I almost don't want to review this place in case a million people discover how great it is and I can't get a table next time I'm in town. We rocked up without a booking needing a table for 2, and were quickly shown to a seat in the restaurant area - the bar out the back serving cheap pizza and tapas gets busy on weekends but that's not what we were here for anyway so no problems. I had a piece of barramundi cooked to perfection and my friend had a pork belly dish. The casual cafe feel of the venue is offset by the high standard of the food, not to mention the cocktail list, and if I lived in the area this is the one place I would come back to time and time again. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this venue and meal, and felt it was perfect for the area - warm, friendly, cruisy, not showy just really really good.
Great customer service and friendly staff. Atmosphere is relaxed and quaint. Pizza was delicious and rest of the food was well worth the price. Would definitely recommend.
This is a great little place with an awesome vibe and food to boot. Great service and really nice food. Price won't knock your socks off and good cocktails. They also have a pretty cool pizzeria as well. Well worth a try if you're up here
Ordered the fish special of the day and it was divine - sorry no photos. I then ordered the mango icecream with pistachio praline - yum! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who comes to Port Douglas. The place has a beachy feel with sand on the floor in the restaurant however the food is great
Well away from the main drag of PD, this place is a fun little venue. Sand floor and tropical garden feel, it does a wide range of bistro type dishes and pizzas. The food here will not knock your socks off, it is good without being special. But you will feel like you are on holidays, you won't get bill shock and the staff will make yyou and any kids you have feel at home.
Loved this place. Beach atmosphere (sand as a floor). It was booked out but the friendly waitress suggested ordering from the outdoor bar/take away section, so we did - it was better there anyway, we had a great comfy couch to sit on and eat our food and we could watch the people playing pool. Enjoyed the meat pizza and the tapas of calamari, fish taco and pork belly (good value at $5 each). Would definitely return.
I loved this little hide away, perfect relaxed feel. From the sandy floors to the attentive waiters. I like how the place was setup with both a restaurant and also a bar section with a pool table. Meals were very fresh and also light. I demolished a lamb pizza which was a perfect size, fresh ingredients, tasty lamb and a great crust. The mrs had the macadamia encrusted fish, which after sampling was cooked to perfection.
Fantasic setting with the sand floor. Our scallop / pork belly entree and curry and gnocci mains were delish. Definitely recommend booking as it does get busy.
Loved this place!!
Delicious pizza and the best sandy floor! Felt like we were on the beach!
They had a great tapas menu as well and a good drinks menu with heaps of options.
I'd say you'd want to make a booking for peak times, but as we came in the late afternoon it was no problem at all getting a table!
It seemed a few locals were there too, which is always nice when it's not full of tourists!
We'll be back!
Had a fantastic meal last night at the Beach Shack. Our entrees of seared scallops & tempura soft shell crab were exceptional. I ordered the fish from the specials (which was fantastic) & my son had the chilli prawn pizza. The novelty of the sandy beach floor adds a fun dynamic. Will definitely be back.
This is a really nice restaurant tucked away from the main strip of Macrossan Street in Port Douglas. Although it is not right on the beach it does compensate by the sand they hand lining the floor to give a pretty good substitute.
The food is pretty nice and the wine list not bad however on the night I was there it was sadly missing a good rose.
There were plenty of gluten free options on the menu and looked pretty kid friendly. In summary, it is well worth a look if you staying in the four mile beach area or want a change from the main strip.
Great service. Great meals, had the entree plate for two which we both enjoyed and each had a fish dish for main. Love the sand on the floor, gives this place a point of difference. Family friendly and good for larger groups, was a large table booked behind us and some families dining also. Recommend for casual dining with a difference.
Great Place to Eat. Fabulous atmosphere in such a interesting themed restuarant. The choice of flooring just tied it all together. The tasting plate was amazing and would definately recommend. We also had the meat lovers pizza and carbonara. Both were very good but the carbonara won! Definately worth checking out.
I really must defend this place. A friend made a booking for here. I checked urbanspoon simply to see if t was licensed and was somewhat horrified at what I read. So I showed up with much trepidation...
Only to find friendly staff and good reasonably priced food. Makes me think that some of the people that have had a rant are possibly expecting a little too much for a laid back holiday location. This is not Melbourne/Sydney CBD people.
All I found were staff that seamed happy to be there (not a sign of eye rolling anywhere) slightly tacky decor ( which I would have been disappointed not to find in a holiday spot) and some decent, well priced food.
For a laid back (but not at all tardy) meal I suggest you give it a go.
Fast service, great food and cocktails. Tortellini in crab bisque was a highlight, as was the excellent pizza. Bread and butter pudding was surprisingly great too.
Amazing place to relax and unwind with a cocktail, especially between unwind time 4 till 5pm. Amazing margarita while waiting for my pizza. The prawn was Amazing!! Will be back 👍
Very delicious cocktails and wine's
+ really tasty pizza and salads (Thai Beef Salad)
Nice relaxed Music and great atmosphere
Fantastic place for anyone, couples and families. The atmosphere was great and the food delicious. Definitely recommend the pumpkin pizza. If you come to Port Douglas this is a must. Good idea to book in advance as it can get busy.
Great little quirky restaurant with a sandy floor and Italian themed menu. Each night is a different night, we came on pasta night where menu items are reduced. Large servings of delicious food for reasonable prices. I recommend visiting.
Pizza was great, the tandoori chicken is highly recommended. The sandy floor was fun, but lacked atmosphere... could be done better. Wait staff where fast and lovely.
The hot wings were super hot, not for the weak hearted 🥵.
Landed up at the Beach Shack after taking a walk along 4 Mile Beach in the late afternoon.
Was pleasantly surprised to see how laid back it was. Beach sand floors, open bar, good items on the menu to choose from.
There's a restaurant section, slightly more expensive menu on offer. Then there's the pub fare. Nothing wrong with that. I had a green Thai curry with a chilli sauce that just made the meal. Delish!!
Service for food and drinks was friendly and as fast as they could get to you. It's a popular place.
If you're ever at that end of Port Douglas looking for something to eat you won't be disappointed.
Just thought I’d leave a review about a real experience. The pop corn chicken was beautiful and it had real pop corn in it how unique loved it. Ordered the beef tacos again how amazing my wife and I loved them. The owner took the time to say hi and what an experience!
