Came in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my partner (As you do). The outlay has a terrarium like feel with the indoor plants. Staff were really helpful and friendly.
Had the beef slow cooked pie, found it to be quite nice the crust was thick and crunchy, and the slow cooked beef was juicy and tasty. (3/5)
My partner got the lamb shoulder, tender, juicy with a good pairing of sauce. (3/5).
Food here is decent quality and matches the pricing.
Would come again in the future.
1st time to the Hunter Valley. We went as a group of 8 after work. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff went above and beyond and the food was sensational. They also had an extensive wine list too. It will be hard to return to the Hunter and be willing to try somewhere else after this now.
Great little find! We were recommended to go here by a lady working at one of the cellar doors close by and we were not disappointed! We ordered a dozen oysters, then had steaks as our main that were cooked perfectly (medium rare) and shared a bottle of Riesling which topped off the meal nicely. We ended with a dessert of the Eton mess which was the perfect way to end the meal. Service was attentive and friendly. Will be back on our next trip to the Hunter!
Great service and ambience, food was tasty and cooked to perfection. We had the grilled prawns and as we were sharing (between 2) instead of 5 large prawns they bought us 6 at no extra cost. They were great.
Had this restaurant recommended at one of the cellar doors and glad they did. Great food and great service. Had the lamb cutlets and cooked exactly as ordered. Great tasting to boot.
An excellent choice for special occasions. This is a beautiful restaurant with a great menu and talented chefs. I have many allergies and they managed to come up with a beautiful dish using what they had on hand - very impressed. So delicious. Nice wine list and friendly, helpful staff. A little on the expensive side but it's well worth it, perfect for a special night out that's sure to be delicious.
This week, we were in a pretty rare occasion that we actually decided to stay, rather than having a return trip to Hunter Valley for the weekend. After some discussions with the family, we decided to eat at The Cellar Restaurant in the Hunter Valley Gardens. It’s also because not a lot of restaurants are opened on Friday night.
Great location and best sirloin steak I have had in a long time. Log fire in the center of the room gave a terrific atmosphere. The staff were excellent and we are going back again tonight.
What a find, looking for a restaurant in the hunter valley that is not a winery. Food was outstsnding and the service was perfect. The wagyu skirt steak is the perfect steak.

Absolutely loved it here! Amazing food and great service. Perfect as we were placed right next to the fire place on such a cold winters night. We had to force ourselves to have dessert as it they all just sounded (and were) so delicious!
Lovely restaurant. We went for dinner on a Monday night and found the place to be beautiful for what we wanted. The menu is all fairly expensive, but the food was delicious and we also tried a few drinks from the cocktail menu which were great. It has a lovely ambience and the staff were really friendly and attentive.
The filling of the yorkshire pudding morsel was super rich and full of flavour while the pastry was light and fluffy.
With a last minute booking we were expecting a nice dinner out, but WOW were we blown away by the quality of the food at this restaurant! The quality and execution of the dishes matching that of some of Sydney's top restaurants.
The interior is unique with what feels like an outdoor area, with gardens on either side, yet fully enclosed with air conditioning & windows all around. The gardens, lighting and fireplace create a great atmosphere, particularly at night.
However, the food is the real attraction here!
The standouts for us were:
- ENTREE: Prawn Gow Gee with mushroom style broth
- MAIN: 12hr Cooked Black Angus Rump Cap
They also have a wonderful selection of wines & the staff are very friendly. If you're in the area do yourself a favour and book yourself in for a dinner, you won't be disappointed!
First time visitor and pleasantly surprised by both the food, service and ambiance. Highlights include the black Angus rump cap which was cooked to perfection and the slow cooked pork belly was a good entree choice. The Moreton bay bugs were also cooked well (not overdone) however the sauce whilst interesting, was a little underwhelming. For dessert, the Malibu cheesecake with pineapple and coconut was excellent and a great way to finish the meal. Staff were very nice and attentive to all our needs.
This place is absolutely delicious!!!! We ordered the lamb rack, 12 hour cooked rump, chocolate mousse and cheesecake. It can't be more delicious!! The rump was extremely flavoursome and tender. I also really loved the puff and cookie ice cream with the chocolate mousse and the (unbelievably) tardy mix of pineapple and cheesecake! Absolutely cooked to perfection!! They managed to squeeze us in even though we did a last minute call. Thanks!
The staffs were really friendly as well but they are quite short on staffs so do allow for extra dining time. Would be even better if they can wear masks but definitely the food is worth trying when you visit this place!!! 😚
Everything we ordered was delicious and hot. Fish was little bit dry in the fried fish would recommend to ask for some aioli. Brownies were amazing would come again just for it.
What a wonder place for dinner. We were warmly greeted by the staff and seated immediately. They were very polite and friendly. Took our orders quickly and the meals arrived pretty quick.
Our steaks were perfect and very delicious. Even our kids meals we fresh and full of flavour and even come with free dessert. We were extremely happy with the whole experience. Thank you to everyone at the Cellar Restaurant.
Excellent place - I would advise booking in advance though. The wines are of good quality, the meals are quite well proportioned (I made the mistake of over ordering!)
The steak was great and you can tell great care was taken to prepare the meals. A great place to eat after a day in the Gardens!
Booked this place last minute in December and amazingly they had a spot for 7 ppl! Staff seemed so busy, think they needed more ppl. The slow cooked lamb was the highlight - so tender and juicy. Kids meals were big and comes with dessert that the adults ate and really enjoyed (brownie with hokey pokey ice cream I think)!
