Review Pancakes At The Port - Port Adelaide

Steven Blowers
Just incredible, the view is stunning, the food is cooked to perfection. One of the best breakfast I've ever had. Staff welcome you as soon as you walk in with a warm welcome. As a bonus if you order from the contactless menu from your phone the menu is discounted. Thank you so much, found this from asking Google "I want pancakes for breakfast" and this place came up as #1 and I can see why, perfection. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. 6 stars

The chocolate ice cream pancake was not bad. Great view to the ocean from the shop. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They maintain excellent hygiene at the shop. đŸ‘đŸŒ It’s really pleasant to spend some relaxing time there with some treats.

It was really good the food was amazing and the staff was really friendly and nice. What i had was called the big breakfast i think and my partner had eggs Benedict. I usually dont have coffee most of the places meaning cafes usually burn it but the coffee i tried it was OMG , i highly recommended the flat white just that alone was an experience in it self 👍👍oh the view was really nice

Great menu with lots of breakfast and lunch choices. The serves were very generous. I had the All Day Breakfast which was delicious and very filling. The banana smoothie was great too. The service is very friendly and efficient.

Eggs delivered exactly as asked for, perfect. The toasted damper very good, and came buttered ( one of my pet peeves the unbuttered toast with egg already on top - garbage) very generously. Great spot to view the water and docks. Also a chef type person does the cooking, and waitress on the ball.

A nice spot to drop in on, friendly staff and quick service. Everything pancakes--ample maple syrup, and the best hash browns I've tasted. They offer indoor-outdoor dining and best of all their pet friendly. Loads to see in historic Port Adelaide

Nice and fluffy pancakes and a good ice coffee. A bit too much topping for me, only downside. Great place to enjoy the water view. No dolphins spotted, but heaps of jellyfish.

Shakes were awesome and their crispy fried hash browns too. Serving was generous and the staff were courteous.

Had a takeaway mocha here and I was not impressed. It tasted like a bland hot chocolate. There was not a hint of coffee in that mocha at all. I don't think I will ever order that drink here again.

I'll always have a soft spot for this place - it's been there forever (though the owners have changed over the years). Menu has basically remained the same for years. Food is pretty consistent; fresh and tasty and service is great! Friendly staff.

Ordered the comb deal with one savoury pancake and one sweet pancake, the pancakes were average to good (3/5) and the coffee was good. The staff was friendly.

Will I go back: yes, I want to try their other fancy dessert pancakes.

Really delicious big breakfast! Nice location right beside the ships and everything too! Port Adelaide is beautiful with all its murals as well.

Picked up a drink on a cool but clear sunny winters public holiday. Enjoyed sitting outside in the sun and watching people promenade - what a location! Wife had a peach tea whilst I went for a mixed berries smoothy. Came in good time and tasted nice. Not a particularly innovative drink but did the trick (perhaps could've had more berry flavour). Friendly staff made sure we were looked after. Menu looks nice for a breakfast and with the new Quest, may well entice us to visit!

If you want to put panckakes in your name you want to put together some pretty good panckakes. I've never had pancakes this good. Nice and fluffy. Yumo!

Time to find another place for breakfast! We are a family of 5 who have frequented this place (as former Port residents) for ages & and today's experience has highlighted the fact that what was once a nice family friendly establishment has gone to the dogs. The pancakes have shrunk over the years, service has become less friendly and it is obvious with the success of this place they have lost their former family-oriented values and money is the important thing now. Staff not really customer oriented as they used to be; there must have been a change of owner it seems. We will not come back here again and this is a real disappointment as we have grown up with this place. If you have kids, go somewhere else as you will be shunted out into a side room with zero ambiance, unlike the gorgeous main room where the privileged, less kid endowed ppl eat. Bye bye pancakes at the port; you have hit the bottom of the harbour!!!

It’s hard to believe but Pancakes at the Port has been around for nearly 16 years. Chef Sylvain first started with the original founders of the business in 2006 and then took over the management side of things in 2014. Like all good businesses, it’s all about supporting the local economy. All the meats, fruits, vegetables and eggs are sourced from local suppliers.

Dined here for the first time and it was great, pancakes were fluffy and nice, bacon and eggs were also cooked well and the price wasn't too bad. What topped it off was definitely the customer service, the chef personally serving the food was definitely a nice touch.

We have been a few times and is always a great place to go. Pancakes are amazing the only thing to avoid are the smoothies..they are just milk and ice cream, no fruit. But otherwise a great family place to eat.

We have heard about this place but have never had the chance to visit. We got here on a Sunday morning round 10, it seemed really busy but luckily we were able to sit in their function room which I preferred not as busy and loud. The service was really friendly and welcoming, the menu had many different options so if you weren't in the mood for pancakes you can have something else. We ordered the Canadian which had 2 pancakes, bacon, egg and tomato. Pancakes were delicious nice and fluffy buttermilk ones. To top it off they make their own syrup!! I thought that added the extra special touch. Coffee and freshly squeezed juice was also great. Will definitely return! 😊😊😊😊

Changed since came here last ciuldnt get seat in main dining area so hadcto go in next door..which is fine..but then had to walk back next door to main area to Order! Least they could do would be table service in this area. .
Beautiful fluffy pancakes at a great location overlooking the port river, and if you're lucky you may spot some of the port river dolphins. I really want to give this 5 stars but the small pots of maple syrup and astronomical prices let it down.

Would like to try this place again after reading the recent reviews as our experience wasn't great. We did come a while ago and I think it was amid management changeover. The service was pretty cold and our meals all came at different times even tho there was only 3of us and 2of us ordered the same thing. Very inexpensive and pancakes were still fluffy so that was good. Will have to give another go for sure though. 😊

We had a very pleasant experience at Pancakes at the Port yesterday. The friendly owner served us personally. We asked for extra crispy bacon, and they delivered, the bacon was spot on. The reason I mentioned it because we have been to many many places for breakfast and we always asked for extra crispy bacon, we are always amazed that not many restaurants or cafes delivered what asked for. So we were pretty pleased to see the extra crispy bacon on our plates. The hash browns were extra crunchy and yummy too, and the pancakes were fluffy as usual.
We have been to this place for so many times in the past few years, we have seen its ups and downs, including this year's change of management. We are very pleased to see that it's back on track. Keep it up!!!

I usually don't give many perfect scores but this restaurant deserves it! So much better that the pancake parlour. Much fresher and more fluffy pankakes.

Accommodating, friendly, good pancakes ang nice spot. What's not to like? Definitely will be back.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?- we are customers --Ladye and Kevin. Generally when I don't like something I just don't go back- but we have been going to Pancakes for a long time and don't want to give it up. We had breakfast there yesterday (Sunday). We had the Canadian breakfast and Eggs Benedict and two juices. The Eggs and bacon were superb- totally delicious, but the pancakes tasted like a cheap sponge cake and the juices were pretty near undrinkable- the orange sour and tasteless and the carrot bitter and tasted like dirt. The juices anyway are an easy fix- plenty good juice grade produce around- a stern word to the suppliers! Everything else was spot on.

Change of owner not always a good thing. Don't mind a price increase, but the quality decrease shouldn't be part of it. Eggs were cooked to long, yolk was hard. Pancakes were underdone. The maple syrup was watered down. The little girl on the service counter distracting (I gather, her mother) whilst taking orders not a good look. Drinks coming out well after the meal was finished not good also. Sometimes greed loses customers, we won't be back!

Change is good. Pancakes at the port is under new management and it shows.
The new owner and his team have definitely cleaned this once tired old business up.
It has been painted cleaned polished, with new decor.
There are big changes with the service also. Friendly efficient staff. New menu items.
All I have to say is up and onwards for this business with the wonderful views of our port.

Things take time to change. Having read a few reviews about the food and new management I was a little perturbed however like anything that has gone through a change you need patience and understanding . I found it to be good and would certainly return , as far as customers wanting to use Entertainment Book repeatedly that is unreasonable and most establishments in the book don't allow continuous use . if that's a problem then just go to McDonald's- Good luck with your new business and maybe see some (crepes) in the future

Worst experience of the year so far!
What an insolent and ignorant owner! I asked for the waiter to not put jam but double the whipped cream for my pancake and the waiter told me the jam cost cannot compensate the whipped cream price so I have to pay for the extra whipped cream.

I have no problem with that and the bill shows the whipped cream costs 4 DOLLARS! You can buy a freaking bottle of whipped cream with that price. What a rip off! I m cool with paying few cents for a small potion of whipped cream, but this is robbery!

I ll never visit this place again!

Disappointed with new management. My husband and i have been regular customers at pancakes at the port. The previous owners always allowed customers to use the entertainment book voucher as many times as they liked which was a huge bonus. The new owners have put a stop to that.
I went there on a sunday mornining when it was really busy. There was only 1 table left next to the table we were sitting at and one of the staff members was on her break and went and sat at the table for her break for half an hour while sipping a glass of water. Other customers walked past looking for a table and walked off because it was full.
We ate our breakfast which was fine. Then when we finished eating, our coffee orders finally arrived when we were ready to go which was about 45 mins after we order them.
Air conditioning vents need a major clean also... They look like they are covered in mold or something!

Great meal... VERY filling!!. New management, should prob change the menu up a bit, would love some mushrooms cooked in garlic butter as an option. Ordered the farmers brekky and a chocolate thickshake (shows on menu as iced chocolate, lets get that name changed cause it was awesome and thick!) Nice meal...

Under New Management - Not the same. We went there and ordered 3 meals with drinks.
The girl taking our order was obliging, but I suspected she couldn't use the register.
When she totalled the meals up she told me it would be over $100.
I knew this was wrong so asked her to repeat the order which she did and then told me the total.
Again over $100 and she would've been happy to take that from me.
I challenged her again and other staff assisted, including, I assume the new owner and rectified the issue.
The total was around $50.00 which was correct for what I ordered.
The meals and drinks came promptly and the food wasn't bad, but the pancakes were soggy and not the same.
I guess things change with new management and unfortunately we won't be returning.

Nice pancakes but extremely slow service. Went for brunch on a Sunday morning, the place was quite busy but we were able to get a table. I placed my order for the Farmer's Breakfast at around 11:30am and didn't receive my order til around an HOUR later! After flagging down a staff member and querying our order they were quick to send it out (by this time I was ready to start eating my arm!!).
I thought for $13 the serving was great value: 2 large fluffly, well-cooked pancakes, 2 fried eggs and 2 delicious crispy hash browns. The iced coffee I ordered was delicious but I had finished it well before my food arrived which was quite annoying. I can understand that being busy would result in a delay of receiving my meal but I just felt an hour was just ridiculous. If you can withstand waiting very lengthy periods of time for your food, the pancakes are delicious and I would recommend their food.

Not impressed. First and last visit. Not real maple just sugar based, pancakes were one of the worst I've had butter was rancid. The wife had crepes with salad (salad was nice and fresh) but great disappointment, described as filled crepes with minced steak and mushrooms with cheese which turned out to be nothing more than an oil filled spaghetti bolognese.
The place it self had a nice outlook but was filthy! Air con unit was covered in dust and dirt, floor was covered in debris and looked as if it hadn't seen a mop for some time and the toilets were smelly and disgusting.
Coffee was great and young waitresses were polite and friendly.

Well, what a complete waste of time that was. We ordered and there were empty tables around us, and after 40 minutes we still didn't have our two short stacks. Yes, after 40 minutes we didn't have one of our four pancakes. These weren't special orders with fancy toppings, just regular pancakes with syrup. Only four of them. When I asked they said it would be more than 10 minutes before they'd be ready. So, at least 50 minutes for four small, simple pancakes. I could have driven home, made my own, eaten them and then driven back and they still wouldn't be ready. The staff were rude and unhelpful and when I requested a refund, they short changed me. Clap. Clap. Ultimate fail.

We went on Sunday morning at 8:15am. It was busy but thought an hour was far too long to wait for our food to arrive. The food quality was average to good depending on your expectations. We ordered the Canadian which came with thick pancakes (2 is a huge serve) & a very small serve of scrambled eggs. The iced coffee was quite nice & was served in a funky jar type glass. The staff were young and friendly. Although the cafe is labelled kid friendly, I wouldn't recommend for young toddlers who will get bored waiting an hour for the food to arrive.

A total "Faily" at the Port. A bit of a disappointment. Took the family here for a nice brekky ( March '14) with a view and it was not really what I had hoped for, and it's just a cafe so we weren't expecting silver service, just normal cafe with a nice ambience but it was not the case.

Fail No.1 I think if we were sat in the main part it would have been better but they have opened a dingy hot and dirty around the side that I think is opened a bit prematurely to cope with the business.

Fail No 2:So we sat out in the "naughty corner and we needed to take our baby to get changed. They promote thisplace as kid friendly. I think that simply means they employ kids who try their hardest but that is as far as it goes. The toilet is tiny, no room to change the baby except on the floor and the toilet seriously needed attending too.

Fail No 3:The food arrives and as I mentioned the staff are quite young, enthusiatic but need mentoring. The waitress dropped our cutlery and went to put it back on the table ,then had a think about it. My wife ordered a choc stack which was pretty good. I had the Milano. It was overbearingly salty plus the bacon. The pancake itself looked like a vomit. I realised it had been presented upside down with the burned cheese base showing. I flipped it over.. ah.. that looks better.

Fail No 4: I asked to change tables to a vacant one inside the main cafe as there were 3 empty tables ( 7 seats all up) These were apparently reserved and were still vacant when we left. I see they were reserved for later in the afternoon ..WTF. These empty tables are an opportunity lost for business plus would have changed this review to a " we'll give it anohter go" but you'll not see me again.. sorry

Like a few things down the Port, it's a bit rough and not there yet but my tip for the owners is to hang in there and put a little thought in from the customers experience view point. Spend some time to train your staff. It seems they are trying hard but the lack of management vison and value added support is very clear

Great place. Mug of great coffee and a kids chocolate pancake with ice cream for $9.80. Excellent value, and the pancake fed the kid and me!

The trading hours state open till 10 pm which is incorrect as we came to spend some time and money at 8.30 pm and you were not open very disappointed

Pretty good. Pancakes are good and there is a great range of options. it has the home made vibe if you're into that. nothing to rave about though...

I don't know if I went on a bad day or not, but the service was terrible. I felt as though I were actively avoided. Parts of the dish were forgotten (syrup), and the coffee was bitter and stale. An experience to forget (like the syrup...)

Can't wait to go back!. Had the Farmers breakfast which is two pancakes with eggs and hash browns. Absolutely delicious! My iced coffee was superb. The service was good and the prices are very reasonable. Can just imagine how busy this place gets on weekends. Will definitely return.

Not Happy. We went on Sunday and the place was busy. We waited about 30 minutes to get 4 coffees and probably the same again for our food. The food was Okay but not great. The Big Breakfast on their menu is not available on a Sunday. Nobody cleared any of our used plates or cups from our table despite bringing drinks and food to our table and walking away empty handed. We just had to stack our plates on the table to make room. Been there once before a while ago and the service wasnt good them but thought they may have lifted there game. Not the case.
Toodles1973
Dissapointed. We first had lunch here on a Sunday arvo. We really enjoyed the food and even though it was quite busy, service was prompt and friendly. We were looking forward to returning.

We returned for brunch another weekend, and again it was quite busy but the service was prompt. We were a little disappointed with their policy that they "don't substitute." Neither of us wanted any ham or bacon on the dish we were choosing, so asked if it could be substituted for another egg or hash brown. We were told NO there are no substitutes but we can add an extra egg or hash brown for an extra charge. We declined. We had to pay the same price for the meal less the meat.

We returned again recently on a Sunday for brunch. We thought we would ask again for the ham or bacon to be substituted, but again we were told NO substitutes but we can add something else for extra charge. We declined, and had to pay the same price for the meal less the meat.

We waited approximately 50 minutes for our drinks alone.
Then a further 15 minutes for our meals.
We enjoyed our drinks. I didn't enjoy my meal. In hind sight I should have chosen something different considering the no substitute rule. My partner said his meal was nice, but because he was so hungry he didn't really stop to enjoy it.

We have decided not to return. It is probably best because we are not going to change our eating habits of not eating ham or bacon, and Pancakes at the Port are not going to change their no substitution rule. We thought it was a bit rude not to substitute. We would be more than happy to pay the same price and get an extra egg, but not to have to pay for an extra egg when the meal was less the meat.

BEST PANCAKES IN ADELAIDE. Also as part of the Canadian GP weekend we decided to go for a Canadian staple. Pancakes at the Port is by far the best pancakes in Adelaide by a mile. Reasonable prices and good serves plus if you can pick up a voucher from the Messenger it’s a real bargain. The quality of food is excellent and there’s a wide variety of option including savoury and sweet pancakes. All are delicious and being on the river it makes a great spot for breakfast. A small bonus is you can have as much maple syrup as you like, you’re not stuck with a little dipping bowl that lasts half a pancake.

Pleasant surprise. I went here with a voucher: entree, main meals for 2, a pancake desert with ice cream and drinks for 2. I'm always weary about vouchers as they seem to be cutting corners since the meals were bought cheap but this experience wasn't that at all. In fact, it's quite pleasant.

Situated at the port itself hence you get to view the sea, the boats docked at the side and the bridge. It looks dreary in the afternoon but as the meal progressed into the night, the atmosphere changed dramatically: sea is a dusky dark blue-black, while the night was black with stars, and the lights from the bridge gives the ambience a more romantic feel. Sitting outside in the cool fresh air just added to the nicety.

The meal started with entree platter serving a combination of Meditteranean dips and other things eg olives, fish nuggets, others. The juice served was pretty good and looked like home-made freshly squeezed. We chose steaks for our main. Admittedly this was not the best steak, it was plain and lacking flavour and the meat was not fresh. Where they lacked for the mains, they made up for the desert. The pancake was very good (they are a pancake place after all) but the ice-cream served could be better as it tasted cheap. Hence average entree, mediocre mains, and very good desert. But one thing that beats it all is the exemplary service. The waitress was very attentive and made us feel very welcome. In fact it was this service that made this experience memorable. So I would go back here again just to have a taste of their pancakes and their great service.

I can't think of a better way to reward oneself for completing a half-marathon other than copious amounts of food, that will probably clog your arteries - cue Pancakes at the Port! Located in Port Adelaide just a few paces away from the famous light house is this unassuming cafe that specialises in pancakes.

Ahoy me hearties...drop ye anchors at these here lonely (plate) docks and I'll tell ye a merry yarn o' some pancake treasures...

Enormous apple cider; $5.00 German feast; $15.00 Hot buttered walnuts; $13.00 One of the perfect things to cure a hangover? Thick fluffy pancakes! A popular spot down by the dock in Port Adelaide is Pancakes at the Port often with patrons filled inside and outside the premises. Reservations are recommended although we did visit this spot as a walk in and didn’t have to wait too long for a table to free up. They’ve got original pancakes (short stacks) along with sweet and savoury ones. The stranger ordered his usual go-to pancakes, the German feast with kranski sausage, bacon, egg and tomato (with way too much whipped butter) with a side of maple syrup whilst I stuck with something on the sweeter side, pancakes with walnuts cooked in butter and maple syrup. Amazingly he smashed through his ‘not very vibrant or colourful’ looking breakfast with ease whilst I stopped after going through half a pancake as it was sickeningly sweet and my sugar quota was met after the first bite.
