Review Funtastico - Perth

Marsala Fusilli
Wasn’t very impressed. Ordered arancini balls ($18) with extra aioli because it didn’t come with any then when it came out they forgot the aioli so I had to ask them for it again and they brought it out late and still charged me extra for it. I got pan fried gnocchi with tomato, bocconcini and basil ($29). Pretty disappointed with it- the gnocchi portions were like the size of my fist and I didn’t see/taste any basil, there was hardly any bocconcini and they should have said tomato sauce on the menu instead of tomato.

Had some delicious pasta dishes here and they have lots of different pizzas too. Casual place with indoor and outdoor seating.

Nice and cozy place, with friendly staff. Delicious italian food.

Fantastic service, the waitresses and manager are so friendly and so attentive. The welcome they give you is warm and the way they host their guests is so genuine! I felt like having Italian so I looked up the google reviews and we decided to give this place a try. I ordered the creamy penne and it was nice but what blew me away was the service. We definitely recommend this restaurant and we certainly will be back.

Great friendly service, great quality food! Fantastico!

The food was delicious. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the meatballs melted in my mouth. The husband and wife duo of Andrea and Jenny manage the floor with elegance, warmth and authenticity. They make you feel like you’re in a family restaurant in Italy. Highly recommended.

AMAZING restaurant !!!we celebrated my nephews birthday, we were 16 people the dinner was perfect. The staff was welcoming and the service was quick. I’m ready impressed, the food was no less than five stars end the Pascucci coffee was delicious, is my favourite!!!!

Enjoyed a delicious shared meal prior to a show at The Regal. Could not fault the service and the food was brought out very quickly. The aranccini balls and the gnocchi were superb as were the pizzas. Our group of 8 has no complaints whatsoever and I am sure we will definitely revisit. Thanks!

Very disappointed after hearing good things about this place. Food average at best I must say bordering on down right plain. Ribs were dry and not tender at all. Tasting plate of salsiccio was like it came out of a mass cafeteria kitchen. No style oe flair about it at all. Worst thing was the service. For a Tuesday night with only 5 tables occupied, I had to ask where our drinks were 20 minutes after ordering. One beer and one coke is not that hard especially when the bar staff seem to be polishing the same glass over and over.

I dine at Funtastico regularly (or just drop in for a drink) and being in hospitality myself I find it consistently wonderful experience each time I visit. The friendly service is backed up with great food & a drinks list second to none. I highly recommend Funtastico next time you are in Subiaco. Parking is easy and you won't be disappointed.

Amazing place with amazing staff. Went there for the first time for my friends birthday and the service was just wonderful. Very attentive and joyful staff. We were looked after by Andrea and his wife Jenny and they were just the best.

Had a lunch here today, the food was beautiful the service good. Went to pay at the end the older guy with grey hair served us, rude zero people skills went to use our entertainment card were told we can’t use it. We ordered 1 main a pizza entree gnocchi & a bottle of wine. Apparently because one of meals was a lunch special at $19 for a pasta we could not use card. Should probably be some info about that beforehand. I think it’s time to retire the old guy, I won’t be coming back shame cause the food was good.

Delicious food, love the crab pasta - best in Perth! There’s a great variety on the menu but a few of our favorites are the gnocchi, lamb ribs, any pizza, you really can’t go wrong.

We had dinner at Funtastico last night with good friends and the food and service was exceptional. Andrea and his wife who work there together both gave us the best service and it was made all the more fantastic because they could actually make recommendations and describe what the dishes were made up of - many times you ask the wait staff at restaurants about a dish and they don't know so they have to go find out. We have just arrived back from Italy last week and it was great to hear their Italian accents and genuine attentive manner just like in Italy. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the suggested wine. We will definitely be back again. Grazie for a great night.

I love this place. The service is the best and the food is to die for.

Had dinner with a friend and ordered the $45 steak. I asked for it to be medium well done 1. Because I like my steak like this and 2. I am pregnant! I was seriously disappointed after my first few bites to find that it was actually cooked medium. When the waiter came over and asked if everything was ok and to collect our plates, I informed her that my meat was actually not cooked to how I requested it. She politely apologised and carried on. If the customer isn't happy due to their meal not being cooked the way they requested it, good service would be to offer them a complimentary drink or dessert or even take the meal off the bill. Unfortunately for me, an apology didn't cut it for a $45 steak not cooked the way I requested.

Best Marinara EVER!! Definitely going back to this place!! Great food - great service! Definitely recommend this place.
Karl Batorski
Great service and great food! The customer service is excellent and the staff are very friendly.

A place to go to for any occasion.. A girls night out, A corporate work lunch or a casual family catch up.. This is your place to go.. Excellent service and food to die for!! #bringingfuntiback!!

it was quiet as they were waiting for the post football crowd. The staff were very attentive, polite and helpful! We shared the calamari and a starter and it was tender and sweet with out being oily, the aioli was fresh and light. I had the twice cooked duck with mash and it was delicious, tender and tasty, melting off the bones. My husband had the pasta of the day a beef ragout with spicy sausage on tagliatelle which he thoroughly enjoyed. We always enjoy Funtastico!
Catherine Vanderwoude
Lovely waitstaff. Rude manager who unfairly wouldn't let me use entertainment card, even though it was actually within the terms of use. Lukewarm food. Underwhelming overall.

This month saw a repeat visit to Subiaco restaurant Funtastico. I’ve been there a handful of times now and have always had a great time. I can always rely on simple, quality food and thanks to a great host, I’ve often made new friends with other diners.

Awesome italian food with great service, my wife and I love this place. Always quality fresh food and great wood fire pizzas and staff are very polite, overall one of the best in subiaco

My friend and I went there on a Saturday night, without booking and were welcomed warmly. We got a table without a problem, although they seemed to be quite busy.<br/><br/>Food was delicious and the portions are good by my opinion. Pizza had a great crust and really was one of the tastiest I've had in a while. The meatballs were the softest I've ever had, anywhere. Really great food and I'll happily return on another occasion to try out the rest.<br/><br/>My friend and I both loved the waitstaff. They were busy but absolutely lovely the whole time we were there.
Matt_from_Preston
The place was quiet at 6pm on Saturday but was starting to fill up slowly and by 7pm it was quite busy. The Italian wait staff were excellent and friendly and got everything just right. The seafood spaghetti was excellent and came piping hot out of the cartouche into the bowl. The penne with chicken and gorgonzola was also said to be delicious. The menu is a bit pricey for pasta but the food quality and service made up for this. Would recommend for good Italian food in Subiaco.<br/>

After seeing all the 5 star reviews for Funtastico I was really excited to try this restaurant. Upon arrival, the diligent service and vibrant atmosphere set the tone for a wonderful night, but sadly the food didn't live up to my high expectations.  <br/>I ordered the ravioli which was stunning. It was light and fluffy with strong flavours that played perfectly off each other. However, it was way too small. I usually struggle to finish mains at restaurants yet I gulped this down in minutes. For a $30 dish I expected almost double what I got. Compared to the amount of food I have received at other similarly priced Italian restaurants in Perth, it fell short. <br/>My boyfriend ordered the Cotelleto di Maile which, despite the fancy Italian name, was indistinguishable from a pork loin from any standard pub. The meat was perfectly cooked and full of flavour - just nothing special. <br/>Funtastico is clearly a local favourite but slightly underwhelmed me this time. The menu is promising and I may return one day to try more dishes.

Funtastico Restaurant has been around for a long time, and I have been going there three or four times a year for almost as long. Always the service is polished, professional and helpful. The food is well prepared and presented. The pizza's are delicious as are the pastas. There is a good range of wines and beers ensuring most diners leave happy.<br/><br/>Looking forward to being back there next Thursday evening, amongst the busy and warm atmosphere that makes this place 'funtastico'.

Nice food and ambience, friendly staff, must tried spaghetti ala vongole and pizza <br/>good location to chill with friends, like to comeback again 😃

The staff here are fabulous and the food is among the best Italian in Perth...people who eat well eat Italian LOL but yes seriously good place to enjoy yourself and great food at the same time👍

Partner and I trying to find a place to eat in Subi before our moonlight movies.<br/>Hadn’t eaten here before so decided to try it. <br/>Pasta was Devine!!! I could of had a whole another serve to myself. Ordered the blue swimmer spaghetti with cherry tomatoes. <br/>The pasta tasted so fresh and the crab also fresh. It didn’t taste like it was out of a packet. <br/>The pizza was nice but pasta was the definite stand out. We will return again for some more authentic Italian bites.
Take Me To Foodie Heaven
We had the Taglierini e Crab which comprises of blue swimmer crab, cherry tomato and chilli in shellfish sauce. The pasta was cooked perfectly to al dente and there was an abundance of crab meat in sight. It’s delicious with each twirl of pasta exhibiting a great flavour of spice, flavourful shellfish sauce and juicy burst in your mouth cherry tomato. Simply fantastic and fabulous!

Went here for our first wedding anniversary. We were disappointed with the food as we had a high expectation. Ordered their scallop, Taglierini e Crab, Risotto Pescatore and Steamed Vegetables. Their pasta was a bit tasteless as it didn’t taste spicy at all even though they had chilli in their shellfish sauce. Risotto was okay. Scallop was nice. Initially, we requested to be seated in a quiet spot but we ended up sitting next to a large group and the place wasn’t even half full on a Sunday night. We wouldn’t come back again.

Funtastico in Subiaco has been around for a good long while. In a suburb that has seen a lot of change in recent years, this restaurant has been a constant fixture. The restaurant has changed hands along the journey, but more recently the family that ran Funtastico from 2002 to 2007 has resumed ownership, with previous manager Nicky Tangney.

This is my go-to place after the footy.  I'm happy to line up and usually don't have to wait for long. The kitchen is super-organised and the food and service quality is really good given the pressure they are under.  I hope it manages to survive once the footy moves.
Chris.anthony
Came in last week honestly best Penno Pollo I've had so far. It was quick and nice service didn't wait too long for someone to take my order. Would definitely recommend

We used to be regulars here as food is ok, and we are local, even though food is overpriced. tried to book a table  for my sons 10th birthday, and booking was refused, even though they had space, as they don't want children there. never going back. what an awful business model
Danny G
This is a non-review. Came down to say farewell to a friend stopped in for coffee and cake around 845pm the footy was just out we stood in the short line. Then we're seated to wait for a table in what was an almost empty restaurant. Then the footy crowd appeared and we were told to move on because we weren't doing a full meal. Not very nice and my wife told them as much.

Unprofessional and rude, upon arrival my pregnant fiancè was denied the table she wanted as the waitress said they would  be very busy. Even though the tables were not reserved and by the end of the meal nobody had sat there so her father told the waitress he was not impressed to which she started yelling at him in the middle of the restaurant.. will not be going back thats for sure.
Karen Smith
Terrible, Awful, will not be returning. As a young pregnant woman I wanted a nice dinner with my parents and fiànce, we walk in and i request a seat on the couches and we are denied as the blonde waitress replies they will be busy. Not only are the tables not reserved and she was super rude but by the end of the meal nobody had sat there, so my father tells her it was unprofessional and she starts yelling at him in the middle of the restaurant. Couldn't believe such a once great restaurant hired a woman like her who has 0 customer service and such an attitude.
Richard
Fresh delicious food and so good like the ol' days. Really tasty dishes and authentic Italian. Friendly helpful staff and great vibe. Varied menu with lots of options. Wood fired pizza! Will definitely be back
Lara Harris
went for dinner nice place and atmosphere . we ordered pizzas and was good (nothing special) a little bit pricey in respect of what we received.
Debra Langham
Could not honour our booking for a table of 4 inside, as 1 person was unable to make it, were offered a table for 3 outside on the street pathway.   Being Adele concert, did leave us much choice.  Booking was originally booked until 5.30, but got told to leave at 4.50pm as the table for 3 was booked.  Terrible way to treat new customers.  Food was fantastic, but leaves alot to be desired with Customer Service by the owner.

Great food. Great service. Couldn't have asked for better. Octopus starter was to die for. I asked for an off the menu dish of plain spaghetti with garlic and oil and they were very accommodating.
HappyPants
Very very average food and service for the $$$ they charge. The menu is a bit boring... only because it is located in the main shopping street doesn't mean it can last without providing top quality food. Four of us ordered a steak, octopus, lamb ribs, risotto of the day, seafood platter (deep fried battered prawns, calamari, scallops and fish). None of the dishes made us want to go back again.
Kjtee
This food is just outstanding. We are sick of the same old, same old served at most places these days so it is great to find a restaurant that puts flavour and "fresh" food on your plate. The Chicken Diavola and the Spaghetti Marinara are fantastic and we started with a shared entrée of Scallops on an artichoke puree. We finished with an Affogato and an Espresso Martini  -  simply the best!  Can't beat this place.

Had the worse pasta! Pasta from the packet! Charge us more than it expected! Order 1 beer did not came then 10 mins later we asked when the beer is coming, they charge us 3 beers when they only bring 1, owners is arrogant! No good vibe at all! 1 hr wait for food when no one is there! Would not recommend people there unless u want to be scam! Nearly $100 for 1 main 2 tiny portion share 1 bottle of beer n 1 water!

Went to Funtastico last for the first time since the original owners have taken it back. The food, service and general comfortable feeling of the place was first class. It is casual but up market, the sort of place you feel welcome in. 10 out of 10 for the food, try the chilli mussels and the calamari, both are to die for. Highly recommended.
SweetPoison
We came here on a Thursday night. We were able to walk in without a reservation. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was prompt and attentive. Unfortunately the fish of the day didn't come out as hot as I would have liked. The risotto included 6 large tiger prawns which tasted amazing, however the rest of the dish failed to tantalise. All in all presentation and serving sizes were adequate.

Great wood fire pizzas and great pasta. I love their chili mussels in clay pot. I prefer to go there on weekdays for better service and food.
Evline_v
We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and were given the options to choose where to sit. Wonderful customer service. Good vibes all around. Totally enjoyed the seafood platter! Delicious ribs and spatchcock too. Lovely experience... thank you 😊
LittleGirlBigFood
This used to be the place to be! It is still good but its one of those places that should have stuck to the original menu. <br/>The gnocchi are amazing as are the pastas.
Foodieperth
We came here for lunch on a weekday afternoon and ordered after 5 minutes. I ordered the Spaghetti Marinara served in a 'Cartush' at the table. When our food finally arrived (after 25 minutes of waiting), I noticed it was served in a paper bag, which they removed to reveal the spaghetti. I found the spaghetti really soft and overcooked, it became mush. The seafood was not fresh however the marinara sauce was good.
Kate
Shit management.Arrogant owner/manager and arrogant person as cashier.<br/>Bad food.<br/>Never recommend it to anyone.<br/>It is a place where discrimination is obvious for the manager did not know they were dealing with professional engineers who just happened to earn 100 times more than them and who were just dressed casually.<br/>Terrible experience! <br/>Perth can do much much better than this arrogance filled restaurant whose food is terrible.

My partner and I visited Funtastico on a Sunday night, like we have done few times before. We were taken aback when within 10 seconds of entering the venue we were instructed by a young but severe Italian man to take our “hats off”, accompanied by gestures. Apparently he was oblivious to the cold weather outside and failed to recognize that we were already in the process of taking our jackets and beanies off. The same waiter didn’t seem to take issue, however, with the man who followed in behind us wearing a fedora. Fortunately the waiter who attended to us during our meal was a much friendlier gentleman. The food, as usual was delicious however unfortunately the visit was overshadowed by our obnoxious “welcome” from staff. I ordered the Spaghetti Marinara, not a condescending and unsolicited etiquette lesson.

We hadn't been to Funtastico for quite some time (3 years?) as it used to be very good but then went through a prolonged slump. <br/>We went for a family dinner this week and I was very surprised, expecting mediocre as I remember it had been for a few years but the food was actually really good!<br/>Had a few pizzas to share in the middle for entree which were great, and had the spaghetti frutti di mare for main which was very good; nice seafood & perfectly al dente pasta. Didn't think I'd say it but will certainly be back, even for take away pizzas if anything.
Josh Dimovski
Pleasantly surprised with the food here! didn't expect much as I hadn't heard much about it, but the $45 steak was definitely worth it. Definitely will return
Mimifama
The Marinara was cooked in a paper bag and it came out piping hot, which was what I wanted on a cold winter night. But I noticed the sauce was lacking. Similarly for my hubby's pork and veal meatball ragu, there was hardly any sauce. The chefs should be generous with the sauce. It was the same problem when I had the chilli mussels on my last visit. Please give us more sauce!!!
Asharoonie
It is clear that this venue is family owned and run. The service is personal and warm even when the restaurant is busy. While the menu items aren't particularly creative or innovative they are delicious, beautifully cooked and well balanced. I particularly loved the calamari. It was so soft and buttery I will have to order it again.

Funtastico was FANTASTICO!! Excellent service the whole night, delicious meals, great menu. Welcome staff took into consideration our show time at the regal. Can't wait to go back already. Nom nom nom!! Well done to the team 👌🏼

Whilst waiting for another restaurant to open, jumped in here for a drink. Looks very fancy! Expensive menu but looks very appetising! Ordered a cheap 150 lashes just for the time being, and they insist on bringing your drinks to the table, which I thought was a nice touch however it took about 10mins for 1 cocktail and the beer with no other customers. My friend ordered the amaretto sour which I must say was quite delicious, but $24 for shit loads of ice. Staff were friendly. I probably won't be back unless looking for a top meal.
Ines
That place was alright. Didn't get any food because drinks were really expensive themselves and the pricing kept on changing. Asked for an amaretto sour I heard $12 then it turned into $16 and when I was about to pay it had finally reached $24. So $24 for an amaretto sour is not on by my standard especially when it is super acid. Friend got a beer it took also 10 minutes to come and it was just us in the place. Nothing to mention about the staff not super friendly but not unfriendly either. . The location is good but I don't know if I'd go back.

As the name suggest. Went there with my wife last week. Food, service and ambience every thing was spot on. Special thanks to Andre if I remember correctly from service and the old gentleman (owner) for making our expirence funtastico:)

Funtastico in Rokeby Road was something of a Subiaco institution – but then declined in reputation; however last year it was taken over once more by the original owners who have restored it to its place as a food destination in the suburb. We visited not long after that reincarnation and this week returned to see how things were progressing.

We have been going here for years and have never been disappointed. Tonight was no different, amazing food, great service and atmosphere. We had chili mussels and marinara which was to die for, we ordered more bread just to soak up the juices!
Brussels Sprout
Didn't even know this place existed until today. Standard fare Italian is offered with good service. Pricey by my reckoning, even for Perth. $29.00 for pasta is just way over the top, $33 for risotto ridiculous.
Courtney
Attentive staff and delicious food. I had the Funtastico Pizza, so good, especially the calzone half. Food came out a little slow but the waiter apologised and let us know it would come out soon. I'll definitely go again sometime.

It's been almost 10 years since I've visited Funtastico - it was once the place to be in Subiaco on Friday and Saturday nights with queues to get a table and a lively atmosphere - I visited often.<br/><br/>My memories of the food were fond so I was glad to see some of my favourites still on the menu.  The spaghetti al cartoccio was a generous serve of seafood in a rich tomato sauce with al dente spaghetti and we polished off the lot - all that was missing was some bread to mop up the sauce.  The gamberi pizza which used to come with extra large prawns and a soft buffalo mozzarella was flavoursome but overpowered by too much strong mozzarella and we didn't finish it.  There's a limited number of wines by the glass.  <br/><br/>Overall it was an enjoyable enough meal but it didn't quite live up to my memories.  Service was lovely and attentive.

Was walking along Rokeby road along with a friend and decided to stopover for an unplanned lunch. Tried the potato gnocchi on a bed of Beetroot and goats cheese it was scrumptious. Was very impressed with the front of house staff, they were very warm and friendly. Will definitely be back for a complete meal :)

My wife had been here previously with family members and recommended that we try it together.<br/><br/>At first we weren't sure that we had walked into the right location as the décor had changed since she had last been.  There is a somewhat industrial look to the place with lots of aluminium siding with high ceilinga and concrete floors giving the place an industrial look.  The appearance is rustic using soft, understated colours and unobtrusive decorations.  One can easily manoeuvre between tables to get some one part to another.  The kitchen is open so one can observe all the processes of preparing meals, which applies an additional level of cleanliness.<br/><br/>Even the toilets were very clean though the area looks well used and a little patchy.<br/><br/>The drinks menu is comprehensive with a variety of beers and wines on offer, though I would suggest that more room be given to local breweries and vineyards than big, established names.<br/><br/>A broad selection is available on both daily specials and regular menus.  We chose the lasagne from the lunch menu, with a side order of spiced peas, and the seafood paella.  The paella varies from restaurant to restaurant so we tend to be pleased whichever location we dine in.  Lasagne tends to be something of a treat due to our collective food allergies (we can each tolerate a limited amount of gluten and dairy).  Certainly I have no disappointments with either dish – I finished my lasagne easily and my wife ate her fill of the paella.<br/><br/>Pricing was not unreasonable for a pretentious area like Subiaco – rents are surely outrageous for this area – though a little steep for Perth in general.  Wait staff were friendly and attentive, though  not inclined to hover.  This is a good thing – I don't care to be ordered to enjoy my meal.<br/><br/>Certainly worth multiple visits and positive encouragement.

I went to Funtasico with 2 friends as a random and unplanned lunch on a Friday afternoon and was impressed by an efficient and competent front of house team. The wine list was limited - but the quality was good - and I especially enjoyed the by the glass NZ Sauvignon Blanc! We had the risotto  (potentially a 'death dish') and whilst a tiny bit concerned about the separation of the grains of rice... the flavours were excellent - and the generosity of the scallops in the dish was amazing. With one of my friends ordering the pasta - I can only reflect his feedback of 'very tasty'. Overall - nice venue, efficient service and tasty value for money meals - without being 'wow!'For what they do, Funtastico delivered well executed, VFM meals - and I would happily return again ... knowing full well what the experience would be.

Ahhh! It's good to be back home after a three week pig out in Europe and Singapore. That first day back in the gym with the trainer wasn't too pleasant though. <br/>I was in the mood for spaghetti marinara and there's only ONE place in Perth for it! Funtastico's Spaghetti Marinara cooked in a cartouche is absolutely mouth watering! It's a generous sized dish that's packed full of good quality fresh seafood and a divine napoletana sauce. For those who enjoy a fiery kick to their pasta, ask the waitperson for some sliced red chillies in oil. <br/>Funtastico is also one of the few Italian restaurants where I can indulge in a seafood pasta without worrying about my Crustacea allergy. I'm more than happy to have scallops instead of prawns. <br/>As we're reducing our waistlines, we ordered a side of the rocket, pear and Parmesan salad to mop up the sauce. Gotta have some greens with every meal and never forget to wash it down with Italian beer lol.<br/>Funtastico is worth a visit for delicious Italian pasta, pizza and seafood/meat courses. The wood fired thin crispy crust pizzas are just as good as the ones in Italy.

Possibly the rudest owner we have encountered, we tried to book a table of 10 but were advised they don't take bookings. I arrived at the restaurant 15 mins early to ensure we could get a larger table and was seated but told 3 times that I may have to give up my table even though the place was partially empty. I wasn't offered a drink or menus, as others began to arrive we were told once more we may have to give up our seat..my husband requested the menus and drinks, he was offered a glass which he said yes to and then had to ask another 3 times for the glass. All in all our full party was there within 20 minutes and we were one chair short which staff were not at all perturbed about...granted it was busy but generally service was thoughtless and forgetful and we would have left if it hadn't have embarrassed one of our group who had recommended the place. The food was nice but the staff spoiled the experience for me, I would never go back and would def not recommend it when there are so many better serviced places to go.

Food is still great, thanks to the Chef, but front of house does not live up to the food, the new old owner is to full of himself and forgets we are the customers. I will not be going back.

The best spaghetti marinara I have ever tasted! Was devastated to hear it had closed... So relieved it was only a temporary closure!! Welcome back, I can't wait to come in again.<br/>

Utter shite<br/>Won't be back<br/>Incompetent waiters <br/>Cracking lame jokes because food was late and burnt <br/>Won't be back new owners need to address problems as subi is dying on its arse without this crap

First time back in a long time and it's nothing like I remember... Shame was so good before

Very poor service. Had to wait a long time for service, luckily the food was good. Bit pricey for what it is though. Had a birthday there and waitress tried to clear my plate when i clearly wasn't finished. I stopped her and she remarked rudely that it looked like i had finished. Unnecessary. Third time i went staff were rude again. Havent been back since, there is much more italian around with better service and quality food!

Funghi Al Forno. Delicious crumbed Portabello mushroom. The pesto and sundried tomato compliments it well

Sack the american manager.. I haven't been in funtastico for over 2 years now and what a surprise I got last week.<br/>The previous green décor wasn't the most tasteful but It has now been replaced with a<br/>disgusting orange/red.<br/>We were greeted by the manager who was loud and rude to be frank, we were shoved at a booth at <br/>the back were we had a perfect view of the dirty sink and the dishwasher peeling potatos.<br/>Food was average, service was slow, wine glass was dirty, there just isn't the same atmosphere<br/>there used to be. The staff appeared to be bored and unconcerned, and the manager spent her time prancing<br/>around the restaurant, flirting with male customers and the language from her mouth was just vulgar.<br/>I will never, ever, ever be back. <br/>Also parking cost a fortune.

Not so great.. My husband and I decided to go, after a friend recommended this place for good authentic Italian. Well the food was good more like café food. Not authentic at all. Service was ok, they seemed tired and really bored. Also we were stuck in the corner right next to the switch board. For the prices I expected better.

Great Food. Went on a Thursday night for partner's birthday. I ordered pasta with seafood and he ordered the stuffed chicken. It is expensive, but the food was very nice. The pasta was filled with fresh seafood, so they didn't skimp at all. Service needs imporvement, and it did take a while for the mains to come out. Otherwise, great little place, but not at the top of my list. Worth trying.

Was it an oyster or was it a mussel?

Des. This a great restaurant. It pumps out consistently great food. I go often with my mates and we are never dissapointed, hence we go often. Great service as well, and a reasonably interesting wine list. Some great wines are very well priced
Black Coffee For Me
We have regularly been going to Funtastico for over 10 years. It is a good quality Italian restaurant with fabulous variety menu, including wood fired pizzas and lunch specials.<br/>I'm not sure what other Perth restaurants the people who say Funtastico is expensive are going to. I find it good value for money. There are meals that are more expensive but they are big serve and complete, don't need extra sides. Then there are smaller cheaper meals, so suits the smaller appetite. I have found the food to be consistent and the service very friendly and professional.<br/>Today was as always very good, even though busy with a full house, football crowd. We had a lunch special of crumbed whiting fillets, stuffed with spinach and ricotta and salad $26.00, very tasty. Spaghetti marinara, which had heaps of good quality seafood $34, excellent. A couple of good quality Margaret River Cab Savs, $11 a glass. Finishing with excellent espressos $3.60 each, nothing expensive there.<br/>If you are planning to go on a footy day booking is essential. The food and wine was the best part of today!
Super Bite
GREAT ITALIAN FOOD. We ate there on the weekend. The food portions were large & they certainly did not skimp with the seafood. Service could have been a touch faster but they were playing to a pretty full house. our experience was all in all a good one and I would certainly recommend it to others.
Im Watching You
Sssssnoby female staff. Very strange experience tonight with a female staff member that applied her make up on in-front of the service counter, prancing around the restaurant waiting for customers to acknowledge her. Moving forward...the steak was cooked beautifully and my australus pizza was great even tho it magically appeared 20min after everyone elses. Attitude needs to change in this restaurant, it is a Friday night and not even packed with customers. Its a NO from me!

Never let's you down, service is always spot on . My favourites are the risotto and pasta dishes fresh and delicious and generous serves. I always recommend this restaurant to any of my hungry friends.
James
Consistently Yummy. I've been eating here for over three 3 years. Either lunch or dinner, depending on the start time at the footy. I'm yet to be disappointed with the service, food or the great range of wines. I'm constantly impressed with the service from the knowledgeable staff. They're all well versed in the meals, both menu and specials. Yesterday I had the beef back strap ravioli and pea & ham soup entre, both specials. It was divine. Ill be having that combination again. I highly recommend Funtastico. Its consistently great.

Me and my friends went there for dinner last thursday and we were all excited! As soon as we sat down we got some cold water and a nice french waitress took our order for drinks. It probably took five minutes then we already had our wines even if it was really busy. We ordered a super delicious gambero pizza as an entree and all of us had pasta as mains. I especially loved the faggotini! The timing when we got our mains was perfect and the waitress always took care about us! Really excellent service and excellent food! <br/>There's nothing to complain about this restaurant! It was a perfect evening!

Mmm yeh ok. Good: big servings, rich sauces on the pastas, friendly service<br/>Bad: pricey, drinks even more pricey<br/>Overall: probably not one to put on my regular list

I visited here for a friend's birthday. <br/>The restaurant ambient and decor is for more casual cheerful dining, so no wonder people think their food is overpriced. But their food size is bigger than other restaurant and I was happy with the meal. <br/>One male waiter(Italian?) was great, his service was professional. He rememberd who ordered what meal(professionally write in docket anyway) and served without shouting"fish of the day?!" at table. Only him did that tho, so it wouldn't be the venue standard I suppose.
Talking Tastebuds
Overpriced and if your seated down the back of the restaurant there's an overwhelming smell of wet washing or even plumbing pipes. No parking unless you want to pay a fortune.

Good quality napkins! And Oriana is just lovely...

Lovely Pasta, just like how I remembered. Delicious crab pasta and penne funghi! Came here with a girlfriend after an afternoon at the footy. I had been here years ago (way before Urbanspoon was around!) as a child with my family and always remembered having great food and an awesome time. Was a bit off by the Urbanspoon ratings, but gave it a shot anyway. We ordered both dishes to share, so only came out to $30 each which is quite reasonable for dinner these days. Service was OK- not terrible as other people may suggest, water topped up all night long - plus we were weird and only ordered one pasta to share at first, but realised we were still hungry after finishing and ordered a second one. Not a long wait between order taken and meal delivered. I would come back again :)
Em88
Completely overpriced for unimaginative food that took nearly an hour to arrive after ordering when we were the only people in the restaurant. Won't be going back.
Juan Grajera
Not worth the dough!. Bland, tasteless and overpriced. More rocket than my vegie garden.
Paula Hart
Ho hum. Maybe we ordered poorly, because other tables looked far more interesting. $80 for a mum and kid, no drinks on a Tuesday night, we were certainly expecting more. I had an odd calzone, which was described as ricotta and salami......... hmm loads ricotta, specks of salami and no herbs, garlic or anything to lift it beyond ricotta wrapped in pizza dough. woo hoo NOT.<br/>Staff were nice, but nothing that made me feel that they were interested in my patronage.
Social Moth
Not as good as I remember it.<br/><br/>Was charged $38 to bring my own called for my son's 9th birthday, despite being told this would be ok to bring this when making the booking ....... for 10.<br/><br/>I've heard of corkage, but never cakeage.
Michelle Yvonne
Over priced & bad service. Got the drinks order wrong twice, had to ask 3 times to get tap water & food was slow, boring and bland. No wonder it was empty on a Friday night...
C
This is the third time we have had to wait for our meal as if the order had been lost. Firstly the waiter that brought our wine had absolutely no training on how to serve wine ( it was his first shift so really not his fault rather the fault of the employer for not providing basic service training). He brought one glass to little to the table and proceeded to pour the bottle between three glasses leaving no wine for the fourth glass that was missing. Secondly we waited over 50 minutes for our meals. We order a child's serve of Icecream to come with dinner to keep the toddler entertained while we enjoyed out meal. The Icecream arrived straight away and was devoured long before our meals had even begun preparation. When we raised these concerned with the wait staff they offered free coffees and desert. Some consolation given we had now drank our wine before our meal arrived, lost an hour waiting, there was no way we wanted to stay around for coffee. The manager also denied any responsibilty and claimed that we have 'unrealistic expectations' about length of time for food preparation - mate- if Jaime Oliver can do it for a fraction on the price then maybe you should tear a leaf from his book because you have clearly missed the point of customer SERVICE- there was no service. Appalling. I would advise strongly you walk 50m up the road to grilled and enjoy a burger rather than be insulted by arrogant and condescending management. I'm embarrassed I went back a third time but third strike you're out

Average restaurant. Standard Perth price. Food was ok. The wine was quite good (had a glass of MR Cab Sauv). Service was slightly below average. Food took a long time to arrive considering the restaurant was pretty empty. Waitress was friendly but a bit abrupt. We went with dimmi special but the discount wasn't applied to the bill, we had to remind them. If We're in the area & if it's convinient, we might eat there again but won't go out of our way.
Julia
Nice but pricey. I have lived in the area all my life but never go to Funtastico because it is just so expensive. When urbanspoon offered a 50% off special I jumped at the chance.<br/><br/>Even on a Monday night the place was far from empty; it always seems to be buzzing.<br/><br/>The two of us started with a pizza bianca to share. It was quite nice but nothing extraordinary. I then had the risotto of the day, which was a beautiful seafood risotto, which I ordered minus the scallops. It was wonderfully rich and creamy and tasted very fresh. The portion was very generous and they did not skimp on the seafood.<br/><br/>Despite being terribly full we couldn't go past a tiramisu. It was a real highlight, so delicious and creamy. <br/><br/>I would definitely love to go back, however the prices would usually rule it out. Maybe for a special occasion.
Peter Hugall
Very good. Went back for the pizza after suffering the worlds worst wood fired pizza at my golf club. The first one we ordered from our excellent waitress Sinead was ok but had a soggy base, not brilliant. Said this to Sinead upon her return.she commented that some people like a soggy base to their pizza. But that if we wanted a crisp base then Pasquale can do this if requested. We did this and the following two were outstanding especially the prawn one. We had sweets .icecream ok but the tiramisu only just ok.i think the tiramisu maker should visit la lolla (another excellent restaurant) and try theirs because it doesn't get any better.<br/>All in all, found fantastic fantastic @ will be back. Make sure you request crisp base for the pizza. We only ate pizza this time but the table next door had the lamb racks. They looked good & they told me that they were very happy.<br/>Peter Hugall October 23rd 2013.

Overpriced Food was nice bu.... Overpriced<br/>Food was nice but the ambiance wasn't quit right for the prices they were charging.<br/>There only seemed to be one waiter allowed to serve you. We were kept waiting for a long time for everything whilst other staff stood behind the bar and polished glasses and cutlery.<br/>The food was nice but after paying $12 for parking and such an expensive meal we won't be eating in Subi again. There are nicer places on St.Georges Terrace doing steaks for the price of a pasta here.<br/>Subi is just so run down. The most expensive parking in Perth, weeds growing through the car park pavements, stepping through broken glass and boarded up shops - Midland is nicer kept.
Mr Harris
Thumbs up. Been here a few times and apart from some of the rude staff the place almost always has great food. love their cold cuts and their pizza.
Laurie Simmons
Went in there for lunch this afternoon, and had the whiting filets. They were absolutely beautiful and the waitress who took our orders was very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be going back there soon ! Good job !
Billbillbill12399999
Very below average not impressive. Went in there and had a pizza and pasta. Pizza was extremely doughy and pretty tasteless. Was extremely disappointed to say the least. Pasta was equally as bad! Worse still was the staff. I am not sure I have ever experienced a staff that is more rude than this place! They act like they are rock gods who are totally put out to take you order. Took over an hour for food to arrive with vitally no one in this restaurant. Not impressed.
Paul
Absolutely disgusting service<br/>Walked in and there is this terribly rude guy behind the bar. Thought he just had bad day. Ordered, then proceeded to walk to back with my mate. The restaurant was virtually empty with maybe 4 people in total. Sat down and immediately the manager came swearing in a blinding rage screaming if you are going to sit crooked on the seat you can leave. This was done with every swear word I can think of!!!! He was actually spitting as yelled. My mate said that we just ordered and would like his money back. He said he can't do that. My mate said well we just paid for it and the money should be refunded. He opened his till then threw the money at my friend. I told him I would never set foot in his restaurant again. It was the most horrific dining experience in my life!!! Please, whatever you do do not enter that place unless you like to be abused and treated like an animal!!!
Richard
From the minute we walked in, the service was horrible. The waitress was rude and cold. She came to take our order a minute and a half after we sat down and was annoyed that we weren't ready. We ordered our drinks then our food but they came out in the wrong order. I've never heard if the food beating the drinks. When we asked if our drinks were on the way she seemed annoyed that we asked. Overall a really bad experience. Definitely wont be going back.
Hannah
2nd time a winner!. I recently went to Funtastico last week and my partner and I had not been there since last year as we had a bad experience.<br/><br/>We decided to give it one last go as we live so close by. We could not be happier. The children were greeted by the owner who offered us children size portions for the kids which they loved and the service was far better than the last experience. <br/><br/>I enjoyed the crab pasta which was lovely and my partner had a steak. Little pricy, but the quality was outstanding and worth the expense. <br/><br/>Its got better since the old lady left who we heard swearing at staff the last time we went there, and the staff seem to smile a bit more as well!!!!!<br/><br/>Give it a go!

Needs new management. I used to be a regular in funtastico in the past few years.<br/>I visited last thursday for the first time in 6 months<br/>I was utterly shocked at the service and wait considering the<br/>restaurant was so quiet<br/>I put this down to the departure of the previous manager AnneMarie who was always friendly, attentive and appeared to run a tight ship when staff was concerned<br/>The man who greeted us seemed put out and uninterested in our custom and the bar area was cluttered with young staff members hugging and chatting ,definately not the most professional greeting in the world!!<br/>Food was delicious but def not worth waiting 55 minutes for a few pasta dishes!! The girl who cleared our plates did not even ask if we wanted coffees or dessert so we had them elsewhere.<br/>Decent food but terrible atmosphere listening to the chefs cursing and shouting at eachother, the wait staff gossiping, horrendous night club music, and the toilets i wouldnt even use due to their dirty and smelly appearance<br/>I will most definately not be returning here<br/>Such a shame funtastico!!!
Jordi
Worst customer service. ever. disgusting owner. disgusting service. do not go here.
Sally
Food is good . Hope you like waiting .
Suzie
Over price, food was very slow, not enjoy the food at all never go back again
Lickthespoon
Mouth watering ragu!. Happened to be in Subiaco with a friend looking for a bite to eat and stumbled upon Funtastico. The restaurant wasn't busy with the only other occupants seemingly owners / managers having a meal outside. Wait staff were a little bit slow off the mark (took a while to come and take our drink order and meal order considering they weren't busy) but food came out quickly. A bottle of wine, fettucine al ragu and fish of the day (crumbed and stuffed with feta) were very well received! Would definitely go back for the food - the ragu meatballs are mouth watering!
IReview
Still a winner. Went for lunch last week after about a 5 year gap, it's still excellent, the food and service were both superb. I had the risotto special of the day with prawns. At last it's great to get a good quality prawn in a dish for once. Others had the gnocci beef special which was very well recieved. The waitress was very helpful and attentive and the other staff were also friendly and professional. The only downside was that they don't do a kids menu (or it wasn't offered to us) which meant my young daughter had to order a full size pizza which she only managed 3 slices, the upside was the staff boxed it up for us and we had it for dinner!! I'm definatley not going to be leaving it another 5 years before returning.

Unfortunately we went to Funtastico recently for lunch for the first time. Appalling service, dirty plates and the restaurant smells. We sat for ages and finally, a very disinterested staff member took our order. 2 glasses of Mad Fish White and 2 entrees. Not hard. ( He forgot to put the order thru.) Another staff member noticed our displeasure as we were going to walk out. The meal came first, the wine second and the bread last!!! ( The wine was great, the food very average)<br/>It was interesting to note the restaurant was only half full on a Friday.<br/>There are many more restaurants that have brilliant service, good food, for the same price. This end of Subiaco is totally lacking. <br/>Never again.
JimmynRozy
I had the carbonara and it was nice, but the tiramisu was to die for!! I don't like tiramisu too strong with coffee flavour, this was subtle and delicious, so creamy!! Yum!!!
Shaun
Last time I will go there. always go there before the footy match. been getting average over time, not enough staff, takes too long to get food, by the time we got the food we had to gulp it down.<br/>Had to keep reminding them about our drinks and the waitress decided to give us a free glass of ice, maybe a message to chill out, very rude. got there early, 2 hours before the match.
John Lourdes
Visited Funtastico for dinner last week haven't been in ages!had a great buzz and managed to get seated in a booth at the back of the restaurant!we were greeted by a stunning Irish waitress she couldn't do enough for us regarding drinks and recommending meals.she was extremely pleasant and very easy on the eyes lol!!our food was sensational I ordered the lamb rump as recommended by the waitress and it did not fail to satisfy! I will definitely be back.only negativity of the night was the American girl who settled our bill before we left too loud and very rude!! Ten out of ten Funtastico!!
Lucy
Things have changed here! I have generally avoided but came here for dinner tonight and service, food, all amazing. Wait staff are very attentive and efficient, food was quick and delicious. Coming back again soon!!!!
Perthgirl
Enjoyable night at Funtastico. Unlike most recent reviews I enjoyed last nights experience at Funtastico. The waitstaff went above and beyond our needs and were very polite and accommodating to our baby. The food was exceptional - especially the Fagottoni (yum yum - this is one of my favourite meals)<br/>I would highly recommend Funtastico!
Berardo
Unbelievably bad. Instant potato mash and terrible service. Come on guys give us a break.
Ivana R
Used to like this place, but the quality of food has dropped recently! Last few times we did not think anything we ordered was that good. Used to be our regular place, but we're looking for another one. Service is also so so...
Omnivore
Pleasant late lunch. Had been very busy over a Saturday lunchtime - got to past 3pm & we realised we had not yet eaten. Funtastico was near at hand - never been there before & seemed more appealing than burger options nearby - and it's licensed. As it was fairly quiet, I suppose we should expect attentive service, and so it was - water, glass of wine and a beer arrived almost immediately. Only ordered mains - a ravioli and a salad. Both were tasty, well presented and ample portions for a lunch. We probably didn't stress their capabilities but we had a pleasant and satisfying lunch
Food_fattie
Fail. Like 90% of Perth restaurants the service was deplorable. Food was just OK which was a shame considering how expensive it is. This used to be a great restaurant with a buzzing atmosphere.
John Smith
Not bad. Wouldn't go back. Way too expensive.. In brief:<br/><br/>Wait staff - Very serious without any personality whatsoever. Fairly efficient but under staffed so there was lots of waiting around and calling them over.<br/><br/>Chefs - Pretty good. I like that you can see them cooking. Very serious almost angry looking but can cook ok. Not brilliant but ok. I had some veal which was over-cooked and not soft to cut. Needed a lot more tenderising and less time in the pan. There was not enough sauce either. I have had a lot better for a lot less.<br/><br/>Price - Way over-priced. 8 garlic prawns with mash and garnish for $42. Unbelievable. We had a credit voucher so it was ok for us but there is no way in hell I would pay that much. The dish was quite nice but again, not brilliant, just nice.<br/><br/>Drinks - Very large range of wine and beer. This was a highlight (unfortunately).<br/><br/>Over-all - Not bad. There is no way I will be going back and I am glad I had a credit voucher to use as it is obscenely over-priced but again, that's the greed of Perth.<br/><br/>Other reviewers - Keep in mind that most people here have said that the price is way too expensive and the food average except for the pizza. This place should down-size to a pizza shop.<br/><br/>Also keep in mind that the owners will most probably get friends to write a positive review to balance out the negative ones. Always take the negative reviews as creed because they are the ones that are honest. Most people will add positive comments into their negative review if there is any. Anyone that has only positive reviews is most likely associated with the owners or staff.
Diana Lauren
Terrible service terrible food, I will not be going back! Pizzas were burnt to a crisp and a paticular wait staff had bad body odour another waitress was extremely unfriendly and you could tell didnt wanna be there.

Oh Dear Oh Dear Oh Dear. Visited Funtastico for lunch at noon today. The first thing I noticed was a very dodgy smell inside the restaurant.....more on that later. On arrival, drink orders were taken and delivered promptly, but that dodgy aroma continued to compete with the nose on my Pino Grigio. Upon request I was informed that the "Fish of the day" was red emperor, which I duly ordered. I took a quick visit to the ladies and the dodgy smell became increasingly obvious as I proceeded towards the rear of the building. Once inside the ablution areas it became overwhelmingly obvious that I had reached the source of the odour which was permeating the entire restaurant and that it was none other than stale urine. My appetite for lunch had diminished substantially when I returned to my table to be greeted by a staff member who advised that the red emperor was not available. It seems that that "The Fish of the day" was in fact "The fish of yesterday" and the only 2 leftover portions had already been ordered by previous customers. I settled for a smoked salmon salad which was overdressed with balsalmic vinegar & very average. Don't think I can stomach another visit to Funtastico!

NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL HERE. Have eaten here numerous times & never had a bad meal.<br/><br/>Great service, knowledgeable waiters.<br/><br/>A little overpriced, but thats perth, but definitely one of perths better Italian restaurants
B2_amy
Terrible. I havent been to funtastico recently but it was obvious from the very beginning that it had changed... prices had increased. Staff were not friendly and just standing around...<br/>We ordered oysters $38 but they were soft, mushy, not fresh and had swollen up abit!! The pizza had obviously never been trialed by the chiefs it was salty and would have been impossibly to eat the whole thing.<br/>I never write reviews but this was a very disappointing experience
John
Great pizzas. I eat here often and they are still really good - well done!
Foodlover94
Best pizza in perth..it's even take away!!!. I've eaten here several times and I just have to say, Funtastico has the best pizza I've ever eaten out in perth!! Nothing beats a classic margheritta cooked to perfection or the calbrese or australiana!! The pizzas are to die for..and so is the pasta! Penne con fungi is at the top of my list any day! I highly recommend this establishment to everyone! The staff are all lovely and the foods delicious :) and you can even grab a pizza takeaway which is awesome for the nights my boyfriend and I want to stay in, and order quality take away food!
Jemma Cauchi
I haven't eaten here in years but my partner wanted to try for first time. We arrived early but no problem seating us. Great you can make bookings now. Our waitress was the best! So helpful attentive and friendly. We told her so too and added tip to the bill I hope she got. Anyway we saved Margareita pizza with parma ham. Delicious! Reminded me of pizza in Italy. Scott had pasta for main and loved it. I had prawns on spinach and mash. I've eaten nicer prawns but the dish was still very enjoyable but maybe bit expensive at $42. We shared cheesecake takeaway at home which was yummy
Hungry Habibi
Great Salads. Had a great fresh salad over the weekend. Lovely service too. Happy to return. <br/><br/>Would be great if bruschetta could be added to the menu :)

Still love it. Love coming here for consistent food and meals. It is local to us so not a big event to going for a quick dinner. some staff can be a bit hit and miss but manager always treats us well.
Bambi_girl223
Excellent service, great food. I've been coming to Funtastico for a while and i have never had a bad meal or service and always look forward to coming<br/>Always asked straight away if we would like drinks and always offering to top our water up. The food here is great also, my favourite is the veal and i cant go past a watermelon martini!! <br/>The staff always come over and make sure our food is good and its never a long wait for the food!
Hannah Perry
Went to Funtastico last night, after sitting down my partner and I had a waitress immediately come over to get drinks for us (which seemed great, but that's where service ended) I hadn't decided on what I felt like so asked for a few more minutes...<br/>25 minutes later we finally had the waitress come back to order drinks (which was lucky as we were just about to call another restaurant to see if we could get in there instead) <br/>We ordered drinks and mains (decided we'd forfeit entree to have room for dessert). <br/>45 minutes later we finally received our meals. To me this is not acceptable. There were people that had sat down in that time and looked at the menus only to walk out as they had not been served. <br/>Once again we were about to get up and leave just as the waitress was bringing our meals over. <br/>No complaints about the food, I had chicken on mash with Brookline and my partner had the ribeye steak, both were delicious. But by that time we were both tired and ready to leave so decided not to get dessert as we didnt want to wait another half hour. <br/>Cost of meals overpriced for what they are. Staff look like they'd rather be somewhere else. Which is ashame as the food was so good, restaurant has a lot of potential especially in its location. <br/>Won't be going back in a hurry.
Vickyf
Terrible service - went last night for dinner had field mushrooms to start $19 for literally 3 feild mush with tiny amount of Parmesan scattered and not even a hand full of rocket food was bland and my spaghetti marinera was only half decent when I poured half a bottle of Tabasco over it, service though is shocking no cutlery and had to ask didn't want to take drink ordered and had to use salt and pepper my husband took off the other table very diss appointed and over priced for bland expensive slow cooked food rip off!!!!
Diary
Dreadful service. 6 adults out for a Christmas dinner, 6pm on a Thursday evening- not a busy time of night at all- yet the service was DREADFUL! <br/>Seated, drink orders were taken, advised back in a few minutes for food orders, nothing happened. Wine took 30 mins to come to the table, no offers of water still no order for food taken. Finally flagged down a wait staff & food orders taken, 50 mins after arriving main courses arrive minus the shared entree that we had ordered, queried this & we were told they hadn't taken that part of the order. Pasta was lovely, chicken was nice & seafood was ok. Asked for spoons & bread received attitude from wait staff who said they wld be with us in a few mins but NEVER came back, had to flag down another waiter to take care of this. <br/>Gave up waiting for table to be cleared & coffee/additional wine/dessert orders to be taken, asked for the bill, left & went elsewhere down the road for coffee & dessert. Ended up spending much less than what we would have, wouldn't recommend it.
Dill Pickle
Needs new management. Has a reputation for good food and yes I concur but not good enough for me to return. Poor, inattentive service, tacky ageing decor and a bathroom in serious need of a revamp/paintjob marred the quality of the meal. Needless to say, enjoyed dessert elsewhere.
Ronda
Great food. Went with my family for dinner yesterday. Fantastic food and service. Will definitely go back
Monica
Best Marinara ever!!!. Funtastico has the best spaghetti marinara ever! My husband ranks it top of his list, only beaten by the marinara he had in Italy. Pizza was also good. Good service and great food. We will be coming back!
Mztiff
Half-pizza half-calzone was only half-good. Made the mistake of coming in as a big group and ordering our meals after another big group. When the food finally came I was presented with a Calzone with way too much ricotta and pizza dripping with too much oil. I will give props for the base and tiger prawns though.
Alksjhdfg
So many amazing dishes!. A group of us (6) went to Funtastico on a Saturday night. It was hard to order as there were so many delicious options on the menu. The staff were extremely friendly and the service was excellent! I had the calamari for entree, which was slightly chewy, but the flavours were delicious so I didn't mind. I ordered the duck ravioli, which was incredible. We all tried some of everyone else's dishes and all agreed that everything was extremely tasty. The vanilla pannacotta was delicious and so was the affogato. We're going back again this week. I'd definitely recommend Funtastico!!
Magic1
Food and service was excellent. Would defiantly go again.

They charged $2.50 for tap water, that annoyed me so much it doesn't even matter how the meal was. service was mediocre. $72.00 for two salads and French fries. I don't mind paying for nice food but paying $1 for ketchup in a decent restaurant is crap! condiments should be included for $8 French fries.
Jonathan
The food at funtastico was very good, thoroughly enjoyed my tuna salad. I didn't even mind the mediocre service. <br/>What I did mind was being charged 80c for a pot of aioli to go with a bowl of fries and $5 for two glasses of what appeared to be tap water with a slice of lemon thrown in it!
Aaron Smith
Good price, staff were very friendly, meals weren't bad, chicken only stuffed at the end part which was unfortunate. Still good place.
Rosmary
Perth service. Tired of terrible service, restaurants are in the hospitality industry, be hospitable! Food was nice, waitress cleared my plates as I was still eating! Typical Subiaco university student staff. Food was nice though service let it down
Alexandra Valuri-Shaw
The atmosphere was up beat the service was perfect I had the mushrooms for entree and veal salad for main it was so tasty. My brother had the prawn pizza he said it was perfect my husband had pasta he said it was tasteless
Believeinyourself
Generous servings, but noisy. I've been back to Funtastico several times over the last few years, they have generous servings of tasty italian food. Yes the place does get quite noisy, and the staff aren't the greatest but it's been around for a long time, and it's still always busy. That should tell you something. The food is always good here, that's guaranteed.
Zf
Why. Don't sit me on a plastic chair and charge me for leather if you're going to drag your feet the entire time, if you do decide to go to funtastico's make sure when first approached by waiter/waitress you know what you want to drink because it may be your last chance. Food was ok though.
Renee H
Generous servings. Good service, but restaurant is too noisy! 7/10
Karen
Very nice. The breakfast was very nice and there was a lot of it. I would definately go back there again.
Natalie
I eat here regularly and the food is always great BUT the service is not the best and food sometimes takes ages to come out. Recommend take away just for the speediness of your food being cooked.
Erica
Would not go back. I would not come back here again. It was a third resort as two other Italian restuarants in Subiaco have closed. Good points:<br/><br/>-The pastas were very nice & fresh ingredients used<br/><br/>Bad points:<br/><br/>-Despite being one of the first tables, our meals took an hour to arrive (no entree) and other tables got theirs before us.<br/><br/>-Two steaks both meant to be medium rare, one was well done and the other so raw inside it was beyond rare. Sent it back for more cooking, no apologies whatsoever and it still wasn't cooked enough when it returned.<br/><br/>-When we asked for water the waitstaff immediately poured us their expensive bottled water ($23 dollars for a table of 6 people for water!). No tap water was offered.<br/><br/>-The prices simply weren't justified by the meal and service.
Subi Foodies
We've eaten here several times and have always had a great experience. Good service, great pizza & salads.
Bec Corston
High prices, slow service. The food was reasonably good but definitely overpriced. No one on the table ordered starters so we expected to get the mains reasonably quickly - took over an hour. Additionally the steak was undercooked, so overall not particularly impressed.
Liz
We are locals and have eaten regularly here. The food is always great and the staff helpful and very polite will keep going
Food Fan
Came here for a catch up with my girl friends. They place seemed ok, modern and all. Service was ok, slow at times. The meals came out at a reasonable time, everyone enjoyed their meals. I had a pasta dish which was fairly large, which was good. I was totally stuffed after eating it. It tasted nice as well. Bad thing was the price: way more than what I was prepared to pay for, for what was served. Oh well. Average experience for me. Would rather go somewhere else for those prices.
LSC
Slow slow food. The service was all right but the food (which was average) took forever to come. No apology. Not impressed.
Shaun Choo
Neither fun nor fantastic. Booked a table which according to staff hadn't left yet so we were told to wait at the bar despite empty tables which we could have been seated at - Strike 1<br/><br/>Terrible acoustics make conversations in this place more like a shouting match. Perhaps having a little more space between each set of tables might help - Strike 2<br/><br/>Waiting over an hour and a half to get meals to the table which were little more complex then pasta with meatballs. To top it off, one dish which was requested to have no cheese came to the table with...you guessed it..cheese! Strike 3<br/><br/>Funtastico. You are most definitely OUT.
Veronika Bridgman
Great food but that's where it ends. Bad service - they weren't rude but it took forever each time we wanted a drink. Likewise, dirty plates weren't cleared and when they were the waiter stacked them up and rearranged them to his liking on the table in front of you before clearing. Oh and among other little annoyances, expensive wine was served in really crappy glasses... Not worth it for the price...

Ravioli napoletana. Large parcels of pasta filled with spinach, ricotta and parmesan and topped with a rich napoletana sauce. The pasta is slightly al dente and spews out its flavoursome filling with each bite.

Urgh...... Had the. Pan cakes for breakfast. It was sickly sweet as it was just swimming/drenched in syrup. the other meals on the table weren't a stand out either. Over all an average experience.
Anchor Man
Not only was service bad, the food was not edible. By far the worst dining experience I have ever had in Perth
Marco A.
Nice food but a little bit overpriced.

Sitting on the fence. Slow service even after the fact we booked a table and said we needed to be out by a certain time for a show across the road. ordered pizzas and pastas, had to shove it down the hatch in order to not miss the show. meal flavours were ok but nothing memorable. Safe italian restaurant, no awards here.

What a terrible experience from start to finish! Dreadfully slow inexperienced waitstaff, overpriced dishes, particularly the main dishes which aren't pasta..the longest wait in between starters and mains, to the point where 3 enquiries were made by us to the waitstaff as to whether or not the order had been forgotten, plus topping up of any water glasses never occurred!! When we got the bill they has charged us $300 extra! When we queried as to where the extra items and charge had come from they said are you sure you didn't have them! How rude! No apology was made when the bill was adjusted. I should listen to my partner next time, he had warned me not to go there! Save your time and money!!

Yummm. Love all our dishes!!

Slow service but decent food. A recount of last night's experience:<br/><br/>-We were not seated immediately despite the restaurant being only 50% occupied at the most;<br/>-Plenty of dirty/unset tables around that should have been cleaned and prepared for the next set of patrons;<br/>-Drinks that were ordered did not come out until after the entrees were served (had to be reminded);<br/>-The pizza was okay;<br/>-Mains did not arrive for another 45mins after finishing entrees. When we asked the waitress about it, she explains that it takes about half an hour to cook chicken... despite none of us ordering chicken. We sat and waited while tables arriving after us had already received entrees and mains;<br/>-Glasses of water were not topped up regularly;<br/><br/>Overall bad service that led to a ruined experience. Things could have been improved with better utilization/training of staff. I will not be returning in the future.

Lovely Lunch. This is a great Subiaco restarant. The service was friendly and efficient and they were accommodating in changing menu items to suit our children. The food was very good though not cheap. The servings were generous and even the kids were happy eating out for a change.
Brunching
Tried them for brunch. Very slow service. Took so long to order food, we gave up and left. The most uninspired breakfast menu I've ever seen. Ever.

You guys!!. Prior to Funtastico I had just walked out of Oriel angry, confused and contemplating cutting myself (having been ignored for 40 minutes). So what Funtastico got was an angry, angry man and 3 staving 30 somethings. They seated us and served a cold beer to me in under 3 minutes. A pizza to share appeared in under 15 minutes and mains followed.

Went there once during the summer n OMG!!!! This place is awfully boiling hit even though it got the sign up saying "air-condition please come in"!!!! Some of my colleagues came out from that place completely sweaty wet n I have no choice but anondon my meal due to the awful dining atmosphere!!!
Beauty And The Beast
Don't understand the relatively low rating/bad reviews. Highlights<br/>- the crumbed whiting was the best fish I have had in a long time (fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked)<br/>- the sirloin was just as good<br/>- the portion sizes were perfect <br/>- the accompinments were very unique and interesting<br/>- the waitstaff were polite and knowledgeable<br/>Lowlight<br/>- the tile floors, brick walls and high steel ceiling made for a very noisy caffeteria like environment<br/>- more discussing than necessary for our preferred seating to be made available<br/>- neither the water the waiter spilled not the wine that I spilled were wiped until requested<br/>Comment<br/>- a great place to hang out but maybe not one to discuss something important<br/>Ambience: the Beast (3.5)<br/>Service: the Beast (3.5)<br/>Food: the Beast (4.5)<br/>Value: the Beast (4)

FUNTASTIC...NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. My partner and I had both previously eaten at Funtastico, generally impressed with the food we decided to have dinner there last night.<br/><br/>Upon arrival the staff were quiet attentive; With 3 separate staff members greeting us at the door...we were seated and offered the choice of Sparkling or Still Water, we ordered a bottle of Sparkling. <br/><br/>10 minutes later we placed our drinks, entree + main order at the same time, when the waiter served us our wine my partner commented that we were still yet to receive our water, 5 minutes later it arrived (no biggie).<br/><br/>Our Funghi Al Forno (entree to share ) arrived and was delicious, wait time was normal for the amount of patrons in the restaurant, it was lively however by no means busy considering the number of wait staff they had on.<br/><br/>1 hour and bottle of Stell Bella SSB later, we had still not received our meal, by now we were starting to wonder if we had been forgotten about, tables that arrived after us had been served entree's and mains well ahead of us. <br/><br/>We were correct! <br/><br/>My partner asked the waitress, "How far away our meals would be as we had been waiting quiet a lengthy time."<br/><br/>Her response in a flat monotone was, "I'll see", followed by her rushing over to the other floor staff to enquire as to what had happened to our order.<br/><br/>Being within ear shot of the four it was obvious that our meal had not been placed with the kitchen, nor recorded in their order system. <br/><br/>After sitting and waiting another 10 minutes without anyone notifying us of what was happening, I approached the four floor staff whom were still quite clearly in a state of panic trying to figure out how to rectify the situation.<br/><br/>I politely said, " I am usually not one to complain, however my partner and I have now been waiting well over an hour for our mains and we have been waiting for someone to let us know what is happening, plus if it's not too much trouble we would like to order some more drinks if that's ok."<br/><br/>The older woman out of the four (whom I am assuming was the head waitress for the eve) responded with, " You will have your mains in 5 minutes and I'll send someone over for drinks."<br/><br/>3 minutes later the waitress whom took our original order came to our table and said, (In the same flat rude monotone voice) "Can I get you anything" <br/><br/>We ordered another bottle of Stella SSB, hoping that our mains would arrive at any moment.<br/><br/>5 minutes later no wine arrived, no mains arrived. <br/><br/>A waitress came to our table with a basket of thickly cut sourdough and told us our mains would be another 10 minutes. <br/><br/>By this stage we had finally had enough. <br/><br/>After waiting in total almost 1 ½ hours for our mains, we decided to walk out.<br/><br/>We went to the counter and my partner explained to the head waitress, that we had waited long enough and we would like to pay for our wine and entree.<br/><br/>The waitress responded with, " It won't be much longer."<br/><br/>She handed us the bill, we paid and left.<br/><br/>At no stage did any of the staff members offer to help rectify the situation, nor apologise in the slightest, not even upon departure. <br/><br/>Customer Service is non-existent at this "restaurant", I highly recommend to the new owners to either:<br/><br/>a) employ staff who actually know what they are doing <br/>or <br/>b) train their current staff, teaching them the most basic of skills<br/><br/>The way we were treated was absolutely appalling.<br/><br/>I have forever been turned off ever returning to Funtastico restaurant, which is a shame because the chef's are have excellent culinary skills, pity the wait staff let them down.<br/><br/>Famished for food, we subsequently ended up at The Witches Cauldron. Perfect service and delicious food served within a reasonable timeframe, funnily enough when we recalled our night to the wait staff here, they knew exactly what we were talking about and mentioned we were not the only customers to complain.

Decent pizza. Had the half calzone, half pizza here - it was great. Partner had a seafood pasta which was very tasty.
David Christie
Fantastic food really if you like Italian but the service can be wildly erratic. For the price it's a shame really but welcome to 2011, when training is long gone....

Great food, although service was exceptionally SLOW!!!

Great pasta!. I went on a weeknight with two girlfriends and we were all very impressed with the range of choices available. We all had pasta and all of us thoroughly enjoyed all of them! If it wasnt as expensive as it is for an Italian restaurant, I'd definitely be back more often.

Great pizza. Had a late light lunch and coffee with a girlfriend. We both loved the pizza. Next time will go fur dinner. good food, service and prices.

Thought it was back but let down again. Due to my work i travel interstate regularly. When in perth i try to make the time to dine at Funtastico's. After regular visits over an 8 year span the last few times i dined last year and earlier this year, the food as usual was exceptional but the service was less the desireable. To the point i nearly gave up on my favourite spatchcock meal. But when i return in April i was pleasently surprised by there new manager and how smoothly my experiance went. Even though the wait staff could smile a little more it was compensated by there new managers desire to make sure our table wanted for nothing.<br/>I returned last night looking forward to my evening only to be disappointed due to the return of bad service unreceptive wait staff and a general sense of dining in an unorganised environment. Dont know who she was but BRING BACK THE OLD MANAGER ....last time our table spent $723.46 for 4 people, last night we spent $148.90 between 4. The difference being the uncomfortability we felt prevent us from settling in and ordering wine which your old manager always recommended to compliment our meal selection
Good Service Is A MUST
Fabulous Food but slow.... Went here for the first time today for Mother's Day lunch with a table of 7 adults + 2 children under 6 yrs old. Arrived at 12.30 ordered at 12.50 entrees came out at 1.40 (50 min wait) and main at 2.20pm (another 40 minute wait). EXTREMELY slow for food to be served considering the restaurant was only half-full and they had 12 staff working in the kitchen and on the floor. We had a lovely waitress who was very good dealing with hungry cranky children (while waiting a long time for their meals) and she even gave them some pizza dough to play with and then baked it for them in the pizza oven! <br/>Luckily, the food was worth the wait and it was understandable that it took so long as each and every dish had a lot of elements to it and tasted amazing. It was a tad on the expensive side especially charging $10 for a bowl of fries and an extra $2 for tomato sauce BUT still well worth every cent. <br/>Would definately recommend IF you have 3 hours spare to eat and don't mind waiting almost an hour getting served each dish :)

New manager - good menu. Love the linguini and the woodfired pizzas look superb. Well worth a visit - especially lunch time mid week.

NOT VERY FUNTASTICO. Contrary to the name, our dining experience at Funtastico was a night to forget. <br/>We advised the maitre de when we arrived that we had a show to attend in 1 hr 10 minutes and would they be able to help meet that deadline? We were advised only to choose from Pizza menu so that they could ensure we received our meals on time, which was disappointing. We chose a pizza and requested an extra topping - which the chef advised we were not allowed to do and therefore refused the proscuitto that we would have liked added to the pizza. Whilst waiting for our pizza's 2 x other couples sat on tables near us, ordered pasta from the menu (which is what we would have liked) and then were promptly served and finished dining before we received our pizza's. I have to say that the pizza's were tasty, but the 2 x GARDEN salads that we ordered were a bowl full of mixed lettuce with 2 x pieces of tomato & cucumber and were missing the danish feta which was ordered with the salad. <br/>We made a complaint to the manager, but we all felt that the apology was somewhat hollow. They decided not to charge for a bowl of fries and the credit card surcharge as an apology... wow...what an offer!<br/>I had booked this restaurant after a recommendation as we were entertaining guests from SA.... NEVER EVER AGAIN. <br/>2 x Pizza's<br/>2 x Garden Salads minus the garden<br/>2 x Beers<br/>1 x Glass Chardonnay<br/>1 x coke<br/>1 x LLB<br/>TOTAL COST = $114.OO <br/><br/>AVOID AT ALL COSTS - YOU GET BETTER SERVICE FROM MACDONALDS
Nat
Disappointing. I've been here twice now due to all the good reccommendations but was severely disappointed. The food was good but the service was terrible.<br/>The 1st time there was no service and we ended up leaving. The second time I ordered my food without chilli. But came to me with lots of chilli! When I told them so walked away and never came back and when I told the manager the response was "Well sometimes that just happens" and offered no replacement, refund or discount. very disappointed.

Overpriced, horrible service. The title says it all.

I didnt have Funtastico here(stupid Funtastico) suffered through a pizza covered with roughly my own body weight in blue cheese, before suffering through a Sufjan Stephens concert, the taxi drivers cunning shortcut down Bulwer St was the highlight of the evening
Simply Simon
Yesterdays hero ....... This used to be such a great place to dine. It had a really special vibe, and the best owners and staff in Perth for a great meal and night out.<br/><br/>Nowadays, I think they are trading on their past reputation, and apathy has set in with the owners. Its still pretty good food, but the service is a too arrogant and unfriendly for me to visit it again regularly. <br/><br/>If we cant get into the Subi Hotel we'll give this place another try one day...
Ariellah
Apalling. Food: Good<br/>Atmosphere: waiters were sweating but it was comfortable sitting down<br/>Service: TERRIBLE. Won't ever bother going back there.<br/>Value: Not worth it.<br/><br/>I've been there a number of times and every time I leave disappointed. I won't waste my money there any more.<br/><br/>Waiters who don't give a crap, chefs who take 45 minutes to get out two pastas, and a manager who doesn't even care about complaints? NO THANKS
M.Rawlings
What a place!!! Love at first bite. Calamari awesome. Woodfire pizza awesome. Staff amazing. Atmosphere amazing. It has become a long time love affair of ours. :)

You think they'd learn... Went to funtastico with a group of girlfriends last week and lets just say that will be the last time i go there!<br/>the service was one of the worst i've experienced- staff think they're better than the clientel and i would have thought after reading through other reviews that they would learn! we waited over an hour for our dinner with no apology when it came out. when it did finally come out one of the girls found an insect in her meal- this was obviously acceptable to the girl serving as no apology was provided and the insect was even left on the table!!<br/>for the prices you pay- you would expect better- ok its in subiaco but when was that the height of trendiness?!!<br/>DO NOT GO THERE!!
Sir Eatsalot
Amazing night. Went over the weekend with some friends, we forgot to book so had a drink at the bar while waiting for a table. The cocktails were amazing! Got a table in about 1 drinks time. The waitress was friendly and attentive, and not bad looking to boot. Personally had the duck which was to die for. Great ambiance, great food, great cocktails. Definately check it out. Not for a quick bite, it's an all night dining experience!

Blue lights?. Come on guys, ditch the blue lights, its so public toilet spec.

Not for the grumpy. Funtastico is not for the grumpy middle aged couple. It is funky, loud, pricey and therefore has a great crowd. <br/>Great for a late night bite with your girlfriends or a first date followed by some dancing. <br/>And did I mention the food is absolutely amazing and is up there with the best pasta in Perth. <br/>Our waitress was really nice, up to the point where she asked another table what they did for a living for us. <br/>I would definitely go back!
IMHO
Good food, poor service.. FOOD <br/>Food was good. Portion sizes were generous. Food was served promptly. <br/><br/>SERVICE <br/>Staff were very cold and not at all personable. <br/><br/>The waitress attending to our table accidentally knocked over a glass of wine onto one of our diners. Her response was not appologetic or embarassed, rather she seemed quite annoyed by the inconvinience.<br/><br/>OVERALL<br/>Water was an exorbinant $13 or so dollars for the table. We didn't have time to investigate the cost of water as we were going to the theatre, but it was an unwelcomed suprise on our bill. <br/><br/>Funtastico was our 2nd choice after we couldn't get a booking at The Subi, not sure I'd give it a second chance...

Very average experience, waited over a hour for breakfast and it was not very busy. Food was ok but over priced. Would not Go back

Love this place ...although...... Seems to be hit and miss at times. Some nights Its out of this world and every so often its a bad meal. Still it will always be one of my favourites. Love the bar ......have a drink before you are seated its great!!!!<br/>They do a MEAN Frangelico Caprioska mmmmm!!!!!

Food is to die for! pizzas are amazing but the double cooked duck will ruin your future duck experiences. best duck I've ever had, and I've eaten a few! The waiters are a bit blazé about service, but they are still attentive. Highly recommended

Expensive and noisy dining but the food was nice
LittleFoodie
Great location but over priced and I don't think the menu has a great range, also feels a bit pretentious.
Kazzablanca13
Food was amazing, as always, and commensurate with cost. Service was disappointingly mediocre on this occasion- it is usually better. Always a noisy restaurant but one of my fave Italian ones. Hard to go past the double cooked duck.
Patrick
Ok food, though expensive. Service attentive but somewhat unprofessional
JusHan
Good food once you get past the pretentous matre de who acts like serving you is a privilege. Veal Saltimbocca up there with the best I've had (internationally).
Kitty
It's ok. Went for lunch, the food was ok. Nothing to write home about....or review for that matter. Service was pretty good though and friendly. Probably wouldn't rush back....
Pk
Don't go. Unfriendly, unwelcoming, overpriced.
Spoonmaster
Consistent. Always busy, does a great lunch trade as well as in the evening, a little bit pretentious so if your face fits the service is good and the staff whilst generally rushed off their feet are friendly, if your not the right fit I could imagine you may not enjoy it so much... Pizzas are pretty good as is most of the menu, prices are probably 10-15% above what its actually worth.
JB
Pretencious and just poor all round. Staff quick to stick their noses up at you. Bad food, bad atmosphere. I feel like this restaurant is only surviving due to their location.. otherwise they'd surely be out of business by now. Don't bother, unless you like feeling unwelcome and like being ripped off.

A friend of mine raves about the food at Funtastico, so when the opportunity arose to go for dinner I couldn’t pass it up. It was a Friday night and while most places are buzzing with people, when we arrived I was surprised to see there was a very empty and relatively quiet restaurant...
Gourmet Vicariously
The service at Funtastico was good, especially considering there was a few large and quite loud groups in the restaurant at the same time as us. We ended up finishing our meal in Subiaco at Gelare as my friend was in want of a strawberry ice-cream cone. I would happily return to Funtastico for a pizza and to try their deserts as they did look delightful when we went in but we had already decided upon Gelare for desert as we walked to the restaurant.<br/>
Queen Of Bad Timing
Once upon a time, Italian restaurants littered the city of Perth more than flies in summer. It didn't matter which way you looked, there you'd find this classic cuisine which offers carbs upon carbs in the most delicious manner possible. In those days each nouveau restaurant was attended by the who's who. Caliente cliques that celebrated dishes outside the traditional fare of spaghetti & meatballs or margherita pizza. Funtastico was one of these places. Extremely popular in the early 2000's, for me it brings back memories of meals out with my girlfriends where we'd all get dolled up and live for a moment in a world that seemed so foreign to us. It had been a couple years since the last time I'd visited this place in Subiaco and it's had a renovation. The once upon a time red decor has been replaced by an almost mirror ball like black slick of paint but still retains its emphasis on the staged open plan kitchen and giant pizza oven that churns out order after order.

Likes: generous serving of crab on pasta, well-prepared veal medallions; Dislikes: salty sauce with veal, watery pasta sauce, hefty regular prices
Chopinand Mysaucepan
...a casual Italian diner which is known for good pizzas and pastas. Notwithstanding the painfully slow service, the food has won us over each time.
Missfattyfoodie
We chose to go back to Funtastico as it is conveniently located near the subi market and their breakfast is awesome.
