Food was awesome. Had the sizzling spicy chicken w corn cheese (portion was pretty small but this was so good that we ordered again), kimchi pancake (crispy & flavourful), sizzling squid, samgyetang & to-share jajangmyeon (had the spicy one the 1st time & ordered the non-spicy one the 2nd time). Price was cheaper than normal but portion was pretty small too. It was a pity side dishes were extra charged. Other than that, this restaurant can possibly be better than lots of Korean restaurants I have tried in Melb. 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Can’t beat the prices. Amazing kimchi pancake and love the 4 side dishes. Ok black bean noodles. Will always come back! Roughly $10-15 every time I go ❤️🙏🏼

Went looking for a Korean eat out and cane across this one. Ordered kimchi pancakes with a sizzling chicken with cheese platter along with some ginger tea on the side. Enjoyed a meal in a quiet corner, thanks for the friendly staff and good service as well!
Great food, affordable price, but I noticed serving size is smaller compared to my last visit, still one of my favorite korean place in Perth
My 2nd time ever at this place and it was well worth it, my friends and i Came here today and we were loving it so much. The waiters were amazing and so was the food, the girl waitress was cute though.
cheap and delicious, feels like home cooking, only negative is side dishes cost extra :( please consider giving side dishes complementary
Love this place! Come here quite regularly, all their dishes are very consistent in flavours spicy pork soup and the beef bone soup are really good here. Strong flavours in the broth. High recommended!
First time visiting, ordered the hot and spicy sizzling pork which came with rice, $7.00. It was heavenly! I couldn't stop raving about it to my boyfriend later on. The spiciness caused me a wet nose but my mouth wasn't on fire. There's a range of drinks for $1 too. Total was $8, good portions, and I was extremely pleased with the taste. Service was friendly, wait for food was no more than 10 mins. Definitely coming back here with family
Much better then its counterpart on hay street. Prices are good for portions you get. Noodles nice and chewy. Broth flavorful. Ribs tender. Will definitely be returning to try more of whats on offer!
Delicious food at great prices! Staff are usually nice and polite. Would highly recommend to anyone. They said this review needs to be 140 characters long so I'm now typing to take up space lol
Cool little place, quick service and interesting menu. Got the cheesy chicken, some noodles and bbq beef. Beef was delicious and onions added a perfect mix of flavour to it. Cheese dish was very spicy and smokey, didn't enjoy it that much and the noodles were drowning in sauce. In general it's a cheap alternative to some of the more expensive places around barrack street but I wouldn't say it's very special.
We ordered the seafood caserole. Awesome set up. BBQ in table. Was intriguing and appetising as the young lady set everything up with side dishes and BBQ setting up.
Had the soju (an alcoholic bevy made from rice, wheat and potatoes) delicious ! A bit like sake but served cold. Highly recommend.
Out come the main onto the BBQ and it finished cooking in front of us. As the veqggies are raw at first. It cooked very quickly. Beautiful, unique flavours. Possibly a little oily for what I'm used to.
More than we could eat. Chilli builds slowly and surely until whole face felt like a furnace.
A good type of burn though.
Service is prompt and thorough, only problem is waitstaff a little cold. Not sure if a cultural thing or language barrier. I sure do appreciate getting to experience their unique foodie culture though. Loved it.
I went here with my boyfriend for lunch and we ordered the spicy thin beef and kimchi soup. Also had two grape fruit sodas and the total was $24.00. Very tasty and cheap!
Can't believe they reduced all their price. It's so economical.. $7 for sizzling meat with rice, unbelievably good bargain! The sizzling meat (pork and the spare ribs) were good and tasty. Black bean noodle was of good consistency and chewiness. The pancake was a bit too salty and the buldak chicken lacks sweetness and spiciness. But overall it's a go to place for quick and tasty lunch / dinner.
A simple and modest restaurant with absolutely incredible food. For the quality of food served at this place I would expect to pay top dollar, however the prices are fantastic and the food is even better. Authentic Korean cuisine, amazing flavours and fresh ingredients. They provide all the staple Korean dishes. One entree, two rice cake dishes, two mains with extra rice and four drinks for the 2 of us came to $36 and for the quality food I had I would've paid double that. Would highly recommend and will absolutely be going back again soon. My new fav restaurant!
A well priced restaurant for customers who want to have good food without breaking the bank. The interior is modest and provides what you need without any frills or thrills. We arrived before dinner time on a weekday and it was fairly easy to find a seat. Once ordered, the food came out promptly without hassle.
So impressed with the quality of the dishes we were served at this restaurant. The food was cooked fresh and exceeded our expectations, it was super flavourful and the Demi sodas were really refreshing and went perfectly with the food. The service we received was great and staff were very friendly which made for an all round enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend!
A must try. I come here several times a week during lunch break because it's so cheap and delicious.
Atmosphere 6/10: Since it's quite a small restaurant, the tables are pretty much touching each other, so it can get a little awkward when you're sitting next to someone you don't know. Other than that, the decor is pretty plain but nice. It's not a bad place to sit, but not great either.
Service 7.5/10: The waitresses are friendly and polite, and are quick with their service. Although they usually only have 1-2 people serving on the floor, I've never had to find myself to wait long to order or receive my food. They're speedy at clearing the tables, too. I find this place great to come for my hour lunch break for a sit down because it's so quick.
Food 7/10: Took Bae Kee 2 has a great variety of food with decent (if a bit on the small size) portions. I'm especially enamored with all the different types of deokkbokki, as when I usually go to Korean restaurants they usually only have the gochujang deokkbokki (spicy rice cake). I'm slowly working my way through the menu and am determined to try everything once. I've not been disappointed with a dish yet. There's a good variety of side dishes. Two of my favourites are the Mushroom soup and the chijeu buldak (fire chicken with cheese). The one thing that makes me happiest is when this restaurant says something is spicy, it actually is! I do have one bone to pick, and that's with the rice. It's very hit and miss - sometimes its nice, other times it's hard and really... not that great at all.
Price 10/10: This place is SO cheap I'm always surprised at how little the bill comes to. Notably, their Aloe drink ranges between $1-2. You can get a full meal anywhere between $7 and $15. Their servings of deokkbokki are only $5 and I am alive.
Good quality, affordable price, and wide range of options. If you are craving for a spicy Korean food, this is the right place. I ordered the spicy squid and it was good and spicy enough. The portion was big enough for $9 and on top of that, it also comes with rice. The best thing is you can order 4 additional side dishes for 3 dollar and I would really recommend the side dishes.
The larger of the two Took Bae Kee restaurants, their menu is slightly different. I only come here to order the Non Spicy Seafood Noodles - thick, starchy sauce with alot of garlic and sesame oil but very flavoursome. I like the hand made noodles but would like more of the seafood or vege at least. My colleagues will always order the ribs. The standard of this dish varies from time to time - sometimes more bone than meat, sometimes not enough of the sauce and too dry - but when is done right, it's good and the portion is quite decent.
I think I go to this restaurant at least twice a week for my lunch. The first reason the food and the service are good. The second reason, it only costs me $7-$10 for lunch including rice.
Came here for dinner last night after going through the list of Korean restaurants in the city. It's not a really big place, simple and cosy enough though the tables are quite near each other. The waitress who served us was friendly. I chose this restaurant as unlike the other popular ones, this one has got smaller serving sizes with reasonable prices. We ordered both a pork and beef bulgogi, a steam egg dish, topokki, the fried dumplings, a kimchi pancake, a herbal chicken porridge and 4 serves of rice. As mentioned, the serving size is smaller which meant that we were not struggling to finish the dishes and it also allowed us to order more dishes to try. We didn't order anything that we had to cook ourselves like their casserole dishes. That is for another visit. We really enjoyed our dinner here. Every dish was tasty except the steam egg which could do with a bit more flavour. A bit bland for our taste. We paid about $60 for what we ordered. I am glad I chose this place. Reasonable prices, good service, great tasting food and we didn't walk out smelling like a wok as there's no sizzling cooking at the tables only soup dishes. We will definitely be back.
Decent flavor at a very very cheap price! For only $7 you get variety of bulgogi meat and with rice too! Yes, there are more vegies than the actual meat, and yes, the size is big but not THAT big (well, my colleague Tracey said it was enough for average female) - but still what more do you expect from a $7 complete meat and rice meal? Tried the bulgogi beef and pork, both tasted decent.
They sell $5 topokki which is really tempting. They taste good but the rice-cake itself can sometimes be a bit hard to bite.
Staffs are friendly but they should have more staff during busy lunch hour as the waiting time can be quite long - especially if you have a tight lunch break. Come earlier to avoid the busy period. Place is also not that big so it can get full quiet easily.
5/5 By far the best Korean restaurant I've been to full stop! As a vegetarian I always struggle to find Korean places that have more than 1 menu item that's vegetarian, took Bae Kee has a stack to choose from and it's absolutely delicious! The price is fantastic the staff are wonderful and I highly recommend this place!
Loved this Korean place, it's cheap, service is fast and there's a lot to choose from, it's also gluten free and vegan friendly! Dishes are all under or around $10, there's sizzling dishes, soups, noodles and share plates. We tried some soup dishes and the sizzling ones, can wait to go back for more!
Lunch service.
Ambiance was good, had a contemporary with a Korean influence feel about the place. Naturally, the tables we fitted with in-built gas burners for those Korean BBQ cravings.
Service was expected, greeted with a smile with menus in hand. Whenever you're ready or you need some attention, a staff will attend to you at a push of a button. Finished plates were cleared immediately. However, there was no checking in on our satisfaction.
Food was excellent. Ordered a seasonal dish - Spicy cheese chicken (pic enclosed), mushroom glass noodles (japchae) and kimchi pork fried dumplings (pic enclosed). The seasonal dish was really spicy (which is to my liking) so if you can't take spicy, you better tell them to tune it down. They did not ask how spicy I like it to be though. Japchae was excellent too, tasty but not salty. Kimchii dumplings had a good filling and tasty however the pastry was soggy. Personally, I would think fried dumplings wouldn't be soggy.
Would we come back again? Yes.
Best kimchi pancake in perth - the only one i've tried so far that is actually nice and crisp! Other dishes i like - sizzling spicy pork & jajangmyun.
The savoury Korean pancakes are so good, I come here at least once a fortnight after work. Friendly staff and very fast food.
Laminex tables, vinyl covered chairs that are seldom vacant at lunch time. Fast food that's tasty in a small, spartan space. Choose from a book of photos with accurate descriptions. Quick service and staff who accommodate requests.
I'd recommend against the pancakes unless you're used to the Korean variety. An acquired taste.
Korean BBQ hotplate at affordable prices. This food is the best. Korean food is actually quite healthy if done well and I will be going back!
Came in for lunch, was pretty busy and most were Korean customers which suggested that the food must be authentic and good. Ordered the black bean noodle and friend ordered soup with rice. Both were $10 which meant the portions were ok but not overly generous. Only bad thing was that the dishes weren't served around the same time. My friend's soup took a long time to arrive after I had almost finished my noodles.
Best Korean place to go to when ever I'm looking for a cheap and good Korean food. Staffs are very friendly and efficient. We ordered the hot & spicy tofu soup, sizzling non-spicy beef and a sizzling non-spicy soy squid. Food came promptly and there were delicious. All of these only cost us $23!! The side dish such as kimchi are not included but there only cost $1 each. Simply affordable and definitely will come back again and again.
Took Bae Kee II is the best!! Very affordable, and great food. It offers Korean BBQ (hotplate) and amazing vegetarian options.
I recommend the tteokbokki (I had to ask for non-spicy, it was still a little bit too hot) and vegetarian dumplings. We ordered some kimchi pancakes but they did not arrive for about 45 minutes. We had to ask a server what had happened, then we received them shortly.
Great experience and great food.

Omg this place is so great?! They have a so many dishes to choose from, and they also offer many vegetarian options! I actually can't believe how affordable this place is, I went for lunch with my friend the other day, we ordered a dumpling soup, kimchi pancake, Korean side dishes and spicy sizzling beef with rice and a green tea, and the bill only came out to $27! I didn't have any of the beef but everything else was delicious! Really friendly service and a great place to get a casual lunch right in the city.
This is my one of the go to places for Korean and also a cheap wholesome dinner. To me it's more comfortable. Big soups and BBQ are offered here but mainly hotplates. And the price. What's good is the price and it's such good value for a place to offer honest good non greasy food at a cheap price.
So I never liked Korean till today :) As a group we dined and had a series of good dishes. The kimchi pancake was delicious as well as the beef ribs. Great value for money.
This is my one of the go to places for Korean and also a cheap wholesome dinner. This is the newer version of Took Bae Kee, and to me it's more comfortable. Big soups and BBQ are offered here but mainly hotplates. And the price. What's good is the price and it's such good value for a place to offer honest good non greasy food at a cheap price.
A decent variety is on offer from chicken to seafood.
My personal favourite is the kimchi jigae. A few sliced of pork inside a hot bowl of kimchi and broth, hits the spot on a cold rainy night. That with a nice serving of rice and some banchan all comes to $10. Bargain.
To share, bring out the big guns and get the gamjatang. That get ya sweat on. The beef ad vegetable hotpot is awesome too and the broth you just have to finish to the last drop. If you can tolerate the lava like temperatures it's served at!
The waitresses are nice and attentive. Always friendly and cute. I love coming here every fortnight.
Their spicy pork and beef bulgogi is really good value and taste good too. Unlike other Korean restaurant, the side dishes (kimchi) are not included with your meal, and they are $1 each. Been to this place a couple of times and looks like their food is quite inconsistent.
Can you believe that 7 dishes only for 63 bucks, for 5 persons! it's full! totally full & worth to try in Perth. not very crowded place & friendly staffs. definitely will come back for sure!
Always loved the jjangmyun here! The best and only one in Perth I guess~ Sam gye tang (ginseng chicken soup) was simply splendid! Pork ribs and kimchi pancake are nevertheless superb! Will definitely come back. Highly recommended as well!! ❤️
Was craving for Korean, decided to go TBK2 after so long. It's lunch time but only got few tables occupied, weird. Had Mixed Vegs Pancake, Black Bean Homemade Noodles, Seasonal Pork Back Bone Mild Spicy Stew & Side Dishes. Pancake was nice but not crispy enough (like Poppo's), Black Bean Noodles was so so, Hubby likes mine better. Stew was different, more sour than spicy for me, but worth a try. Unlike other Korean restaurants, we had to pay $3 for 4 side dishes (or $1/ea). Very unusual, but at least the portions were alright. Total cost was $32 for all, not bad. Will go back again one day.
There is no meat left on the riblets. Cleaned up by the lads and I ate a few myself. To quote a famous line "everything is awesome!"
Only Aussies in the place, many Asian faces. Quiet Thursday night but service and food as good as Saturday lunch.
Enjoyed to have lunch here, paired is better. The spicy pork hot platr was so nice. I like the variety of side dishes and can feel its freshness. For winter try to order any soup, and add the hot spicy paste to your liking
Food price is cheaper than Took Baek Kee I and their portion for sizzling BBQ is good. We usually ordered a couple of different sizzling BBQ dish to share between us, the flowery plum wine (Maehwasu), as well as some entrees (steam kimchee dumpling and spicy toppokki). Took Baek Kee II has more space than the first one. So it will be a good place for family and groups to dine in. Took Baek Kee I offers free side dish and we can ask for more whenever we want to. That's not the case with Took Baek Kee II.
Recommended dish: steam kimchee dumplings. Their kimchee pancake was not crisp enough and their jajangmyeon was a bit bland. Will still go back to this place for their sizzling BBQ range.
Yum x 100. I have never had a bad meal here. The shredded seaweed they serve with the other dishes after you're seated is so addictive! I wish you could buy it by the bag.
Really great. Love this place! We used some Scoopon vouchers for some visits, and have been there about 3 times now. Staff are great. friendly and efficient. Pricing is good. Pork and chicken are the best in our opinion.
Very happy to go back again
CBD gem. Awesome value and amazing food. BBQ sweet and spicy pok ribs at $9 is to die for. Try the korean cider (non-alcoholic).
This place is truly a hidden wonder. Came from Melbourne with a friend expecting Perth to fall behind on the culinary stakes, but this little place gave us a real delight. Sweet potato noodles are a must try!
Table for 1 on Sunday evening, food was better than what I have expected, it actually tasted like foods served in Korea, wait staff, mixture of Korean staff and non-Korean asian English speakers, one of the non-Korean wait staff took my order, staff had great understanding of the food and the flavour, and knew how to explain them. Plating of the food was little bit on the disappointing side, but I guess it didn't really matter as this place isn't a fine dining place. this place was the first korean food joint that I actually had to tip due to their excellent service. And excellemt food. I will be coming back
Great everytime!. Regular here.
Always have the Spicy Kim Chi Fish Egg Soup.
Never fails to disappoint!
Good food, a bit hit and miss. Solid choice for our stay in Perth. Food was well price (for Korean) and was served quickly and with good service, notifying us of the month's specials (literal specials, i.e. savings).
Regardless of that strange sales promotion, the food was generally. The entree of chicken with sweet sauce (Korean soy paste?) was great value. The handmade noodles with mushroom were a letdown though; a very one-dimensional taste with a gluggy sauce.
There was a great variety on the menu and from what we ate, the food overall is very palatable. You can do much worse in Perth's CBD.
Not a bad korean restaurant. I have been there twice so far.
Entree: The dumplings are ok, you need to dip it into the sauce for more flavours - Kimchi Pork (ok). You can choose steam or fried dumplings.
Food: Tried chicken, beef and spicy pork belly (spicy) - ok. Sides like kimchi are tasty!
Service: There is 1 waitress who is very friendly. The cashier can do with some smile. The waitresses do the cooking which takes out some fun of self-cooking
Atmosphere: Casual restaurant - not too bad. Pretty packed.
Price: For entree & BBQ around $25 pp - Comparable to other korean restaurants
Overall: Nice location & not overly expensive.
First time eating Korean. Nice food. A bit pricey. $2 for steamed rice when u pay $38 for BBQ meat. Should come with it. Loved loved the little bean shoots and chili cabbage as entree.
BEST DISH: Soy beef sweet potato noodles! Only starters but only $8!!!

Its cute :). This little place is awesome
especially when they have their winter lunch deals etc
price in general isnt that bad and protion sizes are decent too
service is good
although it can crowd up very quickly at night
there are nights when I have to resort to other places (sadly) simply because there were no empty tables
Will defs be back !!
Went here off the back of a groupon offer & was impressed with dumplings - mains served. The pork was probably my fav dish of the evening with the dumplings a little hit & miss as lacking a little in flavour. Overall a great evening & I'd certainly return.
Om nom nom nom Korean foods. By far one of the best (and cheapest) Korean restaurants in Perth. My bf and I always order the spicy beef, spicy ribs, kimchi pancake and one noodle dish to share. Heaps of food for two under $50! We have also tried the bbq pork and it was great, just not a very big portion though for two people.
I love the buzzer on the tables to gain the waiters attention - no more hand waving or awkward looks around the room.
There is free tap water too.
I just had the best pork casserole in my life, ever!
Food was great.... Price well fair enough .... From the outside it looks peaceful enough but as I sat and observe, try to imagine a war zone between America and Vietnam ... It's soooooo busy and chaotic but yet the food was well prepared and didn't wait that long with generous portion. Really a great place to dine in plus Pretty Korean girls what's not to like haha...
Hmm, a bit sceptical after suffering Tung 88. So ok, wife got a deals voucher and thought to give Korean food 1 more time.
So glad I did.
The voucher got us a BBQ for 2 and a dumpling dish. Service was prompt. And it was full service. As in the server came and place the meat on the hot plate, came back later to turn the meat and then one more time to cut the meat and vegetables up. Excellent!
We had the BBQ marinated beef which was yummy. Dumplings were ok but have never been a big fan of dumplings to begin with.
Hmm, as we were finishing off, noticed the crowd was starting to come in. She who must be obeyed said that if we had dinner later, with all the crowd, service will take longer.
All in all, I have changed my view on Korean food. Will try again if possible.
Korean experience. Food's good most of the time. The value's slightly high but this is the better option than paying heaps for bbq buffet.
Quick & friendly place. I came here for lunch today with work friends and the service was fast, friendly and the food was really good.
The dumplings are yummy. We had the fried beef/vegetable dumplings and steamed sweet potato/noodle dumplings.
Lunch was $12 pp for a meat & rice dish.
This cafe was a full house too...so it must be good. I'll be back to try it again.
One of my favourites.. Excellent little place gets a bit packed at peak times but the food is of a high standard, service is excellent and the premises is spotlessly clean, it's also exceptionally good value for a restaurant in the CBD.
Yummy korean craving. Craving for Korean food on a Sunday night and managed to get a spot early because it does get busy after 5-6pm. They had specials and so I tried the chicken broth. It was delicious! The chicken was so tender that you can see it was cooked to perfection because it fell off the bone so easily. Very healthy too! A must try! Another must try is the black bean noodle! Hot or spicy, doesn't matter. Either taste delicious! Warning if you're going to try hot pot is to go in a very large group! Was not able to finish it between three people. Or bring along that friend who manages to finish your leftovers ;)
Love it!. This is one of my favourite Korean restaurants in Perth..Very reasonably priced and flavourful food! I like that they have menu items that are vego friendly. Book in advance if you don't want to wait in line as it can get really busy!
Nice Korean food at a good price. I have eaten here for lunch and dinner many times and i have always enjoyed the food very much! My favourites are the sweet potato noodles dishes and the dumplings. Service is friendly and prices are very good (see especially the lunch specials).
Perfect place to start. Went here earlier today with a friend. I told her I'd only tried Korean food once - at Arirang. Her response? 'That's not the best place to go for authentic Korean.' We had initially planned to go to Dae Jang Geum, but it was closed. Nevertheless, I still found Took Bae Kee to be very satisfying. Since it was my first time sampling true Korean cuisine, my friend took the reigns when ordering, and we shared a few dishes. We ordered the kimchee pancake and the sizzling hot & spicy pork BBQ. The pancake was mild, with a soft texture - I quite liked it. On its own, the sizzling pork BBQ is okay (could have been a bit more hot & spicy). But mixed with the various side dishes (kimchee, bean sprouts, nori, and lotus), it becomes something else. Even though we didn't order a lot, I thought it was a decent feed - a big step up from Arirang. I plan to come back during the colder months to sample some of their simmering soups.
Friendly and excellent staff service, food comes out promptly.
Really authentic Korean dishes. I've always enjoyed coming to this restaurant
Where is my Bibimbap?. WHERE IS MY DOLSOT BIBIMBAP?!!?!??! Also the pancake variety isn't as good.
Was a bit disappointed they had different menus to TBK1 but overall its still good and definitely worth a look.
Good and friendly restaurant, owner is Korean, so the food very genuine. Just the portion is a bit small. We had army stew and thought it’s one of those big and for 3-4 pax, however, comes up only a small one.
would say that price is a bit high for the portion but food overall is 👍. sometimes the restaurant can get a bit noisy and loud. seafood pancake is very fluffy and crunchy but the other dishes can be a bit oily. staff are very kind and friendly :)
Love the ginseng chicken soup which is $22.00; wonderful soup and chicken is too good to enjoy. Small restaurants with very clean and tidy setting.
Authentic Korean food. Wife variety of stews and bibimbap. Have visited this place for many years and food quality has remained consistently good.
A decent Korean restaurant. I'd definitely recommend it. I like their pancakes
Absolute favourite in the city Kimchi pancake is a must. The new location is roughly twice the size of the original restaurant. As others have said the menu hasn't changed, you can however order a beer now which is really nice.
