Review Roma Republic - Perth

Amir Charkhi
Have been taking coffee in the last two days and it has been great. Quick service and great coffee. I guess my only recommendation would be to fix their land line as I tried telling them my name over the phone probably 5 times and the staff member was really patient and trying hard but was not able to hear me well. The line was really noisy and spelling it out was not helpful.

Really nice coffee in a massive mug Eggs Benedict where delightful. Looks like their rolls etc. In counter pleasant looking if they're as good as the coffee and eggs I'll be back

Staff are always friendly and helpful, the coffee is on point and the food is always delicious.

Delicious food, great cozy atmosphere and the all day brunch was a win!

Lovely place!! Enjoy their food and coffee, especially chai! Most of the staff are super friendly, although have experienced some offensive attitude from one of the female staff on 2 separate occasions - this may impact my regular visits. Otherwise 100% recommend.

Relaxing cafe with decent about of seating. Atmosphere is always positive and staff are friendly. Coffee is good, as well as their shakes. Overall a good place for a casual hangout or even to work remotely.

Visiting my daughter, im from melbourne so coffee needs to be on point and this is hitting the spot!! Had a croissant yesterday and very pleased with that too. Will come in for brunch for sure.

One of our favourite local cafes. Friendly staff and amazing food as usual!

Seriously some of the best coffee out! Get our daily grind, the occasional gluten free raw treat. Great vibes and great people behind the counter too. No place I'd rather get my coffee from!

I went for a well earnt breakfast with my toddler a few weeks ago. Although the food and coffee was ok I will not be returning here after the lack of service and respect I received after I accidently knocked my coffee (at least half of it) over trying to organise food for my son. This was straight after receiving the food. Instead of staff coming over to help me clean it or taking over (which should have been the case) so I could eat my meal whilst still hot, I was left to find something to mop up what I could (apart from one staff member showing me a tea towel, asking me if I was ok whilst roughly moping a small bit up and leaving it on the table before going again) and eat my food surrounded by the spills, which had also dripped onto the floor.

Very tasty breakfast; fresh, healthy ingredients and excellent coffee. Had the Sunrise with bacon but no toast and felt it was definitely a decent portion for the cost. Can't wait to go back very soon. Looks small from the outside but it's deceptively spacious inside. Pretty flexible about changing up menu options too :-)

Roma Republic is the best thing that's happened for Craigie! 10/10 for the leap of faith you took to start up. Your coffee, food and staff are fantastic. Coming in there, you can leave the world outside- it's a perfect little place to escape. A bit sad you're stopping dinners tho.

I’ve ordered the burrito bowl the last 3 times we’ve been. Each time it has been completely different. The second time it even had a curry powder of some kind mixed in. The last 2 times we had a long wait for food. People that arrived after us receiving their meals before us. On one occasion after asking how much longer they would be they were brought out to us without an apology or even a ‘you’re welcome’ when we said thank you. This was a really great cafe and I love the coffee but it’s been pretty disappointing of late.

I went for breakfast last Saturday, this place has a trendy and relaxed vibe. I can highly recommend the smashed avo on toast it is so delicious. We will definitely keep coming back!

Nice Venue for locals to walk to. Bringing something. Unique, creative and nice to the suburb. A great place for a lazy casual coffee, or a substantial lunch. And loving the BYO and Burger Promotion! On weekends after the Cafe closes!

Went to brunch with a couple of friends and all I can say is FANTASTIC!! The food was amazing and the service was exceptional! Definitely recommend it!

I love the ambience, it is a very relaxed place. This time I met a friend for coffee a naked bite, and banana bread. So I can't review the rest of the food except to say last time the food was delicious too. A hidden gem being in a shopping centre in Craigie I will certainly be going back!

Love Roma! I'm a local in Beldon and It's awesome that it's just around the corner. I think it's great you can text your coffee order as Perth needs more places that do this service. I enjoy the breakfast as I feel most cafes make it too complicated, the smash avo with bacon is my go to and the staff are always nice! Good work Roma
Kelly Rebecca

I totally had my wedding reception here on 31/01/2017. It was the best and I loved it and I pretty much want to live here. You guys are crushing it!

Today I visited Roma republic with my friend for some brunch, it’s kid friendly and close to home so was the perfect option. The coffee was perfect, and I had the smashed avo with bacon and poached eggs ($18). Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly! The bacon was sparse but what I had was absolutely delicious. Loved our visit and enjoyed the opportunity to pick up a bouquet of fresh flowers at the counter for only $15. Lovely to see them supporting local small businesses.

We often go here during the week. Great coffee and food, friendly staff and a good selection. Kid friendly too. Very accommodating, highly recommend.

We love Roma! I love that I can SMS my order so it is ready when I get there! And they have self checkout for the SMS orders too!! I love that they have Rewardle and often when I have earned a free one, I am generally ordering two coffees and they always give the bigger one for free! The food is reasonably priced and very yummy! (Esp their muffins!!) I get my coffee here everyday and the staff are so friendly and make the effort to get to know you! I Love a business that cares about its regular customers! We love our local!

We went there for lunch with friends n got Poor service, very average coffee n food .. limited food options .. don’t think we’ll be going back .
Katelyn Sinclair
Unfortunately we left before we got a chance to order. Terrible service, waited for 10 minutes but the staff were too busy chatting to worry about serving us. Such a shame as we were hoping for great new local!
Alicia
Very hit and miss. Coffee is decent, limited variety of food for different dietary requirements which sucks, but there's always something nice for the sweet tooth.
PerthfectBreakfast
I've been here a few times for coffee, breakfast and pizza (when they used to serve dinner) and it's just been very average. Coffees/hot chocolates have never been up to scratch. Always very weak.

Yesterday I had a banana smoothie which tasted very watered down too and the veggie breakfast with scrambled eggs. Veggie breakfast sounded great - chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, avocado, dukkah and hummus but to my surprise it came out all mixed like a stir fry. Could taste the dukkah spices throughout it and just wasn't my cup of tea.

Had breakfast with friends and tried the eggs Benny and was content with my choice. Had the green juice and a long black both of which were excellent, the juice especially. Overall this place is a great little suburb Cafe.
Natalie Rose Reynolds-Borg
Enjoyed the ambience, staff were friendly. I had the eggs benedict with bacon, cooked beautifully, hubby had the big breakfast, enjoyed. A little dissapointed they offer fresh juice which infact comes in pre done, which in my opinion is not fresh. Experienced this with juice at different venues as common place for juice but it's really not the same. The staff mentioned it's due to the time it takes, personally a venue that makes fresh juice smells amazing.
Definitely will return.

My new local 💗 ☕️
Coffee is great, service is great - am yet to try the food but will update when I have.
Really liking the use of Rewardle for loyalty points and the fact that I can SMS order coffees in advance!
PacMan
Much like flying into Canberra...the approach was less than inspiring and I must confess some prejudgment was indulged in!

So pleasantly surprised by the good quality of the coffee and the general ambiance of the place. It certainly seemed a bit out of place amongst its neighbours!

The accompanying choc croissant was adequate, however never a fan of the microwaved pastry....so a little mark down there.....

In sum....If you are in the area and need a brew, drop in and you will be satisfied.

....and as a PS. Their berry cheesecake looks the goods....must try next time.

As noted by most previous reviews, yes it's hipster. Industrial decor with black walls, naked pendants and bikes hanging from the ceiling. Extensive drinks menu and reasonably priced however matcha lovers, do not order the matcha. Lots and lots of cakes, tarts, brownies, muffins, pastries and the like on display, most if not all of which are made on site. They also have savoury goods on display which I never buy and didn't pay much attention to but vaguely recollect quiches and paninis. Pain au chocolat was nothing to write home about so I gave it a quick zap in the microwave which livened it up a smidge. Efficient but friendly bot service. Doggy friendly outdoor seating. Possibly the best cafe in a 5-10 km radius, I would revisit to sample their dine in menu.

Cute local coffee shop with very friendly staff. Coffee is really good and so is the food! People who come here and nice and its like a community which is redreshing!

It's a bit too Hipster for me but don't let that put you off, good food and good coffee a great find in the Northern Burbs.

An attractively decorated café in Craigie the Roma Republic turns out very good coffee in pleasant and welcoming surrounds. Serving breakfast and lunch with the usual suspects at breakfast - ours were well cooked, generously sized and good value - while at lunch a selection of burgers, sandwiches as well as ribs and salad are on offer. With an appealing range of cakes and pastries this is a welcome addition to the northern suburbs.

I had ordered an eggs benedict today with salmon and was so tasty. Eggs perfect, sauce had full flavour and the whole dish itself was very good all round. Presentable and great taste. Can't complain when it's like that no matter the cost. Also the mocha was made pretty good too! Will be taking my family there and recommend it to other people. And I also love the industrial, antiquey look about the place. Good warm feel to it!

I'm always worried about going to cafes in shopping centers, don't ask me why, I just never overly trust them lol

Well Roma Republic proved me wrong. It was extremely cute with a quirky interior. Nice lounge chairs at the back with a mixture of high and low tables made out of pallets and extra pieces of wood.

I ordered the smashed avocado with has browns on the side. The only downfall to this was that the piece of bread they gave was like a normal piece of multi grain toast. The avo made it a little soggy after I had been slowly eating it over half an hr or so. Other than that everything was delicious.

The only other thing that got me was that I ordered a juice (which I though was a fresh juice) for $7.50 however I found out it was actually in a bottle. I'm sorry but $7.50 for bottled juice is an exuberant amount. Unless the pope himself has blessed it? I'll stick with the water thanks!

Besides that there coffee was delicious and there was a massive line out the door!

Wonderfully friendly staff and exactly what you'd want for a local coffee shop!

The ribs are to die for and the coffee is nice. Can't wait to return.

Great little place in the suburbs. The coffee, food & staff are great. As with most popular places it does get busy & you may have to wait for your coffee (the horror)
Lila
I'm so excited that there is finally a nice coffee shop in craigie/ Beldon! Lovely decor, friendly staff and divine coffee. You can call ahead to order your coffee and food takeaway. I had lunch here with my girlfriend recently and the juice was fresh and the beef salad a little vinegar heavy but...

What a fantastic spot in the middle of suburbia! Quirky interior with comfy couches and high tables with stools. Room for prams which is a bonus plus a box of toys for the little people to play with.

I only stopped in for a coffee break so can't judge the food. Almond milk coffee was nice, probably not as strong as I'd like but still good. I also enjoyed a raw bliss ball which was huge and fairly well priced. I really liked the cake selection and that there's a good range of heathy and naughty things to choose from.

I thought this was a great place in the middle of an average shopping centre - I wish it was near my house!

A hipster cafe more than 2kms from the CBD?? Shock horror as I fall off my fixie as I adjust my top knot hairdo. Very busy for an early Sunday morning and a lovely great vibe with a mix of families, couples and small groups. We waited 15 minutes for our soy caps. Granted I was told this after I paid ;-) but I knew there would be one due to line up and people milling about the takeway area. Very good and well priced $4.5 not strong tasting but no double tap double shit taste. Lots of staff on. I will be back to try their menu offerings off peak. See suburbia ain't so bad.😉

I like the look of the place, but service must improve. It's been a long time coming that Craigie gets a cafe, so obviously you have lots of people coming in for coffee, it seems as though this is making you and your staff complacent.

I went in today with my partner and our 2 kids, we ordered 2 big breakfasts, a small latte and 2 Strawberry, watermelon, mint and lime smoothies. It wasn't long before the waitress (seemed as there was only one for a full packed cafe) brought out 2 strawberry lemonades. We mentioned that is not what we ordered, so she took them away and 5 mins later she brought out strawberry smoothies, again not what we ordered. We realized it was busy so we just didn't say anything about these and let it slide. I asked the waitress if i need to go up to the counter to get my small latte or will they bring it out as it had been 20 mins since we made the order, she replied that they would bring it out. Next the big breakfasts came out which were actually really nice, my advice though less bread more eggs. Halfway through that meal the waitress comes out and says that they didn't put the latte through and that she can show me the docket that I haven't paid for it. I found this very unprofessional and disrespectful, I said that i defiently ordered a latte and have now been waiting 25mins for it. Then she mentioned something about the docket, but in my anger I just told them not to worry about it. I then heard her talking to the young bloke at the counter and he was asking her about which table number I am, I assumed and was hoping they were going to finally make this latte. We proceeded to finish the breakfast and were about to leave when the young bloke from the counter comes up to our table and says "I heard you had an enquiry about the small latte". At this point I had enough and said that they had obviously misplaced the order and that in my opinion it was their fault. It was then that he goes well we will make one now. They should have offered that from the start instead of telling me to look at dockets.

Seriously your waitress is stressed, get some more staff in. Go to some cafes and get better. This was my first experience with roma republic and it certainly hasn't given me a good opinion.

Hipsters in Craigie? It sounds like a pretty farfetched concept – but it appears to be true. Once the only thing to get remotely excited about in Craigie was the old bowling alley. Now there’s a new reason – Roma Republic cafe. Local residents will be rejoicing that they have somewhere to get a decent coffee from. It was evident when we stopped there for breakfast a few weeks ago that this café is a welcome addition – there was a very steady stream of people coming in for takeaway coffee.

Breakfast on a Sunday- perfect!
We had the big breakfast, cherry tomatoes and smashed avo on toast, veg breakfast with poached eggs and the turkey/cranberry panini & coffees.
All our meals and drinks were absolutely delicious! Fresh bread, perfect eggs, creamiest avo with delicious balsamic. 15 minutes from order to eating. Couldn't fault this place and it will now be our new local.
Nice job Roma!!

We went for midday lunch on a Sunday. We ordered chips with mayo, Thai beef salad, margarita pizza, and pumpkin and feta pizza. Beef salad was cold, beef was mostly tender, and margarita pizza came with loads of greens. Husband enjoyed the pizza.
The Face
The place is very appealing and really well styled it would not be out of place in Leederville or Subiaco. The seating is the first problem the tables have these little stools which are just plain uncomfortable, why not have a chair? Along the wall are these cool pallet tables mounted on milk crates however the heights are wrong you cannot get your legs under the table and therefore it's not comfortable at all. ( owners cut 100mm of the bar stools )
The food is the next issue I ordered the panini and it was first of very small however the worst part was the dry, stale and dusty Turkish style bread. The red onion was raw and overpowering and the bacon almost was cremated. Not the best dish at all. My wife ordered the vegetarian breakfast with poached eggs it looked good tasted of curry powder and not much else, reminded me of curried egg sandwiches from school. Could of been a great dish with some coriander and fresh black peeper and some lemon juice very disappointing did not finish it.
This place is cool and chic and the coffee while not great was almost there and the staff where friendly. The place on Sunday should be packed it wasn't even close to full and with nothing else in the area it could be pumping. Would go back but only for coffee and cake, the cakes and macaroons looked delicious. Shame it should be so bloody good just needs some help.

Just got a coffee on my break thank god Im the boss as I waited nearly a 15 mins my advice employ some adults that have some urgency as your teenage employees are that slow it looks like their on the morfein

Cool idea. My daughter especially enjoyed the bicycle hanging from the ceiling. I found the seating uncomfortable as I was on a really high stool but i couldn't fit my legs under the table!? The coffee was meh. The raisin toast looked like tiptop. Just wasn't hugely wowed. Am keen to return to try the pizza night however!!!

I love the idea of this place but yet to have a great experience. Very hit and miss. Depends on the very young staff. Every time ive been (mostly afternoons) the staff seem unsupervised and unsure. Need some staff with experience and a dedicated barista on at all times. Twice the baristas have openly admitted that it's been weeks since they've worked on coffees or that they're new etc. so coffee seems to be luck of the draw!!! I'll be back. Hopefully it's just a few teething issues.
Andrea
Fantastic coffee and so nice to have a cafe that serves almond milk, fabulous friendly staff, awesome selection of healthy treats love this place 💕👌

So refreshing to have a decent cafe in the area! Coffee was alright but my croissant was delicious.
