They do a good coffee, and charge a lot less than others in the area during morning happy hour. Haven't tried their takeaway food though. Staff are always very friendly.
Hidden Gem!
Visited this cozy cafe along Barrack Street on 2 occasions and had the latte, iced matcha and an iced latte. Drinks were fab! Coffees were smooth and rich, and the matcha is probably one of the best in Perth. Didn't get to try the selection of bagels and pastries they had in store but everything looked yummy.
Service was friendly and efficient. Absolutely adored the quirky artwork by Kyle Hughes-Odgers as well. Love how bright and spacious this place is, very scandi and relaxing.
I will definitely be back for more!
A regular morning location for me, they take the time to remember your name and usual order - great service backed up with great coffee. Tried one of the croissants once, not bad either. Go before 9am for the special coffee prices.
I ordered an ice matcha and the guy was like "green one?" 😂😂 next time i'll spell it out for you m8 👲🏽haha. Apart from the language barrier, it actually tastes pretty good, refreshing on a hot day ! 🌞 Was looking for some sushi or some type of asian snacks but they didn't have any 🍣 nice design inside, would come back to try more !
There are not many places in Perth that serve coffee between 7am and 9am for only $3. I ordered a long mac topped up and it was made just the way I like it (they do charge $3.50 for these). I also tried one of their bagels - ham cheese and pineapple which was extremely filling but really delicious. I also thought the staff were really friendly, I will be back!
This spot is a little hidden and was quite quiet when visiting at lunch time but the coffee was good and the green tea soft serve was yummy! Small selection of food was available in the cabinet including some interesting things like pandan chia pudding.
Rather than wait until the traditional primary school 'recess' time we decided to venture out for a pre work coffee and croissant...well and a matcha latte too truth be known.
And disappointment was not anywhere to be seen.
The latte was a little bitter at the beginning (Perth trend me thinks) but mellowed into a flavoursome brew.
The matcha received positive reviews, and although not ranking as the best in Perth it ranks highly. Notably creamy and not too bitter, for the more delicate matcha palates out there.
The croissant was ok, not the best and the pastry was a little bland. Would have benefited from warming (which in fairness we declined!)
The place itself was new and fresh with rather pleasant, green themed decor. The bagels on display tempted me strongly and it won't be long before I head back to try.
Overall good opening hand, looking forward to the second round.
Yay! Another good matcha spot in the CBD! Other end of town for me but I'd make the journey every once in a while. Creamy soy matcha latte, not insipid as a few I've tried of late, but not the 5 star taste I've managed to find (twice). Coffee started off bitter but improved (4/5). The chocolate croissant was ok. Flaky but didn't have a buttery taste. A heating would have disguised that but I wanted to experience it au naturel. Gentle friendly service. Nice decor (Japanese/Scandi) with a surprising amount of seating for a coffee place. There was a lovely display filled with baguettes, bagels, chia puddings (Pandan! Rose!) and the like. Actually I'd come back to try a chia pudding and a bagel me thinks. Watch this space.
New gem on Barrack Street! Keep your eyes open because you don't want to miss this!! Such friendly service and GREAT coffee!!! Currently feeding my coffee addiction!!!
Walked in to a great set up with quirky art work on the walls. The staff were friendly and helpful when I couldn't decide which bagel to get! Had the most flavour filled bagel here accompanied by amazing coffee! Definitely coming back to try the matcha soft serve👌🏽
Best coffee in Perth hands down with exceptionally friendly staff. Kyle's artwork on the wall is pretty cool too, their soft serve was God-sent with the scorching heat last week.
Cute little addition to the Perth CBD coffee scene! Love Kyle's artwork on the wall.
The highlight for me would be the matcha soft serve there, perfect now that spring is finally here!
Didnt realise that there's a new coffee shop until recently. So i went there to try a while ago. They are using Loaded coffee beans, based in Nedlands. I tried the beans before another coffee shop in Floreat but it wasnt that good (blame the barista). Recess coffee was definitely made with passion. Coffee was smooth, perfect taste and came with pretty latte art. Almond Croissant was also great. Today I tried their Matcha Latte. It's weak because I asked for skim milk. But after it's gone cold, I actually liked it better (Iced Matcha Latte for me next time!). Friendly & efficient service by the guys. I think I'll be a regular now!
I arrived a little after 2pm and was feeling rather peckish. They had ran out of most food items and was very keen to try this interesting toastie combination. To my surprise, it was really yummy! The strawberry tang helped cut through the grease and cheese, making it light yet still savoury and very enjoyable.
The coffee was good. The space is nicely decorated, and the staff were friendly. I didn’t have any food but I’ll definitely be back to try the food and get another cup of coffee.
Visiting on business from Singapore, this is the first good cup of coffee I've had in Perth all week!
cosy place, for the quick morning coffee or breakfast. client from Interstate came here once, loved it, and so we're always here eveytime he's in Perth.
Great coffee and very friendly staff.
They are also very fast so I know I won't be delayed getting to work.
One of the best coffees in the CBD. Owners are so friendly and they have a flow of regular customers. Owners know exactly what coffees their regulars have. Talk about awesomeness! Value for money too.
Went with a friend last Wednesday. Cozy shop with friendly staff. My coffee was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Will be my new usual spot before work. Strongly recommended.
Recess is a good coffee place. Decent sitting place to have your morning coffee or a quick take away. It doesn't have an open-air setup to enjoy a sunny morning, but has a cozy sitting place inside. My fav drink is Mocha.
I went to Recess hopping to get a green tea soft serve. Unfortunately, the only flavour on offer for soft serve was the Milo. I made up my heart to go try the green tea soft serve. Instead, I got a cold green tea latte to go. It tasted good.
Hopefully, next time when I go again they have green tea soft serve on offer.
