The best pork belly I have tasted in a very long time.. The service by the columbian waitress was amazing..I will be back to try the rest of the menu.
Had some decent beers here with some work colleagues. Service was generally friendly and the place seemed fairly decent and clean. Would be interesting to try the food given other reviews.
Great food for a local pub and prices are reasonable. Quick service as well. Can be quite busy at times especially Friday. Love their squid salad...very fresh and not too oily
Ive been here a few times over the last 3 years and its always been average but since the recent memu change Im happy to report thats changed. Had a delicious lamb cutlet & greek salad special today, also at my table were the steak sandwich, calamari & chicken and mushroom pasta. Everyone loved their meals. Redemption.
Although quite pricey, the food quality and attentive service ensure you get what you pay for. Great atmosphere, highly recommended especially their Angus dish and the seared scallops too.

Everything wasn't perfect with the meal tonight, but the staff asked how it was and when we let them know it wasn't as good as it could've been they sorted the issues out, the manager came out and chatted about how they could have done better, thumbs up that they identified the short commings and I'm sure they will work on these issues moving forward
Better than the ratings here suggest. The girlfriend and I went for a 6pm dinner on weds night and we were both very satisfied and spoke about going back again with friends next time.
We shared the Salmon Tartare and Calamari for entrée, the sizes were fantastic and they both tasted great... even though I do like my calamari a little more crunchy it was cooked very well. For mains I tried the fillet steak and the gf had the duck. My fillet steak was one of the best steaks ive had in a long long time, both the gf and I thought the same after she tried it. The duck was nice also.
Not sure what everyone is banging on about with bad service because the 2 wait staff we had were fantastic, cheery and helpful.
It deserves a higher urban spoon rating!! I was thoroughly impressed with these guys. The food was fantastic and our waitress was brilliant (which is very difficult to find in Perth) I dine out too regularly and due to urbanspoon rating I didn't have high expectations for Black Toms- we loved it. I went with two other guys one who like me loves good food and the other would eat anything lol. But we would all go back. The menu portions are very reasonable.
Tip: don't go on Monday as there seafood stocks are pretty low otherwise brilliant setting very chilled
Dined here tonight and could not fault anything. Service was fantastic food amazing (and heaps of it) and atmosphere was cozy. Will definitely dine here again

Ordered the Goat Cheese Tart with a side of chips and the 'de-constructed' Caesar Salad.
The Tart was delicious and although I enjoyed my Caesar I decided I much prefer a 'constructed' Caesar with a poached egg rather than all ingredients separately presented on a board with a boiled egg. Luckily I didn't order the Smoked Chicken sandwich as first planned, as I noticed the table next door ordered it and the chicken came out in a massive baguette; too much bread and not enough chicken was what I overheard. Apart from that, the other meals coming out looked good.
Cold beer, chilled wine and attentive wait staff made for a pleasant lunch.
I heard they have a new chef so will head back in a couple of weeks and see what's new!
Went here on a scoopon voucher and had a lovely night good food good service couldn't fault it will be back for sure

Better than Jamies!. I love buying Scoopons, How I assess if a place is good or not is if, after our meal we would be happy to go back to that restaurant and pay full price. We visited Black Toms in a party of 6 yesterday evening and we all said we would not hesitate in booking in again. We had 3xDuck which were all moist and very tasty, 1x Scallops with black pudding which were delicious!! and a huge bowl of soup with a very large bread roll with it. After our starters we had the Chicken, Barramundi, Steak, Pork, Salmon and Lamb. Everything was delicious! The chicken had lots of tasty herbs, the steak was cooked perfectly, portions were more than enough and we also ordered a portion of chips and a portion of wedges. These came out in huge bowls! We cannot come up with anything negative about the food at all.
If I had to draw a negative, it would be that we found our waitress to be slightly irritating. But in saying that service was nicely times between courses and we didn't have to remind her of anything.
All in all, an excellent experience!

I went there with my mom and we had such a great evening! I had the apricot chicken and my mom the beef filet! It was very well cooked and nice! I just can recommend it! Thanks for the lovely evening.
Black Tom's Lunch...Super delicious!. Went for a work lunch today (11/06/2014), with a business associate and friend and we both had sensational meals.
I had the barramundi with chat potatoes, chorizo and pesto. The barramundi fillet $36 was fresh, thick and coooked to perfection. I was second guessing my selection when I saw my companion's lamb come out but I could not have been happier. My friend had the lamb (rump) $29.5, and he said it was awesome. Waitress was friendly and attentive and overall we had an excellent experience.
Will go back now as a first option when considering lunch.
PS: Flat whites we had at the end were also excellent.
Black toms is the best they also have the best macarons in the world.
Order the Steak. Had lunch here for the first time in quite a while last week. Moderately sized group of 7 work colleagues for a 1300 sit down. First impressions, nice place, well laid out, friendly staff. Usual Australiana menu fare. Table ordered, entrees, mains and drinks. Entrees were good indeed, the squid was excellent. The mains did take a fair bit of time to come, probably 15 minutes longer than you would expect as reasonable and the waitress did apologise for the length of time it took to serve. Table ordered 3 x fish, 2 x steaks and 2 x duck. Overall summary, steak was excellent, spot on medium rare. Chips ordered as a side were excellent hand cut style. Fish was about average, slightly overcooked but acceptable. Duck, well overcooked and feedback from the duck eaters at the table was not great. Drinks menu was quite good with a decent range of wines and beers to satisfy most tastes. Order the steak here and chips as a side.
Overpriced - Agree. I have been to the Black Tom's a few times.
Food: Pork belly - really nice; Scallop risotto - nice! The scallops were big! Barramundi - melt in my mouth; salmon - ok but not the best I had
Portion: Very small... I was still hungry after meals on both occasions.
Service: Order taking was quick but slow to bring the food out.
Drinks: Expensive. Ordered Bailey with milk and all I could taste was milk in ice - cost $10. Small lemon, lime & bitter around $5.50. I thought it was Perth standard until I went to another place and got the same things for 2/3 of the price.
Setting: Smoker's zone at the front, a nice cosy lounge when you walk in; a row of booths when you go further. In general quite a nice place.
Overall: It is overpriced but I still like the Black Tom's - it has a nice atmosphere and is a good social place for any weekday.
Really great food. Went to Black Toms today (third time I've been there) took two friends with me. We all loved the menu and the choices we made - the prawn dish is the best!! Food has been great each time, but service has sometimes been less than perfect. Seems to be a new person in charge of front of house and has made all the difference, service great and also friendly. Another thing I have noticed with this restaurant, the portion size is very generous, great value for money. Will be back again and am telling my friends about it.
Great meal and wonderful service. Had the eye fillet which was perfectly cooked medium rare and no additional seasoning required. The wine options by the glass were limited and not the best but did not distract from the experience.
Went here for a work Christmas lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, food and friendly service. It did take quite a long time to receive our food though so luckily we weren't in a big hurry
Amazing!. Me and my partner went to black toms last Friday night was a little quiet so not a large amount of atmosphere but was blown away with the price and range of food and drinks! Started with a taste place. What a great idea to get a feel for the menu before having to choose 1 meal! I had to go with the barramundi and WoW i was blown away most amazing fish i have ever had! My wife had the pork belly and the smells are just fantastic! After we shared a chocolate pudding that was accompanied by this amazing popping chocolate. I washed all the down with a matso's ginger beer (only $8!) and a pint of hoegarden. Will be coming back for sure, for the great food and fantastic service.

Reccomended. Been to Black Tom's last week on Wednesday night with my colleagues from work. We've found a perfect place to enjoy a relaxed night and have an absolutely great service.
We started with a tasting plate and some turkish bread, I liked the combination on the plate and the char-grilled mushroom with bluecheese polenta was amazing.
The mains arrived soon after our table was cleared and my chorizo & piquillo pepper risotto was a ripper. Everyone else on the table was really satisfied and that's why I don't understand some of the previous reviews.
Special mention goes to the staff which was friendly and impeccable.
If I have to decide where to go for the next dinner with my colleagues or with my wife.. Black Tom's will definitely be the choice.
Great Night. My wife and I went to Black Toms last Saturday night, She picked it, and i was a little worried after reading the reviews on urban spoon. the place was pretty empty so didnt have a lot of atmosphere as its quite a big place.
Service was very good, had one main waitress, but others came past to assist when required. Started with the Herb Bread which was quite average, too buttery and quite soggy. Wife had a white wine and I had a Matso's Mango Beer, was very happy that it was only $8!!
I had the Beef Fillet on a potato Tortilla which was amazing!! beef cooked very well, and the Potato Tortilla i would have called a Fritata, but was delicious! texture, taste, smokiness was devine! Wife had the fish which she was very happy with!
Over all was very nice, great service, great food! Would go back for sure!
AMAZING!! after receiving a voucher in the mail for black toms I though why not give it a go I was a little skeptical after reading the reviews and thought I was in for a bad night after entering the huge glass door the atmosphere was great a few business people there for after work drinks and families and couples eating. Our waiter (not sure of name, she was pregnant) was amazing she was very attentive all night and couldn't do enough for us. Meals were yum go the tasting plate to share I had the barra for Mains and my partner had the steak all were terrific. Dessert was a bit dissapointing but overall a great experience and I will definitely be back.
Mostly Enjoyable Experience. I'm so surprised that Black Tom's has received such a bad rapport. I visited the wine bar on a busy Friday after work and thoroughly enjoyed it for the most part. The open plan and atmosphere was fantastic. I've heard a lot about bad service in Perth but the staff here were so attentive and personable! The only down side was my steak sandwich- it was a little 'flat'. Lacking a good sauce and also some greens on it would have made it better.
I found it fine. Went there for a work lunch on a friday arvo. I found the service really efficient accommodating when we had to seat and extra 4 people as well as friendly. They have a really nice open layout to the place and an enjoyable vibe. I had the cesar salad which I liked. I would g there again.
Good for after work drinks, Thursday $15 steak nights a winner
Had lunch here and it was great. The chicken parmie was amazing, one of the best around. Juicy steak sandwiches and chunky burgers, even salads if that's your thing. Give it a go if you're out in West Perth.
