I had the beef salad noodle bowl combo with a chicken rice roll and tea. The noodle bowl is soooo good! The beef was cooked and seasoned so perfectly and you can add extra sauces and toppings from the sauce station if desired. ☺️ Although, I wasn't a big fan of the cold tea as it tasted like cinnamon but it was refreshing and complimented the meal very well. This is a very great place in the CBD and I'm sure to come again!
I decided to come here and use a Scoopon voucher for my meal combo which discounted the price to $6.50 from the original $13.80.
It was pretty packed around noon but i managed to find a seat at a table that had not been cleared.. since it was busy i waited 20minutes for my meal and during then the table was still not cleared till my meal arrived. I had Rice noodle Salad with Chicken, Chicken Rice Rolls and Tea. It tasted pretty good at first till i starting eating the rice noodles and find it abit oily it must of come from the chicken but its okay i didn't bother me much but i would rather prefer it not to be oily, that was the only downfall for me otherwise i quite enjoyed it here.

Strolling around in a Friday and saw this place which looked busy, so thought we would give it a go. Service was excellent from the moment you walked in and left as was the wait time. Prices are very reasonable, and the produce is super fresh. We had the rice paper chicken roll and the Vietnamese spicy roll. Both were very delicious, and we would recommend it. I would have liked a little more spice , but I must admit I didn't see the free condiments (with chilli) so that was my fault. But you must give this place a try , value for money 💰
Urban Bowl is awesome and ticks all the boxes - delicious, fresh, generous portions, cheap, fast and friendly service. I'm a fan of their noodle and rice bowls for $9.90 which comes with your choice of chicken, beef, pork or tofu then lettuce, pickles and then I top it with fresh mint, peanuts, dressing and chilli from the condiment bar.
Highly recommend for a quick, tasty and cheap lunch!
Urban Bowl (UB) is an excellent choice for a quick, delicious lunch in the Perth CBD. All the meat is incredibly tender and packed with flavour (try their lemongrass pork on rice which I usually pair with a cheeky spring roll). The guys always iterate and improve on their recipes and the menu always changes – there is usually something new at least every couple of weeks.
UB is also churning out some great joe with their new Fiori blends – these guys know how to pull a mean shot. Best of all, there is a range of condiments and sauces, all of which are provided without charge (unless some other city eateries which charge for soy sauce). Goes a long way toward showing the heart and soul of this place.
Tam and his team put on a tight show and the wait times are minimal – keep up the great work guys!
“WOW, it’s so pretty” that was my first thought when I opened the takeaway box of our Rice Noodle with Grilled Pork from Urban Bowl. The arrangement and the colour were really coordinated well in that ordinary rectangular box setting – which is actually an unusual container for this very common Vietnamese meal (usually the takeaway for rice-noodle is in bowl-shaped container). Oh, and the cracker that initially I thought was an onigiri was a nice addition.
Located in the middle of high-rise corporate building, Urban Bowl is designed for takeaway while they do have a number of limited sitting inside and outside the shop. You can always rely on their friendly staff to get the food ready quickly in case you are rushing to get back to work.
Their rice noodle was priced on par with other rice noodle but I found that the quantity was slightly less – perhaps because of the shape of container. The pork was a bit dry and hard but it was made bearable by the tasty spices covering the pork (and also adding to the colour and overall presentation) and their pineapple sauce helped a lot in improving the overall flavour. The highlight for me would definitely be the spring roll : fat & juicy!
Lovely service by the team there!! The rice was supremely delicious - prime grilled beef. Comes with fresh salad, pickles, soft boiled egg and flavoured rice. Highly recommend this. Pho was a good serving size with gentle flavours. The tea and spring roll combo was a great addition. Sweet tea with peppermint, cinnamon and Earl Grey. Didn't try the banh mi as it was a little expensive.
Tucked away between the office towers of Perth is a Vietnamese eatery that makes the best pho this side of Northbridge. It is unassuming but makes a wonderful bowl of Pho that cures the lunchtime slump. The good thing about the Urban Bowl is that their Pho also comes in a cup if you’re not up to having a full bowl.
I must say, I'm very impressed by this Vietnamese Cafe. From the location, the very fast service, the menu selection, the dining options and the fresh tasting food. There's a condiments area that meets you dress your food however you like with a range of sauces and chilli. I had the grilled chicken noodle salad - it came with a vegetable spring roll, chicken grilled very tender with a nice marinade, crushed peanuts and a rice crisp. The whole combination just felt fresh and delicious. Their banh mi bread roll was crispy and fluffy as it should be, with the beef brisket that was not chewy. Their Urban Rice was also seasoned well that made it fragrant. Overall very happy with this place and will definitely come back for other items.
I've been here several times after 'discovering' the cafe.
I think the rolls are the best of their lunch items, and will try the sensibly priced breakfast options soon (Urban Bowl opens early).
The staff are always enthusiastic and look like they love working there.
Vietnamese inspired cafe with good variety of tasty salad, vermicelli salad and rice bowls. Highly recommend the salad bowls but not Banh Mi as I find the banh mi were more like normal baguette sandwiches (lacking of the fragrant pate, mayo, herbs and vietnamese fillings that should be in an authentic banh mi) but the salad were fresh and generous!
Good service. Good range of dishes. $12 for a rice dish which I think is a bit much, so I didn't try it. Went for the Vietnamese rolls which was a bit complicated because 1 was not enough and 2 were too much. I went for 2 (salmon and chicken). The rolls cost either $3.50 or $4.50 and there are 4 to choose from. They were ok. Good size. Sauces were ok. Nothing spectacular but I hear good things about the Vietnamese baguettes. The salads look big. I will probably be back to try another dish. I rate 4 as I'm probably not really into Vietnamese cuisine but there was nothing really wrong the dining experience.
A bit of a hidden treasure in the CBD. We decided to pop in for Friday lunch and were very pleased. I tried the King fish & squid vermicelli salad and a pork & coconut rice roll. Both were very tasty and the peanut dipping sauce blew my mind hole!!! She had the beef brisket rice salad. The beef fell apart and had wonderful flavour - a real winner. She finished off with a choc Orange raw dessert and liked that too. Service was friendly and very fast. Bravo Urban Bowl - I will be back for sure.
This place is great. I work in the city and I've been all over looking for a reasonably priced lunch that isn't gonna make me fatter! Their salads are fantastic and their pork bahn-yi rolls are to die for. I've actually yet to find a more cost-effective, tasty luncheon experience in Perth CBD TBH. So far, and I've burnt a lot of shoe leather on this, these guys rock #1 for price, taste and health. Just try their huge, non guilt salads. But not the vegetarian one. Not 100% sure about fried spring rolls in the vegetarian version of the salad. A little more imagination needed there, methinks. You can't be too gushy.
But if it is only Pho that you are looking for, there is a little somewhere more central in the city with similar credibility on its cover. This small unsuspecting cafe is called Urban Bowl.
Wow!! We came here for breakfast during #eatdrinkperth and now I can't get into the city to eat here often enough. The banh mi are amazing, as are their salads. Today I am going to try the pho!!
Good value for $$. The little things they do to make their banh mi (Vietnamese baguette), muesli, salads extra special. I had the grilled beef brisket banh mi and they offer extra chilli, peanuts and aoli at no extra charge. I've never been offered the extra peanut n aoli so that was a win and it was delish.
With household names like Tra Vinh, Phong Vinh and Phi Yen making mouths salivate with their signature Pho, lemon grass chops and curries, these places are almost no brainers. But if it is only Pho that you are looking for, there is a little somewhere more central in the city with similar credibility on its cover. This small unsuspecting cafe is called Urban Bowl.
Great fast service, the food was perfect for a quick and tasty lunch time meal. The serving sizes are substantial; I don't think dinner will be required! We had the veggie rice and salad dishes. The salad dish was excellent value with two delicious spring rolls. I'll be back.
This is a fantastic lunch spot in the heart of the CBD tucked away on Sherwood Court just off busy St George's Terrace. I've visited a few times and have always been happy with the food and service.
The Vietnamese rolls have a few tasty fillings to choose from in a big crunchy bread roll.
The fresh rice paper rolls are a generous size (the biggest I've seen actually!)
The salads are a great option, made fresh to order.
Everything on the menu is reasonably priced, with the option to dine in cafe style or take away back to your desk for a quick and healthy lunch.
We're passionate about fresh and amazing Vietnamese food with a twist. Take a a break from those pesky mergers and client briefings and have lunch with us.
Delicious Bahn Mi and I Loved the Rice Paper Roll. I was catching up with a mate and went to Urban Bowl located in the Exchange Plaza (Sherwood Court). The venue offers seating inside and out and you can also takeaway. There's rice paper rolls, baguettes, salads and noodle dishes to choose from this Vietnamese restaurant. I chose the beef brisket bahn mi with Vietnamese bread roll (multigrain also available) and also a pork belly rice paper roll with hoisan dipping sauce. The bahn mi is freshly prepared and packed full of ingredients. There's a lovely smear of pate, tender beef brisket, coriander, carrots, and optional chillies and peanuts. Lovely satisfying bahn mi. For my afternoon snack, I dived in to the rice paper roll which is very plump and fat, filled with rice noodles, pork belly and other ingredients. The hoisan dipping sauce is just amazing and made for a delicious rice paper roll. Excellent and top value.
Quick, fresh and affordable. Love this new find!!
Ordered the 48hour cooked beef brisket noodle salad ($12) and only waited less than 5 minutes.
They also have breakfast items available all day AND they use recycled materials.
Lovely service & fresh salads. Will be back :)
Good Morning Vietnam! As part of the Eat Drink Perth festival, Urban Bowl is introducing two traditional Vietnamese breakfasts to us Perthians, with one of the dish served on a sizzling plate! Urban Bowl is located on Sherwood Court, off St Georges Terrace right next to the Exchange Plaza. Known for its fresh and clean Vietnamese food with a twist, I have been a frequent visitor of past to get my hands on their delicious rice paper rolls and Vietnamese salads. This time round I was keen to check out the two breakfast dishes created by Urban Bowl especially for Eat Drink Perth! What are these two dishes you ask? They are the Bo Ne (lemon pepper steak with fried egg) and the Bo Kho (herby beef stew with a 62 degree egg). Both served with a toasty baguette and an iced Vietnamese coffee for $20! My sister and I ordered one of the breakfast dishes each so that we can have a taste of both. She preferred a Mocha instead of the Iced Vietnamese coffee as it was quite cold in the morning. Her request was gladly obliged. I was happy with the Iced Vietnamese coffee , bring it on I say :) A note that Urban Bowl serves a wide range of coffee and tea (Urban Cup) for all the working people out there. I saw quite a number getting their takeaway cuppa that morning! And now for the main dishes… Bo Kho (herby beef stew with a 62 degree egg) – this was one saucy dish with tender beef chunks and carrot pieces. It was one hand baguette and the other sauce dipping and beef piling. It was great! The 62 degree egg added some gooey goodness to the dish while the lime juice a lovely twang, so squeeze it hard, you won’t regret it! The dish was actually too big for me so I took some home and found that it tasted even better after it had been soa
Had the braised pork Banh mi. It was nice, but not the best banh mi I've had.
OOO M Geee. I was skeptical about ever enjoying lunch in the city but Urban Bowl has become my "happy place". If you haven't tried it, then do. The ingredients are top shelf, and exceptionally fresh. Delicious. I am hoping they will open a chain in West Perth too.
I will gladly pay more for what you get... Amazing value.
Amazing!!!. I love Urban Bowl, it was the one thing I was excited to get back to work for after the Christmas break. I find myself lunching here most days for the chicken and cabbage salad...amazing!!!
Love it. Excellent Vietnamese in the central of the cbd, great friendly and helpful staff, great food at sensible prices. Keep up the good work guys!
Getting addicted to this place. Love the food here - so healthy and fresh. They even have multigrain banh mi thit! Their Pho, salmon salad and rice paper rolls are definitely my favourite!! Been here a few times, great atmosphere. Just a tip if you like coffee but not so much of a full-blown coffee addict, tell them to give you one shot since their standard coffee has 2 shots. will come back for sure to try other dishes
Tried it for the first time yesterday and had the Banh Mi and a coffee, both delicious. Went back for lunch today and had the Rice paper rolls, yum too. Great service and prices too.
Really Lovely. I got the salmon salad box for my lunch the other day and it was super tasty and at a reasonable price which is refreshing in Perth. Unfortunately the boxes are really poor quality and half my salad spilled out :( so just a little improvement with the boxes and this is my new go to place for lunch in the city.
Best Banh Mi In Perth. Had the brisket Banh Mi, best thing I have ever tasted for $8.20 in Perth.
Amazing food, will be back!. Came here for lunch yesterday, had the tastiest rice roll and my friends salad looked incredible. Great for a light lunch and would recommend this to everyone, can't wait for for the full menu to be out, 10/10!
Price: $10 (salad) or $8 (bánh mì)
Verdict: The salad is one of the better healthy options we've reviewed but the Banh Mi falls well short of others around town.
Tip: Stick to the salad and don't forget to pick up a container of dressing.
Location: Bottom of Exchange Plaza, off Sherwood Court.
After hearing about Urban Bowl on The Food Alternative , we were inspired to give it a try. Urban Bowl is the brainchild of Tam Nguyen of Butty's Food Truck fame. And while we are absolutely devastated that Butty's is no more, and will mourn the demise of their Rib Burger for years to come, it's nice to know that the keen food mind behind that delicious burger can now be found at a brick and mortar store every day. No more chasing that food truck! Nguyen has used Urban Bowl to flex his Vietnamese muscles, gastronomically speaking of course! They serve a selection of Vietnamese favourites such as vermicelli noodle salads (bun bo xao), rice paper rolls and the ever popular Vietnamese inspired bánh mì (Vietnamese baguettes) and salads. The vermicelli salads look great but at $11, are unfortunately ineligible! Being men with healthy appetites, it's rare that one of us will order a salad. But on this occasion, the poached salmon and red rice salad was a real winner. A decent amount of well-poached salmon was hiding under a heaping of roasted peanuts, fried shallots and chilli (optional of course), served with mixed lettuce, bean sprouts, spring onion, pickled carrot and grains of red rice, which helped to fill out the meal. To top it off, it's served
If you loved the Butty’s Food Truck, you’re already a fan of Chef Che Tam Nguyen’s delicious creations. The Butty’s brand is having a hiatus for now to make way for his new venture in the Perth CBD.
I couldn’t believe these whoppping great spring rolls were only $3 each (it’s a pretty decent handful.. heh)...Value for money: reasonable, standard cheap Vietnamese food prices
Delicious banh mi rolls, and the poached salmon red rice salad is exceptional.
Awesome stuff, especially if you have a Scoopon voucher. I've gone there twice - Had Chicken Rice Bowl + Springroll and soup the first time and had Beef noodle bowl with rice paper roll and tea the second time. The food is nice and fresh - the choice of dressing allows you to mix into any taste you like - only downside is the cutlery. Imagine trying to cut a minute steak placed on a bowl full of rice noodle with a tiny flimsy plastic knife. The outdoor seating is also good.
Not been here for a while, but the coffee is amazing (only downside is they don't have loyalty cards) Food is even better, great quality and very fair pricing. If you visit/work in the city you should definitely try food here sometime you won't regret it.
Affordable and cozy. Vietnamese food, but not mentioned in its menu or name. Unassuming. Food is not exactly spendid, but its value for money in an expensive city like Perth.
Fantastic place. The food is delicious and fresh and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!
Quick preparation, friendly service at decent prices. Good spot for a quick healthy lunch
