A lovely staff member ( I think her name was Giacinta I might be spelling that wrong , it started with a G . She had beautiful red voluminous short hair) she's been so the past 2 years we have visited . The food is great , even if it's food you usually don't like , they make it amazingly. - spectacular views . Perfect 3rd date or further along date restaurant. Quite day time romantic. Tad pricey tho

Beautiful food and ambience. Amazing service especially from Isabella. Such a cute restaurant. We went for our 5 year anniversary and they wowed us. Thank you so much.

Yesterday was our first evening in the area. I googled for star rated restaurants and this place was the closest to our hotel. We ordered cheese soufflé, tomato bruschetta, Potato gnocchi with lime chilli prawns and burnt fig pudding. We had Shiraz to go with it. Everything was good but must admit the gnocchi was very bland. I’m not impressed given the rave reviews about the food here.

Loved the food here and good timely service, we would definitely return the next time we're up in the Hunter, I had the vegetarian Bolognese 10/10 full of flavour and chunky veggies, my partner had the prawn pizza with vegan cheese, also 9/10 as he was expecting a lighter base but otherwise a tip top experience

Great dinner with the family and friends. Food and service was all exceptional.

Delicious food, friendly service, warm toasty comfortable Italian restaurant. Has to be one if our fave places in the Hunter. Prices not too bad, for this area (overpriced most of the time). Would definitely come back again.

We had a great experience here on our visit to Hunter. The staff was good, quick service, and the dishes were pretty good. One of the people in our group was vegetarian and the size of the mushroom dish and the garlic bread was good enough to be a meal. The prawn pizza was good as well. Overall very happy with our experience there.

I didn't really love this place, but I liked it. Food was good, but not wow great. The veal I ordered was a little on the tough side although my partner's seafood dish was nice. The service staff were lovely. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience.

My wife and I had dinner here last night with our children. The staff where really helpful and friendly. The children's meals where really great quality of which I would be happy to eat myself. Freshly crumbed chicken tenderloins and lovely fresh vegetables. Not your typical chicken nuggets!
We shared the scallops for an entree which where lovely. My wife had the spaghetti seafood and I had the steak. Both meals where really good quality and very tasty. Drinks where reasonably priced and of very good quality. I would definitely recommend this place for either a family friendly venue, romantic escape or small (up to 8) group.

First time trying northern Italian cuisine during my Hunter Valley trip. Love every bit of it! The food was simple; but ingredients, which are fresh and grown locally, really make it taste superb. The theme of II Cacciatore seems to be semi-formal/ fine dining so it's not suitable if you come in a group or with kids. The food would take ages to be served and the kid's menu won't be available after 6:30pm.

If you arrive with your date, it would be perfect to talk through the wait and drink wine.

Good little find. It was very busy but the service was still very good. Menu has a great variety, servings were generous, food great and prices were reasonable. I would recommend booking if planning to dine on a weekend (as with everything in the Hunetr).

Food are really nice. We have ordered the zucchini flower and pan fried burramundi fillet and seafood linguini. Flavor are good and the dishes are very special. Just to note, DONT click the 'direct to there 'button straight from Zomato as it will take you to wrong place!!! Just copy the address and paste to google map and search. You won't be wasting your time on the road.

The veal was extremely well cooked with the accompanying veges so delicious I could have had them on their own. Hubby very happy with his spaghetti and meatballs too. Ask for a table outside and enjoy the friendly service. Oh and have the Tiramsu - super yummy.

Lovely family run business. Very traditional meals . Lovely friendly service. Though very busy they happily found us a table last minute .
Salmon was perfectly cooked and the meatballs where the best ever.

This restaurant was also hosting a large party in a separate area the night we went but it did not affect the service in the restaurant itself. We found the wait staff friendly and helpful even finding out the name of an artist singing a particular song we liked. The serving of veal I had was cooked to perfection and the accompanying vegetables were a good choice and complemented the dish. The fish was also cooked well and much enjoyed. It is a medium priced restaurant with good food and wine to match. Can recommend it.

Great Italian in the Hunter. Hidden away in the Hunter Valley at Pokolbin is the best Italian feed around. Great food, wine and atmosphere made for a great night. The staff could not be more help, great wine selection and authentic Italian.

Very average experience, I wouldnt waste my time and money there anymore.

The food was absolutely amazing! Slow cooked lamb and both pastas were to die for! The owners son Camren showed us around and we had the best service. Their home made Shiraz was beautiful. Wonderful overall experience.

Read the other reviews and can't believe the bad comments, everything we are was amazing! Dessert was incredible! Maybe some people chose badly and we got lucky but would HIGHLY recommend gnocchi and the creme brûlée

Sunday night. This is probably one of the worst meals I have ever had!!!!

Fish was raw in my "Pasta' and my partners meal was cooked by a 4 year-old.

Avoid at all costs!

Beautiful food. I had the pukin and gorgonzola tart which was divine followed by beetroot gnocchi with tarragon sauce. Equally divine and a very pleasant evening.

We liked it in a way that it was adequate, but nothing special. Service was a little haphazard, food was nice but nothing to gush about... Overall pleasant but not top of the list.

Absoloutely disgusted!!!. There is not much more I can say than utterly disappointing and for so many restaurant of the year awards I want to know who is reviewing this restaurant??? Terrible service, terrible food.

Great food. Enough said.. This is a beautiful cosy little restaurant with great food. One of the best places I've been to in the hunter valley and it will not dissapoint. The outlook was great and so was the service.

Very Disappointed.. We had enjoyed two wonderful dinners at ll Cacciatore. On Fathers' day 2011 we went for lunch. My meal was so bland I tipped the balsamic vinegar from our bread onto it to try and improve the flavour. My wife had a pot of beans that were sickening. We thought about it overnight. Next day we went to complain. My wife said she had never done this before but just had to say how bad the meal was and how it had spoilt our day. When she said the pot of baked beans was disgusting, the lady said, How Dare We! Baked Beans!! No sorry about us having to complain, just an arrogent attitude.

Very dissapointed. This place totally ruined our Hunter trip, we had booked in advance, and were loking forward to a dining experiance that would do justice to the " reputation" of this place.

Our group of 3 couples were treated with rather arrogant service, and to top it off our crispy duck, which was almost shoved into our mind as a heavenly experiance mad two of us that tasted it, become sick all night.

The duck was rubbery, the skin smelled rather strong, and it too me almost 5 minutes to chew the first and only bite I took.

My wifes Pork was red raw, and sje refused to eat anything else, as the staff again displayed a rather snobby attitude at doing what they are being paid for, and that is giving service.

Never again, and dont even bother.
