Review Nolita - Perth

Nic Van Heurck
Enjoy a spritz, fresh entrees (prosciutto, carpaccio, calamari & Arancini) and beautiful food whilst you sit back and enjoy the atmosphere! Nolita is a family favourite and whether you are sitting toastie inside in winter or outside in summer sun, you always feel comfortable! The owners are friendly, knowledgeable and make it a tailored experience (remembering your name) and always making sure you are accommodated!

Awesome tucked away Italian wine bar. Great menu lovely service. Great food and good wine. I would expect this place to be more booked out. In a laneway right in front of Claremont shops.

A close friend of mine has wanted to take me to Nolita for a while now and we finally went one evening. I got one of the pasta specials on that night, it sounded delicious. After waiting for about 20-30 minutes for our meals to come my pasta was quite noticeably undercooked as the crunch was still there. Now I’m no expert at cooking pasta to perfection but I do know that pasta is not suppose to taste how it did at a restaurant like this.

This is my favourite restaurant! I need my regular fix of their veal cottoletta at least once a month. It's the best. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service. Can't recommend too highly. Enjoy :)

Thanks Jon, his wife, and the rest of the staff. We feel so welcomed anytime we dine in at Nolita. food was amazing and the service is 10 out of 10. Highly recommended and Much appreciated the dining experience in Nolita.

Booked Nolita for our daughters birthday - we were told when we got to our table that none of the mains were available. We were given A Specials Menu and after choosing our meals from this were then told they had sold out! The waiter was miserable and dumped our food on the table - an email beforehand to tell us of the problems they were having would have good as we would have eaten elsewhere. Will not eat there again. Thank you Nolita for spoiling our daughter’s birthday

I have never had a bad meal or bad service at Nolita! We have been coming here for many years and it's always flawless! Wonderful service and amazing food. Highly recommend :)

A quaint little Italian restaurant. Good ambiance but can get very busy. Spaghettini is the best option and the truffle fries a great addition:) however a humble suggestion would be to allow for takeaways and deliveries to lessen the congestion and generate outreach of new customers and more regulars. And ofcourse more opening hours!

We have dined at Nolita three times and loved the food. Being in lockdown we decided to try delivery. We had three dishes - all three covered in an unappetizing tomato sauce. It seemed that the food had been prepared well before and then covered with the same tomato sauce. The worst part was that it cost us around $85!!!!!!! Bye bye Nolita. Try Bistro Felix instead.
Queen Of Bad Timing
Is there anything as soulfully satisfying as pasta? Personally, I’m not sure there is! Cue: Nolita in Claremont, which sits on the main Bay View strip and has been a restaurant I’ve been wanting to visit, yet time never seemed to be on my side.

Pleasant atmosphere, service and food. I don't think the price point is quite right though. Rather expensive for what it is. Although we quite enjoyed the evening, it wasn't a stand out.

Had a wonderful night here, everyone enjoyed their meals and service. Waiters were attentive and went the extra mile for one vegan. Highly recommend!

My partner and I always love dining here. The fresh pastas are amazing and the weekly specials don't disappoint. The staff are all friendly and attentive as well.

Nolita is a stylish little eatery. Set amongst the chic boutiques of Bayview Terrace, the modern Italian restaurant has a very Claremont feel – sleek, high-end and architecturally designed. We’re greeted at the door by a friendly waiter with the warm, musical tones of an Italian accent. The intimate dining room is long and narrow. We are seated along the wood panelled feature wall, poured water, with lemon and directed to the very informative menus which are a wealth of information.

Went here for dinner last minute. Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend. All the pastas are home made from scratch. Ingredients fresh and delicious. Friendly courteous staff. Good wine list also.

Great atmosphere, good and friendly service. Quite noisy. Entrées were really lovely but quite disappointed by my gnocci- soggy and a bit bland. Yummy dessert.

Nolita is truly top notch italian! The menu is somewhat expensive but it's worth it for the quality of food and service you get when dining there. Would definitely recommend!
Truth Be Told Australia
We didn't get to dine here but we had takeaway through UBER eats !! We order Ravioli with beetroot ricotta, broadbeans & pine nuts, Fettuccine with chicken and veal meatballs, salt & pepper squid, and fries with truffle oil. Really enjoyed all dishes. The squid was really tender and well seasoned. Both pasta dishes were great, especially the Meatballs they were really moist and full of flavour. We all loved the combination of the ravioli and Beetroot. Would be keen to dine in next time 😊

Had a lovely evening. Nolita is a convenient - better than average - Italian Ristorante in the heart of Claremont's shopping Mecca. The menu is very well presented with a substantial offering for those with allergies from appetizers to share through to mains and desserts. The wine list is comprehensive with offerings from local vineyards and imports from Italy. The staff are really friendly with genuine Italian authenticity. If you're local or feel a bit peckish while out shopping in Claremont, Nolita is a solid choice....

The food here now is good but not what it used to be, at each level of the menu, some of their old star dishes have been changed or have gone, either to save money or simply new chefs, so it is still good food but not the great food it once served. As an example the Crab Pasta is not the light but tasty dish it once was, the crab is now over cooked and the angel hair pasta is now spaghetti, so a bit of a pale imitation also the desert menu lacks interest.

Enjoyed a delightful experience when dining at this restaurant. The cuisine was excellently prepared and presented beautifully and was delicious, tasty and unique. An affordable and quality wine list was evident and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Staff were welcoming and polite attending punctually to our needs.Highly recommend this establishment

Had a fantastic meal at Nolita to celebrate a birthday. All the meals looked amazing and tasted even better. The cocktails were to die for and the deserts topped of an excellent meal. The staff were very attentive and efficient with their service.

I will definitely be booking a table here for my next occasion...or just when I get hungry again!

On a Tuesday evening, we went to this restaurant after 8pm. There was 5 of us wanting dessert. The restaurant was about 2/3 full. There was a few more empty table and nobody waiting behind us. They turn us away telling us they have other people waiting for table. We are very disappointed. I don't think I will ever return to try it. I found the staffs are very snobbish.

Instead we went next door to Bellissimo which is 2 doors down the road and they welcome us. They seated us at a waiting table while they prep for a table for us.

Lovely Italian restaurant- the sister of La Lola, my favourite little restaurant that unfortunately closed down earlier this year :(. When we went, I ordered the rabbit papardelle, meatballs, chips and profiteroles. The meatballs are smothered in rich tomato sauce- they were perfectly done and not too fatty. The only downside was they were slighty cold. The chips are amazing as the truffle oil contains so much flavour that complements the saltiness of the chips. The parpedelle is a delight, the pasta cooked al dente and the rabbit braised until it is soft. The sauce is rich and I usually dip my chips in. The profiteroles are nice and warm-(and covered in chocolate sauce) with a creamy scoop of vanilla icecream in between each one.

Came here again for dinner- this time on a Friday night! Definitely still a 5 star rating! Staff are soo lovely. Food was freaking Delicious. Highly recommend.

Went here last night for dinner! Table of 6. Got there at 6pm and the restaurant filled up super quick. Service was fantastic, food was delicious, great atmosphere. Couldn't fault this place!

A really nice small Italian restaurant with a dash of New York on Bay View Terrace, Claremont.
Since moving from Melbourne to Perth, Nolita has become one of our favourites.
The ambiance has good vibe, always seems busy, particularly in the evening. Wait staff are great, good service, always welcoming, obliging and helpful, even when run off their feet.
The menu is changed regularly although fairly limited, but adequate to deal with different tastes. We have found that the food is of high standard, well prepared and presented, but without "Chieffy" flourishes. Their pasta is superb and mains very good. Typical of quality Italian style Trattorias.
Pricing is reasonable, particularly for Perth restaurants.
If you are looking for a relatively cheap Australian/Italian big pasta and pizza big main dishes style joint to enjoy with a large number of friends, best try somewhere else. Plenty of good places of that type.

Food was great, no complaints from our party of 5. The service was not so much. I booked a table for 6 people a few days earlier. As it always is with friends, occasionally people will be late/no show. We arrived there on time and a 6th friend wasn't able to make it which we realised about 30mins later after we had ordered wine . So, the waiter made us all move and we crammed on 2 small tables rather than 3, so they could use another table for walk ins. I think that is just a bit rough!

What a disappointment!Nolita used to be so good. The other night I dined there with some friends. My beef carpaccio was overdressed and the prawn linguine was tasteless. For the price you pay you would expect much better. The only good things were the wine and the coffee. 2

Delicious silky smooth pasta - however the portions are on the smaller size. The white truffle frites were some of the tastiest fried potatoes that I've had. I don't like the taste of truffle when it is overly strong but here it was a nice subtle flavour that complemented the Parmesan that was sprinkled on top.

The smaller size of the mains meant we had lots of room for something sweet, though I probably would have preferred more of the mains. Nice coffee to round things off too.
I love this place but my wife doesn't. Food is authentic and is an even quality. Never misses a beat in my eyes. Certainly can cost but the quality stands up to price.

Had dinner for the first time here and was pleasantly surprised. The ambience was delightful and added to the good food and service. Both dishes were well-cooked and delicious. A little on the pricier side but I'll return if I'm in the area again!

Dined here tonight, absolutely lovely, the atmosphere, the wonderful attitudes of the wait staff and the food was beautiful!
Really recommend this place if you are after some good and different Italian!

Have been to Nolita's on a couple of occasions. Such a special little place. Arancini balls taste like something my nonna would make.Really impressive. Food portions are small but great. Quality over quantity. Everything we had was delicious. I had the seafood linguni as main and it was out of this world! Dont miss this place. Hidden little gem.

Lunch for three yesterday.
Pasta of the day with shrimps, scallops and pancetta was simply delicious.
Good price and friendly staff.
Have been before and will continue to do so.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Perth. Amazing from start to finish. Some italian places go overboard with 100s of options, this place keeps it simple with awesome entrees, share plates, mains and dessert bursting with flavour. It doesn't try and outdo itself.

Service, immaculate. Menu is pricey, but unlike other fine Italian dining places, the portion sizes here are big! You get what you pay for.

BEST ITALIAN IN PERTH. I totally love this place. Cannot get enough. Best food. Best atmosphere. Clean and precise. Staff are serious about their work. They love their job. They care about the patrons. I couldn't recommend it enough. Good luck deciding on the appetisers. They are ALL amazing. Enjoy !!!!!

Nothing Wrong Here. My wife kept talking about this great little spot, I finally got to go and over 3 experiences have not faulted the Pasta, Risotto or anything else I have tried, service has been good, wine great and not over the top expensive, considering Perth prices in general. If table not ready , slip up the road for a beer, leave your number and they give you a calll when they are ready, or arrange a time .
Fairly busy at times but that adds to the atmosphere, casual yet chic.
I have read some bad reports , might be how they approach people , be nice to them, and they are usually nice back, will keep going to Nolita and in fact will be back Saturday night.

Nice but for the salad. Have always enjoyed Nolita, although pricey it has the most beautiful pasta. However, a few weeks ago I took a girlfriend there for lunch and was disappointed on several fronts. The waitress copped a serious attitude, rolling her eyes when we asked for extra plates, and taking away cutlery that we required. Secondly, the duck salad is surely a lend - 4 or 5 thin, cold slices of relatively flavourless duck on a tiny portion of dressed leaves for $32???? Although the overall dish was pleasant, it should be clear that the duck is cold, and really this is an entree and should be priced as such. Likely I'll come back again but would far prefer a different waitperson!

Had a large group (16) for dinner last week and the food was fabulous. Our service person was attentive and professional. One of our favorite restaurants

Very tasty. The prosciutto starter is exquisite and the steak was cooked to perfection within my guidelines. To this day one of the best, authentic Italian menus in Perth.

Good experience. Recently dined here for the first time. We didn't have a booking and were lucky to get a table for 2 straight away. Ate 3 courses and we both enjoyed everything about our meals. I like menus that offer things that I wouldn't cook at home. Service was not so personal but the atmosphere had a warm buzz. Although there was a wait for tables we were not hurried out the door.
Will be back.

Fabulous. We love this place - clean simple food that is beautifully prepared. Coupled with attentive service, great atmosphere and a simple menu that delivers every time, this place rocks! Our new local favourite!

Good service, great food. Had a lovely meal, food was served promptly but we didn't feel rushed at all. Carpaccio was delicious! Will be back

Bitter taste. I take clients out for dinner about once a week, often more, and thought that I might make Nolita my regular. I was fantasising that the manager might come to love a regular customer and I would have a favourite table and the wine would be my 'usual'. Clients might come to love it too and life gets one notch more friendly and cosy all around. But perhaps I have been watching too much TV. To my great disappointment instead of this I scored what my client calls the best worst service story from Perth yet. I had made a booking for five and had to change to four and so we called that morning and told Nolita. When I arrived the setting was for five so I immediately told the waitress so that they could liberate the table, conscious that they may want to secure another diner. The manager came over and told me that we had cost him money by only arriving with four people, rather than five. His staff obviously had not passed the message on. He lectured me for some time and at the point where I thought I was sufficiently embarrassed in front of clients that I may have to leave, my client apologised and asked for a bottle of his most expensive wine to make up for it and said we would probably drink two. He was told 'that is not really the point'. Dinner was fine but we were clearly service pariahs and then before we had finished at 10.10pm they started stacking the chairs around us and the three other tables still finishing their meals. We all left feeling like dollar signs who failed to k'ching loudly enough. Hollow experience, will never return.

Diva. Last night we were invited to Nolita with family friends for a birthday dinner,
The food was glorious! Everything cooked to perfection, Just wonderful,
Our waitperson attentive to our needs,
I would highly recommend this restaurant for the quality of food,
Slightly cramped seating conditions but don't let that put you off trying,
Hopefully we shall return!

Shame. Disappointing evening at Nolita. Took some clients out for dinner and confirmed for them that Perth has poor service and is over-priced. Some of our order did not arrive, the staff were rude and then they began stacking chairs at 10.15pm when a third of the restaurant was full. We felt like irritating numbers in the money making mill.

Lovely but expensive. I’m a long time fan of La Lola in Hampden Rd (Nedlands) so I wanted to see what the guys had in store with Nolita in Bayview Terrace where Pronto used to be.

The décor is beautiful. It’s just right – simple, elegant and stylish without being over the top. The service is also just right.

The food is good and the pasta just melts in your mouth but the price left a sour taste in my mouth.

Two of us we had one Campari, a glass of red wine each and a bowl of pasta each and the bill was around $90. We’d ordered a salad but it never arrived and it wasn’t on the bill. I know that the rent is probably high in Claremont and wages in Perth are expensive blah blah blah but any Italian would faint over that bill!

Beautiful Flavours. Thoroughly enjoyed eating here last week.

Our table had aranchini and the squid as entrees. Aranchini came with a pesto sauce and were morish. Squid was perfect and came with a light aioli.

Mains we all had pasta. The crab meat and sugo, squid ink pasta with seafood, papadelle with braised duck and mushrooms. Nice amount of pasta, expensive at $30 a plate, but there was nothing left in the end.. Well worth it!

Dessert was an affogatto and the peach and ginger pudding. Both came with homemade vanilla bean gelato. Perfection!

Highly recommend eating here. Wait staff are very knowledgeable and attentive as well.

Salt. I went to Nolita last night with business colleagues from Japan. The food was excellent however the service was below standard and as an Australian I was embarrassed.
When one of my colleagues made a pronunciation error when ordering a drink he was mocked by the waiter.
The red wine arrived warm (it has been a hot day) and when I commented that the wine was too warm, the waiter responded “yes I know I have told them but they didn’t listen to me”
At the end of the evening one of my guest asked if the waiter could call a taxi, the response I heard was “do we order taxis” implying it wasn’t within their job description.
If we want to attractive tourist to Australia we need to improve the standards of our hospitality industry, this wouldn’t happen in Tokyo!

Wonderful experience. What a great evening we had at Nolita last night. The atmosphere was good, the service was superb and friendly, and the food was fantastic! We will definitely be going back again soon.

The food was great but spoilt by poor service and the snobby waiter. Unfortunately we won't be rushing back.

Took my wife there for her birthday. Have to agree with Peter Hugall (Mar 13). Nothing like the New York Nolita. The Polpette was luke warm and probably reheated as it was quite dry, bar the salsa, while the Arancini had spent a touch too long in the deep fry and lacked flavour. The Fish Special, Barramundi, was sweet and moist. The Bistecca, ordered medium, was dry and lacked flavour, while the parsley and chopped garlic topping tasted old. It was not the perfect accompaniment - no wonder they offer two types of mustard, very Italian.. The Frittes were the best part. The Manager was off hand and appeared to care less if we stayed or went when we voiced our concern about a group of very drunk very loud men whose conversation was blue to the max. The Head Waiter was personable and charming. while his off sider showed no interest in the job he held. When I went to pay the bill, I was not asked by the manager if we had enjoyed our meal, so I paid and we left. We both felt we paid about a third too much for a very disappointing, memorable for all the wrong reasons, night. 6 out of 10.

Went a couple of months ago with an overseas visitor. It was busy , a little disorganised and chaotic .Food was average, service good, very noisy , preferred La Lola Instead. Always give a second chance and glad we did ( me and my daughter) , I had the pasta dish with the duck , it was really good, in fact everything we ordered was great ( much improved) and what really made a big difference was the chap at the door ( who used to work at La Lola) who made us feel at home in a very personal and special way. I am glad I returned and look forward to go back again soon !

Fantastico. Food was delicious,, wait staff were great, attentive and friendly also very knowledable about the food (as they should be )
ill be back :)

Great food but the manager has no idea.turned up with 4 people but manager very reluctant to give us a table that could seat 5. Said we could have it if we had to. What a creep! No idea about client service.never experienced as bad a welcome worldwide. Would not go back if you paid me.

Went back two nights ago. Management has changed
But the food Brilliant. To be fair, the then owner rang me with regard to the above review & apologised & I have been back quite a few times since then and found the food & service brilliant.
The restaurant recently changed hands so we ENT back two nights ago to see how it was.
Service initially a bit slow off the mark but when we got our own waitress it took off.
Food just as good as before & possibly even better. This is with a change of chef as well. Squid to die for & the best crumbed pork cutlet you will find.
All in all first class.
Peter Hugall 10 sept 16.

Fine. Food was nice. Looks great inside. Service was efficient but a little bit rude at times. Went for Lunch so might try it again for dinner soon.

Great food and service was exceptional! The Beef cheek was cooked perfectly .

Great night out but...a little too expensive!. I tend to agree with Ange...the service was excellent, the food was very good but the price of the wines and the overall price of the experience was too expensive. It may be typical Perth these days but regardless, for a casual night out for dinner I won't be going here too often...unfortunately.

Great food. Went last night for dinner. Packed on a sat night. We had a table at the very back, almost in the kitchen but only booked 4 days before so maybe this was lucky last spot. Great service, attentive but casual style, could not fault it. Food was very good indeed, probably some of best Italian food sampled in Perth. We ate caprese salad with top quality mozzarella, carpaccio very good, risotto for main was great, as was the ravioli, plus another in our party ate crumbed pork which was also good. Divine tiramisu n pud for dessert. We had limoncello, coffees and great red and gorgeous white wine. 5 diners and the evening came out just over 100 bucks head, so yes tad pricey but quality of food superb. And we'll be back - soon!
Michelle
Very enjoyable Italian.... Thoroughly enjoyable meal in a calm environment with nice decor. Staff very attentive. Food - all 3 courses and drinks well prepared and tasty. Desserts well worth having!!! Go you will have a very satisfying evening. Well done, its been a while since I have enjoyed a meal this much. Thanks.

Deja Vu. Felt a sense of deja vu when I walked into Nolita for dinner...familiar staff and familiar decor...oh wait, that was La Lola. Not surprising of course given that it's the same owner. They have also kept the same cramped table design as in La Lola. Service was prompt and friendly. Foodwise, Nolita generally lives up to the hype. For entree, had the Polipo (grilled octopus, chorizo and potatoes) - the octopus was grilled perfectly, tender and flavoursome. Shame about the onions which overpowered the dish somewhat. Suggestion to use pickled red onions perhaps or to remove it altogether. For mains, had the spaghettini with crab and the cottoletta (pork). The spaghettini was not al dente unfortunately and the sauce although plentiful was lacking in a seafood flavour (need sea salt). Also had to ask for the parmesan which most restaurants will offer automatically. The other main was great - the pork cutlet on the bone was crumbed beautifully, a nice portion sitting on a bed of potato mash with truffle flavour. Dessert was a highlight - the tiramisu was not overly heavy with cream and the coffee flavour was definitely there. Suggest more coffee liquer perhaps. Price wise, some might balk as the mains are quite expensive, especially for pasta. Recommend it to be a special night venue.

One of the tastiest main meals I've had in ages (cotoletta), speedy food service however it took ages to bring out a beer? Still highly recommended.

Nolita, an area meaning “little Italy” in NYC Ambiance: The deco of Nolita is very modern to fit in with the fanciness and high-end vibe of Claremont. The restaurant itself is quite big – long and narrow with a bar in the middle. There were lots of tables for 2-4 diners. I can imagine the back of the restaurant been turned into a room for a standing function when the sun goes down. The furnishing of Nolita is very simple but classy enough for the area – wooden table tops, black chairs, and you’ll find a menu as your place mat. Tables and placemats are very simple but modern The Bar The Restaurant Food: The crispy skinned barramundi served with zucchini, tomato, onion, eggplant, capsicum, and basil pesto was cooked to perfection. The skin wasn’t overly done to the point it was burnt and it wasn’t under cooked and soggy. The serving size was just right for me for lunch. The choice of vegetables served underneath the fish fillet was the right balance of flavours and textures. Pesce – Cripsy skinned barramundi ($34.50) Dad’s squid ink mixed seafood linguine came out as a much smaller serving that you’ll find at the traditional Italian restaurants in say…F

I highly recommend Nolita. I have noticed that since my visit a few people have hated on it but I beg to differ. Do give it a whirl. Remember what I said about it being a pasta house and stick to the pastas. They really will not disappoint you.

Nolita is a new restaurant in the Claremont area. It boasts an amazing fitout, great service and a no reservation policy. We ended up being seated after 9.30 on Saturday night. Alongside a bottle of Coriole wine, our table had the bread and olives for starters and the ravioli, the duck parpadelle, the steak and the seafood linguine for mains. My ravioli was delicious however the burnt butter sauce flavour was overwhelmed by the addition of cubes of tomato in the sauce. The desserts were also great – we had the treacle cake and an amazing chocolate mousse served with a pistachio anglaise. It is on the slightly expensive side, but a good choice for an enjoyable dinner with a group of friends.
