Review Aisuru Sushi - Perth

Stephanie Georgiev
Sushi was fresh and tasted authentic. Service was fast and friendly. Will come back again. One of my favourite places to eat now.
Jessica Strauss
Lovely service and some unique sushi offerings. Good variety of drinks.

Nice experience but crowded on a Saturday evening! Food was good and sushi was unique to say the least. Not your average sushi selection which was not what I was expecting. However the sushi turned out surprisingly good. The chicken katsu set was average and nothing spectacular. Would've appreciated if it came with a spoon though as it came with a bowl of soup and had rice. Overall not too bad, may return again to try the other sushi selections but probably not for the same stuff.

Awesome food at very reasonable prices. Banana dessert is a massive surprise. Thanks guys for such welcoming hospitality and fantastic service.

Been here a couple of times. Great vegan options and service is fast but when it gets busy the staff do get a little flustered and tend to get orders wrong or serve the wrong orders. But very pleased with the quality of the vegan sushi tho. Definitely recommended for the out of the box options and value for money.

I wanted to like it, but the tables are, especially in a covid world, incredibly close to each other. The decor is sterile and the dishes a bit pricey for what is on offer. Staff are attentive though. They don't do anything to separate themselves from the crowd.

Possibly the best sushi in Perth! Incredible choices, some very strange options that I wouldn’t put together but once giving it try they will very quickly become your new favourite! If anyone’s reading this, you HAVE to try the magic mushroom sushi, I tried it as a sampler on maybe my 3rd visit and it is absolutely my new go to option!!! Each time I go I try something new and I’m never disappointed, love that you can order a larger roll and a ‘sampler’ roll, it encourages you to try all their options Excellent place to eat before heading to a show or out in the city, I just wish you were open between 3pm and 6pm too 🤣

Food is unreal!! Edamame beans is my favourite from now😍 the veggie sushi options are very good if not the bests I have tryed and portions are really big. Definitely coming back. Also personnel is Lovely.
Kim
Ordered 4 different types of sushi - all mediocre and on the pricey side given the amount of seafood included. The rice was not firmly pressed and fell apart as soon as I lifted it up. To make things worse, service was horrid.
Anon
Unfortunately not worth $19 for tuna sushi. Had better $4 hand rolls. Overpriced for the size and quality of sushi. Left hungry and disappointed especially after wanting to try this place for a long time.
Jon
This is not the place to eat Japanese food. Really not fresh. The lotus chip where pre cooked and burnt Over priced and terrible service. Will not come back.

Food is pretty average. Good food but nothing special. Prices are high for what you get. Service is good. Corn Tempura was really bad. Just deep fried corn in oily batter. Yakuza yakatori was average and not what I was expecting. Nigiri scallop and beef was ok.

Always consistent. Prompt polite helpful staff. Delicious innovative sushi, beautifully presented. <br/>Have been going here on and off since it opened, still just as good as the first time.<br/>Couldn't ask for more.

So reliable and fast. Whether I’m in there for a quick snack or a sit-down dinner, it’s always good. I’m a fan of tofu and I love the agedashi here. It’s great to sit around the kitchen and watch the chefs too.

Service was good but food tasted pretty average. I liked the chicken karage and really disliked the beef skewer, it was so tough and dry and chewy.<br/>When you go there whatever you order just don’t order beef skewer.

This is a great Japanese restaurant with reasonably priced and delicious sushi. For starters, I really liked the karage chicken and sweet corn tempura. For sushi rolls, I like how you have the option of choosing it as a main with 8 pieces or 4 for a starter size. I really liked the summer roll (grilled salmon), kirika roll (grilled salmon and scallops) and sunburn roll (spicy tuna).
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
My friend and I where wanting something health and stumbled across this little Japanese restaurant. My friend know I’m vegetarian and normally there is not much on the list for vegetarians in a Japanese restaurant.<br/><br/>We walked in the staff are very on the ball game. Asked how many people? Did you want to sit at the table and chair or the bench??? We said the table and chair. <br/><br/>She gave us the menu and I am surprised 😯 they actually have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options here. <br/><br/>We ordered like 4 different vegan ones and one chicken teriyaki for my friend. <br/><br/>Crunchy Buddha’s delight roll. Was amazing it is so light and you can taste everything is well balanced. Can taste the mushroom and the avocado the tempura flakes gave it a nice texture! The teriyaki sauce was not to over powering!!!!<br/> <br/>The apple of love, also tasted yummy the tomato on top was a little grilled. This one is so light and fluffy. <br/><br/>Veganpillar roll, cucumber asparagus sliced carrots, the plum sauce was to die for. <br/><br/>Beets international roll. Cucumber, asparagus, avocado with a plum sauce. Sweet but not over sweet. 😍<br/><br/>Chicken teriyaki. My friend said was so tasty and love every bit of it!!!!<br/><br/>The green tea ice cream is the bomb!!<br/><br/><br/><br/>What I must say is that this Japanese restaurant is the vegetarian/vegan rolls or so light fluffy and tasty amazing ,even you’re children will love them! This place is perfect for a date, it ambience is quiet relaxing and the fittings are very Very modern.

The tofu was good and refreshing, portion a bit small and toppings were not evenly distributed. <br/><br/>The vegan roll was an interesting but simple combination of the skin and veggies. Their soft shell crab was unfortunately not wrapped well and did not hold its shape. Taste was so-so too. Overall their sushi is okay, small portions, but interesting combinations. <br/><br/>Their chicken karaage was delicious. The batter was light but crispy, chicken well marinated with a strong ginger taste, the spicy mayo complimented it well too. <br/><br/>The ice cream was standard.
Amelia
Extremely overpriced. Nigiri was way too expensive for two TINY portions, they were literally almost 4cm in length and they were around $12-15. No salmon roe was added either, just plain thin slices of fish. I saw another customer ordered rice and it took them around 20 minutes, for a small bowl. They served the customers who paid for expensive and large servings first, which I think is unfair as it does not take a long time to serve up a bowl of rice. I think this restaurant should really work on improving it's time management and as a Japanese restaurant, serve affordable and reasonable portions.

Serious sushi rolls here. When they say "Death by Sushi" (Five roll special) they are not kidding around. Split the Death By Sushi Tuna Lovers, it could handily feed three hungry adults, or a party of five or six out for drinks and some munchies. Each of the rolls were excellent... we surrendered, Sushi won that round. High quality, excellent tasting, recommend highly.

Went on a Sunday night. A great vibe in the restaurant. A variety of good sushi rolls and meat skewers to choose from, as well as sake! Friendly staff and you can watch the food being prepared in front of you.
Truth Be Told Australia
This is my second time here and I absolutely love it . We enjoyed the corn tempura, the prawns wrapped in bacon and the standout was the salmon . Would highly recommend this restaurant.

The service and quality doesn't quite match the price here. We had to ask for menus, we didn't get quite what we ordered and the seaweed was very chewy. Some of the dishes coming out in the other tables looked super impressive though.
Foodie In Paradise
Very fresh sushi and their sushi always nicely presented. Price is a bit expensive compare to some other Japanese restaurant . Friendly service and food came out very quickly.
@Foodieguide_lily
A great little place with friendly staff and good food. The sushi is fresh, and good serving sizes in a nice clean atmosphere although not always prompt however I've not had a bad experience here. A great spot for a relaxing meal.
Russell
I love this place. I've been eating here for a couple of years now, and still one of my favourites for lunch or dinner. Usually fast and friendly service, but the food is always the star
PerthfectBreakfast
Not the cheapest sushi in town but they do have a creative menu and from the pictures below, you can see they're not stingy with the tobiko. <br/><br/>Between the two of us we ordered 4 serves of half rolls: the flower plum roll (teriyaki chicken, avo, egg wrap and plum sauce), dragon roll (tempura prawn, cucumber topped with eel slices, tobiko and eel sauce), dynamite roll (spicy tuna and spicy mayo) and kirika roll with seared salmon, seared scallops and plenty of tobiko. The best roll of the night was Kirika and would order again and again. The dynamite roll was pretty bad. It had waaaayyyy too much spicy mayo and just over powered everything. <br/><br/>We also got the creamy popcorn shrimp which was a bit rubbery and expensive at $15 for 5 shrimps. We also got yakitori sticks (beef, chicken and pork belly). They were nothing special and the sauce was a little runny. Would've preferred a sticky icky glaze.<br/><br/>All up it was $82 for the above mentioned with two green teas. 3.5/5 for the food but an overall score of 3/5 for overall value.
Claire
I've dined here before and had a great experience however got take away today but for $16.50 I would have hoped for avocado that wasn't brown and lettuce that wasn't wilted. The salmon and the dressing was delicious though.
Denise Koh
The place looked really nice on the inside, the presentation of the food was colourful and promising, and service is decent. But when it came to taste, the sushi was decent but nothing amazing, definitely overpriced for underwhelming food. Overall, not a bad place, but not worth the prices they charge. Food looks better than it tastes here. There is better tasting Japanese food elsewhere for lower prices.
Little Aussie Epicurean
I really enjoyed the quality of sashimi and sushi here. We sat outside as a large group and was served efficiently. All the dishes were beautifully presented and delicious.
Raymond "Gary" Nguyen
Have you ever had sushi like these before? I bet you you haven't. It's so unique, you can't have sushi like this anywhere else. Sushi is is very very nice, and filling. The place is elegant and clean. The chefs will cook the sushi right in front of you. A must go to when visiting Perth.

After walking around Northbridge, my friend and I were very tired and also very hungry! We came around 6pm and the place wasn't very crowded yet. The place itself was quite nice, simple and bright inside. <br/><br/>We ordered the Kirika Roll, Salmon Skin & Unagi Roll, Dragon Roll and the Salmon & Avocado Roll. The Dragon Roll was great, the tempura crunchy and quite big, with generous fish roe literally piling at the top of the sushi! The Kirika Roll is my favourite of the meal, though. The salmon and scallop was seared well and the sauce was also good. The fish roe was also plenty on top of the sushi and the plate was warm when it came to our table. <br/><br/>However, I find the Salmon & Avocado to be average and the sushi wasn't rolled too well, as it was kind of falling out when we picked it up. I was disappointed with the Salmon Skin & Unagi Roll because the menu said crispy tempura skin, but the salmon skin inside was cold and most definitely not crispy! <br/><br/>Service was quite fast and we didn't have to wait too long. Pricewise, I think the food here is kind of on the pricier side, but still acceptable and we did leave feeling full as I find the size of the sushi itself to be just right for myself. I'd be more than happy to spend on sushi if the quality was level with the price.

Friday night walked in for a bite. Was feeling so hungry even in this heat so was very pleased with this dining experience! This includes the prompt seating, prompt service taking our food and drink orders, arrival of said food and drink and overall quality of food! The karaage (and everything) was cooked or made to order, hot when supposed to be hot, fresh and delicious. It doesn't taste like the traditional Japanese flavours I would expect but it was a pleasant surprise.<br/>Price was reasonable for the overall experience, taste and service. Will be back:) Thankyou!<br/><br/>Ps we ordered about $64 worth of food and drink including chicken karaage entre, skewered teriyaki beef, tofu and bacon wrapped prawn, lotus chips, plum sauce half roll and a half sunflower roll.
Tubby Eats
Food was fine but not amazing.  Super quick - we'd just ordered and within seconds our salmon salad arrived!<br/>Unfortunately whilst interesting-sounding, the fusion-type rolls we had all seemed a bit over-busy and confused in flavour.  Next time I'd stick with the more classic dishes like the excellent piping-hot karaage straight from the fryer!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, and today was the day as I was on my way to see a movie at Paradiso. I got a seat by the window and given the menu and tap water. I decided on the Foie Gras Nigiri which had seared Rougie duck foie gras imported from France and the scallop, and four pieces of Kirika Rolls topped with seared salmon and scallops, and a Riesling. Food and drinks came out really fast, which was perfect because I didn’t have a lot of time. I had the duck Foie Gras first and what a treat, so delicate almost like oysters with perfect smokey flavour. WOW! I loved this. The scallop rolls were good, but the duck was the stand out dish. I ordered another one because it was so good. Nice place with attentive service and food that is nicely presented.
Foodle
Quick service at the bar. Good quality food. Menu looked good - we had sushi, some karage chicken and some skewers. All was lovely. A bit expensive and wouldn't say the overall dining experience was excellent - all was a bit rushed and cramped. Good if you need to duck in and out
Whoisjoe
Great place. They offer besides the traditional sushi also vegan sushi and sushi with a twist - like sushi with bacon or chicken and plum souce. We tried a few of them and will be back to try more! Service was good too.

First time at Aisuru with my boyfriend, food came out SUPER QUICK & was very delicious ! , I love the Teriyaki Chicken, its the best i have tasted ! <br/>Food is Good size portions. I must say the fish on top of the sushi's are torched/lit which can leave a Unpleasant scent but its bearable. <br/>Overall i enjoyed the food & the customer service is very friendly , as soon as we finished and got up to leave, the waiters and chefs at the sushi train station greeted us goodbye ! <br/>We will definitely be back next time !
Leanne.c.bird
Came for lunch,    they brought my friends meal out, and I sat there for 10 minutes before having to ask where mine was (they forgot about me) came out and it was very dry Teriyaki chicken  - worst I have ever eaten .   Will not go back.

AVOID... the worst sushi in perth. avoid it like a plague. we went there as the other restaurant was full Ordered a few sushis and they tasted like ***t. The sushis were not fresh, the ingredients used like a month old (smelly tuna, frozen chicken, discoloured mayonnaise etc) and ended up paying $110 for 2 people for six serves of sushi plates...wth dude, i dont mind paying that price if the sushi justify the price
Trish Thornton
Loved this place. Innovative dishes, fresh and tasty. BYO which is rare for such a place, low corkage fee. Nice service and handy location!
Weio7
Paid over $100 for 2, came home with empty stomach, not worth for the quality they served, will never visit again.<br/>I don't understand why people go there, the reason I was there because James Parker was full, and I would rather spend my dollar at James Parker or Nobu
Renato
Good food but not amazing. The teriyaki chicken was delicious and so too was the salmon and avocado salad. The rest of the meal was generally good but expensive for the quality.
Ming Teh
Hands down the best, most consistent restaurant in Perth! I've been travelling through Japan and didn't manage to find anything better.  Would highly recommend!

Been here a few times yes the sushi is sooooo amazing it's fresh and the presentation is nice but it is expensive but def try this place out staff are nice too good service
Joan H
Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Loved it! Amazing vegan options. I got the veganpiller roll and edamame and they were both to die for. Will definitely be back.
Liv
Amazing food and a really interesting menu - the most inventive Japanese in Perth. <br/><br/>Highlights: sweet corn tempura, dynamite roll, spider roll, beef tataki. Big points for the vegan section of the menu, as it means I can always bring vegan friends here for dinner and everyone loves their meal!
SweetPoison
Sushi is beautifully presented. Sashimi/tataki- small portions for price you pay and def not melt in your mouth. Servers attentive and fast service.
Vinh Kim
Not good at all, the sushi rolls are just normal, salmon sashimi made me disappointed. The James Parker sake and sushi is more ways better. A bit expensive too, I don't mind to spend much for the food I love but it made me felt like not worth the price. Wont be here again.
Linda
I love eating at Aisuru. The staff are always super friendly and the food is unbelievably tasty and fresh. They have a large range of vegan options available and they're definitely worth trying, even if you're an omnivore.
Jade Buys Lemons
Quality Japanese food which is a quite overpriced. I'm not too sure what is the price for Japanese restaurants in Perth, but it is definitely cheaper in Sydney.<br/><br/>We ordered the Agedashi Tofu, Miss Aisuru Salad, Creamy Popcorn Shrimp, Chicken Karaage Entrée, Salmon Sashimi, Scallop Nigiri, Small Tank Roll, Small Spider Roll, 2 x Green Tea and a Miso Soup. This cost $117 in total, some dishes I can justify paying the listed menu price and some I definitely wouldn't order for that price again.<br/><br/>The scallop nigiri was well done, the scallops were fresh but these 2 small nigiri pieces were $12..!!! This would only cost $3-6 in a Sydney Japanese restaurant. When I initially saw the price, I was expecting the scallops to be 3-4 times the size than the actual one that arrived.<br/><br/>The Miss Aisuru Salad and Creamy Popcorn Shrimp were my favourite dishes, and also think these dishes were worth the listed price in the menu. The Karaage Chicken looked really dark and fried, but the chicken was very well cooked and moist on the inside.<br/><br/>Overall, Aisuru Sushi provides quality, fresh food. I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for best value, but the food is good and I recommend if you need your Japanese fix in the heart of the city of Perth.
InMyFaceHole
Have had lunch here twice now. The food is fresh, tasty, well priced and arrives really quickly but the staff are equally quick to take your plate away which makes you feel a bit rushed. I had a few different fried things today and the combination of it all is a little heavy. I would recommend something fried and some fresh sushi rolls to balance it out.
Queen Charlene
Warm sake was nice (can't remember which one we ordered), the sushi was nice but maybe slightly too expensive. Maybe it's the premium for the location, an otherwise nice place to eat for small groups of friends otherwise I would stick to cheaper sushi like Taka's.
Priscilla Low
Superb foie gras & scallop sushi! Good sake selection n convenient location. Great value. Friendly and efficient service. Highly recommended and definitely head back
Michael Lwin
Expensive. Bad quality sushi. Small portion. None authentic Japanese food. Waste of money. Must say that this place is a tourist trap. It looks nice from the outside but nothing worth highlighting in this review.<br/><br/>I went there because of the positive reviews. However, it seems that they are all paid reviewed. My recommendation is go somewhere else.
Mary
I'm always really impressed by the service at Aisuru, and I love the food here. As a vegetarian it's hard to find good sushi, Aisuru does an amazing job. Their vegan sushi is delicious and so is the miss Aisuru salad. I can't eat sushi anywhere else as I've been too spoiled by the wonderful quality at Aisuru!
LittleGirlBigFood
I like this place. But def not a healthy jap joint. So much for clean eating lol. Delicious though. I'll stick to traditional from now on however
Gabrielle Trenbath
A nice little place that does a good range of sushi. It is well placed as somewhere to eat before a show at PICA/STC. <br/><br/>I loved their warm saki
Liz Packwood
This is the most amazing sushi I have ever eaten. They have the most wonderful sushi creations in a casual yet restaurant atmosphere in the heart of Northbridge. Yes it is worth paying a little more for absolute perfection!!
Melimelo3
ambience is really nice. in the middle of northbridge. & a nice selection if different sushi rolls etc. also, has a whole menu list of vegan sushis and i likes that there was the option of just half a roll. but to be honest, even though the sushi was decent, it seemed a bit over prices. a four piece vegan roll (as in picture) was about $9, & they werent very big pieces. more of a sushi/nigiri bar place, with some meat skewers. but not a very big selection of salads (all salads had lots of toppings/ingredients), might just be my oicky taste. but thats my opinon. otherwise quite ok.
Dengbuyao
taste was so good,She was very kin of lotus chips and apple sushi, anyway we were in great mood of eating experince。<br/>Will back deal next time
King Kunta
Another awesome meal and once again the staff were extremely respectful, friendly and welcoming. Had a glass of the sleeping dog, a miso soup and shared a chicken katsu, a miss aisuru salad and a large kirika roll. All dishes were prompt, well presented, fresh and delicious. Was left happy and very full at the end of the meal. $70 for 2 people was excellent value and will definitely be back.
Caryser
Not impressed at all. <br/>Had heard this place was great but it did not live up to expectation at all. Food was overpriced for the measly quantity and the meals did not come out together so I didn't even get my dish until my husband had already finished his meal. <br/>The quality of the food although presented well enough was seriously average.<br/><br/>Music choice was poor. <br/>Staff were friendly and smiling but it seemed chaotic. Won't be going back again :/ <br/><br/>Wony
Cassie
One of the more expensive places to eat sushi. The sushi is nicely presented and there are different types of sushi options available which makes for a nice change over the usual teriyaki, California roll etc. However, I still prefer Mr Munchies sushi.
Alex Dimov
A Saturday night that you feel like eating healthy is a rare thing. Nothing however beats nice, fresh Japanese food for something a little on the light side. <br/><br/>I've honestly never been to a Japanese place quite like Aisuru before. They play there own Japanese covers of songs, they are all very welcoming and the service is so fast as well as the food. The kitchen is open to watch the goodness made freshly and there is enough space to seat at least 35-40 people. <br/><br/>We order miso soup to start our taste buds which, you can never go wrong with. <br/><br/>Next we shared Teriyaki Tofu, Creamy Popcorn Prawns, Plum Flower Sushi Roll and Dynamite Sushi Roll.<br/><br/>The tofu and creamy prawns came quickly after the miso soup but straight after came the two sushi dishes. <br/><br/>Tofu was cooked perfectly, slightly warmed with soy dressing. I easily could of ordered 2-3 for just my main but I had to switch it up.<br/><br/>Creamy Popcorn Prawns were perfectly cooked also, it literally melted in your mouth more and more with every bite. There was 5 prawns that came out on the plate, perfect to share. <br/><br/>Now another great thing about Aisuru is the portion sizes were really well done. Have you ever tried to eat sushi that was so big, with chopping sticks, and it looks so awkward eating, half of it falls out of your mouth, etc. you will have no problem here. You grab a piece of sushi and just put it whole in your mouth, leaving no mess! <br/><br/>To the sushi. We alternated between this as one sushi dish, the plum flower, was more refreshing than the other, the dynamite. The reason being, the dynamite had really strong chilli sauce and cooked tuna so the sushi was quite thick overall and the plum flower, which btw was teriyaki chicken wrapped with egg instead of seaweed, was not as heavy and very light, it was pleasant finishing the meal off with the Plum Flower as if we just order the Dynamite it would have been really filling and sickening - not tasting too fresh. <br/><br/>I rarely this quite highly as I wasn't expecting to be amazed when I walked into the door and sat down but I was completely wrong. If you enjoy good sushi then I would recommend coming to eat here.
AngMohAsian
Solid high quality sushi with plenty of variety. I wouldn't say all of it is authentic, but it was definitely enjoyable, especially the soft shell crab. The corn tempura was really run and delicious, a dish you don't see everyday, definitely one to share among your dining partners. <br/><br/>I took my younger side of the family here for my cousins family and was treated very well. I highly recommend this for a more upmarket sushi experience.
Kermit
I've been to the subiaco one, thought I'd stop by here and try this one tonight. Menu is pretty good. A lot of sushi to choose from. If u like let say tuna, they cater to that by providing you with 5 different types of sushi all containing tuna. Foods is fresh and well presented. Service is good. Price- a little on the expensive side. 8 pcs of grilled salmon $20. All in all, not too bad.
Aburi Salmon Nigiri 5eva
My favourites are the dynamite roll, the grilled salmon roll, and the salmon nigiri seared with eel sauce (though it's pretty pricey here compared to other Japanese restaurants so I try not to get nigiri here). The staff are very friendly, the manager rewards loyalty (whenever he sees me he gives me a friends and family discount) and you get to watch the chefs make your sushi if you sit at the bar. This is a fantastic place to go for fusion sushi. (is that what it's called? Is that a thing?)
Sakura Chan
I am a Japanese national and recently visited the restaurant with 5 people for dinner at about 20:30 on Tuesday night. 3 of us ordered the same sushi cuisine, 8 pieces of Kirika roll ($23), but only 2 arrived. We waited for 10 minutes. Nothing happened. We called a waitress and reminded her that we were waiting one more plate. We waited for further 10 minutes. Nothing happened. We called the waitress and asked her again. She said that it's after the last order time and they didn't have enough sushi rice for 8 pieces and they could only make 4 pieces ($12.50). My generous friend accepted it and after all he paid for the alternative, that he didn't order. I was not happy at all. A customer pays good money for a quality of food, presentation and SERVICES. The restaurant shouldn't have to charge him at all. Also, they should carefully monitor the customers in the restaurant whether they are happy or not. They should offer water or at least ask the customers if they want to have some water when taking orders. When we were eating, a waitress came to serve water, but realised that we didn't have glasses in front of us because we didn't ask for water when ordered. The waitress left in spite that I asked for the water. I was ignored. It's definitely NOT the authentic Japanese restaurant in terms of food and the customer service.  I won't go back.

Haven't been to Aisuru in awhile so we decided to go there for lunch. Was able to just walk in and be seated immediately (I think we came in just after the lunch rush at 1pm?).<br/><br/>The staff were really friendly and took our orders. I don't think we even waited that long before our dishes came streaming out, one after another. The food was great, we had a couple of sushis, sashimi and a few hot dishes. The only downer was that I had to ask for water 3 times to the same waitresses that were hovering near our table, other than that, it was great.<br/><br/>I think Aisuru is a great once in a while place to eat, the food is great but it's also on the pricey side. They do set lunch menus as well as their normal menu, I only wished they had like a mixed platter (that's not a catering sized order) that you could choose from as they had a wide variety of sushi that I wouldn't have mind trying.
StillDiscoveringFood
Went for lunch and ordered the Chicken Karaage Lunch set for $15.5, Torch Roll for $20 and Sweet Corn Tempura for $10.50. The lunch set and torch roll was delicious and would order again but the sweet corn tempura was such a disappointment. I remember the batter being light and crispy, this time however it was heavy and soggy. Overall it's not the cheapest Japanese sushi joint out there but it does have quick service.
Pollo_pesce_me
If you are looking for a traditional Japanese this isn't the restaurant for you. Matter of fact it's death by sauce, unlike Japanese food where the delicate balance of flavor, the subtlety of texture and freshness are the measure. This place take the spirits of Japanese food and beats it to death with sauce and goop. On the east side of Australia it wouldn't have last a month special in Melbourne or Sydney. 5 deep fried prawns with half ounce of sauce is $17.5, no raw tuna is available - all tuna is cooked and the salmon cuts are a joke. The only thing this place is going for is - good fast service and nice decor and the ambiance. If you are in the mood for Mac-sushi then you can give it a go.
Michelle
This is the original Aisuru, and it getting popular enough to open up a second shows how good it is. The staff are always friendly, and the food is wonderful, and not too expensive. There's a good selection (though I inevitably tend to gravitate towards the same things - chicken and prawns). The tomato and bacon yakitori is tasty.
Eroshaforevereating
Absolutely love Aisuru! Their menu is interesting and some of their dishes have some great flavour combinations. The cheeseburger one is out of this world and worth a try. Or two. This place is always generally busy, though the staff always make you feel welcome and regardless of when I go, I have never been turned away. Can't recommend this place enough. The Northbridge one is as good if not better then their Subiaco location.
ITADAKiMASU
I've been to the Subi one and loved it so thought to give this a try with NB being a bit closer. My my my we weren't disappointed. Presentation-wise, everything looked immaculate. The beautiful colour of the ingredients, structure of each dish was perfection. <br/><br/>Service was good too with friendly and polite staff that even apologised when they cleared some plates just because they were reaching over my shoulder. As soon as the dish was finished, the plate was gone (but never before). <br/><br/>Taste-wise, it was delicious with my only critic being the lingering taste of butane from the torched grilled salmon sushi. However, it was still tasty and the theatre was worth it. I loved being able to see them prepare the food. Great experience, worth every cent.
Inexology
First time I went to Aisuru was two years ago and back then the signature dish was the crispy Sweet Corn Tempura. It's good to see how people are still ordering this as a starter. <br/><br/>Since it was only the two of us, we opted for the 4 piece sample sets instead of the full roll. We enjoyed all three kushiyaki that we ordered especially the tender beef. If the price is cheaper than $16 for 3 meat kushiyaki, we will definitely order more. <br/><br/>The dining room decoration is very minimal in the form of white walls and their signature blue lights. As you walk in, the staff will greet you and you can see a long and narrow bench that patrons can sit on while waiting for their seats. If you come in a group of 2 or 4, try to ask for a table in front of the kitchen to see some of the action in the kitchen and experience the business of izakaya-style sushi place.
Foodaaliy
The restaurant appears to be quite upmarket, and you would expect to pay slightly higher prices for this Japanese cuisine. However..we were still starving when we left, hardly value for money. They have an extensive Entree list of dishes but not enough larger size size portions that would satisfy an empty stomach. I'm sure they may get quite a turnover in customers in that location but I don't imagine they would have many returning. <br/>Personally, for me to return I would suggest:<br/>*Offer more Main size portions (which will also keep the high number of kitchen staff busy)<br/>*Improve customer service <br/>*Get some genuine Japanese tea - not teabags<br/>*The concept of an open kitchen is great, but pointless if there is no energy in the room. For a busy night, there were many staff still standing around.

Well, I don't mind paying high prices for quality. Service was good and prompt prices are very high for very small serves. I'd say the Beef Filet Mignon entrée the as served way too chilled, and 60 grams of beef for $10 is simply too much, and served so chilled you could barely taste it. Scallop Nigiri was okay but not great, scallops were small with a slight aftertaste that Hanami's scallops don't have. Salmon Nigiri was the best but again very dainty serves, but very hefty prices. Again, dainty is fine if the price isn't ridiculous. Prices here work out to double that of Hanami if you consider the small portions.

Really enjoyed this place - had a few menu items but the standout for me was probably the most simple - the salmon and avo salad. Really fresh (as was all the food) full of flavour and a generous serving size. <br/><br/>The service was a bit hap-hazard but it was slightly busy when we ate. <br/><br/>Will return.

Had ordered the katsu lunch set and chicken teriyaki, scallop roll ( forgot what it's called ), soft shell crab and 2 plates of sashimi; tuna and salmon.<br/>The soft shell crab dish was amazing, teriyaki chicken was a little over flavoured, lunch set was yummy but feel like I can get a same lunch set at is Donburi for a better price. <br/>The sashimi was the disappointment for this restaurant. Could not believe that we paid $10.50 for 5 pieces of sashimi. This restaurant is over priced and rushed to order things.<br/>But got to admit that the scallop roll and soft shell crab is a highlight.

This place looks a lot nicer from the outside than inside. Food wise I wasn't impressed by anything we had gotten but they weren't terrible. We ordered the karrage chicken which although had a good flavour I was put off that they weren't crunchy :/ we ordered the black velvet roll, spider roll, plum flower roll, sunset boulevard roll and samurai James. The sunset boulevard was probably my favourite but nothing special. The plum flower roll and samurai James was quite bland in terms of flavour. I felt the wasabi Mayo was a weird addition to the spider roll and just like the karrage they soft shell crab was soft and not crunchy. <br/><br/>Not a overly bad experience but I would probably go else where for better sushi one of the wait staff was really nice and some others were not.

Lots of variety to choose from. The tank roll is best. Specials lunch menu as well which is not bad priced. Gotta watch out on flies, one got into our sushi while they were making, got replaced immediately
Truth Inc.
Crazily over priced! Yes the location and fit out is terrific but for the price the end product wasn't up to scratch and the staff are very bossy and rush you to order because of the busy nature of the restaurant. There's no time to relax and enjoy your experience, which is a big let down and doesn't live up to the hype :(
Foodology
Great tasty sushi rolls. I would recommend the philli roll containing Philadelphia cheese and charred salmon and dragon roll with a tempura prawn topped with Eel.

OVERPRICED AND TASTELESS. I visited Aisuru over a year and a half ago and loved it! Great atmosphere, tasty japanese and very nice staff. I told my partner that we should go for dinner because last time was such a great experience... not this time. We ordered the Plum Flower Roll and Salmon Sashimi... Can I first say that 5 thin slices of salmon for $11 is ridiculous?<br/><br/>As I am a chef and I cook Japanese on the regular, it isn't hard to make sure that your teryiaki chicken is full of tasty flavor and moist. The Plum Flower Roll had dry, tasteless chicken and an excessive amount of rice (trying to save $?) I was literally over chewing... It was gross (nothing worse than struggling to swallow down food on date night). It wasn't very fresh. I could buy the same from my local supermarket, pre-packaged and stale. I expected better from qualified chef's. <br/><br/>It's such a shame, looks can be deceiving... You won't see me here again.

This evening, I took the American to my favourite Japanese restaurant in WA- Aisuru Sushi. Aisuru Sushi is located in the heart of Northbridge on the intersection of James and William Street.<br/>The American left tonight’s order in my hands so I took the liberty of ordering a combination of dishes that I knew we would both enjoy and share together. When our waitress came over to take our order on her iPad, I ordered us Miso Soup to start, followed by Salmon Sashimi served with a side of wasabi. From here we had the Chicken Karaage – marinated and fried tender chicken thigh, topped with slices of sweet tamago egg, and drizzled with spicy mayonnaise sauce on a bed of white rice. Our final dish was the Ultimate Philli Roll. This incredible looking sushi was smooth cream cheese and crisp cucumber wrapped in nori and shari, topped with seared salmon and sliced red onions, drizzled with mayonnaise and unagi eel sauce, and spinkled with shichimi togarashi flakes. This sushi was honestly amazing, by far the best I’ve ever tasted.
Shymron
NOT WORTH IT!. Ordered 3 different types of sushi all overpriced for what was served. Tasteless, small servings and the waitress had some B.O! Much better Japanese food across the road at Is Donburi.
❤️
Worth a trip for the signature dishes, but let down by the standard Japanese fare.. As lovers of Japanese cuisine, we regularly visit Aisuru when in Northbridge. Their signature sushi rolls are delicious and unusual, the plum flower roll and Baconator being our favourites. The tempura corn is also a 'must try' and is insanely moreish.<br/>The more token Japanese dishes on the menu (i.e. Vegetable tempura, teriyaki beef/chicken, yakitori, katsu etc) are rather lacklustre by comparison and not worth your time. <br/>Go to the cheap-but-fantastic Takas for your standard Japanese but if you're after something different definitely visit Aisuru for delicious speciality sushi, excellent service and a comfortable atmosphere.<br/>Initially I was let down by the green tea (served as a tea bag a cup), but then I remind myself how much I curse drippy teapots and how promptly my cup was refilled with hot water- so they quickly redeemed themselves on that front.<br/>We will be back (for the plum flower rolls and tempura corn!)
Daniel
Great. I like the variety and the atmosphere is great. Cheaper places are around but we find Aisuru to be the better option
Phoebe-kate-89
Rubbish. Usually we like this place - however our recent experience was AWFUL. Everything we ordered was dry, tasteless and unapealing. Highly disappointing service to boot.
Brad Harrows
Was really let down. The food was ok but my plate was filthy like it hadn't been washed properly?! We were served by the owner who was extremely arrogant and rude to customers who paid over $100!
Wayne420
Really enjoyed dinner here. Plenty of choice so great for people who aren't massive sushi lovers. Do agree with a previous review that the prawn and bacon yakitori was way to salty. Chicken karagee is the best!!!!
Pennae
14 Aug, 2016<br/>Went back recently with fond memories but unfortunately was let-down. The bacon sushi was nowhere near as generous and the tempura soggy. Maybe another chance?<br/><br/>17 Jan, 2015<br/>Bacon sushi! What a revelation! We shared a selection of sushi and tempura dishes here and I thoroughly enjoyed each one. The only let down was that the green tea ($3.50) was simply a tea bag in a cup (with unlimited hot water refills). A pot of leaf tea would have been nice.
Rochelle010190
Too pricy. The food was average , we had the beef tataki the other day and it was tooooo salty!!!! We cant even eat it....and the price is too expensive.
Paul Hodson
Food was great but waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too pricey. I picked a few meager things off the menu and stopped when I got to $29. left still hungry ;( .
Remedy
Quick lunch. Walked in around 1:30pm and was immediately greeted and seated by the staff. <br/>Chose the teriyaki beef, rice and miso soup ($15.50) - thought it was pretty good value and the service was very attentive.
HB
Great food. Huge variety of well presented & great tasting sushi. Simple but comfortable environs. A bit overpriced but worth the visit.
Heshe93
Overly sweet .... I mean the food, not the waitstaff!. He: Good place to people watch as we sat at the alfresco area. The service team perhaps need to be trained? The busy waitstaff seemed to look straight through you! Food is really mediocre. <br/><br/>She: Overly sweet teriyaki. Over cooked chicken. Over-use of mayo. Over rated. <br/><br/>Rate: 6/10
Joy
YUM :D. Yummy and happy customers. Definitely do order the grilled salmon rolls, super delicious ! Best sushi I've ever had, though a little pricey but worth it. The black velvet rolls are pretty nice too :) Would come back again ~
Ango
Disappointed. Soft shell crab was cooked with thick and heavy batter, not the traditionally light batter. <br/>Unagi slightly burnt and not consistently cut for each sushi.<br/>Sushi rolls were rolled too hard with rice all clumped into a blob. <br/><br/>P.s. Green Tea was good though.
Jasmine
Waitress had nice service and sweet smile. I went to Aisuru NB with my friends on friday night, all I can said is.......AMAZING!!! All the waitress had sweet smile and very nice service, we had a great night though. BTW because night time was very busy we waitIn' for our dishes for awhile, the girl manager name is Zona comes to apologise us, in the end she still care about how's meal after and care about how we feel, It's really warm heart and make all my friends and me feel very friendly with her, I'll def come back again!!!
Erika
Not what it used to be. Terrible service (even on a quiet Monday night) and a dirty venue. The quality of food has rapidly gone downhill, perhaps to do with the second restaurant opening. What a disappointment.
Deborah Archer
Lovely lunch fresh and clean tastes. Love this food just not so sure about the music
Trixytrax
We won't be back!. Walking up to the restaurant it looks fantastic. I love watching our food being made, and this place has a great area in the front of the premises where you can dine watching your food being prepared. As we walked in we were not offered a seat (despite there being many available) in this area, instead we were rushed to the far back dingy corner. My husband and I sat at a tiny table, literally about a foot away from the toilet door. The corner smelled mildewy and the shabby wall next to us was marked and had plaster and paint was falling off it. Our plans for dinner in a romantic restaurant came crashing to the floor!<br/>We eat out at different Japanese restaurants at least once or twice a week, and found this one comparatively expensive. The food was pleasant, and to be honest we would probably return often if it was better priced and we were not seated in a substandard area. It is a shame as they seem to have good chefs and could be good. We won't be back.
Sunny Li
It used to be one of my favorite restaurant in Perth but not anymore. when they just opened 2 years ago, serve was quite big. And now is smaller and smaller... A bit disappoint honestly. But still taste good!!
Chelseamclare
Rude staff good food. We dropped in lateish (8.45pm) on a Tuesday night and was rushed through to make our order as kitchen was closing...that was fine...but whilst still eating our food we were sprayed with windex as the waitress was very keen to close up and get out....because of this it was annoying to be paying the price we did and feel so unwelcome....would hesitate to come again....
Live2Eat
Super Sushi. Go here often, the rainbow roll and dynamite rolls are great whilst the corn with truffle mayo is mildly indulgent. I do find it really bright inside but this is just because I wear sunglasses too much :)
Jesseca
Enjoyed it!. Came with a friend last night - ordered quite a few dishes including the tempura Wagyu beef, the plum roll, tempura corn, soft shell crab salad and a few others. Enjoyed the dishes - especially loved the popcorn creamy shrimp and the seared salmon nigiri. The waitress recommended two sakes for us to try as well which I quite enjoyed. Only downside was the waitress must've been new because I pretty much had to point out and slowly repeat everything I ordered so she could jot it down for our order. Other than that had a good time and enjoyed the food, would return.
Baristar
Delicious. Very tasty sushi. tried the dynamite and the salmon roll. yum! bit pricy but very good quality of food. <br/>service is outstanding and fast.
Diner
Spot on. Good location with great service. Attentive and polite waitstaff with an efficient and clean kitchen. Food was superb. Will definitely be going back!
Fleur
Not really worth it... The food is nice, but there is nothing that makes it worth that much more (Maybe the location...) A few different places in Perth can make the same standard of fusion sushi for much cheaper.
Melissa452001
Aisuru sushi. Been here once quality of good is good all fresh only complaint is the price good gosh what is it made out of gold?? Lol .... Other than that would love to go back
Stingray
Didn't want to like it... But I did!. Went to Aisuru for dinner after Is Donburi was full. Didn't want to like it... Always thought it was expensive for sushi, but it was really good sushi, small serving but very unique and tasty... Yes will be going back!
Yann Chan
We came here on a Friday evening and it was packed. We ordered sweet corn tempura ,it was so delicious and we loved the wagyu beef nigiri as well. But it was a bit pricey for a small dish.
Jessica Farquhar
Too expensive for small meals. Came here for lunch the other day and would have been better off spending my money elsewhere.<br/><br/>Most of the lunch menu items are $15.50 which is $5 more expensive than most of its competitors around the same area. To make up for this, you'd think either the quality would be superb or the meal sizes would be large, however that wasn't the case. The food was really average and the meal sizes were tiny, so if you eat normal people size food then don't come here. I would have been satisfied paying $5 for the meal but not $10 and definitely not $15! The atmosphere isn't great either. The floor had been ripped up in one section of the restaurant.<br/><br/>The waitresses were in general nice but I felt like the one who served us was spending too much time trying to figure out how to use the app on her iPad instead of listening to what I actually wanted. I had to call her back to the table to confirm and fortunately we figured out she had ordered me the wrong dish before it had been brought out to me. <br/><br/>So yeah, avoid the place because there's better stuff in the area. I'd suggest Poppo's in the CBD for similar food with bigger quantities and a smaller price tag.
Lisa Knight
LOVE IT!. By far the tastiest sushi I've ever eaten. As a vegetarian, the vegan menu is amazing, so many flavour combinations. I love tapas style dining and this place is excellent for sharing lots of different dishes. Completely recommend the tempura corn and the vegan rolls (can't recommend just one, they are all amazing!).
Emily
Best service in Perth (apart from Nobu.) the staff are outstanding, I can't sing their praises high enough. Attentive, helpful, they don't hover, they always double check your order to avoid confusion.....foods unreal, cater to vegans, fresh and quick. Am from the east coast and have been very disappointed by Perth's standard of food, hospitality service and prices. Aisuru sushi is fantastic.
Alexandra Stewart
Delicious sushi, worth the 20 minute wait for a table! Can't fault this place, absolutely loved it!
Hungry Sumo
Food and service are quite good but the price is very high for the small servings.
Claire
Brilliant service, fantastic atmosphere and exquisite food!
Sooz
Delicious. Fresh. The BACON sushi was the best! And that's coming from females.
Tate Napier
Amazing vegan options!!! Staff very friendly...super quick service if you are looking for a bite between shows. Totally recommend sitting at the bar..it's where the magic happens.
Hungerpangs
Pretty good depending on your order. Ate lunch here today and having previously dined in this restaurant, we knew we would enjoy the food.<br/><br/>Ordered the plum rolls with teriyaki chicken, tempura prawn rolls with seared tuna, philly rolls, agadashi tofu, popcorn prawns and the tempura corn salad. Green tea ice cream to finish (shared). The food was served quickly and looked appetising.<br/><br/>The first initial mouthfuls were enjoyable and then disappointingly, the flavours all began to merge together. The problem is the food is overdressed with the same creamy mayonnaise and it's all too overpowering. The salad has so much dressing throughout, the popcorn prawns are battered and completely drenched in the creamy dressing and the flavour of the prawns is completely lost because of this. The agadashi tofu is ok but the batter is far too thick and overcooked. The tempura prawns are nice but then again, the same dressing is piped over the food masking the flavour of the sushi. We enjoyed the plum rolls because they were simple and the flavours could be appreciated.<br/><br/>All up at $74 (including a D.Coke) it was pricey for a lunch that my sister and I only rated as ok. I would return here but choose the plain options and maybe go with a group of people. I think if you just had a 'sample'/small portion of each dish, it would be much more enjoyable.
Chef God
OMG this place is heaven .. Words which I can't express enough in the field provided.... Just go be the judge urself im a chef and I will make this my NO.1 destination just for Japanese food !!
Dennis
I like Here beautiful Sushi .good service!!!
Coffee Lover
Always amazing
Kanecel
Good food but expensive food.. I can definatly say this is great sushi, best i have ever had but i guess that came at a price, literally. for the tiny portions of deliciousness the prices were pretty extreme. i had the soft crab salad and salom roll, it was great but didnt even fill me :( id say you need at least $50 for yourself to eat here.
Charis
Loved everything abt it :) <br/>A tad pricey but def worth every cent for the freshness and quality. Yum-o!
Ken
Good first impressions!. Overall the food and service was very nice. I will be back!
B
Ai-love-u. Tastes good! Plum sauce mmmmmmm.............. I like it here. (Better than Mr. Munchies)
Karis Graham
Amazing!! best sushi iv ever had can't wait to go back
Food_Whisperer
Aisuru sushi has become one of my all time favourite restaurants in perth! The food and the variety of sushi is amazing! Everything tastes so fresh and delicious. Even though it is a bit pricey, it is definitely worth it! The staff were very nice and friendly as well! Also the wait for the food was relatively short considering how many people there were seated. But due to the small interior of the restaurant, groups larger than 4-5 may be a problem. So although the interior is pretty small, the food was amazing!!! Definitely recommend this place!
Tarryn Audas
Best sushi in Perth! Made fresh in front of you by clean experienced chefs. Amazing!!!
Senor Sanchez
Great sushi. Great fresh made sushi, reasonable prices, fantastic service and plenty of options on the menu. Never disappointed.
IMONGRY
Although the restaurant was literally about to close as we stepped in the door the staff were very friendly and more than accommodating. The service to follow was excellent also.<br/><br/>As far as the sushi goes it was all very well received the only negative that I can possibly think of is that the majority of the dishes we ordered were swimming in Japanese Mayonnaise. I understand it’s all for presentation and yes it does look good but there is a point where it becomes too much. Unfortunately this was an instance where less is more as the mayonnaise flavour took away from all other elements in the dishes.<br/><br/>The standout dish was the Spider Roll.<br/><br/>Will definitely return but with the request of Mayo on the side... not sure how that’ll go down?
Tiffany
Love it! Best sushi out there ! A bit pricey but just delicious !!
Clare Edwards
Great! Went there for a quick bday dinner with our young toddler and wonderful service and all the staff were happily waving back to my daughter much to her delight so we all enjoyed our night. Delicious food. Would recommend.
Foodlover17
Food wasnt that great at all, didnt really enjoy any of my dishes. Wouldn't recommend!
Vikki
Loved this place! Beautiful food and great service, definatly recommend Aisuru Sushi!
Henry McAlpine
I work in hospitality and can understand a busy dinner shift, however this evening was hardly anything to stress about. I had to ask the waitress for menus after waiting ten minutes for someone to see us. After finally getting them we then waited 15 minutes to get an order taken. By this stage 3 waitresses had walked passed our table and not one of them thought to come and see if we were ok. I decided enough was enough and walked in to hand back the menus. Letting the girl know in a polite manner our situation to a response of "thank you!" Horrible service. I will not go back
Why123
Decent but overpriced. Been there a couple of times. Atmosphere and service was good. Food was decent, but quite pricey compared to other Japanese restaurants in Perth. Went there for lunch and ordered a chicken katsu curry; chicken was yum but rice was gluggy and not appetising. Would go back, but not anytime soon unless the prices are lowered.
AMayzing
Went to heaven and back. What a wonderful place. There is nothing to complain about the food. Each and every time I went, the food has always been great. If you do decide to go on the weekend, there will be quite a wait but trust me, it is worth it! The waitresses are very friendly as well.<br/>I have brought so many friends there that they have nothing to say but praises.<br/>The atmosphere there is very nice too. It can be a bit cramped sitting at the bar but once the food is served, you will forget about the wait and the cramped place.<br/>You also won't need to wait very long after you order. Food arrived very quickly.
Pink_Tulips
Won't be running back..... After being highly recommended to try Aisuru, our visit was rather disappointing. <br/><br/>Service was friendly and efficient, but the food was OK only at best. <br/><br/>We ordered the non crabstick sushi rolls that looked pretty when served, but were overladen with sauce which was all we could taste. <br/><br/>The corn tempura and torched salmon nigiri were tasty dishes, but did little to un-do the lingering taste from the sushi rolls' sauce.
Summer
I have been there few times for dinner, everything was excellent but when I went there for lunch.. It was really bad service. Waitress push us too much to finished it all and we felt like that we should eat and leave.. Really bad..
Fat Freddy
The karage chicken was just deep fried chicken with what tasted like thousand island dressing. Expensive and overrated. Also 3% surcharge for payment by MasterCard.
Applestrudel
Delicious. My husband loves this sushi place and keep nagging me to come back again try diff fresh sushi! :))
Lawhite
AMAZING SUSHI!!!!. This place has the yummiest sushi!!! Had the Plum Flower Roll... delish!!! Fresh and no greasy after taste.
Jlfrag
Food is delicious and fresh and love that they have a dedicated vegan section of the menu.
Mikoov22
Gross. How can they call this sushi? Its crap smothered in mayo. Their idea of 'premium' sushi involves crabstick. Seriously.
Boo You
Four of us went to dinner at aisuru last night there very rude service and they gave the table to the 4 people after us never going back there again
Melaustra
Yummy but lots of mayo. Firstly in regards to a review just below mine. $3 for the tea shocked me as well but then i realised they kept coming back and topping up with hot water, so really its a bottomless tea. which i think is alright.<br/><br/>The food in itself was really tasty, yummy and innovative dishes with quality ingredients. I love Japanese mayo, but i think the fact that everything had this mayo and i think i ordered a good 10 different dishes, it was too much. Thats the only bad point. So in fact i wasnt really food but just over the mayo so i didnt want to eat anymore. <br/><br/>I will definitely be back but i prob wont be back for a full dinner but more a light meal.
Bash
Do not go there. I escaped. <br/>$11.50 for salmon sushi. (Nigiri).<br/>$3.00 for hot green tea (teabag).<br/>I was so shocked I walked out. <br/>The waitress from Japan was even embarrassed when I asked why it was more expensive than what I'd eaten in other sushi places in Australia and even in Tokyo.<br/>Should be ashamed of putting that price on the food there. <br/>Anyone that goes there and knowingly pays for the food in agreement of it's value should be committed to a psychiatric facility.

I really like this place... Service was good and efficient... Good was great and tasty... I'll definitely come back...
Terrine De Lapin
I noticed in Subiaco yesterday that another Aisuru is opening soon at the old Siciliano Restaurant site. Can't wait.
Kailis
Brilliant place! Food is amaZing. Very tidy and veryyy tech savvy with waitresses ordering on ipads. Brilliant service.
Foodie101
Fantastic!. Went here for my birthday dinner with friends and really enjoyed it, the plum sauce sushi is incredible! What a great mix
Mate
Excellent experience. The sushi is presented beautifully and the service is probably the best I have experienced for a long time. The girls suggested some dishes, we ordered around 10 half potions of various dishes and all were excellent. BYO is a reasonable $2 pp and they were very quick to bring out more beer and wine when our glasses were empty.<br/>Will be back for sure.
Arrix F
Fantastic!. You get your moneys worth and the quality is great. All the food tasted amazing and the Sashimi was so soft and creamy. Food arrived quickly, dishes were cleared within minutes of being empty, tables cleaned and ready for the next customer almost instantly after previous customers left. Very efficient staff and wonderful food! Had a lovely night ^^
Anna T
Little gem. Think friendly, attentive service. Think big flavours from small, filling portions. Think green tea ice cream (drool) and sweet corn tempura that tastes like sunshine and you have Aisuru sushi. It was the highlight of my long and drab workday and I will be coming back again and again. You should visit.
Darren
Alright once in a while. The place is expensive, as you'd expect from a sushi restaurant.<br/>The food is reasonable, with some interesting flavours.<br/>The service is very attentive and efficient, bordering on intrusive (getting asked 3/4 times in 5 minutes whether we were ready to order was a little offputting).<br/><br/>Not where you'd go for a filling meal by any means, but it's worth a try if you eat like a sparrow.
Blackie
Fantastic food. Since disc.... Fantastic food. <br/>Since discovering this place I return weekly and never disappointed. <br/>Try the sweet corn tempura and for dessert banana split you will love it!!!
Arthur Dermawan
Average food, premium price. Average sushi, nice presentation but at an ample price. Its taste the same as the sushi you buy from the local deli sushi.
Dramarani
The food portions were small for the amount we paid. Quite disappointing actually, did not really live up to all the hype.
OnePointFive
First & (Maybe) Last. Ordered one entree & few different sushi: Tank, Spider & Sunset Beach Rolls. Descent portions, but in terms of taste, none really impressed me. Service was ok, but the waitresses were not that friendly. For same price but better quality, go to Bonsai or Poppo. They do awesome sushi...
BennieDarryl
Was excited to try it after long appearing in the Top 10 Hottest in Perth List, but was pretty disappointed with the experience. Poor service by a robot with no friendliness or smiling whatsoever. Was perplexed by the menu: who puts cheddar cheese on top of seared salmon? Why is there sundried tomato in there? WTF? Maybe I picked the wrong items, but my 3 rolls were far below standard for their inflated prices. Jaws and Mr. Munchies are significantly above this place with regard to service, finished product quality and affordability. If you're a Perth sushi lover, go to either of those establishments instead.
Emilie
YUM sushi and sashimi at decent prices!! lovely restaurant, was busy tho, waited about 20 minutes but definitely worth the wait!!Tip: ask the staff what they recommend because they know their stuff!!
Ben Lun
Nothing like Aisuru in Perth. We love the food and the friendly service here. Nothing like it in Perth. Fantastic sushi. I enjoyed this more than nobu.
Pandahunter
Big servings of salad, and great service. Loving this place at the moment. Came in there, ordered a salmon avocado salad expecting a giant plate full of emptiness and decoratory wank, but alas no! The plate was full of salad and freshness.<br/><br/>Really great service, finding the staff actually like doing their jobs - which is not typical of Perth.
Ringo
Soft shell crab. What a great dish and the salad that comes with fantastic have gone back three times and dish has not disappointed attentive floor staff aswell well done
Adam Del Borrello
All good.. Great, creative menu, good vibe, fast service. A little bit more pricey than usual sushi but then again, its not usual sushi. was super happy with my visit. will come back.
Trashglam
Fresh.. Its nice to see fresh sushi being prepared before your eyes.
Jannie
Ok food, but overpriced!!. Heard many great reviews about this place and wondered whether it really did live up to its hype so decided to dine here last night. <br/>My partner and I were disappointed when we ordered the Tempura Wagyu. The portions were tiny (approx. $15 for 2 pieces of thin sliced beef).<br/><br/>Would we return? Highly doubt it. Left with an empty stomach after paying good money. Overpriced and overhyped for what it is.
Kylie Butson
Tried this place after coming back from Japan and missing the food... Closest miso soup to traditional Japan the corn is great and the sushi is to die for, service is great and has a really funky vibe
Mr E
Average Food, Disappointed Service and Order System. I have read some reviews about Aisuru Sushi here before. We then picked a weeknight to visit Aisuru. <br/>Having been sitting down on the bar for a long while, finally a staff responded to our wave and came with her iPad to take order, but didn't know most of dishes on menu. <br/>When we went to pay for our bill, interestingly, there was no our bill and the staff denied about taking our order when the manager asked.<br/>Will I come back again? The answer is "NO".
Ben Law
Wow! First time today. Fresh and tasty. Costs a bit more than usual but worth it. The Wagyu tataki and Karage were our highlights!
PerthieGeorgie
Paying extra for the great sushi. This place has great sushi, really fresh with a little difference to the regular sushi you buy for lunch. It is all made to order right in front of you and you do pay a little extra but it is well worth it - really yum!
Alexander Hanssen
The sushi is quite pricey but you get what you pay for! Tastes amazing - especially some of their novelty sushi! Highly recommend if you're looking to give yourself a new experience.
Mark
Great vegetarian sushi options. There are a lots of vegetarian sushi options here. The food is delicious, but it's little bit to hard to get a sit. Iike the ideas of using a blow torch and french dressing in sushi, it gives a modern and western twist.
Foodlover
Great sushi at a good price. This place is awesome. Dinner or lunch, they make everything fresh right in front of you and the pricing is very reasonable! Its BYO and right in north bridge so close to bars etc if you are heading out after wards.<br/>I came here for a girls night and we ate SOO much!! including dessert, the bill came to $45 a head. Everything we ate was really tasty and fresh.<br/>Its a more westernised version of sushi than full on traditional japanese but its what I like and what mostly everywhere sells anyway. <br/>Give this place a try you wont be disappointed.
Harold Finders
Quality sushi. Enough said.
Devil's Advocate
This is one of those places that has always looked really awesome whenever you walk past it. After a spur if the moment decision with a few friends we decided we would give this place a try.<br/><br/>Without a booking we had about a 15-20min wait which wasn't too be for a Saturday night. And we weren't the only ones waiting either. Don't get me wrong, there's a reason why people are waiting to eat at this place.<br/><br/>There is a fair amount to choose from the menu and it ALL looks good. My only suggestion perhaps, would be to have a sample selection?<br/><br/>The food we did order was absolutely amazing. You can't question the freshness of its preparation either because they're making it right in front of you.<br/><br/>We ordered several dishes and all of them were great but there was one SPECIFIC dish that we ordered that (for me) was a standout. <br/><br/>The Dragon Roll. Of the food that we had THIS was the best one, and they even used a blowtorch to char grill some of the fish to give it a crispy texture!! <br/><br/>They also had what appeared to be some kind of dessert sushi / tempura with fruit in it. I will definitely be going back to find out what that is because it looked REALLY good.<br/><br/>All up, it cost about $120 for three people (~ $40 each) which is a lot more than what is usually spend on dinner BUT this place would be one of those places where you'd go for those special occasion dinners. <br/><br/>I really enjoyed the dinner here and getting to see the meal get prepared right in front of you was a bit of a novelty.<br/><br/>I personally would classify this as more of a dining "experience" than just a "restaurant".<br/><br/>My advice / recommendation: It's probably a bit too pricey for me to be a regular but it's definitely somewhere I would love to come back to for those special occasion dinners.<br/><br/>I now need to go look through my calendar for any special occasions that I may have coming up.

Gone downhill. I have been a loyal customer of Aisuru since it opened. However, lately the standard has declined. The sushi was very badly rolled, cut on an angle, with gaps between the fillings. Not only that, but the salmon had a long strip of grey fat that was impossible to chew! It was really disgusting. I told the staff and they tried to argue with me, telling me that the fish was fresh. It may be fresh but it is VERY POOR QUALITY. It would be unacceptable in Japan. The tempura prawns were covered in a thick greasy batter which dripped on the plate. Will not be coming back.

Great food with great service to match. The presentation of the food looks amazing - I ended up ordering too much sushi!! Definitely one of my favourite restaurants

I've recently discovered this place and can't believe I've taken so long to find it! I eat a lot of sushi and this is among the best I've had. It is more expensive than you would normally pay for sushi but not obscenely so considering the quality e.g. Average $9-$11 for 4 pieces of sushi. The service is friendly and efficient though it did feel a little like they were trying to hurry you out. I attended on weekdays at 6pm (when they open) and both times there has been a few people waiting outside for them to open. It is stated they take bookings but no one ever picked up the published number, despite several calls over various days and times so maybe they don't anymore. It is not a fine dining experience but it is a good atmosphere with the chefs being out in the open and benches around the cooking area, as well as tables. You cannot order alcohol however you can byo and they are displaying a sign out front notifying of an intent to get alcohol licensing do this may change. I would definitely return, even if the service and atmosphere were a little below par, just to get the food. Highly recommended.

Definitly my faveroute sushi bar in Perth! The staff are always attentive and nice ! The food is always delicious with a lot of choice on the menu! Would really advise other people to try this place out :) !

Went after the fringe festival, around 8:30ish. Must try the tempura sweet corn. Also had some edamame before magic mushroom and dynamite sushi rolls. They were very nice and a bit different, but nothing extraordinary. Service was ok until it got to about 9:15 when they tried to get us to leave. 9:15, really? Little too early to be closing up shop...

BEST SUSHI EVER!. Most amazing sushi rolls I've had. Great presentation! Fresh ingredients! <br/><br/>If you like green tea ice cream, TRY IT AT AISURU! I've tried a lot of green tea ice cream from difference places around the world, always find them either too sweet or have minimal taste of green tea. The green tea ice cream here has very strong green tea smell and flavour and not deadly sweet. Awesome! <br/><br/>And for the sushi rolls... There's no need to describe how awesome they are. Go for a try. You will be amazed!
Table80
Good experience. I like the idea that Aisuru has of creating a sushi joint that stands out above others, the combinations of flavours are unique and usually works well together, however I feel that sometimes there is too much of a clash and flavours will be drowned out by the sauce or another strong ingredient. The Sweet Corn Tempura is something worth trying, but only to try for the sake of trying something new. The pricing is a little crazy but I guess a lot of their sushi combines so many things into one, and the labour going into them, that the price is somewhat justified. I wouldn't pay $8-$12 for 2 pieces of standard Nigiri though, that's just excessive. The Sashimi is decently priced though, fresh and delicious, and generous with the wasabi on the side. You're better off buying 8 pieces of sushi roll rather than 4 because It's better value but I was disappointed by the size of the sushi (Dynamite Roll).. <br/>I'm glad I came here to see what all the hype was about, and I would love to come back to try other items on the menu but I would recommend going elsewhere if you just want a "quick sushi fix" =)

Yummy.... Superb 1st experience on Saturday night..<br/>The place was pumping, service was prompt and friendly and food was very nice..will be coming back for sure..! Thanks to a great meal

Two words; "Plum Roll". Always pleasant service, GREAT sushi, BYO alcohol - its pretty darn good! For what you're getting, the price is very reasonable. I repeat; the plum rolls. Sound weird, but amazing. <br/><br/>I made an account so I could write a review on this restaurant.

I have to admit that I'm normaly picky with sushi but Aisuri Sushi is amazing! Tank roll would have to be my faverate hands down but noticed that they seem to have made them<br/>Smaller from the first time I had been there? Service could be improved about waitress seem flustered and a bit pushy the male waiter had excellent customer service tho. Bill came to about $60 dollars but that not to bad it's probably best to come with a group of friends and order a lot of half roll and just split bill ^^
Acceber
Waste my time. The sushi is average nothing outstanding for me to pay a million dollars for.<br/><br/>However, the main dissapointment of my night was that I waited LITERALLY and hour inbetween my entree and my main.<br/>The portions were so ridiculously small me and my friends had to go late snacking afterwards. We didn't bother ordering any more as it would have been worth it. If your thinking about going here then try a proper Japanese restaurant.<br/><br/>Waste of my time!
Killroy
Great menu selection. Very well prepared and food arrived promptly. <br/>Ended up coming in for a snack and ended up making a big meal out of things! Just shows.
Foodpornjournal
Popular even on weeknights where we waited 15mins for a table. Very fast, friendly and efficient service. It was nice seeing the open kitchen and watching the chefs make each dish. The sushi is overpriced however beautiful the presentation is. I enjoyed the banana maki dessert fritters. Probably not a regular place to visit but I did enjoy it while there.
Blue Cheese
This place has the best food but be prepared to wait a little while for a seat - it is worth it!!!!!
Fiona
Awesome every time. So cheap.. Love this place. Hit it quite a bit. The Black Velvet Roll is the best. Get it. Also the Tempura Corn with Aioli. LOVE IT!!!!! The bill always comes to only $40 odd. So cheap!!!!
Tina
Very Good. Tasty sushi and good service. Will be back.
Spunkychicken
Great beef and chicken yakitori.... Had dinner there on Saturday night, arrived at 7.50pm, and were told it was about a 20 minute wait for a table for 2. We were seated 10 minutes later and service throughout the night was good, with smiley waitresses, once you got their attention, which a few times took longer than it should.<br/><br/>The agedashi tofu was delicious, good size serving for sharing between 2 people, even though the menu describes it as a serve "for one". The chicken karaage was a rather large serving, maybe too much batter on the chicken, but had good flavour. The magic mushroom roll was just OK, very small serve on the plate with salad that had a typical japanese dressing. <br/><br/>The salmon and avocado roll was as expected, nothing really that special. The beef and chicken yakitori sticks were superb, but the prawn and bacon one used cheap imported prawn with no flavour, so won't be ordering that again. We finished up by sharing a banana split dessert, which was delicious if you like banana fritters!<br/><br/>With green tea and rice for 2, the bill came to $73.50. We were full and thought we had a reasonably good dinner for the price we paid, considering we are in Perth. It's definitely not your cheap and cheerful japanese, but for the location, ambience and food we ate, we would pay it again.
Endlessmastication
YUM but overpriced. Portions are tiny, prices overinflated, but the food is tasty and there is a good choice. Vegetarians will be in heaven here.
F00die
Went to the restaurant on fri and seated before 7pm. First dish came out quick but waited for the 2nd and 3rd dish for 45 mins. we asked the first waitress after 30mims of waiting to check up but still didn't get our food. So we asked another waitress 10 mins later and still no food. They told the chef but he didn't seem to care and started making other dishes for other tables. All I can say is bad service and we also didn't get our food in the end.
Jet Volkering
Great sushi bar!. Great sushi, very friendly and fast service. Highly recommend to go to Aisuru when you're looking for a good sushi place in Perth.
Bree
Delicious and Attentive. We visited Aisuru last night for the first time and we had a fantastic evening. We turned up without a booking to find they were full, so the lady booked us in for 20 minutes time. We popped across the road for a drink and returned to find our table all ready.<br/>Service was great, which is a refreshing change from the majority here in Perth, we really do need to learn better service.<br/>Food was delicious and very varied and to top it off we spent $100 for four people including corkage for a bottle of wine and we almost finished everything, not quite.<br/>We will definitely be returning for our sushi fix.
Little Food Adventures
Disappointing. For its highly priced sushis, i had high expectations for it <br/>...the sushi was ...how do i say this, average?<br/>and well, i can get similar sushi for half the price at Poppo's (Japanese and Korean)<br/>a glass of water was like 4 bucks?..ridiculous when I'm already paying 20 bucks for 8 pieces of sushi<br/>...the meals (lunch set, ie katsu curry) seemed like a something that was worth more for its money<br/>the only good thing here is the green tea icecream<br/>(creamy and decent serving for only 5 dollars)<br/><br/>I dont think i would be coming back ...well maybe for the icecream
Simon
Top notch all round. Service is great even when busy, tempura corn is amazing, all the sushi is excellent. A+ !
Wisatakuliner
Pricey sushi. The sushi rolls were bite size with interesting flavours. Although prices are on the high side but the quality of the food is excellent. We ordered 2 large sushi rolls and 2 drinks $50 easily.
Noodles
Way too pricey!. I went with some friends purely because of all the hype about this place. Yes, the place was clean, modern and lovely but definitely way too over-priced for sushi...!!! I like my sushi and i like alot of it but because it was so expensive, i hesitated to order more. I ended up paying $87 for 3 people and walked out still hungry!
Foodie Paul
Expensive but Good Quality. Interesting menu items all really well presented! Was quite expensive but food was fresh and the flavour combinations were unusual and super tasty. Efficient staff. Didn't like my green tea as a cup of hot water with a teabag - would have preferred fresh leaf tea in a teapot - but this was my only disappointment.
Jessikah
World's most expensive sushi. With so many Japanese restaurants in Perth, Aisuru needed something to set them apart from their competitors. How about something as simple as charging at least $2.50 a piece for sushi? How about combining flavours which could work (tuna sashimi, avocado) or those that don't (tamago with sickly sweet plum sauce) and drowning them in more sauce? <br/><br/>You can't complain about the service at Aisuru. The moment the menu brushes your fingertips, a waitress will arrive, iPad in hand and urge you to order something. I didn't mind the passive-aggressive service. I didn't even mind the strange sushi rolls (some were quite tasty, albeit small) or the over-hyped tempura corn (like greasy popcorn, impossible to eat with chopsticks without causing yourself third-degree burns). <br/><br/>What I really had a problem with was that a few pieces of sushi, some edamame and tempura corn, cost more than $75. Yes, the guy at the counter was friendly, but wouldn't you be too if you just charged someone a 1000% mark-up on the food they ate. <br/><br/>I won't be coming back here in a hurry, unless I win the lottery or get a job in the mining industry.
Taylor
Overated. Presentation was fantastic, but the taste wise, it was fairly average - very overpriced! Some combination of sushi were abit weird...one type we ordered had sundried tomatoes in it. Several dollars for one piece of sushi is totally OTT! Would not come here again.
Foodee
Nothing to shout about. Prompt service. Overpriced for the quality of food served.
Nicole Stiles
Despite not being able to book, this place makes up for any wait times with great service and absolutely FANTASTIC food. It's definitely not your average sushi bar - the dishes are innovative, creative and delicious. I went with a party of 3 vegans and 3 meateaters and we were all well catered for. BYO.
Wintersolstice
Nice for a treat. A little overpriced but still satisfying :)
Leia Herbert
Meh... Overpriced wank for rice and seaweed. Is Donburi down the road is far more superior in quality and price. Its Perth....not Paris..

My favorite restaurant, bar none.. So I've been to Aisuru probably about 20 times since it opened, (yes I know, I have no life). I have never had a bad experience here. It's a place that I can always bring friends who haven't been before and leave them in awe of the place. It's so vibrant and has that atmosphere that brings you back time and time again. The staff and always friendly, the manager is an absolute lad and the food is incredible. The food is worth every cent, not only does it look amazing, it tastes great. For first timers, I recommend:<br/>Soft Shell Crab Salad<br/>Tank Roll<br/>Dynamite Roll<br/>Plum Flower Roll<br/>Beef Teriyaki<br/>Spider Roll<br/>If you've seen the restaurant, but haven't gone in, do yourself a favor and try it. You won't regret it!
Treesaregreen
The sushi menu was creative and the flavours were amazing. It was a bit expensive for sushi but a good experience for something different than your usual Japanese.
Shankala
Too much of a fusion. Good vibe, clean and prompt service. Food was nothing to be excited for. Too much topping, too much sauce and the price was ridiculous, $3 for a slice of sushi?(4 pieces for $11-$12) <br/><br/>Popcorn prawn was buried in mayo, we felt sick after eating it. One visit is enough for me. Would go elsewhere for the clean, simple traditional sushi.

My mum recently broke her hand, so in order to make her feel better I took her to aisuru for lunch. It was a steaming hot Wednesday lunch and when I walked in the host was immediately polite and escorted us to a table. The waitresses were attentive - and even after reading all the reviews on how pushy they were - I didn't feel like that at all!! They were merely eager to serve and make sure we enjoyed our meal. They even gave my mum a fork!! We ordered main size plum roll - which was nice but over rated, as I had a horrible piece of bone in my third piece which ruined it for me. The sampler of the scallop, avocado and crab stick sushi was divine - some of the best I've tasted - and the soft shell crab was generous, meaty and succulent. Definitely would go back to sample some more seafood delights!!!
Daniel Smith
One of my favourite sushi places... EVER! the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the food was presented really well and tasted superb. the banana desert was so delicious, i was tempted to go for another round of it. well worth every cent, i'd definitely recommend, and i'll be back for sure.
RustySpoon
Quck Feed Yes - But DON'T Linger!. I've been to this place a couple of times and I understand their business model is to get customers in and out quickly so that they have a high turn over of tables and maximise profits.<br/><br/>I don't have an issue with this if it's done with honesty - which this place doesn't.<br/><br/>On the second occasion I went there the staff were deliberately 'over servicing' the area where we we finishing our drinks in order to make leave. When I challenged them on this they denied it. Less than a minute later another set of arms was coming across the table blocking me from finishing my drink and conversation with my wife. After this happened for the third time in as many minutes I blew my top, paid up and left.<br/><br/>I wont be back as the Bonsia is just around the corner and is far superior.
Pineapple Soup
The kitchen was closed at 1.50 pm on a busy Sunday afternoon in northbridge. People were walking away disappointed.
OriginalFlava
Very much overrated and over priced. Although service was good and the food was really nothing special. I've had better.
Chef
Nothing special ... I was disappointed <br/>Food is not really nice, very common , very expensive ....
Coffee101
Incredible!. Lovelovelove this place!<br/>Love the fact that its different but appealing. <br/>I was amazed the moment I first stepped in.<br/>Definitely a place to visit, you won't be let down.

Where's my dinner?. Last night my partner and I took a friend of ours from Brisbane out for dinner, this being her first week in Perth we were given the task of introducing her to the nightlife. With so many new bars and restaurants opening up I wanted to impress her with the "new" "progressive" Perth. <br/>I had been meaning to try Aisuru Sushi for a while now and was very excited to be trying this restaurant for the first time.<br/>We arrived at a reasonable time, around 8:35pm to a full restaurant and were told that they strictly close the kitchen at 9pm sharp so we would have to order quickly. We only waited a few minutes for our table and were promptly seated and urged to order straight away. <br/>We ordered around 8 - 10 entree dishes to eat as tapas and said we would select our main in a few minutes. We ordered our main very shortly after and were surprised to receive our main meal in under 5 minutes. It was a large sushi roll which was well presented and tasted great.<br/>A long time went by and the restaurant emptied until we were the only people left. We wondered what was taking so long, but lost in conversation we assumed they were just taking their time.<br/>it was around 9:40pm when it was apparent that something was wrong as restaurant staff were leaving and the kitchen was cleaned. <br/>After asking where the rest(majority) of our meal was, we were told...<br/>"We're so sorry, your order was never put through, we don't know what went wrong?" I don't know why the waitresses or cooks thought we were still sitting there? <br/>We very upset at the fact we had sat there an hour and now have no dinner because they weren't going to make it as they had turned off all the fryers and cleaned the kitchen.<br/>They did apologise and gave us a substantial amount off the drinks and one sushi roll that we did receive, I didn't want to pay anything but the offer they made was fair.<br/>We turned to our friend as we left to go to the Moon Cafe and said, "Welcome to Perth."<br/>If Perth wants to recreate it's image into that of a progressive, world class city, then it had better concentrate on it's service, just charging exorbitant prices and having flashy decor isn't not good enough. I've been around the world and it is strikingly apparent that Perth has the worst service in the world.<br/>It's a sad day when you need to go to The Moon cafe for better service.
Foodie
This place has to be one of my top Japanese restaurants! The service is outstanding and the food is mouthwatering.
Fern Chua
Fantastic. Great atmosphere great service, great food, well priced what more can you ask for?! Big juicy tender yakitori beef and chicken, beautifully presented sushi , didn't get to try the sushi with pickled mackerel-next time, very good agedashi tofu. The highlights were the soft shell crab salad and the fried banana dessert
Michelle Jarvis
Love Aisuru!. Yes it's a bit pricey, but really, I will pay for the extensive menu, the freshly made sushi and the good service. It's not the place you'd go to get sushi every day of the week, but when you want something special, It's worth it.<br/>And the matcha ice-cream... yum!
Jenny Tu
Pricey, but enjoyable fusion. Service was good from start to finish. We had a lovely waitress who attended to us, and patiently answered all our questions. There is attention paid to detail to all aspects of the dining experience. Unique flavours with the mayonnaise in the sushi and karaage dips. The only draw back is that it is quite pricey, and you will be looking at $25 for a decent lunch.
Food Fan
Like... Seriously?. The food and quality of the food, including sushi, were great, but that was completely overridden by their service and outrageous prices. <br/><br/>I don't mind an odd service here and there, and if the food is good, I would still "like" the restaurant, but the staffs' lack of observation made me dislike the restaurant and put me off the experience. <br/><br/>I came for dinner at 6pm and easily managed to get a table for two before the big dinner rush. At first, service was friendly and attentive. After sitting down for about a minute, they had already asked me for my order. Don't they know that I'm waiting on my friend??? After all I did say a table for TWO... I politely told them not quite yet because I was waiting for my friend. They didn't bother me after that. <br/><br/>Ten minutes later, my friend arrives. Two minutes later, we were already bombarded with "are you ready to order?" and "can I please take your order?". LADIES, SHE JUST GOT HERE, please leave us alone! This honestly happened for about 5 minutes, even WHILST we were flicking through the menu. Can't you people see? And if we were ready, we'd BOTH stop looking at the menu and look at you guys. I got fed up at the third time they asked us. After the 7th time they asked us within those 5 minutes, we finally ordered. <br/><br/>The yakitori were delicious, but in crazy small portions... I could have the same thing in Singapore for $1 each, with more meat on the skewer. This one was three sticks for about $16. <br/><br/>We had the small sizes of the plum flower roll and the Ultimate Philly roll or something. All tasted delicious, great quality, but crazy small portions. We were still hungry at this point. <br/><br/>We decided to go somewhere else to have dinner as it was not worth ordering more food. We left 30 minutes later. We got the hint maybe they just wanted us to hurry up so that the new customers could be seated. Fair enough, but don't be so in our faces when we're trying to pick out what to eat, because you've lost two customers that won't be coming back. <br/><br/>I've wanted to try Aisuru Sushi for months now, and now I won't be coming back... Unless I became a millionaire and could afford this food.
Pandamonium
Fresh and extremely tasty food here. We were seated after 15 minutes, exactly as the smiley waitress estimated when we got there. Took me a long time to pick something from the menu, everything sounded good and looking at what everyone else was having only made my eyes bigger than my tummy. Busy night so it was a little cramped around the centre bar, but I'm glad we sat there so we could watch everything being prepared. Mouth watering view, so good thing our order came very quickly! My boyfriend is a big eater so he left a little hungry. I'm not really though, so a sweet corn tempura starter (yum) with a main sized spider roll (extra yum) filled me up great. The prices are a little high so we didn't order any more food, but ultimately I think the quality of their food makes it worth a repeat visit.
Anterial
Not quite a main. The service here is fantastic and friendly. I loved the variety of sushi available. My only warning would be not to bring first time Japanese diners as the portion sizes for the price along with the content of the meals can be a little off putting for them.
Ardenclarke
Aisuru Suhi is overrated. I love sushi and i think i've eaten a fair bit of them to know which are the best. I would say Aisuru sushi serves good sushi but the price is a turn off. <br/><br/>Critic points: <br/>1. Rice lacks the sushi vinegar flavour and have a lack of flavour<br/>2. The rice was NOT sushi rice. Short grain rice varieties should have been used.<br/>3 Sushi was compressed too hard. I believe every roll should have the grains of rice dancing on your tongue when consumed. <br/><br/>Good points:<br/>1. Wasabi were served upon request which maintains it's freshness and prevent wastage. <br/>2. Caviar and Fish roe were awesome parts of the meal <br/>3. It's not the freshest pieces of fish or seafood you can find in a sushi shop but certainly one of the freshest sushi in Perth. <br/>4. Presentation was beautiful <br/><br/>Would i beg for more? Not really, but it's a above average sushi but i believe the price doesn't justify frequent dining. I would rate the overall sushi experience to be 7/10
Stacey Kirkby
Beautiful Different Sushi. I have always had a love for sushi and I was certainly not dissapointed with the menu! What an amazing array of different flavour combinations, and there was such a great vege/vegan range! Service was nice and we left smiling :)

Yummeh but expensive...
Nyangiphooo
Good variety, innovative recipe, excellent freshness resulting in good taste. We had the black velvet roll, which was based on crispy tempura prawn combined with crab sticks and seared tuna. brilliant flavours and beautiful texture. It was topped with avocado and black caviar, making this dish very rich and explosive finish. <br/>It is not the cheapest sushi in perth, but excellence of their quality is reflected by the fact that this place is always packed by customers regardless their price. You be the judge
Bri
Enjoyed the food and it came out super quick which was great. Staff were friendly although didn't speak much English. Didn't think it deserved all the hype though.

Willl be back!. The boss himself was manning the cash register and made a very concerted effort to talk to us. He was nice and funny and really warm my boyfriend's heart and mine. The food was of very high quality and extremely delicious, the whole experience left a great impression- we will be back.
Peter.gen7007
Indo mei is tasty.. A bit of a wait to be seated - unfortunately they don't accept bookings. However, the sushi was delicious and the staff very friendly. Really liked having the kitchen open for view. Great as a place to catch up with friends (a nibble), but not for a family dinner (wholesome meal).<br/><br/>Tofu was sour, and we bought instant noodles after.
S.Slayer
Delicious... for a Price.. Not sure what to make of it. Sushi is quite tasty, especially the Philly and Salmon sushi. Prices are a bit exorbant for... Sushi. Entrees were way too small for their prices as well. Tataki, came out with 3 ish slices. usually comes as 6 slices, for the price, should've been a dozen slices. <br/>Would like to go again as the food is really delicious, but the prices are keeping me away. Service wise, quite attentive and very friendly. <br/>Also wish green tea was not a tea bag in a cup. Would prefer proper Japanese green tea.
Xtina
Delicious food, but a bit pricey :P
Louise N
YummY. Quite pricey for Sushi but it tastes amazing! I feel that the high prices is justified by the excellent, fresh food. <br/>Its quite small, noisy and crowded but i guess thats just the result of it being a popular restaurant. Service is friendly, fast and efficient. <br/>Been here a few times and my favorites would be the Karage (Cooked and seasoned perfectly) and the chicken sushi with the plum sauce. <br/>Drinks are severely overpriced, so B.Y.O or get tap water!
Joe
A-maz-frickin-ing. This is literally the best sushi that I have ever had in my entire life. Period.<br/><br/>These gourmet sushi are a bit pricey but man.. It tastes like exploding orgasms in your mouth. (that could possibly be the fish eggs)<br/><br/>Every sushi lover should try this place at least once.
James Fisher
Service is amazing and the food delivered the goods! Super salad was exactly that, the produce so fresh. Highly recommend
Jack
No thanks.. Sushi over $27?<br/>That has a crab stick and two prawns in it? Crab stick?<br/><br/>Seriously?<br/><br/> This is not good food let alone good Japanese food.
Out And About
You pay for what you get... and that means 'quality'. Best sushi place in town at the moment, hands down. Aisuru isn't your average takeaway sushi joint. Every item on the menu is well thought out and presented with a difference - that is what makes this place special. I was there for lunch today and we were surprised by every sushi platter that we ordered. The best kept secret however is its dessert - the banana split maki. Its aroma alone reminded me of hanami in Japan. To top it off, staff were exceptionally friendly. For selfish reasons, I wish that this place will remain a bit of a secret but judging by quality of food, presentation and service, I know it won't be my secret for long. I'll be back again for many more lunches... that's for sure. Well done Aisuru Sushi.
Nathan Teo
Definitely the best japanese restaurant i have visited in Perth - ever since I came to Perth 10 years ago. Just finished dinner there and service from the beginning till the end - perfect. We brought our baby pram and waited outside the restaurant with us and when it finally opened, the staff greeted us and said that they have already got a space for us where pram can fit. Service was fast and efficient throughout the whole dinner too! We had more than 8 different sushi/sashimi dishes split among the 3 of us, and seriously cannot choose a favorite among them... It's THAT good!<br/>Finally a fine dining, though it's small - but really cozy, that's worth visiting in Perth! Thanks for bringing such awesome ad exciting food to Perth!<br/>Will definitely be back for more :)

Satisfying!!!. Went to Aisuru Sushi on a Tuesday night and was surprised how busy it was. We got there around 630 and managed to get bar side seating but it soon started to fill up quickly.<br/><br/>Within seconds, yes...SECONDS of ordering, our drinks and meals were sent to us. The food was amazing and different to what you would find at other Japanese restaurants. The staff were friendly and attentive to our needs without being too invasive.<br/><br/>The set up was good and if it's your first time, the bar side seating would be a good experience. Great food, great service ... can't complain.
John
Great service very friendly and food is fast and good !! Great edition to the area
ThePinkFoxx
Delicious!. I love this place, my friends have taken me here a few times and I'm sure I'll return many more. <br/><br/>It's really good if you go can go with a group - you get a great variety this way and it works out to be much better value - only about $22 per person! We go along with at least 4 people and order the entry/4piece sizes of a few different dishes and then share. The soft-shelled crab salad is highly recommended. All of the sushi tastes delicious, there is heaps to choose from and it's all so fresh! One of the best sushi places in Perth, hands down.<br/><br/>The staff are efficient and polite and the place has a nice atmosphere. They can get very busy though, especially after about 7pm so there are times when you have to wait for a table as they do not do bookings.
Angelsentosa
Modern Japanese. One thing that really impress me here is the food presentation. Try order black velvet roll & banana split maki for dessert, not only it looks good but it tastes good as well.
Peter Baetscher
Very good sushi!!! I haven't had that good price/value ratio in melbourne.. So nice surprise in perth. Very fancy and delicious sushi. Sushi are prepard in front of you so you can see that it is all fresh. Very nice service as well. Totally worth the money!

Best sushi in Perth at the moment. The food was contemporary but not too pricey considering the serving size & for Perth it was especially reasonable. Love that the kitchen is exposed & a great not-too-fussy fit out. They need to answer their phones though!
Samsue
Great food, very overpriced. Food and service is great. Seating can become a problem of a wait when you come at the wrong time... But glad that we got a seat just before the rush. Fantastic sushi... However, extremely overpriced. Could be up to $20 for 8 sushi pieces. Just doesn't seem to be worth it. Fantastic that you can see the chefs prepare all the food.

Lots of selections, quite delicious but very small portion and expensive.

Good/Okay. They serve tap water now, so its good! Tea is expensive but they refill it with hot water - good too!<br/><br/>Service staff are good, food came at right pace. Good! <br/><br/>We had a birthday cake brought over and no corkage was charged. Great! <br/><br/>Food - okay. Had the Torch roll and black velvet which I thought was good and the rest did not seem very memorable. This includes corn tempura (oily), soft shell crab salad (average) , spider roll (okay) and a few other rolls i can't even remember now. Philly roll was imaginative but tasted average too. <br/><br/>I would return and dine here again because it's a great addition to Northbridge, however there are better tasting/value versions elsewhere too.

Totally different. Different from all other japanese restaurants I've ever been too. The place has great service and is spotlessly clean. Standouts for me were the quality of the sushi - raw scallops and salmon tasted great, and the taste of the skewered meat, tempura corn and tempura prawn.
Hannah Budge
Absolutely love this place, great service, food comes quick, tried pretty much everything and it was all amazing! Want to go back ASAP.
Fish And Loaf
Beautiful food. A bit pricey though
Finefoodie
Beautiful. This is a breath of fresh air in the northbridge area. I have had lunch here a few times, all sushi has been really nice and unique as you can see from the pics from other bloggers. The service is friendly and prompt. As some other reviews have mentioned the bottled water cost I really find this such a minor issue considering the quality of the food. I would consider this a casual dining venue but definitely worth a try!
Champ
Loved the soft shell crab salad & rainbow sushi rolls. Great service with so many menu choices.
Bmi
Very tasty, great service a little pricey

Not baaad... Been hearing mixed things about the place so finally decided to drop by one Tuesday lunch.<br/>Overall not too bad, I applaud them for trying new things as many Japanese restaurants are so 'safe' with their menus, I for one am a little tired of standard terayaki that and terayaki this. We had 4 plates of sushi to share & some miso & Tea. Bill came up 86.00 bucks. Yes the salmon skin and eel sushi was good service was ok too.<br/><br/>Little pricey for my liking, miso was very very bland and at 2.50 or 3.00 a bowl ... i dunno left me a bit annoyed.<br/>I'd give it another run though.<br/>Randii

Outstanding service. Totally un-Perth like. Friendly even.
Eat Inc
The service was quick and efficient. A good extensive choice of sushi rolls and dishes. Prices are a little on the higher end but the quality of food was good
Diane Parsons
Fabulous. Great sushi, not the cheapest but well worth the cost. Service was friendly & fast & complimentary water was provided. We sat outside under the heaters, toasty warm, relaxed and no pressure to finish. Will be back to try the rest of the menu soon :)
Frances Lyn-Tay
Yuummy (and very pricey) sushi!. We had a few sushi rolls shared between the both of us and they were all fantastic. We sampled the Kirika roll, the Torch roll, the Jennifer roll and the Salmon Skin/Unagi roll (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!). Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Our only hesitation about coming back again would be the price. $13 for 4 pieces of sushi is more than a little painful.
Kit
Overpriced and long wait time. Sushi here is a major rip off however is slighty better than some places but is not worth it for the major price difference,i had lunch here once and the food took ages to arrive and while you sit there you feel like you are being pressured to levae so they can have more people dine there <br/><br/>however the owner is very polite
Fab Food Addict
One word.. wow. I was so surprised how good the food was at aisuru sushi.. I have often found vegetarian food at japanese restaurants disappointing and usually consisting of heavy oily deep fried vegetables, but aisuru sushi does original delicious sushi and japanese dishes, vegan style. I had the sweet corn tempura with truffle aoili sauce which was light, crunchy and its crispy soft texture popped in your mouth. I then had the 4 piece veganpillar sushi with mustard sauce- the combination of creamy avocado with the tangy mustard sauce was delicious. I ordered a cup of green tea and they refilled my cup throughout the night with more hot water, so did not need to order more drinks. I finished with the banana split dessert- definitely a must do.. pieces of deep fried banana with fresh strawberry, kiwi, sweet cream and chocolate and strawberry syrup. The banana oozes out of the crispy deep fried skin and is satisfying without being overly sweet. The service was fantastic, we were able to do separate payments and they even opened the door for us while they wished us goodbye. Every time I have been past aisuru sushi they are packed and don't do bookings, but if you get there on a week night, like a Monday and come around 6/6:30 you will easily get a seat. Highly recommended

Service was fantastic all really lovely and helpful, food came out quickly and tasted brilliant!
Foodiefoodlover
Quality sushi, expensive, space a little cold. Great flavors and fresh! We were hungry and the sushi came out FAST! I loved the sunset boulevard and the simple salmon and avocado. Got a little shock with the bill but I would go back for the flavors. The room was a little cold (tall ceilings, no heating) for a freezing winter meal. Miso was nice.
Marie
Very nice ambience and friendly staff. Great non traditional sushi selection but I think it is awfully over priced. $12 for 4 pieces of bite size Sushi?! Tried it for the experience and enjoyed it but can't really afford to make this place a regular especially when there are so many other good and cheap eats in Northbridge.
LittleMiss
The food was pretty nice and I applaud the great service we had that night... But bench seats and small eating space were found to be quite uncomfortable. And also didn't like the idea of ppl siting around and behind patrons while waiting for seats (pressure to finish up makes for poor ambience). noisy also around bench eating area. Overall when it comes down to it, I think the meal is simply just not good value for the qty, quality and taste of the food. Paying abt $100 for 2 with just green tea each and not ending up very full at the end is disappointing. Silly to think same amt of money could buy a fantastic meal at a 5 star restaurant, or few $$ away from Atrium buffet... Worth a try but would rather spend my money elsewhere :) i'd go Bonsai over this for sure-better ambience and value.
Ichel22
Excellent custumer service specially the manager he was so nice and friendly <br/>I love the all of the sushi they were so great ! <br/>Worth to try !
PartyInMyMouth...
Over Priced - Bad Customer Relations. I speak fluent Japanese, having lived there for more than ten years and was so annoyed that despite my clear request to the Japanese waitress and then to te food prep person behind the counter - I received something completely different to what I asked for (from the menu). So annoyed that, even though I explained politely in their native tongue what I wanted in the very short 10 minutes break I had - the message did not get through.<br/><br/>What I wanted was a normal sushi roll cut into 2 pieces so I could pick them up and eat on the fly as I headed back to work. What I received was an inside out sushi roll with egg on the outside and some sort of berry jam all over it. Impossible to pick up so needed the chopsticks. <br/><br/>Sorry but I'm not into this type of mucking around with the traditional sushi roll. I expected authenic Japanese taste and got some kind of "weird LA, yuppie" sort of invention.<br/><br/>Oh... And it cost 16 bucks!!! Thats just rude. I would recommend Jaws where you can get about the same amount of sushi roll for less that half the price! <br/><br/>Not going back to this place. I hate being taken advantage of and ripped off. Please give me great food at a cheap price.<br/><br/><br/>Definitely<br/>nakayubi ni-hon

Don't Bother - It's Not Really Japanese. As the title suggests - don't bother. The staff nor the food is Japanese. For those people on this website who keep stating that it is great sushi I imagine you have not been to Japan before? It certainly appears that way. You will not find "banana maki" or "spider rolls" in Japan - its laughable to think. For those that know, head on down to Tsukiji in Tokyo next time you're in Japan for the "real deal". They are worlds apart!<br/><br/>Aisuru holds the typical westernised list of foods that you would rarely if ever find in Japan. I know this as I have lived in Japan for several years and understand the differences. The cost is roughly 2 to 3 times what you would pay in a typical kaiten sushi restaurant in Japan, and comparable to that of areas such as Ginza (Tokyo) and Gion (Koyoto) - but its in Northbridge, Perth and prepared by what look to be Chinese cooks with probably no experience/education as a chef in Japan. Obviously trying to claw-back the cost of such an expensive location.<br/><br/>You can get better food at a comparable cost at Halu or Satsuki - which I know is staffed by Japanese (all staff!) and the chefs are trained in Japan. Authentic and contemporary Japanese food with the service only the Japanese can provide. <br/><br/>However, if you are in the area and want some good Japanese food at a great price then head to Arigataya on Roe Street, Northbridge where you'll get a big bowl of noodles, soup and seafood for $15.
Mili
This is Modern Japenese.Wow! Had dinner before going to the ArtBar. Fresh flavours. Friendly staff. We each had miso soup and two dishes . Cost about $26 each. The soft shell crabs on the cabbage and lettuce salad was a winner. Good night.
Food Snob
Loved it. Sushi is one of my most favourite foods and this was amazingly fresh sushi, loved the Popcorn Prawns, fast service and it's BYO. Can't wait to go back.
Michelle
Food is nice (: but should add images to the menu and have more bento during lunch :)
Lizrel
Enjoyable experience. I definitely recommend this restaurant. A beautiful atmosphere, highly attentive staff and amazing food. Worth every dollar!

NO free tap water >:(. Food is good. Looks great inside. However, it's overpriced and I do not like being forced to pay $4 for a small bottle of water. I am sick of Perth restaurants overcharging and being stingy and inflexible.
Dut
This place is totally overrated. Super stingy serving...sashimi is sliced super thin for the price you pay. The serving is small.. Having to pay 4 bucks for a cup of mineral water is ridiculous.. Presentation is good and unique but the truth is if you look past the presentation, the flavour is just average.
Ryan Alford
Really average. Went here for a quiet meal during the week. The place looked pretty empty but to our surprise it was at capacity. lucky enough to catch someone leaving so we were squeezed in. The food was quickly served, however it was really average. Lacked flavor and the wagyu beef was a little under cooked. No tap water so we ordered regular still water, 250ml mount Franklin for $4.00 (ouch) green tea was made from tea bags for $3.00. The atmosphere was also pretty bad, felt like a hospital waiting room, really need better lighting and fit out. Music was the worst. Never going back.
Meg Coffey
Yum yum yum!. LOVE THIS PLACE. Went for dinner with a couple of friends last week and I really wasn't sure what to expect. I'd heard lots of things about the food and the fantastic ordering by way of iPads. My friends and I were out for a quick dinner so we decided to move up our time to 6pm - for a change we didn't make a reservation... I rocked up at 545 and there was already a line. Excuse me? The place was closed and there was a line - this is Perth, I didn't know what to do! Well... it was worth it.<br/>We are all quite adventurous eaters and so we simply started ordering off the menu. This meat loving Texan even tried a "vegan" roll. Delicious.<br/>We had 4-5 different rolls and all were incredible in their own right. <br/>We were full. We never order dessert. But something about the idea of fried bananas just hit the spot and considering it was only $12 why not. The best decision of the night.<br/>Aisuru is BYO. Dinner for 3 of us was $99. INCREDIBLE.
Mr. Foodbawse
Up there will bonsai and shiro, aisuru punches well above its weight. <br/><br/>Top level service and amazing food makes this place a must-go-eat-much-food destination. <br/><br/>Excellent to watch the chefs make the food as its ordered!
Chris
Plum Flower Sushi - Best sushi I've had EVER. Service was good as well, friendly as
Serena Jing
Well, the only selling point was lots of mayo on their sushi rolls. I bought a box of sushi rolls from the food court next day and put lots of mayo on it when I got home. Apparently they taste the same as the aisuru sushi rolls. Price is 1/3. With $15.90 for 5 pcs of shrim is so not worth it. For those who wants to try out their salmon sashimi is better to consider dine inside the restaurant as the wind could easily blow away your thin cut sashimi. Conclusion: what a ripped of!
Jeffrey Chen
Overpriced and too fancy. If you like fancy gadgets like iPads and B&W speakers ect..by all means go to this restaurant otherwise it's too expensive for normal tasting food. Nothing special, you might aswell go to Jun or Seizan.
Audrey Jeffrey Anderson
I Love Love Love Aisuru. We had lunch there last Saturday. Everything was superb, from the happy staff who were so willing to assist in the selection of starters. To the most amazing displayed sushi. I loved my Spider sushi ( soft shelled crab), the Miso was also very flavorful. The with the fresh salmon salad I was contented.<br/><br/>We added some plum sushi to the table and a couple more dishes I could not remember. However if you love great sushi, great staff, then head along to Aisuru.<br/><br/>I will be back again , and again I am sure.
Leah
Yummo!. This place was recommened by a friend who had dined there before. Was not disappointed! Great food, great service. Will definitely go back there again. If you're planning on going for lunch, dont leave it too late as it fills up quite fast. :)
Tim
Great Fresh Sushi. Best in town.... love it!

Amazing food - awkward service. I’d been really looking forward to trying Aisuru Sushi and the food did not disappoint. The sushi is fresh and tasty and the combinations are really impressive for Perth.<br/>Unfortunately the service does not live up to the experience of the food – it’s far too casual. We were seated outside and where there is no table service. We were required to go inside to order and pay. I understand, after all it’s located in Northbridge, but it would have been nice to have the option of a tab or a staff member processing our payment at the table with a wireless EFTPOS machine. <br/>My biggest problem of all is water. I requested tap water for the table as they charge $4 for 250mL of water (completely unreasonable). I was advised they don’t serve tap water. This isn’t good enough. <br/>The food is restaurant quality – but don’t even expect cafe quality service.
Jasmyn Hutin
Bad ordering?. Staff were friendly and the food was delivered promptly. <br/>But unfortunately, my companion and I got a bit excited and accidentally ordered about 5 deep fried dishes, so we probably didn't get to enjoy the more subtle flavours. Silly us!<br/>Also - they really seem to favour creamy mayonnaise-based sauces on their fried dishes, making them a little soggy. Asking for sauce on the side helps! ISome of them would be more delicious with a vinegar/soy based dipping sauce, I feel.<br/>Shame it's not licensed and for the prices, the restaurant lacks a bit of character/ambience.<br/>The karaage and corn tempura were standouts. The fried prawns and soft shell crab were a bit underwhelming.<br/>Beef tataki was fairly standard but way too small!!<br/><br/>All up, fine but not thrilling. Still, I'd give them another chance. I should really get into the sushi next time...
RJ
Awesome. We go there when we can. It's what Northbridge should be about. Fantastic!
MadAnt
So delicious every time!!! .... So delicious every time!!!<br/>Try the karage chicken!!!<br/><br/><br/>-----01 Jun, 2012-----<br/><br/>Rip off merchant. Went here on Friday night and found it disappointing. The prices were too high for what you get in return - tiny portion sizes and by the time you fill yourself up you have spent enough money to have gone out for a meal at a quality restaurant. Won't be back.
Esther Ng
Fresh sushi. Get: plum flower roll, spider roll, hawaiian roll. dragon roll is nice too if u like tempura prawns (who doesnt?) but the black velvet and rainbow rolls pretty average. banana maki (fried banana with choc & berry syrup - reminds me of 'goreng pisang') is nice to finish off your meal!
Natalie Tierney
No tap water provided. I've been wanting to try Aisuru Sushi for a while now and went to try it on Saturday night. We sat down and began to order a few things. However, when my gf asked for tap water - the waiter stated that they don't provide it. When I asked if the green tea was made with teabags, she said yes (for $3 a glass). <br/><br/>By law, I stated that they are required to provide tap water to patrons if they serve or if alcohol is consumed on premises. She got the manager who continued to argue with me and state that they have had a legal team "look into the policy" and will not provide tap water as they are not licenced (however they are BYO). Due to the unhospitable nature of the venue (and after looking at the menu which provides 5 pieces of sushi for $13-15 (that's $3 per piece of sushi)) we decided to walk out. I don't regret it and will not return again.<br/><br/>If you are looking for amazing Japanese - go to Halu.
Joseph
Wow. Great place to eat very nice , back there again tomorrow
Maymay777
Once is enough. After all the hoohah I hear about this new hip Japanese joint, three of us girls decided to have dinner there. Ordered Creamy Popcorn Prawn, Salmon Sashimi, Beef Tataki, and sample sizes of the Plum Roll, Dynamite Roll, Black Velvet Roll and the Scallop and Avocado Roll.<br/>While the sushis are undeniably funky, I found them quite poor value for money. The rolls were the diameter of a 20c coin and falling apart even before you could pop them in your mouth. I must say they are very generous with their sauces and mayo, the food was just swimming in it.<br/>Salmon sashimi is sliced too thin to appreciate it enough. Quality is fresh though.<br/>Winners of the night, the Creamy Popcorn Prawn and Dynamite Roll. I just don't know about paying $15 for 6 pieces of mayo-coated prawns and $12 for small rolls.<br/>Impulsively ordered the Banana Maki for dessert, which consisted of deep fried battered banana with mixed fruits. Cheap-tasting berry and chocolate sauces were cause for big disappointment. Bananas were not the right type or just not ripe enough.<br/>The meal came up to $38 per person and after that, we toyed with the idea of heading to Hawkers for Dinner Part 2.

Great Sushi. A delicious sushi restaurant in Northbridge. The owner is really friendly and the service is sharp. The chef's at work near the bar seats were chatty and awesome to watch at work. Highlights would be the Black Velvet Roll, Corn Tempura, Soft Shell Crab Salad & the Green Tea Icecream. It would be nice if they served green tea which isn't in teabag form. Will definitely be back again
Green Apples
Not my kind of sushi... I enjoy japanese food for it's quality seafood and clean flavours and don't usually go for the teriyaki chicken or deep fried options, for these reasons in addition to their ridiculous prices I will not be returning to Aisuru Sushi. The sushi was far too rich, fatty and overly complicated for my taste. For example, my dynamite roll was drowned in spicy mayo and in my opinion sundried tomatoes don't belong anywhere near a sushi roll. The lunch special didn't have a fish or vegetarian option and my favourite Japanese indulgence - gyoza, aren't even on the menu. Plus the green tea is in a tea bag, how hard is it to put some leaves in a teapot and walk around with that instead of the hot water top up?<br/><br/>normally I would be willing to return and try other items, except this place is ridiculously expensive for the tiny portions you get. I have no problem with paying for quality, but the little scrap of sashimi tuna inside my dynamite roll didn't warrant it's $18.50 price tag.
Elly
Went to have sushi at Aisuru tonight. The waitress came to us several times to take our order despite telling her that we were not ready. Felt a little bit pressured. The sushis were of quality, However they are way overpriced. Also the waitresses took away our plates as soon as we put down our chopsticks which sorta gave us the impression to leave ASAP. I was disappointed with the staff as they seemed like they wanted us outta there as soon as possible and get the next lot of customers in.
Iaindean
Excellent. First time we went to eat here it was closed... Opening Hours are a little short... But once we learnt our lesson and made the effort a second time we were very impressed. Great- friendly service, clean- but more importantly the food was great, reasonably priced, clean, fresh, crisp, delicate flavours... everything you want from japanese.
Carlos M Fortuna
After living in Japan for 3 years I develop a taste for good Japanese sushi !!! And so far nothing in Perth was able to bring back memories of good sushi. However Aisuru did jus that!!! Food delicious, the cuts of fish we're to die for and the beef was perfectly done!!! Will recommend Aisuru to anyone any time!!!
Tasha
Friendly and very helpful staff. Food presentation and taste was great. Good location indoor and outdoor seating.
Lisadenham
Great service and Food, salmon was so fresh. Love how the kitchen is open, definately a step up for Perth japanese.
Lisa Fini
Very Enjoyable. Standouts were the dragon roll, tempura corn and plum roll. Service was good and food served quickly. Different and good.
FOODdiary
Good service good food :). Definitely one of my favourite places to have Japanese food. <br/>Very good service, and quality food.<br/>Sweet corn tempura, spicy popcorn prawns, and banana split maki are definite recommendations for this place.<br/><br/>a little bit pricey, but too good to pass. <br/><br/>a huge thumbs up (Y)
Ginger Adams
It's just too expensive. For that price I'd want proper table service rather than glamourised sushi train. The sushi was good, but I certainly have had better. The sweet corn tempura was greasy and I thought the truffle oil was rather wasted in it.
My Tastebuds
Authentic Japanese comes to lil ole Perth. Best Japanese sushi in Perth? Yes, I'd have to say I agree. It's a bold statement, but it's true. Wait staff are helpful & friendly. Chef's are available to answer any questions you may have about what they are making. It's also cool to watch them at work. I recommend the sweet corn tempura, dragon roll & banana maki.
Ed Weston
Delicious. A real taste sensation. Sampled 6 dishes and they were outstanding - very tasty, fresh, well presented and prompt service and food delivery. Nice, modern, clean setting. Will definitely return.

What a great find!. I hadn't been to Northbridge for a long time, ages actually, and as I was driving through at lunchtime I thought I'd stop to see if I could find a Japanese restaurant in which to indulge my sushi love. Aisuru Sushi more than assisted me in this task!<br/><br/>I arrived just after opening and was seated at the bar where I had a ring-side seat into the open kitchen. Sushi is so fiddly to make I'm more than happy to watch others go through the motions. I ordered agedashi tofu - the tofu in which was divine - soft, silky, super fresh - and the miso delicious. I also had two types of sushi - one called a caterpillar roll containing eel (which could have had a touch more eel) coupled with avocado, salmon eggs and drizzled with sauce, and a salmon-based sushi. Delicious!<br/><br/>The staff were cheerful, the ordering system hi-tech (iPads being used to place orders), and the ambience bright, light and airy. With their central Northbridge location I feel Aisuru Sushi will have a bright future.
Abcd
Fantastic sushi. I went there for a weekday lunch and was very impressed with the food and the service. I recommend the plum flower and the spider rolls (both delicious and fresh). The service was very friendly and attentive, will defiantly be returning to try some other items on the menu!
Jamin Lloyd
Simply Sensational Sushi. Aisuru Sushi is a very well thought out restaurant. I love the way you can watch them prepare your food and the seats are spaced far enough apart that you can have a quite conversation and don't have to yell to be heard. The staff members are very friendly and displayed a very high level of customer service. They serve Japanese food but introduce ingredients that aren't typically found in Japanese cooking creating a fusion of eastern and western cuisine. I highly recommend a visit. As a footnote they accept EFTPOS unlike so many eateries in Northbridge.
Palmyra_girl
Great sushi!. Finally a sushi place where the vegetarian options don't consist of boring cucumber, egg or avocado roll. Fantastic japanese place to visit if you are a vego. I loved their spider roll and black velvet roll with caviar. I thought their salmon sashimi was a bit pricey for the tiny pieces on the plate, but it was superb. Will definitely be back!
Scotty
At last. Finally, a sushi joint that is head and shoulders above the rest, (although my son loves the fun atmosphere of Iku sushi), with some amazing dishes all freshly made to order. After buying some stale sushi a couple of weeks ago I was experimenting with making my own. However, the bamboo mat is back in the cupboard for a while, as we keep going back to Aisuru. Apart from the creamy prawns and corn tempurah, we have tried the sunburn sushi, dynamite sushi and the veganpillar with plum sauce, all so tasty and fresh, cant wait to try some of the other combinations. We shared a Banana Maki, also a big hit, and the staff are very nice and friendly. It is a little bit more expensive, yes, but I would rather pay a bit more for this quality of food than less for something I didnt enjoy. A big "LIKE"
Eatingout
Yuk. I don't like jap food so tried this against my will. Virtually all seafood, which I dont eat. Hate to tell them, but they have to serve tap water if asked for it"...........another northbridge ripoff
Soy Latte
Got there at 5.15 yesterday thinking that they opened at 5 as per urbanspoon! But they have shifted to 6 pm! Anyway 1st time, great experience, awesome service and most importantly the sushis were tasty. Very pricey though, even $3 for green tea ( they just use tea bags):( warning warning: dessert banana maki is only so so, if u've tasted the Asian deep fried bananas (or pisang goreng) before, this one at Aisuru is too bland n "healthy"!
Jen
Disappointingly overpriced. A work colleague and I went to Aisuru Sushi last Friday for lunch. When the menu arrived, I was surprised as to how large it was and thought it was quite comprehensive. <br/><br/>First of all, I must commend the staff for being very attentive and honest - possibly too honest, with one waiter discouraging us from ordering the Teriyaki, saying: "I wouldn't order that, order the sushi because we have only just opened and we are good at that". We took his advice and the sushi was really nice. Not mind blowing, but it was better than average. The garnish and presentation could not be faulted.<br/><br/>My main issue was 2 pieces of nigiri (salmon slice on top of a finger of rice) was $8.50 - this was pretty consistent throughout the menu - small portion sizes for $10-22 price tags (or there-abouts!). <br/><br/>$42 later, I was still hungry and not overly impressed. I understand it is high-end sushi (if that is such a thing) but there gets a point where you stop admiring the presentation and wonder how much more you need to spend to feel content. <br/><br/>I'd love to give it another go but I'm just not sure its worth the money.
Bec
Sushi bar. Pleasant service. Nice restaurant. Good presentation of food. Tasty and delicious.. A bit expensive but will go again..

Has a chance but.... Two work collegues and I stopped by for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Aisuru's quality of food is good but there were a few things that didn't sit right with us. Our first impression wasn't fantastic as upon arriving at 12pm (when they open) we were forced to wait outside for 10mins while the waitresses walked around "preparing". In relation to the lunch: Firstly the price compared to the portions was not fair at all, especially in comparison to some other fantastic Japanese Restaurants in Perth. Secondly, and in line with what seems to be the same attitude, is that they don't serve tap water? Instead you are forced to quench your soy sauce induced thirst by buying a $3 bottle of Mount Franklin. Thirdly, when purchasing what was I think a $4 tea, my friend had a cup of hot water with a tea bag placed in front of her. We had a friendly chat with the owner after lunch to offer our feedback which he took on very politely. Unfortunately, Aisuru should have done their market research prior to opening as we won't be returing.

Just had dinner @aisurusushi was excellent food, will go back for the sweet corn tempura and masaba roll. Some of the service was lacking, but i think it will improve as they go. The male manager or owner was fantastic he definately delivered great service and very friendly. i will have to go back because it was totemo oishi desne.

Awesome. Amazing Sushi. Black Velvet roll was a real standout, well worth the price
Lauren
Middle of the road sushi. Good atmosphere, large menu. Try the tempura corn, yum! They need to sort the waiting system eg. Collect names or give out numbers. Will return to try the Banana Maki.

Overpriced. Went there on a Friday night, expecting good food from Aisuru as I've read quite a number of positive reviews about them. Paid $89.50 for 6 food item and 3 green tea, 3 of us ladies still felt hungry after eating 2 1/2 sushi roll and 3 entree items. Didn't get a chance to take pictures of the food, but our sushi roll were definitely smaller than the other customers. Unagi in Caterpillar roll were barely there. Overall, it was overpriced and a disappointed experience for us all.
Dean Davison
Massively overpriced for the quality and quantity produced, great fusion concept, very ordinary exocution. Great service.
Ronaldo
Delicious food no doubt, but bit pricey and didnt feel full

Try At Least Once!. Visited Aisuru Sushi for the first time with a friend. It was Friday night and a pretty impromptu decision so we were a little suprised that we got a table quickly. <br/><br/>We decided that we would try only the sushi and made a few selections. The one sushi that stood out in our mind was the Unagi and Salmon skin sushi. That had flavour that exploded in the mouth. The rest of the ones we try was enjoyable but not as memorable as the Salmon skin one. <br/><br/>We would have loved to try the Black Velvet but our order was not taken properly. They still have some service kinks to work out but staff were polite and helpful. <br/><br/>Price-wise, it is a bit pricey for my pocket and it definitely would not have filled up my partner if he was there. But overall, it was a pleasant meal and should be tried at least once!
Carly
Magical!. The food is stunning - both in taste and visually. You do pay a little more than usual, but this ain't no teriyaki chicken and california roll joint. You can tell that a lot of thought and love has been put into constructing each dish. My favourite was the sweet corn tempura. The succulent sweet corn in crispy batter was perfect! My BF's favourite dish was the Dynamite roll, which had a little bit of bite.<br/><br/>Love that you can order half serves, trust me you'll want to when confronted by the huge menu! Also, the large number of vegan choices is so nice to see.<br/><br/>The service was friendly, while still professional. Our only negative was that the incorrect dish was bought to our table, but my BF liked it, so they said he could finish it at no charge and we cancelled a dish that had not arrived yet.<br/><br/>Kudos to the owner, who is also a lovely guy. He came over to our table and chatted with us about the salmon sashimi my BF had ordered, telling us the fish had been flown in 4 hours ago from Tasmania. <br/><br/>A really great place to visit!

Yum. I think what I liked most is the fact that you can order 1/2 size sampler rolls (4 pieces instead of 8) - perfect if you want to try more things on the menu. Good service and didn't have to wait too long before our food started to be served to us. Favourite rolls were the Jennifer's Rainbow roll and the Spider roll (soft shell crab always wins). Wasn't that big of a fan of the entree dishes (karaage, popcorn shrimp, agedashi tofu), but would definitely come back to try some of the other rolls and the nigiri. Owner/manager was extremely friendly and more than willing to listen to our constructive criticism at the end.

Overpriced. The food is nice. Not amazing but good. However it's not good value. I hope they adjust their prices or increase the portion sizes otherwise I'm not sure about the long term viability of this place.

Best sushi in Perth. Firstly - I don't know why there are bad reviews about the service here as everyone was *very* friendly! People went out of their way to help us, and the head chef/ owner? made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our dishes.<br/><br/>There are so many choices on the menu to choose from, and each dish has interesting combinations of flavors and sauces. The fish is fresh - one of the major problems I have in finding a decent sushi place in Perth!<br/><br/>Popcorn shrimp, dynamite roll, and velvet roll were my favorites. Highly recommend !

Absolutely brilliant addition to the Perth restaurant scene. Very unique but delicious sushi creations and to die for tempura. Very friendly service. Will definitely be back to tick everything off the menu?

Fantastic food and service. It's about time that we had another good Japanese restaurant open in Perth. The food is fantastic and well priced plus there is a great range of range of sushi on the menu. Our food came out quite quickly once we'd ordered and the service was excellent. We'll be back!

Sushi lover's paradise. Pro: The sushi there are amazing, both in taste and presentation. There are so many varieties, it's quite exciting especially when some of them have really cool names :) I'll definitely go back for more! <br/>Con: Aisuru seems to be short-staffed or they didn't expect so many customers for Friday lunch time... coz once the place got packed, service was unpredictable and sometimes non-existent... Luckily we got there early just after 12pm before the crowds got in, so our service was really good and attentive, until dessert time... where we had to wait a LONG time for our banana split maki! Luckily it was yummy otherwise we'd have left with at least one grumpy face (i.e. me... esp since green tea ice cream was sold out!!). <br/>Overall it was a good experience, the good food outweighed the long waiting time for dessert. I heard Aisuru was closed yesterday especially for staff training. So hopefully service in the future will be consistently good and attentive :)<br/>PS: Aisuru Sushi doesn't accept bookings.

Anyone that likes this place is ignorant about good food and good service. We did not think much of the rediculously overpriced food and got treated like cattle. NEVER going back and you should consider going elsewhere. Maitre'd was an amateur and the Chef was rude and arrogant. Kitchen closes at 9.15 on a Saturday night!!? So be quick!!! It's just about how much money they can suck out of you! LOSER!<br/><br/><br/>-----26 Feb, 2012-----<br/><br/>BAD ATTITUDE. I would have loved to have been amazed but I never got a chance. Went to a show at the Heath Ledger Theater with my wife and two children. We thought we would go into Northbridge to get a bite. It's about 8.45 pm on a Saturday night. Got there and was amazed that there was a new place that reminded me of Melbourne. Cool! Let's go there!<br/>Got in the line and then was escorted inside. We were told we would get a table soon and were offered the menus while we waited. 40 minutes later after we watched all those awesome rolls being eaten by others and salivating all over the place, the fellow at the counter approached us and once again apologized but this time he told us that the head chef is only taking orders till 9.30 and since it was 9.25 now, we have to LEAVE! What the ...?<br/>I thought he was kidding, but NO he was not. When I questioned him, he said that the head chef told him to say that. OK, so we wait 40 minutes with a couple of hungry kids (10 and 15), we are given the menus so we can pick our food and then we are asked to leave because the head chef won't take any more orders after 9.30???<br/>This head chef is a Out of touch!!!<br/>Well, back to the Melbourne thing; this would NEVER happen in Melbourne because they believe in service. In my beloved (backwater) Perth, these guys think it is OK!<br/>I'll never go there again and will tell EVERYONE I know not to either. You can't welcome your guests in, tell them you're going to make them happy, keep them waiting for 40 minutes and then kick them out!!!<br/>GOOD LUCK AISURU! I truly hope you get rid of that poor attitude!<br/>Oh, by the way, you should be big enough to take criticism on the chin. Instead of somehow having my post removed, you should be humble and apologetic!!<br/><br/>Beware of believing those that only have one review to their name!!! Especially when one person happens to know ALL the food on the menu... A bit suspicious?

Best sushi I've had in Perth! Made to order. Sit at the bar to watch your dishes being created. The velvet roll and corn tempura are winners. Will be back next week. Worth the few extra $ compared to what else is available in Perth.

Incredible. Aisuru Sushi can only be described as one thing. Simply incredible. Never have I sat in a restaurant and been wowed from start to finish, this however was a night of firsts. The restaurant itself was simple and modern, incorporating classic clean smart Japanese esq interiors.<br/><br/>The most impressive aspect was the food itself. The food had amazing flavours it presented basic sushi in new and really interesting ways. The table tried 6 dishes. The Plum Roll. A chicken sushi with a great salty omelette wrapped around it, with a complex plum sauce on top. The Spicy Tuna was fantastic, with a combination of spice, creamy Japanese Mayonnaise and rich crisp tuna. The Avocado and Salmon was a simpler but in no way inferior sushi with the components complementing each other to create a really simple and solid sushi. The Caterpillar Roll was Eel and fish eggs, the eel was perfect in flavour and the Aioli drizzled over the top was perfect to complement the rich complexity of the fish eggs and eel working in tandem. The desserts of green tea ice cream and Banana split Maki were impressive and a fine way to finish the meal, with the banana being the highlight of the night, with deep fried banana pieces skewered with fruit and smothered in two flavoursome sauces.<br/><br/>Aisuru brings a class, vision and style to Northbridge that has been lacking for a long time, I have only been there once but the place exudes class, from the friendly and passionate wait staff to high quality plates of food that come to the table. If Aisuru can maintain this standard it has an extremely bright future ahead of it.

...we then headed to Aisuru Sushi Bar which is located just 5 minutes away. Considering that its opened in 2012, its not quite new in the area. It is well known for its variety of sushi rolls with superb plating. It is strongly recommended to order the sushi rolls in small (which comes with 4 pieces)  so more varieties can be tried, unless you're going in a really big group. Honestly it took us so long just to choose which rolls to order from the fancy menu so we decided to seek for suggestion from the friendly waitress...

Maybe we should have stuck with sushi? Our fried dishes were heavy and our tofu, a little bland. The service was fantastic, however.

We started off with a warming bowl of Miso Soup whilst we were perusing the rather extensive menu. First up,  Beef Tataki -  four little pieces of lightly seared sirloin served with ponzu sauce.  Good flavours and very enjoyable, but the beef was sliced a bit too thick for me.  The Tuna Sashimi  which followed was super fresh, served with gari ginger (pickled) and wasabi. Delicious.   The  Tempura Wagyu Beef  was served with cucumber, ponzu sauce, shichimi togarashi flakes, sesame seeds and tamago egg. Very light, crispy batter and tender beef.

I have been to Aisuru Sushi so many times that I have lost counts! Aisuru Sushi has always been one of my favourite places to visit, because of its casual and down to earth atmosphere as well as their super friendly service. I have also taken a few friends here on various occasions and they're all ♥ it each time.

After a food-filled day at Swan Valley, my friends asked me to choose a cuisine for dinner. There was no doubt that my answer was Japanese, so they took me to Aisuru Sushi in Northbridge . (There is also another branch in Subiaco.) I was told that this restaurant was very popular for their unique sushi, which was evidenced by our thirty minute wait. Despite having pigged out the whole day, I was a little hungry and rejoiced when we were finally seated. I've fallen in love with lotus root chips ever since I first had them at Izakaya Jiro Grill & Sake Bar . These were really crunchy, but was unfortunately lacking in flavour. I thought they were pretty bland, so a little bit more seasoning would have been great. Another entrée that we ordered was the salmon sashimi. It was fresh, but I thought it was quite overpriced. Five thin slices of salmon was certainly not worth $10. I thought the sweet corn tempura was a pretty special dish, as I don't think I've ever come across it in Melbourne. T

Aisuru Sushi is a great place to go for a reasonably priced bite before you head off to many of the arts venues in Northbridge, the Laugh Resort at Rosie's, a movie at Cinema Paradiso or a big night out pubbing and clubbing. It offers some safe menu options for those who know what they like, some more adventurous choices for those who like a surprise, and a vegan menu for the carnivorously adverse. Sometimes you'll have to wait a bit, but the service around the sushi bar is very quick, so I doubt you'll be waiting too long.

All in all a very decent Japanese restaurant, not too pricey with it coming to about $30 a head and service was fast as they cleared plates quickly with plenty of waitstaff to flag down for any assistance. A good sushi option if you're too far from Mr Munchies and much better value than Matsuri.

This place has been around since 2012 and quite a hit in Northbridge. I guess it would be because of the concept and the variety of sushi rolls they offer!<br/>

...sushi.. and personally it didn't really stood out other than the Black Velvet Roll that one was I guess the only one I said is worth the $$. The Spider Roll was pretty good too other than the fact it has wasabi mayo! >

We ordered 2 lunch sets which were very reasonable at $15.50 each. Teriyaki Chicken and Katsu Chicken. Even with 3 of us eating we couldn't finish it all! Miso Soup Miss M loved the Miso, Miss J loved the Katsu and I loved the coleslaw.

At Aisuru Sushi presentation is key. Each dish is a masterpiece and the flavours only seem to highlight how truly incredible this place is.

Aisuru Sushi breaks every mould of expectations I have for Japanese food and restaurant and service quality in Perth

Aisuru is a great restaurant with fantastic take on the traditional sushi. The gourmet sushi rolls are just absolutely divine and highly recommended for a visit. The service is also extremely quick and extremely friendly.<br/>

Aisuru Sushi brings the Japanese love of quality cuisine to Northbridge, a place better known for 3am kebabs and grease soaked food halls. This is not the day old, plastic packed sushi you pick up for your lunch break. At Aisuru (which means to love) the food is so painstakingly prepared it almost seems a shame to eat it. Almost.

You can’t visit Aisuru Sushi without tasting the sushi, so give the Hawaiian Roll a try. It’s a wacky combination of mango, avocado and crab topped with salmon. Yes, most Japanese would giggle at the combination but that doesn’t make it any less yum.

Likes: weird and wonderful sushi rolls, amazing sweet corn tempura, lovely staff ... Overall: treat yourself for lunch sometime...

Casual, friendly atmosphere. Seats were comfortable, the tables are spaced out enough so you can't hear the conversation at the next table but also not too far so that you can't talk to the next table if you wanted to (we offered our dessert to the table next door because we were so full and they seemed so fascinated with the amount of food we ordered).

The theatrics of the chefs making the sushi was enjoyable where patrons were mesmerised by the non-stop sushi rolling, slicing, garnishing and blow-torching. The wait staff were eager to serve and take orders on their ipads.

It's a wonderful thing when you discover that a new restaurant is as good as you hoped it would be. Aisuru Sushi opened two weeks ago, along the rapidly transforming section of William Street. J and I had been watching the space closely, and we were both keen to check it out. If you're given the option, I recommend choosing a counter seat at Aisuru, for a ring-side view of the chefs at work. We started with two sweet, fresh Hokkaido scallops, served au naturel with a sprinkling of Tobiko (flying fish roe), wasabi and pickled ginger. The scallops were beautifully tender and worth a try if you've never sampled them sashimi style. Among the freshest I've enjoyed in Perth. If they'd ever seen a freezer, I couldn't tell, as they were sweet, firm and not at all watery.

My love affair with Japanese food is only reasonably new, but now that i'm a fan I really can't get enough. I've heard that there was a new Japanese restaurant in Northbridge called Aisuru Sushi and a girl from work had been and given it a rave review so I was really keen to go. So I tried to line up a dinner outting with M&M. It took some initial shuffling around because I knew that if we wanted to head to Aisuru we would need to be the early because they don't take bookings. So the stars aligned and we could all make it along on a Tuesday night at 6. A bonus of Aisuru is that its BYO and an added bonus is that Grape Skin Wine Bar is just across the road they sell many a delightful bottle of wine. I had arrived first so I went and picked up a few bottles of white and waited patiently for doors to open at 6pm. It's not a huge place, but you have your choice of either sitting along a bar, right up against where they made the sushi or there were tables either along the front of back wall

Mahara and I were way overdue for a catch-up so we thought what better way than to try out Aisuru Sushi in Northbridge. Being just down the road from Mahara’s work, she’s been eying Aisuru Sushi off and saying we should go there for the last few months so it was exciting to finally put it the taste test in hope that it would taste as good as it looked from the outside. It’s $2 BYO per person so we got a bottle of Amberley Chenin Blanc to share as we decided what to order…there’s plenty to choose from! The yakitori beef was my favourite…the beef was so succulent & tender, and the sauce was sweetly delicious… The chicken yakitori was just as tender and flavoursome… Oh and then came out the sushi flower which completely changed my view of sushi. We’re both not big sushi eaters but these didn’t last long! The egg instead of the seaweed was a huge winner for us and the plum sauce instead of the tangy mayo used normally was delicious (if you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know I have a ma

Sticky, gluggly, overcooked, broken. This was crap beyond belief. Any sushi chef who rolled this would have known that he had messed it up...

Overall, I love their sushi. Wide range and they even have Foie Gras nigiri Sushi & Hokkaido Scallop sushi! I would love to try their Torch Roll too next time :D

I wonder if this plate of tempura corn is the most blogged about dish in Perth at the moment. Aisuru is fortuitously placed at the corner of William and James St and there is a pleasing hustle and and freshness to the idea and physical space. From my vantage point, early one afternoon, I thought it was wonderful in parts. . . I enjoyed the theatre of the street and the kitchen, the stage is wonderfully lit with natural light from both street fronts and the ceiling is lofty. . . the players clad in black are full of intent and youth, though there are visible stumbles and frequent interventions by the owner. I ordered five dishes, four arrived at speed, while the final dish came with an apology and only after some prompting. The relative novelty of having all the sushi made to order is at once a strength and weakness. . . Finesse and subtlety are quickly killed by haste and pressure. I wonder how much better things might be if the kitchen were less rushed and if sauce bottles were used l

The Spider Roll started with light-batter coated and deep fried soft shell crab that was crunchy like a tempura batter, added in some cucumber and gourmet lettuce leaves, was inversely wrapped in the sushi rice and seaweed, sprinkled with black sesame seeds and had a fair amount of creamy Japanese mayonnaise. The crunch and freshness of the soft shell crab was the highlight that stood out in each piece of sushi and was further enhanced with the creamy Japanese mayonnaise.

Throughout the meal, I'm mesmerised by the non-stop sushi rolling, slicing, garnishing and my favourite, blow-torching. The chefs are happy to answer questions or make recommendations - just ask.

Forget about your $3.50 frozen crabstick wedged between some soggy rice and seaweed on a tray with glad wrap from your local store. You just entered the grown ups world of sushi, it's serious stuff in here yo. I'd been hearing lots of murmurs about the "new sushi joint down on William st" so time to check it out. They don't take bookings so we rolled in around 7.30pm to a half full room. Would we like seats at the bar where we can watch the chefs prepare the sushi? Why yes we would thanks very much. As it wasn't all that busy the sushi chef struck up a convo with us almost straight away, he threw some recommendations at us and answered all of our questions, great fun. Our waitress was upon us almost immediately with her iPad menu ordering system thingy and we grabbed a couple of sparkling waters (note they are not licensed if you're after an adult drink). We quickly decided on our dishes and then sat back and watched the chefs go into action, the pics can do the talking for now... Ever

Aisuru sushi, located in the Northbridge, is one of many restaurants providing something a little edgy. Think sushi, but with rock and roll credentials..

Black velvet is presumably named for the black fish roe. Inside is a freshly cooked tempura prawn, crab stick and seared tuna, and the outside is topped with delicate layers of avocado. It’s an sensory mouthful of sushi which is simultaneously crunchy, raw, metallic, creamy (from both avocado and mayonnaise) and if that wasn’t enough, tiny salty pops of fish roe.

Overall it was a very enjoyable dining experience, great food and quick and friendly service. I like how there are two sizes to the servings, I love to try a bit of everything so ordering the smaller portion of each dish was great for me. The manager was also very nice and chatty. He couldn’t stop talking about Jiro-sama (what he referred Jiro as) when I told him that we were going to watch the movie after the meal. He said he brought his whole staff to watch the movie and they totally loved it. I will definitely be back to try their other dishes!
