Review Montereys Brasserie - Perth

Kelvin Seet
I went for a Sunday lunch buffet and the price listed was $45. The buffet starts at 12pm and it gradually became crowded by 1pm. The seafood was the main draw for me. The mussels were succulent and fresh, prawns were juicy and sweet and the crabs were tasty and reasonably meaty. As you can see, I went for three rounds of it. There were other offerings too and they were quite nice. The desserts were good too and being a chocoholic, I only went for those and I was satisfied with their selection and quality. It was a good meal.

Seafood here is very fresh and stocked up regularly. The ice cream machine is a favourite with the kids and the tiny cakes and brownies are rich and delicious. There is a good variety of food available although tonight there seems to be a plate and bowl shortage. Some of them were not washed properly. You can help yourself to the coffee and tea as much as you want.

Not the best buffet in Perth, but I did dine with a Groupon. For the price I paid I got what was expected. There was not a huge variety of food, the best bit was the dessert table. They did not serve cheese with crackers, which I found really odd. Service was not very good, I had to go up to the bar to order drinks and ask for water a couple of times.

Excellent food , good service but could be more attentive .Dinner Buffet available only on weekends. Other days menu limited. Excellent Aussie quality produce makes for a satisfying meal.

Surprisingly small selection compared to Crown's Atrium buffet, but what they had on offer for mains was suffice. Seafood on this Thursday afternoon consisted of prawns, crab and mussels. Loved the creative salads and a moorish carrot and ginger soup (Not a fan of ginger or soup but I'd have more of that because it was so good and tasted like pumpkin soup!). Stand out was definitely the desserts on offer. Not the lollies. The minature cakes and ice cream were delicious. It's all about desserts for me and Monterey's Restaurant buffet wins hands down over the Atrium. Good value. Friendly and courteous service.

Was here for the Asian Inspired Buffet & Food was a hit and miss, depending on dish to dish.
The pork was the highlight of the hot food, mussels and prawns were fresh, service was prompt and polite. Desserts were delicious with restraint. (Not being overly rich/sickeningly sweet) I highly commend their dessert chef.
Negatives. Soups were mediocre, some meats were dry, and the selection & food quality vs the price per head ($58pp), might make some folks question the value of dining here.
At the end of the day, it's a buffet, and most buffets suffer from the same deficiencies. :)

It is extremely sad to see how Monterey’s standards (food quality and customer service) have gone down the drain over the years, to the point of no return for us. Couldn’t agree more with some of the reviews that it has gone from bad to worse. My husband and I used to enjoy going to Monterey’s, often with guests from Singapore, for their sumptuous spread of buffet however, the last visit in August during the advertised Singapore buffet was the last. Being ex-Singaporeans ourselves, we can safely say that these are not “Singaporean styled” food. Not only was the food selection disappointing, the quality of the dishes was bad. The vegetables in the fish soup were all dried and yellow being heated too long and most of the dishes that supposed to be savoury were sweet. And yes it is true with some of the reviews about the manager of Monterey being rude and cold. With his kind of personality, he should have sought a different career rather than being in hospitality as he is in no way hospitable. And it is even sadder to see the replies from the hotel GM not hearing what the customers’ feedback but is defensive. Oh well, this only further reinforce our decision to say good bye to Monterey’s forever.

Family birthday at the pan pacific and we ate at montereys buffet... service was excellent and food was Asian inspired and all in all ok a stand out was the crab.. good for the kids with an ice cream soft serve machine

Buffet meal, not as extensive as one would have thought for a 5-star hotel. Nice seafood but overall limited choices. Efficient service staff, As an aside nearest toilets to this restaurant are on the other side of the hotel.

Staff here are 10/10, attentive and friendly. I ordered off the menu - sliders and fries. The fries were crisp and came with small individual glass ketchup/mayo which was super cute. The sliders were pretty good, although the bun was cold which I didn't like (a minor issue). Overall will definitely be back to try other items and can't rate the staff I encountered on the night highly enough.

Went to Monterey’s dinner for a friends birthday but preferred having lunches here before the renovation they were def 5 stars. I enjoyed all the times I’ve had lunch, food for dinner was ok but was disappointed that there was no Panacotta want to know If I should go back for lunch hrrrm..🤔. Um at least the customer service is 5 stars lol 🤣..uh also think the seafood have my friend and I an upset stomach cos we didn’t feel too good after eating there..won’t be back in a hurry..

Very disappointing, considering that pan pacific is a 5 star hotel. It may be because we came here using a groupon voucher but that shouldn’t be an excuse for substandard food. Variety was limited, and the quality was average at best. The seafood wasn’t the freshest and the oysters had a weird grainy and taste to them. Prawns were ok but not outstanding. The hot food selection was disappointing too. Meats were ok. Desserts were below average, the cakes were dense and hard and overly sweet.
Ilovebeansprouts
Fresh seafood- crabs and prawns were enjoyable and constantly replenished. Oysters were fresh too, but weren't cleaned properly, so we could still taste the salt water and sand from the sea.
Not a great selection of hot food. Didn't quite enjoy the vegetables which were overcooked, nor the pasta which was cooked to order- the tomato sauce was just flat and unappetizing.
The roast pork neck and beef however, were delicious- tender and moist. Got to commend the cook that was mending the cooking and roasts station; really great effort for trying to multi-task between cooking pasta to order, slicing and serving meats to the crowding diners.
Small selection of desserts. Some tasted better than they look, which was a pleasant surprise.
Friendly waitstaff, however service was lacking a bit. We had to approach a waitress to ask for a finger bowl and had at least 6/7 plates stacked on our table before they were cleared.
Overall, not a fantastic buffet with wide variety of food choices. We did managed to get filled up on a few good, decent dishes, but we were expecting more and better selections, especially when we were in a 5 star hotel.

First time back after more than ten years.
The food was really nice and the service was very good. There was an ease of asking questions and getting answers throughout meal.
The staff were more than happy to help me( im wheelchair dependent )
Only problem was having to pay $20 for ACROD parking

Came here for the Saturday dinner buffet. Pleasant ambience, top notch service despite restaurant being full (thanks Jenny!). Large selection of salads, seafood and dessert. Hot food range can be expanded. Buffet never ran empty. It was also a nice gesture by the restaurant to help us celebrate a family member's birthday.

Enjoyable for the whole family. Great value with the entertainment book.

Stayed at the Pan Pacific for a weekend stay and enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Good value and great choices of different breakfast food. Left feeling full and happy. Thank you!
SL
Celebrated hubby's birthday there last night. Great customer service, food variations are not too bad. Love the roast pork, just melt in the mouth. And desserts were mouthwatering. My only disappointment was they didn't have oysters :(
Foodie In Paradise
We came to this restaurant to have the buffet dinner for the first time. There have very limited range of food. The seafood selection was still okay but there were hardly any hot dishes. Couple of hot dishes seems like been sitting there for ages and doesn't look very appealing. Service was absolutely terrible. The restaurant was reasonably quiet. We have to asked them for some water in the bowl so we can wash our hands after eating the seafood and constantly having to ask them to take away our used plate with all the empty shell.
For the price of $65 for just the limited selection of food and terrible service, it was not worth it. Not to mentioned our wine cost us another $65 on top of the dinner.

To be honest I am a little surprised at the 3.1/5 score as I thought my lunch experience was very good.

I dined with my colleague who was a guest at the hotel and selected the buffet option. My first thought was that for $35 per person it was superb value for money. The selection was not vast but it was more than adequate for lunch.

The seafood selection included chilli lime mussels and prawns. The mussels were fresh and tasty, and the prawns were decent sized. They were served cold although I didn't mind it so much.

There was a decent selection of salads and vegetables, as well as meat dishes including cooked fish, chicken, and roast beef/lamb. Soup and bread was available, as well as a decent selection of desert.

I found the food quality to be generally very good and fresh.

Overall very pleased. Left feeling very satisfied. If you feel like a big lunch and skipping dinner, it's hard to go past this restaurant.

Not too bad, came here for a Christmas lunch. Few seafood selections like prawns, chilli mussels and crab. The prawns were fresh and chilli mussels nicely flavoured, but that crab was tasteless. As for hot food, loved the ribs - tender, off the bone and well marinated. The sambal first was great too, all others are standard with roast ham and chicken and the regular salads and side dishes. Desserts were alright, cakes and tarts with ice cream. Decent feed.

Staying at this lovely hotel, I came back from a long day of meetings yesterday and decided to have the dinner buffet. I have stayed here several times before and normally had great food at this restaurant. But this time the food could have fit well in a 3 star hotel rather this 5 star hotel. The prawns were very small and extremely pale as were the crabs. The choice and quality of meet was poor. The deserts were not very appetizing at all and looked off. The only saving grace is was the service and people were very good. Looks like management is penny pinching at the expense of their guests.
Vik
Very good buffet lunch. Seafood collection is quite good - crab, prawn and mussels but better crab world be awesome. Prawns are of good size. Can you add oysters too? Mains are good too - both Indian and continental dishes. Desserts are good too.
LS
Enjoyed the seafood buffet special at Montereys for $55pp including a complimentary bottle of wine. The service was great throughout the night. The selection of seafood was good - the mussels and prawns were very obviously fresh. The hot dishes that featured seafood were good, but limited. Although not seafood, the tandoori chicken was a standout of the night, so succulent. The desserts were disappointing, with barely any ice-cream left at 7:30pm and tiny portions compared to other buffets. Overall an ok experience, was extremely loud at times with large birthday bookings and screaming children, not an ideal restaurant for date night.
Asian's Taste
We came here and tried their Buffett @lunch time
In term of the service- excellent (10/10)
One of the waitress name Linda did an excellent job.
She kept changing our plate;refilling our water; she kept smiling and chatting with us too.she deserves 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅
In term of the food- lack of variety (hot and cold dishes)
We enjoyed their steam prawn and sweet chilli mussels the rest of the cold and hot food dishes are average
Their dessert are nice too, but lack of selection😓😓
Came here for one of our Xmas lunches. It was ok! Service wise and food wise. I've had better premium buffets... (Am I allowed to say at the Duxton??) Not sure I'd come back but they are in the entertainment book with an amazing $65 off!
Irenenyein
Theres such a variety of food which is great - an asian section with curries, rice and veggies, then there's a bread & cheese selection with olives and different types of sauces, then theres a seafood section with prawns, crab and chilli mussels & lastly the salad bar with cous cous, beetroot salad and salmon. For dessert there was matcha mousse (to die for), ice cream, cake and more! Definitely worth coming here and great for the price

People usually don't pick s hotel restaurant as a breakfast destination unless they're staying at the hotel, frequently for the very good reason that there are many restaurants and cafes that are just so much better. Monterey's at the Pan Pacific in Perth is no exception. The restaurant features quite a good buffet and an a la carte menu. Just don't try to order something other than the buffet because the service is atrocious. Getting served coffee is a challenge. The eggs chef seemed to work on the basis that he could cook only one order of eggs at a time and quite openly requested patrons to try again in 10 minutes because he was busy. The preserves on each table frequently featured three or four jars of the same thing instead of a variety. Monterey's have mastered all of the little things that convince you to try somewhere else, despite offering good food.

Hmmm where do I start? Whoever that said buffet at Monterey is better than Crown Atrium, I want my money back!!!!! Decided to come here because Atrium was fully booked tonight.

First off, they won't let us use the entertainment card due to festive range, honestly nothing special with the foods. So we ended up paying $75pp. On top of that overpriced buffet, they decided to charge 2% credit card fee. I understand the 2% cc surcharge imposed by small businesses, but for a well established 5 stars hotel??? Ridiculous.

Anyhow back to the foods, not much selection at all, probably only 25%-30% compared to Atrium's display. I probably won't complain so much if the foods are actually good, again nothing special or stand out. Most of them are overcooked, maybe they have been left on the warmer for a bit, also they don't have fruits, which I found rather weird. All in all, will not come back.
The most underrated hotel buffet in Perth. The food is always of good quality and there is a good selection for the price. It isn't as spectacular as some of the other hotel buffets in Perth because they don't have a large range but the quality of the food and the service is definitely better than the Atrium (Crown). It's not quite as good as The Cafe (Hyatt) but it's much cheaper.

I'm not a big fan of buffets, and as I'm not a big eater I didn't feel as though I ate $65 worth of food (though we did use the Entertainment Card). They had a few different seafood available including prawns, crab, oysters, salmon and mussel. For the hot food, the fried rice was pretty average and nothing really stood out as all that great. They had a number of different cakes/tarts/puddings available for dessert. Tried 3 of the desserts, and they tasted okay. Generally I find buffet food isn't that great and feel the same about this restaurant.
Annette Evans
Up front I want to say for the record that I am not a fan of buffets. I much prefer to sit and choose what I want to eat from a menu, and be served that food by a waiter instead of jostling elbows with others while waiting impatiently in a queue by the salads to get to the good stuff. I have visions of being on a cruise and seeing people piling their plates with an obscene amount of food, hoovering up that food, and going back again and again to repeat. Call it mental scarring, but those visions haunt me whenever someone suggests a buffet. There’s something about an all-you-can-eat scenario that can flip the brain switch from decorous to gluttonous and it ain’t pretty. Fortunately I didn’t see any evidence of uncivilised gorging on the day we went.

A booked seafood buffet for two people on a Saturday evening. Huge piles of prawns, oysters, smoked salmon, garlic prawn skewers - all my favourites in one place! Couldn't fault the food on offer. The staff were attentive and polite and the food was replenished quickly at the buffet, even though it was extremely busy. Worth the $65 per head. We also had the buffet breakfast included in our room price. Again the range of food on offer was fantastic. Even a honeycomb from a bee hive! Barista made coffee was included and was delicious. Staff again were very helpful and polite. Would definitely revisit.

Diana. We decided to dine here as we had room credit. We were expecting a romantic quiet dinner for two al la carte & were quite shocked to see everyone was having the buffet. You could say we were elegantly steered towards having it due to the fact we were told there was a 20 min wait for al la carte -bit of a joke really for a 5 star establishment. The buffet looked quite ordinary so I decided to wait, but said I wanted it sooner than 20 mins & they did deliver fortunately! Partner had the buffet but wasn't too impressed best part was the desert selection he wasn't too impressed about them not replacing the whole salmon which had been literally picked clean to the bones as almost everyone had the buffet

Ruined a good night. Four of us had a meal, offered on a "$99 a couple" special. Food was good but very disappointed to be charged $16 extra for two bottles of water we tricked into accepting when we were lead to our table.
Chris
Good service - but. We were staying in the Pan Pacific for the weekend and decided to access the Restuarant. We chose to have the buffet meal. The food was quite adequate but not very imaginative. A variety of meat, seafoods, pasta dishes made to order and an ordinary selection of salads. The quality service carried the night, it was really quite excellent. But the real test for me is when you leave a place, would you like to come back again?
Jesika
Meh.. Says it all.

Birthday Dinner. To be honest, food is great but the choices is really poor. We paid $65 for buffet not much choices at all, and the desert bar is so disappointing to. I literally said I wanted table for 19 and they divided us into 2 tables. Doesn't even feel like was a Birthday. There's like a long table and no one was there. I would go there anymore that's for sure. $65 too expensive for what we getting.
Dinerexperience
Overpriced, incompetent staff, unpleasant experience. Booked a $59 per head buffet lunch. Extremely overpriced for the quality of the food - salmon was not fresh, prawn crackers were stale, ice-cream cones were soft, small selection for gluten-free guests!! Staff were incompetent, as upon payment the cashier could not work out the correct bill and did not apologize (at all) for her mistakes as well as the inconvenience caused. Not the best experience. Left us disappointed and unsatisfied.

Not a big fan of buffet's but enjoyed food here... Better than Cafe at Hyatt
Yen Trinh
Very fresh seafood. Oysters (plump), prawns (large and juicy) and crab (sweet) all super fresh, better than any other buffet in Perth.
But the rest of the buffet is quite average and lacking in variety.
I went on a Friday night and they were well understaffed, we had to wait awhile to get drinks.
I'd still come back just for the seafood
Bloomer83
Pretty good! Great selection of main and desserts. Not a fan of prawns and crabs but family members loved and enjoyed them! Staffs were friendly however a bit slow of getting the drinks over. $35 per pax for lunch was a bargain. Will definitely come again.
DH
Fair Deal.. Dined in Monterey's for lunch.
Buffet was fresh and a good variety on offer. For $35/head at lunch time it was a good deal.
Prawns and crab were on offer but somebody complained there weren't any oysters. (They would have pushed up the price.) A much better variety, display and service than other inner city restaurants.
Thank you to all staff. Will return. :)
Lukchang
Many varieties of good quality food. Good smiling attentive service all around. Will be back.
Eatingoutperth
Average Buffet. Can't say I would rave about this place to anyone. For $65 a head on the weekend it isn't worth the money for those that don't eat seafood. The only meat options were the roast lamb and some Asian style chicken. Everything else was carbs (potato, fried rice, stir fry noodles) salads were average. The food was good however I felt it wasn't worth the money at all. Icecreams at the end were very good tasted home made. No value for money, don't recommend.
Josh And Anto
Loving Montereys. Omg I love this place when it has oysters
I never have had so many oysters that were clean and fresh on a BUFFET then Montereys
it's a small choice to choose from but you defiantly get what you pay for
they much prefer to tender for the Asian market but then again that's their bread and butter.
Love when they have little French cutlets on the cooker mmmmmmmm they are the best
Jenny Bean
Very average and at $65 p/head plus extra for wine, left feeling ripped off. Also thee were 3 families there with little kids completely running amok, which significantly lowered the tone of the place. Not the hotel's fault I know, but I felt like I was eating in the worlds most expensive food court!!
Searching Decent Asian Eateries
Worth more than we paid for. We went for lunch buffet at $48 for 2. The food selections might be limited but whatever they got really mouth watering and of good quality. Oysters, prawns, baramundi, braised duck and chicken, curries, selections of great salad and desserts plus the usual coffee, tea and water with pieces of lemons in it.
But the roast beef and pork too dry. And beware of the Asian waitress with heavy thick eye make up. Extremely rude. The others, especially the waiters, were very pleasant and friendly.
Josh
Not many choices for buffet.
Service was horrible during dinner. The asian girl was very unfrinedly
John Karelis
Service wasn't great, atmosphere was weak, not enough variety for the price but the food they had was pretty good. All you can eat oysters can never go wrong!
Meric45
Sunday night buffet. Very pleased with all aspects of the night. We were greeted warmly and the service all night was excellent. The food was well cooked and the fresh oysters were fantastic. We would go again.
Badhon22
Not up to Pan Pacific standards. Very few items in the breakfast buffet. Food quality should be improved because if you compare to PanPacific buffet restaurants in other countries this would score real low.
Garfield
Not a good buffet place anymore. Used to be they are a lot quite restaurant which I don't like too noisy when I am enjoying my meal. I shocked of so many kids running around you and patrons were in the restaurant that I had been told that they was running some sort of the coupon campaign which is buy one get one free!. Selection of the buffet was cutting down, steak was so salty that I couldn't finish off the first bite. Pistachio ice cream so sweet and no flavor. Hardly find the waiter around you. By cutting down the quality of the food and service in the restaurant to gain more patrons, they lost some of us really wants to pay in full for the quality and service when dining out !
Ninik Keenan
Good ambience and not crowded ,good food for $35,tasty and satisfy
Tiemu
No crowds at all! Good value for $35. What an unexpected experience: 3 hours at Monterey's Tuesday lunchtime buffet with only 4 other patrons (apart from our small group) the entire time.

I loved the ambiance as we felt we had the whole buffet to ourselves. No noise, no lining up, no stress. We were all pleased with the experience.

I thought the best food there was the simplest, like the crab claws, and mussels, to which you add sauce yourself if you want. When you compare what Montereys offers for $35 to what you'd get elsewhere for a similar price, Montereys is very good value.

CONS: It's a small buffet with limited choice: not even ice cream at the dessert bar, and I tasted almost everything on offer (though in small portions). Although the food is good, it won't be exciting enough for some people.
PROS: Peaceful, quiet ambience. Some dishes I found very pleasant, like crab claws. Good value for money. Stays open for 3+ hours at lunch. Good location.

I'll visit again before I leave Perth.

Don't waste your money or time. We recently stayed at the Pan Pacific and decided to eat at Monterey's instead of going to another Perth restaurant. What a huge mistake! I have never felt more uncomfortable or unwelcome in all my dining experiences. After being told it was a buffet (and not receiving a menu) we said that sounded fine. We were not aware it was seafood only and my husband is allergic. When I enquired to a waiter as to other options of beef, lamb or pork he raced off before I could explain. A short time later a very curt waiter returned and said it was in the menu. I explained we had not been given one or been told it was seafood. His rude response was he would only charge $55 instead of $65. So my husband was left with a small piece of chicken and some very untasty salad. No alternative or something from the menu or any form of apology.

The only part of the buffett that I found palletable were the oysters and crab. The remainder was premade, tasting like it had been sitting in plastic bags for several days, vegetables and prawns were overcooked and generally unappertising.

I wrote a letter to the management the next day but have never received any response back.

Do yourself a favour and avoid this restaurant. If the food doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth the service or lack of will.

Pan Pacific and Monterey's we will definetly never return.
Mystery Diner
Disappointed..... I had high expectation & was looking forward to the lunch buffet at Montereys after hearing good reviews. The setting is nice but a relatively small buffet place. I noticed that they used newspaper at the table legs to balance the table...
Food: I expected more variety. Hot food: prawn skewer, barramundi, curry beef, chicken & pock, celery soup. Cold food: Chicken roll, mussel (Nice!) and crabs. Antipesto: sundried tomato, eggplant, smoked salmon, etc. Salad: potato salad, noodle salad, leafy salad. Dessert: Choc cake, rocky road (Nice!), pudding, fruits, caramel tart. That is pretty much the list.
Service: You need to ask for service - like drinks & teaspoon etc
Overall: A lot less that what I expected.

Seafood Galore !. One of the best seafood buffets I've been to in Perth ! I have searched high and low for good fresh seafood and I think I have found it here in at Montereys. Ok, the price has increased, even though the website price was cheaper and even though when I booked the staff conveyed the same price as from the website, but for $60-odd dollars for an all you can eat plus a dessert bar, salad, antipasto and heaps more is quite good. The staff are friendly and attentive, the interior is fine (what you would expect from a hotel restaurant- white tablecloths and dim lightning) and the wine list is ok. It craps over The Atrium at Burswood and Jetty's restaurant at Hillarys.
Rob
So dissatisfied went there with family to celebrate my kids birthdays we arrive at 7 pm on a Saturday night the buffet was a misery of food , at such an early dinner time," nothing "like a nice and full buffet it was the worst experience we ever had , please don't waste your money here ! Like I did .

Deplorable service. We made a reservation for Sunday lunch without being told that the restaurant had been booked for a private function on the same day. Our group turned up tone told without any apology or empathy that our booking couldn't be entertained and were unceremoniously turned away. Would have been nice to have received a booking confirmation, an apology or an offer to book us in at an alternate day. It had been a while since we'd dined at Montereys. After today's visit, we will never return.

Converting People Into Penguins. Montereys has a nice touch of class with a beautiful ambiance, with so many delicious dishes to choose from knowing when to stop makes it very difficult. And when you think you are at your limits and can't possibly fit anything else in you catch sight of the dessert table and WOW what a lovely range of some of the most beautiful sweets and off you go again
By the end of the night you have consumed so much food that you find the only way you can possible walk is the side to side motion like a penguin

$55 for a buffet lunch with Ordinary Food.. Get with the times. This is over priced and under delivered. I have been here a couple of times a year for a few years now and have watched it go down hill to the point where I can't go back! The buffet lunch was so skinnied down it was quite embarrassing. We arrived at opening (12 noon) and there was no more than a tablespoon of each type of cheese (and only 3 types). The rice was stodgey, very slim pockings of food, the dessert- well, they ran out and then when we asked for 'something'...they gave us 1 "chocolate mousee" which was really a ganache in a cup. GROSS. Service was ok, but what's the point? What a rip off.
The last time we went was a large 15 person reservation for Mother's Day and after overcharging me $150+ and telling me they couldn't credit my card on the day...that "the accounting department had to take care of the refund and they open on Monday..." I waited to hear from them. Nothing. Then me emailing back and forth to sort it out, they admited error and promised a refund within the week. It's not 2 months later...nothing!
Totally behind the times. I'll never be back.
Ness
Friday Dinner. There were 4 of us that went to dinner and picked the buffet. The seafood was lovely and kept getting topped up so you never ran out. There wasn't a huge choice of the rest but enough - you really can't complain as there were about 6 salads, 5 mains with a carvery and then desserts and cheeses. Food was good service was good and we would go back. Bonus discount with the Entertainment card - saved $130.
Stacey
Don't make the mistake of getting a la carte breakfast, you will be waiting for ages. Best paying for expensive buffet if you're hungry. Also I got Eggs Benedict and they didn't even bother to toast the english muffins =/

Refused Entertainment Book Discount. The maitre d' obviously doesn't enjoy his job and wanted everyone to feel his pain. The rest of the staff were efficient and helpful. The food was very enjoyable but we stayed clear of the seafood. Shock at the end though when we were not given the discount offered in the Entertainment Book.
Tania Morgan
The seafood buffet is great. There a good selection of seafood, but I think most items are frozen rather than fresh. The oysters were disappointly not freshly shucked. I'd pay an extra twenty on the buffet for a fresh selection! The dessert bar is worth it, leave enough room for something sweet.

Perfect For Family!!!!!. Wow!!!! Not returning. Our least fav dining experience in Perth.
Service ..... there was no service, at all.
Food ..... very average. We did not go because it was buffet (buffet dining is not usually our thing anyway) we went with the expectation of food prepared well as per previous visits to Sheraton hotels around the world

Very poor and very embarrased taking guests with us.
Never to return.
H AND M
Awful food for the price you pay. Not much selection for a buffet.
Helen
Waste of Money. Don't go, $65 for a plate of food that was ordinary is just too expensive for my taste but, if you like to just eat as much as you can with excitement then be my guest and go

Cafe at Hyatt is much better. I unfortunately came on the night with a major asian influence. On a personal note, I really cringe when I arrive at a buffet and they decided to make it an asian theme. It's more or less always sub-par and not authentic. The cooking station was also limiting how much garlic prawns we could order. What kind of buffet where you pay $40 should the word "limit" even be apparent?

Terrible service, especially if it takes 10 minutes to book!. I've been to Montereys at least several times a year for many years. Once Perth's premier buffet, whilst others have renovated and refreshed, Montereys is now tired and second fiddle.

You know it's going to be bad if you ring to make a reservation and the phone rings out. On the third occasion you try the reception number and they transfer you through ... we hung up after losing count of how many times the phone rings.

I would normally review the food. But I can't really remember anything memorable about it from my last visit.

Enough to say I've made my reservation elsewhere.

Montereys is a bit dear than cafe and alot more than atrium. I think its on the same rank as atrium. they have limited selections compare to cafe, but overall good and tasty!

Good choice of seafood, mains, salads & dessert. 2008 Gold Plate Award winners. Excellent service & conducive atmosphere expected of the Sheraton Hotel.

I thought the food was all very well prepared and everything tasted very fresh, not like it had been warmed under a heat lamp for hours and hours. As I sat and ate my first course I’d watched GG enjoy some of the seafood collection, including crayfish, crab, prawns and even an oyster. He thought it all tasted really good, so much so that he went back for seconds. This pr

The coupon offering a $50 buffet at $30 only is a bargain. While the buffet range was massively reduced, it still offered good value. However, come tasting time, I was very disappointed with the average tasting meals at best. I can’t really say there were any highlights and were quick to leave. The food wasn’t horrible, but it was average. I’d prefer to have ordered a meal at another restaurant instead. I’m not sure what has happened, but the standard has really fallen to an all time low. Your money is best spent elsewhere.
