Friendly service and felt like being home in SG when listening to the staff speaking 4 languages at the same time.
Durian strudel is nice but slightly too much cream vs. durian ratio (however, I do say this about almost every durian dessert). Pastry is flaky and buttery.
The durian strudels is a must try!! Delicious and relatively "fresh" for what you can find in Perth. Prices are a little steep but no harm indulging once awhile.
❗️❗️ HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ❗️❗️
let me start by saying that I am a DURIAN LOVER!
so when I heard that this place does durian strudels and durian puffs I got in my car straight away and drove here!
The durian strudel was the most heavenly dessert I’d tasted in such a long time and it’s a top three for me!
The layers of durian and sweet delicious pastry cant compare to any other strudel I have had. The durian also taste super fresh and creamy and amazing! I give it a 11/10
For the Durian puffs ! They are a generous size and one bite can make you fall in love and brought back many childhood memories for me! 10/10
The prices are also super good for what you’re getting
Overall this place is amazing and I have and will continue to come back here for their durian desserts as they’re absolutely perfect!!
Keep it up guys! super amazing stuff happening here ❤️
Great little cafe serving Singapore style brekky of Kaya toast and soft boiled eggs for $10 along with a great selection of strudels and pastries. We tried it at the weekend and the food was very good, the order took a little while to arrive and so it was good that we were not in a rush. My partner also tried the durian strudel which was very tasty. We will be back here again soon.
Very nice strudels, especially the durian-flavoured ones. The cafe was nice and cozy. Would come again and I need to fill my quota for 140 characters for this to be a valid review
Didn’t realise this place has a long history and was previously established in Singapore.
The strudels are made fresh to order and the durian flavour definitely packed a punch! The matcha red bean was also delicious.
Only feedback is the strudel would have been more amazing with a few tiers.
Super friendly staff, and honestly the flakiest most deliciously sweet but not too sweet durian strudel I've ever had. I come here regularly and got all my family into it and the high quality has remained the same since they first opened. I'm very pleased
We got one apple strudel and loved it. We have been apple strudel lovers for years and when we heard about it we were so excited to try.
We had the strudel twice over 2 days. 1st day was good. But second day was much better as the cream had thoroughly penetrated the pastry. Could have had abit more apples in it. But it's nice to know that this is definitely an original recipe and not a copy of another famous strudel in Perth.
We continue to support freddie strudels.
We had takeaway so did not have time to really enjoy the cute and minimalist cafe.
came here for one thing only, which is the durian strudel, and it really did not disappoint. the texture of the pastry was flakey and crisp, while the filling had a strong durian taste without being overpowering.
Also tried the mango and peach strudel. The mango tasted fresh, and it is clear that high quality, fresh mangoes were used.
Will definitely be keen to try the other flavours!!
Really fluffy and crispy Apple Strudel. It was fantastic especially after lunch paired up with some coffee. Also tried the custard eclair and it did not disappoint. Lots of custard filling!
Nice interior and yummy durian strudel, freshly made with D24 durians! I’ll definitely go back and try other flavours 😍 this place has no high chair so BYO child seat 👌🏻
The pastry for the strudels is flakey, buttery and crisp and they come in a variety of flavours. I don't think they have their filling to ratio quite right and I think they need more cream and a tad more custard. My fave flavours are durian, strawberry and banana caramel. Definitely worth a try and they come in single serve size too so you don't need to commit to a full log.
I have to say I like their strudels more since they’re not too sweet like others. The durian strudels are delicious, I would have it again and again! Must try! Other favourite of ours are the green tea and strawberry.
I just discovered this amazing place when walking to the Vietnamese restaurant next door.
It was a pretty spacious and cozy cafe, with the DURIAN PUFFS sign on the window. I was immediately drawn to it and went in to buy 5 durian puffs and 2 fruit strudles to take away 😁
The pastry was brilliant, flaky and not too sweet. The custard and the fruits were added generously and balanced the taste really well.
I came back 3 days later just to enjoy a blueberry mango strudle on my own (don't want my family to finish everything in the blink of an eye tbh). Matcha latte was so so, but friendly customer service made up for that.
Strongly recommend to all foodie in the area.
By far the BEST durian strudel I've tasted! However, if you're not a durian fan, there's lots of other options to choose from - plenty of flavours :) You won't regret as their pastry is just the right texture - smooth, flaky, crispy, tasty ... you name it! Don't let the quietness of the place put you off as most people do takeaway strudel logs rather than dine in.
So yummy! Would love to see a little more fruit for the price you pay :) Great for special occasions and can order ahead so it's ready for pick up
The strudels are brilliant! Pastry is light, flaky and crisp, while the fillings are fresh and delicious. Love the Durian Strudel the most; so glad it's not just some artificial flavouring. The other strudels taste great too; not too sweet and very enjoyable. Custard puffs and horns are good, but definitely not their specialty. Will stick to just strudels and more strudels next time.
Simple cafe, but warm and cozy. Service is friendly too. A nice place to just chill and relax with some indulgent sweet treats.
Clean, airy, modern and very pleasant. Steel cutlery😊 and all round good experience. We had strudel, coffee and tea. Strudel is very well made with a great pastry. Made on premises. Well worth coming back to. Service attentive and friendly. Very well presented.
Can easily collect a few desserts for home entertainment!
I don't love durian at all but I definitely rate Freddie's strudel. Also tried the apple strudel (delicious). Would love to try their other flavours.
The coffee here is brilliant and hot. They really only do one desert - strudel - but man o man it is the top shelf. I have been here every week now for 6 weeks. Take some home or one of the eclairs. Sensational.
We bought the apple and durian strudels from here few months ago. The pastry itself was light and flaky. For me, the durian strudel was amazing, best one I tried so far in town. I absolutely love the fact that the durian strudel was loaded with durian fillings, totally satisfied my durian cravings.
When someone tells me to buy dessert, I automatically think of Corica. I have always bought my apple strudels from there and thought that there was nothing that came close to comparison. But boy was I wrong. Introducing the even more amazing Freddie Strudels! It’s the finer details that can make all the difference and this place executes it well. The strudels are made fresh to order which means that the puff pastry is super duper crispy.
More Than Nourishment
+4.5
I discovered this place a few months ago after recommendations from my cousin. I tried the single serve apple, apple & blueberry and durian strudels. The single serves definitely add up in price and don't have the double layer of pastry like the full size one. I do however like that you can get the single serve to try out the flavours without over committing to a whole slab. Out of the three, I loved the durian one the best (whole chunks of durian) and the apple blueberry one the least. Compared to Corica, Freddie's pastry is much more crispy (even the next day) but their custard isn't as tasty and it's slightly smaller. Overall I prefer Freddie's. I also like that they are open longer hours and much easier to get to for parking. It's my go to place now when I'm craving strudels.
Tucked in between some very average cafes at the western strip of Brisbane Street is this little gem. In a time when Perth seems saturated with overpriced hipster cafes, this place is quite unassuming and is all about good value and quality. I investigated it with a friend and her mother who were visiting from out of town. Even though they were very indecisive and asked far too many questions of a simple pastry order, both staff were very patient, helpful and polite. I had to admit I was getting frustrated and embarrassed with all of the excessive scrutiny of a $6 pastry but was very impressed with how it was handled. There were some great options which sounded just delicious! Peach and strawberry, matcha eclairs (bingo, I got this for only $4), the infamous durian pastry - they even have pick up available in the CBD which I didn't know.
We all got different things and all were delicious, flaky and great value. The piping of the small strudels were a bit slapped together but given each one was piped to order to retain the freshness and given how much time they wasted with my friend's excessive questions they were a bit rushed to meet orders so presentation is totally justifiable - it wasn't bad by any means. The small strudels were actually quite large too. I was very happy with it all and would definitely recommend a try.
Novel foodie places are starting to pop up throughout Perth, and finding a good strudel has not been so easy until now. Tucked at the back of Northbridge on Brisbane Street is this bright and airy café that specializes in the great strudel. They have some outdoor tables out the front too, for those wanting to catch some wintery sun. I decided to dine indoors after ordering the counter the last apple strudel and a long Mac topped up. They have a variety of different strudels including for the more adventures, the Durian strudel as well as a selection of éclairs and puffs filled with custard and cream, or durian. My coffee was excellent with strong bold flavour. My strudel was perfection, crispy flaky pastry with fresh
Sweet Patisserie store serving fruit strudels including the standard Apple strudel, but possibly more famous for its Durian Strudel and other Singapore inspired snacks and flavours like Chwee Kueh, Kaya and soft boiled eggs.
The Strudel is very good, one of the best I've tried in Perth, with flakey and crispy pastry layering the filling and if you're a fan of durian you're in for a treat. If not, they have plenty of other flavours to choose from.
They also serve coffee and tea, and cater for indoor and some al fresco dining as well as takeaway.
Very delicious strudels and puffs, as well as cozy place to hang out with friends. The Chwee Kueh and Roti Kaya breakfast are delicious. If you're looking for a spot to have breakfast, a quick lunch, or an afternoon tea, try out Freddie Strudels.
Uncle Freddie and his family are really friendly as well. I really like coming to this place 😄
Cozy shop with friendly staff. Best place for strudels whenever I visit Perth! Mango and durian are my fave. The puff pastries are so crunchy and fresh and light. Comes in convenient takeaway boxes as well. The large size has 3 layers of puff pastries while the smaller one has 2 layers. Travels well 👌, managed to fly it interstate.. Best eaten immediately while it's still fresh..
A must visit especially if you're from out of town. We were recommended to give Freddie Strudels a shot so we did. The pastry is flaky and compliments the fillings very well. It's not uncommon for people to purchase these and take them on a plane trip to gift to friends and family!
Our absolute favourite strudels in Perth! I love that they can custom-make strudels with your favourite fruits (you can even choose a combination of fruits), and it's always so fresh! My personal favourite is the mango lychee strudel.
We also enjoy the traditional Singaporean breakfast that they offer - it's a great deal! Really can't rave about this hidden gem enough.
Come and experience their world renown strudel in a variety of flavours including seasonal fruits.
Favourite of the Singapore Airlines Cabin Crew and Pilots.
Consume them locally or take them home to the family
Wonderful strudel, open on Sundays which was really handy and able to pick two seasonal fruits for the mixed fruit strudel log, lovely texture and taste. Will definitely be back!
