Review King Street Cafe - Perth

Embrace the divine flavours of Mauritius! If you're in the Perth CBD for lunch this is my favourite go to providing great value for money! The food is quality and delicious, loaded with flavoursome spices. Mains are generally $14 for a substantial and deliscious plate like lamb curry, chicken kalia, or Mauritian style fried rice or noodles. Try them all! If your after something cheaper but just as deliscious, then grab a roti (equivalent of a wrap) on the go! The breakfast roti and coffee come come in at $8.50! Not only is the food quality, but you get genuine friendly attention and service from the crew too. Enjoy, highly recommended!

I was super excited to try their roti wraps which I've heard so much about. Unfortunately the wraps were not as flavoursome as I imagined. The lamb wrap was better tasting than the chicken. However the price point ($9-$9.50) is decent for a CBD meal.

Always consistently flavoursome food. Staff are very friendly and attentive. All round great atmosphere. Would be here most days if I lived here, but unfortunately I live in Melbourne. But always a pleasure to stop here when in Perth, and a great reason to visit. Keep the excellent work up. Well done

Delicious food and amazing coffee!!!! Staff super friendly and helpful, explaining all the authentic dishes from Mauritius. I was also impressed by the coffee... among the best i have tried in Perth! Hidden jem and definitely recommend it!

Office group went there a few months ago and enjoyed the lunch there. They do all sorts of amazing food there. Loved their salads, which the chef made himself for us. Nice place, still very new and not suitable for large groups.

Wow, if you want amazing and mouthwatering flavors from your food, then this is the place to go. The restaurant is very small but so clean and neat and the staff are very attentive. This Mauritian cafe is a mix of Indian and Chinese . The food presentation is wonderful with many colors and tastes. The meals were made fresh and took a bit longer than standard restaurants but this is because the Chefs are making it fresh and from scratch. It is so worth it..The noodle dish was out of this world amazing, soft, tasty and lots of flavor, just enough meats and vegetables and a side of a green hot sauce and a side dish of a clear sweet vinegar is provided with the dish. The food was fresh and hot. Mix the sauces in as you will enjoy the new spice it brings to the food. I also ordered the lamb curry. The meat was in small cubes and had so much flavor, with a balance of spices that you don't often taste at other places, a hint of sweetness, and an amazing balance of savory. Then came the deserts, all made in house. Try them all as you won't be dissapointed, pure decadence, but maybe not at 1 sitting.... Once you visit you will want to return. Very much a family friendly atmosphere and hip place to eat. Great location. Only negative is there is no restrooms/ bathrooms inside but in nearby building and very clean and modern. These photos are of the chicken and prawn curry and their signature fried noodle dish

Great little café.
What I love about this café - and what makes it stand out from competition- is that the food (the mains for sure / I haven't tried the pastry so can't comment on these) is fresh and cooked from scratch.

Unsurprisingly this leads to a very palatable and enjoyable experience.

Also they cook chicken (all meat for that matter) to perfection . Not too cooked that it's dry but cooked enough that it comes off the bone.

Definitely worth the slightly higher waiting time because this only translates into extra taste.

Very reasonably priced too.
3.6 rating!
we had catered food from King Street Cafe,
dhall puri , gateaux piments, biryani, octopus curry , banana tarts, custard tarts , alooda pillay certainly hits a spot. The only feedback was that biryani was quite salty.

would love to dine here soon

Love this place, friendly service and delicious chicken roti. It’s nice and spicy when you opt for the chilli. Their little pastries filled with banana are so good too. Best place I’ve found for lunch in the cbd so far.

Just updating my review to what I wrote above. Knocked a point off.long wait, undercooked roti and price has gone up. Might give a miss from now on.
