Universal Bar in Northbridge opened in 1993 and is known for its cocktail list, pub grub and live music. I was invited to try some of the bar’s delicious pizza and cocktails as part of the venue’s 23rd birthday celebrations!
Recently had a 21st here at the upstairs bar, fantastic venue! Their pizzas, both barbecue and vegetarian are absolutely yummy. So is the party platter special menu, we got the chicken kebabs, asian platter and the curry puffs. The best bit is the staff, very accommodating and helpful with events planning and decoration. Very reasonable, they also provide custom bar menus and balloons for your event. They have a retractable roof and heaters, pity it was raining. Would highly recommend!
For Happy Hour, this place is terrific. We've been back a number of times because they're one of the few places that does a Friday afternoon happy hour. $7 on all wines, spirits and tap beers - fantastic! Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is a bit nightclub-ish for afternoon drinks but sit out on the pavement and people watch with your cheap drinks and it's great!
This place rocks. Everyone goes for the $15 steak and beer deal but the $28 fillet steak and fries is sensational.
We came here for dinner on sunday. they have great deal 300g steak with pint for $15 or pizza with pint fir $10.
awesome deal with nice food and good sevice too! :-)
Entertainment Book. Good location in Northbridge but it was pretty quiet at 6pm on a Wednesday night. The service was excellent and we couldn't fault the wait staff. Top Points.
The Turkish bread and dips was excellent and the bread was fresh, warm and crispy. Our mains were satisfactory and it was the salads that let them down, nothing but a few greens and onion and light on with the salad dressing.
There was also no draught beer in a bar and they put too much bitters in the LL&B's.
Corporate Function Paradise. Had a corporate sundowner here last week, I must say, Wow.
I've been going to these things for years and normally they're horrid. The food is usually terrible, the staff uninspired and the facilities boring to say the least.
The Universal Bar however was amazing. The first platter to come out were local crab cakes, they were the best function food I've ever had! The tab put on by the company included great Craft offerings like Pip-squeak, and the staff complimented me on my outfit, chatted with me about little creatures and recommended me and my friends a great little bar in Mt Lawley for after our function!
The band they had as well, Retrofit I believe they were called was great. Good to dance to, some well known sing along classics etc.
I've already booked my upcoming birthday party here! The functions team really knows what they're doing, as does whoever owns this place.
Good job guys! Amazing little bar! Nice to know that there are still places in Perth to go for a good time!
Ticks all the Boxes. Rocked up around 9pm on Thursday night.
Great vibe with diners, drinkers and a band starting up.
The food was excellent, I ordered a steak and besides being affordable it was damn good. Nice to see that they've actually hired a talented chef.
The band started up, we had a few excellent cocktails (try the smoking aces) made by Jason who apparently was bartender of the year for the last three years in WA?
Great vibe in this little place, will certainly be back again!
I hope the management reads this, I want them to know what a good job they're doing with this place.
Fabulous Function Centre. Currently attending a quiz day organised by a client! Service is friendly, the cocktails are amazing and the food is fabulous!
If you haven't been to this little gem you're missing out.
Live music on the weekends, Sunday is the best night with a great crowd and tasty cocktails.
Ask for Brett as he is apparently one of the best bartenders in the state, he makes a hell of a mojito anyways!
Big servings for under $20. food is a little above average
Great place for a meal and live music. Dropped in on a Thursday night out to grab a bite to eat. Plenty of tables or booths down the back of the venue keeping you a safe distance from the bar and band. The band can get a little loud so definitely not a place if you want to talk over your meal.
Menu is simple, yet covers all the basics. Steak, chicken, salads and burgers. We ordered the chicken special of the day, Cajun chicken gumbo and a beef curry. Drinks were promptly delivered with the meals soon after. Both meals came out piping hot, fresh and well presented. Both had excellent flavour in a decent portion size.
Would go back again for some live music and an enjoyable meal.
Was quite impressed, there was actually a couple of options for vegetarians, and they were all under $20. There was a veggie pizza or a stuffed capscium for $19 and bruschetta for $14 (is this actually a main?). The usual sides too (garlic bread, fries and wedges $9) as well as some mushrooms for $6. The stuffed capscium didn't really strike my fancy so I went for the pizza. It was nice not to have the decision made for me and to actually
