Review Blacksmith Perth - Perth

Dexcellent Productions
First time here and was pleasantly surprised. From the front it is very deceiving and you think its going to be small inside but totally opposite. Huge inside and goes right back to an open air outdoor alfresco dining. Menu is reasonably small with not much under $20 food wise but substantial serves. Staff friendly, polite and helpful Toilets clean Have all types of milk.

We have been here many times for breakfast, brunch and coffee stop. Nice food and service. This place is kids friendly providing Indoor and outdoor sitting area and spacious nappy change table in the toilet. The outdoor space has a small sandpit and playroom with roof cover so the kids still can enjoy the space on a raining day.

One of my favourite cafe's in the Highgate/Mt Lawley area. The food and coffee's are amazing. The staff are really nice and the atmosphere is great. Their seasonal menu's really makes things exciting, gives you a reason to come back to try new dishes.

Went to this place with the family. We ordered Scrambled Eggs on Toast, Waffles and Squid Salad. All of it tasted pretty good

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit for Sunday lunch. Lots of space, fast friendly service and great food. The cold brew coffee is 100% recommended for a hot day, it came served in a chilled glass with water frozen inside on one side. Very refreshing and speaks well to the level of attention of something as simple as a cold coffee.

The owners really know how to provide something unique here. The restaurant is filled with gorgeous metal works and the theme of Blacksmiths is definitely not just a name. There is also a play area for the kids out on the back patio. The food was extraordinary and the drinks were amazing. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a great breakfast with the family.

Great service, location and menu options! Breakfast was delicious but their iced lattes could have been stronger.
Yang Liu
good environment and place for kids to play. Good is above the average and the regular coffee is a little bit smaller than other shops. But everything is good to try. The service is quick and polite
KG
Order the French Toast with seasonal fruits, and added a side of bacon and let’s just say there was a lot of seasonal fruits but only one sad piece of french toast, so was a little disappointed, for the price i paid other than that the iced coffee was good and the place had lovely decor and children’s play area.

Staff were really polite and helpful. Very attentive and quick with service.<br/>Food was decent. Ordered the spicy eggs. Was slightly disappointed that there was only one egg but chorizo was sizeable.<br/>A wild mixture of flavours with the dukkah and red onion jam. Slightly salty for my palate but most people would be fine with it.<br/>Coffee was really nice. Got my usual almond milk fw and coffee was smooth with the milk not burnt but still pipping hot.<br/>Love the decor of the place and can imagine it being a good spot for a few drinks after work.

Ordered the Blacksmith pan and it was very good. The coffee here is well done. On the strong side with i like. Service was quick and efficient with a lovely smile. Really liked the beans.

This place was amazing! We ordered the buttermilk pancakes and they were so fluffy and delicous and came with a bunch of equisit fruit and an incredible raspberry sauce. The only thing was my mums coffee was a bit cold but that was the only thing. Great for little kids because of playroom and sand pit. There was lots of seats and the staff were friendly. Overall, it was a great experience and a very good place to come with family and friends.

Usually I have enjoyed this place. It had been about 6 months since I had last been so we thought we would stop off for a bite to eat for lunch. But on my recent visit with my mum and son I have to say I was very disappointed. We sat outside and on my cushioned seat was sticky stuff I had to clean off. We then sat down and the tables were the same. It just was really unclean and gross. It was so hot and felt like a boiler room which in fairness is not really their fault. So we moved inside. We wanted a light meal so ordered something from the front window. I had the chicken bagel and my mum the toasted croissant. The croissant was sooo dry and my bagel was like cardboard not to mention the chicken was like rubber and was dripping in sauce. It was like they had been sitting there for a week. It was disgusting. The coffee was good and chips were nice and fresh but really chips are chips. To be honest the bagel and croissant were close to inedible. I was so shocked as usually I have had nice meals there in the past. I really feel like it’s gone downhill which is such a shame as it’s a great place especially for a parent/kid friendly cafe. I hope it takes this review not as an insult but constructive to improve the standards it once had with the food and cleanliness. Hope to return one day but it won’t be anytime soon unfortunately. :(

Came here for a brunch with the Bongs family and have absolutely fun time! The place is huge with plenty seatings indoor and outdoor, oh and what’s more, they have kids activities area and room behind! It’s complete with toys, sand pit, doll houses and all, so it’s so perfect for family getaway or gatherin while the kids can also having fun. <br/><br/>Coffee here is also fresh and good! Food- wise it’s decent. The breakfast menu offers all classic items you can think of! I ordered the burger - thick and juicy patty!
Lakmonsta
Always a hit. Child-friendly but not annoyingly so. Lovely variety of breakfast and lunch foods, great breads and delicious toppings. I love the smoothies here too, no gimmicks, just tasty.
Justine Sparks
Great service and delicious food. I have been to Blacksmith a handful of times I always enjoy the food and coffee. The service is friendly too.
Timothy Soon
An average place to get a breakfast/brunch. Decent coffee and okay prices. <br/><br/>Have ordered the breakfast board multiple times and the bacon is always burnt. I usually asked for the bacon to be recooked to make sure it is less burnt, but it always comes out just or even more burnt as the original. <br/><br/>

As the father of a young child. If you love poor service, this place is for you. Personally, I love to be treated badly so I’m gunna be a regular.
Caitlin Taneal Capes
Reasonably priced food, great coffee, beautifully presented food and the kindest most cheerful staff. Nothing to fault on this one, I hope they keep it up these guys definitely know hospitality!
Henning Scheibert
I was disappointed!!<br/>The location is nice, the stuff is friendly and i had the chance to order a large cappuccino ☕️ for a nice price.<br/><br/>I ordered the pancakes but they looked like finished products from the supermarket and tasted lax. <br/>the strawberries 🍓 where not good prepared...<br/><br/>I expect a little bit more from a place in Highgate on Beaufort Street.
Glendawg
My friend & i stumbled across this place & were blown away with the whole venue, loved the shop fit out/decor, i ordered the smashed avo, with fetta & pine nuts, the slice of lemon squeezed over top was perfect it really set the flavours along the sourdough, the additional spicy beans & hollandaise probably weren’t required but were just as delicious, plus 10 points for presentation! <br/>Will definitely be back! With a byo bottle of wine. Thank you.
Anja
I was really excited to try this place, especially because of the kids play area. Unfortunately, the service and the food really let us down. The bacon came out as black logs that were uneatable. When we mentioned it to the waitress, she tried to tell us that the bacon is just crispy. We won't be back
Tessntou9
Nice looking and a good atmosphere but food is subpar and on the pricey side considering it lacks flavour and is not anything special. I wouldn’t go again but it was worth having a try.
Lelano
All in all lovely food. We had a large table and everyone was happy with their food. Only thing I could suggest is with the delicious Bao Buns is to either serve four or make them bigger. As a main meal, it wasn’t filling. Delicious nevertheless. Also maybe need to look into more comfortable seating out the back section. Half the table was sitting on the stools that were falling into the drain. Not very comfy. All in all good experience and would return again.

Went here with friends for brunch today. It wasn't too busy and we were seated quickly. I had the salt and pepper squid with pearl cous cous - it was delightful! The coffee was great, too. Service was pleasant and not too 'in your face'. Will definitely be returning!
Storm
Fabulous to have an eatery that Fully Caters to/for Kiddies! Of all ages- (Outside) Thanks<br/>And an amazing FEED! It was Huge!<br/>Eggs are stunning and coffee is every mothers dream 'strength' <br/>Took a little while for service but, the kids are entertained 👌🏼

This place was recommended by my brother. Its a very cosy place, love the rustic decor. I ordered the Quinoa Salad, is was amazing..simple n fresh. Ordered my fave long macc, done perfectly.. do check them out.

Tried this place for the first time and I think we will be coming back for more. The menu choice wasn’t huge to begin with but I have to say that’s the best decision they’ve made! The portion is massive, we tried the blacksmith pan and we can barely finish it between the two of us! Coffees were excellently brewed, food is very tasty and we love their toasted bread, one of the yummiest we had so far, we couldn’t stop eating them no matter how full we were (we added a couple more serves of bread). The staffs were friendly and the place is perfect for afternoon chats and hang out with friends and can be kid friendly too!

Went here on a Saturday morning after passing up another place as we'd heard good things. Upon arriving it's a lovely space inside and out with plenty of atmosphere, however that was where the positives seemed to cease. When we went to order I asked for the Eggs Benedict with Bacon instead of the Salmon, however, was informed instead I could order the Eggs on Toast add bacon add hollandaise as it is a policy? Aside from this, once our food arrived the Hollandaise Sauce was cold (A new experience I'd hope not to encounter in the future anywhere else) and it seemed that it was just all butter. The coffee too wasn't much to write home about, my Cappuccino seeming more like a Latte. One of the very few underwhelming experiences I've had.
Lunarcry
This cafe has a nice ambiance to it. Food wise however was rather disappointing. The breakfast pan was a bit bland as the chorizos were virtually tasteless. We also tried the pancakes which were just ordinary. I wouldn’t rush to return.

Came here for my lunch on a Saturday, was shocked to see the menu had Aussie pub style food like fried calamari and beef burgers and chips, i was thinking being called blacksmith and located in highgate there was going to be more different hip cuisine, the coffee and chai latte we order came out in a tiny glass cup and were priced at $5 something you would expect to may for a mug,,,from there it just kept getting worse, forgot orders, mixed up the milk and when i asked waitress to help correct the orders, she was blaming the kitchen staff and walked away smiling to serve another table, then someone else had to step in a fix her mistakes,

Came here for lunch with a (hungover) friend. We didn't stay too long but what we had was amazing and I would come back. The fries were delish and I also ordered the chicken karaage bao buns which were pretty tasty. Great ambiance and decor, a nice addition to the Beaufort St strip.

Went here for a girls brunch catch up on a beautiful Sunday morning. Service was very prompt and food was delicious. We were both thrilled with our meals. It got busier as the morning went on.
Denise Ouro
We had a delicious breakfast (see photo of smashed avo with a poached egg). The place was chilled, relaxed but quirky with the blacksmith theme. I'll be definitely making another visit :)

One of my favorite places for coffee and breakfast! Almond milk coffee is done brilliantly : one of the best in perth. <br/>Goods always been great here.
Foodreina
We were initially served some chemically tasting unfiltered tap water, it would be better to serve filtered water. No one needs their first experience to be etched in their memory thanks to bad tasting town water. Breakfasts and juice were good but breakfasts were under seasoned. Nice selection on the menu. Delicious gluten free cakes. Catered well for gluten and dairy free. Fast service of food. Coffees were okay. Double ristretto was served in a piccolo glass which felt wrong, a demitasse cup would be better. Bit of an acidic aftertaste so I think they were a little burnt. Ambience good. Tables too high for ideal comfortable ergonomics. Were seated quickly and easily got a table during a weekend lunch. Interior design incredible, great job! <br/>Attention to detail is needed for this place to realise it's potential. The installation of a water filtration unit, a must...
Sheree
Great place to take kids with the outdoor area set up for the littlies. Food is great too we ordered a mix from the breakfast & lunch menu. All came out together and was really tasty. The burger does not disappoint!
Dan The Cake Man
Early Sunday brekkie at the Blacksmith. They have table service and the waitress gave me the menu and tap water. I ordered the Blacksmith pan of slow cooked beans, chorizo, ricotta, coddled eggs and toast, and a long Mac topped up. Coffee came out quickly and was hot and strong; perfect coffee. Food didn’t take too long either, and was quite a large serve. Beans were delicious with a nice balanced sauce, and the chorizo gave the dish a nice spicy note. A perfect wintery cold brekkie dish, which I really enjoyed. Love the vibe of the place which is industrial chick and they play some pretty cool music too. Will come back to try other menu options.
Antonio
Very nice place. Coffee is good. Service is good, food is good, I will come back definetly again. Next time I will bring some friend. Thank you
Truth Be Told Australia
We enjoyed a Saturday lunch here last week. Atmosphere and vibe at this Cool cafe is 10/10. Everywhere you look there is something cool made out of copper or leather. The staff were attentive, and we got a table straight away. Coffee was nice but could have been hotter. I had the salt and pepper squid with pearl cous cous. Squid was well seasoned, but the dish lacked flavours and was a little bit bland. She had the French toast with figs, lavender and marzipan, & loved it. Would like to try the breakfast here as I saw some dishes go past that looked so good.
Jes
Love the look and atmosphere from this place and the sandpit play area for the kids is a huge help. Great menu lots to select from and very prompt service from the kitchen.
B & M
Very nice decor, good place to catch up with friends , good option of the menu and very friendly service. Nice alfresco and they have kids play room.<br/>Ham and cheese croissants <br/>Spiced chicken $17<br/>Decent Flat white in a mug.

Rating this place on service, or lack thereof over anything else. Went on a Sunday morning when it wasn't particularly busy. Asked to sit outside numerous times and told there was no space. After sitting inside for 20 minutes and wrangling a toddler who only wanted to go and play outside, I went to see that there were three available tables outside. Asked again - only to be told we were not on the waitlist to sit outside. I don't know why we weren't since we had asked from when we first arrived. When I brought it up with the front of house woman as I left, she was only interested in arguing with me instead of resolving anything! Definitely won't be wasting my time going back.
Samantha
Great coffee, yummy food and generous sizes. I've been here many times and it doesn't disappoint. I came with my mum who is notoriously hard to please and no complaints from her! Booking a table on a Saturday morning is a plus and you can escape the kids playing outside with a table inside
Billylamb
We were able to book a table for a group on a Saturday morning which was a plus. They also offered split billing by putting our orders under different names - a huge plus! Coffee was good. Flavours of the generous serve of the blacksmith pan were rich and flavoursome. The eggs were overbaked though. Would have preferred runny yolks. The hummus and egg was tasty, the bread had a nice crunchy crust ( and wasn't too hard). Looked like a small serve but was actually quite filling. Would like to come again and try other things one the menu.
Verity De Fries
Decent coffee, great options for all day breakfast- very generous with the avocado on the smashed avo! Not bad on the pricing either. Really like that they have a sandpit and kids play room to keep little ones happy and occupied. Only downsides were the time that it took to get coffee and food out, and no separate billing.
Rachel Goodman
We had to wait 20 minutes for a table which we didn't mind at all. When we sat down the waitress told us to get our orders in quick as the kitchen was closing soon. We ordered and sat for 25 minutes with only water in front of us. The waitress walked past us numerous times. I then called her over to tell her we hadn't got our coffees yet. She told us we never ordered anything. I told her that she had taken our order. She then went off to the kitchen and when she came back she told us the kitchen was closed and the coffee machine was turned off. After I asked if we could come back the next day for a free or discounted breakfast she shrugged 'yes'<br/>We never went back.

AH-MAZING!!!!! Food was beyond! Place is cute and the service is friendly, happy and bubbly! No idea why it has such a low rating! One of the best in Perth!
Caris Potter
This rating is purely on service. We were so taken back by the front of house service on a Sunday we asked them to take our name off the wait list and we left. This cafe is advertised as a child friendly cafe with a play area. If you go on a Sunday be prepared for a cafe that cannot handle a rush. On the phone the day before we were told a small group could not make a booking so we just turned up at 8.40am. We added our name to the wait list and I asked if my 13 month old could play down the back while we wait on the advertised play area. We were told NO because we didn't have a booking and the back seats were reserved. I explained we didn't want to sit I would simply stand down there while she played. I was then explained that the area would get too "built up" so we need to stay up the front. Meanwhile I am restraining my toddler who is listening to the kids play down the back, unable to put her on there floor as Beaufort Street is 3m away and i didn't want her to run out the front door! After 15 minutes of waiting I was so turned off the place we ended up leaving without tasting any food. Just disgraceful service. We got in straight away next door at Rockefeller where we had great service.
Misty
Great place for the whole family, we brought our little lady who is a sticky beak and the staff were great with her. Lots of smiles and waves. Breakfast was on point and the coffee fab too, we'll be returning.
JP
Came here breakfast was a mate<br/>Coffee was superb. <br/>Had the eggs beans chorizo hot plate. Was fantastic. Very filling. <br/>Had a great experience. <br/>Will go back
JP
The service was atrocious! Walked in to an extremely unorganised environment, whereby the waitstaff lost control of the line. Waitress at the front counter was extremely rude, seemed to take offence that we wanted to wait for a table that they had to simply clear, instead of their initial suggestion of sharing the uncomfortable looking picnic table with others. Shouldn't have wasted our time, because when finally seated, three surrounding tables who were clearly seated after us were asked their order first. Decided to order coffees which came out burnt. This was the final straw, decided to leave instead of wasting any more time and money on the ridiculously overpriced meals. We are not difficult nor confrontational people, and would not ordinarily say bad things about others, but this vindictive and rude behavior compelled us to create this account. Staff should be ashamed!
More Than Nourishment
This is a nice place if you have kids with a undercover play area with a sandpit at the back. We went on a perfect day to sit and have a coffee while my friend's toddler got to play while we caught up over afternoon tea. The cakes available were standard.. choc cake, cheesecake, lemon tart, brownies and a couple of different slices. I opted for the lemon tart and a chai latte. The tart was average, nothing special. I did not rate the chai at all.. it tasted just like warm milk! My experience was very average and the only selling point was the play area. Nothing amazing.. not worth going unless you have kids.
Kate
I so want Blacksmith to be great because it's a super child-friendly space and very convenient for me. However, the food and service has consistently not been great. The pancakes are good (I'd order them again if I go back) but could really do with some cream or mascarpone or something on the side - they were a bit dry once the syrup ran out. Scrambled eggs were only fine and the green breakfast just didn't hit the spot - the spinach tasted a bit lackluster and the potato cake was an odd consistency and not that tasty. It was all fine, really, just not great and there are great breakfasts out there. Service is hit or miss - twice I've had to get water for the table myself, which isn't a big deal at all but just a nitpick, and there have been one or two bumps.
Mr Butterbeer
Good coffee - milk foamed perfectly. <br/>Green breakfast was delicious - especially the bread and potato chilli hash. Downside, service was relatively slow.
Lulu's Opinion
Argh. So long to get my food... in fact my friend had eaten her entire meal and we'd finished our coffees before they even realised they'd completely forgotten my meal. Bit disappointed that they didn't offer us free coffees to go with having to wait so long for my breakfast to be served. But oh well. I suppose it's an okay place if you wanna bring your kids. But... you know that means the place is pretty overrun by the pram brigade. So.. to sum up my experience, go there if you don't mind waiting ages. It's a good opportunity for your kids to run around and play!
Teh Omnivore
Great cafe with heaps of space out the back for kids - including a playroom and covered sandpit.  Menu includes several all day breakfast items,  which is always a winner with me.
The Chefs Wife
Want a side of hipster cool with your family friendly brunch? Blacksmith, a new spot on the Beaufort Street strip, is an eatery imported straight from my favourite part of Sydney – Surrey Hills. Inside, the bustling café is teaming with people getting their caffeine fix and enjoying some tasty bites from the menu, which caters for a lot of tastes.
Alli Procter
Service was extremely slow and the food was bland and overpriced. $5 for a chai latte that was the size of a shot glass. Would not go back. Nice building though.
Andrew Hick
Great start up offering. Well styled. No fake tolix barstools in sight!! Hurrah!! Super friendly staff and an owner going above and beyond with a smile. Great spread. Good coffee. Maybe a bit bulky on the takeaway packaging from a green perspective.. The service alone will get me back again. Impressed.
OnePointFive
Blacksmith is a undoubtedly a super kids friendly cafe for people with young kids. We went there on Sunday and it's packed. Luckily the place is quite big so we didn't wait long to get a table. So we ordered Blacksmith Pan, Avocado Smashed and Coffee Mocha. Avocado Smashed dish, although looked beautiful was disappointing. All elements they put were bland, hence I had to add crushed black pepper to make it better. However the serving was quite generous. Blacksmith Pan got a lot of chorizo pieces which I liked. Beans and eggs could be cooked a bit longer. Eggs were too raw to my liking. Mocha using Toby Estate beans was nice and super pretty. Efficient service by all staffs, commendable.
T-M@c
Came here to grab some takeaway coffees, the service was not prompt. we were sadly disappointed. The soy mocha was tasteless, watery.. didn't taste like coffee nor did it taste like chocolate. Will definitely not come back
The Go Go Mumma
I felt like this spot was built with families in mind... the restaurant has a massive under cover space (outback) with a huge sand pit and play room for the little ones... with extensive seating for both large and small groups. The menu was filled with so many yummy options (see our pictures) our orders were delivered timely even thought it was clearly busy... our food was presented beautifully and tasted just delicious. When paying for the bill I got to chat with the owner, who really took her time to have a conversation even though it was evident that they were under the pump. This just made me like Blacksmiths that bit more hence the 5 star rating. Genuine people with a real passion for food. The family and I will definitely be returning soon.
Sybarite
Love this place! Front of house is a glowing example of what cafe front of house should be. Very accommodating with seating us (politely enquired as to whether we could share a table, then moved us as soon as an empty table became available). Service was prompt in taking orders and delivering food. With our drinks I ordered a muffin to come out asap, and it did! Very good muffin (raspberry and white choc), almost impossible to choose between an incredibly vast selection of incredibly tasty and fresh looking cakes, slices and donuts. Love the decor, love the blacksmith theme which continues throughout. I'd say it's very child friendly with a kid's room at the back and lots of space (for pram access). Only a couple of tables out the front for the pooches though, however we went on a day when it was raining sideways so pooch missed out. Dining partner reported toilets were very funky, after we left though as I'd have checked them out for myself! Love a funky loo. As for the food, I went for the buttermilk pancakes with bacon. SO FLUFFY. In fact, so fluffy they were falling apart on the fork... Adequate amount of maple syrup so no dry pancakes (also the pancakes weren't so heavy as to need heaps) so anyone after just a drizzle would be better off asking for it on the side. Heaps of berries. No cream, ice cream or mascarpone though. Dining partner found the bread very difficult to cut (common toasted sourdough issue) so perhaps sharper knives would be good. I didn't go for a chai today however dining partner spoke very highly of the coffee (not a coffee connoisseur though!). Definitely plan to come back to try their savoury breakfast options.
Kim
Slow and rude service. The Asian lady (think she may have been the boss or supervisor?) serving me took my order down wrong, and then accused me that I had ordered it by using the order receipt as proof of what I had ordered. So I resorted to taking the meal because I was with friends and didn't want to cause a scene. I do not recommend this place and sadly disappointed.
KnifeandFork
Really nice place, great food and coffee plus awesome set up for families. Spacious and fresh inside and out. Could have done with extra toast on big breaky board. Will be back, highly recommend
Jess Grady
First impressions were that the staff might have been overwhelmed on a public holiday. Food was really nice but service once seated was extremely disappointing. To not be asked if we wanted another drink or check how the food was is mediocre. Couldn't even flag someone to come over to help us and for that I am not sure I'll go back.
Perthfoodieee
Beaufort Street is always a cafe heaven, with a bunch of lovely and famous cafe situated. BlackSmith, this beautiful farmhouse style cafe is now also participating in the cafe contest along the Beaufort street. It was packed even when I visited them during weekdays. With a large variety of options on the menu took me awhile for deciding (well, because I’m not decisive enough?) Services were a bit slow but I reckon this was reasonable in a packed place. Staffs were so friendly which I really appreciated.
Neil McLagan
The service was a little slow and the meals took a while to come out given how quiet they were, but once they did, it was awesome and well worth the wait. Great that the kids had somewhere to play and one of the first times we have been able to sit and relax and not stress about keeping them occupied.
Jojostar
Really love the interior and concept of this cafe. Came for lunch on a Saturday morning and waited more than 30 minutes for our meal. I approached a lady presumably the lady boss, to ask about our order as the cafe does not look busy, I was advised that due to a large order, the kitchen is rather congested. I was rather appalled that no one actually took the initiative to come and check on us or even simply informing us about the delay. Even when the food came, no one apologised on the delay at all so I was rather disappointed to be honest. Food wise, it was just okay. I like the meatballs the most out of the three meals we had (smashed Avo and green breakfast). Also, unlike other cafes, Blacksmith offers table service for ordering. Don't get me wrong, it was absolutely great but right after our brunch, my friends and I embarrassingly walked out on our lunch forgetting to get the bill. We only realised that 10 minutes after. We called and managed to make the payment but if I may suggest, while there is nothing wrong with table service, ordering and paying at the counter, personally I think, is a better option. I hope you don't come across another absent-minded customer like myself.
Ben Stokes
One of the best places for both service and food in Perth. We go for breakfast somewhere different every Saturday and this place rates in our top 3
PerthfectBreakfast
I liked the varied options available on the all day menu. Opted for the buttermilk banana pancakes with Berry compote and maple syrup and the chicken karaage bao. Pancakes were pillowy soft and fluffy. Taste wise they were pretty good. They really needed cream/mascarpone/ice cream to really make the dish complete. My friend got the chicken karaage bao and she loved them. What's not to love about fried chicken though?<br/><br/>Food came out quick and service was friendly but they did stuff up my take away coffee/doughnut order even when I clarified the order twice and pointed to the doughnuts I wanted after repeating my order.
Jacquie Guilbert
Nice idea to have a  place  where  the kids can play in the sandpit but we unfortunately were not too impressed. Our coffee order was forgotten and we waited over half an hour for a waitress to take our food order.  We then got the food but no cutlery.  The food however was delicious, the Bao and Burger tasted good and both were filling.  Decor was interesting and well done and although the service was not great, it was friendly.  And whilst I know kids make a mess when they eat, wiping it off the table onto the floors and leaving it there for the next guests was not appealing.  We were there towards the end of the day which may have been the reason for this.
Import
After we were seated we waited ten minutes for someone to return with menus or even some water. Eventually we stopped a passing waitress and asked for some menus. She promised to return with some. After another age it was apparent she had forgotten. We went up and collected some. When it became apparent no one was heading our way to take an order we got up and left.<br/><br/>Busy Sunday morning or not you have to do better. We went up the street and had a great breakfast with great prompt service. They were just as busy as Blacksmith.
Coffee_queen
I've been here 3 times in the last month and have really enjoyed it! Coffee is delicious (flat white) & I've had the avocado smash with a side of scrambled eggs twice which was perfect and the last time I had the veggie breakfast which was delicious! Great staff and awesome play area for kids.
Renae
I have been to Blacksmith a few times with my toddler as it has a great kids area out the back which is fully enclosed. The food and coffee is not too bad but the best thing is you can enjoy it while your kids are playing! It does start to get pretty busy by mid morning so if you are looking to get a table next to the kids area best to get there before 10.30am.
CiderCraze
Love the uniqueness of this place, branding is certainly done properly here with everything tailor-made for Blacksmith. <br/>Coffee and service were great but I find food a bit mediocre. Pork belly was a bit bland and cakes a bit dry.
Chantel Adnams
I visited the blacksmith with a friend today and was left shocked & disappointed. Although there is an area for the kids<br/> it seems there was way too many people out the back for the staff to cope with. <br/>We ordered 2 small coffees and they were the smallest coffees I've ever had or seen and still $4, a baby chino (most places don't charge for baby chinos) but here $2, 50c would have been fair for the size of it, a bit of froth and a marshmallow, 2 smiley face biscuits, a toasted sandwich and a juice. Everything came out separately and as we we were drinking our coffees got asked (by I think the manager) if we could leave if we weren't ordering anymore food as they needed the table for people who were going to be ordering more food than us?! <br/>We had only been there less than 1/2 and hour and there was ample seating inside. <br/>Thought it was rude, coffees were way overpriced for the size so wouldn't recommend or go back.
Stacey
Great food and coffee.<br/>Been half a dozen times and got to receive a greeting or smile from the staff, feel like I'm doing something wrong just by walking in. And takeaway coffees can take up to 20 minutes to receive. Apart from that, great place!
Gastrochemistry
Excellent coffee, and fantastic breakfast. Love the contemporary decor of white on metal on wood. Great service. Also very welcoming for parents and children, with a play area out in the back courtyard and plenty of space inside.

I'd like to publicly apologise to everyone that was at Blacksmith Perth yesterday for the feral behaviour of our kids playing out back. They were very loud and not playing very nicely and no amount of timeout seemed to curb the drama. <br/><br/>With that in mind a huge thumbs up to the staff who bore it and the mess kids make very patiently. Blacksmith is amazing for people with kids with a great play area out the back (under cover), including a sandpit (warning for those that don't want their kids to get dirty). And plenty of room for multiple prams to get around. For those wanting to escape the kids there is ample room inside to do that.<br/><br/>The staff are friendly and patient. They quickly served our table and we're happy to be tracked down with all of our requests.<br/><br/>The chai was full of flavour, the babycinos with the marshmallow inside, the raspberry Danish was crispy, flaky and custardy and the cheese toastie perfect. I'd love to come to try some other things in the menu.<br/><br/>Down the city end of Beaufort St so there is amply parking.<br/><br/>A must for every family and mother's group. And I think it'd be perfect for those without a screaming brood of kids.

Man. I don't often come out to Highgate but this was well worth the trip. Came here with my fellow partnerino in food appreciation, but where to begin...<br/><br/>On entry, this place has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a sandpit for the kids out the back. I love the feature of big long tables which appeared very popular with young trendy mums sipping their chai lattes and other families out for a last day of school holidays brunch. <br/><br/>The waitstaff are very attentive and appear to actually enjoy their jobs- I really loved their customer service and pleasant demeanours. Besides this, they came back after our meal had been served to offer further hot drinks, clearly understanding the need for multiple judgement free coffees on a Monday morning! <br/><br/>The food presentation was awesome and the menu offered plenty of choice at a reasonable price. Not to mention the great coffee and ability to add bacon to your pancakes, in fact- it's encouraged yay. Finally learnt what coddled eggs means as well... What a life lesson! <br/><br/>The serving sizes are incredibly filling- we got the blacksmith pan and the buttermilk pancakes 👌👌👌 <br/><br/>Loved the atmosphere, the food and the staff- would definitely come back and bring others. <br/>

Being the 'new kid on the Beaufort block, I've been 3 times in the last two weeks with different groups of friends. The coffee is very good & have really enjoyed the dishes I've had (salmon eggs Benedict, green breakfast & the Blacksmith burger). Major downfall is POS ... separate billing should be easy enough these days, but not even being able to pay part cash & part card is unacceptable! Needs to be changed ASAP!

Fantastic good food with a fun kids sandpit at the back. Wish there were more places like this in Perth... sigh. Pancakes were yummy, as were my chorizo beans

A brilliant addition to the Beaufort Street strip. Even on a hectic Saturday morning, the staff were friendly and the service efficient. The buttermilk pancakes were really delicious and the crispy bacon side - yum! The place is buzzing and it's noisy when it's full. But I'll happily  make this place a regular. I second the request for separate billing!
The Urban Bento
Came here for coffees and the karaage bao. Both were good as was the service from the staff. The bao had a lovely flavour and a decent hit of chilli. Wish there was separate billing though!

The staff here were very accomidating!!! Great place for all, kids area out the back and room for catchups. The coffee here is nice and bold!! The brownie and citrus loaf was also bloody tasty! I am coming back here for sure!

Terrible service, extremely long wait for coffee and food. I'd give it a 3 for decor but the space has lots of potential. Feels like a brunch option was butchered into what was meant to be a dinner and bar style venue. If only the service and food matched the location and venue.

Came here for breakfast. Service was great. Food came out really quickly and was delicious. Nice atmosphere. Definitely will be coming back.

I was so excited to visit this place but was dissappointed. Didn't enjoy the buttermilk pancakes at all. Managed a few mouthfuls only. Doughy and raw and barely any marscapone. Atleast the coffee was ok and fit out is cool.

Delicious food, we had the avo smash and eggs benedict, the classics with a twist. Perfect coffee, and I love that they have kombucha on the menu and milk alternatives such as almond and coconut. <br/>Exceptional service, a great addition to Beaufort St.

EDIT:<br/>We have been back several times for breakfast. Bery good and I upped my rating to 4.<br/>However, if it is very busy...be prepared to wait. The kitchen abd barrista do not appear to cope too well when the place is chockers...<br/>----------------<br/>Nice place, funky decor and great outdoor area at rear for mums and little ones.<br/>Really enjoyed the burger we had. Great taste and presentation. Menu looks interesting. Will try it again. Just a tad noisy for us with mums and prams and toddlers.<br/>Ill leave it to the owners to comment on the wisdom of serving table water in copper jugs..looks nice but there are health risks which I don't think fair to quote. .

Good coffee and very cool fit out. Staff were friendly and service was fast. Had the hazelnut brownie which was awesome! <br/>Menu looks good and keen to try it

Went to Blacksmith on Sunday morning. Once ordered, we waited nearly an hour for our food (I thought fair enough it is their 3rd day, but if they are taking this long the food must be delicious!). How wrong I was, I ordered the chilli eggs and I was served 1 piece of bread, a slop of melted mozzarella with a plain scrambled egg on top & a few chilli pieces. Coffee was ok. Worst breakfast I have had in Perth to date - will not be going back and have told everyone I know not to bother.

Quiet Friday morning visit. I ordered the blacksmith pan and only ate half of it, while it looks great in a photo, the beans being the main element here really lacked any flavour or spice so it was rather disappointing. The coffee I had was good.

Venue has a unique look and staff seemed friendly. Waited 30 minutes in the line to order food, given an order hadn't yet been placed there seemed no point then waiting however long for food. Set-up at counter was a debacle.

I love Beaufort street. It is a short drive for us and full of amazing places to eat. The only draw back is that they are usually older buildings so not pram friendly and too small to fit in even a toy box in the corner so I was very excited to see Blacksmith open up near the chemist at the Highgate end.
