Sorry I don't have any photos as I've always been too busy cooking and eating haha. The family and I have been here now countless times and absolutely love it. Probably the best hot pot in Perth. The salted pepper tofu dish is divine. We always order the mushroom base stock which is delicious along with the dumplings with the roe inside. So good will keep coming back!
Not a bad place to go to for hotpot. There’s a good variety of food to pick from. The soup bases were all delicious. This restaurant also does some ala carte dishes.
We went late night on boxing day. Food was inexpensive..reasonable price. Portion was quite big as well. Staff want very friendly but service was okay.
The mushroom broth was super good and could fill us alone. Got the assorted mix, fish cakes and beef. Was enough to fill the two of us. Good feed on a night out.
This is definitely a place to satisfy your hot pot craving. They have such an easy ordering process with their tablet menu and there’s so many things to choose from (e.g. type of noodles, seafood, meats, vegetables, etc.). This place is perfect for casual group dinners but be sure to make a booking on busy nights like saturdays. For a spicy broth lover like myself, even I find the broth to be quite hot so be careful what level of spice you choose.
The only reason why I took a star away from the ratings is because I wish they cleaned the seafood (e.g. clams, mussels, etc.) more carefully. I could taste and hear the crunch of sand as I’m eating them. I’m definitely sticking to the meats instead.
WHO 🔘 #KungFuKitchen 🥋🔪 is famous for their authentic Chinese food including spicy braised meats, noodle soups, dumplings and hot pots 🌶🍜♨️. I also recently discovered their "mini hot pot", which was pretty much a bowl of (noodle) soup, 100% customised to your liking 🍲. Thanks Steph & Cheryl 😘😘 for the life-changing experience!
HOW 🔘 Starting with a soup base, you can choose your preferred level of spiciness, ranging from non-spicy to hot. You may then select 4 veggie/noodles and 2 meat/noodles choices, as well as adding 1 extra item for $2.
WHAT 🔘 was in my mini hot pot?
🔸 Soup base ➡️Medium
🔸 Veggie ➡️ Bamboo shoots, seaweed knots, tofu puffs, oyster mushroom
🔸 Meat ➡️ Secret recipe beef sirloin, prawn pork balls
I honestly thought this was the best thing ever invented after actual hot pot. Amazing value for money and the soup was fantastic, which was very much expected from Kung Fu Kitchen 💥. The flavoursome and spicy broth, loaded with numbing Szechuan pepper and other aromatics, warmed up my winter night while other ingredients generously filled my stomach, and subsequently my soul.
Very nice hot pot. Soup base is good. Because they are busy, the food freshness is good. The dipping sauces are tasty. Service was ok. Great winter food.
The hot pot here is amazing value and definitely great for groups. For an added $1.50 you could unlimited dips for the hot pot, and the choices of sauces and dips was extensive. We had fun trying all the different combinations.
The ingredients themselves were ok. The meat in particular was good and thinly sliced. However the fish was disappointing as it was clearly frozen which led to a mushy texture.
We had hot pot here and it was perfect! They kindly catered for our non pork diet and the girl recommend the mushroom soup base which was very tasty and healthy.
All the ingredients were fresh and very reasonably priced.
All the staff members were super friendly and attentive. Athough we went there late and they were about to close, they didn’t make us feel like we had to hurry up.
Excellent value for great food and service.
Delicious take away; I got the pork hock and it was a winner - fantastic combo of flavours, and lasted me for 2 meals. Makes me want to go back for dine in.
Amazing food and amazing service. The people were very helpful and the food was delicious! The Price is also very reasonable no matter whether you get the hotpot or the normal dishes
Come here if you want a spicy kick in your food. I went for devil hot level for the spicy soup since I really like spicy food. It was fun to have the hotpot and choose what you want to put in it! Also dine in earlier if you want to avoid long waiting time during dinner
We waited for 40 minutes on a Wednesday night for a table. We were then given an ipad to choose what we wanted to eat. This was convenient and incinvenient at the same time because everyone wanted to see the menu. However we were able to see photos and prices and a total price of what we were ordering. The wintermelon tea was very delicious and I reccomend to get a whole jug for value. The raw food came out on a trolley, very practical as table space was limited. The broth tasted a bit bland but got better as we added more ingredients to the hot pot.
Overall an ok experience as we waited so long and the broth flavour was not so flavoursome. However the process of cooking your food at the table was fun.
Some of the best "legit" Chinese food I've had in awhile. All the schezuan themed dishes are great for spicy enthusiasts and the hot pot broths have plenty of flavor, to the point where I didn't even need to use my dipping sauce!
A place which I always go for hot pot. Worth the value of money, foods are always nice as usual and never fail to impress us. Waitstaffs were very friendly in guiding us with the iPad order and attentive. Food portions are always generous and the taste are really good.
When you walk into Kung Fu Kitchen, you immediately know the food is good because of all the locals that are hanging out there. Food did not disappoint, it was tasty and packed with flavour❤️I want to go back tomorrow. Oh and the service was Quick quick 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I also liked to fact you ordered on an iPad 😊
My second time i come here had the noodles the first time it was good . So today we tried the hot pot it was vary good we ordered the spicy soup the soup was nice . The meat , seafood and dumpling was all fresh and tasty . The service was good as well.
Really fun experience at KFK. You order your soup/broth and then all your bits to cook in it. We had the lobster balls, fish cakes, pork belly and sesame pork. Perfect amount of food for 2 people. I recommend the mushroom broth, very tasty!
The food is extremely good value and comes out quickly. We had 2 types of dumplings, prawn spring rolls, fried wontons and spring onion pancake. Flavour was good. I'd recommend this place for a cheap and quick feed.
I have looked for an authentic Chinese restaurant for a long time to match my experience in China. I can say this place serves the best authentic Chinese food in Perth.Meals and the waiter's attitude here is great, but every time I go to eat to wait
Best hot pot in town so far. Really taste and will definitely come back. Suggest 4 sort source pot.
Meat and fish balls are really fresh!
Not the best and not the worst hot pot I've ever had, the wait for a table was at least 30 minutes, the food was over priced so ordering per dish became quite expensive the taste however wasn't bad, the soup was nice and warm and seeing as it was raining outside it just seemed like the best food to have, I wasn't overly impressed by the quality of food and the service but it's nice if your looking for a decent hot pot in perth
I always had a good time everytime I ate at King Fu Kitchen - whether it is in Northbridge or the one in Cannington. I simply love the food here. Yes sometimes they can be a bit bland but that's where you have the sauces counter! I simply make up my own flavor (with sesame, chives, garlic and peanut satay sauce - it was awesome!).
Friendly staffs with great services. Plenty of sitting - but because it was always crowded, you still have to wait a while to get your sit unless you come a bit later. Prices are decent too.
We waited 45mins to get a seat, but it's all worth it! Loved it! Service was good too. Would be coming back soon!!
I love the spicy soup, can't get enough of it! Will be telling my friends about it!
If you like Hot & Spicy Steam Boats & Northern Chinese Food.. Then you should come try KUNG FU KITCHEN ... In Northbridge ... Yumm Yummm... They do main menus & steamboats... (You can select from many Soup Bases - Mild to Extra Hot & Condiments).. Missy_K
Favourite Sichuan place in Perth ✌🏻️🌶🇨🇳 We've been coming since they changed to a bigger building. The food had been consistently good ! Love the cold dishes. The beef tongue and tripes was the best one 👌🏻 The service is what you expect from an Asian restaurant, fast and not very friendly. The price isn't too bad.
Service is fast and responsive and the food is authentic as it can be (not as good as mum's though haha but pretty close!)
This is the better tasting SzeChuan Hotpot that I have been to in Perth. The ingredients are fresh. The beef is good. The sauce is good. Service is good as well. The Spicy soup probably do not have enough SzeChuan peppercorn to my liking. But everything put together, I will still go back when I have cravings for Spicy Hotpot.
Service is prompt. Food is great. Environment is clean & warm. Went twice so far. Once for lunch & once for dinner. Both dining experience were great. will definitely come back. Only wish their operation hours could be extend to later like 12midnight. It's always the time issue.
Had dan dan noodles here twice and it's seriously tasty. Huge serve and pretty cheap too. Good crowd both visits, but food didn't take long to come out.
Went here new years evening. It was really busy but only waited about 10 mins before we were seated. We ordered our meal via an i pad which was really cool. We ordered 4 dishes and i even tried the tongue and tripe which was spicy and delicious. The seaweed was awesome and i just loved the chewy noodles. We had plenty of food to even have a container of left overs which was even better value. Great food and great price.
My family and I love a good hot pot! We even have hot pot parties at home. Combine this love with the love of eating out, we were happy to discover Kung Fu Hot Pot in Northbridge. I first came across this restaurant whilst brunching in Tuck Shop, as I was eating I noticed there was a massive crowd outside of what was then Kung Fu Kitchen. After brunch I walked across and saw Kung Fu Kitchen's menu and everything looked so appetising. Fast forward a few months, Kung Fu Kitchen has closed and opened an even bigger restaurant around the corner, Kung Fu Hot Pot, to be able to cater to the demand!
if you really really really like spicy foods, please come and visit!!! it's a good foods & good challenge for me. definitely will come back again for their spicy hotpot!
After reading the review written by Lyv To Eat I was really determined to go to Kung Fu Kitchen. I don't eat hot pot regularly but I do probably have one annual hot pot dinner. The difficulty is that I haven't found a good hot pot place after the Dragon Steamboat closed.
On one wintery night, I braced the cold and walked into Kung Fu Kitchen with my husband. The staff welcomed us and found us a spot straight away, right in front of the TV that was playing the chinese version of The Voice (the show is called Voice of China). Behind us we can see a private dining room that can seat 10-12 people.
We were given an iPad to do our ordering and even though some words are in Chinese, it was pretty self-explanatory due to the different coloured buttons (green for checkout, blue for add to cart, red for cancellation). The menu also provided us with photos of each dish and drinks. I was going to order ducks tongue but decided not to after examining the photo in the menu (ox tongue is still fine, but I'm not in a close relationship with duck yet).
We opted for the two different soups, spicy and non-spicy. I like the taste of both but prefer the non-spicy one, while hubby liked the spicy one better. Our ordered meats and vegetables came out promptly and we were happily cooking our meals in the hotpot. I've tried to separate our meats equally, but I was so sure that hubby put more meats in the spicy soup...
As what Lyv To Eat mentioned, we ordered two all you can take sauce in the menu so we can try all of their sauces. My favourite combination is a mixture of black bean, chilli, sesame chives, bbq and a tiny bit of hoisin sauce.
I almost forgot to say that when we were seating down on the plush Kung Fu Kitchen chairs, we felt like we were eating at a clean Chinese restaurant in China. Such a good atmosphere and we'll definitely go back to try other dish.

Love the beef and ox tripe here, also the hot pot. A little pricey for the hot pot, but yummy! Don't expect great service. But the food is good. Long wait too, so make reservation or go there 1.5 hours before your dinner time. Hmm tried the spicy beef sweet potato noodles soup, and I must say, it's not that pricey. $12.50 for such a big bowl.
Food quality has declined. The service is efficient and not overly enthusiastic, but still friendlier than most restaurants in China. You order at the counter before letting your waiter know if you want the hot pot. If so, you go up and pick up dishes for your hot pot at the counter. I was in a group of 4 and we dined on a Friday night around 7pm after a 15 min wait. Ordered the koushuiji, pickled cucumber, suan la fen, wontons in chicken broth and dan dan mian. Overall really enjoyed the dishes, I felt they were very authentic and the whole experience made me feel like I was back in a clean restaurant in Sichuan. It was all quite cheap too! Highly recommend the koushuiji (saliva chicken - terrible English translation) and will be heading back to eat that alone.
Returned a few months ago and food is not as good as it was when I first visited. Won't be going back.
It's a tiny restaurant, and the setting is so-so. But the price is good. food is nice, yet a bit too oily.
Authentic Chinese food, feels like home!. I LOVE THIS PLACE! The only place I can eat and feel like I'm at home. The food is authentic, spicy and oily, just like how Grandma used to make it in China. The price is very very reasonable and it is just delicious. Can't recommend it enough to people who like chilly foods.
Love this place! Really authentic. Can def improve the service. But can't fault much.
Fantastic little spot. Walking through Northbridge on a chilly Sunday evening, I lost count of how many completely empty restaurants I walked by on the way to Kung Fu Kitchen. My Chinese friends eagerly awaited my arrival and were excited to show me one of their favourite places in Perth to enjoy what they regarded as delicious and authentic. And both it was.
Even on a Sunday night it was buzzing. The café serves what in China may be considered as "poor mans food", and prepare various off-cuts of meat in traditional methods. We opted for a few dishes to share between us, and though they did have milder options we agreed on a variety of spicy dishes including chicken, ox tongue, tofu and tripe amongst others. The portions were very generous and everything we ordered was delicious. I must say for those who are health conscious that everything was served swimming in chilli oil, just the way the Chinese like it. Being a fan of chilli oil this was a bonus for me as well.
For five people the bill came to around $75 (including a 2 litre bottle of ice tea), and by the end of the meal not only had we eaten too much, there remained 3 containers worth of food which my friends took away with them.
Therefore I would recommend this restaurant for those who like the sounds of cheap, authentic poor-mans cuisine in a casual setting. Though one should not have any problem visiting alone, I would strongly recommend visiting with Chinese friends as it makes the ordering process a lot easier. Otherwise be prepared to be the only Caucasian diner in the café (which certainly says a lot for the food's authenticity). Can't wait to try it again!
Authentic!. Despite the horrible service, the food is good! It is authentic chinese food but for those who dislike oily and spicy food should not go there as majority of the dishes are spicy and the amount of chilli oil is to increase the spiciness.
If you can get over the horrible service, the food is great, spicy and isn't expensive.
Hot, oily, hot!. I love chilli so much i am an addict. I like this place as it satisfies my chilli craving.
I normally order the searing hot pot but noticed the last couple of times how much oil there is. It's tasty but not so good for the health but there are other dishes that aren't drenched in oil.
Perfect. This is the ONLY Chinese restaurant makes me feel at home.....
Love this place! Great food, really flavorsome and good portions for a good price. Lady at counter not so friendly
Best noodle in town! The p.... Best noodle in town!
The portion is huge enough to share between two!
Had the spicy and sour noodle soup for take away. Great fresh flavors and an amazing kick of spice!
One word..... Awesome!
Great lunch spot - I was the only white guy there...does that help?
Mmmmm. Loved the hot & sour noodle soup too! Awesome and authentic Sichuan food, however the service here is extremely poor (you will need to seat yourself, get your own menus, drinks and cutlery etc and order at the counter). However, for a no frills authentic experience (rare for this type of cuisine in Perth), give this place a try.
Boom boom pow!. How can you not like a restaurant called kung fu kitchen? And their food certainly came with a bit of kapow...lot's of chilli, sichauan pepper and fresh corriander...oh and lots of oily goodness. Brought back fond memories of China. =)
Had to race here after the last reviewer said this cafe served authentic Sichuan cuisine & he's right! Really missed a Sichuan cafe that closed in Barrack St a few years ago but this place is better! Try the Hot & Sour Sweet Noodle soup ...it'll put hairs on your chest! Don't worry about the unsmiling expressionless faces of staff...this is normal for a Chinese cheap eatery, especially if people are from mainland China. Just get used to it.
Authentic Sichuan cuisine. My wife and a few of her friends are all from Sichuan, they all agree that this little eatery serves authentic sichuan street food. the lady behind the counter is now more polite and the place looks tidy and clean these days.
Also it's definately my fav place for noodle- chewy and fresh in good portion!
Be warned, its for the adventurous. This is a great little eatery that serves authentic chinese food showing that there is more to Chinese food than Cantonese cuisine. It serves tasty dishes mostly of cheap off cuts. things like duck tongues, tripe, trotters etc. If you have an open mind and a taste for adventure you love it.
Cheap, cheery and delicous.
Nice food bad service. Agree with the grumpy front lady post... service is really bad.. like c'mon it won't hurt to smile and say thanks.. I personally don't have good impressions on the Chinese.. but really.. just a smile is THAT hard??? and i was just looking at the pics on the wall to see what I want.. and it wasn't a busy time... she was just looking at me like so frustrated.. like wth is her problem??.. and all the staffs were just bumming in the kitchen... liked.. errr.... and i had to ask for a empty bowl because we were sharing some dishes.. she asked me to use the saucing bowl.. like the tiny one.. wth.. how are you meant to eat with that? and when I asked for a bigger one.. she gave me that impression that she didn't wanna coz it will mean like she will hv to wash it.. dude.. you are working.. that's what you are supposed to do.. noone told us there was free water either.. so it's liked .......... =.="
anyways.. the place is soo small.. so don't go in a big group... max.. 4 or 5 people at a time.. otherwise.. it's pretty much impossible for you to sit together...
food is awesome nonetheless... had the hot and sour spicy sweet potato noodles sooo good.. the chicken in chilli sauce.. so so .. the XO tripes... sooo good.. much better than the beef and tripes in chilli sauce combo.. had the chicken drumsticks on rice too - very sweet and yummm... the beef noodles.. average...
This place was full of people and we weren't sure if we would get seats. We were also the only westerners in the restaurant. Like the other reviewer said, the lady serving at the front was a bit rude but the other staff were lovely and food came out quickly. The chinese burgers were only $4 each and full of tasty pieces of meat with coriander, spring onion and garlic. Definitely a unique experience eating chinese burgers- recommended.
Grumpy front lady. Fantastic food, evidenced by all the mainland students who are eating there. Good value too. Love the 'chinese hamburgers'and the toungue, ox tripe and duck gizzards. Only turnoff is the grumpy server. I would like to order in mandarin (to practice) but she is so unfriendly, I am too scared. Indeed when I asked her how to prononce / read someting from the menu (rather than continue to order using the hokey english description) she was downright hostile. I feel dumb saying "Chinese Hamburgers" and you would think she would be happy and proud to help me pronounce the correct name of the dish. In China they encourage foreginers who want to try and speak Mandarin. What is her problem!
Anyway I am going down there today to get more yummy stuff, despite the witch on the front desk. A smile will do her wonders...
Definitely not your typical Chinese restaurant, Kung Fu Kitchen offers pretty spicy food with several dishes themed on the less loved parts of the animal. I liked the moorish dried been curd stick, the seaweed salad is a bit intense, the beef & ox tripe was delicious.
Took advantaged of their $5 dumplings on the last day of their promotion for March, food & service did not disappoint. Ordered & payed online, got a text not long after that our first order was ready & didn’t have to wait too long for our second order. When I walked through the door, the waitress asked me whether I was waiting for takeaway & checked on my second order straightaway & told me it won’t be too long & to take a seat.
She was friendly & saw how she handled customers that came through the door in regards to vaccination checks & passed them menus & let customers chose their own tables. She was quite efficient in delivering meals to customers too.
Saw a lot of recent negative reviews, thought I gave an honest review of what I saw tonight to be fair. Keep it up!
Good food & great tap beer deals (Feral brewing’s sly fox & hop hog)
We’ve been dining in this place weekly ever since we found this place.
Tried many dishes & haven’t really been disappointed.
Good price point on both food & beverages.
We both loved their sichuan style fish fillet dish the most.
Would be back for sure
Food Taste pretty good,I love the cucumber with chilli oil but there was alot of the sichuan pepper which was a bit hard to not bite them。Hope next time the pepper was lesser or remove from the fish 😂。
