Review Thali - Perth

friendly staff, and decent selection. food quality can be pretty inconsistent, but when its good, it really is good. i normally go for their large combo. for 12.50, you get a selection of 3 different curries with yellow rice, a naan, and a papadum. (update) as of 2018, they have increased their large combo price to 14.50. at that price, don't reckon its a good deal any longer.

Great taste, fair prices and friendly service. Between the two of us, we had a masala dosa, a puri bhaji and a mango lassi. Everything was very tasty and nicely presented. Will visit again, whenever we go to the city.

Quick service and good tasty food. Unlike usual food court Indian places, the curry's are actually very tasty and quite different from each other. I had a large combo with Butter chicken, Fish Amritsari and Lamb masala, with roti and rice. It was very satisfying quantity wise and good taste wise. Only slight criticism is that the Butter chicken was a little bit too sweet. But that also worked well with the slightly spicier than usual lamb and fish. Edit: Visited the place again to try Chole Battura. It was okay. I think the Battura was pre-made and the chole was quite spicy, giving an achari taste.

My favourite place in the city to eat on my work break. I spent a chunk of time living in India and get so excited when I find a place where the food tastes authentic and high quality!! I eat here often and have NEVER had a bad dish. The curry selection is always amazing but If you have a few minutes to wait they will cook you up a real authentic treat like a chole bhature with pickled onions and it is DIVINE!!!!

It was around 430pm the food was probably in the food warmers for well over an hour so it was shredded meat sloppy and terrible . I've had sloppy shredded meat before but this was truly terrible

I was brought up on Curry and enjoy a Ruby Murray for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could - I know a good curry when I taste one ! Thali Contemporary Indian serve a very tasty smorgasbord of dishes, suitable for the vegetarian or the meat lover. The food is excellent, the variety of meats are all quality cuts, the vegetables are tasty and fresh. I have absolutely no quarms introducing friends and colleagues to Thali Contemporary Indian, as I have done many times before.

Well, what a pleasant surprise. Not only was the curry amongst the very best I have ever had from a food hall, it was restaurant quality! I had the small curry plate, with the goat curry and chicken curry. The food was full of flavour and it was obvious that care had been taken to remain authentic. Full pods of star anise to suck on, tender meat on the bone, my goodness my tongue was dancing! Compliments to the chef! 😋😋😋

I've been catering & dining in & ordering take away from Thali for a few years now. The quality is exceptional, customer service top notch and the variety of indian food offered is the BEST in Perth. Both the veg & meat dishes are DELICIOUS. I'm constantly amazed at some of the veg dishes offered - innovative and tasty! Highly recommend checking this out!

Delicious Indian food by the new owner. Recently went for lunch, tried the Goan fish curry and Tindora (french beans) south Indian sytle. I then asked if they cater and they sure do! I catered for ~20 people and can testify the food was as good a la carte as they are catered.
Very happy with the quality of food and impeccable service received. Will definitely be back!

Delicious veg and non veg options! Staff make sure the naan bread is always fresh and I love the biryani with the different gravies and also the butter chicken! I eat here 3 times a week as it's close to my work and very reasonably priced too

The service in this place was just appalling. I can't imagine how in this day and age, they can have different rules for different people. A mate of mine who happens to be white went there to get his phone stamped for his food and 2 other friends who didn't have the app installed and the lady serving him allowed it. I tried to do the same and she said no. Wow....in this day and age, double standards is just not acceptable.

The food was also bad. the rice has been constantly under cooked and the dishes are sometimes way too salty. Will not recommend this place to anyone.

I will not be visiting this place ever again.

Very disappointed and disgusted and will put me off forever! I thought i should try something different and to my dismay i really did by getting raw chicken on my butter chicken. Queue up patiently and this is what i got...took it back to the lady that served me,no appologies no nothing! What a great way to food poison customers huh?!😠😤

"Thali Ache". More like belly ache.
I was very disappointed with my lunch today.
I ordered the large combo of Butter Chicken, Lamb Rogan Josh, Goan Fish Curry.
The Butter Chicken was dry...
The Lamb was like chewing and old sock...
The Fish didnt resemble fish or taste much like it either I guess the spices were added to camoflage the (fish).

its says something when the pappadom was the best thing on the plate.
that is another crossed of my list.

A weekly destination. I have been frequenting Thali Contemporary Indian after Curry Mnchers at One40william (owned by the same people) closed (due to the closure of the food court). Same tasty, perfectly seasoned and spiced food, same low prices. I eat here at least weekly and never tire of the wonderful flavours of the Butter Chicken and Goan Fish Curry. I almost always order a garlic naan for $1.50 extra on top of a large combination ($11.00) as not only do you get a whole naan instead of half of one, but you are guaranteed freshness as it is made to order. Other curries worth mentioning are the Chicken Vindaloo and Lamb Korma. Finally, kudos to the kind staff for running a slick operation with a smile.

Went to the Thali ( the contemporary Indian cuisine) in the city food court yesterday with my friends to have some lunch. We were 4 friends andy two friends gave a order for Samosa plate and after that we got two plates samosas. It was looking very nice. while I was eating, I felt something hard in mouth and when I took it out that was a piece of chewed plastic. I don't know how it came in the food. I went to the girl who was on the till and I showed her that piece. She took that piece from my hand and rushed straight to the kitchen. When she came out and she said," its by mistake." I said ok. So now here the point is that it is a hospitality industry and we should know how to deal with the customer. I wasn't ascept for another plate or even any refund. The big thing was she didn't say sorry at all. That was absolutely disrespect or even terrible. I always like to eat there and I always eat there twice a week. I'm still wondering that she didn't feel sorry or any other reply from the chefs.. Yuck.... I'm working as a chef in a German restaurant and I know it's happen in the kitchen sometimes by mistake. If any customer found something in their meal, we change the food straight away and here " get another plate of Samosa was so far, I didn't hear a word SORRY from her mouth even a single time." omg what a moment that was.. I'm living a little far from the city and whenever I go to the city, Thali is my first place to eat. But now I'll think twice to eat there. No More Thali ( The Contemporary Indian).

Impressed. For a food court restaurant this place is actually quite good. The lamb curry had a lovely flavour and the meat was very tender. The goan fish curry was awesome - the fish tasted quite fresh and the sauce was so creamy!

The servings are quite generous too. Highly recommend for a quick take-away lunch.

Goan Fish Curry!!. OMGosh... Seriously YUMMY!! Always order this especially if you are a fish LOVER.. It is so good, you won't regret it. If you don't like creamy, this is not for you. and This is SLIGHTY spicy.. But worth it! :D

An Average Food Court Indian.. First up, I know Indian food, and I wasn't expecting an elite experience in a food court. What I got was what I expected, a filling dish for only $10.

I ordered the Large Combination. My selections were Chicken Vindaloo, Butter Chicken and Lamb Korma. I would have liked some beef dishes but nothing appealed. The dine in tray is smaller than the standard food court plastic tray it sits on with 3 small round indents across the top for the curries and a large rectangle for the rice, which was most of the dish.

The spice was the same across all 3 dishes, what I would call medium hot. I wondered if they just had a pre-mixed chili powder blend that went in all curries, and worked on the theory that most people think a hot dish is an Indian dish.

The chicken vindaloo, lacked the proper sourness that comes from marinating overnight for a vindaloo. I felt the colour was more from Tandoori pastes than Kashmiri chili.

The Lamb Korma just reminded me of a thick roast lamb gravy with chili in it. I think I counted 3 pieces of meat.

The Butter Chicken had good flavour though, was very nice, but just seemed to be the same spiciness as everything else, and again not enough of it.

With the rice and the roti bread, this filled me, but I was disappointed with the amount of the curries.

The papadums were so thin as to be almost useless to eat the curry with.

All up for $10 it is a filling feed and will satisfy most peoples desire for "spice". But I won't revisit it.

Delicious authentic Indian food at excellent prices. Try the butter chicken which is a standout. For me, the best Indian food I’ve had so far.
