisp chicken skin and thighs (I think they were thighs) they had used. The noodles tasted ok too. The beef which came with the roti was nice and tender but the other condiments (apart from the satay) were not really touched and a bit of a waste. I think the chicken satay skewers were overpriced for what you actually got. The service was very very prompt the first plate arrived in minutes. I probably wouldn't come back here in a hurry I just wanted to see what the fuss was about because there almost always seems to be a big queue whenever I walk past.

Not worth the effort. Went there last saturday with my family. I ordered roti chanai with beef, my brother ordered briyani rice, and the rest ordered other foods from the menu. <br/><br/>The roti chanai was so ridiculously small that I had to have some of my son's food afterwards. I have attached the photo below, with comparison between a $2 coin vs the roti. It is definitely a small, sad, and sorry example of a roti; and not worth the $13.95 price of the meal. We did ask the waitress whether there were any mistake with the order. My wife’s original impression from her past experience in the restaurant was, the roti meal should come with 2-3 rotis and in bigger proportion that this mini roti. The waitress could only shrug apologetically. <br/><br/>My brother’s confirmed the briyani rice meal is bland and not impressed at all. <br/><br/>The only item of notice is the fried chicken skin. The other foods were nothing special. <br/><br/>So in short, my one and only experience with papparich had been a dissapointing event, and we definitely won’t be back in the future. If you want to eat Malay or Indian food, there are better restaurants south of the river with better value for your money.

Why wait to be seated. Don't understand why people wait to be seated here. The food isn't that great, so many other Malaysian restaurants that are better and the best part they don't make you wait outside like a night club.

Just eat and get out!!!!!. I have eaten here on three occasions and I think good service has been sacrificed at the alter of efficiency. The first two were weekday lunch so it had to be quick but the third was dinner and I truly felt like we were in a sweatshop. They got the order wrong and when we brought it to their attention, no effort was made to rectify it. The kway teow was terribly bland but the order process does not really facilitate any interaction with staff, it's all so mechanical. An attempt was made to clear my plate before I finished and I was so turned off I did not bother with dessert. Another annoyance is they issue an invoice at the start and each time you add to your order they keep printing a new invoice. It would be great if they personalised their service a bit, perhaps ask about spice tolerance etc. or they'll end up being an extension of the old shanghai.

There has been a range of reviews but from my experience I can conclude it to be not bad. I might have expected a bit more in terms of range of stuff in the menu but there were still quite a lot, the waitresses were very friendly and food didn't take too long to be served. Had Nasi Briyani and teh tarik - sadly chicken skin was sold out. That was pretty nice. Not my favourite hehe, but I wouldn't mind coming back. Yes, it is overrated in one sense as you see the crazy queues for this (which I didn't experience, I came at like 10pm) but it is pretty authentic food they come for, I can't judge completely since I've only tried one dish, yet because of this I guess it makes it pretty worthwhile.
Eile
Efficient. The wait was not too long to get in on a Sunday. I had the Ipoh Koay Teow Soup with Steamed Chicken. The food was good but nothing spectacular; the broth was really flavoursome though. Service was efficient and I liked how there is a bell that you can press to get the waitstaff's attention. Ordering is easy with each menu item appointed with a code that you write down on the order form. This order form is then given to the waitstaff. There is plenty of choices for the drinks. I ended up choosing the iced Red Bean one but I would like to try Matcha Rocks next time.

Love it. If you're expecting authentic Malaysian food, this isn't it. But I feel like it's the best for the price in Perth. Great service, great ambience, food is good. Highly recommend the fried chicken.
Foodie85
I don't know why people line up for this place. Food is average the roti is too sweet and laksa is bland. You can find better Malaysian cuisines in Perth much better than papparich without the massive cue

Rubbish rubbish rubbish. The title says it all. worst malaysian food, too much MSG and rude service !
Fantasticfoodie
Pretty nice. We went there on Sunday at about 9pm. There was a queue however we only waited around 10 minutes. The waitstaff were nice and so was the food. It came out quickly and was reasonably tasty. On the downside, the floors and bathrooms were very grubby. Under our table there were used serviettes and food that had been stepped on. Although it is a chain, I think its patrons deserve a cleaner environment to eat in. I would not have minded waiting a further 2 minutes in the queue for the ground around our table to be cleaned up.
Appleair1
Authentic Malaysian. Just the way it would be in Malaysia. Must try the curry chicken noodles and cham
Joe
Ok, nothing out of ordinary. Food was ok and we will probably back one day.. Went there early to get seats.. but not sure why people bother lining up?<br/><br/>Oh and the price is more on the higher side too for hawker type food.

Classic Malay street food <br/>Good franchise from KL<br/>Good vibe ,cause always busy <br/>Service is ok

Extremely disorganised in management of waiting at the door

Dissapointed and overpriced. Very dissapointed and overpriced. Could have gone to other restaurants with cheaper price but better quality. They just spam the food like mass production. If you try to tell the supervisor regarding the food, he always got some lame excuses instead of getting the food changed or acknowledge it. Yea, go for it if you want to eat a superdry, overcook satay. Drinks are OK. Do yourself a favour, go somewhere else to enjoy better food.

Cashier person doesn't like feedback from customers. Well Since my mum was here to visit I decided to bring her to Papparich. My wife also likes the Roti so we went again.<br/>It’s probably been my 4th time while trying different things as the menu is pretty big. My first issue was I ordered the Chicken chop with and sunny side egg and rice. When the dish came out the egg was pretty much fried to death. You know that dry up egg. When it’s supposed to be runny egg. So I requested another one, 10mins later I got it. Other than that everything was ok.<br/>So Tonight I decided to try another dish the nasi lemak fried rice with chicken. The picture also has a Sunny side up egg. Thought I would give it another go as the first experience was not good, maybe they have picked up there game from last time.<br/><br/>Once the it arrived it was the same Dried up egg, not sunny side as described. It really can’t be that hard right? If I went to a breakfast place and you ordered sunny side up egg, you expect sunny side up egg.<br/><br/>I’m not really a fussy person so I just ate the egg. No big deal and I’ll tell the cashier when I pay just to let them know. I’ll provide some feedback as it’s important I think. I have worked in Hospitality in my previous jobs. And we always welcome feedback. <br/><br/>So I tell the Male cashier that my egg was overcooked and not sunny side up as in the picture. He proceeds to tell me that the boiled eggs are well done. Ok I got the menu and pointed it out to him exactly what I ordered not boiled egg. He did really have much to say. My wife was also having a word with him. The Simple answer would be “Sorry I’ll let the kitchen know” Instead this guy tells me that if I was to get another well done egg I should press the button and re-order it. And because he is in front, he can’t keep an eye on his cooks and what they do. Sometimes they get it right sometimes they don’t it’s not 100%. Seriously what sort of answer is that to a paying customer? <br/>How about you get it right the FIRST time and I won’t have to press the button to re-order it again. I really hope you read this. Service Staff are excellent only ruined by this one person.<br/>I came tonight 21/10/14 and the bill was $91.40 when I paid at 20:27.
Kimmmi
The Malaysian version of Jamies Italian - nothing special just simple Malaysian food - i would go there again for a simple quick cheap meal if I was passing by however would not wait in the long lines nor rush back -<br/>At least the food wasnt the typical processed cheap Asian food usually found in this area

Could have been better. A belated Father's Day celebration seemed to be a perfect occasion to visit Papparich. We were there at 11.30am so there was no queue. Felt sorry for those that came much later. The great ambience and service set a very positive tone. Menu is very comprehensive and selecting what to eat was harder than I thought... Nonetheless we settled on Hor Fun, Hainan Chicken rice and Nasi Briyani with red chiken and egg plant. Then the food came out. For those that said the servings were huge need to realise that it was more an optical illusion... the servings were ok but the plates were huge. If anything I do like large dinner/serving plates as makes for better presentation. Now the disappointing thing is that this is where 'good' ends. I felt that the Hor Fun was at best ok, the chicken was dry and nasi briyani combination was wrong. I think the red chicken just doesn't work with the rice... I should have gone for the beef rendang. The drinks were ok but the goreng pisang was simply shocking. The banana used was not ripe so the banana was not tender and had the bitter taste. In one word shocking. I really wanted to enjoy the experience but left underwhelmed. Not sure if there's going to be a next time...
Airwolf
Despite all the hype, it was overrated. Food was ok, I can now say been there done that. Premium price for chicken rice that wasn't nice, tiny cup of Teh Tarik, chicken curry and noodles was expensive. Won't return anytime soon.
Never Return
Now I'm waiting outside this restaurant for a table for 5. I've been waiting for 30mins and 2 of friends rushing on their way to come. The waitstaff told us that we can't go in because our group is not completed. So we saw the people queuing behind us keep walking in the restaurant and get a seat and 3 of us just keep standing and standing. This is not a good practice for customer who spend their time to wait but for nothing. I hope the management can take it in mind.

Love the food!

We arrived in the restaurant on a Saturday at 11:45, lined up about 5 minutes. Food comes out very quick. Portion was quite big. Taste wise is 8/10. I ordered the Nasi lemak special $16 which comes with everything. The place Is quite nice inside. Service was good, as we have this bell that we can press to order food. The wait staff also quite pollite, they actually asked if the plates can be taken away (unlike the usual chinese restaurant where they kick u out once u finish eating). I will come back, next time I recommend start lining up at 11 am.
LoveOfFood
Very average chain restaurant.. I have mostly been a bit wary of chain restaurants. I hate to say but Papparich Northbridge is not one that I would recommend. They lure you in with the offer of great comfort food based on their reputation but mostly cannot deliver. The food in a lot of non-chain restaurants around Perth is much better. We tried the chicken wings, the keuy teow with egg sauce and vegetarian cod. The keuy teow was ok but was all sauce, not very many noodles, few vege and very little of chicken and prawns (lots of fish sausage !!). The chicken wings were overcooked and, too be honest, didn't have much flavor. The vegetarian cod dish was really weird in texture and was REALLY salty. Perth is changing and it's great to see some entrepreneurs exploiting this. What we don't need is average food that pretends to be something different.

I don't get it. I fell for the hype going around the Perth foodie scene and lined up for a table. Food was OK but not better than what you could get in many a foodhall. the ordering system is a gimmick and makes the service seem a bit rude (you may aswell have robots delivering the food). I don't understand why all the queue's when you could get much better value in dozens of places in Northbridge.
Hanteg
Thumbs down. I knew this place was going to be bad when I saw the tacky extensive jelly drinks menu from outside but I let my friend drag me in. Had rendang curry with Roti. Everything tastes like it has lots of sugar in it. The Roti tasted sweet and nothing like it was described, the friend who was so passionate about the place even said 'wow that looks terrible'. I ordered item 'Black Coffee' on the menu and it tasted like it had sweet syrup put in it. Very weird. Yes it might look popular and look authentic from the outside due to the clientele but it reminded me of a Malaysian version of Sizzler in every aspect. Only upside was service was good and prompt and it was cheap but Malaysian/Indonesian restaurants in Perth always are.

Worst Malaysian ive ever had in perth... Food was tasteless. Nothing tasted like it had almost any spice at all.. Usually at a Malaysian restaurant you are normally burping up the food for the rest of the day! It all tasted plain and I could of made something better at home. If you want something real authentic go to Papa Wok in West Perth during the week for lunch.. that's what it should taste like.

Very efficient and decent prices. So this is actually commercialised Malaysian food, but it tastes really good and the prices are quite reasonable too (12-20$ for a meal). We were in a fairly long line but really only waited around 10 minutes to get in.<br/><br/>The sizes are huge and the drinks selection is AWESOME. To be honest I preferred their drinks over any of the other bubble tea places around - plus it's a lot cheaper too. <br/><br/>Definitely recommended for a quick and tasty dinner. :)

Yummy. Had dinner here a couple of nights ago with some Malaysian friends. We were absolutely blown away with the flavours! I had the Nasi lemak: the coconut rice was fragrant and the chilli condiment was not too spicy. The roasted peanuts went well with the dish. I must say my first experience with Malaysian cuisine was a great one!! Will be back to work my way through the menu!!

"Won't Be Back!". Queuing alone while waiting for a friend to join for lunch, after my turn was up to be seated, the girl who works in front asked how many people ? Then I said 2, I'm waiting for a friend.. she said: oh you still waiting for someone ? I said to her: yes, but can I still come in if the table is available ? (this is my turn after all?) and then with hesitate she said: when is your friend coming? 5 minutes? Before I answered that stupid question, I'm like, what's that supposed to mean ?? Did she mean that you can't dine-in by yourself ? do you have to dine-in with minimum 2 people there?? Then she said to me, ok you can come in but you have to order first ok? Oh Really ?!! did she just say that to a customer?? If it wasn't for my friend, I was already out of there in a second, never experience something like that, ever !!! One is enough, WON'T BE BACK !!! New, Rude, Food not that good ! Pricey and Unprofessional !

Food came out really quick but don't think they have been microwaved long enough as some part of the biryani and ban mee were still cold. Don't think we would go back.

Arrogant guy at the till (owner). Food, service and prices great unfortunately very impolite and arrogant guy at the till, cant beleive your services if you are the owner you have to be polite with your customers!!! never back there because of him!!!

Pretty tasty food. The satay sauce is damn good as well as the roti kaya (roti with a coconut jam in the middle), beef rendang had good flavour but unfortunately the roti that came with it was a bit dry and crunchy but still edible I just prefer a softer roti. Laksa seafood was also yum. Very reasonably priced good food.

First timer. Arrived to find a short line & were told there would be a 20 minute wait which was pretty accurate. We had a pram so really appreciated the fact they accomodated us near the window with space to put the pram out of everyones way. Quite a big selection on the menu & something for everyone but our fav was the chicken skins.. who doesnt like deep fried delicious morsels of chicken skin! Overall we enjoyed our first time here, the staff were very friendly & efficient, food and drinks came out fast so its safe to say we'll definitely be back!
Yongy
A hit and miss kind of place. Have been to papparich about 4 times already in the past couple of weeks. The quality of the food there is a hit and miss affair. Out of 4 visits, 2 have been okay and 2 bad (meaning food came out too salty). Being from Singapore, I really don't understand all the raves about this place.Portions are small for the price you pay. Granted it is in Northbridge, so prices would be higher than those in the suburbs. I won't be back for a while is all I can say.

FRIED CHICKEN SKIN. Best fried chicken skin. Rendang and Nasi Lemak (a bit pricey) were nice but the fried chicken skin was the dish that stood out the most.

Pretty good and can't argue with the value for money. Perth needs more good quality middle of the road eats like this. The long queues tell you something

Lee. The worst Malaysian food we have ever eaten. The beef was so tough, no one could eat it. Rice Biriayni awful. How do you ruin rice!

New, fresh and Delightful. The queue is always long, eventually got the chance to seat and try their food. It was good but not the best. I will not come back here and queue again. It is not worth queueing, they have great varieties of malaysian food though.

Wear ear plugs! Hits and misses!. He: Stick to the tried formulae! Too many hits and misses. But hey, for cheap eats at $13.90 a plate, there is nothing much to complain and desire for. <br/><br/>She: Visited Papparich a few times with different groups of friends. Avoid the Papparich's versions of chicken rice and mer goreng. Very average. Love the Nasi Lemak. Like the Char Kway Teow and Hor Fun. Dirty and not authentic. Don't bother the food is awful! Roti canai is sweet and doughy mamak is better anyday. I have to agree on a previous post hygiene standards were pretty low tables not wiped, dirty glasses and staff eating while serving. Won't be going back anytime soon really disappointed
Ms Sim
Never again. Food was not authentic at all, my partner commented that our usual frozen roti tasted better than this, chilli pan mee huge disappointment, ordered 6 dishes with satay being the only ok dish, nasi biryani was the worse, eggplant and chicken tasted off. Asked for serviettes for 6 pax, waiter gave only 1 and when asked for more, he still insisted on giving 1, when we said we need more for 6 pax, he gave us a stack with an unwilling face, we just wanted 6 serviettes minus the attitude! will not be back, there are plenty of other better malaysian restaurant in perth with better service, price and food.
Mahen Swominathan
Average at best.. I knew that it was extremely hyped up, but my family and myself wanted to try it for ourselves. We didn't mind waiting in line, as we knew that it was a very popular restaurant. Once we were seated, all I could see was flaws; the tables were not wiped down, and were still very dirty with curry and rice stains left over from the previous customers. The table was only wiped once I requested it to be cleaned even then I got dirty looks from the waitress. We asked for table water, only to see that the cups were dirty and sandy. It is disgusting to have been served dirty cups, again I had to be asked for the cups to be washed as they were dirty. The bandung was more of a slushy, taste was okay but the texture was not correct. The Nasi Lemak with curry chicken was average. The curry and rice were nice but seriously c'mon the egg was tiny and so was the portions of the ikan billis and the peanuts. I have had better Nasi Lemak at my local markets then this so called authentic Malaysian cooking. I understand that this is a busy restaurant, but cleanliness is an important factor in any sort of business especially when it is a restaurant. 2.5/5
Susanlee
Not worth it. Ordered the kueh teow soup and was disappointed as it didn't look like the picture on the menu at all! Prawns were very small and didn't even look like prawns. And worst of all was it was 13.90! Very overpriced IMO.

Completely Rip Off. Price here roughly 15-20% more expensive than Melbourne and the portion is smaller. Not authentic too!! Stay away from it!!
Joe4561
BIG RIPOFF!!!! Don't come here! Portions are way too small compared to the same branch in Melbourne. Ordinary food but over the top prices???
ChibiMatty
It's ok.. I am very impressed with the service and the ordering system is also good, especially when it comes to splitting payment.<br/><br/>I did like the variety of sweet entrées and the South East Asian style drinks menu; just trying these alone, make it worth at least a one-off visit. <br/><br/>The food is okay, if PappaRich does well here, it will be on the strength of it being a well-known franchise name; but Perth already has plenty of Malay/Singapore eateries around the suburbs, who make better dishes than here.
Evonne
Really good roti canai and drink selection in Perth. Have been twice. Enjoyed the drinks - red bean, teh c, sesame ice cream with soy milk. Roti canai and roti bom really delicious! Makes me miss Malaysia heaps.<br/><br/>Other dishes are okay, not really different compared to other Malaysian restaurants in Perth.

PappaRich? PappaRipOff!. I've been to PappaRich twice now. First time I went was extremely disappointed with the lack of flavour and size portion with comparison to the price. 2nd time I came was today to give it a second chance to redeem itself. Disappointed once again by the size portion of curry noodles that could serve my 100year old grandma. I was extremely shocked by the price of the coke which was $3.90 and trying to make a quick scam, smaller than the size of a can of coke!! $20.00 food and drink felt like a bowl of cereal. Disappointing .
Vat1107
Authentic Malaysian? No way. My chilli pan mee was horrible, how is udon noodles authentic Malaysian. To make it worse it was soggy and very bland. Didn't finish it and it costed 15 dollars. The only upside is that the drinks are good there.

Tried tonight for the first time and was actually quite impressed. Busy but a nice atmosphere. Quick and efficient service too. I enjoyed every meal our table ordered but.... Sorry the congee was just terrible. Plain, plain, plain! Not one bit of flavour! A pinch of salt wouldn't hurt!?! Please do something there Papparich as I did enjoy it and will be back :)

Lost in the queue. Oh my God. U gotta set up a booking system. Making people stand HOURS in the cold and rain 5.30 last sunday night is just not acceptable! We left the queue. How many others gave up like us?

Very disappointed. Having tried PappaRich in Melbourne I was really excited they were going to open up a franchise in Northbridge, turns out I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. We ordered laksa, biryani, roti canai, satay and char kway teow. The biryani came out dry with 2 pieces of chicken and no gravy and the sambal prawns were not fresh. The laksa came out luke warm. We had 6 pieces of satay with minimal gravy and no rice cakes. The portion of the char kway teow can feed a child and I was only served 1 piece of roti canai with very salty chicken curry. Bear in mind these dishes were ranges between $13-$15. 1 roti canai costs $12.90...daylight robbery to me!!AND the roti canai came out after my family finished their dishes. The only positive is their very quick service. I am sad because I had such a good experience in Melbourne. Papparich get your act together, stop being stingy and serve quantities that justify your ridiculous prices!

Nice. Tastes exactly like what you would get if you are in Malaysia, except for the fact that you would pay RM13.90 there, and A$13.90 here, haha. But nonetheless Yummy curry chicken dry noodles, spot on.

Spot on!. I didn't have high expectations going to Papparich the other day with my two friends. I had heard good things but decided not to get too hyped incase I was disappointed with the food. Being of Malaysian/Chinese descent, I was just expecting the usual average asian meal.<br/>WOW. Can I just say, best meal I've had in a while! Had the Roti Telur with Chicken Curry. Quite well priced as well. A bit more curry sauce would have been good to dip my roti in. <br/>Amazing. Brought me back to the wonderful world of Asia! <br/><br/>Definitely bringing my parents here. They will love it!<br/>Recommend to any Malaysians that haven't been back in a while that need a little taste of home.

Not bad... but not amazing either.. There are definitely some good points about this restaurant. They've got a great variety of Malaysian food, the environment is nice and 'family-oriented' and placing your order is fast and efficient. Even though there was a line outside the restaurant, it moved really quickly (about 10mins waiting for us at 12.30pm on a Friday).<br/><br/>However, we won't be returning soon because of the downsides. Firstly, it's a bit steep to be charging $14 for a bowl of laksa. It was nice, but not amazing and at $13.90-14.90 we did expect better. It seems that a lot of people on Urbanspoon are divided about the roti canai, and I'm going to have to side with the people who say it's not worth it. In fact, it was pretty bad and not like any roti I've had before. It was hard and sweet! What's with that? I'm hoping it was just an off day for the chef! Also it cost me $13.90 for the roti canai, with dismal servings of dhal and curry on the side. Bleh. Definitely do not order it if you've ever had semi-decent roti in your life before. The frozen ones from the Asian supermarket are better.<br/><br/>I wasn't particularly impressed by the waiter standing in front of the people waiting in the line. While flicking through the menu, I made a private comment to my partner about the price of the chicken rice ($13.90 - steeeep) and suddenly the waiter intruded in on our conversation apparently feeling the need to debate the cost of chicken rice. Specifically, he said that Papparich 'isn't a hawker's restaurant - it's family restaurant' then he challenged me to name a restaurant like Papparich that would serve chicken rice for less. So I told him the name of one that serves it for $7, and he continued to argue with me before he was called away by another waiter. His behaviour was pretty unimpressive and rude. I'm not sure why he felt so impassioned about chicken rice that he had to interrupt a personal conversation to argue with a customer. Fortunately, the waiter who seated us was much friendlier and respectful!

Please open in Joondalup. Whenever I am in Malaysia, I do have many lunches at Pappa Rich.. my favourite is the dry curry mee. But I do not need to queue up as they have many branches around.. So I do hope that Pappa Rich will open up more branches around.. especially in Joondalup as I live in Joondalup..

Vegetarian Food - Unpleasant. While we loved dining at Pappa Rich in Malaysia, our dining experience in Perth was unpleasant. We ordered 2 vegetarian nasi lemak and one briyani vegetarian rice. The sambal was mere plain chili. It was not the vegetarian ikan bilis sambal like the ones we get in Pappa Rich in Malaysia. Upon asking the wait staff we were told they don't serve it here. We were also not informed of this when we placed our order. Already disappointed with the sambal, when we started eating the mock mutton, it was as hard as rock. The curry tasted coconut. Absolutely no curry flavour. Overall our dining experience was unpleasant. It was nothing similar to the taste we get in Malaysia. We do not look forward to dine in Pappa Rich Perth nor bring our family which we planned for next week.

Pappa is bringing in the numbers.. Everytime I have walked past this restaurant on James street since returning from Europe, there has been a massive queue outside in the cold to get a table inside. The lack of a booking system seems to be the culprit for this.<br/><br/>We decided to "beat the queue" when we caught up with some friends tonight and went extra early for dinner (around 5:30pm). When we got there our friends were in the queue only 1 group back from the door but the line was already out to around 15 tables of people long.<br/><br/>I am not really an advocate of standing in lines for extended periods of time so I was pleasantly surprised when we were asked in and sat down at a table within a few minutes of entering the line. (For reference our friends had been waiting around 10 minutes before we arrived)<br/><br/>The place was totally the polar opposite of what I expected but in a good way I must say. The open kitchen bug seems to have really bitten now in Perth and it seems PappaRich has gone down this now familiar route also.<br/><br/>The ordering system is quite efficient and the menu's are bright and clear. We had an iced lemon tea with honey and several Teh Tariks. For our meals we selected satay beef skewers, roti telur with curry chicken, ipoh kway teow with steamed chicken and chilli pan mee.<br/><br/>The drinks were decent and came out straight away. The meal however was a slightly different matter. The second part of my main actually arrived after everyone had finished their meals. We were told that in this restaurant they just bring the food out when it is ready rather then at the same time per table which can lead to very awkward situations (think a date).<br/><br/>The chilli pan mee was apparently respectable, whilst the ipoh was considered "a bit average". In truth my satay beef skewers fell short of the mark in my opinion and the roti whilst respectable wasn't worth mentioning.<br/><br/>All in all I think the place is decent and the food is okay, I wouldn't say it is expensive on the whole, but for the type of food it is pricey and therefore along with the queue it will be a while before I return (unless I want to eat dinner at 5:30 again!)

Ok but nothing special. We had dinner at papparich last night and while the food was generally tasty it was not hot, at most you could call it warm, and that was consistent for entrees, mains and the tea we had afterwards. My sweet and sour chicken was also very disappointing in size, 5 small bite sized pieces and a drizel of sauce, with the accompanying plain white rice taking up 70% of the plate. The roti was nice but overall the quality was just not good enough for the price.

GOOD FOOD, GOOD SERVICE & HIGHLY RECOMMEND.. Went to Papa Rich for the second time this week. First was with a friend a few days earlier and today went there with husband. We were greeted and seated quickly by friendly staff as we were there just before 11.00am where the crowd were starting to build up.<br/><br/>Husband ordered the Briyani with chicken curry & eggplant while I had the nasi lemak with chicken curry and prawn sambal. The serving size was reasonably huge and we left fully loaded and satisfied.<br/><br/>We highly recommend Pappa Rich to anyone who cares to give it a try and know that you will not be disappointed.<br/><br/>And for Pappa Rich, continue to maintain your good quality of food, the good service and know that we'll be back for more.

Best Malaysian food I've had in Perth. Roti canai was great and the tropical lime drink is the bomb diggity. Nice atmosphere too, I can see why this place is popular in Melbourne.

Not bad, slightly on a pricier side. We queued for this place (it wasn't long as we arrived at 5.15pm) and I don't regret that decision.<br/><br/>Service was so busy but food came within seconds. One or two of our orders were wrong but made right almost immediately. Nasi lemak - i heard was quite average. I had prawn noodle ($13.90) and it was not bad. I had lychee cincau drink which was really sweet but a fairly large serve (it had better be since it set me back by 5.90$). <br/><br/>I heard the curry laksa was not bad either. Roti canai with egg was good and Hainanese chicken rice was not bad. You can't compare with the authentic versions but this is as good as it gets for your local malaysian/singaporean hawker favourites. I find it slightly pricy for average $20 per head but Papparich is a brand and i think you would pay a little premium for dining at this famous franchise. <br/><br/>I am certainly NOT queuing up again but will return when the hype dies down for a normal meal.

Authentic Malaysian food!. After couple weeks, we finally battle thru the long queue and it was so worth it! First visit, we tried the Nasi Lemak, Roti Canai and Briyani. OMG they were authentic! So close to the real deal you get in Malaysia! Second visit, we came early and they wasn't any queue YAaaay! We had the same order plus roti satay and teh tarek...best teh tarek in Perth! Service was fast and great though I must say you gotta come early before the madness long queue starts. Also the most I luv is how their menu comes with pics!
Belinda Cham
. The tropical lime drink was like heaven on earth. The banana fritter tasted like potato but that's okay.
Jack L
Seriously good Malaysian! The satay is authentic and I've been chasing down a good Malaysian satay joint in Perth for a while! So glad it's here with such a range of good food! Make sure you try the curry laksa too! Oh and the drinks are amazing too! Do not let the coconut paradise pass you! Delicious is an understatement!

Bee's Knees Satay. Tried this with a Malaysian friend and thankfully we got there early as per her advice, as the line not longer after we got in (5.30pm on a Thurs) was huge! It led to my fellow diner commenting that Papparich was the new Asian Jamie's of Perth!<br/>We ordered quite a bit eager to try as much as possible and the prices made us believe the servings would be on the smaller side. We were wrong! Even with 2 hungry men we struggled to finish them all. <br/>The stand outs were the satay sticks (which were the closest to the homemade BBQ variety I had at a Malay friend's house many years ago), the roti (light, crispy but doughy and just yum) and the rendang with basmati and eggplant. I want to know how they cook the eggplants like that! Also the large choice of Malay drinks was impressive. I'll be going back, if I can get in!
Erick J
Food was tasteless, price is expensive. The food was not worth $15.

Strongly Recommended. Tasty food, great service, friendly staff and affordable prices!! You will be a fool for not trying out this place! Strongly recommended.

Exactly what Perth needs!!. Is about time Perth needs a good proper Malaysian Food restaurant... The menu covers much of the Malaysia all time favourite food (From Satay, Roti of all kinds, soft boiled egg with Toasts to Fried Chicken skin... Also it cater for Vegetarian with its dim sum menu, a wide selection on drinks, desserts and mains of course.<br/>A very nice and comfortable fit out for Paparich in Perth compare to Eastern States... Tried few of the dishes from the menu and YES, it has standard with large portions (Aussie size)! The only thing is the curry and chili needs a bit more kick but I guess this is also cater for others who are unable to take extreme spicy food.<br/>Favourite dish so far, Papa Fried Kuey Teow, Chili Pan Mee (Dry), Prawn Noodles, Nasi Lemak, Hainan Curry Chicken Chop with rice (The battered fried Chicken need to improve slightly would be perfect) and Ipoh Hor Fun. The shop is always busy and I think the kitchen will need a bit of time to keep improving... Well done Paparich! Thanks for bringing Malaysians' comfort food to Perth...!!!

Delicious yummy!!. A must go restaurant! It's definitely worth the waiting!

Best roti canai. We love all the food and drinks! From nasi lemak, curry laksa but my favourite was the roti canai :) a must-try dish at Papparich !

Lovely food for a bargain. 4 of us went there on Sat night, had to wait for about an hour but was worth it. we all had noting bad to say about the food we ordered, I had my first Chicken Curry Laksa and it was just perfect, looked very fresh and the flavors were well balanced.<br/><br/>it was bit noisy with all the kids ,, but other than that, it was a nice experience, will be definitely going back again and will be recommending it to others.
Thads
Apparently worst roti canai in the world! Had the curry chicken roti canai. Roti is way too chewy like a chewing gum, curry was tasteless, Sambal sauce was obviously not made in-home, most likely from a bottle off that oriental shop down the road.<br/>Absolute bizzare! <br/>Terrible!
Noel
Good malaysian food. A nice setting, friendly staff, fast service.Ordered the roti and roti telur. Tasty curries and well presented. Nice teh tarik. A couple of teething problems but all good!
Sair
Came here tonight with my siblings and although there was a huge queue it was well worth the wait. There were 6 of us and we ordered entree, mains and drinks and they all came not long after our orders were placed. Service was efficient. Our favs tonight was the crispy chicken skin, kaya butter with toast, roti and satay sticks. Would definitely come again!!

Been twice in 2 days. Ca.... Been twice in 2 days. <br/><br/>Came for lunch with my family twice now. Laksa, Roti canai, Satays, kuey teow, kway teow dry with steam chicken, prawn mee and pappa wat tan hor. ALL AMAZING. Most authentic Malaysian food in Perth. Wait can be long but worth it. Service is fast and delicious. 10/10

Tried twice and disappointed. The roti canai is way too sweet. The food and drinks are always cold when they come to you. Mamak in Sydney is way better.

Worth the wait!. Yummy delicious food and pretty cheap too! Favorites are the banana fritters w/ice cream + roti dishes and the drinks are amazing!

Delicious. Went for lunch on Tuesday and just wow! Had the deep fried chicken skin and the chicken chop which were both amazing!! Friendly staff and looked after by Brendan can't wait to try more dishes!

Chicky babe. I enjoyed the food and the service was great.. I would go there again and would recommend it :)
Supa.mega.swan
Finally a place with good roti canal!. I've been here twice since it's opened and have had great food both times. Would definitely recommend the roti canal, chicken satay and teh tarik. These dishes are as close to authentic as you can get in Perth. The roti bom is also nice. I'll be returning to try all the other dishes. The curry laksa that my friend had looks delicious as well. Get there before or after peak times to try avoid the queues.

Coffee good, Saigo excellent, banana roti. For a new restaurant (one week) with a few teething issues this place will be awesome. Definitely coming back.
Papparichisajoke
Shocking!. Absolutely dissapointed! Waited for approx half and hour, and our order got changed like 5 times because they said they ran out of this, and that..blah blah..I can understand as the restaurant was nearly closing for the day. <br/>But what shocked me was even I changed to egg ho fun, it came out to be fried kauy teow. Apparently, they have mixed up my order with someone, and I could hear the other customer was shouting at the staff as they have waited for over an hour for their food and still got mixed up! The chef at the back got angry too, he was shouting and swearing as he had to keep up with the staff mistake!<br/>And let's not forget my mate's chicken laksa that finally came after an hour and half later, It got no chicken ( oh ya, they ran out of chicken), only noodles and bean sprouts and two slices of fishcakes.....As you can imagine, Not a very happy customer. <br/>Do yourself a favour, go somewhere else. Is not even worth the wait and the food is not that great too!!!
Justin Lim
Delicious!! I love it.
Bryan Fencott
The service was good I ha.... The service was good<br/><br/>I had the Nasi Lemak it's rendang attachment was average at best the rice was soggy and had no semblance of coconut?<br/>The satay... What was that?<br/><br/>All in all maybe I give it a 6 out of 10

A taste of home.. Loved the food and the reasonable price ..Gonna come back for breakfast!
Clarissa Phillips
Cheap and tasty. I love ALMOST everything about this place.<br/><br/>The food is incredible. Huge, tasty, servings that are very reasonably priced. Most items around $12-$15.<br/><br/>I only wish it was much bigger. Having to line up to get seated in a squishy restaurant, where there's barely any room for waitstaff to walk between two tables, makes it a little annoying.<br/><br/>Good service though.
Huyquach21
Excellent Malaysian cuisine.. Worth the wait...services was excellent and prompt...Food come out quickly and taste amazing...Highly recommended if you want to try Malaysia cuisine. Price is relatively cheaper than normal café prices...<br/>Average prices is $12 -$15....coming back for more...
Leo
Love the dishes and variety. We ordered a total of 12 dishes & were all tasty.<br/>Good job on the glassware (tableware) as this is the healthiest choice.<br/>99% of Malaysian restaurants use plasticware and thats cheap & unhealthy.<br/>Papparich you are a class above them<br/>J

PappaRich?. More like PappaAverage.
KS
Not bad just pricing a bit steep. Pros:<br/>Loved all the dishes. Was pretty good for Msian food.<br/>Service was fantastic, attentive even though it's super busy (expected as it was opening day).<br/>Queue wasn't too long (15mins wait).<br/>Endless menu option so come prepared with choice may help.<br/><br/>Cons:<br/>Pricing is much higher than more places... Eg Briyani with meat ($15.90), roti c ($7.90), nasi lemak ($13.90!!!). Not the ideal place to come with kids unless you're rich.<br/><br/>Noodle portion is 'average sizing'. Considering you're paying high end pricing you'd expect larger size. Saying that it was 'sufficient' for me, but may not for a large bloke. The rice dishes was much more generous.<br/><br/>Ask for spicy as they aren't very generous with chilli. Saying that, if you want extra sambal it'll cost you too ($1.50!!) <br/><br/>It's a typical Msian cafe atmosphere so will seem rushed. I wouldn't take my young kids.<br/><br/>Final verdict:<br/>Would I come back again? Hell yeah! Taste was enough to get me back.

Worth the wait!. The food was really good! waited for awhile to get the table but it's worthwhile. service was good, food arrived pretty quick. overall good dining experience!

Never like the one in Malaysia and will never like this one too.
Kittyandbunnyadventures
Being a fan of pan mee/ban mian generally, Kitty had the chilli pan mee, which was served dry with chicken mince, mushroom, chilli sauce, spinach, crisp anchovies, and a soft boiled egg. It was the kind of dish that Kitty or her family would serve at home – simple comfort food – and yet we were torn as to whether it could be improved upon in a restaurant setting. You know, meat cooked just so, a more generous serve, more care taken with the seasoning and accompaniments. It could be the dishes we picked, it could be our unfair comparison of similar dishes from hawker food stores and family homes that have honed their dish to perfection. Anyway, we need a bigger sample size from PappaRich– we would like to try the mantou with kaya (anything with kaya, really) and their roti canai next time.

Nice decor and ambience, very well presented Perth has recently welcomed a new upclass Malaysian restaurant called PappaRich, which has gained popularity in many Asian countries and Eastern States in Australia. It is known for serving authentic Malaysian cuisines with nice decor and professional service.
Bake You Smile
The roti wasn’t crispy like how I like it but that’s because I ordered the one with fried egg stuffed on the inside. I think I will get it without the fried egg next time. It was quite dense. I liked the curry chicken though. Chicken was nice and moist.
Too Munch To Handle
Since the official Perth opening on 15th August 2014, Papparich has been extremely popular amongst Perth’s Malaysian food lovers. Having first tried PappaRich at Chadstone in Melbourne earlier this year, I couldn’t have been more excited about its opening in Perth. Having seen how popular PappaRich was on Facebook , I was worried that we would be greeted by a long line at the door. On arrival, there was a line outside, but this moved quickly and to my surprise we were seated in 5 minutes. Having checked the menu online in advance, I knew immediately what I wanted to order. The efficient method of ordering meant that our f

Looking at all the prices I was extremely surprised that the average main dish was going for around $13, definitely value for money. I had read a number of reviews before I came so I already knew that we would have to try the roti and the satay sticks. Each of us then chose our own main.

Papparich - the generator of much hoo ha. The only restaurant in Perth that has had a consistent line since I can remember and I use the word consistent instead of suggesting it is the only restaurant that has had a line ever because frankly I can't remember a single other. But I am sure I am wrong. For those that do not know Papparich is a Malaysian food chain restaurant. It serves all the typical Malaysian dishes and we were really interested to know if they did them well.
Take Me To Foodie Heaven
PappaRich has finally arrived in Perth and is a newbie on the Perth dining scene. It’s the first outlet in Western Australia too, along with 10 outlets operating in other Australian states. Established in 2005 with its first restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and today, PappaRich has expanded across Malaysia and internationally. (Yep believe me, it’s everywhere in Malaysia!)   PappaRich also boasts an extensive menu with a variety of dishes to choose from. Oh and their menu comes with mouthwatering photos too. From Malaysian classics like Nasi Lemak and Satays to Roti Canai, PappaRich caters for all tastes and palates.
The Chefs Wife
I have quite a sentimental attachment to satay. Years back, before I was the chef’s wife, I discovered the nutty meat-on-a-stick during an Asian holiday. Pappa Chef introduced us to the Satay Club at Clarke Quay – there we feasted on the best satays I’ve ever had – even to this day.
Hungryagainperth
There is something so satisfying about diving in with your bare hands and tearing apart a hot, flaky piece of roti, feeling the warmth between your fingers before you dunk it in the accompanying sambal, dhal and curry sauces. I've finally found the answer to that annoying question, 'What would you take with you to a deserted island?'. Roti it is.
Queen Of Bad Timing
The roti is excellent - light and fluffy on the inside, and moorishly crisp on the outside. It's a must have if you dine here or at one of their other venues.
IMasticate
The menu has loads of options, from the famous roti to briyani, ho fun, chicken rice and breakfast menu (complete with kaya and mantou). It has variety and mass appeal: everything is very good by Perth standards, but none of the dishes are amazing. Overall: cheap, fast and tasty food at a Malaysian franchise that knows what it’s doing
Juji Chews
The roti canai was right on the mark with a light and silky interior and crispy, flaky crust. Served with chicken curry, a small ladleful of dhal and another of sambal to amp up the heat, this was probably my favourite dish of the day.<br/><br/>If you eat it with your fingers (in true Malaysian style) and close your eyes, for a minute, you might just forget you’re in the middle of Northbridge, and the memory of the wait to get inside will have all but disappeared.
Perth Munchkin
I started with some of the chicken curry. It had a beautifully rich flavour, perfectly balanced spice that wasn’t too burny hot, though I think if you wanted to up the spice stakes you’d just have to write that in your order. I welcomed the milder curry flavours. They were nice plump pieces of chook too. Then onto the roti. I actually don’t think I have ever tried proper roti before. I’ve had plenty of naan and even some paratha, but never roti, that I could recall. I took an eager first bite and I really enjoyed it! As you pulled off a piece of roti it had some wonderfully crispy bits, then some was a little softer and when you piled some of the chicken on top and a dollop of sambal it was like a party of flavours and textures. Yum!
Foodie Cravings
My family had already been to PappaRich a couple of times and loved it. I knew it’d meet mine and burger boy’s expectations because my mum who cooks Malaysian food really well rates it.

A whole host of Malaysian dishes to choose from in comfortable surrounds and friendly service. Enjoyed the super tender satay chicken, loved the roti with chicken curry, char kway teow was yum as too the prawn mee & liked the fermented soy bean in syrup.

..the side sports some perfectly grilled egg plants, delicious chicken and sambal prawns. Sister was extremely satisfied with the egg plants and grilled chicken which she happily finished. But..

Fried chicken skin, complete with the odd feather, for $6.90. Its screaming out for beer and without this lubrication, it's hard to have more than a few pieces. . . Papparich is an alcohol free venue offering the standard playbook of Malaysian favourites. The food is very good, though of course very safe - the roti is made in house and is texturally proficient; the chicken rice comes with succulent white cut chicken and the curry is balanced and tender. The service efficient and well oiled, as befits an expanding multinational corporation. http://feeds.feedburner.com/WinoSapien Click here for the original context

Roti bom’s a sweet treat, rolled up like a snail, with a crisp golden-brown crust, dusted with icing sugar and served with condensed milk and white sugar for dipping.
Perth Food Engineers
The PFEs were invited to check out PappaRich and feast Malaysian style following the launch of its first restaurant in Perth, taking over what used to be the Little Saigon Restaurant on James Street in Northbridge. I was already quite excited knowing that PappaRich was opening a restaurant in Perth. The excitement went up a notch to be then invited as a guest for the launch! The last time I had PappaRich in Australia was at the Chadstone branch in Melbourne last year, then wishing that they would open one here in Perth.  And now my wish had come true! I was so eager to try it out that I went on the first weekend they opened (prior to my appointed time as a blogger), but alas the line was too long and we ended up dining at the Northbridge Brewing Company instead. The eagerness did not pay off :p We got in quickly the second time round as we were “booked in” by the PR company. We were seated at the back and had a good view of
