This is the cutest cafe with the friendliest service. I just love the vintage vibes of this cafe and the food is consistently good. And they always have a lovely selection of cakes and pastries. #petersham #pigandpastry
Grabbed a sausage roll as a takeaway item. Absolutely amazing. One of the best sausage rolls I have ever eaten. Good as a snack but not enough to satisfy hunger. I would have bought several except the price was so expensive I couldn't. I have driven past many times since and had to wait for the desire to fade as I can't justify paying $32 for four sausage rolls - because my daughter and I would need at least two to qualify as lunch.
I had eggs Benedict half ham and half salmon, a bread topped with a poached egg, salmon and ham, and hollandaise sauce. When you eat them together you can feel they melt in your mouth which is finger-licking good! Coffee in a cone is my favorite , bitter and sweet, I love it!🎉 Good service, they always come and ask you if you need anything more.👍
One of my favourite brunch places! Food is always delicious, staff are friendly and also a nice view from the cafe! I would recommend this place for brunch! Pancakes are a must and if you’re wanting something on the healthier side, id recommend the falafel salad!!
Great service. Came here on a Sunday Morning, expecting it to be extreme melt busy, but wasn’t that bad. Service was friendly and quick. Really enjoyed their food. Will be back soon.

Can never go past the pancakes at The Pig & Pastry. Love them. The toasted almonds make a regular banana/maple mix even more delicious.
Great coffee and a good bacon and egg roll to be had here too!
Definitely a reason it’s always hard to get a table on the weekend.
Lovely service, a good length menu and really delicious food. Perfectly cooked bacon and the award winning bread lived up to the hype. Will definitely be back.
Great corner cafe! Relaxed and good portions. My corn fritters and iced chocolate were delicious.
Staff could have been friendlier but it did look quite busy.
For a quick bite and delicious coffee, The Pig & Pastry in Petersham is your one stop cafe! With friendly staff and flaky pastry goodness, the food here will make your mouth water. You definitely can’t leave without trying their scrumptious range of rolls and quiches!
Great quiet, leafy spot next to the park. You’d never know that you were 200m from Parramatta Road.
Really good coffee and probably the best bacon and egg roll I’ve ever had. Soft bun, crispy bacon and perfectly cooked egg with delicious home made ketchup.
A lovely cafe with a friendly neighbourhood vibe. We arrived right before the lunch crowd, so we managed to snag a table without having to queue. Wanting something light, I ordered the mushroom and egg roll while my friend had the avocado and tomato on toast. My roll was simple but well-executed - a single large, juicy field mushroom and a runny poached egg (usually served fried) sandwiched in a soft brioche bun. My friend struggled to finish her avocado toast which was accompanied by an extra order of crisp bacon. We couldn't leave without trying a treat from their famous pastry counter. We ended up with the Portugese egg tart and the flourless lemon cake. I loved the moist lemon cake, studded with lemon peel and topped with a crown of lemon curd. I'm keen to try their sandwiches next time as I've heard good things.
Sheltered away from the hussle and bustle of Parramatta road right next door this little cafe knows what they are doing. Once walking through the beautiful wooden window doors you are in a haven of delicious food and pure comfort. Whether your just picking up a take away coffee and pastry or sitting down to a beautiful meal you will be satisfied. But be warned on the weekends this place is so popular you will need to wait for an available seat, but of those in the inner west we know if you don't have to wait it isn't worth it. I recommend the Hash Browns and Poached Eggs for brekkie; simple ingredients put together in a mouth watering way!
Good service and cute little cafe. Sitting outside is definitely an option if the weather is good with a nice view of the park. Plenty of cafe options at a fair price.
Sat at the window with a friend, the service was a little clunky, but overall it was a nice brunch option. Lovely coffee, and I had the Avocado Toast which was also nice. Will be back to try some of the other dishes :)
Delicious EVERYTHING!! The puff pastry on everything is the PUFFIEST EVER! Great coffee, breakfast, sandwiches, cakes, donuts....as I said EVERYTHING!
Lovely neighbourhood cafe with friendly staff and great food. I would highly recommend the quiche of the day, hotcakes, corn fritters and PASTRIES from their cabinet!
This is a cute / kitsch cafe in Petersham near the park with little tables outside and inside. It is styled in a mix of modern vintage and your grandmas dining room, wood furniture, ceramic cups and saucers. As the name suggests, heaps of options have ham or bacon and there are heaps of pastries like meringues, cookies, cakes and quiche. Today I got a parmesan, tomato and bacon quiche which was absolutely delicious, buttery pastry and a melting mixture inside with the cheese. It was great. Came with a side of lettuce and mustard on the iceberg. Nice place to have lunch.
Cute corner cafe with really lovely service. Does get quite busy so come early!! We got the pancakes and the corn fritters. Both were outstanding but a bit expensive and small in terms of the quantity
A lovely place to have to have breakfast. It is located just off Parramatta Road and has both nice seating indoors with traditional seating and bar type seating next to the windows as well as a few tables outside too. They even have some dog bowls outside with water so even your pooch can come with you too.
The service was warm and hospitable. Immediately served as I walked in, I perched myself near the window. At this cafe, they pride themselves on making their own bread and baked goods. I went for a Bacon & Free Range Egg Roll as well as a Freshly Squeezed Apple Juice. The roll was soft and very delicious. There was crisp bacon and a nicely fried egg. A nice tangy BBQ sauce too. Juice was a nice granny smith apple. I also got a Lemon Brûlée Tart to takeaway. The tart base was very short and the filling was nice and tangy.
First time here on the weekend. They were flat out, and there was a small wait for a table as they did their best to seat us quickly and communicate with us. Coffee and food were good and had that something different about it to give it that uniqueness. The pastries that we decided to take away for later were absolutely delicious. I would go back for more pastries for sure!
Living on the same street as this cafe means endless morning coffee. They make the best coffee in petersham and steam the milk perfectly everytime. However, they lack in the catering for vegans meaning we cant indulge in there well know fresh hot cross buns and pastry specials
As soon as you enter, friendly staff are quick to greet you and direct you to a table. After tossing up between a few dishes, we make our decision and the staff were quick to pick up and came on over. It was great to see everyone here working like they actually enjoy it and being efficient at the same time.
The fish cakes seem to have undergone a slight adjustment recently, however a few weeks ago they were served with a snow pea, radish & bean sprout salad with orange, sesame & soy dressing. I found the soft, warm fish cakes to go perfectly with the crunch of the salad and light dressing. It was a nicely put together dish and I’m interested to see how this new combo of coleslaw and chilli jam would taste. There was a slight mishap but the staff dealt with it immediately. While I was eating I found a small bug in the salad, and once it was brought to the staff’s attention, they took it away and brought me out a brand new dish asap. They even apologised til the very end when we went to pay. One thing though, the second dish actually had small pieces of orange in the salad whilst the first one didn’t. So wasn’t sure if it was meant to be included or not. I suppose it doesn’t really matter now anyway as there’s sure to be no oranges in sight with the coleslaw! The burger was pretty standard – not overly heavy, and had fresh ingredients. The chips were a little different though, tasted more potato-ey and less greasy, if that makes any sense.
I love how this café looks. Truly gives off a great vibe and the blue & white exterior is just so pretty. Pet friendly too, there was a happy lab sitting outside when we walked in.
Great relaxed service. Cute setting with a refreshing change of real plants on teach table. Tasty food including perfectly poached eggs & good coffee... Will be back.
Some quality food on display at this joint. Burger was a highlight. Tasty well seasoned patty with a magic combo of pickles and sauce. Great chewy, sweet, heated brioche. One of the best around. Also tried the tasty pumpkin tart.
Another mention is the quality of service. There was a mishap with the ordering and we were left waiting 45mins for out food but the staff handled it brilliantly. Well enough to still rate this joint as highly.

Love this cute little cafe opposite Petersham park. It caters for groups & families with kids. There is a small menu of clean, healthy dishes to choose from & a cabinet full of baked goodies made in house. I love special occasions like Easter & ANZAC day as these are treats you can only get around this time. Otherwise the donuts, beetroot chocolate or carrot cakes are all amazing. Great coffees too & always service with a smile.
Came here a while ago and had the crispy duck sweet corn pancakes ($17.50) and the pig and pastry beef burger ($15.50). In our opinion, the meals weren't anything amazing however, the presentation of the meals and the interior were quite lovely. They also have a great selection of desserts at the counter, so be sure to check them out!
Love this place. Banana pancakes were delicious and filling.
I want to go back to try the rest of their menu and their coffee :)
Great little cafe oozing style and grace and with the menu to back it up. The beef burger was juicy with generous lashings of tasty sauce and the triple cooked home made chips the perfect side.
The barista served his coffee to the table and the other staff were efficient as well.
This place was Introduced by one of the food bloggers and such a great place for a good brunch.
Busy but cosy. Girls morning. Ordered breakfast and coffee, all are very high quality.
I like the pancake, fluffy and sweet, also the egg Benedict, it's actually on a slices of muffin bread! Love it! (I don't like those hard bread be honest...)
Coffee was decent but on the bitter side.
It just right next to the petersham park and close to parramatta road.
My friend and I went to the Pig & Pastry for breakfast and I'm very impressed. We ordered the Hash Browns and Poached Eggs and the Sweet Corn Fritters with coffees. Couldn't find anything to critic about and the staff were polite and friendly.
•I was working in the area for awhile and this was the closest cafe around
•First time we went there it was quite busy on the weekend, make sure you get there early!
•The food we had was great, we normally do takeaway, bacon & egg roll - was slightly on the smaller side for what you pay for it, but the special sauce they use just makes it perfect
•Milkshakes are to die for as well
•They have a large selection of cakes and muffins, the one in the photo I have is the infamous carrot cake! A tasty delight!
•Trendy cafe with friendly staff, great for weekend brunch with the family and friends, outdoor seating available too
Nice decor right opposite the park. Had the chicken schnitzel and was quite tasty, but the beef burger was average. More lunch options would be nice. Overall, nice place to sit, chill, chat and relax with friends
The specials each day are amazing - there are usually two kinds each of salad ($7.50), quiche and sandwiches ($8.50). In winter there is a soup special each day as well.
I go here nearly every week just for the changing salad specials. The sourdough used on the sandwiches is to die for!
I love this place, such a little gem in the inner west and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We've been back here a few times already - the menu is always changing which is great. So far we've had amazing pancakes, risottos and fish cakes. Delicious! Will be back again soon.
On my way to brunch I thought I'd stop for a pre-brunch snack lol
Pig and Pastry is a gorgeous local corner cafe that's very rustic vintage feel. It oozes prettiness and Instagramness... (I just made that word up)...
There was a wait for tables - not that I was staying, but it didn't look too long.
I ordered a take away coffee and couldn't resist a chocolate donut from the window.
The baristas are cute and fun and and the whole vibe is great.
I loved the coffee and the donut was ok. It tasted very much like an Italian fried dough "zippole" with choc icing. Not super sweet - more of a bitter choc icing. Lovely and light, I must come back for brekky...

I really loved this place.. Great vibe, great food and service!
I had scrambled eggs w/homemade toast and tomato chutney, crispy streaky bacon, roasted tomatoes and mushrooms, and it was delicious! The juice of the day was really yummy as well betroot, Apple, carrot and ginger.. It hit the spot!
All in all I can say that I really enjoyed my lazy Saturday morning at this cafe and I am glad I stopped to check it out.. I will definitely be going back!
I don't know what bacon they use, but it's amazing and smoked!! You've got to try their bacon and egg, it's sounds so simple but they've nailed it!
I came here for a light brunch with a friend and was very satisfied. I had the daily quiche special which was delicious. The pastry was amazing. I also had a lovely strawberry milkshake.
This place has a really relaxed vibe with a great menu. Had the duck which came out quick and was pretty good, though not the best I've had. Nice place to go for Sunday brunch
I have always wanted to visit this place having heard some good reviews about their delicious food and baked goods. As I was planning to catch up with Ms. GO, we finally decided to visit this cute vintage cafe and tried their lunch menu (it's served from midday). Located on a quiet corner across the road from Petersham Park, the couple behind this white vintage cafe, Iain and Katherine Smart, baked all the cakes, cookies and tarts daily in-house while their coffee is by The Little Marionette.
Always a pleasure coming here. Consistently great food and service. This cosy cafe is located just off parramatta rd with a nice menu option for both breakfast and lunch. Before you leave you must try the Nutella and cookie crumb donut- even if you're full!
I love this place!
The staff and lovely and very accommodating and the food is well priced and delicious.
Great atmosphere at this little cafe!
Also, they serve delicious Gabriel coffee :)
Delicious and fresh food experience. Lovely indoor and outdoor seating. You must try the gingerbread milkshake. Good coffee. Relaxed atmosphere.
Great little cafe with a nice buzzy atmosphere. Staff were super friendly. They have a cabinet with a a great little selection of salads as well as sweets. We tried the burger which was juicy and tasty with warm soft milk bun. Their daily salads was a generous portion for the mere $6 I was charged, a beautiful roasted cauliflower salad w crispy bacon bits and raisins. Only disappointment was the slightly bland iced chocolate. I'll be back though
This corner cafe is just off the main road of Parramatta road, I’ve driven past many times and each time I would make a mental note to stop by the next time I’m in the area. The Pig & Pastry, Petersham, is a beautifully decorated family friendly cafe. Definitely popular amongst the locals and be prepared to wait if you’re there with a group.
Great little cafe, prefer the brekkie menu over the lunch menu. Corn fritters are to die for and the bacon is always nice and crispy! Definitely worth a visit!
I always have great service, food and coffee at Pig and Pastry. It gets busy on the weekends so be prepared for a slight wait if you're going in peak times. The sweet corn fritters are my favourite item on the menu.
Our new favourite place - great food, good coffee, outstanding service, warm decor and vibe, beautiful setting with park opposite, oh and very kid friendly too. Can't recommend enough!
Just Wonderful! Lovely place - great food, service and ambience.. Love this place - easily in my Top 5 in Sydney. The menu is nice and compact and packs a great punch. Bread here is delicious and sets such a great foundation for the dishes. You can tell they only use the best produce. Also the service is consistently brilliant. Highly Recommended!
Crispy Duck and Sweet Corn Pancakes. Lots of coriander in the dish but was good. Love coriander!
Pig & Pastry is my new local. Thats right! Less than 5 minutes walk away from my new house, this little coffee shop has seen me makeup-free and pajama clad, dolled up in my brunch best and will probably see me in my evening best on the rare nights they are open for dinner. This little cafe is renown in the Leichhardt/ Petersham area for its incredible bread, beautiful food and fresh sodas.
The sausage roll had good quality pork and was seasoned nicely with herbs and spices. For an after lunch sweet, we ordered the apple and frangipani tatin and an apple flan with homemade vanilla ice-cream. I thought the apple and frangipani tatin was competently done, but a tad too sweet! Perhaps cream or ice-cream was needed to balance it out, but even so, it w
I've always had a bit of a chuckle whenever I drive by this cafe. 6months has gone by and I've finally decided to give it ago and it looks like I've picked the right day. It was their one year anniversary :)
lovely combination of flavours and textures...hard crispy bacon...desirable resistance with every bite...mild saltiness...crunchy bits...were generous
Visited The Pig & Pastry over two weekends... and I hereby pronounce it my new favorite cafe. It was bustling with activity on both occasions; always a good sign don't you think? There were ample parking spaces around. Decorations were quite rustic and lent the airy place a rather homely feel. On our first visit, the hubby went for the scrambled eggs with smoked streaky bacon, roast tomato and field mushrooms on toasted sourdough. He loved everything about the dish, heaping praises especially on the amazingly crispy and flavorsome bacon! I tasted some and had to agree. My breakfast pot was the perfect sweet start to the day; delicious pairing of slightly tart Bircher with crunchy and nutty granola. There could have been more fruits though... But the star of the day? Definitely their crazily amazing carrot cake! It was enticingly moist, sweet and hit all the spots! The frosting was the right consistency as well, and both that and its sweet flavors were further emphasized by the tart rhu
Being on a corner block, the cafe has loads of space for diners, both inside and out. Inside it’s light and airy with pot of small plants on each table and a display of bright fresh flowers for those looking to buy a bunch to take home.

We were lucky to get seats along the bench as soon as we arrived since it was just the two of us. Salted caramel milkshake $6.50 Coffee by Little Marionette - Piccolo $3 The milkshake looked divine but it didn’t taste as good as we had hoped. It was quite light in flavour and not terribly sweet but it was the salted foam which made us frown. Though we didn’t want to make a fuss and send it back - will be back to try other flavours. Sweet corn fritters w/ poached egg, crispy bacon & avocado salsa $17 It was a great morning despite the milkshake! I don’t usually like my bacon too crispy but this was so delicious, just c

There's a lovely old-fashioned feel to the display cabinet here, heaving with housemade sweets presented on mismatched vintage crockery. It's like you've just stumbled into a Country Women's Association fete. We spend several minutes with our noses pressed up against the glass trying to make a decision.
Many of it’s herbs and veggies served on the menu is from their kitchen garden. What not to love about this little cafe? I’ve got lots to say about this super awesome iced Chai...
Great food, great service. Crispy, American style bacon is a neat difference. Coffee was spot on too. Was seated immediately on a Sunday morning.
Local Yocal. I love this place! The staff are really professional and friendly. The donuts are DEVINE! The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming. I've NEVER had a coffee OR a donut from here that disappointed. Excellent for my mouth, very difficult on my pants! SIGH!
Great coffee tasty food friendly service, reasonable price. Recommended and will definitely be back!
Lovely food & coffee. Great friendly service :)
Busy but efficient and tasty. The pancakes are good - the chai latte was too spiced for my liking
interior is really nice, so are waitstaff
New fave!. This place is great.
Went on Sunday for lunch. It was busy but there was still space to sit and the big communal table. Staff were so attentive, a real surprise given the time of day and number of other patrons.
Food was delish. I had the pork and fennel sausage roll (tasty, chunky sausage filling and to-die-for pastry) and a really interesting eggplant salad - not 100% sure what was in it but it was GOOD.
Lots of lovely little touches with the decor, serviceware, etc. Place kept really clean but had a really nice, homely feel at the same time.
One small criticism: they've fallen into the most recent Inner West wankerism trap of only serving organic cola, so I couldn't have a diet coke (before everyone arks up, this is just my preference, I don't like the texture of sugary drinks. I already knew this wasn't a diet meal when I ordered the sausage roll). Nice, flavoured water made up for this.
Today I had another fabulous lunch at pig and pastry. I've been going there since about July last year and it is simply my favorite cafe in the inner west. Beautiful fresh delicious food and an amazing pastry chef. Today's custard tart was simply the best. I don't write reviews often but this local, friendly cafe with fabulous food deserves praise. I really hope p and p stays around for the long haul
Response to Peter. A short reply to 'Peter' following your review of The Pig & Pastry on 16 February. I would like to clarify that this is not what actually happened as described by Peter. It was a busy Sunday at the cafe and we had a number of people waiting for tables. Peter and his partner walked into the cafe and sat themselves at a dirty table. Our waitress kindly informed the gentlemen that the dirty table they had just sat themselves on was for a group of 4 people who were waiting for the table, and offered them a clean table for two. This was after the waitress had asked them if they were waiting on more people, which they were not as confirmed by Peter and his partner. Peter quickly snapped back that the table offered was not to their liking and promptly walked out of the cafe.
We do our best to accommodate all customer requests where possible, if you didn't like the table offered to you for some reason we would have found you an alternative had you given the waitress a minute. Instead, you simply walked away and chose to write a scathing review on Urbanspoon. We must have caught you on a bad day Peter because your comments are extremely unfair and simply not true. You should really be more careful with what you say in such a public forum. Comments such as 'waitress nazi' are quite inappropriate and ignorant.
We are not a 'money hungry' cafe with 'crap service' as you kindly define us as. We are a family run, friendly, local cafe offering fabulous service to our lovely customers.
Super nice place in the local area. Nice staff and tasty food.
You must try their carrot cake, it’s amazing!
Consistently great food and coffee in a convenient location. The staff are always really friendly too. Worth noting that if you need an outdoor table, you may have to wait a while for one to open up on weekends. I also wish they stayed open a little later during the day.
One of the best Cafe’s in Sydney! The coffee is by far one of the best I have ever had and there breakfast options are way ahead of a lot of other establishments. The best thing is the service is always great and they make you feel like family instead of a customer.
Excellent cafe in Petersham! Comfy, casual, and chill with an exceptional pumpkin soup!
I love this place. Living locally around stanmore this is one of my favourite cafes. I had a sponge cake and it was divine - freshly baked (none of that refrigerated glad wrapped over many days type cakes some other cafes serve) the meals are good portion and customer service is good.
Nice location for us to stop by on our road trip. The service was good and accommodating. The bircher bowl was great but the pancake left me feeling a bit disappointed. It wasnt as appeared on the menu's photo and it was very dry. It didnt come with enough maple syrup ( extra syrup 1.50 !). Location and ambience are great. Hapoy to still give a 4* based on overall.
One of my favourites. Very cosy cafe with a great brekkie and lunch menu. The truffle specials are delicious (seasonal). The burger and chips are very good too and don't get me started on the pastries! Highly recommend
