Dropped by here after good and drinks in northbridge. I had the fried chicken bites (spicy) and it was delicious! Such a great after drinks snack or snack anytime. Yum.
Freshly fried before you. Love the crispiness of the large fried chicken. I had it spicy and it was perfectly spiced. I compared the chicken to my 1L bottle of water! That’s how BIG it is 😁
Some of the best fried chicken you'll get in Perth! The large fried chicken was seasoned with one little spicy and the other medium spicy, very juicy tender chicken 👍🏼 also had the fried mushrooms which were cooked really well and juicy but slightly over seasoned.
Big portions! Juicy meat! Good seasoning! Large fried chicken is all you need in life and Hotstar serves it so well! However if you do want the spice on it, I would recommend only going up to 'Medium spicy' because their way of making the piece of chicken spicier is by adding more of the same powder the use for 'Little spicy' as opposed to having different spice seasonings at different levels of spice for each option. So if you get the hottest one they offer, it just feels like you're eating powder and 'Medium Spicy' is at a level where the amount of powder doesn't overpower the flavour of the juicy chicken and tastes amazing! That is the only negative thing I have to say about this place. Besides that, Hotstar is definitely underrated and you should definitely give it a go if you love fried chicken!
Been here a few times. It's a good place for a yummy snack. It's fried chicken but tastes more like a schnitzel 🐔🐔 It's a huge size for $8.50. The chicken doesn't really feel like breast meat but still pretty good. I like the different seasoning options - tried seaweed 👌🏻👌🏻
We ordered a meal combo and for $10.90 you get spicy fried chicken, a side which we chose the curly fries, and a soft drink. It's good value and the chicken was nice and crispy and the curly fries were really good.
Freshly fried chicken, the size of your face!!! This was my 1st time having this massive size fried chicken and I thought it was pretty good. Got the extra spicy but it's not that spicy, would definitely go back and try the chicken bites. We went to the store in Northbridge on William Street next to Lucky Chans
If you love food that is abnormally large, requiring two hands to hold it, then you’ll love Hot Star Chicken. Taiwanese XXL chicken, especially a Hot Star branded one, is my favourite street snack and a must every time I visit Taiwan. Starting as a small counter at Shilin Night Market, the Hot Star franchise has now made its way to Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and more recently Australia. In Taiwan, every second person walking through the night market will be holding one (or two) of these!
Very happy to see this brand in Perth. The chicken wings were great! Crispy, juicy and marinated! The mushrooms were great too but the flour was slightly soggy.
For a quick lunch today I had the Super Bites Combo with chicken bites (a little spicy) plus curly fries with ranch dressing. The chicken was nice and juicy and crunchy and just the right amount spicy for my palate. It was some of the nicest take away chicken I've had. The curly fries were crunchy and perfectly cooked, not too greasy with the right amount of seasoning them. The ranch dressing goes great with the chips.
There's no sitting space so it's good if you want to grab some quick nibbles on your way past. (Dale)
Went to Hot Star for lunch on a Friday. Probably my third time ever to try the famous large Taiwanese fried chicken. Ordered two large fried chickens (spicy and extra spicy).
From ordering to receiving the food took about 10mins but the good thing about this place was that it was made to order (not fried in advance). In the kitchen you can see them take the battered chicken out and fry away once they're ordered.
They weren't kidding when they said the chicken is large...the thing is huge. It was tasty, fresh and to my absolute surprise it wasn't as greasy as I had imagined it to be (this is a good thing).
I preferred extra spicy over spicy as they put chili powders on both sides of the chicken.
Overall, it was decently priced, very filling and enjoyable. Definitely will be coming back for more.
best fried chicken for its price, with decent sized pieces too. grab the sets if you want sides like drinks - its cheaper that way. the location may seem out of the way, but its convenience for me on my way home from work, when i need a quick bite. my only complain is you incur a 50 cents surcharge if using etfpos or paypass for less than $15
(update) it looks like there is no longer a surcharge for totals of less than $15.

Only a two minute walk from our place, and its fantastic for some Taiwanese street food. The XL chicken is great and I prefer it with the curry and mild spice flavour. My favourite is the mushrooms though.
Absolutely great chicken. Mushroom sides are one of a kind.
If you want to get chicken with sides, make sure to get the set rather than order them separately because it will be cheaper and you get a drink on top.
The curly fries are awesome. Cheap food. Something different from other fast-food joints. Not expensive either.
The best goddamn fried chicken i have ever had, i cannpt believe i have only tried it this year. OMFG yall have to try this fried chicken man.
Really tasty. We don't have this in the UK, and I really enjoyed it. I preferred the smaller pieces as the large one had lots of skin and bone to negotiate.

I noticed today this place is no longer there and it breaks my heart. Was the best fried chicken in Perth and this gem was unappreciated and will be missed.
It has extremely good fried chicken that I almost ate for a straight week but it's a little expensive
