Review Port Admiral Hotel - Port Adelaide

So glad this pub is my local! The staff are always excellent, food quality and nothing beats a glass of wine under the verandah on a warm summers day. The chicken schnitzel is exceptionally good, so to are the burgers and the salt and pepper squid. The seasoning they put on their chips is 👌🏻 Hot tip, the house white is an excellent SA local wine and you can buy a bottle of it in the bottle shop next door!

The food here is AMAZING!! I've been here a number of times and can't fault it, so yummy, expect to eat too much lol. The service is epic, the staff know how to look after customers, so friendly and helpful. I love the outdoor areas in our new COVID-19 world also. Not a fan of the wine list, sorry guys. I can usually find something I like but the one I wanted to try was a out of stock. I was offered another 'similar' wine which was nothing like what I was looking for. Lucky they also have an extensive cocktail list!

First time customer. We ordered dinner delivered from the Port Admiral Hotel restaurant recently and it was absolutely delicious, mouthwatering and beautifully cooked and presentation. We ordered: Wood Grilled Portuguese Chicken with Scorched corn, chilli, green leaves, pickled red onions, porto dressing, creamy potato salad (gf). Crinkle Cut Chips (VO / GF) Environmentally friendly takeaway packaging. The Wood Grilled Portuguese Chicken was juicy and tender, and the salads were beautifully made. I especially loved the potato salad and how perfectly soft cooked the potatoes were. I often avoid potato salad from restaurants and takeaway stores because majority of places don’t cook the potatoes properly and they’re often undercooked…. Well, the chef/cook who is at the Port Admiral restaurant is an excellent chef/cook. Everything about the food we had was exceptional. Perfect balance of flavours & seasoning. Top quality! Unfortunately they don’t currently offer their restaurant menu desserts on their MenuLog app delivery menu. Hopefully management or the kitchen will consider adding this to the menu soon. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning customers!

Best pub in the North West - pop in pretty much weekly for the past few years, food has always been excellent no matter what you get. Passes the pub schnitty test with flying colours. Always a good selection of beers on tap and the staff are great.

Dope pub. Excellent food, friendly staff and warm atmosphere. Great place to sit, eat and/or socialise. Special props to the kitchen team for the excellent range of vegan options, but all 'round great experience time after time.

was told i was being rude for asking for a refund on an incorrect meal. kinda ruined my day. food was ok. won't be returning. I'm not exactly a strident or even confident person. I don't get out much, to be clear. But when my sister asked if I could return her meal for her, because it was not what she had ordered, I agreed. I presented the meal to staff down-stairs and calmly asked for a refund (after waiting for them to finish talking). The staff member asked what was wrong with the meal and I explained. The staff member disputed that there was anything wrong with the meal (as another member of staff had when my sister had pointed out the issue when presented with a meal that wasn't what she had ordered). And, she added.."Well, you're bein' kinda rude". I'm really not the kind of person to leave a negative review.. but this was an incredibly ridiculous situation. The staff member explained that someone should have told us there had been a change of menu. I get that. Things happen, it really doesn't matter. I wouldn't have cared if it had been burnt beyond recognition. It wasn't even my food. I wasn't invested enough to be angry or rude. It's not who I am.. like.. at all. It uh.. it cut pretty deep. I was flabbergasted. I just repeated the issue and was told that the refund had to be in cash and couldn't be on card (which.. I'm not even sure if that's allowed under Australian Consumer Law.. but whatever). I spent the rest of the family event I was attending confused and hurt.. as I said, it ruined my day and I don't see myself attending this venue again. Watch for: soggy eggplant, incorrect orders, and egotistical staff.

Just had lunch at the Port Admiral with some friends, really friendly staff, food was quick to come out (kids were prioritised). The food was amazing everyone was very impressed. Apologies for incomplete food shot, it was so tasty I got stuck in before the photo :) Will definitely be back. Great coeliac options too (& vego)

The setting was a bit scrambled and seating hard to find but was well worth perservering and finding a seat for the amazing meal.. hands down the best gluten free pumpkin salad ive ever had.. hats off to the chef.. will definately be back for a meal here.

Came here for lunch. Had the chicken burger. It was honestly one of the best burgers I've had. And I don't know what you season the chips with, but whatever it is its epic. Beer choice is on point as well. Pirate Life was on tap, which is one of my faves. Sat inside near the bar, but there is plenty of eating space in the beer garden and tables out front. Looking forward to coming here again.

Beautiful bar, food is delicious, great beer, top bottle shop, high fives from the bar staff, BAD BOY BUBBLY. What's not to love? Finally a 'local' worth going to.

First time checking it out and i was impressed! My husband and i ordered the chicken burger and the pork belly and we weren't disappointed - absolutely delicious! Great serving sizes too. I think prices were great for the quality of food. The bar/table staff (and bottle shop staff) were very friendly and welcoming- making space for us as it was busy being Saturday night. Good selection of drinks- a bit different to the usual. We will be back for sure!

Great menu, not huge, but what they do have they do well. The dining room is small so you need to book otherwise there is seating in the beer garden, pavement area or the bar, all are clean, roomy and warm with plenty of outdoor heaters. Staff are friendly and the food comes out promptly. We had the fried chicken burger and chips. It was delicious, think we will keep going back and work our way through the rest of the menu.

Awesome pub with yummy food and great drinks selection. I absolutely adore the bottle shop. So many wonderful things to try. I’m like a kid in a candy shop there!

Got the $19 fish n chips with the octopus, top quality! Tasty, fresh juicy and portions weren't stingy. I'd give you 5 stars but you're a bit a expensive on the pint side. Eat here don't listen to idiots giving it a negative review 8/10 would eat here again!

We had lunch here today and cannot recommend it highly enough. Really good food and spectacular service. We are already looking forward to getting back there! Thanks guys for creating such a special place :)

What a great reno job you have done to this gem at Port Adelaide not only have you made a great success of bringing this old girl back to life you have completed the success by delivering us some incredible food - we had a fish burger and chips - the fish was to die for and so much of it and I don't know what you did with the chips but they were absolutely delicious .... The staff were friendly and very helpful ... Well done to all concerned.

My third visit since opening. The first occasion I was provided great service, the second I was confronted with staff that thought they were 'too good' and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her for ordering drinks????... last night we sat outside on a table that wasn't reserved only to have staff move the reserved sign from an adjacent table where another group sat (maybe friends of staff?) onto our table and then promptly asked us to leave when the group with a reservation arived. So we moved onto Carmines who were excellent... fantastic food and service. Spent several hundred well spent dollars for the privilege. Disgraceful service from you Port Admiral... we wont be back.

Friendly and quick customer service. It has a casual and lively atmosphere. Food was good quality for money and you could taste the love that had been put into it. Highly recommend the squid and chips.

The building is fantastically renovated, and it's great to see such progress in Port Adelaide! BUT, something needs to be done about the meals (or maybe the Management?). First time I ordered lunch here, I had the baby salt and pepper squid, which left much to be desired. Baby squid were minute, and coated in very thick batter. Quite substandard. Thinking maybe I had just struck a bad day, we stopped there for lunch again today, and I ordered the smoked salmon bruchetta. It was smoked salmon with very nice fresh herbs and water cress, but instead of a nice, crunchy, fresh brushetta, it was on a stale, burnt piece of toast. Very disappointing. Would be great if the meals could live up to the standard of the beautifully renovated building!

This is a long awaited fabulous come back of an iconic pub in Port Adelaide. The food was amazing! Great pub food with a twist. The staff here are very attentive and super friendly, went over and above to make sure our table of 14 was well taken care of. Never had to wait for a thing in fact it was like they where reading my mind! Couldn’t fault it in any way!
