Wonderful experience! We were looking for somewhere to lunch that was also dog-friendly on a rainy day, and were all made so welcome by the lovely waitress. Sitting on the undercover back deck overlooking the water, we had a delicious seafood lunch - tasting platter of Sicilian baked garfish topped with a pine nut crumble, sumac and lemon baby octopus and sesame coated prawns with zingy lime ginger and soy dressing, and a seafood spaghetti laden with fish and shellfish in a well-balanced sauce. All so fresh and tasty, the chef has a deft touch. Sweet potato fries and mugs of hot chocolate and chai latte were great accompaniments on this rather cool day.
We enjoyed it so much, we had 2 more dishes from their menu for dinner - this time as a 'take-away'; rather unusual for a higher-end restaurant but the staff here are so professional and accommodating. Baked Tasmanian trumpeter and steak sandwich went down a treat.
A seafood restaurant on the wharf in a small town can often be a cliche, rip-off tourist trap, but Wildfish is a gem - the complete package of great location, food and service, and reasonably priced, especially for the quality.
I love this place so much! Definitely a more formal place to go for lunch or tea. The menu is very well crafted and cater to everyone's needs. A very extensive beverage list and amazing deserts. Also a great place to have a function or gathering and my number one pick for date night in the area.
We went to the Wildfish on search of some nice seafood, we were not disappointed. We had the baby octopus, the oysters and the Moreton Bay Bugs. Everything was fresh, cooked perfectly and delicious. We will be comming back again 100%worth the drive.
Took wife and mother in law for lunch and was very surprised by the decor. Really clean and bright, great views and huge selection of wines and beers to choose from.
I could not decide between whiting or flat head so the waitress suggested to have a fillet of both, which I did. This came with tartare sauce and hand cut chips. Not a huge meal, but very tasty and very reasonably priced. Service was great and staff friendly.
More exciting then ever!. Quite often the magic fades when you try for a repeat experience. We'd visited several months ago and hadn't stopped talking about the experience but still wondered.... But no, ladies and gentlemen... the magic is still there!! The food got his simplicity, complex and sophistication...think about butter fish carpaccio with orange segment, capers, radish and freeze dried mint..
Genius!
Love this place, the CHEF the overlook and the whole team.
We'll b back
Lovely food. We dined at Wildfish last night. Some reviews we had read mentioned problems with service but we found quite the opposite - friendly, informative and smooth.
The food was very tasty and well plated. We shared the tasting spoons - scallop, prawn and salmon which were all delicious. The house made bread was a nice touch - we bought a loaf for our breakfast, nutty, chewy and went brilliantly with our local paddock eggs.
Anyway back to Wildfish - we both had fish for our mains - whiting in a light batter with chips and a very good salad - a very tasty spin on fish and chips. I had the pike with bok Choy, roasted peppers and cannalini beans, also delish.
We finished off with tiramisu which went very well with our espressos. Had a pleasant chat with the owner/chef who is originally from Sardegna.
Good range of wines - we had the Narkojee Chardonnay which was very tasty.
A very enjoyable meal.
A great find. Went for a drive to Port Albert looking for a lazy lunch on a sunny Saturday and stumbled across this little gem. A really nice setting overlooking the water with a cosy ambience.
Once seated, the waiting staff were quick to ask if we would like drinks and also took the time to let us know they were in training. This is fine and we appreciated the heads up - everyone needs to start somewhere!
In addition, the chef/owner came out to walk the floor which was very welcoming, as he discussed the menu with us.
The food was exceptionally good! The prawn entree was amazing as were the scallops.... both were prepared so very well.
For mains, the pork belly and polenta was so good. We also had to try the 'duck fish', something unusual but certainly worth the adventure!
Dessert - panacotta was superb.
We enjoyed a Tasmanian Pinot Grigio from Ninth Island with our meal, topping off a very good fine dining experience.
Give Wildfish a try, you will not be disappointed.
By far the best option I have found for seafood in the gippsland region. Unlike the previous reviewer I actually rang to make a booking first. (What a novel idea holly!)
Everything was fresh and really well prepared. The carpaccio could have used some more seasoning but it was easily fixed at the table. Only other gripe would be the side of asparagus was four spears which I could see a lot of people getting angry over.
Special mention of the chocolate budino which was spot on and took me straight back to childhood memories of Italy.
Surely worth the 1.5 hr drive from Inverloch, this will be a regular trip for us on our future holidays.
Great staff, knowledgeable and friendly good food in a picturesque setting, the only disappointment was the salad accompanying the days fish, chips and salad which was only lettuce and a token piece of onion - however would go again

Interesting food choices. Fresh seafood. Great/picturesque location. Good friendly service. We'll be back.
Best seafood restaurant in Gippsland. Enjoy.
Fantastic food and equally great service. Highly recommend the flake & prawn pie. Also the tapas were delicious and the desserts topped the night off.... Sooooo good!! If you are ever in Port Albert, you MUST eat there.... You will not be disappointed.....
Beautiful food, gorgeous setting and great service. We'll definitely be going back.
A first class dining experience in rural Victoria. An enthusiastic team, happy to discuss their use of native plants and herbs in showcasing Victorian, and more specifically Gippsland, produce. Well worth a visit.
Fish and chips and salad are so fresh. Staff and Michael also were great too. Definitely a place to eat.
Well balanced, seasoned and thoughtful dishes.
Both staff who served us were friendly and helpful.
Great value wine and food. Also the best kangaroo and best gnocchi ive ever had the delight of eating. 10/10 would recommend.
Second time dining here and just wow! How this place isn’t on every list of regional restaurants you must try in Victoria is beyond me. The food is absolutely delicious - every dish is considered and put together with such talent and respect with beautiful local ingredients. Such a hidden gem right on the water - highly recommend booking before the secret is out!
Ordered the gnocchi and kangaroo ragout, absolutely fantastic meal, incredible service with a smile. The staff made you feel welcome and even despite the high cost it was 100% worth it. Great selection of local beers and wines to go along.
Yummy fare and excellent friendly service. Not your everyday menu which made it even more special for us but may not suit everyone.
