Foods: very good. Atmosphere: very nicely design, like you're in a log cabin. Coffee: great. Service: very good. In short: The kind of neighbourhood cafe that makes u want to move to the neighbourhood so you can come everyday!
A neighborhood cafe at another level. Love the atmosphere here. Foods and coffee are really good with extensive variety. The cafe is attached to a school so expect family and parents in the crowd.
My favourite local Cafe for Sunday brunch. Great setting, coffee is always good, and I love the option to get half portions. My go to dishes are the Avo smash and eggs Benny đ
Love this little community cafe. Food and coffee is always on point and the staff are great. Love the different zones you can choose to sit in and they always keep things fresh. Well priced too
I got the eggs benedict which was the best Iâve ever had and they make awesome almond milk cappuccinos. You need to come in at the right time though because it gets packed quickly with not much seating room.
Beautiful food. Fantastic serving sizes. Decent prices and large sized coffee! Wonderful staff as well. Never stuck for parking, good sized cafe with decent indoor and outdoor seating. Overall treat.
Visited with a group recently and was very impressed with the decor. Just a bit strange though that it is attached to an open business building of some sort. I had the crispy chicken burger with mirin glaze and dill pickles with fries. It was very tasty, although very messy affair! The food was nice and hot and although it was busy the service was quite quick. Definitely check this place out.
Popped in for a quick coffee and was surprised to find such an amazing little cafe in a school! Must have driven past this place a few times without ever realising it was there! The menu items look amazing and will definitely have to come back for lunch. The coffee was delicious and croissant crisp and tasty. Would definitely recommend!
Love the ambiance and the food also beautiful. Their coffee is strong and nice. The staffs are friendly and helpful. We tried the salmon egg benedict and chippies. Also ordered long mac and flat white.
To start, I would like to mention the setting. It does feel awkward driving into a school parking lot to get to the place, so do not worry about that one. In addition, I believe it is within a section of the school where their arent students walking around while having your morning coffee. However, I did go during the school term, obviously, this will be different on school holidays.Â
Onto the review of food and coffee, I went for morning tea and was very happy with the items ordered. We got the Lemon and Coconut slice, the hot cross bun, and may I mention two servings of the fries, because we couldn't get enough of it the first time. The food is amazing, the perfect sour and sweet combination of the lemon slice. However, one issue I did have was that we arrived at around 10:30 am and the hot cross buns had already run out, I found this to be quite disappointing. However none the less the one we had tasted really good.Â
The arrival of the food was quick but not too quick where you begin to think did you already have this heated up and ready to go as soon as I placed my order... staff were quick and attentive, and appeared to be on the ball.Â
Overall, the general atmosphere of the place has the real rustic aesthetic yet it still appears modern and inviting. I can't finish without mentioning the unique idea for table identification, instead of table numbers they had table letters. This was a cute idea that I haven't seen done before. Definitely worth the visit!
If you only visit Timber once in your life, make sure you order the mango sago -- seriously one of the best sago breaky dishes ever served with fresh mango, coconut yoghurt and toasted coconut. $13.50 will get you a decent serve and with a standard coffee, you get away for less than $20. Great value! My only criticism would be the coffee which never seems to be hot enough or strong enough for my liking.
My friend tried the acai bowl which means I did too :) I'd never tried acai before and probably won't have it again now. Didnt like the taste or the choice of fruits on top. The whole dish needed more nuts or something crunchy to vary the texture. My friend wasnt too impressed either and prefers Acai Bros in Freo for her hit.
This is one of the restaurants that is worth going back! I guess being the very first customer for the day makes my first time dining experience a whole new level. The staff greet me with a smile while walking into their lovely setting, lights are bit dim inside but very nice ambience. The service was efficient. We ordered eggs on toast and benedict. I will definitely go back there and try their mango sago. I really like their homemade hollandaise sauce! All the food sounds amazing on the menu!
Delicious fritters and crispy chicken. Very impressed with this place for breakfast; it would have to be the pick of cafes in an otherwise poor part of Perth for foodies. The menu is unique and the venue modern. I would most certainly return for another generous dish.
quite happy with this place. nice to have a cafe like this in the canning vale area. the interior was lush.. i loved the design and feel. lots of nice little details. plenty of seating inside and outside with quite an open feel to it. staff were friendly and helpful. coffee came out very prompty, and my (soy latte) was well made. I was a bit disappointed that there was no Large size mugs for hot drinks, not sure if they just ran out of mugs or just have the one size... ? got offered a takeaway cup, which is big waste with plastic lids for dining in. Would be good to see less of takeaway cups when not necessary. the menu was good, had options for most dietary requirements and options to change. I had the sago pudding, very filling! although it doesnt look like a lot. i was very happy with my meal. my family members got the eggs benedict and mushroom crepes. mum said mushroom crepes maybe had a bit too many mushrooms but that may just be her preference, i would probably have loved the portion of mushrooms. eggs benedict were good, again very generous serving sizes. overall happy with our meals. pleasant ambience and would go again.
My wife and i visited this place on a weekend morning. It was nice and a bit of a random cafe inside a school ground but def worth the visit. So one way of describing it in blunt terms its your standard hipster cafe with a menu with fancy worded meals. The food is great and could do with some minor tweeking but only thing that i bought it down was the chai latte i had which was a tad too watery and the size of the large coffee cup was way too small for the price you pay for. (Consider what others in the market offer) having said that. Definitely worth coming back to.
Came here for brunch on the weekend, very busy cafe and difficult to get a table. My friend had the eggs Benedict with salmon which she think it taste quite average. I had the French toast as recommended by the staff and absolutely love it. It was so beautifully presented too. Coffee was not bad.
Service was surprisingly quick despite being so busy. Our meal came out not long after we placed the order.
Timber cafe is a funky, modern cafe with timber accents on the walls and tables. Read the reviews and thought I had to give this place a go! Located next to a school (which I thought was unique and clever). Coffee was AMAZING, really AMAZING. I bought one for dine-in and another to TAKEAWAY đ Food is always presented beautifully and super appealing but I found the breakfast for 2 was average. The baked beans/chickpeas in the middle were delicious, tomatoey and rich. Eggs cooked perfectly. Mushrooms a bit bland. Bacon was a great addition- who doesn't love bacon?! Not too oily, not too dry (I sound like a kraft peanut butter ad promoter đ
)...
Repeat customer over and over again for coffee. đ
Good customer service. Coffees weren't excellent nor bad, nothing to be complained about. But let's talk about how good their MISO PORK BELLY TACOS are! It's under summer menu. Highly recommend it and get it before they remove from their menu!
Suuuuch a yummy muffin. Banana, almond and white choc. I still haven't had a sit down meal here as it's SO far from home but it's definitely still on the cards Have heard great things about the service so comes highly recommended.
My friend encouraged me to try this place and also the eggs benedict. I was not a fan. However, I do love the coffee and the service is amazing. The perfect place to catch up with friends.
We came here on a Monday morning and it was still crowded! I could just imagine how crowded it was going to get on a weekend! It had an industrialised feel to it and the interior was slick and professional. I already planned ahead that I was going to order the baked fruits ($18). My friend ordered the breakfast taco ($15) and it was so big! The creamy scrambled eggs were amazing and so was the bacon jam and kewpie mayo. My dish was plated sensationally, with 2 pieces of pandan sponge and a drizzle of malacca sugar syrup. The pandan was topped with ricotta and baked fruits. The ricotta and pandan was a perfect combination! The pandan sponge was so soft but with crunchy edges. The ricotta was so light and took some of the sweetness away from the pandan.
Always a great place for breakfast/brunch. The seasonal change of menu keeps things fresh. Parking can be a little difficult during school hours but otherwise great.
I've been to Timber Cafe a few times now because it's really close by. Most of my experiences have been great and they're always using fresh products to make their dishes! The only thing I would pick at is when they change their menu sometimes, they don't really have much to choose from! I would just like to see them maintain the number of items they offer on their menu whenever they do decide to change it, or at least around the same number, or even more! I remember wanting to come back for certain dishes and not only did I not see the dishes that I wanted on the menu, there were less items on the menu than before which was disappointing, but I think they have put more choices on the menu now. Otherwise the atmosphere is really relaxed and friendly.
I've tried quite a few things off their menu but my favourite so far would probably be their 'Belgium geisha waffles' and 'Pork belly burger'! It's really nice to see cafes being built in areas like Harrisdale/Canning Vale/Armadale, because we don't have much down here! Besides being a little inconsistent with number of menu choices sometimes, I would definitely recommend Timber Cafe for good quality brunch meals! Staff are friendly and portion sizes are decent for their prices!
The experience here was quite lovely. Had a little trouble just trying to find the place! It literally blends with the rest of the school buildings of Carey Baptist College.
The vibe was nice, very nice interior - nice and modern. Small menu but something for everyone. There was no coffee/drink menu or anything when we were there unfortunately.
We ordered an affogato and a latte. Latte was good but something about the affogato wasn't right. Strange aftertaste (they did mention that they were redialling the coffee grind after they gave me my affogato and after they adjusted it they brought my partners latte.) I feel like they probably should have given me my affogato after they redialled the machine.
However food was amazing! Partner got eggs Benedict and they were happy to make it with bacon (even though it wasn't an option on the menu to have it with bacon.) Partner said his Hollandaise sauce was great and wished for more, but eggs weren't as runny as he hoped. Was surprised the eggs Benedict didn't come with spinach but I guess each place does it different.
I got the winter smashed avo and it was delicious - matcha salt is really something great! However the whole meal seemed a bit off (maybe a bit salty) but lemon tried to balance it out which made it better. Avocado and the feta was creamy and delicious and the balsamic was great :)
Overall a pretty great meal, hope to come back again!
Yum. Timbre has a small, but perfectly formed menu. The food is excellent quality and so tasty. We went two days in a row, and will be back again soon :o)
Went for breakfast this morning with hubby to catch up with my family.
There are good options for my vegetarian mum. She had the special (mushrooms and truffles with a poached egg) & loved it but did wish it came with 2 poached eggs instead of just one.
I had a really nice chai latte and everyone said that their coffees were really good too. Sadly I didn't get to try the smoked salmon or ham poached eggs (the brisket with poached eggs was perfect though) due to being strict with what I'm eating while pregnant. I will definitely come back to try again and also have a coffee!!
Nice and warm ambience, they have indoor / outdoor selection so you can bring your furry friend along. Such a great addition in harrisdale area!
Food is always great, oh so tasty. Huevos rancheros is so delicious, avo smash is good. Their scramble egg is so silky, home made muffins are so yum!
Found this cafe for out breakfast today. Very cozy place.
They didn't give much option in their menu, tried the smokehouse BBQ beans and curry of Angus beef with a cup of cappuccino. The BBQ beans was great, no complain. They give a very generous portion for the beef cheek curry but too peanutty to be a curry.
A great local cafe nestled within the school grounds of Carey's Baptist College with ample parking. Slightly on the pricey side but offers great quality food that is always so tasty and excellent flat whites (though only one size avail & latte is very bland), has smiley and friendly staff at the counter (orders only taken at the counter so don't expect much table service), and has a natural modern interior that has a warm feel to it. Been twice within the last month and will definitely visit again from time to time as a local.
Saying that, it deeply saddens me to see the three Siamese fighting fishes in the jars (which seemed far too small for any QoL) hanging above the booths as the water looked stale and they look very stressed and dull in colour indicating poor health.
Stopped for a breakfast pick-me-up this morning at this little gem. Interior was lovely with a rustic cozy feeling. Service was fast and seating sparse with generous tables. The decor is modern with many wood pieces (hence the cafe name). Breakfast was yum with homemade hollandaise and eggs poached well. Overall a little family friendly & trendy pace. Looks like they make their own cold brew as well. We love this place âĄâĄ
The deco of this cafe is comfy, cosy and inviting. I loved the fishes swimming in the macrame fishbowl hangers! Such a cool concept. However I was let down by the prices on the menu. The meals sound quite fantastic on paper but I couldn't get past the high prices, waffles with salted caramel sauce, bacon, ice cream was average. The bacon was not crispy, ice cream tasted store bought and I could tell the waffles were reheated. $18 totally blew my mind. Then the scrambled eggs on ciabatta toast for $15, the butter accompaniment was the stand out of the whole dish. The choices of tea was appealing, 'rainwater mint', they prebrew it and place it in a mini glass teapot which was cute but you couldn't ask for a top up of hot water because there were no tea leaves. I have to commend them that their service was quick and friendly. However don't dare to bring your own reusable coffee cup because it's against their policy to make a coffee in it. The person couldn't give me an answer as to why... But it's the first time I have been refused this request.
Came here for the first time with my daughters for brunch. The cafe is beautifully decorated and has a homely atmosphere. I had the smashed avo on toast which was beautifully presented and extremely tasty. The menu is geared for all day brunch, it would be nice to see it expand. My daughter who has coeliac ordered the gluten free bread. She questioned the friendly waiter in regards to the bread because it did not taste like her normal gluten free bread. He assured her it was definitely gluten free. Within an hour of eating she came down very unwell with typical gluten intolerance symptoms. That was the second time she had eaten the bread from Timber and both times she became unwell. The first time she passed it off as coincidence but twice makes it uncanny. I am just wondering what the ingrediants of the bread are as some seeds like quinoa can also have effects in coeliac sufferers. Not blaming the cafe, it won't stop us returning but she will stay away from the bread next time!
Love the atmosphere in this place. It was a great generous portion. I thought it was a tad expensive. Pity there was only an option of poached or scrambled eggs :( And which breakfast place DOESNT SERVE BACON!! Also Didn't like the fact there was only 1 size coffee mug??? Weird! Had to order a take away Cup to get a bigger size. My salmon tasted store bought and wasn't the best.
Good coffee. Breakfast muffin is good. I like the brown sugar muffin which is usually available in the arvo. The cafe setting is good too. The people are polite and welcoming. Love this place.
I wasn't expecting the cafe to be on the grounds of Carey Baptist school though it meant parking was easy on a Saturday morning. The menu seems to have shrunk from the one I saw in zomato. We ordered the avocado smash and toast with homemade preserves. The superloaf bread was delicious but the actual avocado smash was nothing special esp for $17. I loved the lime but with the balsalmic made it too unbalanced. The chai tea was amazing but I wasn't expecting it to come in a teapot pre-brewed with milk. I probably would have asked for soy had I known. But it was still amazing with a hint of honey. Perfect! Overall love the decor... just a fraction pricey.
Read some positive reviews about this cafe and decided to check it out on a Sunday morning. Very nice ambient and it was quite busy when we got there around 9am. We ordered the pulled pork burger and sweet chilli beef quesadilla which were the lunch menu. Pork burger was the highlight of the meal. Loved it so much as the slaw and pork just goes really well together. Also had the chai latte and berry smoothie. Chai latte was a bit too sweet to my liking and the berry smoothie wasn't too bad. Will come back again next time
Large, open space dining indoor and outdoor. I think it's got quite a good vibe and atmosphere to chill, nice decor. Definitely a lot of timber here no doubt. Small menu to choose from, but not necessarily a bad thing. Good coffee and fresh juices. Their mushroom omelette was very nice, mushroom well buttered and not overcooked, perfectly done scrambled eggs and decent bread. Their sweet chilli beef quesadillas were normal. The peanuts were unnecessary and didn't really fit in. Liked the fresh cut chillies on it but otherwise so so. Their beef brisket benedict was heavenly! Just the right amount of sauce, moist and tender brisket, butter and perfectly done eggs. Service was friendly.
This place was literally at Carey Baptist College but such a wonderful find. Definitely would not expect the interior to look so unique (eg fish bowl decorations with a fighting fish inside each one).
My pork belly burger was cooked to perfection! I don't know what a Memphis run pork belly but it was juicy, tender and so flavoursome. Plus, the Apple slaw definitely hit the spot. Though I was expecting a side of chips or something more filling for the steep price of $21. I mean if you think about it you can get a burger and chips at grilled for that price (and have change leftover).
Also kudos to the barista who made my affogato! I was tempted to get another cup because it was so good.
My sister had the coconut poached chicken tenderloins. Which was kind of misleading as it said served with Thai mango green salad. Expected more of a piece of chicken with salad on the side, not shredded chicken with the salad. Didn't really fill her up but the flavours were all there! Refreshing and definitely a well balanced dish.
I'll be back to try the other breakfast or lunch items. This place looks promising:)
Iâm the first to admit that Iâm totally clueless when it comes to dining in the southern suburbs. In my stomping grounds of Joondalup, the inner city areas of Perth, my âgolden triangleâ Post Newspaper region in the western suburbs, the Swan Valley and Perth Hills â I definitely have my finger on the foodie pulse. If I take a trip over the Narrows Bridge â I donât have a bloody clue! I suppose that comes part and parcel with just how huge Perthâs sprawl has become.
I'm all for finding more quality eateries in the Armadale area and am stoked that Timber, although more towards Harrisdale, fits the bill.
Enjoyed the pork belly burger very much at $21 a pop. Price is a bit steep but the twice-cooked pork belly, fresh slaw with crunchy slices of apple and the softest brioche bun with a lightly crispy exterior just melts in your mouth.
Coffee was sensational, classic cappuccino probably best I've had in this area. DĂ©cor is laid-back genius inside and out.
NOTE: They do gluten free options and pretty sure almost everything on the menu has an alternative.
I think best cafe in Harrisdale and Canning Vale. Overall everything above average. If you are here please visit. The food was very presentable and the coffee was good and theres plenty of parking for everyone.
My primary reason for choosing cafes is always looking for the best coffee around, and for coffee these guys are pretty good. Although perhaps not the best in the area.
The food menu is short, but there is some real talent in the kitchen. I have tried a few dishes on their menu and they are excellent.
The most surprising thing to me was their cold brew, it was, for lack of a better word, intriguing. I wanted more, I highly recommend it if cold brew coffee is up your alley.
They have a brilliant fitout, the complimentary sparkling water on tap alongside the filtered is a very nice touch.
First time I've been here, really enjoyed the place & atmosphere & good coffee friendly staff, only had a muffin but was very nice, but saw the food that was coming out looked delicious
Tasty, well sized and presented servings. Can't fault anything besides the coffee was a little slack... Poached eggs were perfect and the bruschetta was my favourite, not heavy and very fresh.
Love meeting my mum here for a meal in between her work breaks! The food is always great, service is great & the presentation is amazing. Definitely a great spot to hang out & have a feed.

Timber Café is a new hip café in the Southern River/Canning Vale area, it is located right next to Carey College, not where you would normally expect to find a café but they've decked out the area very nicely. Their menu is quite simplistic and contains all your favourite breakfast/brunch dishes, we were keen to try it out as we haven't found too many great local cafés in our area.
This place is a hidden gem. Coffee is not that great but the food is amazing. Love the egg benedict and its overflowing hollandaise sauce :) the brisket beef with brioche bun is tasty too!
I went to Timber last weekend. After having heard of it from a girlfriend of mine, I was quite excited. When I arrived and had a browse through the menu, I wanted EVERYTHING!
Whilst waiting for our food to arrive, I was able to slowly enjoy the eclectic decor of the place. It had succulents hanging from little nest like pouches from the ceiling! And the mural on the wall was very pretty - fairytale like. Also, I was very pleased that they serve both clear and sparkling water (from the tap) for FREE.
If FREE sparkling water had impressed me, the food blew my mind! It was fresh and tasty, and we didn't had to wait too long. The cafe was bustling with people but we got our food pretty quick! I didn't get to try the coffee however. I guess I will have to go back there again for a second round! I am looking for to it!
Had brekkie here twice now and regular for takeaway coffee. Best thing to have arrived near Southern River/Canning Vale in years! Food is delicious, creative and high quality. Coffee is always good. Free sparkling water is an added bonus! Well done on opening a fantastic cafe - it was long needed!
Simple yet delicious food, great for both breakfast or lunch. Love the space and relaxing atmosphere, and the unique 'table alphabets'. Also, the music playin added a good vibe, and lovely team (:
Popped in a Sunday afternoon and had a quick brunch. Good service and great food & coffee. I had the breakfast bruschetta and my wife had the granola. Happy with everything. Great atmostphere and decor. Only complaint would be table could of been wiped better before we came. Only a few k from home so I'll be back.
4th time!
Highlight of today brunch was my single origin flat white! It's got really nice fruity flavour, thanks to the barista who recommended it. Mushroom Hot Pot reminded me of Cauliflower Cheese. My Diggity Dawg was unique due to combination of kimchi, sausage and pork floss with mayo. TC always manage to impress me. My next visit wont be too much longer!

Back again for 3rd time. This time we're lucky coz they've brought Waffle dish back due to popular demand. Today's waffle got berry compote, mascarpone, roasted almond and fresh strawberries. Waffle wasn't light (as Gelare's) but not too heavy, it's just nice. Other two dishes we had were the Quattro Funghi Omelette & Pulled Pork Burger. They were both top notch dishes! Omelette was fluffy, mushrooms well seasoned, soft pork and generous amount of kohlrabi & apple slaw. I ordered Ice Coffee again like last time, still nice (strong coffee) and my friend had Ice Mocha with ice cream which she likes. I wish TC is closer to home so I can visit them more often. I'll be back soon!

Had lunch at Timber Cafe today. They have spacious space, perfect for customers with prams, & nice ambience for people to meet up with friends. We ordered Ham Scram Sarni and Pan Fried Mushroom. Both were yummy => Mushroom's one of the best in town. On top of that, we also had Salted Caramel Cronut & Raspberry Frangipani Cake. I had Mocha for drinks and it's actually pretty good. If only this place's closer from home, I'd visit more often. The only thing we didn't like was one grumpy waitress, other than that all good.
Many thanks to Inexology's feed which direct me to this place for breakfast. Breakfast for me is usually a luxury. On weekends, no time as work starts at 0700. On weekends, no time as I wake up way past breakfast. So for me to actually make time to try this place is a Herculean effort. But I digress, onto the review.
Navigating by GPS, got a bit dubious that I was directed to turn into Carey College. But trust in technology we do, so turn we did. And yes, it was located near the Carey Administration Centre. Hmm, car park is full. Is that a good sign that the food is good or is there another event going on?
Walk to Timber. Wow, packed at 1130 still. Plus there was a queue from the counter to the door. The food must be very good! We had to wait 15 minutes for a table. Perhaps that aspect could be improved on? Instead of having the customers swoop like hawks on an empty table, something could be done to facilitate it? For me, it was no problem as I just use my innate Asian powers of hovering round tables until it got vacated. Sorry!
It was a surprise for the Big Boss as I rarely make an effort to wake up early for breakfast but I did today. Knowing that she is a big lover of anything mushrooms, I believe that she would try the Pan Fried Mushrooms, the little boss had to settle for Belgium Geisha and I had Huevos Rancheros.
Pan Fried Mushrooms - 5 different mushrooms, pan fried (doh!) and plated up with goat curd, egg and toast. The mushrooms were fantastic but I was expecting it to placed in their individual groups and not mixed together like a stir fry. Big Boss did not care as it is mushrooms. The Big Boss however did find the goat curd overwhelming and scrape it off.
Belgium Geisha - Belgium waffles. What's not to like? Waffles, maple sauce, fruits, green tea and pistachios? Little Boss found the green tea mascarpone a bit underwhelming. I believe that he was expecting everything to be sweet. We tasted it and found it to be good.
Huevos Rancheros - cast iron pan containing chirozo, spiced tomato ragu and an egg. Came with 2 slices of toast. Hmm, who does somebody eat this dish without a spoon? Oh what the hell, mixed everything up, add salt and using the bread as a spoon, go for it! I believe if I was given 3 pieces of bread instead of 2, I wouldn't have been forced to drink from the pan. But hey, good food is meant to be enjoyed.
There were nice tunes playing and free wifi which is always good when you have bored kids. Water was free flow and you had a choice. Huh? Choice of water? Timber actually offers to you either CLEAR water or SPARKLING water. I believe 99% of places will charge you for sparkling water and will attempt to charge you for clear water but at Timber, both of them are FREE!
Service is excellent. When taking orders, server informed me immediately that there would be a 20 minutes wait. Offer that if I was in a rush, I can get a coffee and cake or muffin instead. That for me is a plus point as the server is giving me other options while trying to retain my business.
Tables were cleared within 5 minutes of being vacated. Food came out in about 15 minutes and drinks came out in 5 minutes. Server bringing food out apologised for the delay despite us being not too concerned about it. Clearing up was done when we were ready to leave and even then that server apologise again if we had to wait and ask us our feedback on the food. Again, all in all, excellent service. I also believe that the service staff genuinely want to be there!
So in conclusion, I will definitely revisit again. What's not to like? Good staff, good food, nice music, free SPARKLING water, ample parking.
But to throw a question out there... ... no bacon?
Great place for a caffeine boost! Nice ambience to chill too. Will definately return for the 5 mushroom dish. Thought I tasted Dukkah, a unique flavour to the dish. Love it!
Really nice space the guys have here, nice, solid coffee. My Long Macc was very, very good, shot was cut just before it hits that bitter stage and it worked with the milk really well. Nutty and some almond/marzipan? flavors. Food was great, we had the mushrooms and a pulled pork burger, both were excellent, the pulled pork was outstanding. Ambiance was really nice and relaxed, plenty or parking!
Having a tasty breakfast on the weekend can be considered quite a luxury. However, there are some breakfast places where the price of food can't be justified with what is served to customers. Fortunately I stumbled upon Morsels 's review of Timber Cafe. After drooling at some photos and saw Timber Cafe's IG photo of the mushroom dish, I made it my mission to go there on one weekend.
It was worth the 30 minute drive from my place and I was so happy to be able to see many Kokenests in real life (by the Birds Nest Co)! I loved the beautiful string of pearls plant (note: quite toxic when ingested).Â
We arrived at around 9:30 AM and chose the small table near the counter as the place was quite busy in the morning, which was always a good sign to see. The table we had chosen was in an unfortunate position because we soon realised that it was right next to the queue of customers. This meant that other customers were standing right next to the the left side of the table where one would feel like you're being watched while eating. This isn't such a big deal overall as there's plenty of other tables evenly spaced out across the venue.
After placing our orders we were given block letters instead of table numbers, a nice little touch that's cute and playful. Waiting for the food to be made wasn't a bore as groovy tunes were being played. Definitely noticed a few heads bobbin' to the beat (smiles).
About 15 minutes later the heavenly smell of mushrooms came out from the kitchen and I was thinking to myself that the Chef was probably making my ordered pan fried mushroom. Presentations for both dishes were really good, sesame seeds were scattered around the mushroom dish to make it prettier. There were 5 types of mushrooms in the dish: swiss brown, field, enoki, shimeji and brown mushroom. All five were mixed well together and tasted so delish with the combination of dukkah, herb butter, goat curd and rocket salad.
As for the taste, my hubby who doesnât usually eat mushroom really liked the pan fried mushroom and even swallowed some enokis⊠The huevos rancheros was really fun to stir in together with the spiced chilli ragu and chili salt powder gives the egg the extra flavour. The menu promised 62 degree egg and they certainly delivered, we were really happy about this.
Timber Cafe is located next to Bunnings and school area, so I assumed a lot of parents must be really happy with the addition of a local cafe there. Like its namesake, the premise utilised a lot of the 'timber' aesthetic. This is evident from their tables, chairs and outdoor benches as well. I walked around the cafe admiring some Kokenests and found that they served free sparkling & regular water. Timber Cafe supplied some of Pressed Earth cold pressed juice and they had beautiful pastries on display in the morning. I will try their croissants next time!
Had a wonderful brunch with the girls at Timber. The atmosphere was really relaxing and welcoming, with their set up being quite chic. I had the 5 different types of mushrooms dish and thoroughly enjoyed it, everything went so well together and I would get it again in a heartbeat. We also had the waffles to share which was quite sweet but perfect for us 4 girls to share. Would come back to try other things on their menu, overall very impressed with this place!
Great new cafe in Harrisdale, just down the road from Bunnings. Spacious, great for mother's group catch ups (must have been 3 different groups when we went on a weekday morning.) Plenty for all the prams! Reasonably priced for food. We had the Belgian waffle, almond croissant and chocolate croissant. Waffle was divine, plenty of toppings and not too sweet. Pastry was good. Hot chocolate was nice but coffee was just OK.
Food came out really quick and service was good. Need more places like these in the canning vale/thornlie/southern river/harrisdale area. Will definitely be back!
Aptly named, Timber is adorned with woody pieces, earthy decor and nutty tones, illuminated by everyone's favourite Edison-esque hanging globes.
Our drinks are served almost immediately, luckily, we also ordered a side of cronuts & honey cake to get our appetites going. The salted caramel cronuts ($4.5) are the right amounts of sweetness & crunch, whilst the honey cake ($4.5) was a surprisingly dense concoction of what tasted like 80% filling & 20% cake. Oddly textured, but deliciously flavoured.
Timber's menu is short and simple, with breakfast/brunch classics like eggs benedict, fruity granola & freshly baked fruit bread. Other items on the menu had a modern twist, such as the belgium waffles with green tea mascarpone (which I am most definitely trying9 on my next visit). Going with the classic Huevos Rancheros order ($17), I was not disappointed. Initial taste of the rancheros warranted the word underseasoned, but the addition of the chilli salt & goats feta gave it the much needed flavour kick. Fresh bread and generous butter on the side made it a filling and hearty dish.
Although you can feel they are still finding their feet, as a new establishment, Timber staff were lovely and that shone through to their great service.
I will be back for the waffles!
It's nice to have a little local cafe just a few minutes away from home, serving some of my fabourite things (mushrooms! And waffles!) The only disappointing thing is that they ran out of hollandaise sauce and it was barely 12pm, and they couldn't come up with a substitute for the Benedict, but the place is nicely decked out, hot beverages are good too :) watch the eggs, they tend to go with the "one egg scenario" so get an extra egg!
Timber Cafe is an interesting new cafe located in  Harrisdale, south-east of Perth. If youâre not sure where Harrisdale is, itâs a relatively new â but rapidly growing â area near Canning Vale and Southern River. Itâs not far from The Roastery, if your body operates by caffeine-compass. I spent many years living nearby in Huntingdale, where my parents still live, so Iâm familiar with the area and visit regularly.
Come here often for one of the best breakfasts in the area. Bacon and eggs any way you wish, always fresh and bacon nicely cooked! Just love this place for our Sunday breakfast.
Beautiful hidden gem, first visit today. Had the smashed avo & dirty chai latte. Wonderful service. Relaxed environment, chilled music & rustic feel.
I'll be back, my new favourite in the area!
What was ordered for brunch this round was amazing! The teas selections were just right. Even bought granolas (tastiest ever for my palate) and doggie treats (review from a good girl: treats devoured. Mission accomplished)
Lovely open if a little small cafe with fantastic food and friendly staff. Great music as well!! I took off one star as they don't do a big breakfast with tomato or beans or sausages đ
Stopped for lunch and was pleasantly suprised with an excellent meal, friendly service and nothing was too much trouble.
As a bonus, the coffee is superb.
Great food and coffee! Lovely seating areas inside and out.
