Visited the SL Hotel on the weekend and the food and service was exceptional! They have recently changed the buffet to a Restaurant. The steak was delicious and the experience was great. Didn't get to try a pizza from the wood fired oven however will be back to try it soon. Great menu with lots of choice as well.
Not too bad, good food and reasonable price. Too bad there was no oysters when we came. The fried food were meh, but the seafood is pretty decent. The crackling pork is probably the highlight, it was so yummy. The salad is pretty good too. As for the dessert it's not too shabby, though it wasn't pretty too look at.
First visit for a birthday party and was quite impressed . So much variety in food, second servings easy.
Chairs were a bit flimsy and every time you stand up the chair would topple backward. Apart from that everything was excellent.
Cheap prices and decent, hot buffet foods! Only down side is that the selection is kinda small, would love more choices! overall, enjoyable!!
Good for the price however better out there if you're willing to drive the extra 20-25 minutes. Decent variety in the food and the staff are very quick and responsive.
The hotel offers decent buffet which includes quite a variety of dishes, Pizza, Roast, Mediterranean cold dishes, salads, seafood(Oyster, prawns and mussels). There are also curries, stir fries, deep-fried fish, calamari ring, chicken Nuggets. A lot deserts and some kinds of fruits. What you can NOT find are: Japanese food(Sushi, Sashimi etc), Chinese Dim Sim.
In order to attract more Asians, I would really hope they can consider adding more Asian cuisines. Other than that, food is in good quality and no complaints to the service. BTW, there is a kids playroom which has the castles and slides, something extra for families with young kids.
Sanctuary lakes hotel is good for a local pub and for those who don't feel like leaving the area on a Friday night. The pub grub is ok for its price.
Very good service, the food selection was also very good. Very fresh seafood. I would not recommended getting the pizza as it is very salty, and also the roasts, they were quite dry and the gravy was the only good bit about it. The selection of Asian foods was quite good also, but the pork ribs were quite difficult to eat as they had a lot if bone in them. Overall it was nice, I wouldn't rush back however. It's good if you have a large family as it is well priced. Β
For a buffet style dinner all you can eat its not to bad. It would be better with a little more variety in foods. But for something local its not a bad all you can eat venue.
We have been here a few times and although the food is great it can be a bit pricey, and it can feel like a food hall style and a bit rushed.
Love it here!! Great food great service!! The reason I give this place a 5 is because of experience.... My child loves it here, he loved the fact the he could choose different dishes to his liking and also the desserts the feeling of seeing how happy food makes him made me happy, be grateful for what you can experience for other people can not afford to eat like kings.
The food, staff and environment are great. The letdown is cleanliness, or lack of. The soft drink jug had food scraps on the inside. Cutlery and cups are always dirty. I'd hate to see what the kitchen looks like
Food rocks! Price is awesome. Clean venue. Staff are ok. Love this place. Especially good for big families
Lovely atmosphere with real value for money buffet selection. Great place to bring the kids with a great variety of dishes for them as well. Friendly staff, would definitely recommend to family and friends.
Excellent value for money with a huge range of quality food in very nice new surroundings and great service. Will make this a regular visit with the family for sure!
Foodie!. My family and I eat out regularly & live in Altona, went to Sanctuary Lakes Hotel buffet a week ago after some of my mates had been telling me to try it. We were blown away on a Saturday night for $29.90 buffet what was on offer, oysters, prawns, roast beef, pork, calamari, wood fired pizza, pasta, veggies, salad & major desert bar, unbelievable for the price!
Service great, we,ll go back once or twice a month. Will try the restaurant too, menu looked like very good value, may even go to their sports bar with my mates, noticed they have great footy tipping comp & tab, easy Saturday afternoon coming! Enjoy guys....excellent value for pricing!
Great Meals. I work in the area and have found this to be the best food option in the area by miles. The buffet is great value $30 stax of choice as anyone knows with a buffet get there early is the key, but prawns roast and dessert for that money is hard to beat. The Cruz/ tapas cafe has more restaurant type meals but also with sharing platters, the meal sizes are more than ample and the sharing platters are just that you need a few and to share them. Really good room and service is very attentive. The best value in the hotel though is in the bar, good pizzas and curries but the stars are the bar regulars Parmas and Steak (porterhouse mostly). The steak lands at $16 and is really VERY good, choice of sauces, chips and salad. Ask for an egg??? No problem. (hate people rolling there eyes and putting it in the too hard basket. Not Here)
To sum up food good to very good service friendly and attentive and good value compared to most other hotels in Melbourne. Yet to have a bad experience there. Highly recommended.
I've not tried the buffet but eaten in the sports bar a few times and recently just tried the front tapas bar. Everytime the meals were faultless! The pie in the sports bar is delish, great quality and presented well and less than $10 is amazing value! Burger is also very very good! The ribs are the way to go in the tapas bar, although a small serve the meat was falling off the ribs, great flavour! I highly recommend this hotel....much much better atmosphere, decor and meals than the phoenix hotel.
Hamburgers in the sports bar are AWESOME!! Parmas are pretty good too. It's better than most other pub grub out there, even better than what a heap of cafes are doing. It's non-pretentious & a good change if you want a casual meal & a few pots.
We like it here, civilised, no ques, away from screaming kids and greasy foods. Prices are quite reasonable, parking 's not a problem.
Enjoyed the buffet. Had heard of this place but put off going not expecting it to be that good really but was talked into trying it, so glad I did. We went mid week for lunch and it was really nice. The roast beef was very nice, the kids loved everything and kept going back for more trying different things and we have been back many times since. Looking forward to one weekend trying the seafood.
Not Half bad. While not exactly fine dining the buffet is actually pretty good, the seafood options were very fresh and after eating about 3 dozen of them can confirm the oysters were particularly good. The SLH is a good option for families especially those with hollow legged teenagers in tow.
The sports bar out the back could use some more dining tables but is OK as well. Heaps of Bogans especially on poker and pool comp nights but they seem tame enough and largely well behaved.
The Sports Bar service is a little slow but the cheap bar meals are quite decent if your not in buffet mode.
Went there last Sunday with the family for my partners birthday. I must say what a suprise we got for a buffet. Very good :)) Must try if you love seafood will definitely eat your money's worth !!
School Canteen not for me...... ....so i decided to avoid the buffet. That being said, it always seems so popular. I have had a meal in the Sports bar however while watching the Rugby and have to say that i couldn't fault the value of it. Ordered the Burger, tasty and nicely presented, just the job for cheap eats whilst sinking a few Bulmers.
Went to the tapas bar a few friday nights ago, the food was lovely, the lighting was great and the frindely staff were so great explaing what everything came with and what everything was. The goats chesse fritters was so yummy but the home made dounuts topped the list for my wife and i!! will definately be back!
The food was fresh and tasty with a great variety to choose from! The service was good with tables being cleared of soiled plates quickly and staff were friendly! Went there for New Years dinner but walked out feeling a bit disappointment (probably the worse time to go) but happy I decided to suck it up and give it another shot!
Good quality food and great value for money. Awesome place for families with a wide range of food and great play area for kids.

A great all you can eat! Very average selection. Was surprise that there wasnβt much diversity.
Everything there was great though. Just seemed like for a all you can eat, you could have more.
What a hidden treasure this hotel is!!!! We have driven past so many times and always saw the carpark packed and now I know why. It's very family πͺ friendly and the staff are just as fantastic π. Your tables are cleared every 5mins, they are cleaned and cleared straight away and the food π omg fresh, so many different choices. I'm definitely going to recommend this to everyone π for a hotel and a buffet you are restaurant deserving π well done π
Represented The Common People, creative art ministry at a celebration of 9 children's 1st Holy communion. Beautiful environment. Great staff with good knowledge and friendly service. We didn't any trouble. Loved it β€
Nice place to get a buffet experience once in a while.
We went on a one Sunday..
(After a pokies session which is located next to the buffet area)
Had a large food variety experience in different cultures.
Spent nearly $80 for two persons (excluding beverages)
We catered a 16th birthday party last 4th June and they assist us well. Food is awesome. Nicole the event manager replied swiftly to our questions that made our job a lot easier. Hope to work with you again in the future! Cheers!
All you can eat restaurant.
Large venue, can accommodate large groups.
Decent variety of food, replenished frequently so readily available.
Indoor playground for young children.
Efficient, friendly staff with the exception of venues security who were quite rude.
Extremely busy and a little pricey if you don't have a large appetite.
Very friendly staff! we had a flat battery yesterday RACV took 1.5 hours to come so we had a jump cable however need to move a car to be able to do so, security staff helped to find the owner, after found offered to use their car to jump start ours! very helpful ....I would keep going there to have dinner etc...
Great food and venue. Food made to a much higher standard than many other buffet restaurants. Friendly staff. Iam not sure why Sunday nights are more expensive than during the week. I have been recently on a Wednesday and food the food exactly the same (prawns etc).
