We called and they were no booking for another 5 days but we dropped by and they sat us down immediately so don’t give up.
We had 4 of the entrees which was more than enough for two. And we chose to do this because the entree menu was very interesting.
Everything was delicious and fresh. Great service. And an amazing selection of liquor.
We also had the chocolate soufflé for desert which was also heavenly.
The decor and atmosphere is Extremely casual but the menu is quite elevated and executed to perfection!!!
I went with my family. My meal was the curry chicken with egg noodle and peanuts, it was absolutely delicious. This chicken is the most tender chicken I have ever had. The chips from my brother’s meal were also golden and crispy.
This dish is so yummy, yet so good for you. It is a complete must have off the specials list at Salsa in Port Douglas. One of my personal favorite dishes ever. Just amazing.
Visited on Saturday with numerous friends. A large party of 14 and we were very well looked after. Great service and very high quality of delicious food. Could not fault the food that was served. There was a slight problem with the fish special of the day which was very over cooked. We brought it to the attention of the staff and tbey were very apologetic. They firstly offered to replace tbe dishes. When the offer was not taken up, they took the price of tbe dishes off the bill and we were treated us to 3 large chocolate soffles which were amazing .
Everybody can make mistakes with some dishes but the way they handled the situation was tremendous.

This is the second time we’ve been here from Melbourne always have had great food except this time pork fillet a little dry!!!! As soon as the waitress was informed the chef with his gorgeous Irish accent came out full of apologies and offered us not only a free meal but a delicious dessert on the house 👍👍👍 For me their professionalism deserves a 5 star rating and we’ll be back again next year. This is the most highly recommended restaurant in Port Douglas and there is a good reason behind it. Firstly the staff are so polite and helpful, giving guidance and good opinions when ordering. Secondly the food amazing every single dish was prepared and cooked perfectly. My only regret was we tried salsas on the last night of our trip and won’t have a chance to go back for seconds 😋
We had a wonderful experience here ... there is a wonderful variety on the specials menu . For lunch we ate beautiful seasonal, fresh fish , aswell as some delicious arranchini balls . We were hoping the chef would be a bit more flexible and change the mushroom gnocchi to anything else ... but unfortunately this wasn’t meant to be and instead we enjoyed our Whiting which was beautiful! Definitely would recommend to others and look forward to attending here for dinner too !
Located at the end of the main road in town Salsa is clearly a popular dinner choice. Although we were in Port Douglas not during peak season we struggled to get a booking for the night so had to settle on a 6:15pm booking. The cocktail menu was fantastic with a huge choice to choose from and wow were they great tasting cocktails. Started with a pulled pork entree with Asian noodles followed by the Angus Fillet steak with chickpea chips and greens . Our waitress was fantastic and service was great.
Very fast service. Great seafood, I had the linguine with tiger prawns. Beautiful atmosphere with alfresco eating area, all meals looked large and tasty. And importantly, very friendly and welcoming staff.
This place is consistent with positive service and good food, if not a little heavy handed on the salt. Definitely take the 20 minute wait for the soufflé.
We had a great night here. The service was very attentive and their recommendations were excellent. Had Salmon Tartare for starters followed by the special fish of the day - truly exceptional.
Can see why it’s popular. Great little spot with decent views and super friendly staff. Food is fine, albeit a little confused, but as a part of the package, it does the job.
Had many cocktails, would highly recommend the Obama Mojito and the Tea Tree Swagger. Meal was to die for and had a plethora of flavours, the Linguini Pepperincino, Kangaroo and Duck were exceptional and would have again.

Amazing. Perfect food, friendly service, great drinks. Staff were brilliant with accommodating the special birthday cake we'd ordered and looking after our group from toddlers to 70 year olds. My quail entree was spectacular. The emu was from the toddler, not Salsa 🙂.
Tip: Salsa is probably the restaurant with the highest demand in Port Douglas. It was fully booked for the next three days. Do yourself a favour and book ahead!
Salsa is an elite restaurant. It overlooks the beach and marina and as it is an open restaurant captures the sea breeze. Servers are highly professional, know all their dishes and ensure your dining experience is pleasant. The food is delicious - well executed with good portions. I had the jambalaya whilst my partner had the fish of the day. The wine and cocktails list was extensive to cater for all tastes. Highly recommend.
Must be the best dining experience we've had on our northern Queensland trip. Food was great, reasonably priced and well portioned.
Staff were all very bubbly, friendly and efficient. The beautiful waitress even sang happy birthday to me when bringing out dessert. A very lovely and personal touch. Thank you.

Absolutely loved our experience at Salsa. We were told to come here by some friends from Melbourne and it didn't disappoint. The pulled pork poppers were outstanding as was the thai chicken spring rolls. The best part however, was the staff and service. Highly recommend!

Myself and my wife went in for lunch, we had the crispy pork salad and the confit duck with a cheese and pesto garlic bread shared starter. All pretty good with nice waitresses. Will probably go back for dinner before we leave the area.

Great gingery Vietnamese Mule cocktail & black angus eye fillet steak dish were our highlights. Picture is of the creole jambalaya which was good but not a standout. The service was also of a high standard would definitely come back again next visit!
There's a reason this place is known as the locals favourite and it's because the food is fresh and delicious and reasonably priced.

The 'linguine with red claw and chilli' was truly superb. A filling and totally delicious meal. The entree serving size is plenty large enough even for hubby who has a HUGE appetite.

I was told that this restaurant had to be booked in advance and I now understand why. The food was fantastic, wide array of yummy drinks (cocktails) and staff very attentive. It was of the best places I dined in whilst I stayed in Port Douglas. I wanted to go another night to check out the other items on the menu but was short on time. It will definitely be on my list again when I go back. Note, this place is ideal for couples or if you are dining on your own.

By far the best service and food of our entire trip.
The staff were absolutely wonderful in providing a 10/10 service experience. Our glasses of water were never left more than half way, the menu and elements of each dish explained in great detail, plates cleared quickly and wait staff happy to have a chat.
A great selection of cocktails made with fresh fruit and a nice mix of meat and seafood options to select from.
The food was faultless and be sure to try a selection of desserts! They are all amazing! Especially the deconstructed black forest.
A credit to management for providing such a wonderful dining experience.

Having read the menu before I thought it was a rather odd combo..nay 'fusion' of cuisines. Also walking past I didn't think the restaurant itself look much chop either...not for it's #1 rating on Zomato at least. Alas it was bloody delicious! We went for lunch, sharing 3 entrees and they were all amazing - creative cooking, thoughtful and delicious combination of flavours. Will try and go back before leaving Port D. This place has earned a name for itself and rightly so. The bar has some great cocktails including the very tasty margarita. But the food is certainly the main attraction. We had an array of dishes to eat and they were all delicious. Try the pulled pork poppers for a starter and the duck for a Main. Magnificent

Used to be one of my favourite restaurants but the quality has slipped a bit.
I don't have the expectations of resort restaurants as I do of ones in say, Melbourne. They have to get by on a season that is limited by climate. Their staff dependant on youngsters spending a year or so in Oz. Port Douglas is a popular resort and Salsa has been here for at least the 20 years we have been visiting. The location is wonderful, it's laid back, and the front of house crew are friendly and an eclectic global bunch. Our 2 delightful hosts were from Eire and Southern Italy.
The food was mostly quite good. The Pulled Pork Poppers excellent, but the Prawn Pot Stickers not so. I love pot stickers straight from the wok. Still very hot and a mix of crispy Botton and soft top. Mine arrived covered in a salad, which while nice, had eliminated any sizzle and made the tops soggy. A pity as the prawn filling was lovely.
Jambalaya. Sounded good and a nice localisation with crocodile sausage. The smoked chicken was impressive as were the prawns. But it was strangely lacking in punch. I couldn't quite taste the Cayenne pepper that reminds me of the better dishes we had when we lived in Texas for 7 years. It was a nice dish but seemed to have been dialled back a couple of notches.
Finished with chocolate soufflé. Correction, my daughter did so. But the wait staff brought out an additional 2 and lots of spare spoons. A nice touch to end the evening.
Lovely albeit limited wine list and not the sort of markups I encounter in Melbourne.
This is the Jewell in the crown of Port Douglas the portions are great. Service is also great, the price is super. The Perri Perri Spatchcock is my favourite.
My husband and I ordered the linguine and barramundi here- the linguine was delicious but the Barramundi wasn't the best I've had. Dessert wasn't great. The food was fine but overpriced for what we ordered. In saying that the service was excellent.
Salsa has for as long as I can remember been my favourite restaurant. The food is elegant, beautifully prepared and presented and the staff well trained. Thanks for so many many memories every time I come home to Port.
Good vibe. Good food. Not too expensive. Drinks were OK but cocktails were definitely lacking some alcohol.
Wasn't a fan of being told that there were no available tables for 30-45min (and directed to the bar) despite there being around 10 open tables and then we ended up being seated at one of said open tables 30min later along with everyone else that had to do a "Bar Pit Stop".
Enjoyed a spectacular meal at Salsa tonight. I ordered both an entree (pork & prawn dumplings) & main (snapper) from the specials. Both were bursting with flavour & an absolute treat. The watermelon cocktail was also sublime & the service was fantastic. It's a busy place definitely book ahead.

Pros:
- The flavours were great!
- Turkish bread & dips (sundried tomato pesto, olive oil and dukkah) was a tasty starter
- Snapper cannelloni was filling despite being an entrée size
- mango delice & dragonfruit sorbet dessert was perfect.
- Excellent presentation on all dishes
- Virgin mojito was refreshingly good
Cons:
- Mains came out seconds after the correct dip for our starter was brought out.
- Eye fillet stake was lukewarm - butter did not even melt on it.
Overall an excellent dinner out! Wouldn't recommend for vegetarians though, as dishes were limited to pasta/gnocchi.
A worthwhile visit if you're in port doug! Pricey for the proportions but food tasted lovely so can't complain! Staff were attentive and nice. Apparently locals like to come here too so must be consistently good!
Came here for lunch without a reservation and got a table straight away. Food was delicious - had the pulled pork poppers to share followed with linguine and tapas special. I was told the tapas special was in between an entree and main size but if we got an entree to share that would be enough... Sadly not - the tapas special was definitely entree sized!!
Amazing food! We shared 4 entrées and all were beautifully presented and delicious! Snapper canelloni was fantastic as was the prawn and pork dumpling. Soft shell crab was well seasoned and crispy. Others at the table enjoyed duck san choy bao and barramundi special with coconut crust and rice. Great service too!
Excellent dinner here tonight. Two of us shared five entrees as everything on the menu sounded delicious and we couldn't decide which ones to choose. We were not disappointed in any of the selections. Exceptional service. Too full to eat any dessert so back for the dessert tasting plate for lunch tomorrow.

Excellent food and service. My wife and I decided to do just entrees and shared 4 superb dishes with some excellent guidance from the staff, all Australian who were outstanding, a real contrast from our experiences elsewhere where back packing staff can be somewhat indifferent!
Can particularly recommend the Pork Belly and Seared Scallops as the pick of the four, the other 3, Scallop cakes, Duck doughnuts and Beef Ragout fettuccine all good too!

The atmosphere was great and loved the casual feel to the place. Food was great, i had the half duck and a bottle of howard park. We also sat near the pass and i enjoyed the easy manner of the chefs. The dissappointing result was from the wait staff who were unprofessional and lacked basic service skill.
Excellent food worthy of any great restaurant in Sydney or Melbourne. Great, very friendly service. We had all their specials of the night, including some brilliant fish dishes - chargrilled salmon with tomato & miso broth and snapper with green curry and coconut rice.

I'm not surprised Salsa's has got such great reviews. The receptionist may say they are fully booked, however there is always tables available for walk-ins; just sit down in the bar area and enjoy a cocktail for 10-15 mins.. Great quality food, highly recommend the linguini pasta! Not as great atmosphere as others, but quality F&B makes up for it.
If Bill Clinton and most well know stars have eaten here it's worth a try. And my gosh it's delicious, arrive early and have cocktail at the bar, the food is delicious (that doesn't really describe it) and the chocolate soufflé is a must. 11/10
Went there fantastic service and food to die for need to pre book well in advance ( 2 months) prior to visit you can't just drop in for dinner fully booked and we know why. Will definitely visit again and we paid less than we expected do try if in Port Douglas
Had a quick bite at Salsa's 1st day we got in and we're hooked had to go back for dinner. With 4 of us at dinner we got to try a number of dishes, couldn't fault any of them.
One of, if not the best Restaurant Port Douglas has to offer.
The staff are boisterous, friendly and have great memories in order to remember the variety of menu items, specials, drinks and extras available.
The menu boast locally sourced Tropical North Queensland produce and is presented beautifully on the plate.
The specials board is an array of culinary experience, thought and process to add even more flair to an already amazing menu.
Don't forget to try the Thai Chicken Spring Rolls a classic since the early days of this fine establishment.
Went here for lunch with a couple of friends staff were friendly except for one older woman who I found a bit rude. We all had the special which was Spanish mackerel and it was delicious.
Also went there last night for dinner with my husband, were lucky to walk in off the street and get a table, I'd definitely advise to book in advance if you'd like to eat here.....our friends were told they were booked out for a week! We had the duck donuts to share as an entrée it was a decent serve so glad we shared. For mains hubby had linguini with assorted seafood, it was a huge serve. I had the jambalaya which was so good, full of seafood, croc sausage and flavour. Cocktails here are also very good. I'd highly recommend this place for a good value for money feed!
Had lunch here with some friends. Food was fantastic! Service by our waitress was great. She knew the menu and cocktails too. Had been majorly underwhelmed by other members of staff and their service but she was great, seems a bit hit and miss with service. We all enjoyed our lunch, all cooked to perfection, great location. Dissapointed we couldnt get in for dinner!!

We visited Salsa three times for lunch on a recent holiday from Perth. The food was consistently beautifully presented and tasted delicious! The service was also fantastic. If we lived local we would be spending a lot of money here.
Their special tapas starters were excellent, had 2 of their special main courses which were fish, staff were friendly and attentive. Probably not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and worth the price.

WOW! The most amazing food I've ever experienced!. There is not a single thing I could fault.... The food was just exquisite, staff and service were great, atmosphere lovely but the food! I had the braised beef cheek and it just melted in my mouth. The banana-spring rolls were divine. And the desert menu was just out of this world! I would certainly not hesitate in returning here again.
This is a fantastic restaurant. We're on a relaxing holiday, we've come here and had delicious, fresh and beautifully presented food with fast, accurate and generous service and good wine. A must in PD!! The duck leg and snapper special are both GREAT!

Staff friendly and helpful. I had a fabulous cocktail there - very refreshing with mint and coriander.
Chef obligingly changed his grilled mahi mahi dish (as I didn't want the spicy thai style curry that accompanied the fish) - instead creating a light ruby grapefruit and fennel salad for me. As those who have rated there before - the chocolate soufflé as desert is a MUST!

The smoked kangaroo was awesome and cooked the way I asked (medium rare), and the dessert tasting platter for two was delightful! 3 delectable desserts on a platter (strawberry panacotta, mango trifle, creme brûlée), was well worth the money! I also saw one of the most beautiful sunsets of my life from my table. My only complaint is the mosquitos, there were so many of them! When I looked down there were about 10 feasting on my legs! If going for dinner, cover yourself with repellent beforehand.

Loved it!. Even though the restaurant sends off weird signals (the uniforms don't match the music or the food or the logo...so many mixed signals!!!!), the food and service were LOVELY!
On the first night, our food was taking a little bit longer to come out, so they offered us a complimentary entree AND dessert! We were blown away with their kindness. All of the dishes we sampled were absolutely delicious, and we loved our experience so much we came back a few nights later!
I especially loved the fish special, the kangaroo which was cooked perfectly, and the beautiful sauces/cauliflower flan that accompanied the dishes. The tasting dessert plate for two is also a great value and very tasty. They remembered my gluten intolerance at all points during the meal.
Everything is fantastic. We all agreed that Salsa needs to update its uniform and logo to match the brilliance of the restaurant's food & service. The uniform/logo/music give an impression that doesn't quite give enough credit to how great everything else is.

Amazing!. Salsa was one of the best restaurants I've been to! 7 of us ladies were on a getaway & were told this was a must try place. We were so glad we did. Everything from the service, to cocktails to mains was spot on. Even the garlic bread was to die for. Another great thing was the restaurant let us split the bill at the end of the night which not many places do these day, so in a large group this was really convenient. Everyone has to try this place at least once!!
One of the pricier restaurants, had to book days in advance. Quite fancy but still affordable and the quality is up there. Entree was a tasting plate (amazing) $20, my partner ordered the fish special which was indeed very special. I overheard the waitress personally recommend the tandoori spatchcock. Don't usually order Indian or Asian at Australian restaurant but thought I would give it a try, bad decision. Bland. And there was so much chicken skin/fat which I couldn't bare to swallow. Entree of Turkish bread and sun dried tomato was quite ordinary too. Partner said drinks were more expensive $8.50 for one beer. If you're going in the summer, take precaution, it's steaming in there and fans don't do much. Lovely view of St Mary by the sea, virtually opposite. I wouldn't go back but my partner would.

Little Gem in FNQ. Before I go on holiday, I like to do some research into the best spots to check out, Salsa's came out on top in that list and so I booked a reservation about 3 months in advance. On this particular Thursday night in monsoon season, the restaurant was busy but not completely full and so walk-ups were being accommodated without issue. As with everything in FNQ, prices are higher than you'd come to expect in the big cities, that being said, the food I thought was exceptional. I went a long with some locals and found the ambiance and service to be attentive and friendly. Overall, deserves its rating as one of Port Douglas's best. Some of the reviews suggest diners being turned away when there are empty tables, I didn't see any of that and so cant comment. Overall, great stuff. Enjoyed it

We've been up here a few times and Salsas is a stand out.
We now have a two year old and have tried at least eight restaurants this time up here and Salsas stands above them all.
The staff are delightful, and at least four high fived, smiled, played with our son during dinner.
The food was the best we've eaten here, far above buccini, nautilus and others. I had the spatchcock which was delicious and my wife the lamb, equally succulent.

Outstanding restaurant. One of our entrees was a chicken spring roll which had the most amazing Thai flavours. For mains my wife had nannygai fish on fragrant rice with prawn and mango salsa, all in a laksa sauce. The fish was melt in your mouth perfect and the flavours just divine. I was sorry I didn't order this for myself. I had the eye fillet which was very nice and cooked beautifully.
For dessert we each had the chocolate and Cointreau souffle with double cream and double chocolate ice cream. What a way to end the evening! Just heavenly.
Service was excellent with staff showing solid knowledge of all the specials. Not cheap but worth it.

Excellent. The Tableland Redclaw linguine is AMAZING!! No wonder its their speciality. I cannot wait to return to port douglas to have the linguine again.
The gnocchi was unreal! Unfortunately the vegitarian tasting plate was disappointing. It looked great but tasted average. The dessert menu on the other hand was rich with choice. We weren't disappointed with the large soufflé! I would recomend sharing it!
Went with group of 6 from Adelaide. Food and service were amazing. Definitely no lack lustre on our table. Flavours were exquisite and presentation gorgeous. The lamb backstrap exceptional and dessert plate a total treat. Not sure seriously what some ppl want coz i havnt had better food anywhere and i dine out very often. Thanku Salsa i wil b back soon to PD and come again
You pay the same price for a main pretty much where ever you go in PD so why not make it excellent.
Worth a try. Reasonable but the food lacked lustre for the price you pay.

Great food. Ate lunch at salsa, and wasn't disappointed.
The service was excellent, brisk and attentive. Everything was brought out exactly when we wanted it. Drink service was fast, as was the food. It's quite a casual and unpretentious place (rare for port douglas), and everything is done just right for the atmosphere and location.
Calamari salad was excellent, delicious sauce at the bottom could've been on top also to add some flavour to the leaves. Kids menu was really good quality; if your kids want deep fried nuggets and fish fingers, don't come! Mine had the pasta bolognese, which was devoured, as was my other daughter's grilled chicken with rice. The chicken was tender, yet charred and tasty on the outside.
The mains were the standout. At first glance, the menu looks small, and I was somewhat forced into choosing the Korean pork, but I'm glad I did; it was bbq'd beautifully and with a flavoursome sauce. My wife's slow roasted lamb shoulder was fantastic - just what yd imagine a really well cooked lamb shoulder to to - it pulled apart easily, was rich, and melted in your mouth.
Will be back again during ur trip to port.
Fabulous place! It came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. The service was great, they really took care of us. We ate from the selection of specials which didn't disappoint. Amazing cocktails too!

The setting is relaxed not formal with open air through the windows and doors which adds to the easy going atmosphere

Had dinner there during Easter holidays and despite how busy they were, we had an amazing meal. We had the entree and main specials and were not disappointed. Service very friendly yet hit and miss on attentiveness. Casual dining with great tasting food.
We had the Spring Rolls with chicken... Hit the spot. This place has been going for years and it's never a disappointment. Respect to the chief who obviously keeps an eye on the staff and food.

Great food & excellent customer service. Staff was willing to spend some time to explain the chef's special to me and regularly checking on me for feedback. But definitely need to make reservation before dropping by. I dropped by during this my first night visiting Port Douglas but it was fully booked out.
This place is the bees knees and the ducks nuts of a fantastic night out! The food is excellent, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is excellent. If you are in Port Douglas for dinner, this is a MUST!
Salsa bar and grill. Excellent food, service, outlook. It's rare to find such a good place to eat. Service great, attentive but not overbearing, food quick and cooked perfectly, cocktail special excellent!

Came highly recommended...menu is a bit of a mix when first read however the flavours work well...not so well however that salt can be missing from the table. Accommodating to families...very helpful and friendly staff...catering to the 'foodie' that visits PD better than any other establishment. Nice wine list and house made cheese. Try it for yourself!
Didn't have a booking but got a table after a short 15min wait. Bar staff and waiter were absolutely top class and the food was special ! Thoroughly recommended

What a great place, booked a table before we left Melb and just as well as they were booked out for the week we were here. Fantastic friendly staff, great cocktails, (hard to get up here I found). All three of us had beautiful meals, entrees, mains followed by affagattos. And the visiting French chef sent out three amazing macaroons he had just made yum... Great night all round and will be our first place of call next time..
Fantastic and outstanding. Must be one of the most stunning settings - romance plus plus and the food is absolutely the very best - fresh, innovative, beautifully presented and best of all, it tastes wonderful. Every time we are in Port Douglas we eat here - don't bother trying anywhere else because Bill Conway can't be beaten!
Food is fantastic, make sure you book in advance. Food is fresh seasonal produce, cocktails are great too!

Having spent the week in Port Douglas and gone to a few restaurants we booked in to go to Salsa on the final evening. It was by far the best place we had eaten at. The barramundi and the spatchcock were both full of flavour and excellent. Also the prices are no more than a lot of the other places in town with much poorer offerings. I would definitely recommend this place.
I liked this place alot. Great friendly service and the trout was cooked to perfection.... Maybe a little noisy but deceptively good otherwise
I can now see why Salsa is booked out every night. Everything was absolutely outstanding! Definitely best meal we had in Port. (didn't go to Nautilus. If my kids can't go then I'm not going!). Kudos Salsa!!
All in all a great place the service was good and the food very nice (not as good a Sassi's in Grant St) My one comment would be the matre d.... We booked our table on line about three weeks before we got there and on arrival (early... to an almost empty restaurant) we were shown to our table towards the back of the restaurant. My partner asked if I was happy with the table and the matre d butted in and said this is the only table available as all the others were booked weeks in advance (as was ours!) we later saw him move another couple at their request. With just a few word he made us feel less important than his other guests and it did spoil an otherwise lovely night

Impressed on our first night in Port!...... and still impressed!. What I liked - it was Mr R and my first night on our holiday to Port and we were tired and hungry! A colleague of Mr R's had recommended 'Salsa's' and we weren't disappointed! I enjoyed the creative entree of barramundi spring rolls with soba noodles (special), it looked fantastic on the plate! Mr
R's (special) housemade gnocchi of the day, pumpkin & sweetcorn (it worked!) with red capsicum puree and pieces of coral trout certainly filled a spot! I decided to have another entree of Sumac berry dusted calamari with ruby grapefruit, cucumber ribbons and coriander and it was great!! The flavours were tantalising and there was a slight sweetness to the dressing! Mr R was very impressed (and surprised) with the wine list and we enjoyed a Grosset
Polish Hill riesling. Our table by the open shutters gave us the illusion of sitting outside, and we thoroughly enjoyed the breeze!
What I didn't like - Nothing to mention, however Mr R felt his Grilled Kingfish fillet was a little overcooked, but didn't
disappoint none-the-less.
Can't comment on - Dessert, but we're going back to try the cheeses made on the premises with a glass of Morris Muscat! Watch this space!
PART 2 - We returned on night 9 and was still impressed by Salsa's! It's portrayed as a casual-ish restaurant, but really could be classed as fine dining! I couldn't resist the calamari entree again, (I usually try and order something different, but it was so delicious the first time! And I wasn't disappointed the second time!!). I had the ras-el-hanout rubbed kangaroo fillet w celeriac remoulade and apple and date relish for main. Perfectly cooked and delicious! I loved the relish too! Mr R had the (special) slow cooked sirloin rubbed w porcini dust, w pomme puree and beetroot and
mustard accompaniment. Also perfectly cooked and distinctly flavoured! And finally the housemad cheeses! A blue, caroway spiced gouda and brie with housemade lavosh (!!!) and walnut bread! We loved every mouthful of these creamy, subtle flavoured cheeses, perfectly ripened! They could easily have been presented in the French manner, on their own! But we did enjoy the Morris Muscat with it!! The servings are quite large which makes this a very reasonably priced night out! Definitely our fave place to eat in Port!!!
Consistent dining!. Was here a couple of weeks back with mum, and thought to try the place out.
The service was very quick, even though it was a packed house (Tues night from memory). The duck pate was nice, served with great dark bread as I like!
I loved the entree of the scallops with the pulled pork! My main of the fish was great also and mum liked the jambalaya dish. The souffle was good, but it lacked something...
If ever in Port, you must try this place.
Top-notch topical dining. I've eaten in Key West, Florida (back before it became the overcrowded frat-boozer/sorority-snapper place it is now) and that's what Salsa reminded me of.
It's got a great setting beside the boat dock channel in Port Douglas, so you can feel like you're eating al fresco when you're safely ensconced inside. The seafood is prepared with an innovative hand -- I was asking the waiter for all sorts of details about how the chef made the tomato-based enchilada sauce my mahi-mahi came on. They do meats, too. My wife was on a pork belly kick when we were there, and Salsa's came with an unusual vanilla-based sauce.
The waitstaff was polite and helpful when we were there, and I loved Salsa's wine list. We had a banana pudding that was like their version of sticky date pudding -- p*ss on Pavlovas, sticky date should be known as the all-Aussie dessert -- and it was wickedly good too.
Awesome! Great menu, friendly staff, top spot. Book early at peak times to avoid disappointment.
