Our friends recommened this restaurant and we had dinner here tonight. WOW great food. We just got back from thailand last week and never thought we would find good thai food in perth again but we did here. 5 *****
Tonight was our first visit and we can found the food and service excellent. Will definitely visit again and recommend it to friends.
Authentic food.
Friendly and efficient service.
And so close to home
Authentic Thai cuisine. Very impressed with the authenticity. A must try!
Had take away from Thai Esarn a couple of times now and it has been fabulous! Best Thai food I have had locally. Highly recommended. The staff are really lovely too.
Yummy, yummy, yummy! Deliciously authentic Thai food - my favourite dish is the green curry!
Perfect food, perfect service. They deserve 10 stars rather than 5 ;) xxx
Really enjoyed our visit. Food and service amazing. Will be back
Wonderful of Thai Food!!! yummy!!
Authentic and delicious thai food!. Sweet, sour salty and spicy. Service is excellent, portions are large and the pricing is very reasonable. Very warm and inviting atmosphere. Highly recommended!.
4.75 actually. This cosy little restaurant tucked away in Bayswater probably has the most authentic thai cooking in Perth. Whereas other thai restaurants tend in my opinion to sometimes bend towards western tastebuds, Esarn thankfully does not. The tom Yam Gung soup in particular was delicious. The service is just nicely attentive without being intrusive. I would happily go again. Recommended
I went there for my friend’s birthday. Food are spicy but it is lovely. I cannot eat too spicy foods. All my friends can eat spicy foods. Staff are friendly and service is good.
My husband and I went to Thai Esarn for lunch Friday last week for the first time. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who showed us the menus and came back to take out order. We chose an entree of stuffed chicken wings and an entree of fish cakes. I ordered the beef salad for mains and my husband ordered the massaman curry. The wings were excellent! Crispy and very morish. The fish cakes were also very good, we always order fish cakes at Vietnamese restaurants and these were the same ones we get from them, very tasty. My beef salad had great flavour and spice but the serve was very small and the beef itself was very, very tough. The salad was a tomato quartered and some slices of cucumber with a very nice zesty, spicy dressing. I've never ordered this before so not sure if that's how it is supposed to be. My husband's massaman curry had huge pieces of really tender beef with potato pieces in a beautiful sauce. He loved it 👍Overall I was disappointed with my salad, I was still hungry when we left but... I would go back another time and try something else on the menu.
THE best Thai within at least 50kms IMO!! Great staff (though never eaten in!) But takeaway is always on the dot, piping hot and flavours that just cannot be reproduced at home.... why would you even try!!! Waiting time for phone orders is around 20 minutes, which says to us they are 'on it' as soon as you phone through. Without doubt, our favourite go to place for over 10 years! And great that they are open virtually all the days / times now- loyal as labradors to us!!🤗🤗🤗🤗
They are so friendly and helpful. Their food is so tasty and full of flavour. I'm a vegan and they always check "no animal products" before making my food. Decor is quite old and outdated but doesn't matter when the food is this yummy 😋
Subtle flavours that enlighten palette. Which once consumed continue variances of flavour allowing underlying fusion of ingredients. Such infusion coordinated with perfectly prepared produce equates to an unexpected experience. This enjoyable dance on ones palette is enhanced by enthusiastic, friendly staff. Matching a rustic decor made much more unbelievable as situated along Perths Eastern Train line at Bayswater.
One of the best Tom Kha soups in Perth. Golden money bags are filled with delicious filling & really nice staff too. Bit pricey, but worth it.
With a Thai dinner planned, we decided to give Thai Esarn a go, because of it high rating.
And it's rating lives up to the experience. Service is friendly, fast and very courteous. The variety of dishes were aplenty to choose from. And the dishes we had, were a delight to the eyes and tastebuds.
A most definite recommendation for this restaurant, and we are planning to come back, very very soon.
Dined here tonight for my mums 50th birthday. Very accomodating considering we had a large group. I ordered deep fried tofu with peanut sauce for entree, was delicious! That peanut sauce is to die for! Was like melted peanut butter, which im a big fan of! For main i ordered the Vegetable Pad See Ew, which was very salty, but packed full of flavour, very delicious. Hubby ordered the Red Curry in Mild, very spicy, but also full of flavour. Nice sticky white rice too. Yes the decor is outdated but the food definitely makes up for it. Will definitely be back again :)
The interior is typically Thai and nothing flashy, but the authentic Thai dishes are delicious and well-priced. Stir fries and pad thai go down well. For something lighter, the Seafood and glass noodle salad, with a tangy dressing, is particularly good. This is traditional Thai and you can go silly with chilli if you like it hot.
I had the Chicken Tom Yum soup and it would have to be the best I have ever had. Strong, fragrant and has quite a kick to it even though I only had medium hotness. Will be back again!
Really loved it! Have been here twice and have enjoyed it each time. My food was great but on the second occasion my family were not impressed with there meals. They were a bit on the colder side once served (it was a Sunday night full house so that could have been why) but it's not really an excuse. I will definitely come again but it might not be for everyone as my family weren't sold on it like I was. Food took awhile to come out but again probably because it was busy. It's always packed when I've driven past no matter what day it is!
Great food at a very affordable price. I've paid a lot more for Thai that was nowhere near as good. The Green Curry has perfect flavour and right amount of spice (for someone that doesnt like it too spicy) and the Milk Tea was a nice companion to the dish. Be aware this is a BYO restaurant, however there is a booze shop accross the road if you forget to bring something alcoholic to drink.
Decent value for money, the food is always good and the service is great. The moo yang is my favourite dish to get, the dipping sauce it comes with is so spicy and it's great! The coconut juice is amazing too ☺️
Brilliantly authentic Thai food, spicy, scrumptious, we dine in or take away frequently!
Salads, esarn specials, and service is fantastic!
Baby friendly and adult friendly too ;)
Real Thai food at reasonable prices. When your Thai partner says its very good, it is! Don't let location fool you. Gets lots of local support & heaps of takeaway order. Thai staff are very friendly & service is quick.
This gem of a restaurant is well worth a visit. The staff are warm, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the service is efficient and speedy. The food is delicious and the menu is extensive enough to cater to all tastes. It is justifiably very popular as it is well patronised for both sit-down and takeaway. Don't miss Thai Esarn.
That was by far the best lunch I've had at my desk. Lunch breaks won't ever be the same again.
Thai Esarn is literally 1 minute drive from work. Wish I knew how good it was a year ago.
I've just wolfed down a plate of Pineapple Fried Rice, 2 Pork Spring Rolls and the amazing Pad Thai.
So much flavor. Sweetness and spice.
$32 and there's easily 3 more meals left over! Soooo good.
Tomorrow I'm getting the Crispy Fish Salad.
And my epic food coach DoubleKickChick and I are VERY SERIOUSLY discussing dining in for dinner. So satisfied. So delicious.
Great little local gem serving well priced, authentic Thai food by friendly smiling waitstaff. We like spicy food and ordered our dishes as medium which turned out to be quite hot - fine for us but be wary if you're sensitive to chilli :)
Top notch Thai food, friendly staff and low prices - definitely one of my regulars until I sadly moved away. Will be missed!
Interior is a bit "cheap and cheerful" for dining in, but the food makes up for it.
This is the best thai place ever!! It makes me feel like home. The food is authentic and excellent with affordable pricing. The staffs are very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!
Truthfully a delicious Thai experience, specifically Esarn Thai. Hot, spicy and silky meals, swimming with fresh ingredients.
Mixed entree consisting of a fish cake, moneybag, spring roll and a chicken wing were well cooked and yummy. Tom Kha Gai, equally good though in a touch in the sweet side.
Followed by an enjoyable Duck Red Curry and rice. Servings were good size and staff attentive. Haven't had a bad meal here yet. One of the best Thai places in Perth.
Delicious food with fresh ingredients and great service from the staff. Appreciated being asked if we enjoyed our meal. Definitely recommend - we have returned a few times now and have to say Thai Esarn is one of the best Thai restaurants in Perth 👍
Very good food! Nice staff!
Not fancy but you get great tasty dishes at a reasonable price. Friendly staff. We loved it.
BEST THAI IN PERTH. My husband and I stumbled across this hidden gem by chance. We have driven 40 minutes from Butler to satisfy a thai esarn craving! We now live much closer and cant recommend this place enough. The pad see ew is to die for and my husband orders the chicken basil religiously. Massaman is also spectacular! Friendly service and huge portions. Cannot go wrong here.
Fabulous thai!. Service was great, food was excellent love the spice! Highly recommend the squid and cashew nut so great cant wait to eat here again!
First time.. As my first experience here, I was happy. Ordered money bags and Tom Kha soup for takeaway. Staff were friendly. Food was great. Only negative, I thought the soup was quite small comparitive to other asian takeaway soups, although it was mid price range. All up, I will definately eat here again.
Arroy mak mak (delicious in Thai). We nearly licked our plates. food was so good. service was impeccable. price was reasonably cheap mak mak! will be back for sure!
Moved 4 Food. I am just waiting to go and pick up my order, so thought I'd take the opportunity to write a review.
Discovered Thai Esarn about a year ago when my sister and I were looking for some cheap local eats. She being in Basso and me in Maylands at the time, this seemed an efficient equidistant solution. Lo and behold it turned out to be more than just the cheap and convenient nosh we had hoped. The food is excellent; flavourful, fresh and good value. The staff are lovely too. We recommend it to everyone, and our favourite dish is the massaman.
Now I live in Bayswater, just around the corner. I'd like to think it is coincidence, but I think perhaps my taste buds subtly influenced my real estate decisions...
Best thai in perth!. I've been here many times, never had any issues. The food is lovely, very spicy and traditional.
The service is also great and fast.
Absolutely fantastic food, everything I've tried so far is gorgeous. My favorite thai in Perth. Cheers, will be coming back regularly.
I really like this restaurant with yummy food and nice staffs. I gonna come back again^_^
Free home delivery!. If your lazy and want a home delivery alternative to pizza then this is the place for you. Tasty reasonably priced thai food and the convenience of not having to leave the house!
Without doubt, the best food/value Thai in Perth...the tofu starter is to live for!! The flavours in every dish we have ever tried are spot in..if you ask for chilli..beware, they do it properly!! Love this place!!
I love Thai food and this place is one of my favourite, really traditional Thai
Great every time. This place is my local - I live nearby and go frequently and I love it everytime. The food is fantastic and the staff are lovely.
A reviewer stated it was squishy - perhaps that is because Thai Esarn is no longer a secret. I’ve never had this problem, though I do tend to go early, on my way home from work.
Dine in or takeaway I’ve never had a bad meal. (I’ve never had it delivered, because that's just laziness when I live just up the street!).
and yes, they are spicy.
Cannot go past the larb gai, must.have.it.every.time.
Definitely the place to go for authentic, spicy Thai food. New owners since my last visit, sorry to see Andrew has left but glad the food is still so good!
Drinks
Its BYO - the best kind (alcohol only)
Food
Entree - Definitely recommend the tasting plate consisting of a very tasty fish cake, money bag, spring roll and a really special stuffed chicken wing
Main - we went for a green chicken curry, Penang curry with duck meat, larb gai (minced pork with herbs and prices) and a deep dried chilli rice dish we can't remember the name of. All dishes were awesome with the Penang curry the stand out for me. The serving sizes are ample and this filled up the two of us (we eat a fair bit though)
Highly recommended, in my top 3 Thai restaurants in Perth
Consistently high quality good value Thai food, very flexible for vegetarians... excellent ambience!
By far the best and most authentic humble Thai comfort food. Faultless in portion size, taste, price. Great value for yummy Thai food. Spicy and good!
AMAZING food! Best Thai I've ever had. Everything was delicious and the service amazing - definitely worth every dollar and more.
Duck Pad Thai- amazing! Penang curry- amazing! Word for the wise though- everything is pretty spicey, even the mild, so if you aren't good with spices you better tell them! So accommodating with kids and and taking spice out. Super friendly, reasonable prices.
Reel Thai food. Once a week My wife and I get takeaway from thisThai Restaurant and diner there too Love the food fantastic service Great staff I recommend it!
Love it!. We have been here a lot and every time we get fantastic service and beautiful food. Just love it and would highly recommend it!
Authentic Thai food. True the statement on the menu, the delicious food is truly bloody spicy, even for Thai standard and keep us coming back. However, you can order none spicy.

Great value for money food and a little bit of Issan right here in Perth. We'll be coming back for sure!
Hidden treasure but don't let the decor fool you. The staff were efficient, friendly & very eager to please.
The food was great if you don't mind it spicy. Apparently the food is influenced by the North East of Thailand & completely different to where & what we were used to.
We had the raw pork sausage dish which was terrific. Would highly recommend it but beware.... it's hot!!!
The prices are great & they do free home delivery which we will definitely be taking up.
Highly recommended
Delicious, fresh food - recommend the tom yum soup and Penang curry!!
Refreshingly Thai flavours. Lead by the earlier reviews I came to the Esarn just 1 trainstop from where I was staying whilst on a course in Perth.
Yes its a typically unassuming restaurant, modest decor with soothing Thai music in the background.
My mixed entree was the same as I had at a Thai restaurant the previous night 1 station in the other direction. Similar prices and serving sizes but I think overall captured the thai flavours better.
The main I chose was a deep fried fish in a red curry with thai spices. Pla Lard Prik. Normally I would not go for a fried fish but it was definitely not oily and slightly hot. The serving was generous enough to forego the sweets I had contemplated. The two young thai couples sitting beside me with their thai chatter added to the authenticity of the meal at no extra cost and confirmed the locals gave it the thumbs up as well.
ummm... one more night in Perth - maybe I will try an Esarn dish tomorrow night!
Quite simply a hidden gem. What a lovely surprise. Wonderful authentic Thai flavours at a very reasonable price. Highlights for us were the traditional Issan (north eastern Thai) specialities - listed on the very last page at the back of the menu.
Nham Krook Kao, a dish of deep fried marinated rice with pork sausage, pork skin, roasted chilli and lashings of lime juice and spring onions to balance richness, received the thumbs up. We ordered it medium hot (well, I said to the owner - we do like chilli, but please don't kill us), having heard of the North Eastern Thai reputation for loving it super spicy. Yes, it was hot, but not tongue numbingly so. A truly delicious dish - one I haven't heard of or tried before.
The second stand out was the traditional grilled pork with lime, chilli and pepper. A simple dish of tender slightly charred pork fillet, accompanied with a spicy sour dipping sauce and cabbage/carrot side. Amazing. I would order this one again in a flash.
All this accompanied with the North Eastern Thai sticky rice (authentic accompaniment for this area of Thailand) and washed down with some cider from the Baysie bottle-o next door. Good times.
A hidden gem in Bayswater - Thai Esarn Restaurant is a place I would never have visited by accident. It’s a trek from my house and in a seedy area, but I’d happily risk having my windscreens smashed. This blog post is long overdue and a compilation of 2 or 3 different dinners.
Pass this place every week day to get to work. Been meaning to try it as they have a pretty cheap lunch special and most of my Thai students eat here. Which is a good indication that the food is pretty authentic.
Well got to say for $8.50 lunch special this is bang for your buck. Really cannot fault it for the price. This place has to be in contention for cheap eats in Perth!!! Pretty good flavours and is pretty saucy which I do like. Will definitely come back here more often for lunch!! Especially when it is a walking distance from my workplace..
Best Thai flavors that we have had in a long while .
From the happy staff to the dipping sauce that come out with the dishes that makes you taste buds go crazy .
Well we can't go to Thailand so this food is the next best thing .
From deep fried squid to the Lab Moo, which is minced pork with shallots, chilli, coriander and lime , wow great mix of flavors.
Moo Yang , marinated pork with garlic, pepper and Thai herbs . Served with Thai spicy sauce . And Thai fried rice with big chunks of chicken in it . I dipped the chicken pieces in the spicy sause, absolutely perfect .
Place is BYO but they make a great Thai ice tea .
So tasty. Really good prices. Best Thai food I've had in Perth
Staff are super friendly. Flavours are authentic and so good. Price is also pretty good. BYO so you can grab a bottle of wine to go with your meal. Very pleasantly surprised and super keen to return and try more dishes. Highly recommend. Great Thai restaurant.
Best Thai restaurant I have been to in my life! The food is delicious and I am addicted to the iced milk tea. My favourite. The atmosphere is also very relaxing with the water feature and everything. Makes me feel like I’m on holiday. Just what I needed after a stressful day. Third time eating here and will definitely visit again soon
Absolutely beautiful Thai food. So mush flavour and the staff were so nice and friendly. Will be back to try more dishes soon. Very well priced as well I thought 👍
Just moved into the area, love a Thai red chicken curry, gave Esarn a try and easily the best I've had, found my new local! 😁
