Visited twice, was kind of empty but overall great experience and lovely staff especially the lady who served us :)) Ate upstairs and thank god she was nice enough to tell us to sit somewhere else as the two ladies we were gonna sit beside were a bit tipsy and loud.
- liked the layout of the restaurant and interior designing, 2 levels, cosy and spacious therefore great to eat with a big group of friends.
- good tunes
- staff had good customer service and attended when needed assistance
- nice overview of the city if you're eating upstairs
- food was really good, got the marinated set and miso soup with approx 75$ for 2 and second time I went approx $100 for 4 people which was good. Pricing of some foods can be a bit expensive but good to split pay if going with group of friends
- BYO yayayyay
- the only small con would be when entering, staff could be a bit more inviting and approachable as we were a bit confused with where to sit because I think upstairs is for bbq. But it's all good that was only because it was my first time.
Would come and visit back with friends when my bank account is not crying. :)
A lovely kbbq establishment with nice service. All the food is of good quality especially the black bean noodles. Highly recommended, although quite pricey $$$. Can pay by card & no split bill.
A wonderful dinner...so many kinds of gloriously delicious Korean fried chicken.. faves include the chilli and the snow coconut cheese.
Plus Kimchi pancake that was crispy and perfect; kimchi soup that was super flavoursome; and some other lil sides.
Definitely going back to this place.... super inexpensive too for the kfc.
Food was pretty average Korean fare but we came in an hour before closing and the service was still super friendly and tentative.
The bbq meats are great, enjoyed the marinate wagyu!
My favorite fried chicken place in Perth. try the garlic soy combo chicken, it comes with chips, salad, coleslaw and radish cubes
TIP: pay with cash to get a discount
We popped into this place as we were looking for somewhere to dine in Northbridge. We drive by this place frequently but tonight we decided to give it a go. I am glad we did. I really appreciate the space between the tables as it gives a comfortable dining experience. Most other Korean restaurants literally squeeze you into your table and for me, it is uncomfortable dining when the diner behind you can easily knock into you if he/she leans back just a bit.
We ordered the kimchi pancke, the beef bone broth and noodle soup, the snow cheese wings and a chajiang noodle which unfortunately was eaten all too quickly before I could remember to snap a pic. I must say that this place is one of the better Korean restaurants we have been in so far. The kimchi pancake had that slight sour taste and a hint of spiciness which was awesome. The beef bone broth was simply divine. It had that beefy smell which was not overpowering and just the right amount of saltiness. The noodles and the pieces of beef in the broth offer that melt in your mouth kind of feeling. Little princess said it was one of the best soups she had tasted. For me, it was the wings that won me over. I have eaten in couple of places offering Korean style fried chicken but this place creams it. The wings were done really well with the right amount of seasoning. Little princess liked the wings so much that she said why we have never thought of coming here before. This place has lots of dishes to offer and we will surely be back as regulars now.And as usual for me, the people who served us tonight were friendly and pleasant to deal with, always a plus.
This place is a very good late night hangout place, with the best Korean fried chicken. Every flavour is just as good. The hot flavour is VERY hot, just to warn you. The snowing cheese is an interesting new flavour, but I kinda like it. The ambience of this restaurant is very Korean, with barrels as stools, which you can open and put your coat inside. Great restaurant !
One of the best places in Perth for korean fried chicken! Ordered the combo fried chicken set, which came with the original, soy garlic and sweet chilli fried chicken. Also has radish, coleslaw and lettuce with some salad dressing. Out of all of the three flavours, my favourite is the soy garlic. The chips that came with it were awesome too, especially when you dip it in the soy garlic sauce! My other favourite dish is the spicy chicken with mozzarella cheese although this time I didn’t order it. Service is fast and attentive as well!
Had dinner with the colleagues on a Friday night, ordered 2 plate of fried chicken, a pancake, and a tuna kimchi hot pot. Everything was great except for the rice itself, it was undercooked and was cold. Other than that the food was great and service is quick and good.
This place exceeded all expectations!!!!! Great service by all the staff and very quick. Pricing was very reasonable. We got set 1 that included three different types of meats and a variety of accompaniments and then on top of that got rice and sweet chilli chicken. The food was more than enough to serve the three of us plus we hadn't even touched the chicken yet. Highly recommend this place, absolutely amazing Korean BBQ! SO GOOD 👌🏽
Finally went to try this place after it was recommended to me by my hairdresser. Wasn't disappointed- the black bean noodles has heaps of seafood and wasn't too sweet. The combo chicken platter was massive for the two of us! Piping hot and crispy! Yet tender inside. Love having the pickled radishes to off set the meats too!
Tap water came in a vodka bottle.
The set menus are great value and one of the nicest kimchi hot pots we have had! Sides are free and they give you a good amount of lettuce which is always good!
A Korean colleague recommended this place to eat pork backbone stew (normally has potatoes). This place was the perfect place to warm the winter night with a few friends. We ordered the stew as well as the kimchi pancake.
These two dishes were enough to feed four people! Generous servings, food was fantastic and definitely would order again.
Only tried their plate of original deep fried chicken and it was pretty good! Definitely do want to come back to try the actual barbecue meat and hot pots/soup dishes! Really happy they provide gloves too but I guess I can't give them a proper rating after only trying their fried chicken so I will have to come back and update this review when I've tried other items on their menu!
Been there for few times but I only tried their fried chicken (chilli, garlic soy, spicy cheese chicken). Didn't able to try their bbq meat since they are renovate 2nd floor (but its already fixed now, will try it soon)
+ positive
O neutral
- negative
+ : a nice place to hang out with friend, keep on playing latest korean music video.
+ : don't worry to get your hand messy, there's plastic glove for your hand to grab the fried chicken.
+ : good trading hour, they open until late night.
O : food are taste good, and they will provide side dishes (not sure whether can refill or not) but the price are kind of pricy for two.
- : the location are in bad location since it was hard to park car. So i usually do take away. So don't go during 6pm - 8pm where you hard to find a car park in Perth city.
Great sweet chilli korean chicken although the original one is too plain. Waiter was not so friendly though.. Service definitely can be improved and be more hospitable.
Ordered a chicken feast for tonite dinner. I dont know i like the chicken in SUN compared to other places! The flavours were just beautiful and chickens were very crispy too! Comes with salad and fries! Recommended!!
$64 for 5 grown men.
Left feeling full.
Original fried and sweet chilli, both good.
Alcohol selection includes Korean Beer, Soju and western Beer. Alcohol is well priced.
Decor is a bit odd, given that it is a Korean place - but the staff are friendly and willing to offer their opinions.
Sun BBQ was quite often overlooked by me in favour of many other restaurants that densely populate the Northbridge precinct. Little did I know I had been missing out on one of the best and the original Korean chicken places in Perth. I love everything about this place, to the creative casual interiors that was well thought out to the ingenuity of using old Vodka bottles for water. The food is amazing. The chicken is always nice and crispy, and also full of flavour. It does take a while to come out but I equate that to the kitchen making it fresh and to order. Once again, we decided to go for the spicy wings, and yes it was very very spicy so you may or may not enjoy it depending on your tolerance. I have been back plenty of times and will continue to!
I ordered a pork cutlet-called don katsu. The meat itself was crispy & deliciously cooked
, It came with a cup of creamy soup& salad & a spoonful of rice. It's disappointing that they only served literally a 3tea spoon-size of rice. Could have been more generous considering the $15 price.
Decent portion of fried chicken for $38. The original fried chicken was crispy, the soy and garlic was flavourful, meanwhile the sweet chili was awful. The side dish were pretty appetizing as well. I wouldn't mind to come back but definitely will not order for the sweet chilli chicken
Have come here a few times now and have to say sunbbq is my new favourite kbbq place :D marinated meat set (ask for the less fatty cut) is much tastier than tong86's flavourless frozen meat (comes out still hard at times!?), kimchi soup best i've had in perth so far, and fried garlic chicken is freshly made to order and has a slight edge over nene's (second fave fried chicken spot). I find the carbonara chicken pretty average despite the hype (gets soggy from sauce, too much spring onions), tteokbokki wayy too spicy, jajangmyun generous with seafood but also slightly too spicy.
Good service, food comes out promptly (but fried chicken takes a considerable amount of time if busy), the only other korean places i would go is took bae gi II for their kimchi pancake (always perfectly crispy!), jajangmyun & spicy pork, phil bean for variety (set menu is good value), and palsaik if I feel like pork belly. Used to like sinabro but only like the japchae now, which is really really tasty and cooked perfectly everytime but not enough to convince me to go there and just eat that!
Highly recommend for big groups! Such a seamless process for dinner with a group of 14 was quite a surprise! We were sent upstairs where they pushed a few tables together and almost instantly brought out sufficient side plates. Ordering was quick and the food and drinks came out super quick. It really was great service as there was no waiting for anything. For $30-$35 a person, you can be very well fed and have a beer to go with it.
Chicken is always nice here but I wish it was a little bit more affordable. Nice for a quick catch up though, make the beer and chicken less expensive and you'll have more customers for sure.
Celebrated my girl birthday there
Food are great, awesome chicken
The service are not bad yet not good too
Few of the waitress are helpful but others are literally no we cant do this no we dont have that no
Blah blah blah
BUT IT STILL ONE OF THE BEST KOREAN RESTAURANTS IN PERTH
Now this place, I love it! I get the marinated meat platter and I get the plum wine and we eat and eat and eat! and what is that pink dressing on the lettuce? I don't know, but it's delicious!!! Mmm yes, very good.
Perhaps one of my new favourite places for a pig out. My partner in crime and I had been craving fried chicken so she suggested Sun. Ordered the pork cutlet, chips & salad with cream soup dish $15, spicy cheesy fried chicken $36 and steamed egg $10. Overall we paid about $30 each and couldn't finish (took home a full container).
The dishes are so generous, the spicy cheesy chicken dish was probably meant for 3 or 4 people. It was a bit too spicy for my liking but I'd highly recommend it to anyone who loves a bit of burn. Chicken was perfection and they brought it out only a few minutes after we ordered. The pork cutlet was so tender and crispy, loved it!
Steamed egg was light and fluffy, staying hot throughout dinner. It brought back memories for both of us of our parents' cooking.
Service was prompt, more like super fast.
We were so impressed, we've already planned what to eat next time we visit!
We ordered fried chicken in 3 different sauce: original;sweet chilli and garlic soy.
Spicy chicken was my favourite among those three other dishes.
If you decided to come to this place bring your friends and family cause their portion is big...so you can try variety of food
The Korean fried chicken trend has taken Perth by storm. Well, who wouldn't love a crispy deep fried battered chicken smothered with tasty sauce? One fried chicken restaurant that has caught my eye was Sun BBQ. I first saw pictures of their fried chicken on Inexology's Instagram feed and it looked amazing! I couldn't wait for the opportunity to try it out for myself.
Ha! Prices increased with higher quality of menu. Been here multiple times but I never tried other dishes here other than the fried chicken - of cos as per Korean tradition you have to have the fried chicken with beers+soju. There are variety of fried chicken dishes to choose from - different sauce- plastic gloves will be provided so you can just use your finger liking good style to enjoy your chickens without worrying dirty your hands! (How thoughtful) !!
Sun BBQ has the best Korean fried chicken so far that you can find in Perth! So crispy outside and yummy on the inside! Sweet chilli and garlic soy ones are my favourite! Big love! Please keep up the good work sun BBQ!
Still my favourite Korean food in Perth! Always friendly, always incredibly tasty! I'm making all my friends go for my birthday this year! :)
I love this place. Simply one of the best Korean fried chicken in Perth. Big portion, reasonable price (combo $38 can feed 3-4 people), and yummy yummy yummy yum yum - what else do you want? Yes, you could argue but they don't open during lunch time (they're just being nice to KFC), but seriously, if you have not tried this, I recommend you to at least go for one. They have 2 floors *top one if you want to do some bbq-ing*. I always go for the bottom floor as my main goal is the chickenFor a new starter, I recommend the 3 types Combo Chicken (my personal favourite is the Sweet Chilli Chicken, followed by Garlic Soy and Deep fried aka KFC). Once you find your fave, you can always buy just that flavour. Combine that with either Carbonara or Honey Chicken (which is covered in cheese) both are delicious! Inexology (number 1 food blogger/zomato user in Perth prefers the Carbonara) I like the Honey Chicken more. Eat it with chips/wedges or rice if you just can't eat without rice like me,Oh, and also ask for boneless (with $3 extra) but it's definitely worth it.
Sun BBQ scored 4,5 as we mostly enjoyed our dining here... The half points missing is for their slow service sometimes (especially when they're busy). It's hard to grab the waitress attention, ended up faster to come up to the desk ask what we want or get water by ourselves >.< other than this, love every single bits... They supply plastic gloves so we can eat freely with our hands, 3ply tissue box on each of the table, so we won't ever run out. Sweet chilli chicken is the most recommended, it's juicy - crunchy - tasty - sweet - spicy! Wished they open on lunch time..
If you are a true foodie in Perth and you haven't tried this fantastic Korean Restaurant, then you are missing out. Last weekend was my second time, and it surely didn't fail to deliver. I would recommend their deep fried chicken combo (I had the sweet chilli and honey) which were perfectly fried - whilst crunchy and not greasy, then coated with sauce of your choice. If you're like me who doesn't like fuss, remember to order the boneless ones, and they also come with plastic glove to protect your delicate little fingers (no finger-licking-goodness though)... The pickled radish was juicy and well seasoned, and the salad was refreshing with some citrusy dressing, soothing my throat as it screamed for some veggie goodness.
After three dinners at Sun BBQ previously, our group of friends knew for sure that we would have another gathering there sometime in the future. If not for the sweet chili chicken then it would be for the honey chicken or the creamy carbonara chicken. Whatever the dish we were positive that it would be delectable as long as we went for the boneless option. I usually lost count of the number of daikon cubes and chickens that I demolished during dinner.
I really enjoyed this place with 2 other close friends. I have tried a couple of korean bbq places around perth, and this is one I would come back to. Korean BBQ is all about eating that casual meal with friends, taking your time with the cooking, and having fun.
Environment is nice and clean. Service is reasonable. Pricing is a bit more compared to Sinabro but nothing to go complain about. We ordered a meat combination for $55 and added beef tongue to supplement.
We also ordered the fried chicken and that was pretty awesome. In saying that, it's kinda hard stuffing up deep fried chicken.
Between 3 people the bill came to $128 and we were pretty stuffed.
The BBQ was great but when we tried to ask several waiters what the side dishes were none of them spoke English so we didn't understand what we were eating.
Went on friday night for the restaurant.. It was quite good. Might try the BBQ next time. The dishes are mostly chicken for the restaurant and we ordered combo chicken, seafood black bean noodle, carbonara chicken (too cheesy for me) and kimchi pancake. Food were nice, made you thirsty though. But they were quite pricey. All cost us about $24 per person.
This korean restaurant is of good value! The food was great! The service was excellent and the price is on point! I really like this place and compared to other korean restaurants, this place has got my top vote! Good Service, fair price, good ambience = value for money! Will definitely come back!
i have only been there oncebut the experience was quite a good onewe ordered 3 plates of different flavored chicken wingsdeliciously moist inside and extremely crispy on the outsidemouth watering
price is goodif you go
be sure to try the fried chicken wings with what ever sauce, they're all good
Love how late this place stays open - kimchi stew from the upstairs menu is a must! Carbonara chicken is a favourite - must try as well! Usually only one waitress working the floor though so it's hard to get served quickly, we have had on numerous occasions waitresses who don't speak English making the ordering process really difficult. Other than that - chicken wings are good, love the radish side dish!
Weird set up man........ Ok so this place has been getting a few bad reviews. I thought I might check it out to see how bad it really was. Strange set up of a restaurant to start with. It looks like it has a clothing store at the back, a BBQ area at the top and a deep fried chicken joint at the bottom. And all areas don’t seem to be connected in any way shape or form.
Ok so I came a total of two nights over a month. I tried the BBQ first.
BBQ
I ordered the beef wagyu set. I have to say despite the reviews I was surprised in a pleasant way. I eat heaps of wagyu and buy it from Torres Butcher on a regular basis. The best quality I have ever had was wagyu in Tokyo from a Black haired cow (well that’s what they called it) which was melt in your mouth. Anyway the wagyu beef at Sun BBQ was nice. Good amount of marbling and they provided three different cuts, well two but one particular cut was marinated in garlic. I found the quality of the meat very good. So now the side dishes.....I was reading a review below regarding this pink sauce. It was actually a strawberry sauce and I kinda dig it. In Hong Kong you get heaps of modern cuisines that use fruit based sauces. One that comes to mind is using a strawberry based sauce to replace the sweet and sour to be mixed with pork. And let’s not forget the good old plum sauce. IMHO I think it works. The other side dishes are pretty standard such as kim chee etc. One thing you must all try is cleaning the bbq surface with the onion they provide. Just rub the onion slowly on the pan surface and watch it clean away. So yeah....the onion is not for eating but you can if you like. Rating for food 3/5. The service was hit and misses and they didn’t understand what I was trying to say.
Deep fried chicken
Apparently (according to my partner) deep fried chicken and beer is the popular thing in South Korea at the moment. We order the 13 piece garlic chicken wings. Again ordering was a struggle. Now the chicken.....it was awesome. Crunchy and full of flavour. After five pieces I was getting sick of it as it was too sweet for me. I think they use a honey sauce as well. But I’m not a sweets person. Get your hands dirty eating wings? I think not. They provide a nice bowl for the bones and also disposable gloves which is thoughtful. They have other flavours so I will try something else next. Rating for food 4/5

Will I come back? Sure I like my chicken.
Dined here again. Still good.. I think the bbq here is good! I just cant get over the weird strawberry sauce salad dressing but I just eat it anyway.
Its BYO and has a large space to accommodate a range of big/small groups. What's not to like?
Wagyu meats and other selections are good too.
I ve been here many times food is getting better and service always impressed
thats why i came here again i will be back very soon!!
Best Korean BBQ in Perth.. Makes Arirang piss in their pants. Price, 9.5/10. Service, 10/10. Atmosphere-9.5/10. Quality of food-10/10. Serving sizes, 10/10. Condiments, 10/10.
This is one of the best reviews I have given in Perth. Sun BBQ knows how to make some damn tasty food.
After coming back from South Korea, I never lost my appetite for Korean BBQ. This is an outstanding example, easily the best Korean BBQ in Perth, and I've tried them all.
My only concern is (hope it never happens) that as they are new, they will jack up prices, lower serving sizes, and service will be run off their feet. Sun BBQ need to hold on to this magic for their dear life. FOR THEIR DEAR LIFE!
I look at places like KFC (tribute to the real chicken breast burgers that you struggled to fit in your mouth), and Airrang (horrible) and I wonder, 'how far have you fallen good sir. I can imagine that once you were great'..
Don't ever let this be you Sun BBQ. My new weekly eat out
Wonderful staff and owner, extremely friendly and attentive, tasty and good for a very late night or early morning? dinner. Bring friends, and lots of beer!
Lovely place and food, with very friendly staffs!. Love the interior and the atmosphere; staffs are very friendly and helpful.
The menu is not very extensive, however both type of BBQ meats that we ordered were really good! They serve mostly pork and premium beefs like wagyu for BBQ, pancakes, bulgogi and hotpot.
Our dinner is reasonably priced for the quality of food we get, and they serve you plenty of side dishes too. Would be back for more :)
Take Me To Foodie Heaven
+4.5
After church in the evening, we decided to head to Sun BBQ for dinner. It was a perfect night for Korean BBQ as it was cold. The reason why we decided to go to Sun BBQ for dinner was from a recommendation made by one of dad’s friend. With music videos playing the latest Kpop hits, it definitely has set the scene for a Korean BBQ dinner. What I found interesting about Sun BBQ was the “metal-can lookalike” sort of seats. As I was looking around for a place to put my handbag and jacket, I did not realise that you could open up the lid of the seat and store your bag or jacket in there so you don’t have to sit on anything or have anything on your lap while you eat. How innovative is that! You can put your belongings/jacket in here! The waitperson that we had was very friendly (and good looking!) and recommended some of the dishes for us to order. Not long after placing our orders, our Korean small dishes (Banchan) arrived to accompany our mains. When the small dishes arrive, you know that t
Overall very pleased with the restaurant, the bill came out to be cheaper than we thought around $23 each and we were all full, cheapest korean bbq I've had considering the meat served was Waygu. Service was a quite slow but I will forgive them as it was practically full house and there was a massive long table of at least 30 people.
