Up the western end of James Street, across from Russell Square, Sura offers an extensive range of Korean influenced dishes. A relatively bland but large and open dining room is spruced up with a touch of cartoon wall art, while the service is via a buzzer on the table that produces a pretty prompt response and the food comes out quickly after orders are taken.
We ordered 6 dishes for 5 person: hot pot, black bean sauce noodle, BBQ meat x2, seafood pancake and raw beef. Food was great and to top it off, help yourself to the unlimited refill kimchi and beans sprout station.
I love that the sides are unlimited so i can get as much kimchi as i want. We went there at around 8pm and the place was still busy. Good thing the place is big so we didnt have to wait for a table. The food is a bit pricey since the serving is small so we didn’t order much (we broke 😂). We got beef brisket, pork belly (yumm), sweet & sour pork and rice (of course!). The food was okay and i loved the samgyeopsal! For a group of five people these actually filled us up to our surprise.. I’ll have to come back and try different items on their menu (they have a lot!). I just wish they have a set meal or something for a big group so it’s easier to decide what to get..
We ordered 5 dishes which was far more than enough for the 5 of us. Food was delicious, especially the spicy chicken with cheese. Loved the natural lighting of the place, as well as the beautiful art hanging around the place. Would love to come back again
Service is what the -1 star was
But the food? SO LIT
This is coming from a Korean and I am glad to have found this place
The jja jang myun was so legit tasted like Korea, the gop chang stir fry was also very good although not much gop chang in it.
The cheese fried chicken was soooo good
Chap sal tang suyuk was probably the most average
Would I come back? YES, but perhaps on a weekday as the Friday was crazy.
Food took ages and service was poor as they were understaffed.
When one of the dishes came it spilled all over my phone and on my friends lap and the girl did NOT apologize.
Food is fab but please train staff more

As authentic as it gets in Perth. Quality and Quantity with friendly staff to top it off. Will come here on a regular to try every single item on the menu!
Not quite sure why the low ratings for this place. The food here was delicious, portions were large and service was prompt. I particularly liked the texture of the black bean noodles as they were really chewy! The bibimbap was delicious too. The bbq meat is good but not outstanding. Great casual place for dinner
Went there for dinner on a Friday might. We had both bbq and main dishes. Main dishes were way better than the bbq. You can get better bbq elsewhere for that price. Definitely recommend the black bean sauce noodle. It was soooo good! Fried chicken was boneless and not too dry on the inside. Didn’t find out that we could help ourselves to the side dishes until the end of our meal. Wish the waitress told us at the beginning, maybe she just assumed it wasn’t our first time to the restaurant. But overall it was really good and even my little daughter said it was a great dinner!
I've always loved this restaurant. Size of the meals and tastes are quite good against expectations from ordinary Korean restaurant. I cannot make really good comment about BBQ as I didn't find it quite tasteful but especially , I would recommend fried chicken with cheese and sizzling marinated beef . You wouldn't regret to give a shot for this restaurant. I can assure that you will with the full and happy belly. Of course with affordable prices.
This restaurant is always packed and I'm not surprised why. Their food is always good and consistent and their service is always friendly and fast. The sweet chilli fried chicken is so delicious and it's boneless too! This place is open till late and it's great to have.
I really love the chapssal tangsuyuk / glutinous rice sweet & sour pork (crispy and chewy) and jjajangmyeon / black bean noodle (strong jjajang flavour). The price is justified for the portion size. I'd come back again for those dishes. The venue isn't real flash, so don't expect anything fancy. Service is not slow, so that's a plus. Haven't had BBQ here, but would be curious to have it.
Actually really enjoyed this place. The kimchi could have been a bit more spicy but if you don't like spicy kimchi then this is perfect for you! Loved the quantity of the meat and the unlimited sides!
Nice place to have dinner friendly staff and the food comes out pretty quick. We ordered 3 dishes all where nice the spicy chicken and cheese topping was my favorite it was hot but really good.
We came here for dinner before a fringe show last night. Started with a Korean beer which was pretty good. We shared 3 mains which was way too much food! We had the chilli squid, fried tofu in sweet chilli sauce, and the fried rice and black bean. The tofu was very tasty, albeit a little too sweet. The squid was enjoyable, nice and spicy! The fried rice and black bean was a bit odd, I wasn't a fan but it wasn't terrible. It just felt strange to eat the sauce with rice and no substance (like meat or veggies). The service at Sura was very fast and the staff were friendly. However, the venue is like a food hall. Apart from the quirky art about the place, I thought the venue was a bit tacky.
Authentic Korean dishes. One of my favourite Korean restaurants in Perth. Apart from the BBQ, definitely need to try their various black bean noodle dishes and the spicy seafood noodle soup. Generous portion size at very reasonable price - my friend and I ordered the seafood black bean noodle for $17 which was enough to feed us full. Also tried the spicy pork but the meat was over cooked and dry. The highlight was the free top-up of sides (at the free service counter) throughout the night.
Large servings and delicious food. Went here with a group and we had some BBQ and some Alicante. All of the food was brought out v quickly and very yummy. Make sure u book as place gets busy on Friday night. Will definitely return. Highly recommend
Wow...we only tried their 2 dishes... And I can tell you they can cooked
Their spare ribs black bean noodle is delicious. Love their sauce. I tried 3-4 others restaurant is not as good as this place.
The only negative thing about this is lack of meat on the noodle, if they are a bit more generous with their spare ribs meat (not the fat) it would be a huge ++😁
The next thing is their sweet sour pork. Love the coating around the pork, soft and crispy and their lemon sauce..mmm superlicius..
(If only they could change 1/2 portion of raw onion on the dish to radish, it would be perfect combo)
Definitely recommend this place.
You should get there early because by 6.30pm their place is pretty full.
This is my new favourite korean eatery. A close friend treated dinner here.
I've noted some previous negative reviews regarding bad service here. I certainly don't agree. We went on a week night and the waitresses there were pleasant.
The dishes we ordered were great, but was quite spicy. That was partly our fault for not specifying previously.
The bill was very reasonable considering we over ordered. Ill definitely be returning.
Sura is one of my favourite places for my Korean fix! Whether it's a casual dinner with mates or late night munchies at 11pm, I can rely on Sura to be there. Two of my must order dishes are the jjajangmyun and the Korean style sweet and sour pork combination. I also order the cheesy chicken and a round of Korean beer to top everything off.
It's interior has a simplistic and retro styled setting which exudes a relaxed atmosphere. The place is bustling with all sorts of customers during peak hour, and is reminiscent of a restaurant down a small street in Korea. The staff are all accommodating and serve you with a smile, mind you there's a buzzer on the table to call for them.
I definitely have been back many times, and will be back many more in the future!
Good Korean restaurant! Cheese buldak is great, jjajangmyun is yummy too. Price is good and good atmosphere to hang out. Very flavourful dishes... We are a bunch of satisfied customers!
Delicious homestyle Korean cuisine. The noodles are amazing! One of the best I have had in Perth. The soups are just as tasty and just enough spice. Not too hot and not too mild. The pancakes taste homestyle. Reminds me of the days I was in Korea. Love it.
Went there once and the food was surprisingly great
The seafood broth was thick and din feel much msg. It's just so seafood.
We will be back.
never really been disappointed with the food here, they've got a great menu of barbeque and a la carte dishes. service however is a little hit and miss but its no big deal really. love the continuous kpop playing although at times can be a little distracting.
Finally a decent korean!!
I have yet to try the bbq but after ordering the ala carte, I can tell that this is a decent place. I ordered the blackbean noodles and it was superb. The noodle was cook nicely and the sauce was the right balance.
Oh they also provide unlimited selfserve kimchi and side dish!! Got nothin to complaint about :)
Hungry at 10pm? Need supper? This is the place we can go to fill our stomach!! They have only main dishes on the menu, no snacks or small dishes... which I was looking for when I was there. Therefore, a spicy stew with meaty pork bones with veggies was ordered instead to share, which turned out to be a good option too. Great to have such place that trades till late!!!
Food was not bad. The best is it opened till late so you do not have to worry about starving from staying up late over the weekends. Some of the dishes can be very spicy be mindful - otherwise the food was good.
Food is good, and they have a wide selection for bbq as well as ala carte. The chajjangmyeon is really good! Service is hit and miss, but generally they're really nice. Noice!
Ordered the spicy chicken with chips and cheese ($26), and spicy pork ($15 comes with rice). All served on hot plates. Food was so tasty, servings were generous. Free cold tea. Side pickles were bottomless (self service). I'll be back for sure.
WOW. Get number 29, it's pork cooked in their house chilli sauce. Incredible, so tender and tasty. Left feeling completely full and satisfied for only $15. Putting up with K-pop was worth it!
Goood food. It`s so good !
The Jahangir myung (black bean noodles) was great! After watching coffee prince drama I've been craving for those. Even though they don't do free home delivery like in Korea, it looked the same and tasted exactly what I had in Korea! Definitely trying the jjam bbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) next time.
