Love their coffee, their brekkies... and the staff are just amazing, always happy no matter how busy they are, always have time to say hi. Great place, it's the great coffee and the staff that keeps us coming back
Fantastic service: these guys really wish to please their clientele! While no one can learn to please one-off customers if they never come back, Small Print demonstrates it gets it right pretty much first time as it has a VERY loyal clientele which is exhibited via a hive of activity throughout the day. Thanks guys for fantastic coffee and the friendliest of service - cheers :)
Yum!!! We purchased two cakes for our wedding (carrot & flour free chocolate) after being recommended by a family member. They were delivered to our venue and looked gorgeous! Unfortunately many of us didn't get to eat the chocolate one as we were having too much fun so we kept it for the next day, it kept its form and was the best breakfast EVER!
My favourite pourovers and baristas in Perth. Nuff said!
The place is hidden so Im glad my friend took me here..and we keep on coming back since! I love their coffee and the desserts. Great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city while enjoying a great cuppa coffee and some sweets.
Although hidden in the basement level of Brookfield Place, this cafe was pumping at 9am today. I was after a quiet place for my solo breaky but Small Print was very noisy. Decided to stay and try it out anyway and ordered a short macchiato topped up (perfecto!) and a rather disappointing bavarois with granola and fresh fruits. The menu built this dish up to be spectacular, as did the lady at the counter but it was such a small serve for $14... one coconut mango bavarois (think panacotta), with four half strawberries (counted them), a drizzle of passionfruit syrupy liquid and a sad sprinkling of granola which tasted like it was out of a packet but given Small Print's rep, I'll happily give them the benefit of the doubt. The dish was tasty but meagre and left me hungry.
Small Print is a CBD white collar hangout. It was filled today with suits getting their takeaways, some getting big office coffee orders, and seated groups having meetings. Background music was loud. Not even Spotify in my ears could drown it out so if you're looking for a quiet start to your day, maybe avoid this place during the week. Customer service is fast and friendly so big points for that.
Pastries here are really delicious. The ideal way to start any day is wish a freshly baked croissant and a freshly made coffee. Having it here was delightful.
A lovely cafe in Brookfield place that is always crowded with patrons getting their morning coffee fix. We ordered chocolate and almond croissant, mocha and cappuchino. Both croissant and coffee were amazing.
It is located at the basement of the complex and it needs some determination to find it. It had the ambience of hipster cafe and bakery, the barista looked passionate of what she was making. With reviews hype, I don’t find you taste beyond above average, I am after something to reminisce in the after taste.
Delicious almond croissant and flourless orange cake. The coffee was decent. We had really good service although it was really busy. It is a bit loud inside and would recommend sitting outside.
Ordered the chicken fettuccine and the garlic prawns with grilled sourdough for lunch. The fettuccine was full of flavor , an amazing dish. However, the garlic prawns was a boring dish, the prawn itself was not fresh either.
Great coffee at this cafe. Keen to try out their bakery next time, look very delicious.
Tried the chicken burger at lunch time. Fresh food and they made their own ketchup. I ordered iced matcha latte and iced coffe latte. In here they made the milk with the milk shake maker not just pour milk straight away.
Love love love!!
My friend and I were stuck for a place to eat- and we didn't want to go to one either of us had been before in the CBD. Our reliance on zomato paid off with this great recommendation - it was hard to find at first, probably because we were so hungry haha!
We went on a weekday and so it was quite busy with suits getting their coffees and reading the newspaper. I think I was the only person in the place that morning that ordered something off the menu instead of the cabinet- though to be fair, the cabinet options looked so fresh and delicious!
My order came out quickly, with beautiful presentation. Although busy, we were able to grab a table- and were kept warm inside with the smell of fresh coffee in the air. My house waffle was awesome and I loved the addition of fresh strawberries. So if you aren't afraid of suits, or if you'd like to take a closer look- check this place out 👌👌
Amazing bakery cafe. Only had a coffee this time but trendy fit out and bakers baking in the back is a great sign. The coffee is from Dukes roasters in Melbourne so it's amazing too
The coffee here is really nice and the selection of food here is bloody awesome! It can get super busy here but their times are reasonably quick considering. Its tucked away underneath most of the city's business which is good to escape!
Best coffee in the CBD with friendly staff & lots of yummy treats to try. I really like their fruit toast & the cheese & vegemite toasties.
I’ve always wanted to visit Small Print and a course in the city was a perfect excuse to do breakfast there while catching up on the pre-reading. Arriving early on this damp weekday morning the Small Print was empty but, according to another customer, this was unusual. With it is artisan bread and displays full of amazing looking pastries, it actually reminded me of the King Street Café.

Another place for breakfast before work! There is always a diverse selection of some of the most amazing pastries – available all day, everyday. I especially love their danishes and croissants! The bacon at Small Print is a wonder of this world. I requested a side of it with my mushroom ragout dish. Plus a great place that's buzzing for coffee in the mornings :)
Morning coffee, juice and spinach, cheese and tomato crossiant. The crossiant itself was absolutely delicious but the filling and the lack of toasting (it was still cold in the middle) let it down!!! Also wished there were more juice options (other than the $7.50 cold pressed juice jars!) and dirty chai needed more chai. Will give it another go for sure though!
Great breakfast and lunch spot! Probably one of the best Kale salads that I have had in the CBD area. Well worth regular visits. It gets very crowded over lunch time, so either come early or late, to score a good seat.
Popped in for brekky recently - really busy in the morning! Great atmosphere and had a really delicious long black, and eggs on toast with beautiful smokey bacon. That sourdough is something else! Superfriendly staff, efficient service and once again, really good coffee. Good stuff, good eats!
The panfried potato gnocchi with roast pumpkin, goat's cheese, almond and sage lived up to all expectations. Soft, fluffy pillows with a lovely crisp outside sat on a silky pumpkin puree that was sweet but well seasoned. I loved the plethora of chervil sprinkled on top, with those nuggets of creamy cheese. I would happily (and I mean happily) order this again and again.
Discounted from $25 to $20 BFC burger with chips however made up the savings with a $4.50 bottle of Coke Zero (eeek!)
Burger was really delicious almost to the point where you had to have another bite to make sure it was as good as you thought 👍
Chips were hand cut, nicely seasoned and complimented the burger rather than just being a side.
Minus for no cutlery on the table and lack of hand towels
We had a business lunch at the Small Print which is sort of hidden away on the lower level across from the BHP Billiton Building. The place has a very relaxed feel to it and is perfect for a casual or formal lunch, just walk in and find a table which can be difficult as its quite popular and gets very busy. This is a 'Pick what you want from the menu and go to the counter and order' type place. The prices are not cheap , which is unfortunately typical of the Perth CBD. I tried the fried chicken burger with slaw and chips. The wait was around 25 minutes and the serving was large, so don't eat anything before going. I have to say that this was quite possibly the tastiest chicken burger I've eaten to date with the fillet being cooked just right and very juicy, the secret sauce was fantastic!
Worth a visit for a business lunch but not the atmosphere to bring your family.
So glad I dropped in to small print for lunch! It was peak lunch time, so everywhere we went was really full, but this place had a few seats and very affordable food. There were three salads in the counter and I asked if I could have a mix of them all, and the friendly person on the counter happily said that would be fine! It only cost me $10, which I thought was very little considering the area and the other things for sale. I thought perhaps I'd just get a small plate with little tasters if all the salads, however they came out on a huge plate and after eating it all, I was full for the rest of the day! This will definitely be my go-to lunch spot when I'm in this area of the city next time. Very affordable prices and a lovely location!
This is a great little place tucked away beneath The Print Hall in Brookfield Place. I had been before and ordered the granola, which was delicious. The coffee I had, whilst delicious, was so small for $4, I had to get another one! Next time I ordered a large size which only comes in a takeaway cup but was a very decent size and only $4.50! Ordered the mushroom ragout, goat's cheese, broccolini and soft eggs on ciabatta. Everything was fantastic, the eggs were deliciously soft on the inside, and the bread was amazingly crunchy. Would definitely go back. Apart from being a bit busy in the queue for takeaway coffees, there were surprisingly a lot of tables available for breakfast. Service is great too.

Loveeeee this place. Wanted something simple for lunch, I took my sister here for lunch. We shared Chicken Mushroom Pie, Vegetables Wrap, Lemon Meringue Tart & Apricot Almond Tart. Each of us ordered a cup of coffee each. Lets start with coffee. It's still great as usual, one is never enough. I wished they have bigger cup or mug :( Chicken Mushroom Pie was fantastic, creamy and seasoned well. I've had better Vegies Wrap before, but don't mind Small Print's either, plenty of fillings and tasty. We loved both tarts. My sister said the meringue can be torched a bit longer though. Bought Almond Croissant for breakfast too, cant wait to taste (pretty sure it'll be great too). Service was okay today. I will be back.. Soon...

This is just the type of place I would visit every single day! It seems like they have everything from superb breakfast and lunch (made to order) dishes, great Dukes coffee, lovely pastries, yummy cakes, homemade pies, cold pressed juices, salads, cold brew coffee, baguettes and wraps and many more. I had Mushroom Ragout with Goat Milk Cheese, Almond Broccolini, Soft Eggs, Ciabatta. It's unbelievable, very delicious beyond words. Every single element was cooked to perfection and put together with care. My mocha was just perfect and I'm keen to try Chai Latte and new Matcha Latte next. Also looking forward to try their lunch dishes, especially on Thursday when they do special dish (not sure why they call it Market Thursday). Forgot to mention that they sell their homemade jam, what a star. Staffs were friendly and accommodating too. I wish they open on weekends so me & Hubby can go together. I cant wait to bring him here on my bday when he's taking a day off. I'm in love with this place and surely be back again and again and again.
Yum yum yum the pastry on the beef pie was seriously delicious. I had the bacon and egg toastie and was dissapointed when I saw that the cheese wasnt at all melted but the bread was delicious and toasted to perfection. We also ordered the fish and chips from the lunch selection which is think is a little overpriced for what is offered. Our fish was a little bit overcooked and dry but the tartare sauce was tasty and the chips were nice and fresh. My coffee was great and I would recommend you to order the ice coffee.
Loved the interior design of this place! The white tile walls and the large windows are all working wonders for me! And it wasn't that hard to find!
In terms of food, I had the fried chicken burger with chips and a pot of jasmine blossom tea for lunch. The burger was massive, heavily stuffed with coleslaw and a large piece of fried chicken breast; I had to eat with knife and fork--the unorthodox way to treat a burger. It was absolutely delicious! The chicken was lovely and juicy, though a bit on the oily side, but coleslaw balanced it well! The chips was more likely home-made wedges, unseasoned, chunky, and not very crunchy. I don't particular fancy eating oily and floppy potato chunks, hence the reduction of 1 star.
The Jasmine blossom tea was very pretty, living up to its name, but the tea itself tasted bland and really lacked the jasmine flavour. It was by far the worst jasmine tea I've ever had, and being a fervent tea drinker, this was a big disappoint, and thus the loss of another star.
Okay so I came back here a week later to try out their breakfast menu, and fell in love with their granola option! Normally I stay away from any sort of cereal option for breakfast, but for some reason I thought I should give Small Print's granola a go. It was crunchy, sweet, and absolutely delightful. The papaya slices were generous and caramelised banana was also gorgeous! The presentation was beautiful too. I also tried a bit of their mushroom on toast, but the general effect was mediocre at best.
Always fantastic. Working just around the corner, I have been to Small Print many, many times. I struggled to go past the pie cabinet at first, but I have loved every single dish and every coffee I have had here.
Last time around, they had a Fried Chicken Burger Lunch Special, which was brilliant. Every thing you expect in a great burger - Perfect bun, crunchy slaw, perfectly cooked meat, and a great sauce. The Fried Chicken was cooked to perfection, crisp batter covering, and moist inside, unlike most fried chicken burgers.
Their pies are also excellent, and the Brioche Sandwich is a winner too, all under $10!
No wonder this place is crowded all days of the week. The only complaint I suppose is that if you show up later than 1 pm for lunch, you will most likely be greeted with fewer options or even empty cabinets.
I was amazed at how on-point every single dish was during my first visit for lunch a few months ago, there was a single disappointing dish.....
A bit difficult at first to find this place, but overall I like this cafe! Coffee is good, cake and bakery also not bad. Nice atmosphere though it was a bit noisy. Would be more recommended if they have wifi and power socket for those who needs to work
My work colleague Linda was moving to a new job so we decided to go out for lunch on her last day. Although I've recently been exploring many of the food options near our work (mostly Shafto Lane / Cloisters), it;s usually a case of grabbing something to take back to the office so today we took our time at Small Print Bakery & Roastery in Brookfield Place.
Awesome pies and a good variety of real tasty food in the lunch menu!
Gnocchi is pretty amazing and Wagyu Brisket slider is real good.
Love their Thursday Meat Market specials - Check out their instagram for weekly updates on whats on the menu on Thursdays!
Pretty good. Everything as it should be for an early morning beverage and Danish to die for. This is a place to treat yourself. Get some of the quality food and great staff.. Can be noisy so look for a quiet corner.
Great coffee and always friendly service. With a on site roastery and seen to be believed cold drip systems, it always gets me to try something new :) love it!
Small Print are located underneath the Print Hall in Brookfield Place. The bakery turns out some stunning products and is well worth a visit for that alone. In addition Dukes (of Melbourne renown) have set up a coffee roasting operation right here in the CBD and are doing a great job producing fine artisan roasted coffee.
The pies are standout!
A life changing experience with a chocolate croissant today... So good
One of the better coffee places around. Even though it was slightly burnt, was still better than most places.
Good layout, nice food, and friendly service but coffee needs a little work - a little over extracted
Impressed - Stand out service, awesome food. I had heard great things about Small Print. I was very excited to try it out for some breakfast. Despite it being busy and I had to wait a bit to get a table, it was a fairly painless experience. Unfortunately there was a mix up in the kitchen, and my vegetarian friend ended up with the eggs I had ordered and bacon on her plate, while I ended up with her eggs and no bacon. A little bit disappointing, but I was extremely impressed with the way they handled it. They took back the food, re-made it and also offered me a refund on my meal, which I refused as it was only minor inconvenience. They insisted and brought the a cash refund to the table. It's service like this you don't seem to get in Perth, and this kind of situation I find is never handled well. The polite and apologetic nature of the waitress and her instance on doing the right thing by us was extremely impressive.
My eggs were incredibly fluffy and light, a great contrast to the fresh crunchy sour dough bread. The bacon was crunchy and it every mouthful of all three components was delicious.
I left Small Print very impressed, I will definitely be going back.
Best Bircher Museli Ever. I had the best bircher I've ever had at a cafe. Yum. Presentation was outstanding and attention to detail in the dish was clear. The small delicate chunks of pistachio and other lovely elements made a wonderful dish. Yummo. Serving size was good too. Service was grand. Shall be returning!
Yay!. I can't believe I only just found this place. Hiding below ground level at Brookfield place is a fantastic gem of awesomeness. The coffee and baked goods are great, the service is great, and the atmosphere is also great. That's 3 greats, that's a strike and there aren't too many of those around. I'll be back and soon...
Best crossaints in the CBD and not busy so coffee come quick and are hot and silky
MUST TRY. Amazing almond croissants and great baguettes!!! extremely tasty!!
Had the chicken and chorizo pie.. Small serving but TASTY, even though my pie had no chorizo? My friend had the pumpkin and chicken salad but there was overload of pumpkin and 3 pieces of chicken. Friendly staff and Nice ambience anyhow...
They are good. Seriously good.. On a morning where the temperature evoked nostalgic emotions about my days as a young cub, we ventured to Small Print.
Having heard nothing but positive things about the quality of their product - my expectations were lofty. And I wasn't disappointed.
The double espresso shot was as close to perfection as you'll see. The flavour river-danced its way across this reviewer's tastes buds and delivered a hit that not even Aleem Dar could miss.
Just as you can't make a baby in 1 month by getting 9 women pregnant - some things take time. Our waiting time of 15 minutes was the only aspect of the experience that would constitute a potential drawback.
The fact that this is the only 'negative' aspect of the whole experience merely reflects the quality of coffee as the wait was worth it.
My rating: 17.5 Hugh Jackmans out of 20. What Small Print lack in stature, they make up for in quality of their double espressos. You can expect a ruggedly handsome coffee experience that leaves you questioning why you'd go anywhere else.
Small Print is the place type of place that has more comebacks than Johnny Farnham with a cold sore because they are seriously good. This won't be The Last Time I'll be a customer, that's for sure.
Espresso experts.. Small print has the best coffee in the city. This is in reference to the one in the lobby, I'm told both areas are equally good. Their espresso is amazing.
Love their flourless chocolate cake, best ever ! The lemon meringues are divine too ! Really like this place !
Lovely place. Love to go there and get a cup of coffee and Pastry as a treat to myself :)))))
Love love love. Great place. Love the food, service has always been good - Paula is a star! Would go back time and time again. Pastry and breads are fantastic!
Great lunch spot. Small Print is beautiful as it is as a cafe with good variety of fresh baguettes & sandwiches as well as freshly baked pies & pasties. On top of that, they have a good variety of sweets, ranging from muffins, pastries, croissants, etc which you can treat yourself with after a good meal. The best part is all foods are served at a very reasonable price. They do table service and staffs are friendly. This would definitely be my regular lunch spots.
Great good and coffee. Bakery items are to die for!
Had brekky here last week mine was yummo i had the bacon egg mushroom baked bean & pork truffle sausages however the other people i went with had the bacon and egg both meals were cold asked for sauce on one didnt get it asked for the eggs to be flipped on the other didnt happen i think to be sucessful in not writing done ones order you need to get the order right!
Awesome little venue!. Came by here after having breakfast at another place. We already had coffee but wanted another one just to check it out. The coffee roasting bean room is so cool! And the bakery is open a bit, so you can see all the busy chefs!
Looking forward to trying all four restaurants in the print hall building!:)
Great coffee. Thanks for the awesome coffee! Loved the Duck pastie and lightly toasted sandwiches.
Found it at last, terrific addition to the city, I had a great coffee and decadent chocolate and caramel slice, could do with a sign pointing down the stairs so the rest of us (other than the Brookfield workers) can find and enjoy this place too :)
Nice Coffee. Have been three times, and has not dissapointed each time.
Coffee has been consistently good, dine in and T/A. Tried the almond croissant and it was fab - would rate the croissant as the same if not better
than what is on offer at JPS. Agree with perthfoodprints that it was not overly sweet, but definitely memorable and well made. Good tucked away location, plenty of room to move and not too much noise makes for a great place to catch up.
Fantastic coffee with a nice body & intensity. Pies are fab too...try the beef cheek pie. Great addition to the City.

The dish is pretty as a picture, decorated with edible flowers and though they don’t appear it, the strawberries are actually poached to be perfectly soft and retain their shape.
With all of the items on the menu being under $10, exceptional service and damn good coffee, Small Print is one of The Pavarotti's favourite spots in Perth.
Small Print is buzzing at lunch time. Food comes out quite quickly though, so give it a try on your lunch break! We had the chicken and avocado toasted roll and a delicious sweet potato, chorizo and mozzarella salad. I gave the cold drip coffee a try (it comes in a cute little medicine-style bottle) and I’m not sure I’m a fan. I think I’m too used to espresso coffee! Our long macchiato was lovely. The combination of ingredients and flavours went really well together. The eggs were poached to perfection. Another pleasant surprise with the buttery toast with another poached egg on the side. The toast was one of the best I've had in a long time. Overall $25 certainly felt pricey for breakfast on a weekday, but the quality of food and presentation certainly made it feel like a $25 meal.
Decent breakfast, lunch and pastry options (all pastry and breaad is baked onsite) make Small Print one of the best daytime options in Brookfield Place.
I did mention last year that Small Print has some of the best coffee in Perth - that's still true. The variety and the expertise is still unmistakable; the coffee is so good that I literally feel like a royal after I've finished drinking from my Dukes.
The Foodie Hub caught up with Small Print’s Manager and Roaster, Simon Catoni for a discussion about Small Print & on a subject many of us love talking about – coffee.
This year I’ve decided that I’d have lunch with my husband in the city at least once a month. It’s a great way to try new places and also for him to see a bit of his son during the day.
First stop during our coffee crawl. I didn’t get a chance to try any food as I arrived there straight from my morning breakfast adventure. But coffee (my #2 already at 9am) was great.
Part of the Print Hall establishment Small Print is a bakery and coffee roaster serving tasty food and sensational coffee at fairly reasonable prices in the heart of Perth’s CBD. Small Print is hidden underneath Print Hall, the former Newspaper House on St Georges Terrace, it also forms part of new and exciting Brookfield Place and this is the 3rd place we are visiting in the newly developed precinct. Walking into Small Print I can just imagine how busy this little place would be during the weekday morning runs. Saturday morning however is a different story, it is peaceful and only a handful of people around. Nestled in a corner of skyscraper central, it almost feels like I am back in Tokyo and not Perth A brand new and a modern interior The interior is pretty impressive especially the deck chairs! The coffee machine has it’s very own corner space and several grinders are ready with the various beans on offer. It wasn’t until we had placed our order for coffees that we rea
It can be quite lovely when an opportunity presents to visit somewhere new when you weren’t expecting it. Such was the opportunity last week when I went to a meeting in town with Boss B and he fancied a visit to Small Print Baker and Roastery, the newest addition to the ever impressive Brookfield Place complex. It’s quite the buzzing little cafe. Now Boss B is a big fan of his coffee and had heard it on the grapevine that Small Print was packing some impressive coffee making hardware. As noted on their website, “ All our coffees are freshly roasted, in-season, current crop offerings grown by quality focused farmers throughout the world .” So Boss B’s expectations were high, especially since they were using a top of the line La Marzocco Strada machine. The barista was a friendly fellow who had a good in depth chat into Boss B while he prepared our order of 7 flat whites to take back to the team in the office. “ Our baristas are intimately familiar with the varietals, regions, and proc
lovely ambience & great coffee. Asian barista (didn't get his name) was happy to talk and explain his craft. I had a coffee flight in the end (pictured). a great experience overall.
My experience there was okay, I came on a non-peak hour so the service was decent. The latte I ordered was good; the french toast I ordered was really nice, it came out beautifully, the toast was really fluffy and tasted nice.
You could tell that the espresso was a decent pull but the ratio of milk and coffee was off. Barista wasn't very good based on the coffee I got and the latte art I saw for the other customers
Pies are tasty although pastry was a little doughy. Coffee is good
Excellent coffee and food - the pies are great as are the burgers. There also have a huge array of baked goods that are baked on site and are delicious. There is indoor and outdoor seating. It can be quite noisy inside. This is hidden down under the print hall and is highly recommended
Funky modern decor, friendly staff and good quality artisan coffee. When I visited I ordered a long macchiato topped up which was pretty good although not very hot (lukewarm at best).
It can get pretty busy too and I had to wait 10 minutes for takeaway (mid-morning on a weekday). It's also a bit hard to find. Find Print Hall and head downstairs. It's tucked away underneath on the lower walkway with cafes and restaurants on each side.
