Very nice atmosphere. Staff are super friendly and helpful! Variety of foods and drinks (inc vegan options) definitely can accommodate everyone Large screen to watch the footy The pub is dog friendly and children friendly Highly recommended

This place is just perfect! The menu is perfect, drinks perfect, the venue itself is perfect. Pets welcomed and everybody else is welcome too! Smoking area, non smocking area, old fashioned pub on the ground, huge terrace at the back, first floor with a je ne sais quoi style with a pool table and a long length balcony. It’s perfect for any type of party or corporate event. I love to come there and relax with friends.

There is so much to love about this place. Large, mostly sheltered, outdoor space with laid back vibe. A separate Batch brewery 'R&D' area with great beers on tap. Unfortunately the food we had was a big let down. Our group was one of the first to arrive and the place was mostly empty. We waited about 30 mins to get our pizzas, and unfortunately they were very bland. Would still be happy to come back for a few drinks, but probably won't try the food again.

Perfect place to celebrate with a large group of my friends for my birthday. Absolutely love the vibe of the place. The food is good - the sizes of the pizzas are questionable. My friend ordered one which was tiny in comparison to mine.

Public House is a must visit. It's a quick walk from Petersham station and It has everything you want in a venue. A variety of areas, large courtyard, good food offering and delicious local beers. Perfect spot for a birthday or catchup with friends. Highly recommend.

Really great local spot to grab some food and drinks. Love the outdoor courtyard, it’s such a nice vibe and it’s great that it’s dog friendly. Lots of fun events on here and upstairs it has the nicest pool table I’ve ever seen at a pub.

This pub has a great vibe. Very accommodating to families and dogs as well as groups of friends. Good food and friendly service in a very fun and welcoming environment… Having a Batch Brewery in the back is a bonus!

Quality venue this in historical part of Sydney. Awesome staff, fantastic selection of cold beers and ales, superb food. What more do ya want? Also staff allowed me to read some of Johnny Depp's court transcripts and did not call the police. Quality. We will be back.

Cool vibes, cool crowd, cool music and delicious food. What more can you want? Oh and great drinks selection, especially vis a vis the beers! #publichouse #petersham

My family visited this place because we heard it was kid friendly. We came at about 5pm when it was not very busy. We waited one hour for food. When we asked about our order the staff had no idea.
We said we couldn’t wait any longer and Refund was given. Terrible service.

Food was the usual pub food with pizzas and burgers. At least they had a few vegetarian and vegan options.

We got a few pizzas and burger.

Nice outdoor seating areas.

A little disappointing that batch brewery that is opened up. Batch brewery charges $5 for a beer at their main brewery but solitel are charging $8 a glass. Why does solitel have to be sooo expensive. Forces locals to go elsewhere.

Parking on the side. Buzzing pub and the atmosphere is alive. Came on a Friday night. Book a table. Love the drinks here. I rec the 'hard lemonade' and 'le presidente'. Order your food at the bar. Pizza base is authentic Italian. Food is great all round!

My view of this pub which started strong has been diminished by two things, the first is its become decidedly unfriendly and run by a bunch of "too cool for school" kids who have killed the relaxed friendly vibe and secondly the food continues to be derivative dude food and has become so pedestrian it's downright dull. The space is great but the staff really need some change as they are letting the place down. Shame

Woohoo to pub food. Public House does some good grub. I had a few different pizzas and fries and it really hit the spot. Pizza dough was soft and light, fries were golden and crunchy. Great vibe with awesome beats.

Looking for atmosphere? My Newtown classics have been beaten by Public House.

So much to say. We live in a pretty outgoing area of Newtown, but with mates in town we wanted to go somewhere really cool for the Hottest 100 Countdown. We saw promotions for the Public House and thought we would give it a go.

We showed up as the countdown was starting and the set up was awesome. There was music in every single room, local breweries has stations set up, and there were so many options for food.

We found a great picnic table in the back with mist and fans that kept it pretty cool. We started with some of the fresh oven baked pizzas, and starters. All of the food was awesome, and keep us going.

The parking lot was set up with an amazing game. You would rock up to a little pool, they would blind fold you, and you would have to pick a random craft tinny. We never went to the bar once, we kept going back to play the game and try new beers. Some friend of ours tried some special cocktails and all was so great.

As the day continued, we had other options to go visit, but we all agreed we could not leave. We ordered some of the special foods they had going on a promotion menu. We got some popcorn chicken that was my absolute favourite. We also tried the eggplant "meatballs" which were a great veggie option for our vegetarian mate.

This pub has a pet as well. We enjoyed getting to pet Gizmo, the pub cat. So many fun things. We agreed that any pub outing from now on must include the Public House.

EXCELLENT.

I love this family friendly place. Awesome menu and atmosphere. The staff are so nice and really easy going about bookings for parties/larger events.

A cool pub located in Petersham. Head for the courtyard/outside area and grab yourself a table. Grab any of their pizzas and a jug of the little creatures pale ale and settle in for a relaxed menu in cool surrounds.

Not happy. Ordered a Gluten Free Octopus pizza with olives. Was told I need to buy the $8 bowl of olives which is a starter and the chef would put some on the pizza and we would get the rest in the bowl. The chef poured the whole bowl of olives over the pizza and there was hardly any octopus. It was so ridiculous. We counted 14 large olives on 1 peice of pizza. $35 down the drain.

Good food and good service.
This place looks so funky from the outside but had such a homely feel on the inside.
Meals came out relatively quickly and were fairly priced.
Great place to meet with friends and family.
There is parking on the street but it's first in best dressed!
Would definitely recommend this place if you haven't been.

Another hipster enclave of the Inner West. Prices are a bit rorty, small portions but the food quality is tasty. Hard to go past the pigfest / pork platter (which is slowly decreasing in size and increasing in price), the chicken burger (but it could use more pineapple) and the fried chicken pieces dunked in aioli and hot sauce. Also this joint has its own cat; his name is Gizmo.

Public House Petersham has been a nice surprise. I love the ambience here, one section has pinball machines, another a retro 80's room with a ice hockey machine and there is a beer garden and upstairs there is more seating and a outdoor verandah!

Really impressed with there salads, roasted cauli and beets and carrots, both really delicious. Could of just eaten as main portion of these!

My pig fest platter was full of pork and I liked it! The roast pork cracking was a little salty though and the dumplings a little dry but for the most part this highly enjoyable meal will have pork lovers impressed and wanting more

Food came out at a reasonable rate but it was quiet this particular night. Prices a tad higher than expected but these are minor issues that shouldn't stop you from visiting

I ended up having lunch here with a group of craft beer fanatics - and not being a fan of beer full stop or most pub menus have to say I wasn't really looking forward to it. And I loved it! The fish dish of the day was a wonderfully flavoured Oriciette with chorizo, prawns calamari and Parmesan - fresh and perfectly cooked. My friends had pizzas and salads, and all looked great. I'll be back!

Friends ate the pizza and weren't impressed however I had a selection of sides which included roasted cauliflower, root vegetable salad and the squash fritters which were really delicious! Was pleasantly surprised.

Ok, let's get straight to the point. First impression as I walked under the curved laserlight roofing in the beer garden was a cheap reno and very hot. Nowhere for the heat to escape.

Bar staff friendly and attentive.

Nibbles Platter with pork terrine, cheese, etc. with accompanying lettuce and curry flavored pickles? One would expect bread or even crackers with this but only stale homemade bread sticks were on the plate. We asked for a plain pizza as there was no bread, the waiter was more than pleased to organize.

My ‘Feeling Hot Hot Hot’ *very hot* made with nduja salami, zucchini pizza was just that and tasty. The pizzas were made by a young man from Calabria in a wood fired oven. I watched the way he made them with such passion, craftsman like and had a chat about this Nuduja salami from his homeland after my meal.

Needs a bit of tweaking.

I've been pretty underwhelmed by pub food lately, but the dishes at Public House in Petersham have bucked the trend. The former Newington Inn on Stanmore Road, it has undergone a complete revamp of look, feel and menu. While the entrees or share plates looked really good (like goat cheese croquettes or summer squash fritters) we skipped them for mains and side dishes. The grilled lamb chop with smoked chickpea hummus, flame-grilled peppers and eggplant, was a really well-judged combination of flavours. It came with a very fresh and tasty heirloom tomato salad, made up of tomatoes, sheep feta, broccoli and hazelnuts. Together this was a pretty sizeable meal, but didn't seem heavy. The 250g grain-fed rump steak was beautifully cooked and the children's portion good value and also a lighter option for adults trying not to overindulge. With it was a great salad of roasted cauliflower, almonds and Savoy cabbage which nicely offset the heaviness of the meat. The 300g barbecue flank steak looked great: A high, lean slab of meat, oozing smoky flavours and served with a barbecued corncob, zucchini and shoestring fries. Quality. Our group also tried the house special pulled pork sandwich, the children's cheese burger - both tasty and good value - and the wood-fired barnyard commando pizza. Everyone was happy. The pub, with a bit of a community focus, serves a mix of mainstream and craft beers, as well as local Marrickville wine producer Sparrow and Vine, which has four barrels on tap. I had the very smoky-toned white King Valley arneis. It's also a family-friendly place with an outdoor eating area that has a grey pub cat called Gizmo prowling around it.

Attractive little local with a big outdoor space and a few cosy options inside including my favourite - high tables. Nice to smell the wood that dominants all the internal space rather than often found in a pub - beer soaked carpet.
Choice for the night was the milk poached chicken burger and pretty bloody good it was also. Good decent chunk of chicken that was tender and juicy. The pineapple was a little scarce but when the two combined it was pretty damn good.

I've been coming here with a decent group of people once a month. The recent renovations are fine; however, the menu has made it more difficult for me to get a decent meal as I don't eat meat and don't want to share plates. Most importantly, they seem to be unable to honour confirmed bookings, so I'd recommend against booking the private room for a group.

The food is great the cocktails are amazing and the atmosphere is awesome. Highly recommend this place for families or even for friends to just chill out.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
The Newington on Stanmore Road has been given a new lease of life; getting a fresh lick of paint and recently being re-launched as Public House Petersham - a funky space where the focus is on the community. The traditional pub decor has been ditched and replaced with cool street artworks, pinball machines, a woodfire pizza oven and a shipping container beer garden.Perfect for sharing on a warm day is the strange but summery Local Haloumi ($24) - a vibrant salad of haloumi, grilled Hawkesbury squid and watermelon
