I went along, on a wet and miserable day, to one of my favourite Chinese nosheries in Northbridge – Hongkies, which specialises in Chinese food with a Hong Kong twist, with influences of Britain and Portugal, especially, shining though. But on this occasion, under the suggestion of owner Flora, we decided to try a fairly new entrant to the menu – a mini Yum Cha of seafood – and delightful it turned out to be, and excellent value to boot.
Simple Hong Kong eatery food. Stir fried noodles, baked rices and drinks. Really like the beef hofun and lemon tea. No fuss place but good food and good service
Everything you would expect from a HK style tea cafe. It’s where you would go for a quick bite and it doesn’t disappoint. Love their baked rice, very creamy and tasty.
Perfect for all your dim sum favourites, without all the hustle and bustle, or queuing.
Friendly and attentive staff, without being pushy. The food was high quality, and delicious. The portion sizes were good, meaning that even though the dishes are more expensive than the regular dim sum places, you don’t end up needing as many serves to fill you (and no overeating).
We have been here a couple of times. Food is always good, however portion is getting smaller?! I think the portion should be a bit bigger with the price we are paying, especially the beef brisket noodles. Service is always good.
Tried the baked rice and teppan pork/chicken chop here. The baked rice was everything you'd expect: creamy, hot and flavourful. I was a bit let down by the pork chop, I felt the sauce could have been better and lacked both umami and spice.
Service is efficient and friendly. I would like to try the dim sum and bao if I make another visit.
Went there for dinner with a large group. The food was nice enough, had some crispy chicken. Some of my friends were a little disappointed with their meals. Nothing spectacular but not disappointing. Seating could be improved
We came here at around 8pm after a fringe show. There was 5 of us and we ordered quite a lot of food. We ordered dim sums, bao, dumplings and Singapore noodles and it came to $16 each! So cheap and the food was really good. Will definitely come here again :)
Nice food and reasonable price. Helpful staff. A place I love to chill with my kids. This place cured my homesickness of Hong Kong where I grew up. Recommend their iced milk tea and sizzling steak.
This is quite a good Hong Kong style restaurant. Most of their baked dish are quite good - pork chop based rice with creamy sauce would be perfect if the pork can be slight thicker slice to improve the texture. Hong Kong-style milk tea can be improved if tea taste stronger. Beef Fried Ho Fun is perfect and won our hearts!
A pretty good Hong Kong style restaurant. We don’t have this food style a lot here in perth but I think they’re quite good. First time trying here, the place is quite cosy and the staffs are friendly too. We tried the chilli dumplings to start with and it was flavourful. The Peking spare ribs and sizzling Japanese tofu and chicken were also tasty and comes in a good portion. We had a winner with their baked dish at this visit - it is the pork chop baked rice with creamy sauce that wins us over. Since they have quite a large selection of menu, we might come back and try other baked dishes next time.
Came here for dinner, Saturday night. Best meal I've had out in a long time! Squid tentacles and peanut butter French toast are a must when dining here also the sizzling steak!! Will defiantly be back for sure.
We went in at around 4pm on a Saturday, when every where else closed. This place is vibe n comfortable, friendly service even though it was quite busy at the time. We had a ice tea and it was so refreshing, according to the waitress this ice tea was freshly brewed every 2-3 hours. The club sandwich was amazing, with thick omelette, very tender pork chop n cheese, great taste! Will definitely go back to try the lunch or dinner.
Great restaurant! Nice decor at the restaurant! We went around 730pm on a Sunday night and the place was not too busy.
I ordered the Portuguese baked cheesy rice with pork (chicken is the other option) and did not disappoint! Very rich and delicious! Just think of a mild curry and add cheese to it! Washed it down with a lemon tea!
Good value and will come again! Great little eatery!
This place is new, taking over the previous place that provided the same cuisine.
The renovations make this place more interesting and inviting to the younger crowds. The menu appeals to the hong kong people who want a taste of familiarity.
The baked rice dishes are my favourite with the cheesy toppings. The hk milk tea is authentic and worth trying.
If you've been to Hong Kong before and know what a typical tea cafe is, this place is worth a visit.
Been a regular for years, good service & food is always delicious. Always been my daughter’s go to Tea Cafe for Pork Chop Rice with Lisbon Sauce. Give it a try if you are into Cantonese Hong Kong style cuisine. Will not disappoint!
This restaurant offers a very extensive menu of Hong Kong tea cafe comfort foods including stir fries, sizzling dishes, noodles, rice dishes, snacks - from individual portions to sharing plates it has plenty to choose from.
The food is good if not pretty standard. If you're craving Hong Kong tea cafe style treats that'll satisfy your appetite, this place fits the bill.
However, the Hong Kong style drinks we had were pretty average, with average tasting tea and lack of good tea and coffee flavour in the cold Yuen Yeung.
The venue has quite a lot of internal seating including table and booth style seating, and with Hong Kong memorabilia throughout, this makes for an inviting experience.
The interior is funky and the murals on the wall pay a homage to hong kong.
The male tiolet felt slighty dodgy, like them dodgy alleyways in hong kong away from the neon signs.
Customer service didn't really come with a smile but it was expedient and welcoming nethertheless.
We tried the fried squid. It was tasty, fresh and lightly chilly, albeit somewhat salty.
The main was braised beef and chicken both of which were generously portioned and more importantly was delicious when supplemented with white rice.
For dessert we tried fried bun with red beans and ice cream. It was good if you have a sweet tooth, unfortunately a bit too sweet for me.
Overall worthy place to visit and try it out.

Very good HK milk tea about 80% HK standard, the bo lo bao not bad, the wan tan mee noodles is too fat not HK standard. Overall is good at Perth. The CCD with nonstop Cantonese medley.
