My friend and I decided to head to Lucky Chans after dinner for a quick drink on Friday 5th April.. it was my first time there, and i am so amazed by the awesome customer service we received on Friday 5th April 2019. We sat at the rooftop, and served by a lovely lady and young looking man, who looked after us so well we had to make a review.
These two staff members definitely deserve recognition.
Enjoyed the ambience and decor of their rooftop bar. The food was a bit of a hit and miss though. The baos and popcorn chicken were delicious but the ramen had too much going on. First time I've ever given up on finishing a massive bowl of ramen!

Lucky Chan's is a restaurant with a funky laundry & pop art theme which offers an Asian fusion menu and rooftop dining.
The food at Lucky Chan's is a great match to the vibrant decor.
To start off our meal we chose to share some of the smaller plates over drinks, we ordered:
• Prawn chips
• Lotus crisps
• Popcorn chicken
At only 3.50 a bowl, the prawn chips are a great crowd pleaser as they absolutely pop with flavour.
The highlight of our meal was the Bao, we ordered the Boom Boom Chicken and Mexi - Chan which is a soft cloud of boa bun wrapped around a corn fritter with Asian guac and salsa - so yum.
We also ordered bowls of ramen which were nice and spicy and very filling.
Lucky Chan's was a great introduction to dining in Perth, loved it!

Cute place! Nice food, it was quiet when we went but the atmosphere was still great. Awesome place to go if you want a light meal, and a drink.
The bubble tea cocktails and mocktails are great. The miso chicken dumplings were so tasty. My partner spoke highly of the Boom Boom Chicken Bao, while I enjoyed the Mac n Cheese.
You do need to be prepared to wait in line for a table, though.
Came here Wednesday night for my mates birthday. There was 9of us with no booking. Service was lovely. We were seated immediately to an upstairs booth. Funky venue. Plenty of seating. Food looked amazing. Worth a visit. Great for groups.
Great vibe, absolutely amazing infrastructure, just a really cool place to be. Food is generous, tasty and affordable. Couldn’t ask for a better late night eatery!
Have no idea why this place gets low ratings. The service was great and has been good last 2 times I been there. I love the food. We always get a whole bunch of things to share amongst us. The Baos are amazing!! Spring rolls amazing. Popcorn chicken delicious. Unfortunately did not like the dumplings at all. That was the only dish I have not liked. Food for two was very cheap I thought. The drinks are great too. I wouldn’t listen to all the other reviews, seems like they have ridiculous expectation. It’s casual share food and it’s great. Never tried the soup bowl things but that’s not my type of food.
Had lunch there a week ago with my wife and was my first time. We had the fizzy sake, their special gyoza and 2 different ramen. Service was good. Like the setup/atmosphere. Sake was tasty but felt watered down. Perhaps the recipe diluted it with lemonade? Ramen was ok. Some good bits but lacked depth and I had to add soy to bring it to life.
Besides the fact that waiting in line is a pain and they dont take bookings. My last few times here has always been enjoyable. Very funky style, love the theme and the different seating arrangement on each floor. Staff are helpful and always welcoming. There spicy ramen in my favourite, but still not a challenge lol. Will be back.
This place was great!
We loved the atmosphere, food wasn't over priced, and it was yummy 😊
Small portions, but it was good 😊
There was a line out the front, but the place wasn't full when we got inside, so that was abit annoying as it was a cold night.
Very very cool place for a drink or some treats. I love their decos, very keen to details. In such place I guess you should not care too much about the foods, however the food is ok. Just don't compare with a proper restaurant,
Great atmosphere and decor, if you can try get a table on the rooftop.
Service was a little slow to get the food out but it was really busy.
Staff are friendly.
Food was amazing.
A little pricey but the food and atmosphere was worth it.
We had dinner here and majority of the food was pretty good. Of what we ordered, the popcorn chicken was our least favourite, just average. The beef was a bit too rare, even chewing heaps didn't break it up. Other than that, the food was good.
As to service, it was way too efficient that it was bad. We were asked if we were still going three times within about 20 minutes. Yes, we were still eating. Then whilst I was still chewing and still had chopsticks in my hand, the table was being cleared completely, even my serviette. Got to a point it was just getting annoying so we decided to pay and go. I was still chewing on the last bit of food when the staff member brought over the eftpos machine.
If there was a massive line outside waiting then we would understand, and we wouldn't take up the table after finishing if that was the case. However, it was around 5:30pm so it fairly early and there was no line outside waiting at all. Felt as though we were rushed out for no reason.
I liked the decor and the feel of the place. Modern menu and great service. However the food is where it falls short slightly. It's good but not great. The baos were a bit overpriced and while pleasant were not amazing. The ramen wasn't steaming hot and again lacked a bit of oomph. A fun place to have a catch-up with friends, but if there's a long line (which there often is) I would think twice.
Very funky "laundromat". Best one I've been to LoL... anyway the food was good but it's more like snack sized rather than a filling meal. I enjoyed the lotus chips and sauces in the soft shell crab bao. Was a bit disappointed that I only received half a crab for the price.
Love this place. Quick food and always fresh! Funky little bar where the cocktails are a must. If you visit during peak time you might get rushed in and out by the staff. Great for quick, casual meals - not so much for long catch up dinners with friends.
Love this place, I always get the Umami Monster (veg) which is super filling, has nice fresh ingredients, and is pretty good value all up considering as well that the atmosphere is great and the staff seem really genuinely friendly, if a bit oddball.
Been here probably a year ago but wasn't impressed. Went back recently with some visitors and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thought it'd be empty on a Wednesday night but it was busy, didn't wait long only because we arrived early at around 630pm.
Service was cheerful and attentive, food was better than I remembered. Had dumplings, the 'surprise packages' which were all pleasant surprises and ramen. Will definitely be back soon!
Amazing venue!!
Very knowledgeable staff, we had Johanna serve us and she was great, she knew everything about the menu and answered all our crazy questions.
The food was a bit of a let down, Thai beef salad was very salty and beef was tough, I ended up leaving it.
Popcorn chicken so so...
The food going for this place is the ramen.
Not usually being a big fan of noodle soup (with the exception of "crossing the bridge noodles"), we were a bit hesitant to go to Lucky Chans which is well-known for its ramen! My, were we impressed! Both liking a bit of spice, we opted for the Korean Kick, and what a lovely kick it did have. The chilli, chicken broth was incredibly moreish and the ingredients within, being the beef brisket, kimchi and soy egg, to name a few, were fresh and well cooked. The vibe was funky and the choice of music was spot on. We look forward to regularly warming up with a bowl of this goodness during the cooler months!
Best themed restaurant indeed! Had korean kick noodles and duck spring rolls. Serving size for spring rolls were rather small for its price, but the noodles was good.
Only three types of food on the menu, but they do it all well. Deserts are great too. Great atmosphere, love entering through a washing machine. Sometimes a wait for a table.
Awesome decor, great service despite getting an order incorrect, not very cool inside, but rooftop seating at night is breezy with great views! Food is very tasty & soups are huge servings!
Love coming to this restaurant , great ambience and very friendly staff .
Loved their bao it's amazing , best part its vegetarian friendly .
Really loved this place! I came for the Bao buns and was not disappointed! I tried them all but the Coca Cola Marinated pork and the Confit Duck were the best and the Chicken a close third for me. I will say that $9-$11 for one bun is very excessive though, maybe 2 for $13-$14 would be more suitable?
Also tried the dumplings which were very tasty as well.
Great staff, service was fantastic and the venue was just a great place to be...
will definitely be back but with a large group of friends next time!
Friendly service, great food and awesome atmosphere! Went with friends for dinner on a Sunday night and we sat up on the roof top. The decor is very on trend and omg the food was delicious. I opted for the Korean kick Raman soup, duck spring roles and I can't stop think my about the pandana coco cotta 😛
Oh and it's a must have for the prawn crackers!!
I love coming to unusual restaurant and Lucky Chan cam definitely be described as one; I mean, seriously, laundry stacked outside - it's just one of a kind really! It's like in a Harry Potter world where you go to a common laundry place and there's a portal there that transport you into a whole new world behind where its cozy and glimmering ambiance was captivating.
Staffs were super friendly and full of smile making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Food itself was not too bad, it is unique I must say. I love their Bao, soft and fluffy with a thousand flavour packed in a bite. Also, you have to order the scallop dumpling and the famous popcorn chicken (albeit I find the latter rather average - but my folks like it). Pricing is a bit on the high end given the portion. But I guess this is more of a hang-out place where you order a bit of all to share. Nonetheless, a little cheaper wouldn't hurt.
Great atmosphere here and the service is very polite and friendly. We sat on the rooftop which had a great vibe. The food came out reasonably quickly- we were told it comes out when it's ready, so don't expect everyone to eat at once, which was fine. I had the chicken Bao and pork dumplings. Bao was tasty and had a nice spice to it. The dumplings were ok....nothing to rave about unfortunately. There was quite an overpowering flavour of lemongrass, and I thought the portions were very mean for the price; four steamed dumplings for $13!! You can get far more, far better, for far less in plenty other outlets. All in all, a decent place but small portion sizes.
I did enjoy my experience here, I went out with a group of friends on a Friday night for dinner. Inside looks great, the drinks menu is fantastically impressive especially the novelty of being able to order alcoholic bubble tea. I ordered the salmon ramen with extra tofu, it was lovey and very filling. The only downside was that our food took ages to arrive, easily over 50 minutes we were waiting, I don't know whether it was because we were a group of 8 that our food took so much longer? Overall it was a fun experience and I really like how they are attentive to filling up your water when its empty, its just a shame that we had to wait so long for our food, I advise to perhaps this is better to go as a date rather than large groups.
YES! I loved my experience at Lucky Chan's. We were greeted by a really friendly host and the wait staff that followed were also really nice and super attentive without being up in your grill. The food was delicious and so flavoursome. I had the maple cauliflower baos, which was fluffy and oozing lots of flavour. The popcorn chicken was also really satisfying and a great serving size. The last thing I ordered was the vego dumplings. Not my top pick, but still tasty. I will definitely go back!
Great atmosphere, food was good but not remarkable. I found the veggie ramen to be pretty dull - wouldn't order it again - but the sides, especially the dumplings were good. More a place to go for a fun night out than for the food per se.
Absolutely loved the food here. I had the vegetarian ramen with miso corn, tofu, tomato, and rice noodles (so it was vegan) and it was amazing! Super flavoursome and affordable at only $18.50 ($16 plus $2.50 for rice noodles). The atmosphere was relaxed, casual, and friendly. Aloe vera juice was also cheap at only $3.50 for a large glass. Will definitely be returning here soon!
Don't quite understand the negative reviews, but this place has never let me down. Ok sometimes it can be busy and waiting outside in a line can be annoying. The food has always hit the spot. From starting off with the highly addicting pigs ears and then the tasty baos washing them down with good beer and then lastly dessert which was the cheesecake is definitely a must.
This place is amazing - food was so good, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Perfect for a casual night out but could totally go more formal. 2 Vegan ramens were available and Vegan dumplings 😍 will be back soon no doubt!
My most recent visit we sat up on the roof which was beautiful. They have also added a vegan bao which was incredible and not one but two Vegan desserts. We had the coconut panacotta and it was heavenly.
Cheers guys, awesome night, really attentive service. 6 of us could barely walk out of the place we were so full with great food and drinks, only came to $55 ahead, awesome value for what we had. Really nice night to sit on the roof top, felt like a holiday. Cheers.
Love this place. The low lighting interspersed with red light and signs. Reminicent of Hanoi and drinking Bia Ha Noi in the side alleys. Missing the laxy couches and pipes -;
Great to see what has been done downstairs and up.
Loved the food. Had everyting in the snall eats plus Ashai and chased with Saki.
The food was great and the entire experience really good.
The servings are a bit large for two people to share and work through the Menu. Better for 4 people to share. But we'll be back with 4 ppl to make up.
Good value. Great venue.
beautiful food, decor and staff. Little bit pricey, and bit of a line to get in but had an absolute ball, well worth it. Perfect place for a date :P
Been here many times and haven't had a disappointing experience. Really great bao, lovely atmosphere and friendly service. Will continue coming back.
Eclectic surrounds, eccentric staff, excellent food. We were late diners so only had to wait a few minutes for a table but the food was very quick. Great drinks menu!
The food here was pretty good. We came here at 4pm on Sunday to find it was soo crowded despite not being a meal time! We ordered the duck and chicken baos and the ribs. The ribs were so soft that they fell off the bone. The baos were soft and fluffy and had plenty of sauce in the meat.
Firstly, the hours of operation for this place is exceptional! Nothing like a late night food location. Came here for a post midnight feed, had the miso ramen with the chilli noodles, great tasting. Think ill be coming back and topping hte next one up with the pork belly and extra chicken! great meal
Cool restaurant. They do good quality food at a reasonable price. Beers are also good. Customer service has always been pretty good. Been a few times and will keep going.
Having finished work our group of 7 hit streets of Northbridge in search for food and settled on Lucky Chan's Laundry. Being my first visit I really enjoyed the decor and fit out of the place, bought some light entertainment as we wandered up to the rooftop. Staff and service was fantastic. We were received with enthusiasm. All of the group ordered from the Ramen menu list and although we talked about trying the GODZILLA Bowl which rewards the eater to a photo of themselves taken and left on the premises, we opted for the other dishes.
Overall good satisfying food in a casual fun environment. I ordered the Japanese curry ramen with tomato, fried tofu, miso corn and pea shoots. Adding beef brisket and opting for rice noodles. It was hearty and delicious, with loads of noodles.
This place is ridiculous, good for every
Occasion, sat up the stop, and the staff where a+ would trade my girlfriend for 3 bags of pig ears.
Have been here a few times now and it's a firm favourite. Pigs ears are the perfect accompaniment to an ice cold Asahi. Can't get enough of the lamb ribs and popcorn chicken. Great place to finish up a Northbridge outing.
This restaurant is a hidden gem! When we arrived you have no idea there was a restaurant behind the "Laundry mat"! You walk in and it's so funky and modern. We ordered the pigs ears which were delicious and went well with my beer! Must try the scallop dumplings- soft and crunchy outside, just absolutely worth it! Highly recommend the soft shell crab, but make sure u get your own or even 2 for yourself! Differently going back again to try the rest of the menu! Not for people who don't like to try new things outside of their comfort zone.
love this place! such a unique menu and atmosphere. has a great selection of food and drinks, and bubble tea! i got a bao (yum!) and a side salad of tomato and fresh fruits (asked not to have pineapple as a personal preference), my friend got the noodles and said it was very good. service is friendly and quick. a must visit place! thank you.
Great food and excellent service! The two girls that looked after us were outstanding - Keep it up, Perth!
We especially liked the chicken Baos - very tasty. I'll definitely be back to this little gem 😁
Excellent food at very good prices. One of the best Asian style restaurant/bars in Perth! Very unique and quirky, best night. Great service and there is never a long wait for food!
Had a great night out with the boys in the funky & eclectic surrounds of Lucky Chan's. Table service on the rooftop was friendly and efficient and the food was really good - love the ramen. Looking forward to more good times at the Laundry 🍻
Love love love! Timed it well both times I've eaten here so as not to queue. Best thing you can do is go at 12pm when they open or around 3pm. Awesome little bites. Chicken wings are beautiful. Ramen.. Out of this world. So good.
Nice late night joint for a few beers and nibbles. It's not one of those places where you can binge on the food like joints in China Town. But these guys have created their own niche. Nice and not very complicated cocktail list. Good collection of beers on tap and in bottles. Food was also good. Nice place to check out on a week night as it is not busy.
Perfect start to have prawn crackers w Chili flakes, then pigs ear and Ramen. Iove this place but my only negative is being shuuu'd out cause there was other diners needing to have dinner
Thoroughly enjoyed the popcorn chicken and drinks available. Beautiful evening and we were well looked after. Good atmosphere and apparently the Japanese whiskers were good.
Really enjoyed our dinner at Lucky Chan's. We started with a couple of bam bam chicken bao. Chicken was deliciously crisp and the bao was soft like a cloud. Really yum. Then had the special ramen. Portion was very generous. The soup and noodles (squid ink) were flavourful. But the highlight was the bubble tea! Will definitely be back for more.
This cute place dies ramen and other great small dishes. I love their miso popcorn. They have a range if cocktails too. Always a busy place.

To compare with the other ramen place I've been here in Perth, for me? lucky chan's beat em all!! no wonder why people will line up for this place because their food were very delicious!!
A long queue as they don't take reservations. So big groups beware as waiting for a big table will take forever. Food is good but I wouldn't recommend the ramen as the broth is very salty. Service was brilliant cannot fault it.
Lucky Chans was Great! We went when it first opened and decided to go back, glad we did! The service was quick & food was delicious! Very happy with what we ordered. If you haven't been before I'd recommend you go and have a look.
Went with the bf, and we had a great time. Service was great, the menu was interesting, we pretty much tried everything on the menu but the ramen (which I hear we missed out on haha), since I'm not a big eater and wanted to try a lot of stuff.
Food came out quickly, and we were seated at the bar so I had the pleasure of watching all the desserts being prepared.
Sadly was too stuffed to have room for dessert, but will be back again to try!
My girlfriend and I came here tonight ,the restaurant is very unique nothing else like it in Perth, music is entertaining and great drink variety. Food was very tasty and cooked well, prices are slightly high but food was so tasty I didn't mind. Very nicely plated.nice selection of drinks Whisky if in Perth do try
Lucky Chan's has an awesome vibe, great music and decent food. We've been here a few times and always enjoyed everything we've ordered. Would definitely recommend.
LUCKY CHAN'S LAUNDRY + NOODLE BAR... Is a must visit! The Decor & Interior something to appreciate 😊... It was filled with Modern & Exciting Designs!! Embracing the Chinese Theme!! 😍... The Food was Beautiful & Gorgeous !! I only went at lunch time... So I didn't get to try there dinner menu yet... My favourite Dish was the Chicken Wings!!! 😍 ... Delish!! ... & Everyone must visit this Noodle Bar at least once!! Missy_K
Went there with low expectations after reading a review here about the place just being funky but no good food.
Was a busy Friday night, waited a couple of minutes and seated on the 3rd floor. Passing the first two floors gave us a being left out kinda feeling. But all this was compensated with two hearty bowls of awesome noodle soup!Ordered the Cheeky and Seasonal with extra chochiu (extra pork don't know how it spelled). The broth was really good, 'deep' meaty flavour with all the saltiness of the Miso accompanying it, was really spot on for with the heat of chilli in my bowl, all other ingredients in the bowl were well combined and complimented each other's texture and flavour.
Will defiantly come back for some more. Thank you
I was really impressed. Went last night for dinner (Sunday) and the restaurant had a really good, chilled vibe. We were greeted by the host on arrival who asked us if we wanted to sit downstairs or on the roopftop. We opted for the latter which we were really happy with as we got a grand tour of the whole restaurant which had a funky vibe full of laundry props & costume. The rooptop was beautiful with outdoor heaters & beautiful city views, comfy seating, all quite close to your neighbours.
Good, varied menu which we were really impressed with. We opted for chicken wings (to die for), popcorn chicken (very good) prawn dumplings (excellent!) and fried prawns (excellent!)
Will def be back to sample the rest of the menu - great place for a big group of people.
This place is awesome, the food just melts in your mouth. It is so busy everyday yet the food comes out quick and the service is impeccable. Will definitely go back, delicious, friendly, fast, casual and great mix of beats and vibes.
Went here a few weeks ago for dinner with some friends. Have always wanted to go here and I wasn't disappointed. After saying I haven't had a good bao bun yet my friend said I'd love the ones from here and he was correct.
I only had 2 chicken bao buns (could've easily have eaten 3) which were pretty decent in size and the bao itself was light and fluffy and the crunch of the chicken and the sauce was just on point.
I now know where to go in Perth for a decent bao bun - I know that there are a few out there now but this still remains my choice for now ;)
Also had a little try of the "cheeky ramen" which had a good spicy flavour too.
As I'm writing this, the rating for lucky chans on zomato is 2.9 (I nearly didn't go for that reason). And I'm absolutely bewildered about why the place would get such a low rating. The food was out-of-this-world good, we got huge portions for a good price, the drinks were amazing, really great atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and attentive, but not at all annoying or pushy.
I'm wondering if maybe there's something suss going on here (?) or if perhaps people get a little freaked out by the menu. Be brave and give this place a go; I'm sure glad I did. Or don't, whatever, stay in your comfort zone!
Great service every time I've visited. I love that they update their drinks list every so often, loving the bubbletea cocktail selections a lot. Ramen is very average, but the spin on some dishes are interesting. The decor is absolutely quirky and different and sets a nice vibe. Its a great place to for a late night visit if you're sick of always popping by the moon or late night kebabs after a night out. The only downside is that they close off the rooftop area fairly early.
For a stock standard ramen joint I would say that this one is pretty good. There isn't much selection but the menu itself isn't that big. There were a lot of entrées to choose from but sadly not that many ramen choices which was a shame cause I was feeling quiet ramen-y!
The food that came out was delicious, I had the Karaage chicken which had so much flavour, the chicken broke up the strong broth so all in balanced out perfectly.
Anthony Trovato and I also order the tofu dumplings which came served in a nice laksa soup, spicy but beautiful and we also ordered the chicken baos which were so soft but had the crunch on the inside.
Service was prompt, water was topped regularly and the staff were very friendly.
Not too sure the low rating but I definitely recommend:
Been here many times. Attentive wait staff, great vibe but do NOT order the ramen! It tastes nothing like a ramen should. Too many flavours that don't really balance out. On a positive note, our pork and chicken baos are delicious every time. Love the lychee and mint bubble cocktails too. Try and get a table on the roof of you can. Lovely view of the city.
Had a great meal Saturday night on the roof top floor. Left about 8 pm I have lost my prescription glasses and have tried unsuccessfully to ring you to see if you have found them. It would help if you answered the phone would you please let me know if you have found them. Thank you Christine
Lucky Chan's is in a great spot, we sat on the top floor overlooking the city skyline at dusk. Great atmosphere and friendly service. I liked the decor - very pretty. We didn't know what to expect food-wise, but were pleasantly surprised. I chose the ramen and japanese dumplings. The dumplings were nice, but not suited completely to my liking. A large portion of ramen was very robust and hearty (although it could have been spicier). Overall, the experience was top notch!
Not bad - dropped in around 6.30 on a Thursday.. And just missed the rush
Ordered the pork bah mi Bao and Chicken Boom Bom Bao both where delicious. The cheeky ramen which was spicy and rich and the satay pork noodles fresh and tasty. Great service and good venue
We didn't know what to expect, but this place was a pleasant surprise. It has a wonderful atmosphere, and the multiple levels are all unique. The food was pretty good, but not the best. When combined with the setting, it certainly makes it worth a visit. I had a the Ramen (cheeky) which was pretty tasty. Other person had the Pad Thai, which was pretty average.I'll be back.
I FINALLY went to lucky Chans after what seemed like I was the last person in Perth to go here. I wasn't disappointed. I had the vego/tofu boa and the popcorn chicken. Yummmo!! My friends had the chicken & pork boa and squid and steamed greens. Everyone loves their meal :) I'd definitely be back again. Great service and very flavorful food. The boa's are $7ea and the other dishes were about $12 ea. Pretty fair for Perth prices. Great music selection too!
Dined at Lucky Chans this evening with some friends. Waited roughly 20 minutes before being seated though was worth the wait. Between the 5 of us we each ordered a Bao and a few ramen and noodle dishes to share. The Chicken Bao was a hit all round and I strongly recommend it! Didn't get to try the dessert though will defiantly be returning to try it. The music was pretty great, too.
Really cool trendy place! Has a wicked atmosphere about it and food is pretty good aswell. Also worked out to be a pretty cheap meal aswell, drinks are fairly standard price. Great place to take a chick on a date, never let me down!
Went to lucky chans for the first time last night. Incredible food and great atmosphere. Only thing i will say is the crispy pigs ears need a few lime wedges. One slice of lemon doesnt do the ears justice. Will be back.
Probably one of the more appealing restaurants in Perth as there isn't a great deal to offer here unfortunately. Considering it's in Australia's prominent developing capital city yet they are still struggling to come to terms with the movement of multicultural cuisine.
Stepping forward: the quirky decor and architecture of this eatery was seamlessly appealing as was the demography eating here. Not only was I impressed by its structure and artistic appeal that also coincided with the visual stimulation of the washing machines that engulfed the main entry, the playlist was even more impressive. There's nothing more satisfying than bopping away to some early and late 90's dance and pop tracks. I think we had a winner on our hands right here.
Now to the nitty gritty. For what was a lengthy wait for oil meals (in excess of 45 minutes) I believe I made the right choice with the 'Cheeky Ramen' dish and 'Indonesian salt 'n' pepper calamari'. Both delicious in their own ways with a fantastic balance of viet/asian fusions. Throughout the evening, the service was prompt and knowledgeable but as 1 review previously mentioned, $10.50 for an Asahi? Come on now! Perth is expensive enough as it is but this just adds insult to injury! Apart from the extortianate beer prices and delays in serving our foods, I would definitely return again when I'm back in Perth as value for money also hit the spot with this one.
If you like that sort of a twist to a restaurant with a funky feel to it then look no further walk in and be tripped out by the dryer machines and ironing boards way cool with a rooftop seating aswell it is a great atmosphere and the food is amaze balls chicken bao boom boom won me over so good sticky wings and the beef ribs were so delicious I just wish they had more cocktails would of loved to have washed it down with a long Island ice tea but apart from that is was a great place and friendly staff explained everything we needed to know with the food.

A very quirky and urban touch to the typical asian eatery. This place serves more of a modern fusion take on traditional asian cuisine so DON'T expect it to be authentic. If you are looking for a place to eat 'authentic asian food' I would suggest to go else where. Lucky Chan's did deliver well. Dumplings and baos were nice. The dumplings were very thick and filled with filling!! Baos were great and quite filling. Finished off with ramen which was nice however, the broth had strong flavours but was thicker than typical ramen. This took a bit of getting used to and did make the dish alot heavier. Extra points for being open til 2 AM ! They do some pretty good cocktails too.
Very tasty food. Good service by good-looking professionals ;) The primary downside is the over-priced alcohol. $10.5 for an asahi. Ludicrous. We had the ramen, good value and tasty. The green tea noodle salad, a little pricey but delicous. We also had the pig ear and sweet prawns, both good value and f'ing tasty. We recommend this place to our non-drinking friends in Perth.
This place is cool! The decor is funky (and the music is sweet). The staff are really easy going and fun. The food is yum, I really enjoyed the Karaage Kid Ramen and the Karaage Bao. The asian inspired drinks are very interesting. The upstairs seating area is very nice when it's a clear night and they open up the roof. But I imagine the bottom and middle floors can get very very warm and noisy.

We love the kickstarter food movement. There’s some great ideas we’d love to get on board with and kickstarter gives us a chance to be a small part of it. Lucky Chans Laundry and Noodle Bar were one such Kickstarter campaign we threw our support behind before moving to Melbourne. We were disappointed we didn’t get to try it before we left and made it one of must visits on our return!
Awesome décor and love that it's open so late. I actually don't mind the food (for what it is). Wasn't a huge fan of the desserts but it ain't a dessertbar I guess! Staff are friendly and accommodating. p.s. Whoever is selecting the music, props to you.
It’s been awhile for me to visit Lucky Chan, so I’ve decided to revisit it again so to ease my exam pressure. Is it new for the rooftop place? I found it pretty nice up there even though its kinda small. Nice food together with the awesome sunset. Cool :)
(i) Crispy Pig Ear:
Well, they made it perfectly because the ears were so crispy. You may find it weird or disgusting for eating the pig ears? But once you tasted it, you will find it, well, nothing special but kinda yummy!
(ii) Pulled chicken & shark bay prawn hokkien mee, crispy fried egg, sprouts:another thing that i found it pretty interesting here was the way they presented a fried egg. That fried egg was a poached egg being fried hahahaaaa, but overall, this dish was so nice but I feel like it doesn’t worth for the price.
(iii) Black vinegar braised beef skin bao (front) and Karaage chicken bao (back):
The baos are still so nice and they are still my favorite baos in town. But remember to eat it quick once they served it on your table coz the rooftop is kinda windy up there. The baos ended up so cold :'(
(iv) The Karaage kid (soy based):
finally i can tried the 62 degree egg coz last time when i been to lucky chan, well, they served me an broken 62 degree egg. I was so disappointed last time. This time, I was like yeahhhhhhhhh finally
good ambiance, decent/good food but a weee bit overpriced for what it is...
it had a great vibe with music in the background and it was quite busy!!. i enjoyed it but its not for everyone. i really do hope they have a look at their prices though.
Went for a late Saturday night service was friendly and helpful especially the bar man . We had to wave the waitress down a couple of times to get attention but I do love the vibe in here. The pumpkin dumpling was bland and u couldn't really taste the chilli but the rest of the food we ordered was so tasty and well put together . Can highly recommend the Karage Chicka Bao Wow the Sharks bay prawn dumplings and the street prawns. Still probably the best late night eat in Perth!!
Saturday November 7 Supper
Love the bao's
Love the cocktail menu and range of spirits
Love the decor
Love the bar seats.. Be a table of one and feel comfortable
Love the upstairs set up
Love the friendly staff
Love the shareable nature of most dishes
Love that the menu is larger now than before
Loathe the lack of service and it took a while to stare someone down
Loathe the tasteless pumpkin dumplings
Loathe how noisy it gets (not their fault)
Loathe the narrow queuing to pay your bill systems.. Especially when it's full!
Loathe the weekend Northbridge lack of parking, but the week nights are usually easy
Visited Lucky Chans after reading about it everywhere, seemed like a great idea to have dinner at a rooftop restaurant when its raining... but it really isnt a big deal when you have cover!
Ambience is really great, you walk in and you feel like you've found a great little gem! We ate on the rooftop and had a mixture of bites including to Crazy 88 Octopus for a nibble followed by Penang duck dumplings & Shark Bay prawn dumplings for entrée. The Penang Duck dumplings were our favourite the sauce was delicious and the coriander was so fresh!
For mains we had the chicken and prawn hokkein noodle and the squid/tomato salad. Cannot fault the noodles was absolutely delicious my parter pretty much drank the sauce from the bowl! The only gripe we had was that the salt and pepper squid main was pretty much 3 pieces of squid and a punnet of tomatoes.... the lovely waitress asked what we thought and we said it wouldve been better if there was more squid. 5 minutes later they gave us the same main with triple the amount of squid. So we were stoked!
Absolutely great atmosphere, friendly and engaging staff and a bloody tasty & well priced feed! Cant wait to come back when it is sunny!
Visited on Sunday night. The place was busy. Food was plentiful but came to the table at different times. I had ordered a Gin and Tonic and one of the waitress couldn't pronounce it at the table? My cold ramen dish was nice but bland. Would visit again as servings were good value.
Busy place staff on the ball and friendly and helpful. There when you need them. The layout and overall feel of the place is relaxed. The savoury part of the meal was satisfactory but the desserts is why they earned a 4. Extremely tasty and so unexpected. Thanks to all staff, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Will recommend!
First of all I must say this place deserves far more than the 2.9 it has at the moment! I went there 4 times since i am in Perth and it is really one of the best venues I have seen so far. Decor is literally amazing, really immersive, you have a very nice rooftop and the price is, I think, consistent with what you order. If you take a ramen it won't cost you much and I can tell you you'll be full after it. If you order a main like the beef rendang for instance it would cost you more yes, but the portion is quite big and it's very tasty too. But above all the service is amazing, all the waitresses I had there were absolutely lovely and smiling all the time, it makes such a difference !!!
As for the spiciness of the dishes I don't pay attention when the dish is not spicy as i really don't like it. What I can tell is that all the dishes I tried were very very tasty. And you can ask them to make it more spicy if you want to ! But I think that making mild dishes is a good idea, as not everyone likes having their mouth on fire !
Came for lunch today, sat up stairs on the deck. Ordered the duck dumplings and 2 karaage kid level 5 hotness . The duck dumplings weren't the best, couldn't taste we were eating duck. But the Karaage kids were delicious ! Great little place, will return.
Best playlist ever! 90's all day made our date night. Oh and the beer is good to.
The food was delicious. The only problem was that we got wet on the top floor because it started raining outside. Service was good and we were eventually able to move somewhere where it wasn't so wet. Would probably have a much better experience in dry weather or on another floor.
I reckon Quentin Tarantino would be rather impressed with the Lucky Chan’s wine list in Northbridge. Why am I bringing Quentin into this you ask? Well it’s not hard to see that Lucky Chan’s, Perth’s first crowd-funded restaurant, has a strong Kill Bill theme to the skinny, tall venue which spans over 3 levels.
Sensational food. I had the mushroom bao and the vegetarian ramen. The flavours are amazing. I absolutely loved it and look forward to my next visit.
We have been wanting to come here for sometimes but we have not had a chance until now. Wow! What a place! Really cool and different. We ordered prawn dumplings for entree. It was too salty for my liking and I did not like the texture too. For the main, we had cheeky ramen; it was beautiful and tasty. Unfortunately, we had to wait for a while for our food to arrive even though it was not a busy afternoon. I would love to come back to try some other menu and hopefully we dont have to wait too long for our food next time.
Spicy yet satisfying. This three-floor Laundry and Noodle bar will take you to the streets of Japan with a rustic urban vibe. You could definitely taste the freshness of the Ramen as they handmade their noodles and Baos as well as their dumplings. Friendly staff service and even gave us cucumber because we found the spiciness levels too hot (Level 2 is already very spicy) Would definitely come back to try their dinner!
I love this place. By far my favourite restaurant.
Amazing fresh food, so much flavour and beautifly presented. service is impeccable.
I highly recommend this place.
Great food, friendly service. Really enjoyed my visit here the other night. It was busy but service wasn't slow. The staff were very friendly and the music was a hilarious mix of ballads, classics and gangster rap! The food was all tasty and all the meat was very well cooked! My favourite was the ribs. My only complaint would be that the ramen bowl I had was too spicy!
LOVE THIS PLACE!!
Great food, great drinks, great environment, great price!!!!!!!!
The only downer is that it's just that little bit too loud.
Any feedback would just to notch the volume down a bit.
I probably won't be able to write a particularly lengthy review of this place, even though I really liked it. I'll probably just cover the main points
The ramen is very good, the guys know how to cook a noodle and there was considerable "bitey-ness" of the noodle itself, no noticeable sogginess. The soup used an excellent broth, one that can be slurped even without condiments, which is always a testament to a good soup.
There was no MSG head-rush, and no after effects, this always a mighty big positive for me!
Pretty good drinks menu, it was nice to see a couple of beers you don't find too often.
Though it may not look it from the outset, there is plenty of substance over style in this place, as the food is most definitely good enough for the price you pay, which is not overly expensive for Perth.
All in all, a good spot, and considering that this shop would be one of the easiest to find parking for in Northbridge, I would consider this one of my first stops if I was looking for ramen-style noodles.
This place didn't impress me much the first time I came here, but I have since gone back and discovered I really do enjoy this place. I love the interior and the balcony, however the balcony does get too hot as the wall around it blocks the breeze. The service is quite good, the bao is the best I've had and the fried pork noodles are delicious!
Interesting choice of food. Anything Asian basically, i.e.: Japanese, Chinese, and Indonesian. Nice ambience with cramped set up which does resemble the set up you generally find in Asian countries ( Profitability > Comfort). Basic choice of liquor with a few interesting choices.
Ordered ramen. The soup base was nice but the noodles was so and so. The katsu that came with my friend's noodles was well made. The appetizer, pork ears was interesting though.
Would recommend it more as a bar than as a restaurant.
Been seeing so many reviews on this place. So headed there tonight. Not too long a wait given it is a weekday. Arrived around 7pm. A couple of minutes wait and I was given a table.
Table settings is a little bit too close for comfort. Was given a table for two that was tough to get into. The waitress has to push the outside chair out and the table for one person to sit inside and then push all the fixtures back. First thought was - how would the person be coming out when the meal is finished or to go to the toilet ? Basically trapped inside. The space between tables are so near. You can see people looking at your food and even hear their conversations.
Nice concept ! I like the concept. Dark and dim settings was pretty relaxing. But I cannot help but to think what If we are not able to see clearly what we are eating. What if there are things in the food that with bright lights we can spot easily on food hygiene being compromised ?
Prompt service by waitpersons and they are friendly. Diligent in topping up still water. Choice of music was a mix. Some was bad and music was pretty loud. So imagine listening to songs you don enjoy at that volume.
Tried their cheeky ramen and was asked how spicy we wanted it to be from the scale of 1-10. Chose 7 and when the broth cooled down that is when the chilli flakes sort of sink down the bowl and I can taste that 7 might be a little too hot. 5 or 6 would be good I reckon. Will have to try that out. Steamed buns with karaage chicken was good. A tinge of chillie mayo in them. Something different. Pricey as it cost $6 for one bun.
Tried also their prawn dumplings and I could not taste or visually spot the prawns at all. Tasted the ginger and the pork in it. Prawns or shrimps even were missing in action. The broth tasted a little weird. Sour vinegary ...gingery... A little weird combo. But I guess the star is not the broth but the dumplings.
Also tried their onion rings. The sauce was also weird tasting to me. A little of ketchup sauce, vinegary and BBQ sauce - I suspect. All mixed up. Weird but the rings had to go with it. Crispy but not much taste on the batter so with the dips, made it better.
Overall I am entertained by the concept and the decor of this place. Happy I went down to check it out. So I think it is wort experiencing this place yourself to decide whether the food is good or not.
Final note - when the bill came, each pax gets a fortune cooking. Lol the messages in them obviously customized for lucky chan. As every message mentions lucky chan in it. Pretty entertaining. Good old fortune cook ones never fails to bring a little curiosity.

COOL COOL COOL! Go for a cocktail and some creative asian food ...recommend the dumplings and crispy fried chicken Bao...mouthwatering! Love the atmosphere worth a quick 20 minute lineup on a busy night.
Dropped in for a Sunday lunch (with Children) and loved it. Got a seat straight away and between us we had a couple of Ramen (really nice) and a some of the Bao (Awesome) could have eaten many.... many.... more.
We'll definitely be back to try some more of the menu, maybe an ironing board to share next time.
Yes you have to queue and wait, but it's not a surprise or unknown so people should go and expect that or go somewhere else. A short wait is worth it for the Lucky Bao Wow menu items... We ordered two serves of each. Dying to come back and try the Ramen.
Bao buns, dumplings and ramen. A match made in heaven!! My very carnivorous hubby even raved about the vego option dumplings and bao bun, although the shark bay prawn dumplings in broth were a stand out. But my favorite thing on the menu has to be the crispy pigs ears 😍
Went during the day mid-week. Staff were friendly, food was great. The dumplings were delicious and the pork ramen was pretty good also.
Would go again.
Awesome place , went there on a thurs night at 530 pm and started to get busy from 6
We sat at the bar and it seemed like the place to be for 2 people as the bartender was engaging and let us try a few Japanese whiskeys . We had some great food the chicken bao wao was the favourite and it came out quick
Nice place and we will come back
Set up like an old school laundromat, the originally crowd funded restaurant was bustling for a rainy Thursday night. We even waited for a table and had to sit on the roof (we were quite hungry).
We started with some prawn crackers with kewpie mayonnaise (which was the hero – so delish!) and some prawn and pork dumplings in a spicy broth. I’m going to admit even after the dumplings were all gone, I had multiple spoonfuls of just the broth. It was the perfect combination of spicy and sweet and went down so well.
We then of course ordered some ramen – both ordering the basic ramen with braised beef cheek, sweet tomatoes and a spicy broth. Besides the fact both of our pieces of beef were the tiniest pieces of meat ever, the overall dish was good. The ramen noodles which they make in house in this big machine on the second story, were really good – definitely slurp worthy – and the soup component was the perfect amount of spice factor.
I can’t say I have had 100 of ramens in my lifetime but from the ones I have had I wouldn’t run into the streets and declare it the new noodle house around town.
Service – 6
Food/Drinks – 6 (more meat please!)
Ambience – 8 (very ‘takes you there’ atmosphere of a laundromat)
Value for $ – 6
Totalling score of 26 out of 40 which isn’t bad for a recently opening noodle house – but it’s right in the centre of some of the greatest Asian eats in the city and if it wants to compete it might have to pick up it’s game. Go to try the ramen but keep your washing at home!
Went at 5:30pm on Saturday night. It was pretty busy but we were served in a timely manner.
Great selection of beers. I ordered the Danny Ramen and upped the spice to 15/20 and added a 62 deg egg. Pretty good chilli kick and one tasty ramen. Also ordered the duck dumplings which were amazing.
Will definitely be going back to try the other ramen dishes and Bao Wows
Came here on a Wednesday - was quite busy but were were seated quickly, service was good. Had the Danny Ramen and some chicken bow wows, and beef dumplings. The dumplings were yum the sauce they were dressed with was delicious. The chicken bow wows were amazing too. Not sure about the Danny Ramen...it was ok, but the pork belly was very rich and in the ramen broth I felt it was a bit too rich.
Cool venue with a super chill vibe and the friendliest of staff! Loved the chicken bow wows and the chicken curry! Amazing! Will be back soon! 😍
I've been here a few times despite the mixed reviews and I have to disagree on the ramen being sub-par. I find the noodles to be cooked perfectly and the soup consistently rich and flavourful. I quite like how you can choose additional chilli based on strength from 1 to 20. Having said that, there was one exception when I ordered a Lucky Shoyu - it was rather bland and the hanoi chicken not particularly tasty (I happened to order right when the soup was being changed, maybe this could have been the reason?).
Drinks are on the expensive side and I would really like more non-alcoholic options. Tried a Raisin the Monk cocktail and found it quite enjoyable; strong but smooth with a nice subtle raisin-sweetness.
Friendly and attentive staff in a restaurant with an interesting concept and nice decor. Definitely worth a try but expect to pay a little more and a long wait during peak times.
Food was amazing great selection of interesting dishes using unusual cuts of meats. We will be back. Great place for hospitality staff to unwind after those long 12 hour shifts. Service was great food was quick and drinks were served with a smile. Great work guys!!!
We had a short wait but the food was good. I really liked the onion rings and my curry. My husband enjoyed a ramen. Overall happy with the food
really enjoyed my pumpkin and sweet potato gyoza and other nibbles while I eyed off everyone else's ramen! will definitely be back to try it. really fun place, very busy too!
Lucky Chan's has definitely upped their game since my first visit over a year ago, food & staff are fantastic (cocktails are amazing) definitely give the bao and popcorn chicken a try!
Lucky Chan's is a great place for a casual meal or linger longer over cocktails - the roof top is one of the coolest spaces in the city. Always has great music (not too loud either, so you can chat). The food is pretty good. Some dishes I really enjoyed, others not to my palate. But the vibe is a winner, so it's worth a visit for that alone
had drinks last Monday with my bf. Food was amazing, friendly staffs, nice music and nice ambiance. Will definitely coming back with some few friends this Thursday.
Read some very mixed opinions about this restaurant and decided to have a try, we arrived at 12:05 pm 5 minutes after the restaurant had opened, the waitress greeted us with a big smile and asked for where we liked to sit, we sat at the roof top which was beautifully decorated, liked the decor and music of this place already,
I had felt like this is some westernised Asian food / ramen, it's mixed some great ideas, Szechuan pork mince was average because I've had the authentic version before and had felt like the corn topped the mince instead, but the tonkatsu ramen was surprisingly delicious.
I felt like the broth was too oily as the only downside and everything else worked so fine together, the meat was lovely and unlike the other reviews the broth did not lack any flavour, noodles were a little bit soft but i prefer my noodles that way anyway, and topping matched with ramen perfectly, wasn't too much toppings and didn't lack any either. The ramen actually tasted like a restaurant I constantly visited in China.
Now, the chicken baos, they had tasted good but not $7 each good, it was a little too dry.
Paying $3.5 for an egg was a bit of a tongue bite, the egg was alright, I didn't like it as much because it was too 'undercooked'. Had just tasted like liquid egg.
P.S, for a ramen restaurant I had expected my food to
Come within 10 minutes because that's the time expected from everywhere else, but lucky chan seemed to be different, our baos were served in 8 minutes but ramen took 20+ minutes ...
We love this place so much. It's become one of my favourites in Perth. Staff are great, food is amazing and the venue is super cool. We've dined here nearly once a week! So damn good, best Ramen I've ever had! Yum yum!!
Quirky little place. On several levels,
passing the 'fresh noodle' maker on the way up through the labyrinth of stairs.
The food is tasty and pleasing on the eye, the staff friendly and have clearly been given customer service training. Slightly expensive for this bracket. But a fun interesting experience which is a refreshing change particularly for Perth.
The dumplings and sharers were a delight, well made and flavorsome, with the baos being a pleasant surprise. The feel of the place is very funky - tounge in cheeky trans-asain if I had to sum it up. Definitely worth a visit and I hope to get back soon!
Awesome atmosphere, amazing staff, and an abundance of great food to choose from on the menu. This is probably my new favourite place in Northbridge; I definitely recommend a visit.
In a stirring tribute to feminism, the waiter let us make it rain money on him. That's an automatic 5 stars. Also the food was delicious, and the cocktails were both surprising AND delightful.
I'm not drunk.
Great service & food but a bit overpriced in my opinion. Amazing decor though, on all three levels. Had the Lychee Mojito Bubble tea which was really nice.
Iconic venue in Northbridge, it’s an absolute must. Asian fusion is my favourite food style and this place takes the cake - or dessert bao as the case may be. Don’t expect traditional ramen, that’s not what this place is about - it is however delicious and creative. The dumplings are sensational. The Sake selection is superb. Bubble tea cocktails ... yes please! The venue is a work of art, and the service is exceptional. We will surely be back to swing our chopsticks again soon!!🎋

....I managed to sneak a taste of the crispy pig ears, although I am not a big fan of pig ears, intestine, tail, you name it. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed the pig ears and thought that they were well seasoned, crispy on the outside with a chewy texture. Delicious! Looking at what the food my dining partners ordered, I immediately thought of a second visit straight away...
The layout and concept of Lucky Chan's intrigued me as did their menu. Set over three levels, every space is well utilised and offers a different ambiance, especially the roof top area.
Staff were friendly and helpful but not especially attentive even though it wasn't particularly busy.
Menu wise, there is a lot on offer. I couldn't get enough of the sticky beef shin and liquorice gyozas, cooked to perfection but $14 for just 4 there are more worthy items on the menu to get the party started. In particular the whitebait served with lotus seeds and wasabi mayo. A generous serving for just $8.
Keen to give their ramen a try, I opted for the Danny ramen (chef's choice) and wasn't disappointed. A substantial meal that was full of flavour at $15.90. I love that you can choose the heat to your dish. I'm still experimenting with the spice factor (1 to 20) and not sure I'm ready for full force 20.
Lucky Chan's is simply great. Find it hard to understanding why people give this place average reviews. People or "whiners" are getting too impatient and too critical with EVERYTHING!! If u don't want to wait, go elsewhere. If u have too many expectations, keep them to yourself. This is an awesome restaurant with great food and reasonable prices. I will be back any day and thank you for Perth's greatest Ramen.
Go. Get. Noodled.. Dinner at Lucky's with the wifey. We had a ramen bowl, couple of asian sambo's, some pork belly, few sides and the chockie cake. Washed it down with some cocktails.
This place is the shiz-niztle. If you ain't got Lucky yet, you missing out on what Perth's got to offer. Service good, had to wait to get in (Saturday night!), decor spot on and price was 90 bucks for heaps good food and a drink each plus tea.
Taste, variety, value, service, ambiance. This laundry comes up fresh as a daisy.
Why the low percentage?. After hearing a few positive comments and seeing Rob Broadfield's review I was shocked to see LC score 58% on Urbanspoon. Surely that can't be right... Urbanspoon is always spot on.
We got there early so getting a table was easy as we just walked straight in. It's a cool space and the food is yummy and reasonably priced just like many others in the area.
When we left around 7ish there were easily 30 people in the line and it was growing. I think this is the reason the score is only 58%. After waiting for 30ish mins in line for noodles, which are quickly eaten and you're outta there shortly after you leave wondering what all the fuss was about. This isn't a criticism of the food. People's expectations have been made too high.
Would I go back? Sure would, but I wouldn't line up.
Wasn't Bad. Couldn't wait to try this place out as I love ramen & there was so much hype around the whole "Who is Lucky Chans?"
It was ok... wasn't bad, but wasn't wow either. They DEFINITELY need to look at their house wine though. That I'm sure of.
But yeah, may go back again once they've settled and reassess. But for now, it was ok :)
Great Little Gem!. Went here last night with a group of friends for dinner. Loved the atmosphere created by the decor immediately - old laundry machines and the industrial/school yard look. We were seated up on the second level in a cosy corner table - perfect size for our group. We ordered a load of food from the menu (which the waitress committed to memory!!) and then sat back to enjoy the wine. The food was plentiful and very tasty. Round one done - dumplings, vegetables and other goodies, we then went on to our port belly and soft shell crab dishes along with other tasty items from the menu. We all really enjoyed the evening and the food and would definately recommend this little place to others.
Great experience. Came in on a sunday at 11pm to find the place buzzing, got promptly seated, great service. Ordered the Danny Ramen and it was sublime, 5 stars. Sake was nice on the side along with some prawn crackers. Ambience of the place is wonderful. Will be back.
Delicious food. Excellent atmosphere. Recommend the pork belly and the Thai beef rolls. Service was amazing - Sarah D looked after us superbly, I have an allergy and she ensured I could eat safely and still enjoy the food - nothing felt like a hassle! Very happy ☺️
Cool venue, fairly good food and average service. We ordered the pig's ear and dumplings for entree - they were pretty good. Ramen for mains - not great. I've definitely had better ramen before. And once we finally flagged down a waitress we ordered desserts. The table agreed that the desserts were the best thing of the night - they were delicious. I think they could improve on their table service and ramen. I'd come back but order a different main.
Brilliant. Fantastic (and hilarious) service, delicious food and really well priced. Definitely recommend the bao and will definitely be back - hopefully very soon!
Fantastic venue that's aiming to achieve excellence in everything it's doing.
Great place. My bowl of ramen was perfect on a winters day.
Ordered 15/20 for chili after checking how hot 20/20 was. Waitress scared me but ended up adding extra chili so should have gone all the way!
Awesome concept and hope they do well. I'll be back to test out the larger evening menu!
Super food!. I went all the way up to the rooftop bar the other night where Lee looked after our table. He was brilliant. The food was delicious too, I'm glad we took the recommendation for the Bao....goddam superb!! Well played Lucky Chan!
So delicious!!. Friends and I headed down in a whim and we loved it! The Lamb bao was my favourite, the pork belly was sensational, the music and atmosphere was great, I love old school music. The staff are friendly, attentive and funny. Lee and Jane are definite assets to the place, thanks guys for making our night.
We'll be coming back soon!
Ramen. Looked good taste was ok. Soup base lacked depth.
Absolutely fantastic experience. Rocked up at 7pm on Saturday and there was a queue out the door. Door girl was working overtime to get groups inside, (all the waitstaff seem to have little earpiece walkie-talkies) and despite being at the back of the line we were in within 5 mins. Luckily our group was only 4 people.
We were seated at the bar, which you wouldn't think ideal for talking to one another in a group larger than 2. But one of the first things I noticed was that, even though the place was packed, it wasn't crazy noisy - big tick.
The service we got was amazing considering how flat out they were. Timely, personable, attentive and professional. Drinks and food came out within 5-10 minutes of ordering, which was quite astonishing. This joint is powered by a well-oiled team of pros. They've really got their sh*t together. And the food... Wow! Didn't try the ramen but we sampled some of the noodles in a chilli noodles dish that my friend ordered, bloody good noodles. Best gyoza I've EVER eaten, hands down. The chicka bao wow are everything you've heard, and then some. We initially ordered a couple to share but ordered more because they are damn moreish. Sampled quite a few things on the menu, but I'm not going to go on about it cos I reckon if you're interested in going to Lucky Chan's, just get in there and order things you've got no idea about, have a bit of an adventure, you'll only be pleased you did.
Ramen town. Went for a quick dinner on Friday night. Seated straight away which was fab! Got the beef shin and licorice gyoza which were bangin. Then the fried chicken bao, which were OK. Had the danny
Good food, service needs a bit of tweaking. Went here for lunch and the ramen was great. Could have done with a touch more flavour but I was still very happy. The dumplings and other starters looked really good, I'd love to go back and try them. Staff were a bit all over the shop, minus the manager who was helpful and very informative. A few orders were muddled up so service could do with a bit of a fix but food was tasty and I'll be back
To be honest, I have no idea but I know that we are lucky to have such a cool restaurant in Perth. Lucky Chan’s Laundry and Noodle Bar is a relatively new outfit in Perth and one that I had been meaning to visit for months. So after seeing a mid day French movie at Cinema Paradiso with a friend my wish came true. Aren’t I lucky? Lucky Chan’s occupies a tall and narrow building. Its laundry concept is random, how many places choose to put ironing boards as decoration on the side of the wall? There are about three washing machines at the front desk…..Interesting! Because the weather wasn’t too bad today, my friend and I choose to enjoy our Raman on the Roof Top. As we climbed up the steep stairs we saw where they made the noodles and see where else we could enjoy our dinner/drinks. Danny Ramen Once we had settled in our spot, we were quickly handed menus and decided on some Ramen – a big bowel of Shio for me and a bowl of Danny Ramen for friend. They were beautifully presented and tasted great. Lucky Chan’s also has a s
Will definitely be back. I agree with some of the other views on here that the service definitely needs improving (well intentioned but inattentive and a bit vague on the menu), and that it's verging on being a bit pricey for what you get, but I can't agree with the negative comments on the food.
Both the ramen dishes that we tried were the best I've had in quite some time. I'm not going to argue with the ramen purists who claim Lucky's version is inauthentic - it may well be, but the broth was rich, definitely not too salty (Nao wins the gold medal for that!) with generous slices of pork and well cooked noodles - I left not a skerrick in my bowl.
Great fit out, good food, I'll be visiting again.
Great setting, good atmosphere! Service needs to be improved, we waiting quite a bit for our menus then again to order but once that was fixed it was a great night. The food was delicious !
Fresh and fun. Went for a mid-week catch-up with friends. Great vibes as soon as you walk through the door. We sat upstairs on the balcony which, even on a cool autumn night, was lovely. Nice menu selection - everything that came out looked delicious. I had the Szechuan soft shell crabs ... they were nice but I would have liked a bit more spicy punch to them. I should have gone for the ramen - oh well, next time! Dessert however ... oh my god, the chocolate cake!!! It was amazing!!! Seriously the best dessert I've had in ages. My one criticism of the place is that the staff are too helpful. We were being approached by different staff members every couple of minutes and it was a little much by the end of the night. But they were really lovely all the same. If you're in Northbridge, this is definitely a place to try.
Awesome noodle soups. I had a fantastic vegetarian soup with a great coconut flavored base. Great and friendly service with a funky vibe. Definitely be back!!
Hong Kong fooie. All I can say is .. We had a fantastic time here last night (Saturday). Met up with pals we haven't seen in ages and all had a fab time.. Great food and great ambience and realistic pricing. Definitely going back. Soon.
Ordered the tonkatsu ramen with extra chasu, nuts and prawn crackers for dinner today. I like the nuts as its slightly sweet but at the same time salty. For the tonkatsu ramen, the broth is actually a lot more thicker than the usual ones we get, it actually feels a lot more like gravy. However, it's very flavourful and tastes different from the usual ramen so I recommend you guys to try it. The service was excellent. The price is a little steep at 21.40 for a ramen with extra chasu.
Awesome night out. As soon as you arrive you really do notice the funky decor. We had a brilliant night out of great food, excellent drinks and great service. Definitely going back.
Fun, creative , great night out. Fantastic new, bar/restaurant , the fit out is very clever and creative, great vibe , friendly staff, delicious food. Well worth a visit.
A fun place for a drink, a meal or a great night out . The whole set up is very creative, and the atmosphere is vibrant and casual . The chicka bao wow are delicious. Fabulous place not just for a meal but to settle in for the night
Excellent, no nonsense service. Good selection of alcohol and the chika baow is to die for.
Nice. After going to darlings this is what i needed
Seems like they might have picked up their game since some of the earlier reviews as we had great service, promptly served meals and an altogether great dinning experience. Love the crowd funding concept. Decor adds to the vibe with the flavour some meals matching the experience. Well done Lucky Chan's!
Great food, great service!. Party of three seated on the rooftop, went there on a heaving Thursday night. I was a bit apprehensive as I read about the problems others have had, and when we got there we learned that the staff elevator had broken down. But no, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Drinks were brought promptly. We ordered several dishes of dumplings and appetisers, all were delicious but the crispy pigs ear was fantastic. Next course of ramen was great, very tasty and a generous serving. All food arrived within 15-20 mins of ordering, pretty damn good considering they were packed and were running plates up and down 4 flights of stairs. Only complaint was the rooftop needs some outdoor gas heaters, it got a bit chilly up there but it didn't spoil the night. Will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed Lucky Chans. My friend and I stumbled across the resturaunt at a very awkward time for food (around 4.30om) and were ushered immediately to seats. The wait staff were relatable, and friendly. The cocktails were above average, and the food was impeccable ! I have read a few reviews claiming that the food here is average but we had a large sample of various items from the menu, all of which came promptly, were fresh and well presented and at a reasonable price. I would describe it as fusion Asian, Australian modern. It wasn't as traditional as some noodle places but I believe it works!
We tried the tofu with pineapple, fried greens, the white bait with wasabi mayo was absolutely to die for, and the beef dumplings were just awesome.
Perfect place to go on a first date, or a catch up with a friend. Students would appreciate the reasonable prices too!
Love the fitout! Each floor has a different feel and it's certainly not boring! A real talking point. The food is also a talking point - yum sums it up. There's plenty of options on the menu for all tastes, and a vegetarian choice in each category. Service was friendly and earnest - still a few teething problems being only newly open (and spread over 3 floors) but they're almost there!
Mostly good with small teething issues. Unlike many other people it seems, I had a positive experience at Lucky Chan's. I had the soy ramen, the ramen had a nice texture and the broth was flavoursome if a little salty. Service was good for the most part. If there were any downsides, I'd say the service isn't quite polished yet and the bowls on our table were not cleaned properly, but this is understandable given that I went during their opening week.

Lucky Chan's Laundry & Noodlebar is the first crowd funded restaurant to open in Perth. It is opened by the same people that brought us The Classroom and you can really tell through its quirky personality. The noodlebar is stretched over three levels where the first level is a classic bar/dining area, the second floor appears to be reserved for functions and the third floor is a cosy roof top bar. The menu is a modern twist on asian cuisine, so don't expect anything authentic and it showcases many different types of asian food rather than focusing on one.
Great Ramen, and looking forward to coming back for a drink!. Popped in about 2.30pm, had a bowl of Ramen and it was delicious. It was the opening day and I'd heard there'd been a few teething issues, so I had a chat with a couple of the guys there and apparently a few new staff chose not to show up in the morning! Service was great when I was there, and I'll be back for more. Reccomended!
Best theme bar in Perth. Went along to this place last night and I was gobsmacked, since when did Perth start getting bar/restaurants like this? Complete dedication to the theme right down to the drink selection, and very cleverly thought out. It was fun to look around and spot little details that have been put into every inch of the place.
I read some bloggers had to wait a long time for their food but mine wasn't too long a wait and it was delicious.
Last point - cheap! Surprisingly cheap.
I think it won't be long before they're fully up and running (perhaps some small teething issues with the opening) but I will definitely be back soon!
