Review Market Grounds - Perth

Came for bottomless brunch yesterday afternoon. It was $70 pp for bottomless selected drinks and a three course meal. Drink selection was adequate. Entrees were shared between the table which consisted of marinated olives, beetroot dip, burrata, bread, and pork croquettes. The pork croquettes were absolutely delicious but everything else just mediocre - just antipasto really. The main was chicken breast with roasted potatoes and a bean sprout and green beans salad type thing on the side. Chicken was quite dry with little taste unless you drench it in the sauce, and the bean sprout green bean salad was extremely off-putting. Roast potatoes were tasty though. Dessert was an ice cream sandwich, personally did not like the taste at all. Overall it’s definitely not worth the money if you don’t drink, as the food is not really worth it. Would only come back again for a different type of menu selection. Paid the same price pp for bottomless brunch at Miss Chows in Claremont with bottomless dim dim and drinks with amazing service.

Long Lunch 10 July 2021 This was our first time trying the Long a lunch and weren’t disappointed. Firstly the staff were fantastic. Very warm and friendly and efficient. Secondly the food was delicious. A really good variety and plenty of it. I am shocked to admit that the Brussel Sprouts were incredible. Everything was nicely presented and did I mention- delicious. Thirdly the drinks. The cocktails were so nice and way to easy to drink. I’m going to making those for friends. The staff were more than happy to get refills quickly and we were able to taste everything on offer on the menu. Lastly the venue. Lovely. It’s a great spot with plenty of space and we had a booth for our group which was perfect. Great outside area for when the weather is more friendly. Plenty of paid parking a couple of minutes away. Tickets were $69 each which I think was very good value. The theme and menu changes each time and I will definitely be going back. Sorry my photos are terrible but you get the idea.

First time in market grounds! Pretty good atmosphere, bar staff and bouncers were all pleasant to talk to. Plenty of staff behind the bar's so not waiting long time to get served. The food was not bad, and the selection of drinks was okay. I'd recommend Market Grounds if you haven't been before, definitely worth a visit. Scott.

Went for bottomless baos for $35 that they were doing for Wednesdays in February. Was served by Phoenix who was super efficient, friendly and bubbly- explained the menu to is perfectly and made sure we were comfortable. Selection of pork, tofu karaage, Korean spicy chicken and Lobster baos. - Tofu karaage was quite good and well balanced with sauce. - Pork belly bao was our favourite. Sauce was on the sweeter side but the baos balanced it well. - Lobster was quite fishy but a little more in the lighter side. Not our favourite, but each to their own. - Korean spicy chicken was exactly as described, delicious but occasionally some batches were spicier than others. Overall awesome service, good food and nice vibes to hang out. Worth the bottomless baos. Apparently someone ate 16 baos in 2 hours! We ate 9 and were stuffed!

Admittedly I visited this place on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Atmosphere of that time was laid back and casual. Seemed a great place for groups of Females to dress up and head out for drinks with the Girls, before going out after to Northridge or Other Perth City 🌆 Night Life Venues.

Just wanted to give a 5 star review to our waiter CLAY. We recently visited for a Margarita sip session and Clay was our waiter. He was friendly and super efficient on the day, making sure our drinks and food were kept flowing. Thankyou Clay for the 5 star service!

10/10 for this venue! We recently hosted an engagement party and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Functions manager Teegan answered all of our questions quickly and was incredibly helpful in the function being a success. We also want to make a mention of the staff on the evening, the bar staff were amazing! Helpful, friendly and fast. Waitstaff were the same, made extra effort to bee line to the ‘bride-to-be’ to ensure she stayed fed 😊 Overall, really really appreciate everyone and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend market ground to anyone looking for a function venue!

Does anyone know where to find crispy chips? Not at market grounds. Very limited menu, ordered the prawns and it came with 5 prawns for $30 and I had to remove the head and clean them myself. Disappointing. Chips were soggy and badly cooked, we left the best part of the bowl behind. As a chef, if you don't know how to fry a chip you may need to review the basics. Would put 0 stars if I could.

Great institution. Big place with several seating areas. The booth seat was really comfortable. <br/>Fantastic croquette and pumpkin honey smoked almond dip were exceptional.<br/>Pub-style service

My sister booked a table for Mother’s And she told the waitress on the phone that she was celiac. When we arrived she asked both the waiter and waitress if the share plates were GF and if the bomb alaska was. When we got home my sister became very ill from one of the dishes due to it not being gluten free. Celiac and gluten free needs to be taken seriously as it can make those who are celiac very sick.

Hi all ,last night we ordered the new York lobster roll , apart from it being drowned in mayo the lobster meat was raw , after asking staff if it is meant to be that way, the only answer l got was it is cooked slowly at 65 degree, yes but is it meant to be raw just a blank stare from the chef and all the staff , every lobster roll l have every had around the world has fully cooked meat , please state on your menu.

Have been here for dinner before with no issue. But after the way I was treated tonight I could not write a worse review. Treated with hate and disgust. Will never be returning here and will tell all my friends and family never to come here.

Some places are tired before their time. Market Grounds has potential, but lacks the care to make it worthwhile. The Manager was unhelpful and clearly not leading the team. The Staff follow her lead and were pretty clueless. Food was ok. No beer prices on menu. Souvlaki not very Greek - more like Aussie lamb in a pita. Chicken parmigiana good, but it is at my local for $12 less.

Came here with a group of girlfriends after booking online via their website. We had their Pork belly, crackling, sweet potato, pecan, kale, apple butter; Fire roasted beetroot, berlotti beans, pickled quince, chèvre feta, pine nuts; Pappardelle pasta, slow cooked lamb, mushrooms, spinach, parmesan cream; and Crumbed potato and manchego croquettes, chipotle romesco. Absolutely loved the croquettes and the chipotle romesco. Definitely a favourite of ours. The Pappardelle pasta with slow cooked lamb was really tasty too. Just yum!

I have been here a few times now and the atmosphere is awesome. the first thing that got me was the great choice of music. Not over the top and everyone seemed to be enjoying it. The food is great with a good range over the menu. It is close to the train station and really close to the Arena, which makes it a great place for pre drinks/dinner. Market Grounds also has the option of the beer garden, inside and upstairs so there is plenty of space to chill and enjoy a few beverages with some mates.

The cocktails were pre-made & tasted disgusting! <br/>Aperol Spritz (had no bubbles) & Espresso Martini (tasted like it didn’t even have alcohol). Even more disgusting was the price of the pre-made drinks! Wont be going back. Nice venue but not when you’ve got The Shoe up the road to compare it with, cheaper drinks & made fresh.

Had a lovely afternoon eating good food. The menu has something for everyone and unfortunately I forgot to take photos. <br/>The pizza (both) were lovely, the crab pasta really tasty and the lamb wrap yummy. <br/>Great cocktail menu is good and they have a a lot of local beers. <br/>All round great venue.

Rate MG a 3.5 and up to a 4 when they are on point. Large with a great fit out, and perfect location straddling Perth and Northbridge, with very easy access to public transport and nightlife on either side, including the Arena and Yagan Square. Standard CBD prices for beer. I find most of the menu to offer quite good value, and having tried a few things, it is good pub grub! People need to remember, this is a pub, not a gourmet fine dining establishment. As far as pub food goes, it is well priced and tasty. Of course there are some teething issues, being such a LARGE new venue.

The place was very well designed. It was trendy but also sophisticated and had several areas to choose from. The food was actually really good! I ordered a burger and it was delicious. I went there twice, once for lunch and the other was for dinner. My sister had her birthday party there and no one complained about the food. We sat in the restaurant area.

I had a terrible experience. The fish and chips has bone. Bone. What........ fries were dry and bland.. i don’t know whether this is one off or accident or what but it’s really shocking for such a decent restaurant to serve such a terrible food. Look in all fairness, the place is fairly new and perhaps there’s hiccups here and there. This is my, and my only, experience - and for all you know, my terrible experience could be one off.

Ordered the aged dry steak and unfortunately it was way too salty. There’s fine line between a good seasoning or overly salty and they just put too much of salt on it so what I could eat was just salt salt salt and salt. It gave me a bad mouthfeel. The scallops were cooked beautiful n great puree though. And the Boom Alaska was actually quite a disappointment too. They seemed to be prepared too early in advance that the mascarpone spread on the plate was actually hard frozen which u can’t even spoon to eat easily. The sponge was dry and the flavours just quite bland combined. Not really think of returning anytime soon too.

The decor of the place is great and the music even better. However, I paid 11.80 for a pint (local beer) which I think it’s a bit too much. It’s very very crowded on a Friday and you can barely talk.

Good value, service could be a bit better.  We ordered two pizzas between three people and there was a rather long wait between entree and the mains.  Apart from delay it was good.
Quiet Please
Very loud on Fridays. Would be a much better pub if the music was turned down to normal rather than dangerous levels. Decibel X told me it was in excess of 100 dB. Noise made us leave before trying the food.

Dined at Market Grounds for the first time the other night with a group of girlfriends. The décor was lovely and the service was fine but I had an issue with the food. One of the girls had been before and said the food was nice but way too salty. We had the opposite this visit. Not even the fries were seasoned. We shared several dishes between the 4 of us but the prawns were so over cooked that they were mushy and the poo tubes were all left in which is just unacceptable. The lamb was cooked nicely but again was very under seasoned. The Bombe Alaska was tasty but it was rock solid. Yes I understand that this is a frozen desert but we couldn't even get a fork into it even after it had been sitting there for 5 minutes defrosting.

Lovely ambience and warm, welcoming service on a Thursday evening! We enjoyed 3 hot dishes and a serve of sashimi between 2 people and found it was more than enough to fill our bellies. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented!

Went to the restaurant on a Friday night with friends - loved the vibrant atmosphere.<br/><br/>The food was amazing. I would recommend the potatoes with sheet cheese (delish) and the bombe alaska.<br/><br/>The evening was a little stilted - service was slow despite the restaurant not being overly busy and the staff clearly just having a chat amongst themselves. <br/><br/>Happy to put this down to teething problems - it was worth it for the food.

Came here for dinner with a large group on Saturday night. We ordered a table for 7pm and arranged for our mates to get there at 5pm for drinks. Let me just say the service was absolutely incredible. It was my boyfriends birthday and I rang in advance to check it was okay to have helium balloons and to bring a cake. They were soo accomodating. The cake was bought out after dinner and they liaised with me throughout the night. We asked that the food be all put on same bill and that people order drinks separate. Everything was just wonderful. Service, food... even the dance floor after dinner. I would highly recommend for a function or just drinks. Def worth a visit.
