I am very fussy for hokkien mee. So far i only like the one from paxxxxxxx and bixxxxx. Their hokkien is very ok for me, but the fried yee hun is so so only. We came at 11am Sat and we are the first customer. Therefore no issue for customer service wise. Cant guarantee on other time.
Their Curry fishhead is one of the best dish there. Crispy fried chicken is also pretty good. Service can be slow during busy times but the food is good. Chinese restaurants with plenty of chinese eating usually a good sign its decent. Don't understand reviewers that rate poorly on this restaurant when the deserts is subpar....., its a chinese restaurant bro....
I like coming to Happy Union because their food is just really good! I like their cereal chicken, fried squid, pork belly and yam, and their peking beef! I can really go crazy there the food is really above average. Downside is their service especially during busy hour , I think they are understaffed.
Have been dining there quite a bit. First of all the fish head noodle is a real treat, then there's the Happy Union Golden Pork which we have just fell in love with and will from now on be one of our favourites. My son also commented that they gave us lots of tofu pieces in the Sizzling Japanese Tofu which usually other restaurant do not. Most of the dishes are just delicious. The meal was served in good time and overall this restaurant is spacious and is suitable for big gathering as well. Very nice decor and layout. Some dining chairs are a bit worn out and may need replacement.
I liked their curry fish head- though it was a little on the pricey side. Otherwise, nothing much to rave about. Services could be improved especially during busier times.
Thank you for the great service! I organised a birthday dinner in this restaurant last week and we had the best time here. The food was aplenty and delicious. We were also the last table of the night but they still provided consistently good service, so major thumbs up.
Fish head laksa is great. $10.80!! Best value. The other dishes. Meh.
I generally go there during lunch time. I haven't tried all the food but only fried noodle dishes and they are tasty and would recommend it.
Unbiased opinion. In comparison to other chinese restaurants this place is one of the most tastiest restaurants in perth. That may or may not be a good thing depending how you see it. You will notice on alot of dishes it will be quite salty which would greatly contribute to its tastiness which will force you to eat more rice to compensate. overall Its not a bad restaurant or unreasonable in prices as it averages out to be the same compared to other chinese. I am a regular (once a fortnight since opening) and they are also quite consistent.
Favourite. Great place to eat, very good food, really enjoy it every time I visit, i have only been for dinner, if going on weekends i recommend you book, ends up about $20 a person for a meal each to share plus rice. My favorite dishes include the fried fish wings, steamed snow fish and golden belly pork. Highly recommended restaurant.
Had dinner here today with the hungry hippo's (the bf) family. The curry fish wings were yummy and I was content just drowning my rice in curry. The seafood yam ring was nice, as was the roast duck. Overall a very satisfying dinner. We will be back !
Best KL Hokkien Mee in Perth!. Love the KL Hokkien mee - best in Perth! Not for those on a diet but the crispy little lard pieces is the highlight of this dish!
Their fish wings with bee hoon soup is not so consistent - sometimes the fish wings are not so fresh and fried in OLD oil! Other times - really fresh and good!
Love the curry fish head. They're crispy chicken is also delicious!

What A Great Restuarant. Had a meal there with a friend there on a Wednesday night. Easy to find and plenty of parking, though I have been there before where I had to park in the church area across the street, because the restaurant was totally full up. This place is humming, so please don't go there if you are in a hurry. But even if you do, just tell the waitresses and I'm sure they will take good care of you as they did with our party. We had the "snow crab" Wow, to die for and crispy chicken and delicious pork. I saw the comment about the slow service, but having been in a restaurant of my own, I also realize that any restaurant that has a sudden influx of many hungry people,are not always able to get all the food to everyone on time. However I figure that we are there to enjoy ourselves for a few hours and having to wait is just something that's unavoidable sometimes. Anyway we had a wonderful time and the owner actually came over and shared a glass of red with us, a real gentleman with a passion for his meals. If you want a really good night out with great Asian foods this place comes highly recommended. Thank you

Late lunch, good results. We had a booking for this place on a Sunday at 1 pm. Forced to ring them up to postpone by half an hour as we were stucked at beach, no problems at all, table was still held for us. That's good.
Arrived at 1:45. Ha ha, beach took a lot longer then we expected. But still we were sitted quickly and with minimal fuss.
Ok, so let's get down to ordering. We had the crispy chicken, crispy beef, spinach soup, egg thread squids and claypot tofu.
Crispy chicken was very savoury and the dipping sauce definitely complimented it. Crispy beef was a bit dry and unfortunately after the crispy chicken, it tastes a bit bland. Spinach soup was ordered by mistake as we wanted the fried spinach instead. But after the soup was served, we were pleasantly surprised. The soup also has sliced shitake mushrooms and century eggs. It was a nicely done soup. For me, the egg threads squids was a bit of a miss, the rest of the table liked it so must have been me. And finally the claypot tofu. Be mindful that this is served with salted fish so the dish will definitely be salty. We also ordered the Hong Kong fried noodles as a backup in case kids were still hungry.
Those above dishes cost a total of $111 with 3 canned drinks. I think that it is very fairly priced as we had a table consisting of 6 adults and 5 kids. The serving sizes were large as there was enough to doggy bag as well.
Service was prompt but that could be in consideration to the time that we were there and most people were finishing off their lunches instead of starting.
One quibble that I have is that they don't have dinner plates available for the kids. While we did manage to make do with the side plates, it was a challenge as the kids were not as deft due to the size of the plates.
All in all, very pleased with the service and the serving size and will definitely return to try the fish head bee hoon.

Once a week. We knew about this restaurant early last year, i could still remember the first time we went, there was barely anyone in the restaurant, we ordered the curry fish head and we realised that we have found a gem!
I've been bring visiting friends and relatives or having bday dinners in happy union. curry fish head is a must, golden pork belly too.
the service is good and the waitresses give good recommendations and suggestions tailored to the number of ppl dining.
they are getting busier over the last few months, and i think the owner could have hire more ppl to serve. for once, due to miscommunication, they served our golden pork belly after we finished all our dishes, i told the waitress that we didnt want it anymore and she was unimpressed. but she did come to me and apologise when i was at the counter paying for dinner.
just last week we brought our good family friends to celebrate grandma's bday with lobster yee mee, it was DELICIOUS, great night to remember.

Mee-Pok dry is very good, the best you can find in Perth. Close enough to the popular Singapore breakfast dish. Hokkien mee a bit too much dark soy . Chilli sauce is superb, great mix of chilli oil and dry shrimp sambal. from Sgp/Mal will love this place. Haven't tried fried fish gills, but saw many ordering this dish, must be good.
Nice Food. Always order: golden pork belly, curry fish head, and spinach with three eggs. delicious!

Hokkien mee. Since I am not in KL, I think the hokkien mee here can replace the hokkien mee in KL , it no where as good as those in KL without the porky fried cubes taste but it's good enough and certainly satisfy my cravings !

A cut above... tablecloths!. Was recommended to check this out and I did last Sat for lunch. Its located in Sommerville Shopping Ctr, Kardinya. Abt 300m along Le Souef Drive, just opposite a Uniting Church. There is a Thai eatery on its side.
First impressions were good. Very spacious frontage with big doors that gave a very welcoming feeling. I've learned that some folks are v particular about cleanliness so this place passes the test, esp the window test!
Happy Union has been around a few years and it has about 10 big round tables and 10 smaller ones. What impressed me were the crisp white tablecloths! Service was courteous but a bit slow due to it being busy, no complains here.
We ordered a Combi Laksa and a Spore Mee Pok. Laksa was satisfying with a thick spicy broth and lots of ingredients. 7/10. The Mee Pok was above average with particularly enjoyable fishballs. 7/10. Portions are quite generous and 4 people can share 3 orders if they are not ravenous teenage boys. Lunch specials are a reasonable $9.80.
Certainly a cut above, as can be seen from the largely Asian crowd. We felt bad though at making a mess of the spotless white table cloth with the aftermarth of the Laksa. Will certainly go back to try other dishes.
Overall, a great meal, I really enjoyed it. We did go on a reasonably warm night and the restaurant struggled to stay cool, even with pedestal fans being deployed, so if you hate sweating while eating then maybe wait until a cooler night.
Food is pretty and reasonable price. Restaurant ambience is basic. Good place to have a family dinner or with friends.

My friends and I found that Happy Unions Chinese Restaurant is a great place. It is really very interesting to eat there. First of all, I like the favour of the dishes there. What is more, the restaurant offers their guests quite satisfying portions of food. Hey dude, this is what we like. I also like to see the service there. Anywhere folks, you are welcome to enjoy your dishes there.

Great food, hokkien noodles with pork lard tasted very Malaysian authentic. The Fish Noodle Soup is also fantastic.
The food was delicious! Friendly helpful staff too.
