Review Cafe Karache - Perth

A nice little gem for Malaysian cuisine. Located right opposite Equus Arcade on Murray St just before Barrack & Murray St Mall, this cafe has been around for a long time, and attract the lunchtime office crew like us and the locals alike. They are quite small and the price of 2 meat & 1 veg with bryani rice is $13. The variety is quite good for the choices, and I found the taste quite yummy and not too spicy. One of their lunchtime specials is roti canai (flat bread) with chicken curry for $5, which I found to be enough for a small lunch snack. They also have the lamb shank for $15 which I am keen to try next time.

It’s not much chooses for vegetables, but they are kind and friendly. Beef is too hard to eat. Foods are local and pretty spicy🤣🤣 If you were not good at spicy food, don’t try haha

This is a hidden gem, so easy to walk past. They have a good choice of freshly made dishes, so tasty. The prices are good, the staff very friendly and food far better than any food hall, and better value too.

Amazing food, friendly service, can't go past the Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang.

Have been going there once in a while for their fish dishes and rice combo that comes in around 10 dollars! Bang for the bucks !

I’ve had a few negative experiences at this place and will now never return! Firstly I had picked up 1 chicken biryani takeaway (serves are so small) for my father who was in hospital, the chicken was bad and that could be smelt as soon as he opened the container, what a waste and a shame it had to go in the bin!, Please make sure your food is sitting at the correct temp so it’s safe for your customers! Secondly the women that work in this place are very rude, not only to me but as I waited to be served, I witnessed many others not been treated very nicely! Be KIND, it’s costs nothing!!

Lovely staff. The deep fried whole fish with spicy topping was just how I like it! Get there early, food's that good, it's gone before lunch is over.....

Decent and affordable Malaysian food! Karache offers quick variety of meats and veges with rice including lamb, chicken, and beef rendang. My favorite would be the chilli butter chicken (soft, savoury and not too spicy!) and the vegetables in coconut milk which brought up some of those Malaysian flavor. I tried the lamb but was a bit tasteless and hard to chew.

Price was also not too bad at $13 you got briyani rice, 2 meats and 1 veges. $10.50 if you want plain rice. Portion is average.

Cash only though - so make sure you got some cash prepared. That being said, one time I forgot to bring cash and only realised this at cashier. But the lady was super friendly and nice enough to let me eat first, and to come back later on. I know $13 was not much, but still, I was impressed with the level of trust and service. It is this kind of thing that makes you remember this kind of place. I will bump up my rating from 3.0 to 3.5 because of the high level of service in this place.

Been eating here for the past 13 years (from student to working person)! This place is a winner for a very filling, delicious meal and it's great value!! Good Malaysian food, although limited range. Lovely people behind the counter.

Wonderful flavoursome food, consistent quality and exceptional service. I don't post reviews on urban spoon, but for these guys I have to make an exception. I've been eating lunch at this wonderful little cafe for the past 10 years. Consistently awesome quality, flavour and service every time. Their signature Briyani dish has such a wonderful unique flavour, not heavy like more northern Indian style. The meat is always top notch and falling apart tender. In fact all their food has a great fresh style about it. I agree with a previous reviewer, lots of love and care goes in to the food here. The owners are exceptionally kind and friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing.

This review is just my way of saying thanks for all the effort they put in to their food and their business.

Freindly hospitality with a smile. Tasty food that is NOT swimming in oil as many curry resturants serve. Good value for money and better than Chillies next door. Nice cafe atmosphere.

I dont think they have an a la carte menu. What you see is what you get. Their chicken briyani is good but the portion is a bit too small for its price. The chilli in their sambal egg and tofu is too overpowering that u can hardly taste the subtle flavours of boiled egg and tofu. Teh tarik is a must-try.

I like a good Biryani - I think there are better ones, but this one is reasonable, very cheap and the service is good.

Quick and cheap. I used to get takeaway from here regularly a few years ago. I always got rice and some sort of curry vegetable dish/tofu. Not sure if it's changed since then, but I always found it tasty enough and CHEAP.

Good lunch spot. Had Malaysian style weekday lunch for $10.50 (including a tea tarik), and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Flavours were not particularly strong or spicy, but the beef was very good, tender, not dry, and not a single bit of gristle. The potatoes were also quite good, very creamy. All the food was labelled, which is always helpful for those of us not familiar with the dish names.

I'm sure either chocolate powder or milo had been added to the tea tarik - it was fine but tasted different to the ones I've had at other places.

The cafe filled up very quickly just after 12pm with people from various cultural backgrounds (its fairly small - maybe 8 or so tables inside and a few outside). The service was friendly, and just before it got busy I noticed a man who may have been the owner chatting to some of the regulars.

Only concern was the food was just warm, which seems to be a common theme among cafe's serving this type of food.

Grabbed a 'lopis' (pressed rice coated in coconut with palm sugar syrup) on the way out for afternoon tea, which was not too bad either.

Would definitely visit for lunch again.

The selection of dishes is fantastic and they are all very tasty. The bain marie is the home of two of our favourite offerings Nasi Campur and Nasi Briyani.

...my favourite thing about this place is the love factor. There is a definite sense of love being put into the dishes here.

Cafe Karache is a simple restaurant with a modest setting but obviously has a following judging by the patrons stopping by. The meals are cheap, the servings decent, and the food enjoyable. If you’re after a cheap meal that still delivers on taste you can’t go too wrong with a visit here.
