We decided to go check this place out as it has such a beautiful view and also a restaurant new in Perth CBD.
We were 30mins late for our table booking. Lucky the restaurant still kept our table.
We were greeted by the friendly waitress, and she showed us to our table.
We decided to order a few entrees, the first one is the Crispy soft-shell crab with sriracha cream sauce, it's very tasty, and you can't go wrong for the soft shell crab. The second entree, we ordered the Lamb ribs in Xinjiang spice in sticky spiced soy, crispy lotus roots. This entree dish is a highlight, and the lamb ribs cooked perfectly; it created harmony in flavours, the salty and sweet were just right.
For mains, we ordered the Jumbo prawns, salted egg sauce on potato nest, goji berries. I like the salted egg with prawns. It's very tasty; the goji berries are just for the colour. The goji berries didn't have much flavours to it.
The second main we ordered Seared wet-aged beef, shaved asparagus, diced cucumber, crispy bamboo mushrooms, fermented bean dressing. The meat cooked to the right texture, soft and it melts into your mouth.
For dessert, we ordered the dessert board, it came with all these, Redgum Honey cake with handmade pistachio ice cream Cinnamon dusted churros with Belgian chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream Chocolate lava filled with egg yolk custard and vanilla ice cream Honeycomb gelato with sliced fruits, honey crumb. It's good for more than two people. It was way too much for us, but it was good!
They have the best view in town. There is an outdoor area that you can sit out and enjoy a glass of wine. The glass is high enough to stop the wind.
It's good spot for sunset drinks.
HQ is amazing! Food was impeccable (the grilled barramundi was 10/10), drinks were delicious (the old fashioned smoked outback was my personal favourite) and the view of Elizabeth quay is top notch!
We went on a Friday night and there was a DJ, the vibe was amazing and the staff were so attentive and friendly! Definitely will come back to try the rest of the menu and cocktails!
Really nice ambiance with a really good view. Food is tasty and cocktails are different. Great place for a date! Duck breast was my favourite dish, succulent and full of flavour.
Ok this place is pretty amazing! Rooftop views of Elizabeth Quay-Very nice cocktail menu to go with Asian infusion tapas style food. Go here fore dinner or after work drinks 🍸
Went to HQ Rooftop for drinks and nibbles with food, what an amazing view!! The honey lemon fizz cocktail and Quay Spritz is a MUST!! Definitely a place to tick off your list!!
It was my first time at HQ Bar and Kitchen restaurant when my friend invited us to a birthday dinner held there.
We had a 60 people crowd!
I was initially skeptical about the quality of the food as our 60 people crowd was quite a handful to accommodate at one shot. However, the quality of food did not disappoint. It was fusion Chinese-western cuisine. Most dishes had a slight twist to it and they weren’t typical dishes that I will see in other restaurants.
before the dishes arrived, I tried the Honey lemon fizz cocktail which was so refreshing! My friend wanted a sour but there wasn’t one on the menu, so the bartender made her a special one! Super fruity and yummy, it had fresh grapefruit and other fruits in it. We were both very impressed that the bartender was so happy and willing to go beyond the menu.
Dishes that I recommend:
- Seared duck breast with jellyfish
- Roasted cauliflower
- Five spices shoestring fries
- Wet-aged seared beef
- Five spice lamb ribs
- Salted egg yolk Lava Cake
In short, I would highly recommend everyone to go visit the restaurant and enjoy Perth’s pretty city view with extremely delicious food and drinks!

Nestling at the top of the “old New Esplanade” hotel which has been thoroughly upgraded, renovated, re-jigged and transformed into Perth’s latest boutique hotel, Quay Perth, is their rooftop bar and dining room, HQ Bar and Kitchen. This probably has the best outlook of any of the rooftops around town, looking down and over as it does to Elizabeth Quay, the river and the South Perth skyline across the water.
Best new restaurant in town. Chinese infused cuisine with tasty cocktails. The views are just too amazing to miss. Couldn't ask for better service from the friendly staff at HQ! Definitely my regular hang out spot to enjoy the sunset.
