Throwback Sunday, haven't been out for breakfast for a while, wanted to go somewhere new. I went on google and checked out this cafe called Doric St cafe in Scarborough.
When I got there, it's just a row of shops with different cafe and shops together and also a Chicken Treat! What a surprise.
It's a busy cafe on a Sunday morning. If you decide to have a conversation, I would suggest sitting outside as inside is very noisy.
We ordered:
EGGS BENEDICT- Poached eggs, ham and house-made zingy hollandaise on toasted ciabatta.
SMASHED AVOCADO - Creamy feta, cherry tomato and a poached egg
The breakfast dishes that we ordered are spot-on; it tasted fresh and delicious; just what we wanted.
Was nearby so thought I’d stop in for a coffee quickly. I also happened to spot a variety of sandwich cookies! I opted for the peanut butter one. It was ok but I would’ve liked more peanut butter taste to come through. Maybe a larger filling to cookie ratio. Either way I’d go back because the coffee is divine and the service matches it.
Been here a few times now. The food is fresh, well prepared and presented. Great juices. Accomodating atmosphere and good service.
Small menu, doesn’t change often. Simple breakfast or lunch...
This is my local, get consistently made coffee.
Food is also top notch, I go here at least once a week, never had any complaints
love the buns
Love love love this place! Chai here was lovely. Had the most delicious vegetarian bibimbap too! Staff were great and loved that it was tucked away in a quiet area of town. Will definitely return.
Solid and tasty meal at a decent price. Cafe itself is neatly sandwiched between shops on the Doric Street shopping strip, with an outdoor and indoor area. Ordered “prana chai”, served in a pot with a strainer and a glass with a yellow syrup ( I think it’s honey ) in its base. Pour out the tea and smell the medley of crushed spices caught in the strainer .. I thought the aniseed was the strongest smell. Unlike many places I’ve been to it wasn’t excessively sweet leaving you free to taste the flavours. Pancakes were served with a dollop of mascarpone, banana slice with a glazed surface, and dusted with powdered sugar and strawberries. It also came with syrup but was pretty sweet in its own...though the pancakes were a little dry so maybe I should have poured some on. Cracking the glaze on the banana and having a scoop with the mascarpone was a real novelty. Service was pretty standard for the area. Great meal!
Popped into Doric Street and purchased a take away iced coffee and a chicken and slaw wrap. The iced coffee was nice but the wrap was a bit mediocre. They also had a tempting array of sweets at the counter; however, on this occasion I didn’t purchase anything.
I order take away via sms most day and their coffees are always on point. Had breakfast at Doric few times, never disappoint me. Highly recommended.
I’m a north of the river girl. Born, raised and migrated only a few suburbs away from my parent’s place to Innaloo… north is in my blood. And I love exploring cafes and eateries near our home, enjoying the local delights and culinary surprises around each corner like Doric Street.
