A little bit pricey for Malay food, but I think it is made up for with the venue itself. This would be a great place to take someone who hasn't experienced Malay Food before on a date. A lot nicer atmosphere then what you would typically find at a place that sells Nasi Lemak. Plus you can also finish your date with desert at the ice cream joint next door.
I’d been wanting to try Nasi Lemak for ages but being NOR I’m rarely ‘in the area’.
But when we finally did it was worth the trip.
Food was flavoursome and true. Good serving sizes. Tasting platter easily served 3 of us.
Service was prompt despite being a full house on a Thursday evening.

We had the Nasi Lemak with Ayam Percik and Mamak Mee Goreng - It was delicious! The staff were lovely ... and very helpful too. There is a gorgeous mural inside depicting a blend of South Perth, Perth City and (we think) Malacca. We googled and found out that the Artwork both inside and outside is done by Malaysian artist Joshua Kane Gomes. We’ll definitely be back again soon.
Decent food and staff are friendly but probably shouldn't charge $20 for a dish you can get from it's origin for $1-2 unless you can make it just as well as them. The food on their menu is considered street food in Malaysia and if you want to charge those prices, probably up your game a little, but not a bad place at all.
sharing between 8 of us, this place was great. although the food is quite pricey for what you get, shared between all of us came to a total of $15 each which i conclude is reasonable for the place and location, and was enough to fill must of us. the decor was hipster and different, and the music was a plus for me. also the waitress who served us was lovely and friendly. overall a good experience.
Such tasty food and delivered to the table very quickly, service was excellent and the food is really well priced.

Never disappointed with this place. I've paid much more for much smaller portions and average quality food at many other Malaysian restaurants in Perth. Still amazes me how cheap NLK is for great quality Malaysian food!
Cannot get enough of the Chicken Sambal, but for true Chilli lovers only.
The place is always pumping, even on a Monday night - that's a pretty good indicator of a great restaurant. Not surprised walkins struggle - the food is so good, priority goes to those who book.

Just wanna say, the service is consistently good for what's on offer and waiters are always friendly and attentive when needed.
The staff are doing everything they should be.
I think some clientele are mistakenly expecting high class dining, which is leading to the bad reviews. If you can look past this, you'll realize how good their offering actually is, and why it's packed every night.
Don't expect 'at your beck and call' service, that's not the NLK vibe. It's a cheap and good quality Malaysian restaurant with BYO, that's got a busy but still chilled atmosphere.

After seeing a great deal through Scoopon, we couldn’t resist to try it out. We were greeted by a unfriendly manager.. not a good first impression. Luckily the younger waitresses made up for it and quickly took our orders. Food came out soon after. The cold Teh tarik didn’t have the usual strong tea flavour and was too milky for my liking. The nasi lemak with the beef randang was a generous serving which had a good spicy kick. The sambal was delish. We also got the nasi lemak with the squid. Oh man.. it was spicy! Luckily I can eat hot food and it did make me break a sweat. Unfortunately the durian strudel was a let down. It tasted like defrosted durian on plain pastry. Not worth eating. Overall it was a good meal although I wouldn’t pay full price for it as it was on more of the expensive side.
Went here with my hubby and great experience. Got seated immediately and greeted by friendly server. We had the tasting plate and nasi lemak. Very lovely interiors. Very quick service and delicious tasting food. We really enjoyed our experience and look forward to returning soon to this restaurant.

Lovely interior with a nice ambience. Tried a number of dishes and while some dishes tasted great, others were just so-so. Had the Cucur Udang (Prawn & Chives Fritters) and Tuna Cutlets to begin with. Both had delicious flavours, but we would have liked more prawns in the Cucur Udang and more crisp on the Tuna Cutlets. Pipi Clams were beautifully cooked in a light tasting broth.
For mains, we had the Nasi Lemak and Nasi Pandan, which were both nice and fluffy. The sambal of the Nasi Lemak has a good kick of spice. Quite enjoy the Pineapple Fish Sambal and Beef Rendang too. However, the Sayur Lodeh, which is supposedly a mixed vegetable curry, only had cabbage, green beans & loads of carrots, and the curry was a quite flat in taste.
Dessert was the most underwhelming one. Had the Cucur Pisang (fried banana balls) and they were dry & doughy- wasn't a delight to sink our teeth into. The chocolate ganache wasn't really a ganache; tasted more like an artificial chocolate sauce.
Prices are premium and though overall it was a good night, the quality of some dishes needs to be improved in order to justify the prices we were paying.
Ordered pipi clams (entree), chicken nyonya curry, nasi kunyik, papadum and teh tarik (hot drink) shared between two.
Service was great even though the place was understaffed. They did their best with what they had. With the pipi clams, about 10 were closed and so we asked for it to be sent back to the kitchen. The waiters readily helped and apologised. They asked if the dish was good the second time it came back and apologized again at the cashier.
Curry was amazing. Enough said.
Rice (nasi) could use more butter but maybe that is just me. I liked how it had small pieces of fruit and vegetables on the side. It was refreshing :)
Teh tarik. Can't go wrong with curry.
Papadum. Great, maybe not the best dish with curry. But still good.

I've been here quite a lot! I originally came here at the invitation of the owners to try it on the house but have since been back many times and love to chat to the really lovely Malaysian couple Tania and Allen. I feel sorry for this place as it is constantly being criticised for being too spicy by westerners and not spicy enough by Malaysians. I think it's a great place to try Nalaysian food if you've not had it before, as they import authentic ingredients they can't get and play it a bit light on the excess chilli but give you the option of extra free sambal - so it's the best of both worlds!
I have tried several noodle dishes, roti, several curries, drinks and desserts - I loved it all although didn't really find their new addition of a breakfast menu to be my thing (mainly because it wasn't Malaysian). I liked the curries and roti the most, and the pandan rice. Although the glass noodle salad is bloody delicious too, the dressing is amazing even though I have no idea what is in it. The main test is that I never look for a salt or pepper shaker, or even the chilli sauce - and for a condiment obsessed foodie like myself that says a lot. It also has a lot of vego friendly options!
The setting is relaxed, airy and really nice for a catch up. I think if you stick to the traditional dishes you'll really enjoy it - and remember to ask for more sambal if you want it!
Chose to visit this place purely based on the photos on their Instagram account — food looked delicious! Having seen mixed reviews we tried not to set our expectations too high, but I'm happy to say our family of four were not disappointed in the slightest! Went there for Sunday lunch, and arrived to find the place quite busy. Staff were very polite and communicative, although I'd recommend they brush up on their knowledge of which items are gluten free. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty. Stand out dish was the rendang roti — the beef had a beautiful melt-in-the-mouth texture. We ordered three of the four desserts on the menu, but they were a bit disappointing.

Amazing! Food and service were both wonderful! Highly recommend the Assam fish curry and vegetable dahl. Only downside is that most dishes don't come with rice and at $6 per serve it gets a little pricey. However I would definitely come back.
Food was tasty and well priced. Had the nasi lemak. Nice atmosphere. Staff were attentive and friendly. Byo aswell at $4 a person. Deserves a higher rating on Zomato.
It was a lovely warm April night when we tried this place and the modern decor and ambience was inviting. I really enjoyed the Nasi Lamak, which is uniquely Malaysian and comes with coconut rice, roast peanuts, small fried anchovies, cucumber and boiled egg as garnishes which is then made all of a sudden meaningful with the special spicy sambal sauce. My fellow diners opted out of the house specialty and tried the more familiar Malaysian Laksa and noodle dishes, which they found unremarkable. "My plate was just sauce and noodles!", cried my sister. I loved my Nasi and if you wish to give this place a try, I recommend only the Nasi as the house specialty. A good night and I would come again.

Thursday night dinner with my sisters after a very busy, physically and mentally challenging day!
On arrival, we were seated at our reserved table without delay. Water and menus were brought promptly and orders taken in an orderly fashion. One of the things I have noted from this experience is that we were needing to prompt the staff a bit to cater for our needs. Not a big fuss but just something that I think is worth mentioning. They didn't seem to anticipate providing sharing plates or bowls for our rice and noodle dishes. They also didn't anticipate needing wine glasses for our byo wine ($4/glass).
The food was quite delicious; so that is a definite factor to return for.
Our entre was chicken satay for $10 (3 skewers). This came out quite promptly and was tender and accompanied by all the traditional trimmings of cucumber and onion.
Our mains swiftly followed but this is one of those points where we needed to prompt for some service.
The beef rendang was soft, tender and cooked to perfection. Accompanied by rice which had to be ordered in addition to the dish at $6/bowl (I think this is the most expensive bowl of rice I've ever ordered). The serving size for the rendang was a lot larger than we anticipated and we were extremely pleased with this.
The laksa nonya was interesting and tasty. Not to say it was not delicious but I think the other two dishes outshone this one. It had two types of noodles which is vermicelli and egg noodles which is perfect. Also the broth was flavourful and creamy. It had prawns and soft shell crab also cooked well and not soggy or anything.
The nasi lemak is of course their namesake dish and we chose this with sambal ikan (fried anchovies). As my sister described it had a slow burn, gradual hot heat to the dish which was divine. The flavours were all well balanced in this dish and delicious.
As we were also ordering a take away dish, the waitress was very proactive in returning to our table at the time the kitchen would be closing so that the final order could be put through. This ensured the food was freshly prepared and not soggy by the time we left. Thank you!!!!
Overall, being able to sit down, enjoy good food, good company, albeit slightly loud/echoey to hear each other speak... it was a well enjoyed night. 👍
This place is a little gem! Situated on the corner of Stirling Hwy and Glyde St in Mosman Park, the Malaysian restaurant isn't hard to find. The ambience of the place is lovely and the fit-out is stylishly modern without being too over the top. I especially love the mural that is painted on the southern wall. The service was fantatsic, all staff are very friendly and greet each customer with a smile. But the best part is the food! We ordered the Chicken Nyonya Curry and Ayam Goreng. Both were excellent and really reminded us of being back in Malaysia. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic Malaysian eats.
Came here for a meal on a Friday night and we really enjoyed ourselves. The food was great, we had the Nasi Lemak with beef rendang and the Nasi Goreng. Both dishes were tasty, the beef was AMAZING! Really generous portions too.
Staff were great, really attentive and fun actually, there was one guy who was hilarious and really made our night. Will definitely come back
We stumbled upon this place whilst catching a movie in the cinema next door. Judging from its name it specializes in Nasi lemak. I had mine with ayam goreng which didn't quite impress me as it was dry. I also had the Teh Tarik which was unfortunately way too sweet.
Buzzy and with switched on and chilled staff fostering a great atmosphere. Shared a range of dishes including an excellent Nonya Chicken, Rendang, and Roti. Preston St is developing and Nasi Lemak Corner should be celebrated.
Very friendly service, good atmosphere (can be a bit loud sometimes), absolutely amazing food in generous serves, also comparably very cheap. Have been here many many times and it's consistently fantastic. Malaysian cuisine varies so much, this is definitely the best in Perth. (From a Malaysian family).
Without a doubt the best Malaysian in Perth. The beef rendang is amazing as is the nasi goreng. My partner is of Malaysian descent and loves it too. Everything is well priced. I can't believe it's rated so low, my suspicion is it must be competitors rating it down. Amazing value, check this place out!!!
Came here for dinner for the first time on Thursday! Small and cosy little restaurant, the food was tasty and the service was good. I really liked the bihun, I think that was my favorite !! The clam was ok, and the nasi Lemak was just abit too spicy for me ! But I will definitely come back and try something else!!

This small corner shop, appropriately named Nasi Lemak Corner, showcases a variety of contemporary Malaysian cuisines. This was also complemented by the contemporary interpretation of Malaysian artistry, whilst maintaining a level of simplicity. I tried their speciality dish, Nasi Lemak which was presented beautifully. From the first spoon, the taste had been inherently cultivated for the Western palate, with many of the striking and sharp flavours dulled down as to not overwhelm the senses. This can either be a positive or negative depending on how you like your food, but I personally prefer the original recipe. Prices are on the higher end, but you get a lot more than just good food.
Nasi Lemak serve up lovely Malaysian dishes in a cosy, buzzing environment on Preston Street, Como. The service is always friendly and accommodating, and the prices are very reasonable. The restaurant itself is always comfortable to sit in, and fills up quick. Come here for a wonderful cuisine experience, start to finish.
Nice cosy ambience for breakfast or lunch. We had Asam Laksa and Nasi Lemak Ayam. The fish based soup was ok, but would prefer to have belacan and dollops of heh ko/prawn paste (the dark paste on the spoon) adding in to the flavour. On the other hand, a big thumbs up for the Sambal served for the Nasi Lemak. Yes, I'd agree with other reviewers that the price is slightly high for Street food. Definitely would come back again, but more on occasionally basis.

Straight up - Nasi Lemak Korner is BYO only. They don't have any alcohol on the menu. Thankfully the Karralee is across the road and you can get supplies from there.
Secondly, parking is a bit of a nightmare. Meaning you could be driving around a bit if you're not a local and don't know the good spots.
And thirdly, either I'm getting really ancient but the menu is hard to read. It's this cursive thick don't that bleeds together.
Now those things are out of the way, onto the food. It's Malaysian street food thats far from dirty. It's full of flavour and doesn't leave you feeling greasy like some Asian restaurants in Perth do. But it's not cheap or heavy on the portion sizes like Malaysian street food.
We ordered the beef rendang, that had us coming back for more. The chicken nyonya curry, which was four decent pieces of chicken with potato and a good amount of sauce. The pasembur is a board of battered and fried soft shell crab and prawn on a mountain of salad with sambala on the side. The Nasi Goreng was filled with fish. The dhal was our least favourite and a little flavourless, but was a good offset from the hot rendang and sambala.
We were a table of six and told this was a good amount to share. And yes the number of dishes were right, but the portions are really small, we were cutting meat in half to make sure we could all have some. Instead I suggest you order two mains and double up on them so you get a good amount of each:
Trawling through Zomato this afternoon I was excited to find a nice sounding Malaysian place that is named after a traditional Malaysian dish Nasi Lamak and which happens to be one of my favourites. After spending three months in Malaysia, I have memories of eating Nasi Lama from Banana leaves for breakfast that we got from a local stall but really I could eat Nasi Lamak all day.
Came for a Saturday lunch. Very quick and friendly service.
Ordered the famous Nasi Lemak with chicken and beef rendang. Gotta say, disappointed with the chicken (although my 4yo loved it) but the rendang was delicious.
Would score higher if prices were lower, I feel like they're charging just a bit much for what is classically street food.

Satay sticks were exactly like the ones we had in Penang though $10 for 3 is a little on the upper side.
The nonya chicken curry was come back for more delicious! Coconut rice was the perfect accompaniment.
I am extremely glad we came on the weekend and could order the roti, best I've had in Perth and as good as Malaysia, $9 for 2 a little over priced.

Well you all must have caught them on a bad day, or we got lucky. We were headed elsewhere but saw this and thought we should try to get a table. It's always a good sign when a place is packed. The friendly waitress found us a table and we had menus inn moments and entrees in minutes!! Fantastic service all evening actually, with a special mention to Tony for help with the dessert selection. Getting ahead of myself ...
We had tuna patties and a calamari salad for entree, with nasi goreng and beef rendang for mains, washed down with lemon lime and bitters and followed by sago with brownie and panacotta and ice cream. All the food was fresh, flavoursome, beautifully presented and served quickly. I highly recommend you try this little gem of a place.

I think the food was very good. Particularly enjoyed the entree tasting plate. Great value if sharing with 2 people as you get a piece of almost everything on the entree menu. And it was all very yummy.
The chicken curry was good but I will admit I'm no expert on curries and am always limited on options because I don't like spice. Pandan rice was something different and I really like it (albeit $6 for a serve is too much I think).
The most interesting thing was the Black Glutinous Rice Cake - it literally had shaved cheese on top of the cake! Was bizarre! But I still like it. Not the usual super sweet dessert that I normally get - the cake was dense and pretty moist but not very sweet.
I think the decor is cool but it's chilly in winter. Also the tiny tables for 2 are too small! I also had a plant in my face and nowhere to put my jacket...
The staff were very nice though, no complaints on service.
Love the menu at Nasi Lemak - great range of foods and flavours, something to please every one. The store is super busy, so definitely recommend making a booking beforehand. Will definitely be coming back to try more items on the menu.
Recommended by a friend from Curtin Uni. So went there to try out with a few friends. Firstly the service was excellent. We ordered Beef rendang, Nasi lemak and chicken curry. They were all very tasty. At first we were a bit surprised with the price but at the end we were all happy. Will definitely go back to try put other dishes.
Service is good. Food is food but just a bit small portion. The atmosphere is very romantics. Asam laksa is very spicy. Nasi lemak is very nice.
Came on a weekday night and was asked if we have made any table reservation. Luckily we came in early, as after 10-15 mins it was packed with people.
Nasi lemak was awesome and authentic; mee goreng wasn't that tasty though. I would recommend to try the Assam curry fish as it is quite tasty and coconut milk-ish. :)

Yum yum yum! Visited this place on a Sunday arvo for lunch... Busy but staff were great and food was out quick! Nasi goreng was so delish! As much sambal as you want, which is also super yummy! We tired the roti canai, not as good as the roti canai from papa rich, but the Dahl was very tasty! Can't wait to go back and take friends!
A girlfriend and I ate here the other night (tues) and we were very happy with both the food and the service. The staff were happy and attentive which always helps. We ordered a tasting plate as well as the special meal which was an Assam laksa which came with a drink. They even halved the drink for us because they knew we were sharing it. It was the first time I was there and I'll be back. My friend has been there before and recommended it. I just can't work out how this place hasn't scored higher than a 3.
Nasi Lemak was good, quite possibly the second best I've had in Perth, I requested extra sambal which was not provided, and received a quoted price over the phone for my takeaway which was different to the price when I got to the restaurant - they have a public holiday surcharge which hadn't been factored in over the phone. No apologies for the price difference. Apart from that appear to be friendly, pleasant staff. Good quality food.
Over all, I was sufficiently impressed by the quality of food at Nasi Lemak Korner and that made me wonder; why is the rating for Nasi Lemak Korner so low on Zomato? Sure the price range was not the cheapest and neither was it easy to get a table, but the food was sufficiently satisfying!
I am only rating 3.5 as I haven't dined in yet. My friend picked up some takeaway.We had beef rendang which was amazing. Melt in your mouth meat, wonderful sauce and flavour and a pretty generous serving although I am not sure how much we paid. Next was the Assam Fish Curry with tamarind sauce. Unfortunately we all found it a bit fishy. We tried some rice cooked in pandan leaves which was lovely and an $8 side salad that was super cooling and refreshing and good value for the price. Look forward to dining in and trying the nasi lemak. Will definitely reorder the rending, pandan rice and salad.

Customer service is excellent. Food wise, I prefer the Mee Goreng rather than Nasi Lemak. Even though signature dish should be Nasi Lemak. Huge portion of food, maybe comparing to the price, it's reasonable. Nasi Lemak have to be improved :)
Good, affordable meal for the family. The bill came to $57 and five of us were fed for that price; we ordered two mains with rice and two entrees to share. The beef rendang was tasty, although I found a few pieces were gristley and it could have been spicier but as I said it was tasty enough. The vege spring roles were nothing fab, likewise with the prawn fritters. The vege noodle dish was tasty. Would like to return to try the roti which is only available on the weekends.
Nasi Lemak that lives up to the name. Beef rendang that's melts in your mouth with a very rich gravy, much better than the franchise Malay that's popping up all over Perth. Salad was to die for really helps cut through the spice and richness of the Nasi Lemak and beef rendang. Only let down was the Roti Canai which wasn't very fluffy but quite buttery, also didn't come with Sambal
One of the best Malaysian cafe/restaurants we have dined at in Perth. Food really great with that home cooked taste. Presentation spot on as was the service, efficient and friendly! The entrees were a little on the small size however the beef murtabak and curries well portioned. The rendang was perfectly spiced - always a good curry to compare - this was exceptional! Definitely happy to return to this well priced neighbourhood gem!

Visited(for the first time) on a recent Saturday for lunch. Booked online. We received a friendly welcome & ushered to our reserved table. Great ambience & setup. The food was excellent, a good example of Malaysian "street food". A good balance of spicy & tasty. Ordered Satay Chicken & Chilli Beef Noodle Salad as entrees. Beef Randang(the best) & Mee Goreng Mamak for mains. No desert, no room! The down side, the price of sparkling water at $7.00/bottle. However, we'll be back.
The second time I've been here and it was actually better than the first 👏🏻👏🏻 We ordered nasi lemak with rendang curry and mee goreng mamak. Both were really good👌🏻👌🏻 I ordered a three layer milk tea and it was also good🍹The only thing I didn't like was the mocktail. It was so icey and watery, with not a very strong flavour. The service is very friendly and efficient. The design inside is good, although it gets very noisy and difficult to hear each other. Would return in the future 💯
A tiny Malaysian eatery hidden in como which serves a tasty authentic Malaysian cuisine. I had a cold teh Tarik which is a tea with condensed milk. I loved it. For dinner we had the fish Assam (fish curry and lady finger), roti canai (flaky flat bread with dal and sambal) chicken nyonya curry, turmeric rice and coconut rice. We had a durian strudel and a brown sugar sago pudding in coconut milk for dessert. 7star and hi5 cuisine and service. Absolute warm ambiance and by far the best authentic Malaysian taste
My family ordered Nasi Goreng Chicken, Satay (Beef), Traditional Nasi lemak, Nasi Lemak with Sambal Sotong, Murtabak Daging and Durian Strudel as desserts. The food were delicious and we love the friendly staffs too.
Really nice venue for a authentic Malaysian eatery. Obviously, ordered the Nasi Lemak - and had both the Chicken and the Rendang. There wasn't enough Sambal on the dish, however the staff were obliging in bringing more when asked. The dish itself was fairly standard, nothing horrible but nothing spectacular either. As others have mentioned, there are many other places in Perth that serve better Nasi Lemak for cheaper. Roti was ok too. Will consider coming back, but not in a rush.
I've heard from a friend that there's a good nasi lemak in town so I went there on a Sunday lunch to give it a try. Surprisingly the staffs were really friendly & the service was quick. I was having their signature nasi lemak, it's super tasty! Definitely one of the best Malaysian restaurant here in Perth :)

Excellent Malaysian food!! Big portions, the roti was incredible and flaky and perfect so definitely go on a weekend when they serve it :) Beef noodle salad entree was also great, and easily big enough for a main.
Price wise its on the high side but considering the setting and environment it is reasonable.
Food and drinks are good but you can get the same deliciousness at spice express myaree and rasa sayang cafe thornlie.
Overall quite satisfied.

Very impressed overall with Nasi Lemak for dinner tonight, we were just driving through the area looking for somewhere to eat and as both my husband and I are fans of Malaysian food we decided to give this place a go.
The place was rather empty but were told on arrival they were fully booked but still managed to find a suitable (for heavily pregnant woman) table for us.
The male waiter who seated us and took our order was just lovely!
We ordered a serve of Roti Canai, beef mutabuk and nasi lamak with beef rendang.
The roti was some of the nicest I have had in Perth, the right balance of chewiness and cruchiness, my only disappointment was that it was served with dhal rather than mutton or chicken curry sauce and the serving was a little small.
The murtabak was as expected and very tasty, enjoyed the red onion accompaniment, however I was envious of my husbands nasi Lemak.
The nasi Lemak was really nice with spicy and flavoursome sambal, crunchy nuts and anchovies and usual rice. The beef rendang was really the star of the dish with its strong coconut curry flavour and right amount of spice. I wish I'd ordered this!
Yes the cost of the meals were a little exorbitant for Malaysian cuisine, but its definitely the service, ambience and food quality you are paying for. There are cheaper places around but you will sit on a plastic chair, with cheap dinnerware and order at a counter, just a different dining experience.
Also wish this place was licenced (for when I'm not pregnant and we return) as a nice cold tiger beer would perfectly accompany the meal.
The food was authentic and delicious, the waiters were fun and very attentive and the restaurant itself was beautifully set up. We will most definitely be going back for more!

From a Malaysian's point of view , the food tasted average but it is definitely one of the best Malaysian restaurant here in Perth ! I tasted the mee goreng, they were really generous with the ingredients and the prawn was fresh !
Came here today for the first time. We tried the traditional nasi lemak, mee goreng mamak and chicken satay. Unfortunately the satay was a lil disappointing but the other two dishes were tasty! Can't wait to try their beef rendang next time!

Found this gem! Awesome nasi lemak, perfect sambal and reasonably priced. Ambience is great and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. Definitely making this place a regular to satisfy my Malaysian cravings!
Malaysian say SHIOK NYA!! Amazing authentic nasi lemak. Beef rendang is tender and dissolves in your mouth. The sambal is Perfect.

Great little place; very humble decor and yet it looks really cool, it makes me feel so welcome. I ordered the Nasi Lemak with beef rendang. What can I say??!!!! The beef is so tender and tasty, the rice has mild coconut flavour, the sambal is just right. I really want to order other dishes but I have to wait for my next visit. As for dessert, i must have the durian strudel. OMG!!!! Very nicely done! I am not a fan of durian but this is something that I will order again during my next visit (soon).
Ordered the beef rendang & nasi santan. It's really good and tasty! We also ordered the durian struddle and sago melaka for dessert. Not a big fan of durian but the sago melaka is very yummy. A heart-warming meal for a cold night :)
I was craving for Nasi Lemak for weeks! The Nasi Lemak was good, the peanuts and ikan bilis could have been better though. What I was pleasantly surprised about was the fact that all the chicken pieces we got were boneless 👍🏼 Value wise, I feel their stuff is a bit pricey, but craving well and truly satisfied.
Lovely, knowledgable staff, a gorgeous space and traditional honest food. We weren't going to head out this particular evening but when I told my partner about a newish place just round the corner serving tasty Malaysian home cooking, we were out the door in no time! I tried the Mee Goreng Mamak featuring juicy prawns, chive fritters and a whole lot of spice. The dish was delicate and lovely with just the right amount of zing! My partner went for the Vegetable Kurma and the flavour was perfect! We will be for sure.

For guys who haven't visited this place, go and taste the scrumptious and authentic morsies. I went last night in a table of six. We had a seafood tasting plate to start which was ok, three of us had nasi lemak with lemongrass prawn skewers ( possibly a little stingy on the prawn side -please one more skewer!!) but the flavour of the sambal was nice and not too hot on the chilli side-unlike the one you get in Malaysia! so really lovely to mix with the rice, anchovies, peanut and egg it comes with. Rice was really fluffy. Other members of the party enjoyed a tasty beef rendang, fish curry (this was my partners so I was able to sample more of this tasty deliciousness) and traditional chicken curry, all generous serving sizes and fluffy turmeric rice.BYO - tick, Inexpensive -tick, Attentive service-tick.The only (little criticism) is the music, please no Adele or Mark Ronson (even tho I like do like to sing along to them in the car or otherwise) not when I'm eating delights from Malaysia. Can we have some tunes from the country?I cant wait to come again!
Quality of food is outstanding and so is the atmosphere and service. Although the dishes are on the pricier side, the quantity and quality is definitely there. Same owners as the Hangout Cafe next door.
Fresh, delicious and very traditional Malay food, would highly recommend. I had the beef rendang- meat fell apart and was a deceiving but huge serving I couldn't finish it all. Staff were lovely could have done with a few more on as there was only two people welcoming/ seating people, taking orders and making drinks and running food for a full house. Took 20 minutes to get some wine glasses, no biggie. Awesome food and I'll be back. Finally como!
Came to check this place out from Pennae recommendation :D very nice settings, love their decor and ambience... Staffs are very friendly, food came out quite fast too even though it was busy... We all ordered nasi lemak with their add on of sambal chicken, ayam goreng and rendang. Overall nice food and presentation, the only downside is the price... It is more that we usually pay for a nasi lemak
Been going there quite a bit for the past few weeks, staff are really friendly and I like the decor of this place. Selections of dishes are quite limited and slightly overpriced. My fav is their Pulut Inti. Sticky rice was done to perfection and the sweet potatoes are delish! I'm a huge fan of durian but got quite disappointed at the durian strudel, there was a very very thin layer of durian and the pastry is soggy.
The food was really good- soft shell crab salad for two, roti, and a delicious sago pudding for dessert. I am sceptical when it comes to desserts that aren't overloaded with chocolate, but their sago pudding with a "light brownie" was just amazing- I keep thinking about it days and weeks after having it! Their staff are great BUT the tables are very close together and it's really loud and noisy for such a small place. The layout is a little weird. They need to invest in some acoustic sound absorption panels to make this work. The plants are a little weird between the tables, given the tables are so close together- I guess there are trying to create privacy between tables, but there are other ways which can also help with the acoustics. Overall happy experience for a cheerful local.
Absolutely lovely! Stopped by on a Sunday night after noticing it packed with people the weekend before! Had no booking but were welcomed warmly! Ordered the satay chicken for entree and have never experienced chicken so tender (absolute delish) the beef rendang and the chicken dish for mains are highly recommended!! 10 stars to this restaurant!! You have new fans!
I think opening an asian restaurant is extremely tough as there are so many cheap options out there. Despite being a fraction more expensive than some other malaysian restaurants (those with melamine crockery) I think it's a good balance between expensive 'fine-dining' style malaysian resturants and the cheaper ones (that are great for a quick feed but not really somewhere you would bring invite family/friends to).
I love that they don't have a ridiculously long menu and some of the items have a good 'kick' of chilli. The sambal is just amazing and I could have licked that roti tisu off the plate! Delicious! The service was great and the ambiance is a little bit urban and funky. Best of all, you can pop in for a pre-post drink next door at Hangout on 20.
My husband and I went for lunch today and it was really pleasant.Good service and the nasi lemak rice is good, the chicken curry is still a work in progress. I spoke to Dave, their friendly waiter and he welcomed any constructive tips for the chef. Try the sago gula melaka - it has a modern take on the traditional gula melaka, not as sweet but it is good. The roti canai is excellent. The cafe is modern and funky and in a great local location for students and for a casual catch up. It will definitely be on our list for a Saturday or Sunday meal.
Absolutely recommend it.

Could not spot the opening hours on zomato for this place and headed on Monday to try this place. It is closed on Mondays. So I snapped a picture so that others can know the restaurant opening times.
Determined to try this place, I headed back on Tuesday. Beautiful decor. A modern and funky place. With beautiful lighting. Not your usual typical Asian restaurant. This place is very modern looking. Love the chairs they use. Since it is now winter, it really feels nice and cosy with the heater switched on inside the restaurant. Just add to the whole ambience.
Price wise was on the high end. A normal Nasi lemak cost $12 with the basic ingredients of cucumbers, half an egg, anchovies, sambal and peanuts. You can order extra ingredients like a fried chicken for extra $4. So that makes this place of basic lemak $16! When I tasted the rice on its own, I did not like the taste and smell of the rice. Only when I ate with the other side dishes - it was very yummy. The chicken pieces cooked to perfection. They used chicken thigh meat so the chicken is not dry at all. Sambal chicken is delicious as well. All the elements complement each other and tasted beautiful on the palate. I actually finished the whole plate of food except coriander which thank goodness they just decorated it on top of the rice, allowing me to push it all aside.
Tried their durian strudel as well with vanilla ice cream. The durian taste and smell was there but pity it was too thinly layered. I gather maybe the cost of this ingredients could be on the high end to allow them to be generous. Pastry was beautiful as well just a little messy when eating as it breaks up and was crumbly. Durian is the king of fruit in Asia and not for the faint hearted. It is an acquired taste. I love the way the chef had tried to add a modern twist to the durian in a strudel form. And it works !
Overall service was good. Staffs were friendly and attentive to the customers.
I enjoyed my dinner. But I must say the bill came up to pretty expensive. Dinner for two - 2 Nasi lemaks, one with extra fried chicken and one with sambal chicken. Dessert to share. Total bill was $44 over. One of the most expensive Nasi lemak I ever had. I guess I will definitely come back to this place but to save it for a little more special occasion on the price factor. But a place worth going to try for good food.
Nice to have a new eating place in Como. Great location, friendly staff & great service. The menu selection is small but the food is authentic. Looking forward to going back.

One night three other people and I decided to try the restaurant, especially since we were long overdue for a proper catch up! We didn't book the restaurant but finding a spot for four on a weeknight wasn't a fuss at all although we saw two long tables with 'reserved' signage on it (oops).
The first thing that caught my attention was the friendliness of the staff at NLK. Under their watchful eye we never lacked of water at all. Additionally, one of them courteously offered to take a group photo of us.
Like other diners who went to NLK, we ordered pasembur to be shared among us and were in awe by the size of it. That explained the $28 cost of the pasembur and it was a perfect entree to be shared among four people, but would of loved it if the peanut sauce was a tiny bit spicier.
Our mains of the night were curry assam fish with yellow rice, beef rendang with yellow rice, mamak noodle and the famous nasi lemak (with addition of beef rendang). When you go to a place called Nasi Lemak Korner, the nasi lemak has got to be up there to live up to its namesake. Thankfully enough, for the most part...it does. The assam fish's gravy tasted really good and the sourness was sufficient and the famous beef rendang had enough spiciness (although we can go for a hotter version ;)). The letdown of the night was mamak noodle that was quite bland in taste in comparison to the rest of the meals.
We were quite full by the end of our main meals, but our two friends decided to end the night with durian strudel. I wasn't a durian eater, so I just tried the feather light strudel pastry. Based on their opinion they couldn't really taste the durian filling.
Now the biggest concern of people who wanted to try NLK was in the price of each meal. Without the dessert and drinks I paid $48 for shared entree, two main meals, good service and seating at a well decorated restaurant. NLK is definitely not a restaurant that you can go to on a daily basis, but it lends its presence as a good social hangout place or as a date night venue.
Food is good but pricey. I had roti telur with a side of rendang. For $12 you get two little pieces of roti and a bowl of dhal. I would need five servings to be satisfied. I also had a side of beef rendang which was great. I also finished a 3/4 plate of mi goreng which was pretty good. Decor is very nice with a beautiful mural on plywood along one side.

So it's still expensive, the tables are still small, and it's difficult to get staff attention (they always seem to have their backs to you) but wow. I loved the food. We suffered from food envy as we saw the mixed entree plates go by, but the murtabak was delicious. The sambal fish, mie goreng, and nasi santan were perfect. Portions were so generous that we took leftovers home.

The sambal here is pretty special - let's hope they follow the trend of eateries selling their in-house condiments! We tried the fish salad ($14), roti canai with curry chicken ($9 + $6), and the beef rendang ($20, comes with rice). I was impressed with the roti canai - light and not greasy - but the dahl it came with was bland compared to the rest of the dishes. The rendang was great and I'll be back to try it with the nasi lemak. At $57 for 1 entree, 2 mains and corkage it's pricey compared to to other Malay restaurants in Perth but beats them hands down for service and ambience. Portion sizes were generous and we walked away planning return trips with family and friends.
It is not often that you can get good Nasi Lemak around Perth and I must say that the Nasi Lemak they serve here is as authentic as it can be, the peanuts and fried anchovies are awesome. I've grown up eating Nasi Lemak back in Malaysia and I will be happy to have this everyday. Can be a little spicy for those who are not used to it but otherwise great flavour. Good environment and friendly staff, definitely worth coming back again!

I had the Traditional Nasi Lemak ($12) with Beef Rendang ($6) as the add on. If you haven’t had Nasi Lemak before, it usually comprises of a coconut flavoured rice served with egg, fried peanuts and anchovies with house special sambal sauce. When I first had the Nasi Lemak during my first visit, I thought that the rice could be more fragrant in coconut flavour. However, during my recent visit, they seemed to have took on feedback from customers and the rice was more flavoursome with a more stronger coconut flavour. If you love it spicy, you will love the sambal and beef rendang too. The beef rendang was tender and had a good chilli kick – perfect for this cold, wintry weather!

Been twice now - Week night dinner and came back for weekend lunch to try their roti menu (which is available on weekends only).
My favourites are the nasi lemak with beef rendang (has quite a bit of kick to it!), chicken satay and the roti canai with chicken curry. From their dessert menu, the roti tisu and the apam balik (sweet corn and peanut crepes with grilled banana) were way too sweet for my liking. Since they are just newly opened, I hope they tone down the sugar levels.
Drinks wise, had the teh tarik which was good and had a decent tea flavour to it. Love the funky modern decor - Service is friendly and efficient.
Though it's a bit pricier than your average malaysian restaurant in Perth, it suits the area well and overall is a good addition to the Como strip.
We had the Beef Rendang & Fish Curry, and thought that the meals were absolutely delicious. For me, it was the best Rendang I’d had since a holiday in KL. The service was really good, and atmosphere bubbly. The waiter/maître d' and waitress were very attentive. We’ll be back soon to try the laksa next.
High quality service for excellent value. Food was okay but nothing spectacular. Maybe a bit on the bland side. Tasting plate is highly recommended.
